Optimize your main batteries
Tigellinus folded his hands behind his back.
“All right, summarize the situation for me,” he said. “We’re nearly there, now tell me who we’re fighting.”
“Information is sparse, Grand Admiral,” his intelligence wonk said, apologetically. “According to the data burst we got from our informant, the shipyards on Cheres IV have been abnormally active for the last six months.”
“...and this concerns us?” the Grand Admiral asked.
“It does, Sir,” the intelligence officer replied… whatever his name was. Hernas, perhaps?
“While Cheres IV is primarily known as a freighter yard, they were involved in warship construction during the Clone Wars, and none of their manufacturing systems have been replaced. They have the smelters able to handle high powered weapons and the volume to produce capital ships.”
“A capital ship yard that we didn’t monitor?” Tignellius asked. “Who is supposed to be in charge of this Oversector, anyway? This is a clear and direct failure by someone. Make a note.”
“Yes, Admiral,” an aide said, tapping away at a datapad.
“As for this yard, hmm…” Tignellius frowned. “Why wasn’t it being monitored?”
“Every shipyard in the Empire could produce capital ships,” the intelligence officer pointed out. “Cheres IV is somewhat higher capacity than others, but it’s shown no hint of involvement until now. What actually raised my concern is not so much the report of high activity but that it’s dissonant with the other, pre-existing reports which were being sent by the management. Somebody is lying to us.”
He flicked to a new page. “According to our best estimates, the maximum possible construction volume they could have completed roughly amounts to a single Star Destroyer of the Imperial class, plus escorting cruisers in proportion. Rebel assets that could have been deployed to defend the yards might amount to as many as two of their capital ships, their Star Destroyer equivalents. Again, escorts in proportion.”
Tigellinus frowned, then nodded.
“It’s fortunate we have ten Star Destroyers in the core of our fleet, isn’t it?” he asked. “Still, we’d best not be too hasty… order to the fleet, all ships are to deploy their full complement of fighters as soon as we drop out of hyperspace. They are to form a screen; if the enemy launches a fighter strike, send out a combined interception force anchored on the Carracks to blunt it. I won’t take losses against a clearly inferior foe. We’ll offer them one chance to surrender to preserve the docks, then I’ll destroy whatever is there with turbolasers. Stormtroopers will convince the Cheresi board of directors of their folly.”
The ops personnel copied that down, converting it into orders, and Tigellinus looked up at the main viewscreen.
Not long now. And he’d show the rebel scum what the might of the Empire could do.
Starlines formed, then condensed into stars, and Tigellinus looked at the tactical display.
The whole formation was neat and ordered around his flagship, Praetor, and he allowed himself a moment of satisfaction.
“Report,” he snapped. “Get me targets!”
“Scanning now, Admiral!” someone called back. “Dropping the images on the plot!”
Markers appeared, and Tigellinus frowned – then relaxed.
A dozen fighters were out on a clear combat patrol, and even as he watched they reacted to his presence. There’d be more launching soon, but he could only see four of the Rebel light carriers – not enough to be a serious threat, not against the hundreds of TIEs his own force was sending into space, obedient to his orders and shaking out into combat formation.
But, more importantly, there were only two enemy heavy capital ships – not three. Both were consistent with Mon Cal designs, the damp aliens, though there were more light ships than he’d have expected.
“Have the Rebels really been building light ships here?” he asked, out loud. “Or have they been sending off what they build as soon as it’s complete status on the Denier?”
“Interdiction cone coming online in sixty,” someone told him.
That, at least, was acceptable. He might lose the enemy cruisers, but the Mon Cal ships would be trapped before they could jump out and that was worth the entire trip.
“Admiral,” the intelligence officer said, appearing at his side. “I’ve been running the data streams, and there’s something wrong about the enemy combatants.”
“Then tell me what it is, Hernas,” Tigellinus said, shaking his head with a sigh. “Don’t play riddles with me. What are we facing?”
More fighters were appearing on the screen, and half his attention was on the body language of the two forces… would the Rebels try and launch a strike on Denier, hiding behind the body of his fleet? Run now with everything that could jump? Or try desperately to save the two Mon Cal Star Cruisers, opening themselves up to complete destruction?
