Factors to Consider When Choosing a Trucking Company
When it comes to choosing the best trucking company in Winnipeg, there are several factors to consider. These factors will help you evaluate the different options available and make an informed decision. Here are some key factors to keep in mind:
Experience and Track Record:It’s important to choose a trucking company that has a proven track record of success. Look for companies that have been in the industry for several years and have a good reputation for delivering goods on time and in good condition.
Services Offered: Consider the specific services offered by the trucking companies you are considering. Do they specialize in local transportation or long-distance hauling? Do they offer specialized services for specific industries, such as refrigerated transport for perishable goods? Make sure the company’s services align with your business needs.
Fleet Size and Equipment: The size and condition of a trucking company’s fleet can impact their ability to meet your transportation needs. A larger fleet may indicate better availability and flexibility. Additionally, consider the type and condition of their equipment to ensure it meets your requirements.
Pricing Structure and Rates: Cost is an important factor in choosing a trucking company. Compare the pricing structures and rates of different companies to find the best value for your money. However, be cautious of extremely low prices as they may indicate subpar service quality.
Licensing and Insurance: It’s crucial to ensure that the trucking company you choose is properly licensed and insured. Verify their licenses and certifications to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, check if they have adequate insurance coverage to protect your cargo in case of any accidents or damages.
Types of Trucking Services Offered in Winnipeg
In Winnipeg, there are various types of trucking services offered to cater to different transportation needs. Understanding these services will help you choose the right trucking company for your specific requirements. Here are some common types of trucking services available in Winnipeg:
Local Transportation: Local trucking services are ideal for businesses that need to transport goods within the city or nearby areas. These services are often used for same-day or next-day deliveries, providing quick and efficient transportation solutions.
Long-Distance Hauling: If you require transportation services for goods that need to be delivered across provinces or even to the United States, long-distance hauling is the right choice. These trucking companies specialize in transporting goods over long distances, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
Refrigerated Transport: For businesses dealing with perishable goods, such as food or pharmaceuticals, refrigerated transport is essential. These trucks are equipped with temperature-controlled units to maintain the freshness and integrity of the cargo throughout the journey.
Specialized Transport: Some trucking companies offer specialized transport services for oversized or heavy cargo. This includes transporting machinery, construction equipment, or other large items that require specialized handling and equipment. By understanding the different types of trucking services available, you can select a company that aligns with your specific transportation needs.
Researching and Shortlisting Potential Trucking Companies
Now that you know the factors to consider and the types of trucking services available, it’s time to start researching and shortlisting potential trucking companies in Winnipeg. This step is crucial in finding reliable and reputable companies that meet your requirements. Here’s how to go about it:
Online Research: Begin by conducting online research to identify trucking companies in Winnipeg. Look for companies with a strong online presence and well-designed websites. This can be an indicator of their professionalism and commitment to their business.
Industry Recommendations: Reach out to others in your industry who have used trucking services in Winnipeg. Ask for recommendations and feedback on their experiences with different companies. This firsthand information can be valuable in making your decision.
Check Online Directories: Utilize online directories or industry-specific websites to find a list of trucking companies in Winnipeg. These directories often provide details about the company’s services, contact information, and customer reviews.
Ask for Quotes: Contact the shortlisted companies and request quotes for your specific transportation needs. This will give you an idea of their pricing and help you compare the costs of different companies. By conducting thorough research and shortlisting potential trucking companies, you are one step closer to finding the best trucking company in Winnipeg for your business.
Evaluating the Reputation and Experience of Trucking Companies
When it comes to choosing a trucking company, reputation and experience play a crucial role. You want to work with a company that has a proven track record of delivering goods safely and on time. Here are some steps to evaluate the reputation and experience of trucking companies in Winnipeg:
Online Reviews and Testimonials: Read online reviews and testimonials from previous customers. Look for patterns in the feedback, paying attention to comments about service quality, reliability, and professionalism. Keep in mind that a few negative reviews are normal, but if there are consistent complaints, it may be a red flag.
