I wrote a new prologue for Twin Vice Paranormal Detectives. Does that count as an update? ^^; Well have some Fred & George shenanigans anyway.
------------------------------
"Well isn't this a riot. Blimey, if I wasn't dead already, I'd die of boredom."
"Mum made me swear not to put any firecrackers in your coffin," said George.
"Travesty." Fred shook his head, solemnly. "What about the dungbombs?"
"Of course. I'm not an animal."
"Excellent." He stiffened as he caught sight of the plump hourglass figure of a familiar witch heading their way. "Oi, heads up. Mrs Crannock, 12 o'clock."
"Oh bloody he- hi Mrs Crannock."
"Oh George!" the elderly witch sniffed wetly, enveloping him in a smothering hug before he could duck away. "Just seeing your face, your poor dear face- just like Fred- oh you soul, you sweet, sweet boy."
George patted her back awkwardly. "There, there Mrs Crannock."
Fred's silvery transparent face floated beside him looking gleeful. "Never knew she was so fond of me. Remember that time we used one of her bras as a parachute for her pet chihuahua?"
"Such sweet innocent boys!"
"I still have a scar on my bum where she hexed me," Fred added musingly, scratching his rear.
Biting his lip to keep from laughing, George hissed, "You promised you wouldn't do this."
"Oh come on. You can't blame a dead guy for giving up the chance to roast his own funeral."
"Oh my poor boy, you're trembling!" Mrs Crannock wailed.
"Err, yes. Just.. Hard keeping it together, you know?"
She laid a hand on his cheek and gave him a long, serious look. "Real men cry, George my boy. Real men cry."
"Yes, George," Fred placed an icy cold hand on twin's shoulder and squeezed. "Don't hold back. Let it out, let it aaall out."
When the old witch was out of earshot, George rounded on him.
"Stop enjoying this."
"Stop laughing through my funeral!"
"Stop making me laugh!"
A wicked glint lit Fred's eyes. "Keep it together, Forge old boy, you've still gotta get through the eulogy."
"You wouldn't dare-"
"And don't be afraid to make it a real weepy. If you get stuck, I'll be riiiight over there in the front row, cheering you on."
George gave him a stony smile. "Why there's Angelina. Doesn't she look positively ravishing. Who knows, maybe we'll bond over shared grief, get a little closer, see where the night takes--oh bloody hell!" he squawked as Fred's ghostly hand plunged out of his chest to flip him the finger.
"Unless you want me to haunt all of your dates from now on, you'll keep your wand in your trousers when it concerns my ex, Georgiekins."
Suddenly the room fell quiet. George felt his brother stiffen as the rest of the Weasley family plodded in, Ginny with her red rimmed eyes clutching onto Harry, whose haunted face was deathly pale, mirroring Ron's vacant gaze on his other side. Finally, their parents came in. Molly barely seemed able to put one foot in front of the other. The sight of her hit them like a gut punch, the fierce tiger of a woman they'd loved as much as they feared her sharp tongue, reduced to shambling wreck in their father's trembling arms.
Suddenly their jokes didn't feel so funny. Fred looked at his brother's stricken face beside him. The hand that held his notes was shaking. Fred reached out and gave it a quick icy squeeze. George looked at him, the horror in his eyes briefly visible.
Fred gave him a shaky smile. "On with the show, mate."
The muscles in George's face relaxed a little, returning the smile with a nod. Show was right. From now on, it seemed as if his life would be one grand performance. Not for the first time George wondered if the ghostly apparition of his twin was a fragment of his imagination, a manifestation of his inability to conceive of a world without his brother and best friend joined at the hip. He looked at the notes in his hand and took a deep breath.
He stepped to the podium overlooking the grieving faces of their loved ones, and began.
"Dearly beloved... Did I ever tell you about the time Fred transfigured Ron's Teddy bear into a spider?"
"Oi, that was you, you complete git!" Fred hissed.
A grin split George's face from ear to ear. He took another breath and continued. On with the show.

THE VANISHING POINT: WIP INTRO
genre. ya mystery + slight dark academia & maybe some magical realism/folklore but idk yet...
stage. plotting + first draft
pov. limited and multi third person
setting. blue island, population ~2k, a secluded island with dense woods in the center, a small town along the shoreline, and ocean all around.
themes. coming of age, family (esp. siblings), how many secrets we can hide until they come into the light, ruined friendships, how fear changes a person, memories captured in photography, betrayal and doubt, loss, silence is a secret is a vice, religion, etc.
aesthetic. you’re in the surf and a girl tilts her camera to capture your smile, wind streams between your fingers, smoke floats in rings from a half burned out cigarette, there is blood in the water and ghosts in the air and you’re all suspects for murders, but right now you’re free to be as wild as possible.
summary.
