This was an art request for the NPC Draw and Scrawl, a fan project to encourage people to donate to the charity stream in exchange for fanart or fanfic, and this was inspired by the prompt "your most unhinged idea for arc 8 or arc 11", which for me became "Helga Hatebad in a death metal band" because…. why not lol

On Day 1 of UC Fanfest I went with my favorite arc which is arc 9. I loved the characters, the plot and that twist at the end but this line stood out as one that I thought was so great that I think about it from time to time. Revolution will come to Hyranor one way or another and a Mori will have a hand in it

Unprepared Casters Celebration of Love and Joy - Day 1

I know this is a couple days late, but here is my piece for the first day! My favourite arc is a close competition between Lives of the Party, The Glacerian Trail, and The King is Dead, but thinking about it, The King is Dead just pulls into the lead!

I decided to combine it with the Roll for AU, and got an 11: Timeline Swap! So here is my take on if Sir Up Ton had succeeded and become the next king of Hyrenor!

Hsiung’s trial and conviction show the extraordinary difficulty of trying to discuss what happens to animals on factory farms in a legal system that only sees them as property.

At both factory farms in this case, DxE had documented gruesome conditions prior to their open rescue actions and had submitted animal cruelty complaints to authorities (though no action was taken by legal officials, King said). Yet it was the activists, not the farm owners, who were criminally charged and had to explain themselves to a jury.

Laura Passaglia, the Sonoma County Superior Court judge who presided over the trial, barred Hsiung from showing most evidence of animal cruelty, depriving him of the ability to show his motives for entering the farms.

Before both actions, smaller groups of DxE activists had entered Sunrise and Reichardt facilities and documented what they said were grisly conditions. At Sunrise, activists found hens that were dead, dying, had serious injuries like prolapsed reproductive tracts, and had mangled feet that got stuck in the wire of their cages and prevented them from moving (since then, Sunrise has gone cage-free across all of its locations after a California welfare law, Prop 12, took effect). They also found some birds with their eyes pecked out from what they believe was cannibalism.

Before their mass actions, DxE sent reports of their investigations at both Sunrise and Reichardt to the county sheriff, animal control, and other agencies, alleging that the farms were violating state animal cruelty law; the group says no action was taken by authorities.

For example, [judge] Passaglia placed a gag order on Hsiung, barring him from talking to media during the trial, which was condemned as unconstitutional by UC Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and by the ACLU of Northern California. She reprimanded the defense when she found out that members of DxE had been posting updates about the trial, eventually removing members of Hsiung’s defense team from the courtroom, multiple observers at the trial said. She also denied media requests to film inside the courtroom, including a request from Vox, which made the trial difficult to cover.

Hello one and all and welcome to my wip wednesday post.

I've been jumping back and forth between a few wips but the one I am sharing below has been calling to me more than the others recently.

“Fuck you.��� She hissed as she faced him, she noticed how he was leaning in to steal her lips. For her amusement she slipped from him with the smoothness of a cat and continued into the open doorway. She heard him curse under his breath at her impulsiveness before she was 3 steps ahead. His irritation fueled her in a special way. There was something about it that was addictive. Ghoul steps were soft and barely made a patter as she slinked into the room. The occupants had yet to notice her presence even as they talked amongst themselves aware of enemies on their ship and the fact their ship was in disrepair.

Ghoul decided to use the surprise to her advantage before Delgado ruined it. She braced herself before using her left foot to launch herself from a seat and into the air. Her body vulnerable, flying towards the enemy. She landed on the closest of the four and chaos ensued. There were sounds of shots being fired, grunts, shouts, and weak threats as she swung the body over her as she hit the floor with them. The man above her was heavier than she anticipated but she did not let that stop her from using them as a human shield. One of her hands freed and unsheathed a blade to slit his throat before she threw it at the man that was furthest from her. There was a rip at her green tasseled hair as all four were focused on her. Once it seemed they stopped firing shots she used her legs to propel the dying body off from her and sending it away to trip up whoever was in its path.

Ghoul’s side burned and her thigh felt a shatter of pain as one of the men managed a few blows. She elicited a growl and as she pushed herself up the one who ripped at her hair had his arm around her throat before she stood. The constriction around her throat made her insides burn with fury and lack of oxygen. Her hands grabbed for the man’s arm that was around her throat and with precise movement she used his weight to flip him forward. The strain in her own arms stinging silently. He groaned and before the other could come after her again there was a loud bang and the man slunk to the ground, dead. Delgado was now in the room firing shots at those who still moved. Ghoul had successfully distracted them, so they did not expect the Crimson Fleet leader to appear with vengeance.

Everyone was subdued within minutes and even though she was still on the ground her breathing was heavy, feeling the weight of the lack of oxygen on the ship. Ghoul’s head felt light and dizzy, and it took her longer than she cared to realign herself. During this small moment her eyes were closed and once they opened a gloved hand was reaching out towards her. Her eyes stared at the hand and then up into the pirate’s syrup eyes before deciding to give in to his offer. She gripped it with might and as he lifted her up, she felt the tenderness in the pressure he returned. Though they had successfully taken out the last of the passengers, Delgado’s nostrils were flaring.

OH MY GOOODODODODODOD WHAT THE FUCK AUGUSTUS RACHELS IM COMING FOR YOU. FIRST REMENY AND LOTTIE NOW THIS ?!?!! PENNY LOST HER MOM!!!!! I STIFLED A SOB AT WORK OVER A FUCKING LOVEJOY!!! never in my life (or rather in the 6 or so months I've been in this fandom) did I think I would cry for a Lovejoy. GEM Lovejoy of all people. but I did, and just wow. I feel like Im seeing a new dimension of this show. it's really good at showing how people are just people. they're not good or bad we're all too complex for that binary. penny lost her mom. god. the performance was so good. oh my god and sybilla. she's dead dude. she's dead. I can't even begin to process. "my best friend euthanasia wizard would Never hurt me" oh sure. sure. like. WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HYRANOR?!?!! is the Constitution going to be put in place?!! like what !!!! AHHHHH!!! IM FULLY LOSING MY MIND !!!!