Industry Associations and Certifications: Check if the trucking company is a member of industry associations or has relevant certifications. These affiliations indicate their commitment to meeting industry standards and best practices.
Ask for References: Don’t hesitate to ask the trucking companies for references from their previous clients. Contact these references to inquire about their experience working with the company. This direct feedback can provide valuable insights into the company’s reputation and customer satisfaction.
Track Record and Experience: Consider the company’s track record and experience in the industry. Look for companies with a long history of successful operations and a proven ability to handle various types of cargo. By evaluating the reputation and experience of trucking companies, you can narrow down your options to those that have a solid foundation in the industry.
Assessing the Fleet and Equipment of Trucking Companies
The fleet and equipment of a trucking company are crucial factors to consider when making your final decision. You want to ensure that the company has the necessary resources to handle your specific transportation needs. Here’s how to assess the fleet and equipment of trucking companies in Winnipeg:
Fleet Size and Availability: Consider the size of the company’s fleet and their availability to meet your transportation requirements. A larger fleet may indicate better availability and flexibility in accommodating your needs.
Condition of Vehicles: Assess the condition of the trucks and trailers used by the company. Well-maintained vehicles indicate that the company takes pride in their operations and prioritizes the safety of your cargo.
Specialized Equipment: If you have specific requirements, such as refrigerated transport or specialized handling for oversized cargo, ensure that the company has the necessary equipment to meet your needs.
Maintenance and Safety: Inquire about the company’s maintenance and safety protocols. Ask about their regular inspection schedules and safety measures to ensure that your cargo will be handled with the utmost care. By assessing the fleet and equipment of trucking companies, you can choose a company that has the resources and capabilities to transport your goods safely and efficiently.
Understanding the Pricing Structure and Rates of Trucking Services
Pricing is an important consideration when choosing a trucking company. While you want to find affordable rates, it’s also crucial to consider the value you will receive for your money. Here’s how to understand the pricing structure and rates of trucking services:
Transparent Pricing: Look for companies that provide transparent pricing information. They should clearly outline the cost factors involved, such as distance, weight, and any additional services required.
Compare Quotes: Request quotes from multiple trucking companies and compare them. Pay attention to the inclusions and exclusions in the quotes to ensure you are comparing similar services.
Value for Money: Consider the overall value you will receive for the quoted price. Evaluate the company’s reputation, experience, and service quality in relation to their rates. Remember that the cheapest option may not always provide the best value.
Additional Fees: Inquire about any additional fees that may be applicable, such as fuel surcharges, toll fees, or overnight stay charges. Understanding these potential costs will help you make an accurate cost comparison. By understanding the pricing structure and rates of trucking services, you can select a company that offers a fair balance between cost and quality.
Checking for Proper Licensing and Insurance
When it comes to choosing a trucking company, it’s crucial to ensure that they have the proper licensing and insurance. This ensures compliance with industry regulations and provides protection for your cargo. Here’s how to check for proper licensing and insurance:
Licensing Verification: Verify the trucking company’s licensing by checking with the appropriate regulatory bodies. They should be able to provide you with their license numbers and any relevant certifications.
Insurance Coverage: Inquire about the company’s insurance coverage and ask for proof of insurance. Ensure that they have adequate coverage to protect your cargo against damages, theft, or accidents during transportation.
Bonding and Liability: Check if the company has bonding or liability coverage that can provide additional protection in case of any unforeseen incidents or losses. By checking for proper licensing and insurance, you can have peace of mind knowing that your cargo is in safe hands.
Reading Customer Reviews and Testimonials
Customer reviews and testimonials provide valuable insights into the quality of service provided by a trucking company. Take the time to read through these reviews to gauge the experiences of previous customers. Here’s why reading customer reviews is important:
Service Quality: Customer reviews can give you an idea of the company’s service quality, including their reliability, professionalism, and communication. Look for positive reviews that highlight these aspects.
Consistency: Consistent positive reviews indicate that the company consistently delivers good service. Conversely, consistent negative reviews may indicate ongoing issues that should be a cause for concern.
