I tend to go with the idea that Yuu doesn't "unlock" Skully in Ramshackle until Halloween because Skully put a scrap of his soul into the painting, but it would be funny if he was There The Whole Time.

Just the ?????? of some dead guy having maxed friendship affection stats while even your idiot cat son and new Heartslabyul friends(? You hope your friends, after the whole Mine thing) don't move that drastically in the photos yet. Picture Contest

Just thinking about Yuu and their Ghost Camera and the things that are implied about how it works. Thinking about Yuu making it a game of getting pictures of their friends and giving themselves scores based on how easy it is to get a candid picture of them. Cater finds out about this and decides to jump in for fun. They agree on the rules, and set a time limit of a week. Cater with his phone and Yuu with the Ghost Camera. The winner will get treated to lunch by the loser.

Based on Cater's experience, he puts out that Malleus Draconia as worth a lot of points, same with Idia Shroud considering how rare it is to see him in person. And Yuu, not knowing who he was talking about at this point in the year, agreed without really questioning who these people were. After all, big important mage like Malleus Draconia is so fast Cater can't snap a picture of him? The Ghost Camera is old fashioned and slow for all its a Magic item. No way it can match digital speed.

They get together to compare notes and decide a winner based on their rules. And Cater is choking on his own lungs, staring at the dozen pictures that Yuu has of Malleus. And in different outfits with poses that have to be deliberate. He's posing in his ceremonial robes, his gym uniform, his his dorm uniform. But written on the back of each is the dateof each picture, and the name 'Hornton'. One makes him pause to look at more closely. Malleus is posing with a gargoyle with a wide smile and a look in his eye that Cater recognizes. It's someone taking off their mask. Because the person they are looking at is someone they trust and like.

Cater accepts defeat gracefully and buys the prefect lunch. Without telling Yuu why they won the wager.

I went down a rabbit hole after watching a video on the beating heart ghost and I decided to look more into Madame Leota and

With the last line, that made me think that maybe, just maybe, we (MC) are an experience.

We come from another world, maybe Crowley test a machine (?) for making someone from another world coming in Twisted Wonderland.

And who know, maybe he still use it and try to find a way for the Mickey' world, and the only reason why we are still here is because we can talk with Mickey and have Grim undercontrol. Maybe he sand us back in our world or hurt us for breaking Grim and making him overblot, for after sending him in Mickey World (when he's overblotting).

I think I'm thinking about it too much-

ACvdgsvjcs okay, this is probably my wildest, crackiest theory yet, but while investing the prologue once again, when Crowley gives us the ghost camera, he makes a very odd yet very familiar sound??

Was....Was Crowley imitating Mickey at the end???

Here's a reference from Book 7 Mickey, when we finally meet him in the other side of the mirror (plus Grim scream jumpscare at the end haha)

Considering Crowley made that specific sound while giving us the ghost camera, that conveniently has a Mickey silhouette on it, it really feels like he's mimicking him?? Almost like he knows about him, or...he's really met him before.

This is based on the Phantom Blot theories, where Crowley is suspected to be THE Phantom Blot, who is Mickey's greatest enemy. Sorry to @the-hetchia-universe haha, I'm afraid my theories are very silly.

From what we know of Mickey and the mirror so far, the other side of the mirror is another world entirely. The room he's in has all the objects moving around, and Mickey doesn't know who is casting the spell inside that room. However, Mickey can only enter this room/mirror while he's sleeping. So, whoever is casting the spell in his room is basically invading his dreams, as if the person is trying to enter Mickey's world.

So let's say Crowley was the Phantom Blot. As Mickey's archnemesis and one of the most dangerous villains in Mickey's world, it makes sense that he'd try to invade his dreams and messing up the room. Additionally, when the Phantom Blot was first introduced in the comics, he was a thief that stole cameras and broke them (I'm assuming he was looking for a specific camera, but I'm not too confident about PB's lore)

Crowley gives us a camera, which is coincidentally the same way the Phantom Blot was introduced, is very odd. We still don't know what the Ghost Camera has to do in the greater scheme of things, and why it captures part of people's souls.

Anyway, in the prologue, Crowley is the one to suggest that the MC came from a different world or a different universe. Yet Mickey is still...Mickey. He isn't based off Mickey, he is THE Mickey. But in Twisted Wonderland, all the princesses and villains and Disney stories were things of the far past. This, and Mickey and the room reference a lot of things from Disney in the 1900's. So if Mickey is alive in his world, the Phantom Blot has to be as well.

