Bipartisan Group of U.S. Senators Call for Reassessment of So-Called Havana Syndrome
On April 12 a bipartisan group of eight U.S. Senators sent a letter to President Biden calling for a “renewed assessment . . . to identify the cause behind directed energy attacks” . . . and “review of the March 2023 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) of AHHs.”[1] This letter said, “Most recently, some . . . [former intelligence officials, service members and diplomats] have told Congress…

US Senate Aims to Finalize Crypto Regulations by Year-End
Key Points
The US Senate could pass a bipartisan cryptocurrency regulation bill before the end of the year.
The crypto industry is playing a significant role in the 2024 presidential and Senate elections.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has expressed hope that cryptocurrency regulation legislation might be passed by the US Senate before the year ends. This is happening as the country gears up for the upcoming presidential elections in November.
Schumer shared his optimism during a virtual town hall event named “Crypto4Harris” that took place on August 14. He emphasized the necessity of sensible cryptocurrency legislation, stating that passing such a bill this year is a realistic goal.
Event Participants and Schumer’s Vision
The event was organized to raise funds for Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. It featured billionaire investor Mark Cuban, senators Kristen Gillibrand and Senate Agriculture Committee chair Debbie Stabenow. However, Harris did not attend the event.
Stabenow is currently supervising the progress of a bipartisan crypto bill. Schumer outlined his vision for crypto regulation, aiming to unite members from both political parties to pass legislation that ensures the U.S. remains a leader in technological innovation.
Schumer’s support for the crypto sector isn’t new; earlier this year, he worked with Republicans to overturn regulatory guidelines viewed as too restrictive by the industry. His recent statements signal a stronger commitment to digital currencies, asserting that “Crypto is here to stay no matter what. So Congress must get it right.”
Views on Crypto and the 2024 Elections
While Harris has not publicly shared her views on cryptocurrency, other Democratic leaders hint at a favorable approach. Senator Gillibrand suggested that a Harris administration would likely adopt a “balanced approach” to regulating the sector, fostering innovation while ensuring consumer protection.
The crypto community has become a significant voting bloc in the 2024 elections, affecting both the presidential race and key Senate contests. Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, is actively engaging with the crypto sector, despite his earlier dismissive stance on cryptocurrencies.
Harris seems to be fostering relationships with the crypto world by engaging with the industry leaders. However, in late July, Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey alleged that Harris had privately referred to Bitcoin as “money for criminals”. The Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) stated that Harris needs to win the support of crypto enthusiasts to counter Trump’s growing appeal within this community.
Despite these criticisms, Harris appears to be gaining momentum. According to Polymarket, a decentralized prediction market platform, her chances of winning the presidency have increased to 54%, surpassing Trump, whose odds have decreased to 45%, a significant drop from his strong 70% in mid-July.

In a letter dated August 5 — before Trump announced he would lower the refugee resettlement cap to a maximum of 18,000 admissions for Fiscal Year 2020 — Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Chris Coons (D-DE) led a group of lawmakers to ask that the president increase the number of refugees resettled in the U.S. every year beyond the current year’s 30,000 admissions ceiling.
The lawmakers include:
Sen. John Thune (R-SD)
Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN)
Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD)
Sen. Thomas Carper (D-DE)
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)
Sen. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY)
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO)
Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD)
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO)
Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA)
Likewise, the lawmakers called reports “alarming” that the Trump administration would halt the refugee resettlement program for Fiscal Year 2020 for national security reasons and said the U.S. has a responsibility, above all else, to be compassionate to the world’s migrants:
While some Members of Congress have already expressed their displeasure with the FY2019 resettlement cap, and the lower-than-normal admittance numbers for FY2017 and FY2018, eliminating refugee admittance altogether is even more alarming. At a time when we are facing the “highest levels of displacement on record,” according to the United Nations Refugee Agency, we urge you to increase the refugee resettlement cap and to admit as many refugees as possible within that cap. America has a responsibility to promote compassion and democracy around the world through assistance to vulnerable and displaced people. [Emphasis added]
Though research has found that refugee resettlement to the U.S. costs American taxpayers nearly $9 billion every five years, the lawmakers said surges in refugees are necessary for economic growth.
The Senators wrote:
Refugee populations significantly benefit local and national economies. Economists have found that refugees ultimately contribute billions more in taxes than they receive in benefits and that refugees are more likely to start their own businesses and create jobs. In 2015 alone, more than 180,000 refugee-owned enterprises generated $4.6 billion in business income, more than the United States’ annual budget for refugee resettlement.
Increasing refugee resettlement would have broken from Trump’s initial 2015 and 2016 campaign commitment where he promised to reduce overall immigration to the U.S. His latest reduction of refugee admissions for next year to 18,000 total translates to about an 80 percent cut to former President Obama’s soaring refugee resettlement levels when nearly 85,000 refugees were admitted in a single year.
Coupled with Trump’s reduction to refugee resettlement is an executive order that will give localities and small American communities veto power over whether they want to absorb large numbers of refugees.
As Breitbart News’s Michael Patrick Leahy has extensively reported, towns in Tennessee have brought a lawsuit to sue the federal government for resettling refugees in the state without notifying state officials, local communities and residents. Other states like Maine, similarly, have been forced to take inflows of Somali refugees for years with no say in their resettlement.

***** Tina Fey and Carol Burnett  are working on a movie about Carol’s book, Carrie and me: A Mother –Daughter love story.
***** When I hear Bernie Sanders going on, I can’t help but think of Jimmy Carter. He was pushing many of these messages in the seventies. He tried to get us to have more respect for the land and to save energy and the greedy wrote him off as boring and the era of greed took over. Will we listen this time?
***** The Mueller report was finally turned over to Attorney General William Barr. This has started a whole new set of problems. Barr gives us a summary that is like springtime for Trump. He jumps right in to those that done him wrong and FISA warrants. Should congress get a look at the full report? Everyone is talking over each other and don’t seem to hear what the other is saying. Everybody piles on Adam Schiff because they think he isn’t accepting the report like a good Dem should. If they would listen, he makes it very clear that he respects the findings but they need to see the report. How dare they ask HIM to resign as Intel committee chair. It was heartwarming to see his backbone. They must quit backing down. We still don’t have the whole story but he still free to say that he thinks the actions we already know of were wrong. What the hell is wrong with that? Barr is supposed to release the heavily redacted report in mid- April. No collusion? Perhaps, Scary Clown 45 would probably not get his hands dirty. Obstruction? We’ll see. ** Tyler Mcgaughey, William Barrs son in law will now advise Trump and the White House staff. ** I am really sick of listening to the old white man POV.
***** Dow chemical has donated a mil to Trump’s campaign. Strange that Trump has blocked a report  that took years of research and shows proof of Dow toxic pesticides which jeopardizes over 1,200 endangered species.
***** US from Jordan Peele opened to 70.3 mil. Just like his last movie, critics tell us to watch it twice. How great for the bottom line.
***** John McCarty, a dead man is running for village President in Spring Bay, Il.
***** Look out for the new film, The Kid, directed by Vincent D’onofrio. The western stars Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt, Hawk , D’onofrio , MorningStar Angeline and Leila George.
***** Did you ever see the reunion movie ‘Return to Green Acres? ‘  They tried to warn us of who Trump was a long time ago. How strange that it came full circle with that ridic Emmy Green Acres thing he did.
***** Shaq has become a deputy sheriff and has also been added to the board of directors of Papa John’s where he is an investor.