Red Flags: Pay attention to any red flags mentioned in the reviews, such as complaints about damaged cargo, missed deliveries, or poor customer service. These can help you identify potential problems with a company.
Overall Satisfaction: Consider the overall satisfaction level of previous customers. If the majority of reviews are positive, it’s a good sign that the company is reliable and trustworthy. By reading customer reviews and testimonials, you can gain valuable insights into the experiences of others and make an informed decision.
Making the Final Decision and Booking the Best Trucking Company in Winnipeg
After considering all the factors, evaluating reputations, assessing fleets and equipment, and reading customer reviews, it’s time to make your final decision and book the best trucking company in Winnipeg. Here’s a summary of the steps to take:
Compare Shortlisted Companies: Review all the information you have gathered about the shortlisted companies, including their reputation, experience, fleet size, equipment, pricing, licensing, insurance, and customer reviews.
Consider Your Requirements: Ensure that the chosen company aligns with your specific transportation needs, whether it’s local, long-distance, refrigerated, or specialized transport.
Contact the Chosen Company: Reach out to the chosen trucking company and discuss your requirements in detail. Clarify any questions or concerns you may have before making the final booking.
Confirm the Booking: Once you are satisfied with the company’s responses and feel confident in their ability to meet your needs, confirm the booking and provide any necessary details or documentation. By following these steps, you can make an informed decision and book the best trucking company in Winnipeg for your transportation needs.

"TURNING OUT ONE COMPLETE TRAIN A DAY," Winnipeg Tribune. December 4, 1913. Page 13. ---- Shops at Angus Largest of Their Kind in the Dominion-C.P.R. Building Cars of Steel ---- The Canadian Pacific railway's shops at Angus, in the extreme northeast of Montreal, are the largest of their kind in the Dominion. Here pig iron is turned into monster locomotives with shiny fittings, and when roughhewn logs are not employed made into palace parlor cars. Angus shopmen boast that the plant is capable of turning out a complete train a day. When the entire force is working an army of 6.000 men are employed at the works.
From the boy who deftly catches bucket of red-hot bolts tossed to him from a forge twenty feet away, to the expert engaged in tuning and testing the bells and sirens which are to clangs and whistle in Saskatchewan or Austria, every person at Angus fits into his niche of the intricate organization and there is no confusion and no de-ay.
When the Pennsylvania railroad system completed its tunnel into New York, it made a regulation that no wooden cars were to make use of its lines. This led the railway companies of Canada to construct steel cars, for which the public had been agitating for some time, as they constituted less risk to the tray.... So that now wooden cars are gradually disappearing and will soon be 3 thing of the past.
The decision on the part of the Canadian Pacific to build its cars of steel instead of using wooden bodies, while not exactly a new step in Industrial activity, will probably be taken up on a larger scale than ever before on this continent. The capacity of the new steel shops which have just been completed is ten cars a day, and this department of the works is now running full blast.
Assembling a Steel Car. When the trucks are delivered from the trucks shop, steel girders, punched for bolts and rivets, are hoisted on cranes and held in position while a workman with a hydraulic drill drives the fasteners into place. The assembling of a steel car is much more speedy than the old method of building wooden coaches, using the trucks as foundation. A large amount of the old equipment which was used in the construction of the wooden cars 14 being reconverted and adapted for the making of the new carriers.
This department of the Angus shops is now in the course of transposition and will be much condensed, as wooden parts required will be much less numerous. The wooden box which forms the exterior of the freight car is fastened outside of the girders and can be replaced on the same car when it wears out.
Comfort and Luxury. Although the project of making all cars, passenger and freight alike, with steel frames, has been proposed, and is now under serious consideration by the C. P. R., no move has been made at Angus towards installing a steel plant for passenger coaches. The general plan of assembling a passenger car is that used in other train work, the component parts being added to the trucks, which are set in the erecting pits to be built upon.
The finished parlor car is in itself an achievement, for here not only safety and utility are to be considered but comfort and luxury for the passengers.
