Mini Drabble about two of the characters

Tsumi was standing in front of the alter, their red eyes narrowed as they muttered a few prayers. Their partner, Angelus, let out a small huff behind them. He didn't understand, he would never understand.

Tsumi knew that, how could they not. When a being thinks of themself as a god, they'll never be able to recognize anyone else as such. Pitiful, really, but in the end all Tsumi could do is pray to the Lorekeeper that Angelus would see his wrong ways.

Maybe then he'll finally stop chasing after that corrupt spiderling.

"Tsumi." Angelus stepped up next to the avian, tossing a mildly irritated glance to one of the many portraits of the Lorekeeper and their family.

"Yes dearest?" Tsumi turned to look at Angelus, their expression neutral. Angelus let out a sigh.

"Are you finished yet? I'd like to get home." He crossed his arms, his black eyes narrowed.

"I am love, I suppose we can go now," They responded, getting up off their knees and standing besides the spirut. The spirut simple hummed and led Tsumi out of their cult's church, his tail flicking.

Tsumi didn't make any comments on how Angelus appeared irritated. They didn't need to. After all, why praise a 'false god' when they have Angelus, right?

Wrong. Angelus would see someday. And hopefully Tsumi will be the one to prove to him that the Lorekeeper is real.

I want to talk about the choreography of this scene.

When Henry pulls back in shock and turns to leave, he keeps his back to Hans.

Hans apologizes, visibly distressed, but Henry's not looking at him.

Henry, still not having looked at Hans, makes his way to the door. Then, as he's about to open the door (his hand has already reached for it), he finally takes a look at Hans. And it's just the briefest glance, but sees Hans looking distressed. And you can see him almost immediately make up his mind and locks the door to go and kiss Hans.

Just one look at Hans. It's all it takes for him to realize that he does want this, and he's not going to run away fro m it.

"Audentes fortuna iuvat." "I'm never going to run away from a fight again." This happens at a point where Henry has started to question whether he should always choose to fight (figuratively in this case) in the face of danger. In a way, this is him realizing that being brave is to fight for the ones you love. So this fight, scary as it is, he isn't going to run from. Because he sees the hurt on Hans, who he has sworn to protect, and he has to do something about it. So he kisses him back.

While I'm on the subject of Henry's protectiveness, I will make my second observation about this scene, which is the contrast between their hand placements when it's Hans who initiates the kiss vs when it's Henry.

Hans softly puts his hand on top Henry's shoulder, like he's saying "Don't go." And his shock afterward tells me that he didn't plan on kissing Henry. But he saw Henry possibly leaving for his death, and his body instinctively reached for him, before his mind even caught up. So that hesitant hand on his shoulder is just a beautiful detail.

Henry, on the other hand, has made his decision. His hand placement when he kisses Hans feels more deliberate, gently cradling Hans's neck, a comforting gesture. And that further showcases what I mentioned about Henry's protectiveness towards Hans here.

Where I'm going with this post, is how remarkable it is that they've managed to convey all of this in the scene. It doesn't feel like a gratuitous love scene, but like a carefully thought out resolution of their feelings, that have built up from the beginning of the game. An everyone involved in the making of this scene deserves all the praise for how beautifully it came out.