***** In sexual harassment news, Lucy Flores, a former Nevada assemblywoman has accused Joe Biden of unwanted touching and kissing at a 2014 campaign event.
***** Mark Hamill will voice the Chucky doll in the new Child’s Play.
***** Law and Order will get its 21st season.
***** The daytime Emmy noms have been announced and Days got the most this year. WOO HOO! The soap was nominated for drama, writing, costume, music, casting, art direction and oh, just everything. In the acting category the lead noms are Marci Miller, Tyler Christopher and Billy Flynn.  Kate Mansi was noticed for a guest spot as Abigail so 2 actresses are up for Emmys in the same role. Other guest noms went to Thaao Penghlis and Philip Anthony Rodriguez. Kassie Depaiva, Linsey Godfrey (really?), Martha Madison, Greg Rikaart and Eric Martsolf were all nominated.  Younger actor nods went to Olivia Rose Keegan, Lucas Adams, Victoria Konefal and Kyler Pettis.  C’mon , why nothing for Lauren Koslow, Greg Vaughan, Casey Moss, Susan Seaforth Hayes and Robert Scott Wilson?? I think I would switch a few of these around but it is still great to see Days so blessed.  I was also happy to see Max Gail from GH get noticed. CBS led the networks in noms. Hooray for Wayne Brady for game show host and Mark Hamill, Ruth Negga and Steve Buscemi in animated programs. Watch for the Daytime Emmys on May 5 which will not be on television again.
***** General Robert Neller has told the Pentagon that funds diverted to the wall are keeping Marines from rebuilding hurricane hit bases.
***** Devin Nunes is suing Twitter for the parody accounts, Devin Nunes Mom and Dvin Nunes cow which is pretty funny.
***** The EU is banning straw, cotton swabs and plastic cutlery by 2021.
***** Jenny McCarthy has a book out that slams The View.
***** Roseanne is thinking about suing ABC and has said some rather nasty stuff about Sara Gilbert.
***** Michael Avenatti was arrested for trying to extort $20 mil from Nike in NY. He claims he was just doing some lawyering.  California has him on bank fraud charges.  Why is there so much shadiness in this world? Let’s start rewarding the people doing good in this world and quit talking these headlines everyday.
***** Why did this Jussie Smollett thing go away?

***** New California Gov. Gavin Newsom has halted executions for now.
***** Dems will hold their convention in Milwaukee. And if I hear again that Hillary didn’t go to these sorts of places, I am gonna puke. She went! She went! Just not so much at the end.
***** Howard Stern will release his first book in 20 years this May.
***** Ok, so glad to see Whoopie Goldberg is starting to get back to work but it is just so unbelievable in this day and age and access to info that she seemed shocked that the insurance companies decide people’s fate. Of course, that is if you are lucky enough to have insurance.
***** Sandy Hook families can take lawsuits against the gun companies to court now.** Three suicides have recently come from survivors and a parent of Parkland and Sandy Hook. The pain goes on.
***** The Senate voted 59-41 to terminate the emergency declaration. VETO
***** Rick Singer, founder if a college prep business had pled guilty to money laundering, obstruction of justice and racketeering. The nationwide college entrance exam scandal involves about 50 people including Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin that dates back to 2011. People paid millions to use ringers to take or fix their children’s exams and sometimes faked photos with coaches to include them in sports they were never involved in. The U.S. attorney does not believe the schools themselves were involved. **Lawsuits have already begun from those claiming they could not get into a good college because those spots were taken by these alleged cheaters.
***** Jennifer Hudson will play Aretha Franklin in the biopic.
***** Experts say a recession is on the horizon.
***** Two Sacramento police officers will face no charges for their overkill of the unarmed Stephon Clark. Oh Big surprise!!
***** White supremacist groups on line are growing faster than ISIS. ** I never get it, if white supremacists are so supreme, so wonderful, wouldn’t they rise to the top naturally? Why do they need to rid the world of others or keep minorities down?? If they think others are so inferior, those they hate or fear should not be a problem .
***** Jeanine Pirro was pulled off Fox news after a racist rant about Muslims. ** And where is Rudy? The lawyer hasn’t been seen on the air since January. ** Is this true? Did Ivanka and Jared really try to resign? Did Scary Clown 45 try to push them into it and then not accept those resignations?
***** This can’t be true. Only 5 states have laws requiring patient consent for medical students to do vaginal exams on women under sedation.
***** I rarely think about Jay Leno but he was right about the late night comics all doing different versions of the same joke.  But, who is he to talk? I mean how many different things did you do on OJ and Clinton?? At least these guys are funny.
***** The talk that people stay in their bubble becomes crystal clear when you see the poll asking if the President is truthful: Fox viewers : 84%, MSNBC viewers : 21% and CNN viewers: 1%. Whoa!
***** Word is that Scary Clown ordered economic advisor Gary Cohn to pressure the Justice Department to file a lawsuit to block the Att-Time Warner merger to retaliate against CNN.
***** At least 250 power plants across the country are leaking toxic chemicals into nearby water.
***** Jay Inslee is running for president! I think Stacey Abrams and Jay Inslee would be a nice ticket>
***** Beta O’Rourke is running for President! The psychedelic warlord!
***** Kristen Gillibrand is running for President!
***** Conor McGregor was arrested and charged with felony strong armed robbery and criminal mischief in Miami.
***** The process is in the works to get Trumps tax returns.** The house Judiciary committee has requested 81 documents.** This can’t be true. Trump was signing Bibles for volunteers and survivors in Alabama??
***** Just when it can’t get any weirder: Li Yang and her hubby, Zubin Gong run a string of massage parlors with questionable reputations. Until recently they ran the one that Robert Kraft was busted in. They also had a web site that seemed to sell access to their buddy, Donald Trump with Chinese business contacts. As soon as the story broke, the sites for an international consulting firm, text only in Chinese and no prices for the meets came down. Li Yang and her associates are in pictures at the inauguration, the White House, Mar A Lago and Trump’s super bowl party with the Pres, his sons and other Trump family members. We should have seen this coming. The old adage that always holds true with this administration seems true here. They always blame others for what they are really guilty of, this explains the Pizzagate garbage. This could be bigger than we ever dreamed. Even stories that we may have thought a bit out there need to be looked at closer. Can we connect the sex trafficking, the White House, the money? It is time to quit fucking around with the sellers and customers of those exploited in the sex trade. I don’t get it, all these men from Trump to R Kelly have the power over the women they supposedly use and abuse and yet they are always so angry. Perhaps they wouldn’t be losing their power if you treated others with respect and dignity. They always want all the power for themselves. And c’mon media, stop talking your heads off about the Omar story and give this Li Yang story a closer look.
***** The story of the fall of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes is a sad one. It does show that greed and massive fraud are not just for the men of this world. When I first heard of her plans for the blood testing, I was so impressed with what she was accomplishing at her age. Yes, she was another poor little rich girl whose family fortune was quite diminished by the time it got to her. Even without the Fleischman yeast money, she did seem to have advantages. I can see how some of us were fooled but what about the big investors, the stalwart statesmen?  Do they not remember that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is? How can all the hype, the press, the marketing snowball before there is any proof that something is what is actually supposed to be?? I always assumed that by the time I am hearing about it, things are about ready to go. Seeing all these stories like Trump and Deutsche bank, light sentences for Manafort and now Holmes and her partner in crime seeming to get off lightly, there is not much hope for the little guy. WHY can’t we hold those involved in big money crimes really responsible??