Coaling Up Real Test of Engine. Coaling up is the real test of an engine's worth. Parts may have been perfect and preliminary inspection may have found no defect in the whole, but engines are made to run, and if this one will not, back it goes through a long series of tests and examinations to discover where is its weak point. As with ships at their first launching, the constructing engineer who has planned the whole is never certain that his locomotive will run without mishap.
To the east of the Angus shop is a side track where the monster engines are first tried with coal in the bunkers and steam in the boiler.
A little group always gathers around the new engine. Fires have been laid, the smoke pours through the exhaust pipe and the fireman gives a preliminary tug at the bell rope Then the grisled engineer, who is the only one who does not appear excited. throws open a throttle, opens the siren into hideous shriek, and the leviathan chugs along the track, as if this were no new feat and it had been chugging along tracks for years.
The little group of foremen and inspectors give a weak hurrah, as they have done for hundreds of new locomotives since the first was turned out In a few minutes the big engine has steamed backwards into its place at the end of the erecting pits, and stands all ready to go on the "main line."

The Role of Technology in Modern Truck Maintenance
Tumblr media
In today’s fast-paced world, the trucking industry relies heavily on advanced technology to ensure trucks stay in optimal condition. With long distances, heavy loads, and varying weather conditions, trucks endure a lot of wear and tear. Modern technology now plays a pivotal role in streamlining maintenance, improving safety, and reducing downtime. For companies needing commercial truck repair in Winnipeg, embracing these advancements is key to maintaining a competitive edge.
1. Predictive Maintenance and Data Analytics
Predictive maintenance has revolutionized truck servicing. By analyzing data from sensors placed throughout the truck, mechanics can predict when parts are likely to wear out or fail. This allows companies to replace parts before they break, preventing costly breakdowns on the road. For instance, Winnipeg-based fleets benefit from this technology by planning maintenance during off-hours, ensuring minimal disruption to their schedules.
2. Telematics Systems for Monitoring Truck Health
Telematics systems combine GPS tracking with real-time data about the truck’s health. These systems monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and other key metrics. Fleet managers and commercial truck repair shops in Winnipeg can access this data to stay informed about each vehicle’s condition. Telematics technology allows repair teams to detect issues as they arise, minimizing the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
3. Automated Diagnostic Tools
Traditional diagnostic processes are time-consuming, but today’s automated diagnostic tools make it possible to quickly identify the root cause of a problem. Many Winnipeg truck repair facilities use computerized scanners to evaluate the truck’s systems, from brakes to electrical components. This precision not only speeds up repair times but also ensures trucks are safe and ready for the road.
4. Digital Maintenance Records and Scheduling
Gone are the days of relying on paper logs. Digital records keep detailed histories of every repair, replacement, and inspection, making it easier for mechanics to understand a vehicle’s past issues. These records allow commercial truck repair providers in Winnipeg to create personalized maintenance schedules, ensuring each truck gets timely service.
5. Mobile Apps and Online Booking Systems
In a busy industry, convenience matters. Mobile apps and online booking systems simplify the scheduling of maintenance and repairs. Trucking companies in Winnipeg can now book appointments for commercial truck repair with just a few clicks. This minimizes downtime, ensuring trucks return to service quickly.
Conclusion
Technology continues to reshape truck maintenance, bringing efficiency and safety to a whole new level. With predictive maintenance, telematics, automated diagnostics, digital records, and online scheduling, companies that rely on commercial truck repair in Winnipeg can enjoy fewer breakdowns and lower repair costs. As technology advances, the industry is set to become even more efficient, benefiting both truck operators and the communities they serve.

Insurance: Carefully review the insurance options offered by each company and compare them to your personal insurance coverage. Ensure you're adequately covered for peace of mind.
Cancellation policy: Understand the cancellation policy of each company, especially if your travel plans are subject to change.
Customer reviews: Check online reviews and testimonials to get a sense of other customers' experiences with different rental companies.
Hidden fees: Be wary of hidden fees like fuel charges, airport surcharges, or additional driver fees. Ask clarifying questions before booking.