“The cruisers don’t match anything that we recognize, but there’s at least a hundred of them,” Hernas said. “All built to the same design. And the Mon Cal cruisers have a different profile, it’s distorted along the dorsal and ventral lines.”
The big ships in question were neither turning to run nor turning to close the range, Tigellinus noted – or, at least, not by much. Instead they’d turned to fly left-to-right along his formation’s front. And the lighter cruisers were forming up into a clearly planned formation, with the Rebel fighters behind them on patrol.
What was going on?
“We’re in range of the cruisers, sir,” an ops officer said. “The Mon Cal ships are behind the enemy cruiser line, still.”
“Open fire on the cruisers,” Tigellinus replied. “Order the right wing to be ready to pursue those Star Cruisers – along with Denier. I want those prizes.”
“Yes, sir,” the ops officer replied, and the heavy turbolasers either side of his flagship’s main bridge turned, elevated – then fired. Nine other Star Destroyers fired in unison, spitting nearly a hundred and sixty coherent bolts of light out at the enemy cruiser line.
And about five hundred came back.
First Action, in the formation to the left of Praetor, staggered visibly as her shields took an intense hammer blow. Three of the enemy cruisers had taken multiple hits, one of them exploding as it was flattened in a single blow, but they were small targets and First Action was a massive target… one which had just taken so much concentrated energy that the shield systems were unable to fully contain it.
“What the kriff was that?” Tigellinus demanded.
“The cruisers!” Hernas warned. “Sir – they’re built around capital ship turrets!”
Turrets.
Turrets.
The produce of the damn shipyards hadn’t been sent away at all. It was right here. The heavy turbolaser turrets of an Imperial-class were a tiny fraction of the total volume, and the metal it took to build a single Star Destroyer could build hundreds of heavy turrets instead of the eight actually fitted to ships like his flagship.
First Action got hit by a second hammerblow of energy, crackling before a series of internal explosions began, and a moment later a priority alert came in from Interrex on the right wing of the formation.
The two Mon Cal Star Cruisers had been heavily refitted, Tigellinus realized in a sudden flash of insight. Their dorsal and ventral lines were nothing but turrets, with at least six times the heavy gun complement of a Star Destroyer – each – and that was if they hadn’t had heavy turrets added to the port and starboard sides, as well.
The Star Cruisers had his fleet outgunned. The enemy light cruisers, separately, had his fleet outgunned.
“Get us out of here!” he snapped. “Tell Denier to shut down her gravity well projectors!”
“They’ve only just come up, sir!” Hernas pointed out. “It’s going to take several minutes to-”
The entire ship rocked, as Rebel heavy turret fire marched down the formation, and Tignellius regretted his life choices.
Briefly.

author note!! To be very clear, in this story reader is a concubine against her will and is gifted to Thrawn, but there is at no point any noncon between Thrawn and reader. Reader is never noncon with anyone, either referenced or explicitly, and there is never any explicit noncon. However, this is a darker take on Thrawn and he doesn't really have many hangups about putting his gift to use...
Tumblr media
The chance comes much sooner than you think.
Two days later, you come awake, slowly, to flashes of green. Annoyed— it’s much too early-- you pull the covers over your head but then a howling alarm starts.
That does it. You sit up, suddenly and unwillingly wide awake. Out the viewport, the Chimaera’s turbolaser batteries unleash a bright salvo of green against a swarm of starfighters.
The chrono on the nightstand marks 04:12.
One of the fighters peels off, making a run straight for the Chimaera’s superstructure-- you freeze, transfixed-- it looks like it’s coming right at you, like it’s going to suicide into the bridge just a few levels above-- but a bolt catches it and it disintegrates in a fireball, leaving metal shards drifting in the void and fizzling blue-silver against the shields..
You take a shaky breath, and force yourself to move. You dress quickly, panicked, your eyes still bleary. Your only thought is to find Thrawn.
He’s in his office, shrugging on his tunic as he gives clipped orders into his comm link. “— yes, Commodore, and aim to disable and capture one, if possible. I’m on my way now.”