I'm thinking that the Phantom Blot (as Crowley) is trying to retrieve all the magic and blot he can to return to the other world. Perhaps he was somehow banished for his numerous, numerous crimes. Ramshackle dorm's mirror is his way back in.

In Book 6, Idia suggests that someone may be causing the Overblots on purpose, and specifically mentions how there's no signs of "bad stuff" being sealed away in Sage's Island. But STYX doesn't know everything, no matter their intel, and no matter how willing a certain someone is to hide it.

Because when Riddle first overblotted, Crowley asked if anyone saw a black crystal (the overblot crystal) lying around. He knows about them, and the crystals must have a powerful property to them. Perhaps he was initially planning to use these crystals to gather the blot, but once he realized Grim was consuming them, he used it to his advantage.

Again, after the Book 6 fiasco, Crowley is specifically happy that GRIM came back unharmed. Grim is the one with all the blot slowly building up in him- Grim would be Crowley's ultimate weapon of blot. And with Crowley purposefully starting the Overblots, the more energy Grim would unknowingly consume. So perhaps there ISN'T any 'bad stuff' sealed on Sage's Island: The blot is hiding in plain sight through Grim.

With the blot and power, Crowley/Phantom Blot could fufill any desire he wanted...even go to another world.

yuu is EXTREMELY undocumented immigrant coded

For starters, they’re not just similar to undocumented immigrants. They’re best comparable to undocumented immigrant children. When their parents bring them across the border, there’s usually an unknown possibility of returning. They don’t have a say in whether they come along, that decision is made for them without their knowledge. All they know is “this is for their greater good”.

Now compare that to Yuu’s entry to twst. They literally don’t remember anything other than entering the world via horse-drawn hearse. They wake up in a coffin, symbolizing the death of their previous life and the start of a new one in TWST. They weren’t even aware of their transmigration until the deed was done. Upon transmigrating, they were told to make a choice and stick to it for everyone’s sake, not being given an out.

They’ve been transmigrated with literally nothing of use. They don’t have a valid ID nor currency. Their world is inaccessible. They are told “it is up to you to find a way back.” And the job they’re given to support themselves while they search for a way home? Custodian, one of the occupations most often associated with immigrant workers.

People are anchored to their new countries in different ways. That tends to be via each other. If someone marries a citizen, they have a pathway to obtaining citizenship, and someone has an anchor if they have a child during their stay. In Yuu’s situation, they’re anchored by Grim. Grim and Yuu both attend NRC as one student. They don’t have the means to attend individually, and Yuu has the risk of being cast out onto the streets if they don’t cooperate.

Speaking of cooperating, Yuu has more obligations than “attend NRC” and “find your way back” (supposed to be Crowley’s task but yk what he does). They are often tasked with things that are not their responsibility. Things like investigating/dismantling attempts at sport event sabotage, blackmail, overblots, that’s not supposed to be their priority. But if they don’t do that, they risk going without room and board, literal homelessness and no chance of finding a way back.

This is similar to another experience migrant children go through: having to support their families in order to remain afloat. Often times this includes translating documents with elementary levels of the language they're learning or working alongside their parents to bring food to the table. They have no other choice, these are things that must be done in order to survive.

Imma go into another tangent that is a bit of theory crafting but honestly really worth delving into:

There’s also the problem of whether they can even go back home. Asylum-seeking immigrants and those with similar situations don’t always have a place to go back to in their home country. Their countries are not safe anymore; they wouldn’t have left if they had the ability to form a safe and stable life in their homeland. However, children aren’t always aware of that. They are taken to the destination country without the possibility of return. How does Yuu know they’ll be able to go back to their world? They’re in the same situation: they made the journey, but their return is unknown. It could’ve been a one-way ticket to TWST, leaving them stranded and with a new objective: establish an actual identity or find a way to become a citizen from square one.

On a final note, this is another reason why I love their friendship with Ace and Deuce, especially after book four. Those two received ONE ping from their friend indicating they were in danger and dropped EVERYTHING to help them. They know better than everyone how hard Yuu has it and went out of their way to make sure they were safe and sound. They look after Yuu time after time just as Yuu gets them out of dicey situations.

Ghost Camera Musings

Assuming all the vignettes are from pictures the prefect took with the Ghost Camera, it means that they have a photo opportunity at some point to catch every character in their respective outfits or situations. But the vignettes don't necessarily have to involve Yuu, so they could get a glimpse of what went on while they weren't around.

