The West, the US and its lapdog ally the United Kingdom, lie and misled their people into supporting their wars. The lie about the weapons of mass destruction is testimony to the extent of their deception and propaganda to justify their aggression and the result were the murders of millions of innocent Iraqis. Without remorse of shame, new leaders who had taken over the rule of these belligerent nations now support Israel's genocide of Palestinians and inevitably, Israel's efforts to take over whatever is left of the Palestinian land. (...) I have been asked, surely the leaders of US and UK, leading nations of democracy and human rights, could not be that evil in their considerations. I cannot fathom their inner thoughts but I can assess what they do and I do believe that they are only concerned with democracy and human rights if and when it serves their interest.

FEATURED ARTICLE: The Question of Free Speech on Social Media in the Dewan Rakyat
by Cheong Chenxi of Kyodo News
Tumblr media
Pictured above: Malaysian MPs discuss free speech in the era of hate speech and misinformation
DEWAN RAKYAT: In today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting, YB Pagoh of the opposition stated that putting pressure on Social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook to remove offensive posts is necessary and that lack of compliance from said Social media platforms will result in a ban from being used in Malaysia.
A special chamber was subsequently held during which this topic was discussed further.
During the special chamber, YB Gombak mentioned that “Former and current members of parliament should be held accountable for speech that may disrupt the racial and religious harmony”. He presents the case of former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, who has stated his opinion that non-Malays do not belong in Malaysia, yet received no punishment for expressing said sentiments.
YB Bintulu has also brought up a case of the dangers of Social media, citing that during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, misinformation spread on Social media about the legitimacy of SINOVAC vaccines has influenced the decision of the Malaysian government to import Pfizer and other vaccines from the west, but not the SINOVAC vaccines from China, which he claims to be equally as safe.
Meanwhile, YB Marang of PAS states that harmful western agendas, such as that of LGBT, should be banned in Malaysia. However, the spreading of Islam in Malaysia should not be banned nor hailed as extremist.
This matter continues to be discussed after the special chamber and a bill has yet to be passed to address said issue.

Umno veteran now accuses Mahathir of jailing Najib for revenge
A veteran UMNO Secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub, after Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that some cases during PH 1.0 was due to revenge, has urged the Prime Minister to uphold justice (SIC) for Najib Razak. He now claims Najib was a victim of selective prosecution under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration after Barisan Nasional’s fall in 2018. Mahathir meticulously planned it and used all available…

Kita Flashback balik mengenai ucapan Tun Dr Mahathir pada Persidangan Antarabangsa 9 Mac 2015 bertajuk "The New World Order - A Recipe of War or Peace!" Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad memberi amaran bahawa 'Elit mahu mengurangkan populasi dunia kepada 1 Billion' dan akan melakukan apa sahaja diperlukan untuk mencapai matlamat mereka.
Tumblr media
Lu pikirlah sendiri?

Dr. Mahathir's Vision: Look East Policy Influence
Learn about Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's Look East Policy in Malaysia, which focused on learning from Japan and Singapore. Discover the impact of this innovative policy in this informative video! Imagine a time when Malaysia stood at a crossroads in 1982, grappling with the challenges of modernization and economic growth. Enter Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, a visionary leader who introduced the Look East Policy. His eyes were set firmly on Japan and South Korea, two nations that had transformed their economies from the ashes of war into powerhouses of industry and innovation. Why Japan, you ask? Well, Mahathir saw more than just technology; he saw a work ethic, a spirit of resilience, and management practices that could inspire a nation. The heart of the Look East Policy wasn’t just about mimicking another country; it was about cultivating a mindset. Mahathir wanted Malaysians to adopt a positive attitude, to embrace hard work and discipline, much like the Japanese did in their post-war recovery. This wasn’t just about economic growth; it was about building character and a collective identity that could withstand the tests of globalization. But there’s more! The policy wasn’t a one-way street. It was designed to attract Japanese investments into Malaysia, fostering trade relationships that would benefit both nations. Imagine young Malaysians, energized and equipped with knowledge, returning home to apply what they learned in Japan—bringing back not just skills but a whole new way of thinking about work and collaboration.