“What’s going on?” You ask. He’s already striding toward the hatch, pressing down the sealing strip of his tunic. “Are we— is the ship under attack?”
He picks up his service belt from where it’s draped over the back of the armchair, buckles it on. He glances out the viewport, in answer to your question. Obviously. “Remain here. I do not expect this to take long.”
More flashes of turbolaser fire, and more fighters breaking off to attempt to strafe the Chimaera’s weak points-- the shield generators, probably.
“But I--” He turns away, but you reach out and grab his arm. He looks at you, then at your hand, then back at you. You yank your hand away, gripping it to your chest. “Sorry. But I can’t--” The idea of being shut in here alone makes your stomach turn.
Suddenly there’s a blast-- you flinch-- and another one, heavier, powerful enough to make everything in the room shake and the lights flicker. “Please, I don’t want to stay here.”
He takes in your wide eyes, your trembling hands that you’re trying to hold steady. He nods, his expression and tone severe. “Come, then. And do not fall behind.”
His personal squad of death troopers fall in step once you reach the main passageway. You follow closely, as that’s the only way to assure you aren’t getting in anyone’s way. Crew members hurry past in both directions, though they all step aside for the Grand Admiral.
On the bridge, the crew are already working to repel the attack, calling out sensor readings and positions. Thrawn’s arrival seems to ease the tension, just a bit, to reassure everyone that the situation is well in hand.
You’re grateful he agreed to your request. His calm in the face of chaos is unfaltering, and you feel safe just watching him as he strides down the command walkway, posture impeccably straight.
“Report, Commodore.”
Faro’s bearing is unmatched, even as her eyes flick to you, who shouldn’t be here. “Twenty TIEs scrambled so far, sir. We mark--” she looks down to someone in the crew pits to confirm.
“Two hundred and forty-three.”
“--now two hundred and forty-three hostile ships of unknown origin.”
“And the fighter screen?”
“They were out of position when we were ambushed, sir. I apologize--”
Thrawn holds up his hand. “It is irrelevant now. Have them hold position. Do not launch any more fighters until my signal.”
As usual, you stay back, well out of the way, and once Ronan arrives on the bridge, he comes to stand near you.
“Your first taste of space combat, I take it?” He says lightly, as if trying to sound unbothered. But he keeps shifting on his feet and fiddling with the hem of his cape.
“Yes,” you lie. Because it’s easier not to have to explain.
“Well, there’s nothing to be concerned about.”
Just then, an out of control fighter spirals across the Chimaera’s starboard side, and just before it impacts, a pair of TIEs sweep in, blowing it to pieces.
You’re close enough to the airwing control station to hear their comms chatter-- “splash one!” “we got him” “coming around--” “another one on your tail”
You let out a nervous laugh. Slip the data stick out of its hidden pocket and clench it tightly in your fist. You’ll have no better opportunity than this.
“Contact!” Hammerly calls. “Unidentified cruiser just jumped in, sir, bearing five degrees mark delta.”
Thrawn goes over to look at the display, then motions for Senior Lieutenant Lomar. “Hail that cruiser. Open frequency.”
You have a second to marvel at how efficient and responsive his crew is-- Lomar had been anticipating his commander, and nods almost immediately to Thrawn that it’s ready.
“Attention, unknown cruiser. This is Grand Admiral Thrawn. By the authority of the Galactic Imperial Navy, I order you to stand down, and identify yourself.”
Static crackles over the connection. For a moment, everyone on the bridge holds their breath-- would there be an answer? Across the entire viewport, the battle still rages, though it’s already turning in Thrawn’s favor.
Then, -- a voice. Gruff, almost metallic through the communications link. “I’ve heard of you.”
With everyone’s attention on the mysterious captain, you sidle closer to Ronan, and as casually as possible, brush his hand. He makes no reaction, just smoothly and quickly slides the datastick from your palm into his, and then it disappears into his pocket.
“All the others who’ve come through here were easy prey.”
Thrawn is steady, emotionless. “You’ve attacked other Imperial ships?”
