This is so relatable.

I watched both The Society and Daybreak and was really hoping for second seasons.

Apparently I really like post apocalyptic shows and games.

Daybreak, The Society, Last Kids on Earth...

Also, why did they have to kill Eli?

It was pathetic.

Jaden Hoyles?

Really?

Just so they could have a radioactive giant Pug sit on his face?

Eli had to die?

Why?

What reason did the have to kill him off?

He and Josh were finally having a wholesome moment and it was such a wasted redemption arc.

Like they would have gone back to the mall post battle and Eli could've had no problem letting everybody stay.

He could've had friendships..

Real friendships.

With humans.

Not just mannequins.

He could have been everyone's favorite little shit who, although he acted like he hated everyone, secretly liked everyone who lived at the mall?

Also, why did Sam have to become the bad guy?

She could have just told Josh, "No, I don't have feelings for you" and walked away.

They could have gone on with their lives.

Burr was dead.

They could get to fixing the world.

Figuring out what was wrong with the biochemical in the bombs.

Bruh, so much wasted potential.

I'm almost glad the show was canceled.

It opens the floodgates for fan re-writes.

Where Eli didn't die.

Where Turbo and Wesley get to be happy together.

Where Josh finds some other girl and Sam finds someone or just is happy being single.

Where Angelica and Crumble have a mother-daughter-partner dynamic and focus on science and saving the world and fixing whatever is wrong with all the kids.

Maybe the jocks and cheermazons could become daybreakers and everyone could be one happy tribe.

We need a fan-made spin-off of these dynamics.

The show deserved so much more.

Netflix had to cancel End Of The F****** World, The Society, Daybreak and I Am Not Okay With This to make room for Kissing Booth 28 and Tall Girl 2: Even Taller

I’m currently binge-watching Daybreak and I don’t understand how Cody Kearsley, a 30-year-old actor, has managed to play a closeted gay high school football player in two main roles

Sometimes a family is a particularly intelligent zombie biology teacher, a black gay samurai, his jock boyfriend who can't verbally communicate, a 4th wall breaking skater boy, a pyromaniac genius little girl and an entire group of people who fit nowhere else in the apocalypse (distant family can also be a group of Amazon cheerleaders)

Daybreak is special because every single character is flawed in their own way, yet is so brilliantly written and is so beautiful, that you find yourself actually feeling for them.

1.) Josh Wheeler:

When he shows up, you think he’s going to be a hero, a perfect Ferris Bueller mixed with a Hercules of some type. He’s going to save the girl, and along the way, save countless others, right? Wrong. Well, partially. He’s made countless mistakes, turned his then girlfriend into a pixie dream girl that existed only for him, kind of tossed aside another amazing girl the minute he found out that his ex was still out there (after having slept with her), and threw out the people that cared most about him along with the kid whose mall he stole. Yeah, pretty bad, pretty flawed, but you know what’s beautiful about Josh Wheeler? He owns up to every last detail of it, he knows he’s messed up and tries to fix it. That’s really all we can ask for.

2.) Sam Dean

When you first meet her, she’s in a flashback of Josh’s, who, as I said previously, turned her into a pixie dream girl. From the time she was introduced, we saw her through the eyes of others, we never once saw through her eyes. You either think she’s perfect or think she’s the worst character to exist. Well, she’s neither. Sam is not perfect by any means. She’s made mistakes, plenty of them; she let Triumph loose based on a false sense, an old sense, of trust she had in him before the bombs, she may have had some questionable sexual partners (none of which should determine whether or not she is a good person, because seriously guys, who are any of us to judge at all). Sam Dean is not perfect at all, but do you know what’s beautiful about her? She knows she isn’t perfect and she never tries to be. All she has done is try to be kind to anyone she meets and stepped up to lead the jocks. She’s beautifully imperfect.

3.) Turbo Pokaski

Turbo, Turbo, Turbo, where to begin with Turbo? When we first meet him, he’s ruling over the jocks with Mona Lisa at his side, a dumpster full of bodies (mostly Ghoulies, I assume seeing as Mona asked for Ghoulie wranglers for American Ninja Idol) and a dangerous temper. He’s jealous, possessive, and typically doesn’t play well with others that aren’t jocks, even before the apocalypse. He’s a kid that always played second to the thousands of kids around the globe for the love of a father. However, the thing that makes Turbo so beautiful is his ability to love completely and all consuming. His anger and his rage all come from a place of love, the drive to protect his tribe, the knowledge that they all just need someone to love and care for them? That’s what makes Turbo so fucking beautiful.

4.) Angelica Green

Angelica, our lovely, foul mouthed, little pyro. Angelica is a certified genius, a liar, the queenpin of Glendale with an affinity for making things explode and catch fire. Yet, with all of the things that make her question herself, such as if she drives people away, all she wants is a family to love and accept her no matter what. What makes Angelica so beautiful is her passion to find herself a family, a group of people to care for her and for her to care for in return. Everything she did was to protect them, even if her methods were not the best and overall wrong. Angelica Green is beautiful because of her love and passion for her found family.

5.) Wesley Fists

Before the apocalypse, Wesley Fists was all over the place. He watched as Hoyles and Turbo beat Josh to a pulp outside the mall, stood idly by every time it happened in school, stole Eli’s prized possessions that he saved up for. After the apocalypse? Boy did everything he could to make up for all the mistakes he had made in the past, only to slip up again in the case of Turbo, the boy he loved. He lied, conspired to kill his best friend, yet in the end, he didn’t go through with it. That’s what makes Wesley so beautiful, he values his friendships, he tries to make amends for all the terrible shit he had done in the past.

6.) Ms. Crumble

Ms. Crumble is the perfect example of an imperfectly perfect human. Before the bombs, she made countless mistakes; sleeping with Burr, not being able to stand up for Josh when he was getting harassed (though she did try to help him the best that she could at the time). Yet, even through her Ghoulie transformation, she still cared so much about the kids in her found family. Ms. Crumble is so beautiful because she owns up to her lapse in judgement, her refusal to harm any of the kids that have come to trust her, and because she proves that even adults tend to make mistakes. After all, she is only human.

7.) Eli Cardashyan

Eli, Eli, Eli. My baby, the love of my life, my heart, even he is flawed. When Eli is introduced, he is seemingly selfish, self centered, a douchebag at best, and ignorant. Yet, when you dive deeper, you see that he isn’t as he appears, but he does own his flaws, he flaunts them. What makes Eli so fucking beautiful is that despite all of those flaws, he genuinely cares what happens to the people he “didn’t care about at all.” What makes Eli so beautiful is that he owns his flaws and never once tries to be anything he isn’t.

Not a single Daybreak character is perfect and that’s the beauty of it. These are kids, these are humans, these are people that make mistakes because that’s what it means to be human. Daybreak isn’t just about the apocalypse, it’s about what makes us humans, what makes us monsters, because we are all perfectly imperfect, we are all flawed. We are monsters.
