Expert Guidance for Navigating Complex Legal Journeys
Suffering a brain injury can be life-altering, with consequences that extend far beyond physical trauma. From mounting medical expenses to lost wages and ongoing rehabilitation, victims often face overwhelming challenges. In Virginia, where accidents are not uncommon, having the right legal support can make all the difference. A Virginia brain injury lawyer specializes in these complex cases, helping victims navigate the legal system to secure compensation for their losses.
Brain injuries often stem from incidents such as falls, workplace accidents, or motor vehicle collisions. However, what truly complicates these cases is the hidden, long-term impact of such injuries. Symptoms may appear mild at first but can worsen over time, affecting memory, cognitive abilities, and emotional health. This underscores the need for experienced legal counsel who understands the nuances of brain injury claims.
Motor Vehicle Accidents: A Leading Cause of Brain Injuries
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the most common causes of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). The force of a collision can result in severe head trauma, leading to temporary or permanent disability. Victims may be left unable to work or perform daily activities, adding to their financial burden. For those seeking justice and compensation, connecting with Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers Near Me is crucial.
The legal landscape surrounding motor vehicle accidents is complex, involving insurance companies, liability disputes, and state-specific laws. A qualified lawyer will analyze the details of your accident, gather evidence, and build a compelling case to ensure that you receive fair compensation.
How a Virginia Brain Injury Lawyer Can Help
When dealing with brain injury cases, experience and expertise matter. A Virginia brain injury lawyer not only understands the intricacies of brain injuries but also has access to medical experts who can provide critical testimony. They work closely with doctors, neurologists, and therapists to document the full extent of the injury and its impact on the victim's life.
Moreover, they handle negotiations with insurance companies, which often try to minimize payouts. Many victims are unaware of the long-term costs associated with brain injuries, including ongoing therapy, medication, and assistive devices. An experienced lawyer ensures that all these factors are considered in the settlement process.
In some cases, if a fair settlement cannot be reached, litigation may be necessary. A skilled brain injury lawyer will not hesitate to take the case to court, advocating fiercely on behalf of their client.
Finding the Right Legal Help for Motor Vehicle Accidents
If you’ve been involved in a car crash, finding Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers Near Me should be a top priority. These legal professionals specialize in handling claims related to car, truck, and motorcycle accidents, helping victims recover damages for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.
The process begins with a thorough investigation of the accident. This includes reviewing police reports, speaking with witnesses, and analyzing any available video footage. The lawyer will also assess liability, determining who was at fault and to what extent. This is especially important in states like Virginia, where strict contributory negligence laws can bar victims from recovering compensation if they are found even slightly at fault.
Compensation and Damages: What You Can Expect
In both brain injury and motor vehicle accident cases, compensation typically falls into two categories: economic and non-economic damages. Economic damages cover tangible losses such as medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and lost wages. Non-economic damages, on the other hand, address intangible losses like pain, suffering, and diminished quality of life.
AVirginia brain injury lawyer will work diligently to quantify these damages, ensuring that nothing is overlooked. For example, they may account for future medical expenses, which can be substantial in brain injury cases. Similarly, Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers Near Me will seek compensation for both immediate and long-term losses, advocating for a fair and comprehensive settlement.
The Importance of Acting Quickly
Time is of the essence in personal injury cases. Evidence can be lost, witnesses may become unavailable, and there are strict deadlines for filing claims. In Virginia, the statute of limitations for personal injury cases is generally two years from the date of the injury. Missing this deadline can result in losing your right to seek compensation.
Therefore, consulting a Virginia brain injury lawyer or Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers Near Me as soon as possible is critical. Early legal intervention allows your lawyer to gather evidence, build a strong case, and negotiate effectively with insurance companies.

i have an idea for a request (it’s totally ok if you don’t want to do it) like an angst-> fluff where one of harry’s songs accidentally gets leaked bc of y/n like she has something on a flash drive and the song is on another and they get mixed up and obviously he’s really mad at y/n and they have a fight he’s super snappy with her but something happens to her like she gets into a really big accidental or something and he forgives her bc he cares about her more tha the leaked song
WC: 2.7k
***
Damage control wasn’t even an option.
Y/n sat there, staring at Harry’s laptop, numb to everything except the blaring desire to go back in time just two minutes. Two minutes is all she would need to undo possibly the biggest screwup of her life.
And the worst part is that this mistake ultimately doesn’t affect her. At least not in comparison to how it will affect Harry. And his band. And his team. Basically everyone involved with his career.
Her mind is equally begging for her to shut down and come up with a plan—an excuse—something, Is there anyway this wasn’t my fault?
She checks the time, her heart sinking to her stomach when she realizes Harry and his team will be back any minute. Any minute and she’s done for.
They’ve only been together for five months, officially. She’s still new to most everyone. She’s that girl Harry’s dating.
“I told you he played in that movie.” Jeff’s voice echoes outside the studio. Y/n closes the laptop and prays for strength.
“I have him confused with someone else.” Harry bustles through the door, a small crowd of people filing in behind him, back to the spots they left an hour ago. “Hey darling,” he greets, “finish your paper?”
Y/n’s frozen, morbidly wishing he had found out about his song leaking on his own so she wouldn’t have to tell him. “Uh, almost.”
He kisses the top of her head and hands her a cup of frozen yogurt. “Your favorite.”
“Thanks.” She sets it on the table she’s sat at while Harry pulls up a chair beside her. “Aren’t you guys still working?”
He waves in the direction of his band, “Mitch’s gotta fix his guitar.” He snickers, and slides his laptop out from under y/n’s hands. “Had a bit of an accident in the car.”
Y/n’s head tingles with what must be nerve damage, her place in this world, her place in this room, decreasing in value as Harry opens his computer.
