Also I know romance DOES get stigmatized because of misogyny and purity culture but .... men say misogynistic things to me no matter what genre I'm reading. When I read fantasy I should be reading sci fi. When I read sci fi it's the wrong kind of sci fi. When I read nonfiction they say "oh so you're ~really~ smart" in an extremely condescending voice. It's almost like misogynists hate women not just the romance genre
Yeah, I want to be clear that I’m vagueing a different argument I’m having in the comments of another Tumblr post, which I really shouldn’t be because I’m being very petty and immature and I know it. The other person’s argument is that the romance novel genre is particularly stigmatized along sexist lines, which I agree with, and therefore it’s sad and bad that 32% of people answered a library poll saying they don’t read Romance Novels, which I don’t agree with, and also that it’s bad and wrong for aros to joke about that, which I also don’t agree with.
Like, I do agree that the romance genre is stereotyped in sexiest ways, and societal sexism is wrapped up in how people view it. It’s true! However, it’s also massively popular, read by lots of people, and romance novel authors are very successful and romance novel influencers on TikTok are extremely successful. Whereas literally anything without romance is not anywhere near so successful, ever. It’s niche stuff at best, or else it’s painfully heterosexual male literature that takes pains to remind you that, even though there’s no romance in it, all the main characters are heterosexual and could get women if they wanted to.
Generally, I really think that people place “romance novel readers” as an oppressed class akin to a queer identity to a baffling degree. Because you’re right, men are sexist to women regardless of what books they read!
I’ve also just seen a lot of progressive sexism in the past for not reading romance, because as a woman and a queer person, romance is the only genre that gives us the happy ending we deserve! The romance genre is inherently progressive! Reading a romance novel can make anyone a better person, and everyone should! Why do you hate happiness? I’ve seen this plenty, I’ve been told this directly before, and that’s not what the person I’m arguing with is saying, but it’s very, very similar to the same arguments that those people used. Romance is The Women Genre, but like, in a cool progressive way.
You could make a similar argument that sci-fi is The Autistic Genre and is denigrated based on stereotypes about being liked by stereotypically autistic people. But sci-fi fans don’t act like people are being ableist for saying they don’t read sci-fi, because we know that most of the world doesn’t read sci-fi, it’s kind of niche as a genre. Which Romance is not. In fact, on Tumblr, in particular, where we are right now, romance is far away massively popular! I would bet money there are more romance novel enthusiasts on Tumblr than aromantics.
But at the end of the day, women face sexism regardless of if they read romance novels or not. So arguing with that it’s a sign of societal sexism that 32% of people answered a poll saying they don’t read romance is just irritating to me because it seems like the ideal in this argument is that people get over their sexist biases and learn to like Romance novels, or if you have the temerity to not like romance, to never say so.

PJO ≠ Greek Mythology
I can't believe I have to say this but I swear by the gods, the next time I see a pjo fan saying "the gods can be easily overthrow. This is canon on riondanverse and in greek mythology" or "yes. Mortals, specially demigods can win a fight against the olympians and easily defeat them. It happend on greek mythology. So it is plausible for Percy overthrow Zeus." I'm gonna riot.
You want a story where Percy takes down Olympus? Ok! There may be fics on ao3. You want a fic where Zeus is taken out of his crown and someone else takes his place? Fine. There may be fics on ao3 with this premise. I may hate this take, and I won't read it. But if you like, go ahead.
The riondanverse barely scratches the greek mythology correctly. The Gods are marely réplicas of the tales of Old. They dont match with their myths - since Riordan basically blanded one myth on the other, or created a few himself. - The PJO Gods are not a source for greek mythology, they dont properly represent their importance, much less their complexity, nuance and power.
So stop. Just stop spreading misinformation about Mythology - which u know nothing about if you are saying those things - or using it as a basis to your takes.
The Gods, the Olympian Counsil cannot be "easily" overthrow in any possible way. Using the idea "Zeus did that with Khronos so it is easy" is literally absurd. Zeus is a God. He has always been a God. He was born a God.
Only a God can fight another one and win. And a mortal - including demigods - can only harm a God with divine help - which usually is Athena's helping them. - No God can overthrow Zeus powerwise, let alone a mere mortal (Im looking at you, Epic fans). He is the King of Gods for a reason. That is a fact in greek mythology.
But if you want a good idea of "dethrone Zeus" trope acordding to Hesiod, there was a prophecy one of Zeus children would be the one to do it. When Zeus learned about it, he pushed a Khronos and devoured one his pregnant wives, Métis. Athena was still born from his head though.
Do you know what he did to Athena? Nothing. She is his favorite kid. He kept doing it? Also no. He never did that again. And all his god children were welcome in Olympus. Even Dionysus - who was born a mortal and ascended. Even Heracles, who became a minor god.
+ the "overthrown" of Zeus wouldnt happen. Zeus is - according to greek mythology - the fairest of the kings. I dont care if you don't like Zeus because for your modernized view on ancient tales "he is evil". He is a good king and that is a fact in Greek Mythology. You like it or not. He is not a tyrant. And he is not considered a Tyrant in mythology either. Another reason for one of his wives be Themis - Justice.
By the end of the day, getting out of Myth and going into their philosophy and theology.
The Gods are literally a representantion of the Cosmos and natural law. They are not "beings with too much power". Hades is the underworld. Poseidon is the nature. Zeus is the heavens. More than that, Zeus is the one who brought harmony to the universe - the oikos. Without him, everything we know about crumbles.
And Zeus children are the parts of human society. The pillars of "civilization". Apollo is art and healing. Hermes is communications and commerce. Athena is strategy and warfare. Hephaestus is technology. Ares is conflict/war and bloodthirsty. And there you go.
All the Gods represent the "good" and "bad" aspects of their domains. + They also reflect the human nature. That is why they are "flawed". That is why they are way more complex in the myths. Why they make good and bad decisions. Why they sometimes are kinder, why sometimes they are crueler.
Overthrow the Olympians mythwise? Would be the end of the life as we know of. The end of civilization. If there would be human life by the end of it.
Stop saying shit u don't know about only to support your takes on a greek-american fanfiction written by an American man.

(OP note: Since it’s a meme that Zoro gets lost often, I want to preface that “successfully/fails to escort Ellie to the hospital” is referring to whether the character is capable of surviving the trip through the post-apocalyptic wasteland while protecting Ellie. So if you vote “fails” because he would get lost, I’m assuming you believe he and Ellie would also end up dying as a result of getting lost. Sorry, this is TLOU, death is common around these parts)
(If it helps, my advice is to assume Zoro doesn’t stop until he finds the hospital by sheer luck. The question is would he and Ellie still be alive by then?)

vierapril day 24--fear
"it wasn't until alisaie fell in the ghimlyt dark--when they were carrying her body back to the forward camp, and further still to the rising stones--when the fear truly set in. when the loneliness rose up to fill the gaps where the scions used to be, and the crushing weight of it settled in.