Five years ago, Eos Moon vanished into the woods on Blue Island and was never seen again. Her twin brother, Halo, was the last one to see her - and he has been chasing her ghost since he was twelve years old.
One month ago, three things happened: Eos Moon returned from the woods with no memory of the past five years, Ashley Saunders disappeared, and Vida Vaughan received her first death threat.
Now, on the first day of school, Ashley Saunders turns up dead and murdered, the only thing possibly resembling a clue the list of names he left on his desk: their names; and the fact that he was getting blackmailed while possibly blackmailing someone else.
Afraid that she might be next, Vida hires investigative duo Bea Novak and Hazel Allegro to find out who’s been sending her death threats, only to find herself dragged into a partnership with the rest of the suspects: Ashley’s former best friend, Halo, his amnesiac twin, Eos, Ashley’s ex girlfriend, Chrys, the boy who discovered his body, Asa, and quiet scholarship student, Jasper.
Under scrutiny from detectives, the eight of them are drawn into the mystery of Blue Island and the mystery of Ashley’s final months, and soon enough, the question isn’t just if one of them killed Ashley -
It’s if Blue Island is hiding secrets even darker than that and if one of them knows the answers.
excerpt.
Here was a thing about Ashley: nobody had liked him. Well, that wasn’t quite the right way to put it, but Ashley was someone a lot of people had strong feelings for. You either loved him or you hated him or you wanted to be him, and usually if you wanted to be him, that meant you either hated or loved him by default, or vice versa.
Halo never thought that he had wanted to be Ashley. He hadn’t hated him, at least not in the past—or even now, he supposed. He had been angry at Ashley, angry for a long time, then he had let it go. Let Ashley hate him. Let Ashley act like their fallout had been the tsunami of the century. Let people think whatever they wanted, because they were never going to be able to learn the full story on their own.
Had he loved Ashley? That wasn’t something Halo wanted to focus on. It wasn’t something he wanted to ponder, because beginning to dive into the feelings he had for Ashley, during the time they were friends and now, was like falling over a bridge and into the depths of the ocean. You didn’t know how far down it went, and you didn’t know if there was even a bottom to hit.
The doors to the auditorium closed behind them with a slam and then Halo was in the silence of the hallway, only the scuffing of shoes on linoleum breaking the thin silence. He looked at the ground and saw Ashley’s reflection in place of his own grinning up at him, a Chesire cat with his lips stretched to thin and his teeth a bit too sharp.
Halo seized to a halt, feeling his breath catch in his throat. He heard someone say his name—Bea? Eos?—but he had already turned and sprinted down the hallway and into the bathroom, pushing through the doors blindly and stumbling into a stall, where he threw up. His chest heaved, his breathing coming in shallow gasps of half consciousness, sweat sticking his bangs to his forehead, the salt from tears that had fallen without him noticing on his lips.
Oh god oh god oh god, Ashley. Halo felt the pain in his chest, a slamming weight hard enough to fracture bones, and wondered how he was still breathing when Ashley was gone.

Twin vice paranormal detectives
has anyone else ever had a fanfic that just... haunts them? like it's been months and maybe even years since you read it, but it just lingers with you and you can never truly leave behind the imprint it made on you? and maybe it's just a single line, one sentence that you can't shake off, that takes up residence in your mind and stays there, feeding into your psyche and subtly influencing your brainspace and maybe even your writing or other works?

another Cosmic update cause things continue to Happen and we finally get some more Tsukumo Juku
The investigation continues. Kirika and Hikimiya visit Dakushoin’s twin sister Nagisa and discover that the manuscript has a secret message in it, which can only be cracked by using one of Dakushoin’s book title as a key. The resulting message is “I am the one writing” -- they assume this means Dakushoin really did write the manuscript.
(As an aside, there’s a meta joke where Kirika hears the phrase ‘流水の中の清涼’ -- ‘the coolness inside flowing water’, a pun on the name Ryusui ( 流水) Seiryo( 清涼)-”in”( 中) -- and gets a weird feeling that she already heard it somewhere.)
--
Meanwhile, Ajiro discusses the manuscript with two important detectives we hadn’t met yet. One is Yaiba “Jin” Somahito, 35yo, whose reasoning is based on examining different polarizing ‘theses and antitheses’, which he calls ‘synthesis’, and the Japanese loan-word for it is where his nickname comes from (JINteizei). He’s the president of the first JDC group, with Juku being the vice-president. (Ajiro’s boss status lies outside the seven groups, as the representative and overseer).