The voice laughs. Thrawn silently gestures to Commodore Faro, who seems to know what he wants. With the signal given, Lieutenant Agral begins to maneuver the Chimaera. Its bow angles down. Its hangar bay now faces away from the plane of battle and though its topside is now more exposed, the support ships serving as the fighter screen have had time to move into position.
“I say again,” Thrawn says, his tone still polite. “Transmit identification.”
“I’m afraid we won’t be doing that today, Grand Admiral.”
At that moment, the Chimaera’s remaining TIEs-- nearly the full complement-- stream around out of the ISD’s shadow, closing fast to range the cruiser. It looks like they’re going to catch it, that Thrawn’s plan is going to work, to intercept, capture, and identify the mysterious attackers. But just as they start to open fire, the cruiser jumps away.
Silence falls over the bridge. Everyone looks to the Grand Admiral.
Thrawn gives a slight bounce on the balls of his feet. Even from here, you can see, he’s displeased, though his single ISD and just two support ships had defended against over two hundred, and come away with minimal casualties and damage. But from what you gather, this outcome is far from his usual victories. Still, the crew seem relieved, and in good spirits. For some of the more junior members, this was their first combat experience. Emotions run high. Thrawn orders meritorious citations for the two TIE pilots who had blown up the enemy fighter before it could crash into the star destroyer.
This is what those bios had alluded to. Thrawn had pulled off an unlikely victory under pressure, and in the aftermath, he gives all credit to his crew. In some ways, he is a very difficult person to dislike. Though, Ronan doesn’t seem to have that problem. Now that the danger is over, he stomps over in a huff to demand answers about something or other, and to question Thrawn’s tactics.
For your part, you must wait. The data stick with your question safely passed to Ronan. There is little else you can do, except wait, and grow more dismayed each day he doesn’t slip it back to you, or indeed, acknowledge your existence at all.

Note
Hi! I need some advice on how to write battle plans. Like in war and such. I’m also having to come up with terrain for this chapter I’m writing. This is a Star Wars story with two Jedi if that matters. Do you think you can help me?
I'm a bit under the weather right now, so this response is going to be fairly brief. We'll be back to our normal schedule as soon as possible.
The Star Wars part matters a lot. Most science fiction settings have specific considerations that heavily affect how combat encounters play out, and what needs to be considered for planning.
In particular, combat in Star Wars can be roughly broken down into three parts. Space, ground, and characters. The ground and characters being separate groups is somewhat artificial, but it does reflect how the films (and most Star Wars media, for that matter) is written.
Space combat has a lot of considerations and, generally, has a rock, paper, scissors relationship going on. Star Wars tends to split starships into three groups: Capital ships, starfighters, and bombers. This is less consistently illustrated on screen, and tends to be something that exists more in the support material. Basically, capital ships (usually) have heavy flak defenses against incoming fighters. Fighters have a significant maneuverability advantage over bombers, and bombers are (usually) equipped with long range ordinance to deal crippling damage to enemy capital ships. (Beyond that, there are a lot of ships that perform better in their role, or partially step outside of their role.) The resulting structure is that capital ships operate as the heavy firepower supported by starfighters who have the specific job of screening off any incoming bombers. (In the original Trilogy, the TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, and TIE Advanced are the Empire's fighters, with the TIE Bombers as their only bomber variety. The Rebels use X-Wings, A-Wings as their starfighters, with the Y-Wings and B-Wings serving as their bombers. If you ever wondered why the sent in Y-Wings on the first trench run, here's your answer.)
Star Destroyers (Imperial-Class, and the Executor SSD), Mon Calamari Star Cruisers (these are noted for not having a standard design pattern, so a lot of the weird globby capital ships in Return of the Jedi are all MonCal Star Cruisers), Corellian Corvettes, and Nebulon-B Frigates cover most of the capital ships you see in the original films.
If you want to expand beyond that, then the original Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn is a pretty good place to start. Thrawn is a very well written strategist, especiallyin his original outing, and Zahn introduced a lot of strategically interesting mechanics to Star Wars that hadn't been set up in the original films. This included the concept of interdictors which could create an artificial gravity well to force ships out of Hyperspace.