***** It’s true, rich people cause socialism – Neal Brennan.
***** Even in 1692 the rich were different. –Stacy Schiff- The Witches.
***** FEMA released the personal data of 2.3 million victims.
***** They have dug up old words from Fox’s Tucker Carlson. Big surprise that he seemed to empathize with Warren Jeffs, thought women should just shut up and called a woman “cunty.”  The women who lap up the words of these men must not think much of themselves.
***** Why are we letting the banks finance detention centers and prisoners? It’s more than immigration or punishing criminals. Why is this big business?? I can’t believe this is still going on. Wake up!!! When will the children be free?  C’mon House and Senate, Pass the Shut Down child prison camps bill.
***** Somebody has to pay for this President’s folly: The scary clown new budget cuts:$ 1.5 trillion from Medicaid/ $845 billion from Medicare/ &25 billion from Social Security.
***** About 1 rural hospital a month is shutting down due to lack of support and lack of funds.
***** Globalization seems to be spreading a pathogen killing the olive trees in Italy.
***** A fake Melania?? WTF? UGH!
***** Matthew Whitaker is out! Bill Shine is out!
***** When will we ever be able to buy the boxed set of Late Night with Dave?? Hurry so the next generation can see the genius they may have missed.
***** Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale??
***** Hey Bill Maher, way to go with your PETA message about the terrible treatment of the geese used to make Canada Goose down jackets.  I will stay away!!
***** J Lo and A Rod are engaged.
***** Bette Midler and Judith Light will join the cast of The Politician.
***** Jussie Smollett has been indicted on 16 felony counts.
***** HBO’s Crashing was cancelled. Pete Holmes was great in this but I never really saw much promotion for it. I hate it when good stuff falls thru the cracks.
***** Kathy Griffin has a new film about the ridiculous Trump head, nearly career ending, Government harassment crap in her life. Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a story. Make that lemonade!! A girl has to take care of herself. It premiered at SXSW.** Speaking of SXSW, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez drew great crowds while she was there.
***** R Kelly lives in Trump tower in Chicago. Well, of course he does.  Why is it ok for the rest of us to put up with these arrogant, abusive males in this society? Everyone is giving kudos to Gayle King for her calm demeanor in her interview. Yes, how professional of her but why should she be subject to that disrespect??  She is in her workplace. Would R Kelly have liked his Mother or daughter to be treated that way?
***** So, word is that Isaiah 45 is a Trump thing with the evangelicals. This scripture refers to Cyrus , the anointed one. OY!
***** Days alert: Robin Strasser is coming OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!** Judith Chapman and her old style soap acting just too much. ** C’mon Chloe and Rex!!** More Nurse Shelly!! ** Is Johnny Dimera on his way to town? ** I was so glad to see Tony, one of the best characters ever anywhere, even if it was part of an out of body experience.
***** Why do we have to keep talking about George and Kelly Ann Conway?? Are they just covering their bases? With one on each side of the Trump argument, they win no matter what happens right?
***** So now we know that about 400 Catholic clergy have been accused of sexual  misconduct in Illinois. It never ends.
***** End the electoral college!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***** S
***** Fox has hired Donna Brazile. People seem to finally be taking Bill Maher’s advice and telling their point of view to the other side. How else will sanity prevail if we don’t find common ground? We cannot look to this administration for guidance in this world, we have to figure these things out for ourselves, which we should be able to do anyway.
***** Suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds.  We have to find our self- worth.
R.I.P. Andy Anderson, Katherine Helmond, Nathaniel Taylor, Luke Perry, Alabama tornado victims, Jan Michael Vincent,  the Ethiopian airlines disaster victims, Hal Blaine, victims of the New Zealand Mosque shootings, Sydney Aiello, the Ogossogou village attack victims, Denise DuBarry, Larry Cohen, Jeremy Richman, Ray Sawyer, Tania Mallet and Nipsey Hussle.

via Politics – FiveThirtyEight
Welcome to a weekly collaboration between FiveThirtyEight and ABC News. With 5,000 people seemingly thinking about challenging President Trump in 2020 — Democrats and even some Republicans — we’re keeping tabs on the field as it develops. Each week, we’ll run through what the potential candidates are up to — who’s getting closer to officially jumping in the ring and who’s getting further away.
There are still a number potential candidates whose entrance into the 2020 field could shake up an already crowded race, and it appears many of them are coming close to revealing their plans.
There’s former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who ruled out a 2020 Senate run this week, but whose celebrity status and fundraising ability could catapult him to the top of the field.
There’s former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is reportedly looking at New York City campaign office space. And his appeal to political moderates and billions of dollars would allow him to run a self-funded campaign, where he would not be beholden to donors and money would never be a concern.
And there’s former Vice President Joe Biden, who said his family is on board, and whose strength in name-recognition and political experience has made him a de facto favorite since the day President Donald Trump won election in 2016.
While other presidential candidates are beginning to settle into their campaign routines, it won’t be long until the decisions of these three players, and several more, refresh the field and force everyone else to recalibrate their strategies.
Here’s the weekly candidate roundup:
Feb. 22-28, 2019
Stacey Abrams (D) In a podcast interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Abrams said that she is “considering” a run for Senate in 2020 against incumbent Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue.
Michael Bennet (D) During a trip to Iowa last weekend, Bennet told the Des Moines Register that he is “leaning toward” entering the presidential race. The newspaper also reported that he spent much of his four stops in the Hawkeye State speaking about education — Bennet was the superintendent of Denver Public Schools for four years.
“I think we need an education president,” Bennet told the Register. “There’s no public good that’s more important than education.”
Joe Biden (D) Biden said Tuesday at a University of Delaware event that his family has signed-off on a presidential run, explaining that after a “family meeting,” there was a “consensus.”
“The most important people in my life want me to run,” the former vice president said.
As for the timeline of his own decision, Biden revealed that he is in the “final stages” of the process and told the New York Times that a potential campaign would begin during the year’s second quarter.
“It’s something that I have to make sure that I could run a first-rate effort to do this and make clear where I think the country should go and how to get there,” he said publicly. “That’s the process going on right now. That’s as straightforward as I can be. I have not made the final decision, but don’t be surprised.”
Michael Bloomberg (D) Bloomberg picked up a preemptive endorsement from fellow billionaire Warren Buffett, who revealed his affinity for the former New York City mayor in an interview with CNBC.
“I think that he knows how to run things, I think that he’s got the right goals for America, he understands people, he understands the market system,” Buffett said.
Politico reported Thursday that representatives of Bloomberg were beginning to look at office space in New York City and interviewing potential staffers.
Bloomberg stopped in Nevada Tuesday to praise the state’s new gun background check law. During a news conference related to the legislation he noted that he was still undecided on a presidential run.
(Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada via AP) Former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg addresses a group of business and government leaders at the Asia Pacific Foundation in Toronto, Jan. 15, 2019.
Cory Booker (D) Booker introduced legislation Thursday that would legalize marijuana at the federal level, and was joined by several 2020 rivals, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Kristen Gillibrand, D-N.Y., who cosponsored the bill.
In a statement, the New Jersey senator noted that the “war on drugs,” disproportionately affected “people of color and low-income individuals.”
On Tuesday, Booker earned the first endorsement from an Iowa state lawmaker, courtesy of state Rep. Amy Nielsen, who pointed to their shared experiences as mayors and his “message of optimism and unity.”
