this is the first time in eons i've had an otp that i could convincingly send to antarctica for fic purposes. the premise is that they're overwintering and something happens at pole and they need the hot pilot to steal a twin otter and do a daring winter flight* to drop supplies, loosely based on a true story!

"Oh, waiter," Chimney says. Buck looks over to see him shaking the box he's holding, peering into it with a look that borders more on bemusement than disgust. "There's, ah, some skua poop in my soup." "You're kidding." Buck drops his clipboard and strides across the hangar. He hasn't seen a skua indoors once this season. Chim isn't kidding. Nestled there on top of the soup packets is a cow-pie-sized pile of skua shit. "Well, they're not gonna want to eat these," he says, hands on his hips. "We don't have to tell them," Chim says. He reaches his hand in and pulls out a packet; it comes back stained and reeking. "On the other hand, they'd figure it out real quick." Buck sighs. "Nobody at Pole except Karen can take a joke, and they'd end up calling station management, and then we'd get written up, and then you can kiss your ten year deployment streak award goodbye." "You can," Chim says. "I'm protected by the powers that be." Buck stares after him as Chim wanders back off into the depths of the hangar. "You know those powers also protect me, right?" he asks to Chim's retreating back. "She was my sister first!"