Pro Tips for Savvy Renters: Maximize Your Budget

Book in advance: Early bookings often secure better rates and wider vehicle selection.

PETE'S MOVING FEATS
I spent Monday night the same way I’d spent almost every other Monday night during this miserable pandemic year - immobile, watching television, and drinking slowly - this time a bottle of forgettable red wine that I was sick of having around. Predictably I fell asleep, and woke up in the dead of night. The hockey game I'd been watching had long since ended, and on the screen was a strongman competition, the sort of television programming that sports networks use to fill time in the empty overnight hours. As I slowly shook out the cobwebs, a familiar moustached face reached out of the screen and shook me awake. He was an enormous man with a crew cut, wearing navy blue athletic gear and police style sunglasses, and he was giving an animated pep talk to an unpleasant looking young guy with the upper body of a kangaroo. His name was Peter, and he was someone who I'd not thought of since one particular day in 1998.
As I'd come to understand from the details I pieced together throughout my life, Peter played university football with my dad in the early 1980s. Peter and my dad both played defence, and despite their entering university at the same time Peter came to be somewhat of a mentor. Peter was roughly three years older and they entered university at the same time for the reasons you'd expect. Peter and my dad played their last football game in 1983, my dad graduated the following spring, and Peter continued to chase the dream of being an athlete. It was a curious dream to pursue, given that a professional football player in Canada in the early 80s made about as much as a guy working at a gas station.
Peter had an incongruous skill set for the game of football. As my dad recalled, his technique was minimal, he moved like a glacier, and was prone to taking horrendous penalties at the worst possible time. (My dad alluded to “the Saskatchewan Game” - a particularly violent incident that moved their team back nearly half the length of the field and foiled their chance to play for a championship.) But professional coaches were enthralled by his enormous size and aggressiveness, and he set some kind of weightlifting record at his university workout day. Peter was drafted the same day that my dad got his first job out of school and left football behind forever.
Peter spent parts of two seasons as a little used backup in Ottawa, his value to the team being less his ability than his Canadian passport. If you look for the video of the 1985 East Final online, you can see Peter frequently, standing at the ready, head and shoulders taller than the other players on the sidelines, not wearing a jacket despite the wind and freezing temperature. Peter left the team that winter (another "incident") and moved to a small town north of Winnipeg to start a moving company. It bore his name - Pete's Moving Feats - but I do not believe he was ever the owner. The company was vaguely football themed – their moving van bore an illustration of his face as well as his number. My dad suggested that Pete was hoping to capitalize on his football fame - however fleeting it may have been.
Pete would visit our family periodically, usually in the summertime. His visits fascinated me. He would show up carrying a bag of green and yellow beers and drink them one by one. He stood in such contrast to my dad, with his wild, flowing hair and enormous shearling and denim jacket, his booming voice carrying throughout the house. My mom would usually spend a short time on the patio with the two of them, before leaving much more irritated than when she joined. Peter would leave after a few hours (driving his truck home clearly intoxicated), and when I saw my dad again, he always seemed a little quieter, a little more placid, than the enormous cartoon human with whom he'd spent the last few hours.
These visits came less frequently as I got older. One Saturday morning when I was about ten, I woke up early to watch cartoons, and was shocked to see Peter sleeping on our living room couch (the look on his face suggested we were equally shocked). I went into the kitchen to make cereal, and by the time I'd finished my Lucky Charms, he'd sneaked out the garage. Peter moved across the numerous small towns of the prairies for work. I believe he spent some time in the oil sands, long before any of those guys made real money. My mother suggested that he had “gone away” for a short time, which I realize as an adult likely meant a short stint in prison. He eventually stopped visiting the house, and my dad tells me that he and Peter gradually lost touch.
I might have forgotten about him entirely were it not for one Saturday afternoon in September, when the Edmonton Eskimos hosted the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. My dad announced the night before that we'd be going to the game, and that his old friend Peter would be performing some kind of stunt at halftime. My younger sisters were indifferent to football, and I don't believe they had or currently have any recollection of Peter. But I was captivated, and I barely slept the night before in anticipation.