“It’s gonna melt.” He nods to her yogurt.
“I’m not hungry.”
He furrows his brow. “You alright?”
“Mhm.” She looks around the room, everyone busy getting back to work, light chatter passing among them. “Uh, actually, I uh, I have to tell you something.” Y/n tries to swallow the lump in her throat with no luck.
“Okay…” He shuts the laptop and gives her his full attention.
“Okay, um—”
“What the fuck!?” The room freezes as everyone turns toward Jeff. “Harry someone’s got a hold of your song!”
Harry scrambles to his manager, complete shock on his face as they both stare down at Jeff’s phone. “Fuck.” They start to play a video, the sound of a girl screaming, with Harry’s unconsented voice playing in the background, fills the room. “How the hell did this happen?” He’s gritting through his teeth, neck red, veins bulging in his hands as he rips the phone out of Jeff’s hand. “HOW? Someone answer me!”
Y/N considers keeping quiet. Playing innocent. What good will it do to confess anyway? It’s not like it’ll undo what she’s done.
Sarah chimes in from across the room, “It looks like it happened half an hour ago. That’s when this video I’m looking at was posted.”
Y/n’s staring down at her lap, holding her head up with her fingers pressed into her temples when Harry slings himself back into the chair next to her.
“All that work, all that fucking work,” he nearly growls, “for some cunt to spread my unfinished song around for a buck.”
Y/n peers up to the room, a completely different picture compared to five minutes ago. Now there’s talk of lawyers and pressing charges while everyone shuffles around. Jeff slams the door as he steps out with his phone to his ear, and y/n knows she can’t claim denial, it’ll only make things worse.
“Uh, Harry?”
“What is it?” He doesn’t look at her, eyes glaring at his phone while another video plays of a group of people reacting to his song. “Glad they fucking like it.”
“Harry?”
“What, y/n?”
She shrinks under his gaze, mouth dry as she forces her confession out. “I uh, this is all my fault.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m so, so sorry. And I’ll do anything—I know I can’t fix it—but...”
Harry’s tongue presses against the inside of his cheek, his eyes narrowing in on her as a morbid silence forms a little bubble around them. “Go on,” he whispers with grit, “finish what you were gonna say.”
She stutters, desperately trying to figure him out. “I’m just sorry. It was an accident.”
“An accident? How did you even manage to do this?”
“I—”
“Do you have any idea what this accident means, y/n?”
She reluctantly shakes her head no.
“How the fuck did you do this?”
“I—I don’t know...I was taking a break from my paper, and, I don’t know Harry.” She’s in tears now, warm and salty as they spill down her cheeks. Her mouth wobbles around another apology, but no sounds make it out.
“Fix it.”
“What?”
He stands up, yanking his laptop off the table, pausing to glare at her one last time. “I said, to fix it.” With that he storms across the room, slinging the door open just as Jeff reenters.
“Harry, your attorney—”
“Forget it.” He turns around and points his phone towards y/n silently sobbing in the corner. “She’s gonna handle it.” He takes one step out into the hall and stops, spinning on his heels to face the studio. “Don’t speak to me until you do.”
Mitch’s guitar that was fixed and propped against the wall, crashes to the floor when Harry slams the door.
Chatter passes around the room one more time, only now everyone seems to be in agreeance—that girl never should have been allowed in the studio, and maybe, Harry should break up with her.
***
Early morning rain fell outside Harry’s apartment. It was still dark, street lamps burning through the fog in the city below. His home fills with coffee as he pours his fifth cup; the prior four never offering more than a few sips before he had abandoned them somewhere, the counter, mantle, bookshelf, because he can’t talk without his hands.
Y/n sits on his couch. It’s velvet and pink and too big for one person. She hated it the first time he invited her over. If he breaks up with her, she’s going to tell him how ugly it is.
“I don’t know what you expect me to do.” She’s exhausted. She hadn’t hesitated to drive over when he finally responded to one of her hundreds of texts in the week since the mishap. But now she regrets it. They’ve been going in circles with the same argument for the past four hours. She’s convinced he invited her over just to be mean. She sighs, rubbing her temples. “I said I was sorry. You know that I’m sorry. And you know that I never, ever in a million years, would have done something like this on purpose.”
“I’m allowed to be angry with you. I have every right to be.”
“Do you, though?” She straightens up on his ugly couch and looks at him leaning against the doorframe that leads into the kitchen. “Aren’t you a little tired of hating me? God Harry, everyone else in the whole world has moved on except you.”
“It’s not everyone else’s song, is it? It’s not everyone else’s months and months of hard work. It’s not everyone else’s unfinished art? Nobody else is having to deal with a girlfriend that is so careless, so thoughtless, that she actually managed to leak my song!”
“Stop raising your voice at me!”
“You had no business snooping around my computer anyway! I told you you could work on your fucking paper, not to go prying around my personal shit!”
“You know what,” she scoffs, shooting up off the couch, “this argument is so pointless. You didn’t want me here so we could talk. You just wanted to torture me because you’re mad that people don’t love your stupid song.”
“What the fuck did you say?”
She brushes his shoulder as she passes by him, and a drip of his coffee spills onto his hand. He curses, and follows her into the kitchen where he lays his final cup down on the island.
“You’re being a baby because people aren’t fawning over you like they usually do.” She shrugs and slings her bag over her shoulder. “It’s not your best song, Harry.”
The veins in his neck strain against his flaming skin. His cheeks are sucked in, and if he bites down on the skin any harder he’ll puncture his face. “Get the fuck out.”
“I was already leaving, dumb ass.” She strides by him once more, practically feeling the heat steaming off his body. When she gets to the front door, she pauses with her hand on the knob. “Your couch is hideous, by the way. Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you have to buy shitty looking stuff.”