Such as when Sebek spent an afternoon helping the Harveston Residents (Applepom Sebek). The laundry mix up between Leona and Malleus (Ceremonial Robe Malleus). Azul's Mystery Drink scheme. (Dorm Uniform Azul). But this applies to everyone that they take a picture of. Presumably, they take a lot of random ones too. So the opportunities to get information are basically endless. You never know what you are going to get from each picture. So it's a lottery of what it will develop into. But still, it's fun memories and fun facts for Yuu! And proof that some things actually happened, such as the entire Tropical Turbulence event.

So imagine what happens when this knowledge starts to be applied. Such the prefect casually diverts Ruggie from eating something he is allergic to. Or saves an extra serving of dessert for Idioa because they know its his favorite despite him never having mentioned it. Or knows the names of Kalim's siblings. All of them. All because they learned this from the Ghost Camera shorts and not because they were told this. It would drive some people insane trying to figure out how they found this information only for it to lead back to an old camera that no one else can make work.

Long story short: this is how Night Raven College concludes the prefect is clairvoyant.

like yuu cant ride a broom bc they dont have magic, so to get around to high places or whatever they would get something like the solar surfer from treasure planet as a gift or something from idia or ortho

and for protection, maybe they should get a sword like the sword of truth from sleeping beauty which was used to kill maleficent or excalibur from the sword and the stone and it was a gift from silver bc in his voice lines, he mentions how he thinks yuu has the potential to use one and trains them, i think that would be fun!!

Maybe rather than a monster hunter, you’re an influencer who fakes monster sightings. You record yourself sifting through abandoned places, searching every place, and without fail, something always seems to appear from the shadows, your poor self only narrowly escaping...

Most of your audience knows its, but there are always many who believe its real simply from the sheer horror! It looks so real!

With your camera in hand, you walk into the abandoned asylum, famed in history for its treatments. When patients go mad, they lock their necks with tight collars, old studies believing it would stop the illness from spreading to their heads... Heartslaybul "hospital".

Maybe it's a special live stream. While you're talking the chat begins to explode with worries, their fear seeping into you.

Your friend didn't tell you they were gonna set off the fake that early... You're ready to turn off your camera and search for them, only to be met with a glowing, transparent light. It's similar to the ghost fake you've used a few times before, but... since when was it red?

Realization finally hits you when you turn to the side; pale blue hair holds what looks like your friend's camera, curiously gazing at the contraption splattered with crimson liquid. He carries it above and lets the scarlet drip into his mouth.

You drop your stream onto the floor, not daring to look at the chat, nor your back before you sprint as far as you can. You don't even make it five feet before you're met with decaying limbs wrapping around you, orange hair invading your vision, and a heart-shaped wound on your captors face.

"You like monsters a lot, don't you?" his smile is cocky as his arms envelop your waist, "you wouldn't mind letting one take a bite, yeah?" He's about to take a chunk out of you with his canines before another rotting man appears, except with more stitches than wounds and a height that towers over everything. He's swift to hoist you over his shoulder, out of the gluttonous beast's range.

"You have to share, Ace. It's harder to find food than it was a while ago." You would jump out of his hold, but being eight feet in the air is horrifying.

Any shouts are caught in your throat, especially when another person comes into frame, except... He looks the most normal out of all them, albeit the slight wisp in his body... and the way his mouth is delayed like it doesn't belong there.

"They're kinda cute! Can't believe this frail thing is the one I've been watching!" his bright personality contrasts the dark background, as well as the stifling atmosphere. The corpse holding your friend's camera walks over. His face looks sorry, but the way he licks his lips clean of blood tells a different one.

Your lips tremble; you may not have seen it first hand, but you'd be a fool to believe they survived that. Survive...

You have to...! You really wish you had a gun right now, or maybe even a knife you don't know! Anything!

"Here's you friends... weapon, I think. They were kinda hitting me with it so."

...

"Please don't eat me!!! I've been eating junk for the last few weeks. I promise I probably taste like grease and sugar!" Maybe they're the brain-eating type... "Ah, I'm... stupid! Yeah, my brain doesn't taste good at all!" You continue your blabbering, begging them not to take a bite out of you as you flail. Your legs kick the giant you're on, and each hit has him awkwardly smiling, yet it doesn't stop him from holding you. he doesn't seem phased at all...

If you can somehow get out, the exit to the forest isn't far... In fact! Your apartment isn't far at all!

The red glow you saw first float in front of you, the stitched corners of his mouth twitching into a devious smile.

"No one's broken the rules of coming here in awhile. Even humans have gone as far to make rules themself about entering, yet you disobeyed them too." he leans closer, dark hollow eyes staring into yours. "You broke them; what is your reason?"