Moving on to ground combat, Star Wars is a setting that's usually pretty good about paying attention to combined arms. Most starfighters and bombers (including all of the ones I mentioned above), are able to provide close air support, and capital ships can provide targeted orbital bombardment (in the case of some larger capital ships, they can obliterate entire cities, and fleets effectively wipe out entire planetary civilizations. Usually the reason not to do this is because the faction in question is unwilling to do so, or the planet has some direct strategic value.) This is on top of a lot of atmospheric only speeders and walkers that exist. Also technology like energy shields which can (in some cases) provide full protection against orbital bombardment, and a heavily fortified planet may have surface-to-space  ion cannons and/or turbolaser batteries, which could make life very interesting for an invading fleet attempting to clear the planet.
A lot of the time, ground combat in Star Wars will either focus on the vehicle combat directly or mix between vehicles and infantry combat. Actually drafting up battle plans in situations like this is going to depend primarily on strategic considerations for where they're fighting. If repulsorlifts don't work on the planet, then T-47 speeders aren't an option, and everyone's restricted to walkers and treadded vehicles. If it's an exceptionally dense urban environment that needs to be taken (mostly) intact, then you're probably looking at normal infantry for a long drawn out campaign, where they're unlikely to use anything heavier than a concussion rifle. If the goal is to simply turn a facility into a crater, you can do that with a few proton bombs fired from a flight of Y-Wings.
It really depends on what you need done.
After that, the films have very strong focus on duels between major characters. Characters (especially Jedi) tend to quickly carve through, or easily evade, any ground units sent after them. If you're a named character in Star Wars, the real danger is another named character, not some random troopers (even if they should pose more of a threat.)
It might be worth digging up a copy of Empire at War. It's an older Star Wars RTS, but a very well made one, which embraces some of the setting's strategic depth, and has enough interesting concepts to get you thinking.

X-Wing
One of the two games that made space flight sims a genre. Wing Commander game first. Descent was more of a 3D DOOM game.
X-Wing does an absolutely fantastic job of 3D space flight, and hammered out many of the unmentioned rules of the Star Wars universe. Such as hyperdrive navigation, and the the fact ships are pulled out of hyperspace by heavy gravity wells. Which you can create artificially. Which does come up in the plot.
Tumblr media
I think it was in the sequels, but it allows you to attack individual turbolaser batteries.
While the flight is non-neutonian, (if you turn off the engines, you come to a stop; maybe it's a safety feature that stops starfighters from drifting off into nothingness?). Flight is done incredibly well, with various ships having very different handling.
You can adjust the blaster and shield recharge of your ship, transfering power into them, or into the engines. Remember in the first movie, where they put their shields double front? You can do that. And double rear. And balanced. And if you have it balanced and cycle it, when you get back to balanced, it will distribute the shield energy evenly.
And this brings up the glorious TIE Fighter!
TIE Fighters were NEVER meant to be the equal of the X-Wing. The X-Wing was one of the most expensive fighters in the galaxy. They were so expensive that no one could afford to build them en masse. The Empire had... and empire to maintain. The TIE Fighter was designed to be as good as they could get, without spending a lot of money. They ended up with a fighter that looked simple, but packs a lot of punch into an extremely tiny package. Despite the engines and blaster cannons being a fraction of the size, they had the same power as the X-Wing. So, the tiny TIE Fighter had the same speed an maneuverability as the X-Wing, which was, at the time, the best fighter in the galaxy. X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and X-Wing: Alliance introduce a number of other fights, establishing that the X-Wing and TIE Fighters were far faster than the average. About 1/4 faster.
The TIE Fighter was instead designed to use great training to produce fantastic pilots. The problem is that training can only produce GOOD pilots. Fantastic pilots have innate talent that cannot be taught.
But, a skilled TIE Fighter pilot can keep up with an equal X-Wing pilot. TIE Fighters don't need missile launchers, as they always fight as part of a battlegroup, with TIE Bombers backing them up. They don't need hyperdrive, because they are always part of a battlegroup.
The Empire did had hyperdrive capable fighters, but they weren't as maneuverable as the X-Wing.