When she slams the door behind her, the apartment shakes, and cold coffee spills from each cup.
***
It’s nearing five a.m. when y/n backs out of the complex. Her wipers race across the windshield, but do nothing against the downpour wreaking havoc in the city. She does her best to stay on what she assumes is her side of the road, swerving to the right each time headlights blind her.
“Shit.” Nothing is open, and she can’t even see where it would be safe to pull over to let the rain pass. But her home isn’t that far, and traffic isn’t too bad.
She comes to a stop at a red light, only to realize she missed a left turn she should’ve made a minute ago. “Damn it. Fucking hell.”
As soon as the light turns green, she spins the wheel to make a U-turn, and if it hadn’t been for the rain, and her own clouded mind, and Harry’s voice echoing in her ears, she might have seen the truck who didn’t even try to avoid her.
***
It’s the headache from hell that wakes her up. And it’s the sterile smell of hospital that jogs her memory. And it’s a nurse not much older than y/n that says something about you’re lucky to be alive.
She’s poked and prodded and asked a thousand questions before her IV is adjusted and a pill to ease one of the many pains scratching her body is handed to her in a small plastic cup. A police officer repeats half of this process, and somewhere in the mess of her reality, she learns that the other driver was sending a text to his wife when he plowed into her car. He’s at home and she’s here. Lucky to be alive.
She made calls to her mom and friends, and even managed to type out a decent email to her professors for her upcoming absence in class.
When she automatically pulled up Harry’s name on her phone, the last text he sent, the one inviting her over so he could make her more miserable than she already was, sat there in all its taunting glory.
What is she even supposed to say? Hey, I know you hate my existence right now, but I’m lying here in a hospital bed with bandages wrapped around my head. It’d be cool if you stopped by.
It’s not long before the sun pops up and reminds y/n of just how early it is. The clouds part, and it’s like it had never even rained, like it had never even been dark for hours, and if she closes her eyes, y/n can pretend that the past week hadn’t even happened.
***
“How are you feeling today?” The nurse checks y/n’s IV, humming after her question.
“Just sore. Ready to get out of here.”
“We’ve started the paperwork, so shouldn’t be too long. Who’s coming to get you?”
Y/n blinks, feeling stupid she hadn’t thought this far ahead. She doesn’t even have a car anymore. The nurse looks over the computer monitor, waiting for a response.
“Uh, my friend.”
“Awesome. Dr. Kirby has to come check on you one last time before you leave. I’ll go see if he can stop by now, if you want to let your friend know.”
As soon as the nurse is out the door, y/n scrambles to turn her phone back on, and once it is, her lock screen is filled with missed calls and unanswered texts.
She’ll respond later; gives her something to do in the car to occupy her in front of Harry.
She can’t call him. Harry’s not a monster, although the past week doesn’t exactly prove her case, but she knows he wouldn’t refuse to come get her. If anything, he’ll be annoyed she didn’t tell him about the accident sooner. But she’s too emotional to deal with hearing his voice.
She types out a text recounting her last 24 hours, along with the name of the hospital. He immediately reads it, and a moment later he’s trying to call.
To: Harry
I’m too tired to talk rn
She lies. And it works.
From: Harry
I’ll be there as fast as i can
***
“Baby?”
Y/n cracks her eyes open, irritated she never quite fell asleep. Confused as to why Harry’s calling her baby. Angry that she cares. And the next words out of his mouth are ones she’d been predicting.
“Why didn’t you call me? I would’ve dropped everything. You’ve been here all alone, shit. Are you okay? What hurts?”
He’s hovering over her, fidgeting, unsure if he can touch her.
“I’m fine now. Just sore. And tired.”
“Fuck I can’t believe this, I—”
“The doctor already said I can go. I’m not allowed to walk out on my own, so, you need to let the nurse know you’re here. She’ll take me down in a wheelchair.”
“Baby I’m so sorry-”
“No, Harry. You would still be busy hating my guts right now—”
“Hate you? I don’t hate you?”
“Well you did a great job this week making me feel otherwise.”
Harry sighs, gripping the bed frame and dropping his chin to his chest. When he looks back up he has tears brimming his eyes. “I’m sorry,” his voice cracks. “I know I’ve been an ass this week. I—you were right. I took out my anger from no one lovin’ the song on you.”
“Well it’s not no one. A lot of people did. And it’s unfinished anyway. You wouldn’t enjoy a meal if it was only cooked halfway.”
He nods, but y/n knows he’s only accepting her words because of the situation.
“You mean so much more to me than a leaked song. I’m sorry I treated you like shit. And that I—I made you think I hated you. You have every right to hate me.”
“You annoy the hell out of me, but I don’t hate you.”
His lips twitch, but a few tears slide down his cheeks. “I’m sorry.”
“I know.” She takes his hand off the rail and smoothes her thumb across his knuckles. “You can make it up to me by getting me out of here.”
“I can do that.” He kisses the top of her head and hits the remote to call for the nurse.
“You can really kiss me, y’know. I’m not gonna break.”
He’s hesitant, but slowly lowers his head to press his lips to hers. He’s timid, and his lips are still damp from tears, but it’s more relieving than either of them would ever admit.
The nurse ends their moment when she pops in the room, pushing a wheelchair in front of her. “Hi, you must be y/n’s friend.”
“Friend?” He peers down at y/n, suggestion lacing the word. “Care to explain?”
“Not really, I’m so tired.”
“Mhm.” He clicks his tongue, supporting her arm as she swings her legs off the bed. Once she’s standing and steady, he tucks her hair behind her ear and bends down so his mouth can graze her lobe. “Since we’re just friends, I guess you’ll have to sleep on my ugly couch.”