The other detective is an old man called Shiranui Zenzou, who was Ajiro’s mentor. Shiranui once worked alongside Ajiro’s grandfather, Soujin. When Soujin was killed during the Saimon case, Shiranui was solving another case abroad, and still blames himself for not being able to save his friend. Shiranui became something of a paternal figure to Ajiro, who notes that it’s the only person (aside from Juku) that he feels he can drop his guard in front of. To quote, For Ajiro, who had lost his grandfather, wife and son in heinous crimes, Shiranui and Juku were like family members who truly understood and cared about him, and whose presence gave him warmth.
--
Speaking of Juku: we finally see what’s going on in London. First we learn about DOLL, an international detective organization that all the individual organizations (JDC included) are grouped under. DOLL ranks all the detectives on the scale from A (best) to K (worst), with a special category of S reserved for the very best. Currently there’s only 7 S-rank detectives in the world, and two of them are Ajiro Souji and Tsukumo Juku. At 20 years old, Juku’s the youngest person to get the S-rank.
It’s 9th January and the Jackie the Ripper case has been ongoing since Christmas. The murderer always cuts the victims’ bodies to pieces, which are then put in a pile with the head on top, the number of the victim written on the forehead. (That’s the similarity to the Locked Room Lord case, I assume.)
After an investigation meeting, Juku’s talking with a woman called Tousen Yomiko, who’s assisting him on the investigation trip to England. Aside from being a (not-JDC) private detective specializing in criminal psychology, Yomiko was also Juku’s childhood friend, and his ex fiancée. They later shortly discuss things with Lonely Queen, an American S-detective, but all that comes out of it is that they don’t know who the murderer is yet.
--
Meanwhile, JDC gets another delivery: extremely old copies of the Heian and Edo stories, which could mean they’re historical documents, and even that these ancient Locked Room Lord incidents might have really happened. Carbon-dating confirms that the copies are from their respective eras. But these ultra old documents are signed by Dakushoin Ryusui, the modern writer, so what the hell is going on here?
Faced with the possibility of a supernatural murderer, Ajiro is pretty damn depressed again, thinks a lot about his dead wife and son, and dreads not being able to solve the case. He calls Juku and tells him about the old stories. Juku’s actually pretty scared hearing about them, and asks if he can get them delivered to England. Ajiro agrees and they discuss sending Kirika and Nemu there too.
We get a little explanation about Juku’s reasoning method, Jintsuuriki (神通理気): when the necessary data is gathered, Juku gets ‘englightened’, as if he suddenly felt a reasoning ‘flowing down from God’ (hence the name Jintsuuriki, the kanji are kinda a mishmash of ‘god-passed-reason-feeling’, and if you write it down as 神通力 it means ‘supernatural/divine power’). Ajiro compares it to being able to see the entire image out of a bunch of puzzle pieces. Anyway, Juku’s reasoning currently tells him (’whispers to him’) as follows: the culprit in the Jackie the Ripper case is the very same as in the famous Jack the Ripper case from over 100 years ago, and the same culprit is responsible for the Locked Room Lord murders. (Which sounds weird, but hey, if allegedly hundreds of years old paranormal guys are running around...) They talk for a while more and Ajiro jokes that he’d like to see a case that Juku couldn’t solve.
Later Juku is walking to Scotland Yard to tell the police about their findings, and thinks about that last thing Ajiro told him. There is, in fact, a mystery he still can’t solve, and it’s the mystery of himself. He knows he developed Jintsuuriki when he was 6, around the time of the Saimon Family Murder Case, but has no idea how it happened, or what this power really is. In fact, he doesn’t really remember anything that happened before the Case. [Trauma will do that to you, buddy.] Is there any way to solve this mystery?
As if on command, an around 15-year-old boy stands in his way. It’s the grandson of the only survivor of another famous case that murdered an entire family: a young ‘wandering detective’ called Inugami Yasha. Apparently him and Juku hold a sort of detective rivalry since last year, but never really met. While Juku doesn’t know the details of Yasha’s reasoning method, he recognizes the boy’s genius that may even surpass his own and Ajiro’s. (Btw, the killer of Juku’s family was called the White Demon, Shiroyasha, so Juku’s a bit on edge hearing a similar name). Yasha claims that he can help Juku with solving ‘the case of himself’, and seems to know about the connection of the cases happening in England and Japan. He demands to be allowed to cooperate with Juku on the case, and Juku agrees, under one condition: Yasha won’t be trying to become just Juku’s assistant, but will become his full-fledged detective partner. (Which is a big deal, hearing it from an S-rank detective and all, and Yasha is pretty excited about it.)