After making his first visit to Nevada last weekend, Booker travels to South Carolina Friday and Saturday and will speak in Selma, Alabama Sunday in commemoration of the 1965 “Bloody Sunday” march.
Sherrod Brown (D) Brown took his “dignity of work” message to Nevada earlier this week, where he said that if he chooses to run for president, he’ll be “the most pro-union candidate.”
“We will have a government on the side of workers, not a government on the side of big corporations,” the Ohio senator told members of the Culinary Union Saturday in Las Vegas.
Speaking to reporters Wednesday, however, Brown said he has yet to reach a final decision on a presidential run, but would do so by the end of March.
Pete Buttigieg (D) During a visit to California, the South Bend, Indiana mayor told the San Francisco Chronicle that Democrats need to talk more about their values, and ultimately could make the presidential election solely a referendum about Trump.
“We’ve got to have a message that makes sense and that recognizes that this president is going to come and go. So it can’t be all about him,” Buttigieg said.
Buttigieg heads back to Iowa Monday for his second visit since announcing his presidential exploratory committee, with events in Davenport, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
Julian Castro (D) Castro described himself as the “antithesis of Donald Trump” in an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune, saying that he was working to end the country’s divisions and demonstrate “honesty and integrity.”
The former Housing and Urban Development secretary further said he was going to visit all 50 states as part of his presidential campaign, adding four to his list in the past week with stops in Utah, Idaho and Nevada after a road trip through Iowa last weekend.
(Mary Schwalm/AP) Julian Castro, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, speaks at Saint Anselm College, Jan. 16, 2019, in Manchester, N.H.
Bill de Blasio (D) The New York City mayor visited Iowa last weekend, where he spoke to a crowd of 40 people at a union hall and met with former Gov. Tom Vilsack.
De Blasio acknowledged that he is “not a candidate at this moment,” but argued that Democrats “have to have a progressive as our nominee.”
“We have to be able to speak to working people across our whole country,” he continued. “We also have to have a nominee who is believable as a leader in such an important position.”
John Delaney (D) Delaney visited Clemson University in South Carolina Wednesday where he shared his idea for a national service program, discussed developing a national artificial intelligence strategy and was complimentary of the Trump administration’s efforts to engage with North Korea — though noted he was concerned the president would make a “terrible deal,” according to The Greenville News.
Kirsten Gillibrand (D) Gillibrand defended a planned fundraiser at a pharmaceutical executive’s home where tickets cost upwards of $1,000 during a Fox News interview on Monday, saying that the executive in question was a long-time friend and that it was the influence of corporate political action committees that was more problematic.
“I think you do need to get money out of politics,” the New York senator said. “The most important thing we have to do is upend the way our democracy functions. Today, the wealthiest most powerful lobbyists and special interests groups get to write bills in the dead of night.”
In the interview, Gillibrand further labelled climate change “the greatest threat to humanity we have” and compared ambitious efforts, such as the Green New Deal, to combat the issue to the challenge of putting a man on the moon in the 1960s.
Kamala Harris (D) The California senator made headlines Tuesday when she told The Root that she believed sex work should be decriminalized, though cautioned that the issue wasn’t “as simple as that.”
“There is an ecosystem around that that includes crimes that harm people, and for those issues, I do not believe that anybody who hurts another human being or profits off of their exploitation should be free of criminal prosecution,” Harris said. “But when you’re talking about consenting adults, we should consider that we can’t criminalize consensual behavior.”
After spending last weekend in Iowa, Harris made her first visit to Nevada as a presidential candidate Thursday to hold a town hall and participate in the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit.
John Hickenlooper (D) The former Colorado governor continues to take steps towards a presidential run, expected to be announced some time in early March. Last weekend, Hickenlooper held meet-and-greet events in Sioux City and Carroll, Iowa, and spoke at the Story County Democrats’ Annual Soup Dinner.
A spokesperson for Hickenlooper told the Associated Press that he has raised over $1 million for his political action committee.
(Brennan Linsley/AP Photo) Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper delivers his annual State of the State address to lawmakers and guests, inside the state legislature, in Denver, Jan. 14, 2016.
Larry Hogan (R) As speculation grows that the Maryland governor could launch a challenge to Trump, Hogan asked in a Washington Post interview why the Republican National Committee was taking steps to declare its support for the president and potentially shutdown primaries.
“If he has unanimous support and everybody is on board, why shut down the normal process?” Hogan said. “It’s almost like a hostage situation.”
Referring to the governor specifically on Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel said that any other potential challengers to Trump “have the right to jump in and lose.”
Jay Inslee (D) The Washington governor is expected to launch a presidential campaign within days, teasing as much during an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” last weekend, and telling NBC that he’s made up his mind.
“I’ve been pleased by what I’ve been hearing across the country, that people do want a president that will act on a real emergency which is climate change,” Inslee said on CBS. “Look, we’re fighting real emergencies. The forest fires that are consuming the western United States. They need a president who will rally the nation to a clean energy economy.”
The governor went on to say that climate change would be his “number one priority.”
Amy Klobuchar (D) Klobuchar faced criticism after a New York Times report last Friday detailed her treatment of her staff, including throwing binders and phones in frustration and forcing an aide to clean a comb she used to eat a salad on a plane when it was brought to her without a fork. The senator’s defenders have characterized the anecdotes as inflated and claimed that as a female politician, Klobuchar was being held to a higher standard of behavior than her male counterparts.
The senator spent last weekend campaigning in South Carolina and New Hampshire, after a visit to Georgia where she met with former President Jimmy Carter.
Beto O’Rourke (D) The former Texas congressman said Thursday that he has reached a decision about his political future, but that it won’t include a challenge of Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who is up for reelection in 2020.
Though O’Rourke did not yet reveal whether that decision includes a presidential campaign, The Dallas Morning News reported that he is likely to enter the race and could make such an announcement in the next few weeks.
Bernie Sanders (D) During a CNN town hall, Sanders shared rare praise for Trump, ahead of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, describing the summit as a “good idea” if it leads to eventual denuclearization. The Vermont senator further outlined his Medicare-for-all plan, pledged higher corporate tax rates and said that the allegations of sexual harassment within his 2016 campaign were “very painful” and “will not happen again.”
Sanders also pledged to support the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential nominee, no matter who that person is, because “Trump has got to be defeated.”
Just over one week after launching his campaign, Sanders is holding rallies in Brooklyn and Chicago this weekend, with a stop in between in Selma, Alabama to speak at the Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King Unity Breakfast, which is honoring his former 2016 rival Hillary Clinton.

Elizabeth Warren (D) Warren announced Monday that she will not hold private events that are limited to major donors.
“That means no fancy receptions or big money fundraisers only with people who can write the big checks,” she wrote in a post on Medium. “And when I thank the people giving to my campaign, it will not be based on the size of their donation. It means that wealthy donors won’t be able to purchase better seats or one-on-one time with me at our events. And it means I won’t be doing “call time,” which is when candidates take hours to call wealthy donors to ask for their support.”
In the midst of Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen’s testimony on Capitol Hill Wednesday, the Massachusetts senator said that if she is elected president “there will be no pardons for anyone implicated in these investigations.”
After visiting New Hampshire last weekend, Warren will spend Friday and Saturday in Iowa, with events in Dubuque, Elkader and Waterloo.
Andrew Yang (D) In an interview with WMUR in New Hampshire, Yang said he was concerned about the ages of some of his presidential opponents and potential rivals, citing Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and former Vice President Joe Biden, who are 77 and 76 years old, respectively. He added that Trump’s 72 years are “probably playing into his mental health.”