“Dude, you need to get out of bed.” Chenle slightly pushed your body. “You’re starting to smell.”
“What’s the point, Chenle?” You whined against your pillow, still a little wet from your mental breakdown an hour ago.
“You still need to go to classes.” He tried pulling your arm, but you didn’t budge.
“I don’t want to see him.”
“You don’t even have classes with him, for god’s sake.” He sighed, desperate to get you out of bed.
“Just leave me alone.” Your phone started buzzing, announcing Lucas’ fifth call of the day. It was barely 9:00 a.m.
“Okay, I’m done with this little attitude of yours.” He grabbed the device and handed it to you. “You’re gonna answer the phone and solve your problems like the goddamn adult you are, or else I might call your parents and tell them you’ve been sleeping with our professor.” You sat straight, eyes wide open.
“You wouldn’t.”
“Try me.”
You groaned and snatched the phone from his hands, pressing the green button with shaky hands.
“Hello?” Your voice came out weaker than expected.
“Y/n? Thank god. Are you alright? You haven’t been answering any of my calls or messages so I was worried something might have happened.” You hummed. “Can we meet?”
“Okay.”
“I can pick you up and then we can go to my apartment-”
“Don’t worry, I’ll ask Chenle to drive me.”
“Alright. See you then.” A soft murmur stopped you from hanging up. “I love you.” You couldn’t bring yourself to reply, instead ending the call.
“You were such a brave girl.” Your friend cooed while wrapping his arms around you.
“Shut up.”
Chenle helped you pick an outfit to ‘show him what he lost’ and drove you all the way to his apartment complex.
“Do you want me to come in with you?” You released your body from the seatbelt.
“It’s okay, lele. Thank you for driving me.” He nodded before you went out.
You took a deep breath, rehearsing the things you wanted to say to Lucas. But as soon as you saw him, your mind went blank. He looked bad, maybe even worse than you.
“Y/n.” He wanted so bad to hug you, to beg you not to leave him. But that would be selfish.
“Lucas.” He let you in, there were two cups of tea right above the coffee table in his living room.
You sat at a safe distance from him.
“I am deeply sorry, y/n. I should’ve told you earlier what was going on, but I was a coward. I knew this would be over the moment you found out.”
“So what is going on Lucas?” Your voice was calm as you picked up the teacup and brought it to your lips. Those soft, sweet lips.
“There are some things you don’t know about me.” He licked his lips nervously. “For instance, my parents come from wealthy families, and I’m their only child, therefore I’m...”
“The heir.” You completed, feeling a knot forming in your stomach.
“Yes.” He feared so much that you’d see him with different eyes. “My parents wanted me to have someone to guide me and support me for when I take over the family company. The woman you saw last Friday was one of their friends’ daughter.”
He waited for a reply that never came. How could you even answer to that?
“Say something, please.” He finally scooted closer to you, taking your hand between his. His heart broke at the sight of your teary eyes. “Anything, I’m begging you.”
“I understand your decision.” He expected anything but that. “They’re your parents after all, you want to make them proud. I just wish you’d told me earlier, it would’ve been easier to end things between us.”
“I’ll leave them.”
“What?”
“Just ask me to stay with you and I’ll abandon everything.” By the look in his eyes, you knew he meant it. “Ask me to stay with you.” It sounded more like a plead.
“No.” It took all of your inner strength to get that single word out.
“Y/n, I-”
“Lucas, don’t ask me to decide on your life when I barely know what to do with my own.” Yes, your words were hurtful, but you weren’t wrong. “I don’t want to be the girl who made you drift away from your family.”
At some point, you both had started crying, knowing that there was no way you could fix your relationship.
“I’m so sorry, y/n.” He apologized for the millionth time. “I never meant to hurt you.”
“I know you didn’t.” You held no grudge against him, after all, you would’ve probably done the same if you were in his situation. “Just promise me one thing. You’ll do what’s best for yourself, not for me or for your parents.” He nodded, eyes watering. “I should probably leave now.”
“Wait.” He held onto your wrist, his lost puppy eyes looking directly into your own. “If it isn’t too much to ask, can I have one last kiss?”
It was indeed to much to ask, but you didn’t care. You wanted to feel the warmth of his lips against yours one last time, so you went for it.
Straddling his lap, you grabbed the back of his head to pull him even closer. It was a kiss filled with passion and love, it was your own way of saying goodbye. It took a while for you to pull away.
“Thank you.” He murmured, hands caressing your hips. “I love you so much, y/n. I promise I’ll be back, okay?”
“I love you too, Lucas.” With that being said, you stood up. Avoiding to look back, you made your way out.
Chenle was still outside when you came down, leaning against his car with his arms wide open for you.
You didn’t hesitate to crash your body against his, crying your eyes out as he combed your hair with his fingers.
“I’m here for you. Always.”
(...)
3 years later...
“Where are you?”
“I’m picking up my luggage, see you at the parking lot?”
“Okay.”
A few minutes later, the tall, dark haired man walked out of the airport. A sports bag hanging from his left shoulder while the opposite hand dragged the suitcase.
“Kun!”
“Hey, man.” They greeted each other with a big hug. “I missed you.”
“Sorry, I wanted to visit earlier but work has been a bitch.” Specially when he didn’t even like what he was doing.
“Same here, it seems like the students get more unbearable with every semester.” He helped Lucas load his belongings into the truck. “So how’s Mrs. Wong been? Are you getting along well?”
“Shut up.” He rolled his eyes while getting inside the car. “Last week, my mom asked us about our sex life. She was like ‘I expect to have grandkids by the end of next year’, the last time we kissed was in our wedding.”
“So you’re gonna be a dad?” He mocked, starting the engine.
