Ryan Grenoble at HuffPost:
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a vehicle caught fire Wednesday morning at the entryway to the Trump International Hotel. Video shared by spectators on social media appeared to show a Tesla Cybertruck engulfed in flames just outside the hotel lobby. A spokesperson for the Clark County Fire Department told HuffPost the agency received a call at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday about a vehicle fire in the valet area outside the Trump Hotel at 2000 Fashion Show Drive but was unable to elaborate further. Police said the fire was extinguished less than two hours later and asked people to avoid the area. An unnamed official told ABC News the vehicle was carrying a load of “fireworks-style” mortar shells that seem to have exploded, killing the driver and causing minor injuries to seven bystanders. Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill acknowledged the unique circumstances of the incident at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
The Tesla Cybertruck catching fire outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is a very appropriate metaphor for this country’s current state.

The man police say committed suicide before detonating explosives outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas Wednesday was deemed not to be a threat to himself or the public after he sought mental health treatment, CNN reported Saturday night.
Investigators in Vegas say Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old active-duty Greene Beret, injured seven people in the blast which caused minimal damage to the building but injured seven bystanders. The rented Tesla Cybertruck Livelsberger was driving also sustained significant damage.

Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Trump Las Vegas hotel
A Tesla Cybertruck exploded near the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, killing the driver and injuring seven other people.
The incident comes just hours after a man drove a truck into a crowd celebrating New Year’s Day in New Orleans, killing 15 people.
The FBI Special Agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz later told reporters that it was still unclear whether the explosion was an act of terrorism.
I know everybody’s interested in that word, and trying to see if we can say, ‘Hey, this is a terrorist attack.’ That is our goal, and that’s what we’re trying to do.
Meanwhile, Tesla owner Elon Musk said the explosion was not related to the Cybertruck itself, citing telemetry. Telemetry involves automatically collecting data from remote sources and transmitting it to a central source for further analysis.
We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion.
The Cybertruck and the vehicle used in the New Orleans attack, were both rented through Turo car-sharing service. A Turo spokesperson said the company did not believe that any of the vehicle renters involved in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks had criminal records.
We are actively partnering with law enforcement authorities as they investigate both incidents.
The Cybertruck pulled up to Trump’s building at 8:40 a.m. local time (16:40 GMT). Las Vegas firefighters responded four minutes after the vehicle was reported on fire and extinguished it. The two victims were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

A deeply disturbing incident unfolded on New Year’s Day when a rented Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The explosion, which injured seven people, has now been linked to Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret veteran. While initially sparking suspicions of terrorism, recent investigations reveal a far more personal and tragic story. The FBI has suggested that Livelsberger, who died in the blast, was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dealing with personal demons. The case highlights the challenges faced by military veterans struggling with mental health issues and the stigma that often surrounds seeking help.

"If you were going to choose a metaphor for our current state of politics, a Tesla Cybertruck exploding and burning in front of a Trump Tower in a city where millions of Americans go each year to lose their money, is pretty spot on," wrote New York Health Campaign executive director Melanie D'Arrigo.

Both the Cybertruck that exploded outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas and the vehicle used in the New Orleans terror attack were rented through the car-sharing app Turo.
Elon Musk has suggested that the Cybertruck was possibly loaded with a bomb.
The Airbnb where the New Orleans terrorist was staying burned down just hours after he was killed by police. 🤔

The political class barely shrugged in August when Corey Lewandowski announced he was back at former President Donald Trump's side. But when Trashelle Odom learned that Lewandowski had joined Trump's 2024 presidential campaign as a senior adviser, it was a gut punch. That's because a little over three years ago, in 2021, Odom, then the wife of a wealthy Republican donor, had reported Lewandowski to the police for allegedly assaulting and stalking her at a Las Vegas charity event. Later, she said his lawyers offered her payment to keep quiet.
...During the 2016 campaign, CCTV footage showed [Lewandowski] grabbing a journalist's arm following a press conference. Images from the video showed she had bruises on her arm.
...In 2017, a woman told police that Lewandowski slapped her behind during a holiday party at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. She objected, according to the police report, but Lewandowski ignored her disapproval and did it again.
... For her part, Odom revealed in her CBS News interview that Lewandowski's lawyers had offered her more than $30,000 to keep the episode confidential. She rejected the offer.
(Note: One thing we are not gonna do is make fun of Odom's given name. I've heard it already. It's not cool, and we aren't gonna do that here, especially bc it would have been really easy for her to stay quiet. Do it and get blocked.)
I am shocked, just shocked, to find out that former President Sexual-Assault has a buddy he keeps rehiring who also likes to assault women.

A picture of Matthew Livelsberger’s military identification found in the burned Cybertruck he used is displayed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department during a press briefing Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. (Nevada Current)
The Green Beret who shot himself seconds before the Tesla Cybertruck he rented went up in a fiery explosion outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day referred to the event as “a wake up call” and effort to rid himself of the “burden” of the lives he took in combat. He also advocated a Jan. 6-like takeover of federal buildings and the ouster of Democrats from government and the military.
“Try peaceful means first, but be prepared to fight to get the Dems out of the fed government and military by any means necessary,” he wrote. “They all must go and a hard reset must occur for our country to avoid collapse.”
“Fellow Servicemembers, Veterans and all Americans, TIME TO WAKE UP! We are being led by weak and feckless leadership who only serve to enrich themselves,” Matthew Livelsberger wrote on one of two iPhones retrieved from the vehicle, in what police call two letters and a journal detailing his preparations in the 10 days leading up to his suicide.