“I do think that given the importance of the position, it would make sense to have some sort of transparency where if someone is past a certain age, then there should be some sort of physical or some sort of health report,” Yang added.

Bernie Sanders Becomes New Millionaire
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), April 16, 2019.--Releasing 10 years of federal tax returns, 77-year-old Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) had some explaining to do after it revealed he’s become a millionaire since his 2016 presidential campaign.  Sanders routinely rails against millionaires-and-billionaires, talking about the shrinking U.S. middle class, but, more importantly, the obscene levels of wealth controlled by less that one percent of the population.  Bernie’s returns showed he earned an Adjusted Gross Income of $461.293 in 2018, $1,131,925 in 2017 and $1,062,626 in 2016, revealing he’s in the top one percent of U.S. income earners.  Speaking at a Fox News town hall in Bethlehem, Pa., Sanders told hosts Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum that he wouldn’t apologize for writing a best-selling book.  Bernie’s answer for paying for his Medicare-for-All health care is to hike the taxes on corporations and one-percenters.
Before Sander’s best-selling books “Our Revolution” and “Where We Go From Here,” Sanders earned $205,271 in 2014, when he was a lowly member of the U.S. Senate.  Baier asked Sanders whether he benefited from President Donald Trump’s tax cuts, something he’s attacked since Trump signed Tex Reform Dec. 22, 2017. Questioned about his new-found riches, Sanders got defensive.  “It comes from a book I wrote, pretty good book,” Sanders told Baier and MacCallum. “If anyone thinks that I should apologize for writing a best-selling book, I’m sorry, I not going to do it,” recognizing the inconsistency of ranting about Trump’s tax cuts, while, at the same time, benefiting Bernie.  Bernie urged Trump to release his taxes, something Democrats have pressured Trump to do since the 2016 election. Bernie likes to keep the focus off himself and onto what can be done to save the American middle class.
Bernie’s campaign in 2016 and now in 2019 has much in common, talking about spreading around the wealth in the United States. Pointing out that the U.S. is the richest Western democracy without national health care, Bernie advocates Medicare-for-All but can’t explain how he’d pay for the estimated $100 trillion price tag.  Talking about taxing corporations and the rich doesn’t come close to the cash needed for the government to finance national health care.  Citing Canada or Scandinavia countries as models of national health care, Bernie doesn’t see the differences in population.  Average populations in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland, are well under 6 million people.  Even Canada, with its 37 million population, ranked 11th in global GDP, has about one-fifteenth the GDP of the U.S. Sanders Medicare-for-All plan would shrink U.S. GDP by 10%, plunging the economy into recession.
Baier and MacCallum tried to get Bernie off his high horse, looking at reality, not pie-in-the-sky.  In Bernie’s world the federal government should subsidize free health care, college tuition and continue funding Social Security and Medicare benefits for the elderly and disabled.  Bernie says he won’t apologize for doing well with his best-selling books.  But what would he do if he plunged the U.S. economy into recession, causing today’s unemployment to skyrocket back to double-digits.  Speaking on Fox News, Bernie called Trump a “pathological liar,” because he made a campaign gaffe about his father’s German birthplace, when, in fact, he was born in the Bronx in 1905.  Bernie gave his typical spiel, giving his utopian vision of the future with free health care and college tuition.  His message appeals to young people, too buried in college debt to get close to the American Dream.
Several Democrat candidates like Senators Kristen Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) have adopted some of Bernie’s promises, especially when it comes to health care and free college tuition.  Rep. Beto O’Rourke has copied Bernie’s talking points, creating a populous message appealing to young voters.  Sanders now finds himself dogged by his new-found riches, undercutting his message about spreading around the wealth.   Bernie has difficulty talking about how he’s going to pay for his Medicare-for-All and free college tuition, not to mention his trillion dollar infrastructure program designed to put millions of Americans back to work. Bernie has difficulty when asked about how the numbers add up, largely because they don’t.  Whether he’s a true believer or not, the Bethlehem, Pa. audience liked his message.
Bernie has no answer for how he became a millionaire after running-and-losing in the Democrat primaries to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.  While there’s nothing wrong with Bernie cashing in on is new-found fame, it’s still difficult for the self-avowed Democrat Socialist to accept himself a red-blooded American capitalist.  Talking about raising taxes on corporations and high-income earners, Bernie can’t explain the impact of tax hikes on the U.S. poor and middle class.  If the nation plunges into recession, Bernie has no answer how ordinary citizens would pay for food, rent, health care or anything else.  Bernie admitted that only slamming Trump won’t win Democrats the White House in 2020.  It’s difficult for Democrats to rip the president’s performance on the U.S. economy.  Voters will have to ask themselves in 2020 whether they’re willing to change horses.

Closing arguments began Monday at Brooklyn federal court in the sex trafficking trial of NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere, who stands accused of violating young illegal immigrant girls from Mexico and imprisoning them on threat of deportation by the cult. Human experiments and Satanism-inspired rituals took place at the cult, according to the mountains of evidence exposed by this historic trial of the new century. “The defendant tapped into a never-ending flow of women and money,” the prosecution said of Raniere Monday, calling him a “crime boss with no limits and no checks on his power.” Evidence shows how the NXIVM sex cult illegally raised money for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, how it counted Clinton friend Richard Mays and Kirsten Gillibrand’s stepmother as active members and Gillibrand’s father as an employee, and how the cult’s “ally” Chuck Schumer was compromised by virtue of the cult possessing his financial records. Raniere Made Child Porn Featuring Mexican Child Sex Slave Latest: Remember, Fox's Washington Head of Government Relations Is A Former Joe Biden Staffer FBI special agent Meagan Rees presented more than twelve images of child pornography allegedly produced by NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere in Raniere’s trial Thursday at Brooklyn federal court. Raniere stands accused of sex trafficking during his tenure atop the elite upstate New York sex cult, where he was branding female sex slaves. NXIVM Imported Illegal Immigrants and Gave Them Fake ID’s To Break Immigration Law A former NXIVM sex cult slave named “Daniela” testified in the trial of Raniere, noting that she joined the cult at age 16 in 2002. The alleged visa and immigration fraud involved in Daniela’s years with the cult underscores the extent to which NXIVM had deep connections to powerful people in Mexico, including Emiliano Salinas, the son of a former Mexican president. Robert Gavin of the Albany Times-Union reported: The witness then described how she was given a fake ID by the sex cult and had a traumatizing experience with Raniere, alongside her sister, noting, “I stayed there crying. That was Christmas,” according to Gavin. The witness also knew that Raniere was involved in a sexual relationship with her sister, who was under the age of 18. Raniere Wanted Human Branding Rituals To Be Satanic, Like Human Sacrifice The NXIVM sex cult’s leader Keith Raniere, now on trial in Brooklyn for sex trafficking and racketeering, aimed for his branding of female sex slaves to be “like a sacrifice,” referring to the practice of human sacrifice, which is practiced in Satanic rituals. “Do you think the person who’s being branded should be held to the table, almost like a sacrifice?” Raniere said to his onetime co-conspirator Allison Mack in a 2017 conversation that was captured on audiotape. “That’s a feeling of submission…It probably should be a more vulnerable position. Laying on the back, legs spread straight, held to the