Doktor Maza memuji pendirian kerajaan. Social Media, Memes and….*sighs*, Malaysian Politics
Before I begin, I’d like to address that I am not particularly fond of Malaysian politics, but will try to explain this week’s topic through the mind of someone who regularly uses Social Media, just not for politics.
Tumblr media
Generally, social media has been a primary source for politics in terms of sharing information and announcing unexpected political happenings. In Malaysia, it is known that most politicians are on social media applications such as Twitter and Instagram. With the platform presented to them, they’re able to advocate for their standing party and have the freedom to say what they want to say. Comparing traditional media and the media we consume now, it is certain how much social media has a one up the game for politics. News gets spread faster, and not only politicians are involved, but generally the people of the country who voted. Even those who didn’t vote, get the participate.
All thanks to the freedom of social media, and yes, this is where memes come in.
Tumblr media
Let’s go back in time shall we? To the year 2020…
When everything Covid-19 related happened around the world and in Malaysia, Malaysia was also going through a political crisis where there was a sudden switch in the cabinet. There was an immediate meeting of leaders that was held on the 23rd February 2020, about 3 weeks before national lockdown. Crazy, right? Everything else was happening and these people decided to make even more controversies within the country. Then again, I was only 18, an avid user on Twitter whilst scrolling thru my feed of constant tweets about the changes happening. Leaders from several factions of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) were called to Sheraton Hotel, Petaling Jaya, which somehow, lead to Tun Mahathir Mohamad resigning as the Prime Minister, and then forming a whole new government under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Zainuddin 2020). This whole situation was then known as the “Sheraton Move”, where they planned to topple the PH government. To sum all that up, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin ended up being the Prime Minister, with the 3rd ever government we have in Malaysia (IISS 2020)…
…only to step down the following year on the 16th of August 2021 becoming the caretaker Prime Minister, with Ismail Sabri Yakoob replacing him as our Prime Minister, for now.
Okay, I’m going to stop here, it’s getting confusing, but you get the gist. Malaysian politics are a full on mess.
While I have to admit I only knew the full story today because of this week’s topic blog, memes have helped me somewhat understood the situation and honestly made the whole thing lighter and more engaging. Personally, I do think memes are this generation’s way of coping with almost anything, considering the fact that we’ve been told that we’re unserious and unaware. But, I don’t think that’s the case. With social media, the birth of memes were born. What better way to convey the slight snooze-fest of politics with none other than.. fun loving memes? Relating to last week’s post, our generation loves visuals, and memes just sums up all that. A whole situation or message being conveyed in 1 fulfilling meme. Quite entertaining if I do say so myself.
With that, I do believe that memes and politics somehow do go hand in hand together, especially in this decade. Jokes aside and all, considering memes are joke-filled, memes grab the attention of most social media users. People like me who aren’t really aware, get attracted to these memes posted only to be curious about the context behind it. For me, that works, and I’m sure it works for other people as well. One can put it in a way as if memes are a head start before a plane takes off, thus the plane being any types of news. In this case, political news.
Take this meme below, for example. I saw this about a year ago circulating on Twitter and was really confused at first on what was going on. From there I made the initiative to search up what all this was about, and it seemed like it was just Dr. Mahathir and his tricks, as usual.
Tumblr media
Okay enough of that, it’s in the past now.
As I’m typing this out, GE15 candidates have been announced so do vote if you can! For the betterment of Malaysia and many more political memes to come 🇲🇾

Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will step down tomorrow, news portal Malaysiakini reported today.
The resignation, if confirmed, could end months of political turmoil facing the Southeast Asian nation, which is already battling record high Covid-19 infections and an economic downturn from multiple lockdowns.
But it is not clear who would form the next government as no party has a clear majority in parliament.
It would be up to the constitutional monarch, King Al-Sultan Abdullah, to decide what happens next.
Here are the possible scenarios:
Interim government
The king can appoint an interim premier from among lawmakers, including Muhyiddin himself, until a permanent successor is found.
Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy and the king has the power to appoint as prime minister a lawmaker whom he believes can command a majority.
Elections
Muhyiddin can advise the king to dissolve parliament and call for early polls.
But elections are unlikely in the short term as Malaysia has seen a record number of Covid infections and deaths in recent days.
A general election is not due until 2023.
King picks new premier
When former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned just two years into his five-year term in 2020, the king – in an unprecedented move – met with all 222 lawmakers to see who had the majority to form the government.
He picked Muhyiddin who had the backing of political parties that were then in the opposition.
The king could do the same now.
Below are the top candidates for premiership or as interim prime minister:
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, deputy prime minister
One of the key ministers handling the Covid-19 crisis, Ismail Sabri was appointed as deputy premier in July in a bid by Muhyiddin to ease tensions with key ally, the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) party.
He could get support from the majority of Muhyiddin’s coalition, which has the backing of around 100 lawmakers. But it is unclear if he has the full support of Umno. He went against Umno’s call to withdraw support for Muhyiddin.
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, veteran lawmaker
Ku Li, as he is popularly known, has been a lawmaker for 47 years, held various ministerial positions in his political career and was the founding chairman of state oil firm Petronas.
The 84-year-old politician from Umno is seen as a compromise candidate between the various factions in the party. Umno support is key to the formation of any new government.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, opposition leader
The 74-year-old has repeatedly made a play for the top job, but has so far failed to show he can command a majority.
Anwar’s Pakatan Harapan coalition has 88 lawmakers, well short of the simple majority needed to form a government.
His old foe Mahathir and some other opposition lawmakers do not support his premiership bid.
National Operations Council
Former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has proposed the formation of a bipartisan council that would govern the country until a new government can be formed.
The 96-year-old has offered to lead the council.
A similar council governed Malaysia for two years from May 1969 after deadly racial riots. — Reuters

UMNO man says PH should apologise for politically-motivated prosecutions
Anwar Ibrahim’s recent statement about flawed prosecution during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration has sparked debate. While Anwar described many cases as politically motivated and driven by vengeance, UMNO’s Gulam Muszaffar questioned the silence of Pakatan Harapan (PH) members during that time. He pointed out how PH leaders, including DAP, PKR, and Amanah, were part of the government and…

Kabinet bakal dirombak
Tumblr media
