I didn’t think the Hiro-Zero-two romance was all that great, but that makes me wonder, which mecha series have the best and worst canon romances? I think that Renton and Eureka in Eureka 7 is one of the best, along with Garrod and Tifa in Gundam X and Van and Hitomi in Escaflowne. Other bad ones include Mikazuki and Atra in GIBO, Shinn and Stella in Seed Destiny and especially Ange and Tusk in Cross Ange. Any thoughts?

An Idea Dump...

I'm feeling a little story happy right about now...

Like, while I was in the shower, I got to thinking of doing a Love Live x Cross Ange fic titled "Cross L'ange", replacing Ange with Lanzhu and such. Not sure who Tusk would be in this scenario, but it would be interesting to put Lanzhu through a "trial by fire" kind of thing.

Then there was an Odin Sphere/Honkai Impact 3rd crossover that I thought about where our three heroines end up on Erion and meet some of the cast, primarily Gwendolyn and Velvet. I pictured Kiana telling Gwendolyn something along the lines of "Face it, your dad's a piece of crap, Gwen" and Gwen going, "Yes, I suppose he is".

I also thought a Love Live/Another Eden crossover that I was kinda thinking of with the Nijigasaki cast as the main team (though the other girls from Muse, Aqours and Liella would show up as supporting characters). Not sure who the main character would be in this case, but I would love to have Shioriko and possibly Lanzhu as the main cast.

There was a LL! fic I wanted to write a while back titled "To Tame A Typhoon", which focuses on Lanzhu's integration into the club after the events of chapter 30. Kind of showing off the best of both worlds when it comes to her character, y'know? Heck, I have to admit, I just want to write something with Lanzhu!

And finally, I really wanted to work on an Odin Sphere fic based on an idea that my friend Gloria (who is no longer on Tumblr, sadly) made ages ago. Forgot the name of the fic, but I remember that I dubbed it Magic Baker Mercedes, and it was supposed to be a modern fantasy with food serving as a backdrop. I'll ask her for the details when I get a chance to chat with her again on Discord...

Your thoughts?

While I'm not vehemently against Tusk x Ange, what I dislike is how weakly written that ship is - and Tusk isn't exactly a well developed character either at this point. It doesn't help that he's notorious for faceplanting in Ange's crotch. It's easy to forget that he saved her life twice (not to mention he actually killed some bad guys), but he still comes off as a loser who offers nothing more than "adorkability." 

To be fair,  Tusk hardly gets any screentime outside eps 5/14, though that makes me question making him a love interest even more. 

Compared to Hilda or Momoka, his backstory hasn't been thoroughly explored. Furthermore, he's had nearly zero character interaction with anybody other than Ange or Jill/Alektra (who's done little other than give him orders).  For someone introduced 9 episodes ago, they aren't doing a good job of getting us to like Tusk. 

I suppose the other issue is that fans were expecting more from a show in which the protagonists are predominantly lesbians, not to mention that Ange's seemed closer to other female characters than she did with Tusk. (Bait and switch lesbian imo) 

In my opinion, they could have improved episode 14 by instead using the second half to explore Tusk more, instead of that lame fanservice romance scene. Perhaps ep 15 will redeem things - I would like Sala to get more screentime.