"I saw a picture of you online and thought you were really cute so I came to find you!"

That, is what seems to shock everyone into paralysis.

You quickly flip yourself over, your back hitting the floor before running towards your exit. You can hear them all running after you, yet when you turn, the one that catches your attention is the scarlet ghost. His eyes are distant, yet they seem fixated entirely on you.

...

Your breath is heavy as you fall down your door, processing what just happened. How... How do you explain your friends disappearance? If anything... You'll be the first suspect.

What do you, what do you do, what do you??

The stress has you passing out on your floor, your whole body trembling in fear at the reality that you have almost lost your life.

In your slumber, you fail to realize the five figures that stare at you through your window.

You shift in your covers, the alarm on your clock waking you up. Slowly, you lean up, your mattress creaking from the movement. A dream, a horrible dream... Your worries lift off your chest at the prospect. It was so realistic...

The sight of a bloody camera and cracked phone makes your initial relief disappear.

"Man, I didn't realize how comfy beds were now...!" the voice has you look to your left a rotten moving corpse under your sheets with you, the heart-wounded monster smiling at your shock. The shift of a different zombie has you looking to your right, pale blue emerging from under the blankets.

"He made me sleep here, i'm so sorry-"

"I did not; you came in here on your own Deuce-!"

You jump out of your bed, your body hitting the wall as photos fall to the floor. "How... How...? How the hell-?!" You reach for a fork you had lying around on your desk, an unfortunately familiar large hand gently grabbing your wrist and guiding the utensil away from the zombies.

"Sorry, silver works better on vampires." A spark of electricity leaves him when he exchanges this fact, the shock barely caressing your skin. You leap at the sensation, metal sounding off the floor. The corpse complied of different flesh, smiles at you as if you were simply jumpy, not absolutely horrified.

Those exist too?!

The curtains to your room are closed, minimal light seeping through. It might be cause for your current predicament. You swear, as they talk to you, a pair of green irises stare you down, and right when you're about to direct attention to the entity, shadows wave you goodbye.

It's as if you've given up your drive when they watch you sit on the floor, blankly staring at their rose tyrant.

"Can you at least kill me painlessly before you eat me...?" They all stare at the sudden willingness you have for their hunger... Their shock subsides when they notice the way you have a far-away camera recording them. It's no worry to them though; it's not live.

Riddle's apparitional form floats forward, the first one to break the stalemate. You shut your eyes tight, sticking your arm out for him like he was a vampire rather than a ghost.

as long as someone, anyone really, finds the footage...

You can go out famous for your mysterious death!

"Don't be foolish." Riddles cold wispy hand suddenly solidifies, his warm palm taking your hand. "the only way to truly stop a rule-breakers transgressions, is to make sure they can never do them again." They're gonna kill you. They're gonna-

"We're staying right here." Wait, is he saying...

A/n: I was actually gonna do all the dorms for this but realized i need to stop doing long posts for really small stuff 😔

It's not clear, but all of them actually know who you are solely from the phone Riddle got Cater when he went out as a human. he found you and then showed you all to them, collectively agreeing you'd be a good meal.

Riddle thought you were pretty on sight, but knows it's in his best interest to stay rule-abiding and just stick to consuming you. It must be destiny, the influencer they've all been secretly crushing on watching, said they thought he was pretty.

Cue the rest of Modern! Monster Twst about a fake monster investigator and the very real monsters who start living with them solely out of affection <3

All of them except for Ortho+Checka are meant to be interpreted as romantic, but many can be interpreted as platonic as well. The reader is gender-neutral, but more feminine adjectives will be used when referring to them. Characters will probably be a bit OOC.

If you want, I could even try lifting you and carrying you places. I need to get better strength training anyway, and then you’ll have a buddy to get stronger with. Those greedy thoughts shouldn't even make their way onto this paper, shouldn’t even be in my head, and yet here I am, penning them in a letter never to be sent. 

I truly wish you never see these letters, for I'd hate to be the reason your face turns to disgust, even if for a moment. Of course, I don't regret writing them. You will never read them, after all, but I believe I should get my thoughts out like this rather than bottle them up, lest I do something stupid and let you see them. I pray that you will never have to see me in a state like how I write to you, over my bedside table in the dead of night, eyes barely open and breath still recovering from dreams of a sweeter pleasure than I should sully your name with. 

I mention those dreams I have of you a lot, it seems, although I mean it in the most innocent way possible.