“Not from her kids at least.” Kun knew exactly what that meant.
“Lucas, you should really get over her. You’re a married man.”
“Not for much longer.”
“What do you mean?”
“We’ve been seeing a lawyer, none of us is happy with our relationship and we’ve already wasted three years of our life in it. It’s time to end it.”
“And what do your parents think about this?”
“They don’t have a say in this matter. I’m and adult and it’s my future we’re talking about.”
“And why couldn’t you come to this conclusion three years ago? You would’ve saved me all the suffering from listening to you ranting about how much you missed y/n.” Lucas hit his arm playfully, a big smile on his face as the thought of you crossed his mind.
He unlocked his phone, your picture was still his wallpaper.
“Has she graduated yet?”
“She’s actually doing her master’s degree. She’s an exceptional student, a lot of important labs already have their eyes on her.”
“Of course they do, they’d be stupid if they didn’t.” His finger traced your figure, smiling proudly at the image.
“Oh look at you, you haven’t stopped loving her one bit.”
“Stop it.”
“Oh, by the way, we need to stop by the campus. I have to pick up exams to check them at home.” Lucas’ eyes lit up at the possibility of meeting you.
“Do you think she’ll be there?”
“Probably, she’s usually devouring a book at the library or at the lab. Sometimes she stops by at my office for tutoring or my opinion on something.”
“You better not have tried something with her.”
“Actually...”
“What?”
“Just kidding, she’s my student, nothing more.”
“She better be.”
The campus was thankfully near the airport. Lucas almost fell as he exited the vehicle, eager to see you once again after all those years.
“Careful, give me a call when you’re done looking for her.”
“Sure.” He replied, already running away from the car towards the library.
He met a lot of his old students on the way, briefly greeting them before resuming his search. You weren’t there, so he decided to try at the labs.
You weren’t there either, but your ID and belongings were. You looked different in your picture, you looked so mature now, but your innocent aura was still intact.
“Are you looking for y/n?” One of the students asked as soon as he saw Lucas eyeing her ID. “She just left.”
“Oh, thank you.” He replied, still not taking his eyes off your mesmerizing face.
His phone vibrated.
‘She’s in my office.’ His heart sped up and his legs automatically started moving.
On his way to Kun’s office he tried to think of ways to greet you. Would a simple ‘hello’ be okay? Or would it be appropriate to tell you how much he missed you?
His mind was so busy he didn’t realized he was already in front of the office. He took a deep breath before opening the door. Your back was facing him while you passionately explained Kun the results of your experiment, not even realizing who just made an appearance.
“Y/n.” Lucas called from the door frame, causing you to interrupt your explanation.
“Yes?” You finally turned around. “Lucas?”
Your hair was tied up in a messy hair bun, a pair of safety glasses covering your eyes and a stained lab coat around your body. You looked like a mad scientist, a cute mad scientist.
“Hi.” Was the only thing he could pronounce. ‘How pathetic’ he thought.
“Long time no see.” You smiled so warmly, as if he hadn’t abandoned you to marry another woman. “Have you been well?”
“Y-yes, I mean, as well as I can be.” Your eyes wandered to his hand, taking notice of the golden ring around his finger.
“I’m glad.” You dedicated him another smile before turning back to face your professor. “I’ll send you the draft of my report as soon as I finish it. Excuse me.” You grabbed your laptop from the desk and went out, murmuring a small ‘bye’ to Lucas on your way out. The scent of your perfume striking him with a wave of nostalgia.
“Well, I don’t know what I was expecting but this was definitely not it.”
“I don’t know why I thought we would both burst into tears and say how much we missed each other.” He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.
“She’s probably going back to the lab, in case you want to talk to her again.” He nodded. “I’ll wait for you so we can head to my house.”
“Alright, I’ll try to be quick.” He went out again, this time at a slower pace.
He went back to the labs, your voice receiving him as soon as he crossed the entrance. Most of the students had already left, it was already getting dark.
“Zhong Chenle, get out of here, you’re distracting me.”
“But, y/n, I’m hungry and I don’t want to go alone to the cafeteria.”
“Not my problem.” You were focused on writing your report, the safety glasses still on your face.
“Uhm, are you busy?” Lucas knocked on the door, catching yours and Chenle’s attention.
“You’re back.” His eyes were wide open. “You know what? I’ll go get our food, see you.”
“Coward.” You muttered. “Come in, Lucas.” Even though there was no hint of anger in your voice, the fact that you were calling him Lucas and not Xuxi meant something bad.
“What are you working on, huh?” He says on the stool beside yours, taking a look at your screen.
“Just trying to find a cure for AIDS, nothing special.” You typed a few more words before saving the file. “What did you want to talk about Mr. Wong?”
“I think you know what.”
“I think so.” You removed the glasses, red marks over the area where they used to be.
“Cute.” He though out loud, causing you to touch your face, the color of your cheeks becoming pinker with every second. It was amazing how much of an effect his words still had on you.
“S-sorry, I wore these for more than five hours.”
“Don’t worry, I know what it’s like.” He tapped his fingers against the table. “Three years huh?”
“Yeah, seems like it was yesterday when we...” You chose not to finish the sentence, knowing that it would probably make you cry.
“I missed you.” His hand reached out for yours, the golden band around his finger burning your skin. “There hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t thought about you. You managed to take over my mind in a way that no one else could ever do.”
“We can’t do this.” With your free hand, you gently removed his hand from yours. “You’re married.”
“I’m getting divorced soon.” Your heart thumped so loudly against your chest that you were afraid he’d hear it. “We just need to fix some things and this whole thing will be over.”
You pulled out your notebook from your bag, tearing a piece of paper to write in it. You handed it to him with a genuine smile.