table. Hands above the head, probably held, almost like sacrificial.” NXIVM Had The Financial Records of ‘Ally’ Chuck Schumer, and Hillary Clinton’s Emails NXIVM sex cult’s deep oppposition research files on its political enemies including Roger Stone came up at trial. Documents from the archives are shedding light on how the sex cult stored data on top politicians including Chuck Schumer — whom the cult viewed as a “friendly” ally according to ex-employee Frank Parlato — and Hillary Clinton. The Albany Times-Union noted in 2015: “A former close confidant of Keith Raniere, founder of the NXIVM corporation, claims top officials in the secretive organization used a Canadian investigative firm or other means to sift the financial records of six federal judges and U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., according to court records. The former NXIVM insider, Kristin M. Keeffe, said that Seagramsheiress Clare W. Bronfman, who oversees NXIVM’s operations, ordered the financial probes at the direction of Raniere, 55. The six judges whose financial records Keeffe alleges were analyzed have all presided over cases involving NXIVM or its perceived adversaries and critics…The allegations by Keeffe, 45, are outlined in emails attributed to her that were filed recently in Albany County Court…Keeffe broke away from NXIVM in February 2014 and is in hiding, according to correspondence and conversations attributed to her in court records filed in Albany County…” So the NXIVM cult had information on Schumer. The Times-Union reported in 2015: Clare W. Bronfman, an heiress of the Seagram Company business empire, allegedly implanted a “key logger” virus on the computer of her late father, Edgar M. Bronfman Sr., so officials with the NXIVM corporation could secretly monitor his emails, including his exchanges with world leaders and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to court records. The extraordinary allegations are attributed to Kristen M. Keeffe, who was part of the inner circle that ran NXIVM, a “human development” organization that has been described by one expert as an “extreme cult.” The accusations by Keeffe are contained in a transcript of a telephone conversation that took place last March between Keeffe and Barbara J. Bouchey, a former NXIVM executive board member who is facing computer trespassing charges in Albany that accuse her and three others of improperly accessing the corporation’s website.’” Times-Union passage ends A former NXIVM member testified in the trial of cult leader Keith Raniere that the sex cult illegally raised money for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. Big League Politics first reported this bombshell information, which is now confirmed by a witness under oath. The New York Post reports: “Bronfman funneled thousands of dollars into Clinton’s campaign coffers — far in excess of legal limits to contributions — to “curry favor” with the powerhouse political family, according to Mark Vicente, a documentary filmmaker and former member of the Nxivm group that is accused of keeping women as sex slaves. “Clare Bronfman approached other people and said she would like to make a campaign contribution but she couldn’t make it above a certain amount,” Vicente testified in Brooklyn federal court Monday. “I wrote a check. She paid me back.” New York Post passage ends NXIVM whistleblower Frank Parlato appeared exclusively on The Campaign Show with Patrick Howley on Patriots Soapbox (Sunday nights, 6-PM Eastern) to discuss Keith Raniere’s trial prior to the trial kicking off. Parlato made it clear that Hillary Clinton was happy to accept the money from the NXIVM cult. (COURT DOCS Confirm Prosecutors Attempting To Introduce Clinton Evidence). Parlato described how NXIVM imported teenage girls from Mexico, how the cult viewed Chuck Schumer as a “friendly” Democrat ally, and many other bombshells. WATCH. Kirsten Gillibrand’s Family Is Deeply Involved In NXIVM I reported: Democrat senator and presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand’s family ties to the NXIVM sex cult are coming to light, raising serious questions about her relationship with the cult that she once denied knowing about. Gillibrand’s father and stepmother, who are second cousins, were both heavily involved in the cult in the period shortly before they got married, according to eyewitness accounts from ex-NXIVM employees who spoke on the record to Big League Politics, and according to court documents proving that Gillibrand’s father Doug Rutnik was employed by NXIVM. Gillibrand’s father served as a broker between NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere — whose initials were branded on his female sex slaves — and the then-New York attorney general to resolve Raniere’s financial problems with the state, according to ex-employee whistleblower Joseph O’Hara, whose revelations are printed below. Gillibrand’s stepmother Gwenn Belcourt got “hooked” on the cult as did Bill Clinton’s close friend Richard Mays, according to the whistleblower. Nancy Salzman, the NXIVM president, acted as a personal “guru” for Gillibrand’s stepmother. Ex-cult employee Frank Parlato — who exposed the fact that Raniere was branding women — is working with Big League Politics to uncover the deep longstanding links between Gillibrand, the Clintons, and NXIVM. “The very first time I ever met Gillibrand she was at an event for Hillary Clinton in the Hall of Springs in the State Park. This was in 2006. I was at a table with a Russian friend and Mike Roohan and his wife. I was on the Democratic committee at the time and was given two comp tickets. Gillibrand came up to me introduced herself and said she was running against John Sweeney. This was before all the stories of his drunken behavior came out. He was still congressman kickass at that time. I promised my support and wished her well. i than commented to Mike that with her baby voice and demeanor that she was a lightweight. Boy was I wrong. But the kicker was when the mixing was over and Clinton went to speak. Gillibrand sat with one of the front tables. Yeah the three front VIP tables were all brought by NXIVM and she was sitting with Nancy Salzman. You can quote me on that,” said witness John Tighe in a statement provided to Big League Politics. Nancy Salzman has pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy while her daughter Lauren Salzman admitted to enslaving a woman, stating in court, “I knowingly and intentionally harbored Jane Doe 4, a woman whose identity is known to me, in a room in the home in the Northern District of New York” and “threatened to deport Jane Doe 4 back to Mexico if she did not complete labor requested by myself and others.” JOSEPH O’HARA TELLS BIG LEAGUE POLITICS HIS NXIVM STORY Joseph O’Hara was living in Saratoga Springs at the time, and a woman he met socially called him up out of the blue and asked for him to meet with the leaders of NXIVM. “I agreed to meet with them. We met the very next day. We had coffee and that’s when I was introduced to Nancy Salzman, the president of NXIVM, and she described to me the various problems they were having,” O’Hara said, referring to lawsuits, public relations issues, and governmental issues stemming from trying to get a building permit for a NXIVM center. “I said give me a day or two,” O’Hara said. “After I thought about it, I wrote back to them and said I don’t think there’s anything I can do personally but I can play centerfielder and pull in people you need. I think you need a bigger law firm on this. Yes I can get you a PR firm that can come in and help you. That’s what I proposed to them, that I would be a middle man.” “They hired me in October of 2003 and I worked for them for 15 months. At the end of 2004 a variety of issues had come up and I resigned.” O’Hara, whose official title was “consultant,” said he “met primarily with Keith” Raniere and with bookeeper Cathy Russell and legal liaison Kristin Keefe. O’Hara remembers Raniere vividly. “I thought he was a little strange. He was an odd fellow. Before I met him I had been told a lot about him. I guess when I met him I was a little underwhelmed,” O’Hara said, referring to a tall tale about how Raniere supposedly tied a record in the hundred-yard dash. Raniere held volleyball games with the women in his cult, but O’Hara did not attend. Kirsten Gillibrand’s Father Doug Rutnik Acted As A Broker Between NXIVM and the then-New York Attorney General “I had known Doug Rutnik for a number of years. He was one of the people I thought of immediately for a couple of the problems that he (Raniere) had,” O’Hara said, including the fact that Raniere agreed to pay a certain amount of money to