All The New Genre TV Shows This Fall
Remember when summer TV was a dreaded wasteland of reruns you had no desire to watch, even with commercial reminders that "if you haven't seen it, it's new to you"? Fall's arrival signaled not just the start of the best season or another school year, but meant all your favorite shows would return and finally there'd be something to watch again.
The TV landscape has certainly changed since then, now that you can watch most anything on demand (or pirated in a cloud somewhere) and both streaming sites and cable channels produce some often great original shows all year long. Even so, I still look forward to fall TV with giddy anticipation — and with this being such an awesome age for genre TV and film, it's hard not to get excited at what new shows might play on post-Labor Day screens.
When it comes to this season's newbies, it's all about the paranormal and the Marvel juggernaut smashing it's way further into TV. You have an X-Men family thriller-drama starring True Blood's own Vampire Bill, along with two highly anticipated adaptations: Inhumans on ABC, and Runaways on Hulu.
On the paranormal end, you've got funny ghosts and serious ghosts, along with angels, demons, and more. There's also a new Star Trek series for the first time in a decade, and it stars the awesome Sonequa Martin-Green (formerly of The Walking Dead), but... it's only available on CBS All Access, which is like Netflix for CBS stuff.*
While I have to admit I'm not as excited about these new shows as I am for the return of Stranger Things, Mr. Robot or all out freaking war on The Walking Dead, I'll still check quite a few of them out. To help you decide, here are sneak peeks at most of this season's upcoming new genre shows (minus those that've already premiered), plus the return dates for all your old favorites...
Channel Zero: No End House | Premieres Sep 20 on SyFy
Inspired by Brian Russell’s Creepypasta tale, Channel Zero: No-End House tells the story of a young woman named Margot Sleator who visits the No-End House, a bizarre house of horrors that consists of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms. When she returns home, Margot realizes everything has changed. Starring Amy Forsyth, John Carroll Lynch, Aisha Dee, Jeff Ward.
Star Trek: Discovery | Premieres Sep 20 on CBS All Access
Star Trek, one of the most iconic and influential global television franchises, returns 50 years after it first premiered with Star Trek: Discovery. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. Starring Sonequa Martin, Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp.
Marvel's Inhumans | Premieres Sep 29 on ABC
The highly anticipated television series Marvel's Inhumans will bring the fan-favorite comic book series and a new kind of family drama to the small screen this fall on ABC. The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Marvel's Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. Starring Serinda Swan, Iwan Rheon, Anson Mount, Isabelle Cornish, Sonya Balmores.
Ghosted | Premieres Oct 1 on Fox
A former LAPD missing persons detective and fired Stanford astrophysics professor are recruited by a secret government agency called the Bureau Underground to examine unexplained paranormal activity in L.A. Starring Craig Robinson, Adam Scott, Ally Walker.
The Gifted | Premieres Oct 2 on Fox
Set in the X-Men universe, the drama unfolds in the mutant-phobic future and follows a family (led by True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) who is on the run after discovering that both of their teenage kids have mutant powers.
Kevin (Probably) Saves The World | Premieres Oct 3 on ABC
Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter, Parenthood), a cluelessly self-serving person, is on a dangerous path to despair. In a downward spiral, Kevin returns home to stay with his widowed twin sister (JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Once Upon a Time) and niece. On his first night there, an unlikely celestial being named Yvette (Kimberly Hébert Gregory, HBO's Vice Principals) appears to him and presents him with a mission – to save the world. Formerly titled The Gospel of Kevin.
Ghost Wars | Premieres Oct 5 on SyFy
Set in a remote Alaskan town that has been overrun by paranormal forces, the series focuses on local outcast Roman Mercer who must overcome the town’s prejudices and his own personal demons if he’s to harness his repressed psychic powers and save everyone from the mass haunting that’s threatening to destroy them all. Starring Vincent D’Onofrio, Kim Coates, Avan Jogia, Kristin Lehman, and Meatloaf.
Superstition | Premieres Oct 6 on SyFy
Superstition follows the Hastings, a family who's owned the only funeral home and graveyard in the town of La Rochelle for as long as anyone can recall. In addition to providing services for all faiths, the family specialty is handling “afterlife care” for the unexplained deaths of folks at the hands of demonic entities, and other unworldly phenomena that have long haunted the town. The Hastings uses arcane weaponry, incredible strength, mystical alchemy skills, and a deep knowledge of the occult and ancient lore from around the world to quell the evil within the shadows of the town. Starring Mario Van Peebles , W. Earl Brown , Demetria McKinney , Diamond Dallas Page , Robinne Lee , Brad James , Morgana Van Peebles , T.C. Carter , Tatiana Lia Zappardino.