In fact, the TIE Fighter is so small and maneuverable, that you might have to turn off auto-convergence for your blasters. You can also switch through Fire Linking, which have single shot, pair, and if you have four, quad-linked.
You can summon back-up. If you have a hyperdrive-capable fighter, you can even make a single jump. As in Star Wars you have to spend a lot of time actually calculating your jumps.
The original has you play as the iconic and prestigious X-Wing, (among other Alliance fighters). The first sequel, TIE Fighter has you fight for the Empire. You get to see the empire as peace makers, and you spend most of your time on pirates, smugglers, crime syndicates, and rebel, (not Rebel), generals. They then produced X-Wing: Alliance, were you play the son of a merchant family who flies for the alliance, but you have times where you have to fly for your family, using another Corellian YT transport.
They then created X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, that tried to balanced the ships. The whole point is that life/war is not balanced. You don't always get what you want.
Since then, they have come out with Squadrons, that focuses more on how diverse your characters are, rather than, you know, space combat. YOU SPEND MOST OF THE GAME IN A FLIGHT SUIT, and you only see the main character's face in the occasional cutscene.

// As elaborated on in my previous post, Fordo does not command any truly large ships or a fleet suited for space combat, and that is unlikely to change. His expertise is on the ground, not on the bridge. But this is Star Wars and giant starships are cool as hell and I'm obsessed, so here's a few capital ships he'd be inclined to command if things were different.
Slightly smaller than the standard Imperial Star Destroyer, the Procursator-class Star Destroyer was a 1200 meter long design comparable in size to the Venator-Class. Its main battery consisted of three triple-barreled heavy turbolaser turrets mounted midship, providing it exceptional field of fire, but its total hangar space was very modest. Fordo favored the Procursator over the ISD as it was faster and more maneuverable, and thus made for an adept frontline skirmisher to the ISD's brawler.
The Fulgor-class Pursuit Frigate stands not far behind for very similar reasons. This 600 meter long heavy frigate's main battery was a pair of twin-barreled heavy turbolasers, as well as a pair of ball-mounted ion cannons on its flanks. As the name suggests, its primary role was to chase down lighter frigates, corvettes, and blockade runners utilizing the exceptional speed granted by its outsized engines. Fordo would be very fond of these, especially in the early years of the war before Mon Calamari Cruisers were prevalent.
The Gladiator-class Star Frigate was another 600 meter long design, intended as an escort carrier to accompany the Victory-Class. It was quickly repurposed back into a long-range patrol vessel, essentially serving as an extra-light Star Destroyer for system pacification duties. Its main armament was six twin-barreled light turbolaser turrets, a torpedo/concussion missile battery, and it had ample hangar space. Fordo would utilize these more in line with their original role, serving as frontline combat carriers escorting larger ships that lacked hangar space.
The Lancer-class Light Frigate, measuring at only 250 meters long, was a capital ship designed for an incredibly rare role in the Imperial Navy: dedicated starfighter screening. It utilized a plethora of quad point defense laser cannons to dice apart incoming starfighters through volume of fire. Though it could be retrofitted with a few light turbolasers, it was best suited for escorting larger ships rather than engaging them. Given the Rebel Alliance's effective usage of starfighters, Fordo wants his fleet to have as many point-defense weapons as he can get his hands on.
The Secutor-class Star Destroyer was a late Clone Wars era battlecarrier, first entering service shortly after the war. Measuring 2200 meters in length, it featured the same iconic twin-bridge conning tower as on the Venator-class, utilizing one for ship operations and the other for starfighter operations. For years, the Secutor-class would hold the title of the Empire's largest dedicated starfighter carrier. I'm not gonna list all the turbolasers and such, but there were a lot of them, many of which being the same DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets as on the Venator-class. A Secutor would serve as the command ship at the very core of Fordo's fleet as the anchor around which all the other ships pivot in an engagement. This is the largest ship he could feasibly receive command of, in my opinion.