New York State stemming from the bankruptcy of his previous venture Consumer’s Buyline. “Keith never made the payments. I think it was around 45 or 50 thousand dollars.” “I contacted Doug, and explained to him the situation. Doug could be the broker between Keith and the attorney general” O’Hara said. “Doug and I, Nancy and Keith had lunch at a little club. Keith came in and looked like a young middle-aged business exec. Doug said let’s check this out a little further,” O’Hara remembers. NXIVM was trying to get a license for a school. The meeting occurred at the Fort Orange Club in Albany in 2004, according to O’Hara. O’Hara hired a third party attorney in Albany to take a 5-day executive course at NXIVM, and the attorney expressed concerns about the group potentially not paying taxes and “living off the grid.” Doug Rutnik’s Second Cousin, Gillibrand’s Future Stepmother, Got Very Involved “Doug said I know somebody else I could send in. It’s his cousin Gwenn Belcourt. She comes back with rave reviews and Doug gets hired. Keith comes up with the money and pays off the attorney general.” Thus, Gillibrand’s father acted as the broker between NXIVM and the then-New York attorney general after Gillibrand’s future stepmother Gwenn Belcourt gave NXIVM her full seal of approval. “Doug was the one, I don’t know who he talked to, but he was the one who got the okay for…NXIVM sent Doug the check, and it was expressly to resolve the issue over Consumers Buyline. And then the issue went away.” “Gwenn and I met. Doug said let’s have Gwenn go in and take a week-long course. She went in and she wrote up a report and was extremely positive. No issues with the schooling. No issues with the curriculum” at the NXIVM Center, O’Hara recalled. “He told me this is my second cousin Gwenn. She was engaged at the time. She was a lawyer, someone Doug trusted.” “Things were happening, one right after the other. Gwenn comes in, she writes the report, and Doug is doing work for them.” “Meanwhile Gwenn does her thing and she starts taking more classes on her own. We paid for the one class she took…at some point Doug says, this is getting a little weird with Gwenn. He said she broke off her engagement because Nancy told her she needed to re-think her life. Nancy Salzman became Gwenn’s personal guru. She wanted to bring Gwenn in as full-time in-house counsel.” “I know that she was taking a lot of classes at NXIVM,” O’Hara said of Gwenn Belcourt. “NXIVM initiates a lawsuit against me and Doug, and Gwenn is still involved in NXIVM at that point. Doug goes in like a rescue mission. He finally convinces her what’s going on there and she leaves NXIVM. The next thing I know all of a sudden he said Gwenn and I are dating now. Shortly after that they’re engaged.” “For several years, I saw them after they were married,” O’Hara said, noting that the couple was no longer in the cult. Clinton Friend Richard Mays and Gillibrand’s Stepmother Gwenn Belcourt Both Got “Hooked” on the Cult “I had done work down in Arkansas, I had met Richard (Mays) down there. He had great connections with Governor Clinton. His lieutenant governor Tucker became governor. I was trying to get in to make a presentation to the governor. Richard got me the meeting. He got me the meeting with Jim Guy Tucker,” O’Hara said. “One of the other problems Keith had, he had an unpaid bill in Arkansas and he wanted to get an exoneration in Arkansas so he brought Richard Mays in and he got involved. Richard Mays started taking classes and got his daughter taking classes” at NXIVM. “There were people who got hooked on it. Richard Mays was one. Gwenn Belcourt was another,” O’Hara said. “I Had Created This Monster” O’Hara said that he uncovered Raniere evading taxes and illegally obtaining private investigator information on his enemies, which led him to quit. NXIVM then waged lawfare against him. “They destroyed me. I had created this monster. They didn’t know how to get political consultants. They didn’t know how to hire former senator D’Amato, they didn’t know how to hire Richard Mays out of Arkansas, best friends with the Clintons. They had all these people now in their arsenal and they destroyed me in short order,” O’Hara said. Raniere once admitted in a videotape pulled from the Internet, “I am just a demon.” PROOF RUTNIK WORKED FOR NXIVM Former NXIVM employee Frank Parlato provided Big League Politics with copies of the court documents in NXIM’s suit against Rutnik, which prove Rutnik’s employment by the group. (READ THE FULL DOCUMENTS HERE). “I worked as the publicist,” Frank Parlato told Big League Politics. “We ran into a major disagreement and we split. At the time I worked for them I thought they were a little peculiar but it wasn’t until the end that I realized they were a downright evil group.” “There are women on the record who are now adults who have accused Raniere of statutory rape and there are some very suspicious incidents where Mexican girls came under the perimeters of Raniere’s control and left under suspicious circumstances. They came from Chihuahua Mexico. I reported this to the authorities,” Parlato said. “Her father Doug Rutnik came to work as a consultant for NXIVM…he was fired, they sued him, and he had to pay them $100,000,” Parlato said, referring Gillibrand’s father. Parlato is the NXIVM whistleblower who blew the lid off the case, including the revelation that NXIVM leader Keith Raniere’s cult was branding women with his initials. “Her father’s wife, her stepmother, was also a member of NXIVM…Doug got her into the cult, Gillibrand’s father got Gillibrand’s future stepmother into the cult. Doug left the cult because he was sued. Clare Bronfman after her father was sued donated money to Gillibrand. Gillibrand accepted it.” “One is inclined to call her a liar,” Parlato says of Gillibrand. Anti-Human Trafficking Citizens Point To The Bronfman Family’s Land Deals Peter D’Abrosca reported for Big League Politics in June 2018: Land owned by CEMEX, a multinational building materials company headquartered in Mexico, is at the center of a controversy in Tuscon, AZ, where citizens say that they have uncovered a sex-trafficking bunker which local authorities have refused to examine. Big League Politics reported on the grisly scene, with photos from the alleged sex-trafficking site. After alerting local and federal law enforcement about the situation and receiving no help, Veterans on Patrol rallied local volunteers together to physically dig up the site. VOP has amassed a groundswell of support, and has vowed to keep the uncooperative law enforcement entities out of the site while they conduct a private investigation. They are hopeful to bring cadaver dogs on site to search the area. The local news media has stopped reporting on the group’s activities. The situation came to a head Sunday afternoon when, according to the group, they dug up a bloody knife, female underwear, and the plane ticket of a potentially missing girl from Seattle. The group is trying to contact the girl’s family for verification. They filmed the finding live on Facebook, and shortly thereafter, the police showed up and arrested two members of the group for trespassing. The Rothschild connection to CEMEX is clear. Bronfman E.L. Rothschild L.P., a wealth management firm for high net value clients, owns a substantial share of the concrete giant: The CEO of Bronfman E.L. Rothschild is Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations: The Mayor of Tuscon is named Jonathan Rothschild, but it is unconfirmed whether he is related to the dynastic family. The Chairman of the Board of Bronfman E.L. Rothschild is Matthew Bronfman, one of the heirs to the Seagram’s Liquor fortune: Bronfman’s sister, Clare Bronfman is the Operations Director of the Clinton-connected NXIVM sex cult. His other sister, Sara Bronfman, is a Clinton Global Initiative member.

Trump on Democrats calling to abolish ICE: "I love that issue"
President Trump said he hopes that Democrats who are calling to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “keep thinking about it.”
“Because they’re going to get beaten so badly,” he said.
Mr. Trump made the comments to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo in an interview that will air on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Features” with Maria Bartiromo at 10 a.m.
“You know ICE, these are the guys that go in and take MS-13, and they take them out,” Mr. Trump said. “Because they’re much tougher than MS-13, like by a factor of 10. And these are the ones – you get rid of ICE you’re going to have a country that you’re going to be afraid to walk out of your house. I love that issue if they’re going to actually do that.”