Future Man | Premieres Nov 14 on Hulu
A janitor by day/world-ranked gamer by night is tasked with preventing the extinction of humanity after mysterious visitors from the future proclaim him the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion. Starring Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe, Glenne Headly 😢, Ed Begley Jr. and executive produced by Seth Rogen.
Marvel’s Runaways | Premieres Nov 21 on Hulu
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? Marvel’s Runaways is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.

*And now, a small rant coming in 3... 2... 1... WTF CBS? Why does every media company and their mom feel the need to start a subscription streaming service of their own? As I have yet to claw my way into the 1%, I'm not able or willing to shell out $6 a month for CBS content WITH COMMERCIALS STILL INCLUDED, and I'm sure as hell not going to pay $10 a month just to get it commercial free. Not even for my beloved Sasha. And I really wanted to support her new show.
But there are too many other things you can get for $10: a Netflix subscription, a movie theater ticket (well, almost), 2 venti frappuccinos, 3 In-N-Out cheeseburgers, or anywhere from 1-10 ebooks. CBS is not movie-filled Netflix, nor is it HBO. And with my cable subscription I also get AMC, FX, and USA — all of which have better shows! So, dear media company executives: please put your pipes down, or at least kindly stop filling them with hallucinogenic substances. These aren't books we're talking about here, nobody needs nor wants all of these limited streaming services! /rant
So, how do you feel about subscription streaming services? 😂
More importantly, what shows are you looking forward to this fall, SFF genre or not?

Not even close to over.
Hey you therapeutic canvas. I need to use you as when I am able to have the thought process in writing, it releases me of the many thoughts I can think throughout a long rainy weekend.
Can I be real with you and say that I was feeling insomnia on Friday and proceeded to look up “unsolved mysteries” then from one creepy story, it went out of control. I was particularly distraught over “elisa lam” and the mysterious elevator video. The elevator video took something out of me like I couldn’t look away but I was also very hurt for her because it was clear that something was terribly wrong.
I read many blogs on her but I did not scan over her blog as I could have easily been obsessed as she was very much human like us all. I tend to dive right into emotional things. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I couldn’t sleep. I wrestled with the idea of the paranormal and I eased the mystery of it all with understanding. I am a high sensitive person and I wish I could subside the emotion from detective work and the journey of knowing and debating but it ties up so many knots in my throat. I am paralyzed by this sometimes and know that I should seriously change my focus. My inner battle fights a good fight but this is not a fight that I want to give. My final thoughts are that I can not know everything and wish that horrifying things should not exist but that is not the reality we live in. I can talk on and on about it.
On another note, I found some tidbits about my ancient Chinese heritage of which i am 99.8% East Asian & Native American.
I am excited to hear this because I always wanted to know how far the line can be traced back. I have a twin, she has fifty percent of my DNA and vice versa.
Other updates include I am trying once again to drop the cancer stick. I really don’t like the odds of developing cancer and today I learned that the odds say heart disease, cancer and stroke play a role in my ancestry. I’d like to think that I can be conscientious now and stop the bullshit. I can use cigarette times for other things like thinking about why I shouldn’t smoke.
I like to think that I could really give my all to the cause you know? rearrange my whole comfort-ability. Just mess it up the natural order of things, and when I recollect.....I can put some of those things together. I like hybrids. I like new ideas clashing and I love the ability to adapt and change. I want to use it and I want to build beautiful things in sight of the non monetary riches in life.
It’s been a good talk. I will write back shortly. It always helps to address the closing line, good day and happy thoughts.

This is just another snippet from the next couple of chapters of Twin Vice Paranormal Detectives. I wrote this a while back, but figured I'd share it for maybeawerewolf, who's a big Drarry shipper. :D
---
Draco did not like being led around like a dog. A part of him still missed his days at Hogwarts when he had revelled in his leadership over a rabble of Slytherins. He had been like a general back then; a general lording it over a group of witless sycophants, ignorant and greedy enough to be impressed by his family status. To Crabbe and Goyle in particular he had been like a sage. They hung off his every word.

Crying over the perfection of this commission by Minuiko! Eeeeee, she's amazing. Anyway, this is Fred, George and Detective Nox from my fanfic, Twin Vice Paranormal Detectives. where Fred's dead, George is rather fantastic, and Nox is a straight-laced, no fuss Muggle contemplating her life choices. A murder mystery in seven parts.