“Here’s my new number. Give me a call when you finish fixing those things, I’ve already waited for three years, so what’s a few more months?”

Chapter 5
Tumblr media
It was just supposed to be a dry run, the plan wasn’t supposed to be set in motion until a few days later, but Michonne had come back with Heath and Jacob bearing bad news and an injured Scott. Aaron helped carry him to the infirmary where Gloria patched up his leg, she then left Denise with Jacob to look after him as Gloria went back out to find out what exactly happened on what was supposed to be a dry run.
“The walkers broke through the quarry, we had to go with the plan.” Michonne tells Maggie, Aaron, and Gloria, “Daryl went with Sasha and Abraham to lead the herd away and everything was going as planned until we heard the horn coming from home. What was that anyway?”
“A group of people somehow got inside the walls, killed a bunch of people, and I guess one of them crashed a truck into the wall making the horn go off.” Gloria tells her.
Michonne frowns at this, “dammit...”
“What about Rick and Glenn?” Maggie asks, worried.
“Rick went to get the RV to redirect the herd, he told us to come back here to figure out what was going on. I was with Glenn and Nicholas when we got to a town that was overrun. He split off with Nicholas, he had this idea that if he lit a fire, it would stop the walkers from coming here.” Michonne explains.
Gloria furrows her brows as she remembers what Rick had done before, “because that’s how we distracted the walkers at the farm...”
“I tried to go instead...” Michonne sighs, her voice full of remorse, “I wanted to... but the fire never got lit. We had to keep going, I’m sorry. He said if he got stuck, he’d find a way to send us a signal.”
“They’ll be okay, they’ll make it back, they will.” Gloria says, although she wasn’t sure if she was trying to reassure Maggie or convince herself.
Maggie tearfully nods, worried for her husband’s safety. Just then, a familiar voice could be heard from outside the gates, calling out to whoever could hear him.
“Open the gates!”
Gloria and Michonne rush over to the main gates and push them open, revealing Rick with a large herd of walkers following him. Once they let Rick inside, they hurriedly shut the gates in time to keep the walkers out. The commotion from the walkers snarling and Rick yelling had attracted attention from the other residents of Alexandria. They were trapped within the walls of their own home with an army of walkers just outside.
“Come on.” Michonne says quietly to Gloria.
The two of them shut the clothed inner gate, blocking the view of walkers trying to claw their way into the community. As most of the residents had never even stepped outside the walls before, many of them were panicking and not knowing what to say or do.
“I know, and I understand that you’re all scared because you’ve never seen or been through anything like this.” Rick starts his speech to try and boost morale for the scared people of Alexandria, “the others who aren’t back yet, will be. Glenn will be back with Nicholas.”
Rick looks over to Maggie and he nods then looks over to Gloria, “Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha, they will all come back together.”
“What exactly do you expect us to do?” Tobin asks, his face full of skepticism.
“We keep the sound to an absolute minimum, hopefully the herd will pass when it’s quiet.” Rick suggests.
“It’s going to be a graveyard...” Francine sighs, her words cause the others to worry even more.
The feeling of doubt in Rick and fear is evident between the people of Alexandria. It was clear that they all blamed Rick for bringing the herd back and for coming up with the plan to lead the herd away.
“The quarry broke through sooner than we thought it would and that entire herd of walkers would have made their way back here. But Rick stopped that from happening, instead of having the entire herd tear this place apart, we only have half of that now and that is because of Rick.” Aaron steps up in his defense.
He then closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath, “the group that attacked us... I lead them back here. When I was out there with Daryl, he wanted to recruit more people but I... I wanted to scavenge a warehouse. We did what I wanted and we got caught in a trap set by those people. I left my bag behind and that’s how they found this place. I lead them straight here, that’s on me.”
It’s silent save for the groans and moans of the walkers outside the walls. Rick looks at Aaron in gratitude, he knew that he was trying to turn the mood to blame him for things that have happened instead. He pats the other man’s shoulder and nods at him. The crowd begins to disperse, keeping quiet as they all retreat back to their own homes.
“Gloria,” she hears Jacob call out to her as he walks towards her, “listen, I’m sorry about Glenn, I wanted to go with them but they wouldn’t have me.”
“Are you wondering why?” Gloria raises her eyebrow.
He sighs and shakes his head, “no, no I’m not... I am wondering though... why are there bodies inside the walls, did roamers get in?”
“No, people did,” Gloria tells him, “they got in here somehow and started slaughtering people...”
“What? Are Mindy and Gena okay?” he asks, frantically.
“They’re fine, at least they should be. I told them to stay inside, keep the doors locked until someone comes to get them,” Gloria tells him, “we should go check on them, let Mindy know you’re okay before she passes out.”
Jacob nods at that and the two make their way to Gena’s house. Gloria makes sure to knock on the door and call out to Gena to let her know it’s them. Shortly after, the door opens and Jacob rushes inside to make sure his sister is alright. Gloria walks into the house and closes the door behind her.
Mindy frowns as she sees the cuts and scrapes on his face, “Gloria, are the dangerous men outside gone?”
“Yeah, they’re gone.” Gloria nods.
“Okay, we’re going to the infirmary,” Mindy says, looking at Jacob, “the last thing we want is for the cuts on your face to get infected, and I’m not taking no for an answer.”
Jacob sighs and nods, complying with his sister’s words. They make their way to the infirmary, leaving Gena and Gloria alone.
“Gena,” Gloria calls out to her older sister to catch her attention, “Michonne said that Glenn’s still out there with Nicholas in some town, he wanted to light a fire to distract the herd from coming here.” Gloria says, her jaw tight as she tries to hold herself together.