Mr. Trump also tweeted Saturday morning from New Jersey that the elimination of ICE will “never happen.”
To the great and brave men and women of ICE, do not worry or lose your spirit. You are doing a fantastic job of keeping us safe by eradicating the worst criminal elements. So brave! The radical left Dems want you out. Next it will be all police. Zero chance, It will never happen!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 30, 2018
Sens. Kristen Gillibrand of New York and Kamala Harris of California have suggested the agency responsible for enforcing immigration laws be eliminated.
On CNN Thursday, Gillibrand said ICE has “become a deportation force” and said, “you should get rid of it, start over, reimagine it and build something that actually works.” Harris said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that the nation’s immigration enforcement should “start from scratch” by eliminating ICE.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old former bartender who suddenly rose to prominence after defeating Rep. Joe Crowley in a New York Democratic congressional primary last week, started the calls to abolish ICE.
Democrats who have suggested abolishing the agency have yet to propose what agency or strategy might replace it.
The president’s approach to immigration has come under renewed scrutiny since the revelation that the administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy involved the separation of families at the U.S.-Mexico border. Mr. Trump signed an executive order to end those separations, but many children still remain apart from their parents. The Trump administration has asked a federal judge to allow the government to detain families together for longer than the current 20-day legal limit.
A Republican push for a comprehensive immigration bill that would have, among other things, addressed the family separation issue failed on Wednesday, with more than 100 Republicans voting against the measure.
Mr. Trump has tweeted that Republicans are “wasting their time on immigration” and should wait until after the midterm elections to find a legislative fix.
Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November. Dems are just playing games, have no intention of doing anything to solves this decades old problem. We can pass great legislation after the Red Wave!

What do these two men have in common?
They are both bigots and haters, they have both broken the law, and they are both so well-loved by Donald Trump that he has used his pardon pen to exonerate them of any wrongdoing.  Sorry, Trump, they are both ugly people without a shred of humanity and in my book, they are still guilty.
Until the reign of Trump, arguably the most controversial presidential pardon had been that of Gerald Ford pardoning Richard Nixon.  Nixon committed a crime, rigged an election, and did not deserve to be pardoned.  But I would argue that the pardons of Joe Arpaio and Dinesh D’Souza are even worse than Nixon’s.  Why?  Because Nixon was done, there was no way he was going to be allowed back into the political arena after Watergate.  Arpaio, however, has been unleashed upon the nation and is now running for a seat in the U.S. Senate.  D’Souza?  Who knows what doors this pardon may open for him, and while it is too late for him to run for a congressional seat this year, I would not be surprised to see him on the ballot in 2020.
You already know about Joe Arpaio, and if you need a memory refresher, you can check him out here.  So, let’s talk a little bit about D’Souza.
D’Souza is an uber-conservative political commentator, author, filmmaker, and convicted felon.  He was an avid Obama-hater and in fact seems to hate anything and anybody associated with the Democratic Party.  His crime?  Campaign finance fraud.  He donated 5 times the FEC limit on direct contributions ($5,000) by an individual to a PAC in the campaign of Wendy Long, the longshot Republican nominee running against Kristen Gillibrand for US Senate in New York in 2012.  He did this by using his friends as a ‘pass-through’ for contributions of $5,000 each.  Campaign finance violations are felonies, and D’Souza pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a $30,000 fine, five years’ probation, and eight months in a community confinement center (halfway house).  D’Souza served his time, but only at night … he merely went there to sleep, and his days were unsupervised.
D’Souza is an intellectual who was once well-respected within the Republican Party, but in recent years has turned more toward conspiracy theories against Democrats, and specifically against President Obama and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
As I was writing this post, a news flash came across my screen that Trump is also considering pardoning Martha Stewart and commuting the sentence of Rod Blagojevich.  Huh???  Did the man just wake up this morning and decide to pardon everyone?
Generally, those seeking pardons must wait five years from the date they are released from confinement before becoming eligible, and they must apply to the Office of the Pardon Attorney.  Joe Arpaio never served a day in prison, thanks to Trump’s pardon which came shortly after he was convicted of criminal contempt of court.  D’Souza was only convicted in 2014, and did not even file an application for pardon.
Martha Stewart, convicted in 2004 of insider trading and lying, doesn’t much bother me, for I consider her beneath serious thought. For the life of me, though, I cannot understand why Trump would want to pardon her. But Blagojevich was the governor of Illinois when he was convicted for trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama.  Would Trump’s pardon allow him to re-enter politics?  Let’s hope not.
The conclusion we can draw from this latest madness is that Trump believes that the laws are there for some people, but that they do not apply to him, and that he can decide to whom they do apply.  Now, granted there have been questionable and controversial pardons throughout history.  But those are in the past, and we are living in the present, the reign of Trump that I am seriously beginning to think of as the Second Reign of Terror.  Is Trump pardoning these people to add to his list of loyal sycophants?
And now, I raise the question:  Who will Trump pardon next?  Whose sentence might he try to commute?  Dylan Roof who murdered 9 people in a church in 2015?  Can he pardon a murderer?  Under certain circumstances, yes.
Article 2, Section 2, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution reads:
“The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”
The only people he cannot pardon are those who are impeached, or those who are convicted of a state criminal offense.  I have mentioned before that it may be time for some serious revisions to the Constitution.  I repeat.  The framers of the Constitution never, in their wildest nightmares, could have imagined the madman who now occupies the White House.  They honestly trusted the American people with having the good sense to select only the best people to oversee our government.  I have the greatest respect for the Founding Fathers, but … boy did they screw up on that trust thing!
Tumblr media
Somebody Please Take His Pardon Pen? What do these two men have in common? They are both bigots and haters, they have both broken the law, and they are both so well-loved by Donald Trump that he has used his pardon pen to exonerate them of any wrongdoing.

REPORT: Caroline Kennedy Preparing to DEFEAT Donald Trump in Historic Move
Caroline Kennedy lost her Ambassador post in Japan when Trump took office. He sent her packing and hasn’t even bothered to name a replacement.
But according to the New York Post, she’s not done with public service. Kennedy is planning to run for the U.S. senate in 2018.
First, she’s going to be penning a memoir, but then she’ll be getting down to work. She plans to follow in the footsteps of her uncle Robert Kennedy, and run for a New York senate seat.
She plans to target the seat of Democratic Senator Kristen Gillibrand. Or she could run for Rep. Kristen Gillibrand’s House seat instead.
This is great news for progressives. Caroline Kennedy has the Kennedy name and recognition, but none of the baggage.
Kennedy had a very successful tour of duty as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan. She worked on fostering better relations with the country.
Kennedy can easily use that experience as a launching pad for a Congressional run. She has plenty of funds to support her campaign as well.
Kennedy has a net worth between $80 and $500 million according to Bloomberg. She also receives between $12 and $30 million a year from Kennedy trust funds.
She has much of the popularity of Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton among Progressives, but no baggage. So securing campaign donations won’t be a problem.
But her aspirations don’t end there. According to an unnamed source, “Caroline had a successful ambassadorial run in Japan and feels really very confident about putting her hat in the ring for a New York congressional or Senate seat, with even possibly bigger political objectives down the road”
“Down the road” could include a run for president in 2020. She would be a strong candidate to run against the Republicans.
Are you excited about Caroline Kennedy’s political aspirations? Please share this post on Facebook.