My dad and I woke up early Saturday, before anyone else. It may have been the last time in my life I woke up early on the weekend. We didn't discuss Peter and his stunt but instead focused our discussion on the football game. He'd gone out and purchased a copy of both local newspapers, perhaps hoping it would have something about Peter. He even dug his Manitoba Bison alumni jacket out of storage to wear for the game. My mother, anticipating the customary drive to our regular football parking spot behind the Serbian Centre, was deeply displeased to find out that we would be taking public transit to the game. It was the first, and probably only time, I'd ever seen my father drink beer on a city bus.
I was nearly shaking in anticipation by the time we got to our seats for the national anthem. I spent most of the first quarter furiously scanning the sidelines for Peter, trying to discern any clue as to what the stunt might be. Just after Edmonton scored their first touchdown, my dad pointed to a pair of gleaming red fire trucks behind the end zone, and casually suggested that Peter might be attempting to pull them. My mind exploded. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that Peter was going to do this. It all made sense. This loud enormous weirdo that had been in and out of our lives for many years was actually the most powerful man on planet Earth, and everyone in the stadium was going to find out. I looked at my dad and I could tell that the excitement was mutual. It also became clear to me that my dad was way drunker than I’d ever seen him at a football game.
At the customary stoppage with three minutes left in the first half, the public address announcer asked for the stadium's attention. Peter emerged from the tunnel, flanked by two cheerleaders, waving a large green & gold Eskimos flag. My dad and I leapt out of our seats and applauded, while my mother and sisters reluctantly followed. Peter Mishkiw of Edmonton, the announcer bellowed, was going to attempt to set a world record by pulling two fire trucks from one 30-yard line to the other. Peter looked even larger than I remembered. He sported the same mullet haircut he always had, though it seemed he'd recently spent some time in a salon. He wore a custom made green and yellow sweatsuit, with "Pete's World Record Feat" emblazoned across the front, along with the day's date. He settled in behind the players' bench, right in front of our section. He was basking in the attention but did not glance our way. He seemed to be attempting to mingle with the players, but despite his mammoth size, they ignored him entirely. As the clock ticked down he walked down the athletic track while he continued to psyche himself up. The crowd gradually began to turn their attention in his direction. A pair of team employees helped him put on a harness while the fire trucks drove around the track and into position. The announcer gave us the first half statistical highlights in a dull monotone.
Quickly, the show began. The stadium lights shot on. The speakers blared music while the Eskimo cheerleaders lined the pathway. The PA announcer gave Peter a dramatic introduction, erroneously stating that in 1984 he had won something called the Jurashen Trophy for the league’s best Canadian player. As his name was announced to the entire stadium, Peter broke from his locked-in state and gave the crowd a massive wrestling-style cheer. I looked at my dad, who surveyed the scene with pride. Even my mother turned to the woman in the seat next to her and said "I hope he does it." Until that moment it had not occurred to me that he could possibly fail. The fans in the stadium rose to their feet as the announcer counted Peter down. He was off.
I watched him crouch down and attempt to build the power necessary to get the things going. The trucks didn't move. My dad leaned over to me and told me that getting them moving was the hardest part. I continued to fixate on Peter. His face began to contort and grimace as his strategy seemed to shift. The crowd continued to cheer for him, and a distinct Peter chant emerged from the opposite stand. Still, no movement. This happens sometimes, my dad told me. Peter took a few long deep breaths before he commenced a lengthy burst of energy, his face turning red, occasionally jerking his shoulders back and forth in a desperate attempt to coax literally any minuscule amount of movement. He adjusted his stance to the point where he was close to parallel with the ground and made another burst. He stopped. The crowd continued to chant his name and cheer. But Peter was motionless. He wriggled slightly in his harness, perhaps desperately searching for any remaining store of energy for a final attempt. But he was done. It was apparent from several hundred feet away. Peter had failed. The crowd, catching on, gradually began to slow their applause, the mood turning funereal quickly. A confused staff member in a headset ran to Peter and began to remove his harness, struggling to lift it over his head. He turned and walked to the tunnel. "Why don't they let him move just one?" my mother exclaimed. I looked at my dad. He couldn't muster a response. He sat back down, finished his beer, and left to the washroom without saying anything. The fire trucks started their engines and returned to the other end of the stadium. A fan in the next section over shouted “great job whimp!”, and it got a big laugh. Peter left through the tunnel with his head down passing both teams’ placekickers as they headed to the field to warm up for the second half.