Gena furrows her brow at her words as she sees right through Gloria, knowing she’s putting up a strong front, she pulls her in for a comforting hug, “Glenn will be fine, and Daryl will be too.”
Gloria smiles tearfully at her as she pulls back from the hug, nodding, “and so will we, we’ll keep this place up so they have a home to come back to.”
Gena nods then opens the container of cookies on the island counter, “cookie?” she asks, offering one to the younger.
“I thought you said you weren’t going to eat them because of all the sugar,” Gloria chuckles as she takes a cookie for herself.
“I might not have long left so I might as well have all the sugar I want.” Gena says, then takes a bite of her cookie, her words make Gloria frown.
“Don’t talk like that,” she scolds then groans when Gena shrugs, “you are so contradictory. One minute you’re telling me that things will be okay, the next you’re talking about not having any time left. What the hell do you actually think?!”
“I think that I’m not gonna make it!” Gena snaps, “I’m surprised I even made it this far. You can fight, Glenn’s fast, of course both of you are gonna make it, but me? I can only fight with my words, that’s why I became a lawyer but what good is that gonna do for me now? What, am I going to just yell at the undead to stop coming at me?!”
Gloria puts down the cookie on the island counter and holds Gena by her shoulders, “look at me. You will make it, okay? It doesn’t matter that you can’t fight or you’re not as fast as Glenn, you’ll make it because we will all make it. You’re not alone in this, we got your back. You said I can fight, right? I’ll protect you.”
Gena chuckles softly at her words, “who’s supposed to be the older sister?”
“It doesn’t matter who’s older or younger, we’re family, and family protect each other no matter what.” Gloria says with a warm smile.
Gena’s eyes well up with tears and she caresses Gloria’s cheeks, breaking into a sob, “what did I do to you? You always had to fend for yourself... I’m so sorry...”
“It’s okay,” Gloria says, pulling Gena in for a hug as the older cries in her arms, “if it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have lasted this long anyway.”
As Gena tries to stifle her sobs, Gloria’s eyes land on a photo album on the island counter near the container of cookies. She reaches out to slide it towards her and opens it, her movement making Gena pull away from the hug to see what Gloria was doing. She flips to a page in the album with childhood photos of the three siblings. She chuckles when she sees the three of them as children.
“You brought photo albums with you?” Gloria teases.
“Of course, I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to see my baby brother and sister again so the least I had were these.” Gena admits, looking at the photos.
A sad smile pulls at Gloria’s lips then Gena clears her throat, trying not to break down and cry again. She flips to a specific page in the album and points to a photo.
“That’s my favorite picture of us.” Gena informs her.
It was a photo of them all in formal clothing. Glenn was in a black suit, Gloria in a dark blue dress, and Gena in a red dress. The photo was taken at one of their cousin’s weddings.
“It’s my favorite because we all look so grown up and happy. I’m also pretty sure it’s the only photo of us all smiling.” Gena explains.
Gloria laughs and nods, “yeah, if you look at all of these it’s either me pouting and crying or Glenn making a weird face at the camera.”
The sisters go through more photo albums for hours, reminiscing over past events captured in the photos. After Mindy and Jacob had returned to the house, Gloria went back to her own to rest as it was getting quite late. She had tried to sleep but no matter how exhausted her body felt, her mind was not allowing her to fall asleep. She’d been tossing and turning in her bed for hours when she decided to get up. Gloria walks into the kitchen and pours herself a glass of water before sitting on a stool at the kitchen island counter. She places the glass in front of her as she props her elbows up on the counter, clasping her hands together to keep herself from fidgeting anxiously.
Gloria couldn’t help but be worried about Glenn and Daryl, no matter what anyone else told her. It was the fact that she had no idea where they were that worried her the most. A big part of her wished that she went against Daryl’s wishes and gone out with them, at least then she would be with either of them and know what the heck was going on. Now, she was just sitting in the kitchen helplessly, not knowing what else to do. The door opening pulls Gloria out of her thoughts and she forces a smile at Maggie who walks into the house.
“Hey, why aren’t you sleeping?” Maggie asks, stepping towards her, a worried look on her face.
“I don’t think any of us are gonna get any sleep tonight,” Gloria chuckles softly and then she sighs, “how are you holding up?”
“Not great,” Maggie tells her honestly, joining her on one of the other stools at the kitchen island counter, “I almost went out there to find him.”
“Alone?” Gloria furrows her brow in concern.
“I was about to, but Aaron insisted on coming with me,” Maggie tells her, “showed me a way out from the sewers, we were almost out, but I changed my mind...”
“It’s good that you did, Glenn wouldn’t want you out there, not in the middle of this,” Gloria says, holding her hand in reassurance.
Maggie lets out a shaky breath, “I’m pregnant.”
Gloria’s eyes widen at the news then she smiles at her, “congratulations.”
“For what?” Maggie snaps, tears brimming in her eyes, “having a baby who’s father might already be dead?”
“Maggie, you can’t think like that,” Gloria says sternly, “Glenn’s going to be back, I know he will.”
“How can you be so sure?” Maggie asks as she tries to keep herself from crying.
“It’s Glenn. He’s not going to let you go through this alone, he’ll be back and he’ll take care of you. I know him, he’s going to do everything he can to get back to you and your baby,” Gloria gives her hand a light squeeze to comfort her.
A small smile tugs at Maggie’s lips and she smiles tearfully at Gloria, nodding, “you’re right, that’s how Glenn is...”
“Yeah,” Gloria smiles in agreement, then she lets out a breath.
“Hey,” Maggie calls out, making the other look at her, “Daryl’s gonna be back too.”
Gloria nods at that, “our boys will be back, they will be.”