Although the Bellator-class Star Dreadnought was perhaps the smallest of the Empire's Super Star Destroyers, the 7200 meter long behemoth of a ship was still one of the largest in the entire galaxy. Considered a "fast dreadnought", the sleek Bellator exchanged the sheer bulk and firepower of its bigger sisters for greater speed and maneuverability, and it still outgunned everything the Empire would ever face. If Fordo ever commanded a Super Star Destroyer, it would be one of these. There simply doesn't need to be any ships larger than this. Please stop building them. Palpatine please it's a waste of resources, the regular ISD is already too big.

ok i need to rename her from the silly name i came up with in middle school (execuclipse lol... executor + eclipse) so for now she's just abbreviated to "SDrN" -> lore down below
SDrN is a heavily-armed, ship-to-ship focused dreadnought meant to flexibly respond to large-scale engagements. Like the Eclipse- and Sovereign-classes, SDrN is equipped with gravity well generators and a battering ram, all plated with layers upon layers of heavy armor. Much of the ship's internal systems are automated, leaving her with a small crew to work with. Only the best Imperial pilots are assigned to her, as she also boasts an experimental targeting system jammer that disables all starfighter targeting systems in range, leaving those pesky rebels with just their own senses… which, most of the time, cannot compare with the Empire's rigorous training. However, this also means that the Imperial pilots must fly by training alone - no assistance from an onboard computer or the such. When used strategically, this can help protect SDrN from bombers while her point-defense laser cannons pick them off, but having incompetent Imperial pilots will doom them as well.
Even though SDrN is equipped with a variety of anti-starfighter countermeasures, it's still recommended to bring a supporting fleet for extra coverage. In addition to thousands of turbolasers, SDrN has an axial superlaser - again, taking notes from the designs of the Eclipse and Sovereign - and parts of her trench turbolaser batteries have been replaced with arrays of missile launchers. These missiles fly as two-stage rockets. The first stage is intended to cross the distance between the fleets and is active for most of the flight, while the second stage detaches the first and releases many smaller warheads to increase the amount of targets anti-missile systems have to deal with. These MIRV warheads can be equipped with proton, ion, armor-piercing, or armor-piercing high-explosive charges.
With the abundance of other systems present, the axial superlaser cannot fire while other energy-heavy systems are at work; in order to fire safely, all turbolasers must be shut down for the brief charging period, and engines work at a maximum of 50% power. The riskier alternative to keep weapons and engines powered requires diverting energy from shields, which can prove dangerous if the supporting fleet is breached.
There is, also, the cloaking device. Almost nothing else can work while it's active: no shields, no gravity well generators, and minimal weapons. Certainly no superlasers. The uses of cloaking such a large ship are few at best, such as tactical repositions and the such, but the primary use falls to enforcing the principles of the Tarkin Doctrine: silence dissent by fear. The presence of a fleet-killer warship alone is daunting, but too often, dissenters might simply assume that it isn't close enough to respond. Should SDrN's location be unknown, it stands as a reminder to uncooperative worlds: step out of line, and the galaxy won't even know what happened. Step out of line, and you won't even have time for goodbyes. Step out of line, and your death will be not a martyrdom but the quiet snuffing out of an unnoticed flame.
oh also!! hello, you made it this far??? congrats 🎉

This, has to be the most beautiful, FUCKING WARSHIP I have ever laid eyes on. Ansel Hsiao improved it by putting those beastly looking 12 turbolaser batteries and I am just left beyond astounded and feeling orgasmic at this point. Sorry.

This is Ansel Hsiao or FractalSponge as he's known on Artstation, and this is his interpretation of the Tector-class star destroyer in ROTJ. He even adjusted the height of the bridge tower. But those turbolaser batteries. 😱😍

“The planet is already within range of the Anakin Solo’s long-range turbolasers, is it not?”
Twizzl’s bushy brows dropped so low that they nearly covered his eyes. “Of course, but the Kashyyyk fleet is—”
“Unimportant.” Caedus faced Twizzl, presenting his back to Ben again. If the order he was about to give did not prompt his cousin to attack, then nothing would. “Have the long-range batteries open fire.”
Twizzl’s face went slack with confusion. “On the Owools?”
“On the planet.” As Caedus spoke, he was careful to keep his hand away from his lightsaber. He wanted to give his cousin every chance to attack; if Ben did not strike soon, he would have to be eliminated as unworthy. “Have them direct their fire to the same target area; the objective is to create a firestorm.”