My dad returned a few minutes later with two fresh beers in his hand. He suggested Peter might join us in the stands a little bit later, but he never did. We continued to watch the game with disinterest, and Dad quietly grabbed two more beers from a vendor before alcohol service ended while my mother looked at him disdainfully. I don’t remember much of the game, beyond the streaker that invaded the field at the end of the third quarter, briefly frolicking shirtless and cheering along to the fight song before a police officer manhandled him off the field. We left our seats with five minutes left to go despite Edmonton driving the length of field down three. (As I read in the paper the next day, they missed a long field goal attempt that Hamilton nearly returned for a touchdown, and lost by nine.) We silently left the stadium and walked to the train station across the street. I didn’t even notice that my dad had taken his beer with him until he finished the can and dropped it on the tracks in front of the oncoming train that would take us home.

"YOUNG STRIKE SYMPATHIZER IS CONVICTED," Winnipeg Tribune. May 1, 1934. Page 3. ---- Asher Magid Fined $10 For Being Disorderly on Street ---- Convicted of being disorderly on the street, Asher Magid, alias Oscar Morgan, youthful strike sympathizer, was given the alternative of a $50 fine or ten days in jail by Magistrate R. B. Graham in city police court Wednesday. Two other cases against alleged strike sympathizers were dismissed.
In the Magid case constables testified that the accused was leading a crowd of over 200 strike sympathizers along Portage ave., near Donald st. on April 17, shouting "This store sells scab meat." The officers saw the paraders were making considerable noise as well as crowding pedestrian off the sidewalk. Patrol-Sergeant Harrod told of arresting Magid when he thought the trouble should be stopped. S. Greenberg claimed that the actions of the accused did not justify the charge but the magistrate ruled that shouting in the manner described did constitute disorderliness.
A case of common assault laid against Samuel Berber was dismissed by the magistrate on the grounds that the crown's evidence was not strong enough. Barber was accused of throwing a stone at a truck of the Western Packing Company on April 11. In letting the accused go, Magistrate Graham admonished him to keep away from the picket line at the strike.
Magistrate Graham dismissed a charge of being disorderly on the street laid against Peter Roberts. He was accused by police officers of obstructing the sidewalk on Princess and Pacific after an unemployed meeting. Evidence was heard in the case of John E. Tropak, chairman of the strike committee, charged with resisting an officer. As it was in the nature of a preliminary hearing, Magistrate Graham adjourned the case for formal commital.

These centres provide essential services to ensure trucks stay in optimal condition.
Here are some reasons why choosing a truck repair centre in Winnipeg is a wise decision for truck owners and operators:
1. Expertise in Truck Repairs
Trucks are complex machines with specialized components, making them different from regular vehicles. A truck repair centre in Winnipeg employs mechanics and technicians trained to handle the specific needs of heavy-duty trucks. Their knowledge of engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components ensures your vehicle is in good hands.
2. Comprehensive Services
From minor repairs to major overhauls, a good truck repair centre offers a wide range of services. Some common services include:
Oil changes and lubrication: Regular oil changes keep your truck’s engine running smoothly, while lubrication helps to maintain the performance of the moving parts.

Transmission services: Transmission issues can lead to costly repairs if not caught early. A truck repair centre in Winnipeg can provide transmission maintenance, repair, and replacement services.
Brake services: Keeping your brakes in top condition is crucial for safety, especially when driving a heavy vehicle like a truck.

2. Experience
The longer a repair centre has been in business, the more experienced they are likely to be. Look for a truck repair centre in Winnipeg with a solid track record and years of expertise in handling all types of trucks and trailers.