Caedus’s command was greeted by utter silence, and he could feel the Force reverberating with the shock of the officers and crew who had overheard the command. Only Ben failed to seem surprised—though perhaps it was because he was still hiding his presence from the Force. Jacen continued to face Twizzl, giving the youth plenty of time to strike.
After a couple of moments, Twizzl finally seemed able to respond. “You want to burn the wroshyrs?”
“Precisely,” Caedus said. “The entire world-forest if we can.”
Twizzl’s expression changed from stunned to condemning. “But that’s…that’s just madness. It won’t accomplish anything!”
“That’s not your conclusion to reach, Commander,” Caedus replied. Giving the order wasn’t easy—in fact, it made him feel sick. As a child, he had both loved and respected Chewbacca, and the last thing he wanted to do was burn the homeworld of his friend and protector. But the Wookiees had brought this disaster on themselves by betraying the Galactic Alliance.

"Quite a sight, isn't it?" It loomed against the backdrop of the cosmos like a cold, unblinking eye, its sheer enormity a testament to human ambition. The surface was a labyrinthine expanse of durasteel and shadow, dotted with countless turbolaser batteries and hangar bays, each a minuscule detail contributing to the overwhelming whole. Beams of light from the surrounding stars were swallowed by the station's mass, creating a halo effect with a beauty that belied the construction's deadly purpose. Deena's breath caught despite herself.
Subdirector Eudora Vane's voice was smooth and warm. She immediately offered her hand, her manner direct but not unsympathetic. "Subdirector Eudora Vane." Slightly shorter than Deena, Vane possessed a friendly face and an air of gentle professionalism. Her rich, captivating voice carried the cadence of a tram, steady and reassuring. She looked like the kind of woman who could have been a schoolteacher, yet here she was, one of the greatest military architects in the galaxy.
Deena accepted the handshake, momentarily taken aback by Vane’s approachable demeanour. "Deena Tharen. Yes, it certainly is."
Vane nodded, her gaze briefly shifting to the colossal sphere outside before returning to Deena. "I trust you've been briefed on our current situation?"

Sphyrna-class Hammerhead corvettes were a common armed transport during the Galactic Civil War. Harkening back to the Hammerheads of the Old Republic, the Sphyrna-class was remarkably compact and durable. Their usefulness as a support craft with some creative appliactions made them invaluable to the burgeoning Rebellion.

Nebula-class Star Destroyer - Built by the Republic Engineering Corporation for the New Republic. The Nebula Star Destroyer (also known as the Defender-class Star Destroyer) was the largest and most powerful warship in the New Republic’s New Class Modernization Program. Despite being 1,040 meters long (65% of the length of an Imperial-class star destroyer), Nebulas were tough. Nebula Star Destroyers were armed with 40 heavy turbolaser batteries, 40 turbolaser cannons, 20 ion cannons, 8 tractor beam projectors, and 8 assault concussion missile tubes (each equipped with 30 missiles). These “pocket star destroyers” (nicknamed that for their small size) saw massive use in the Yuuzhan Vong War, and fought well against the extra-galactic warships. By the time of Darth Krayt’s Galactic Empire, at least one Nebula Star Destroyer (now called the Defender-class Star Destroyer) was still in service at the time.
Endurance-class Fleet Carrier - Built by the Republic Engineering Corporation for the New Republic. Like the Nebula, the Endurance-class Fleet Carrier was built as part of the New Republic Modernization Program. And Speaking of Nebula, the Endurance was built with the basic hull and systems of the Nebula. The Endurance Carriers served as parts of modern New Republic fleets. The Endurance can carry squadrons of K-Wings, E-Wings, A-Wings, X-Wings, and Defender Starfighters. However, weapons had to be sacrificed to make room for that many fighters. Endurance Carriers only had secondary armament of 12 turbolaser cannons, 20 laser cannons, 8 ion cannons, and 4 tractor beam projectors. With a high fighter capacity and low amount of heavy weapons, the Endurance Carriers had some sort of resemblance to the Venator-class Star Destroyers (that were used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars).