---
In the morning, Gloria goes out to check on the others. She mainly wanted to see if Glenn or Daryl had come back, but unfortunately they were still outside the walls. Her first stop was the infirmary to check up on Scott.
“How’s it going?” Gloria asks, she glances at Scott who’s still asleep on the patient bed.
“He had an infection and was burning up last night.” Denise informs.
Gloria looks at her and frowns, “why didn’t you come find me?”
“I know I should have, but I wanted to try first... I wanted to try and figure it out on my own in case I couldn’t find you. I couldn’t let what happened to Holly stop me from trying.” Denise says.
Her words make Gloria smile proudly and she nods, “since his heart rate is normal, I’m gonna take an educated guess that you managed to figure it out?”
“Yep, I did,” Denise grins, “I injected his wound with saline and extracted the pus from it. Once I did, his heart rate stabilized.”
Gloria pats Denise’s shoulder, “you’ve officially been promoted to a doctor.”
Denise giggles then bites her lip, blush creeping on her face, “I um...”
“Yes?” she raises an eyebrow in question.
“I... kinda kissed Tara yesterday after figuring things out.” Denise admits shyly.
“And you kept on denying that you didn’t like her.” Gloria calls her out, laughing.
Denise rolls her eyes jokingly at her teasing but laughs with her anyway. A knock on the infirmary door interrupts their chat as they both turn and see Morgan. The two women greet the man who in turn smiles at them.
“I uh... I was hoping to speak with Denise alone. I heard she was a psychiatrist before and I have uh... some issues I wanted to work out.” Morgan says sheepishly.
Gloria smiles understanding and nods, “he’s all yours, Dr. Cloyd.”
Denise beams at her new title, grinning shyly as she bids farewell to Gloria who leaves the two in the infirmary. She goes on to find Maggie who was on the platform keeping watch. She climbs up to meet her sister-in-law and stands beside her, looking out into the herd of walkers just outside the walls.
“Have you seen any signs?” Gloria asks her.
Maggie shakes her head, “no... just walkers.”
Gloria nods and sighs. They were both worried for Glenn, it wasn’t that they didn’t think he could handle himself, it was more so of the fact that he was out there with Nicholas. What if he hadn’t changed and tried to kill Glenn again, they would never know. Emotion overcomes Maggie as her eyes well up in tears, she looks down and sniffles, doing her best to stop herself from crying. Gloria looks at her sympathetically and holds her shoulder firm for reassurance.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you yesterday...” Maggie sighs deeply, “I shouldn’t have said what I said about Glenn being dead...”
“It’s okay...” Gloria pauses then chuckles, “are you gonna snap at me if I say that I blamed your hormones?”
Maggie eyes her playfully then finally breaks into a smile, “no, I’ll just push you off this ledge.”
The two of them laugh lightly as they look out into the distance. Both of their expressions change as something in the distance catches their eyes. A bundle of green balloons were floating up into the sky. It dawns on both of them that this was the sign they were waiting for, Glenn was alive and this was his signal.
“We gotta tell Rick.” Maggie says, rushing down the ladder.
“Hey, be careful.” Gloria calls out as she quickly follows her down.
“Rick! Rick!” Maggie calls out as she runs towards the sheriff, “that’s Glenn.”
He was also looking up at the sky, his eyes on the bundle of bright green balloons. Rick glances at her and nods with a small smile. His smile is short lived though as they all hear a thundering crack of wood along the wall. The watchtower begins to sway just before it leans into the wall and crashes down, taking the metal walls with it.

Next Chapter
Sorry for not having any Daryl in this one but it’s worth it, I swear! I’d say this is kinda like the calm before the storm? The next one gets pretty intense so look forward to that! Please let me know what you guys thought of this chapter, it was a rather emotional one in my opinion ^^

“Took you long enough”
“Well sorry we were being chased throughout italy possibly in the brightest car possible thanks to six” one told her not liking her attitude as he tried to look over to see if anyone was coming
zero quickly got into the car managing to fit into the back squished next to two other women as five was trying conduct surgery on two
“it would’ve gone better if one didn’t act like a fucking dick to the lawyer”
“well he wasn’t cooperating so we had to go to plan b”
“I thought me hacking into the servers was plan b?”
“well that was plan c if plan b didn’t work”
“for fucks sake”
The girl had rolled her eyes already knowing that everything has gone to shit and that something or someone will most likely be hurt in the end, except for two where it wasn’t her fault.
Zero that was her number. She was the first to be recruited after almost being arrested for hacking into the servers to expose some of the wealthiest people of all time for what they have done that the country was keeping quiet about. She was given the option to do something better for the world and she took it. The only downside was she would have to leave her life behind. That meant faking her death and leaving her twin brother, her parents, and her friends behind. She didn’t like the idea at first but she weighed out all her options and realized that she would do more good in the world if people didn’t know who she was anymore. They ruled her death out as suicide and the hardest part of it all was having to watch her family and friends bury an empty coffin six feet under the ground.
Now she was in Italy, a mission she thought would probably go great and all until it all went to shit. she had been sitting near the lawyers office waiting for her signal to hack into the lawyers but one had different plans afterwards when told no
“Please tell me she’s stopped bleeding? I’d like to keep this car clean and pristine, and hopefully keep it” six asked looking into his rearview mirror
“That’s impossible five is trying her hardest to get the bullet out but it isn’t working. Have you seen how surgeries go? I’m sure there’s going to be blood everywhere. Also youre not keeping the car, you’re going to need to get rid of it”
“we’re going to need a hospital” five said
“it’s getting a little intense in here don’t you think?” one asked everyone causing the women to glare at him
“Where did the other guys come from?” two asked loading her gun
“i told you down from the room you and one were in. they haven’t updated their shit in a long time they must’ve added new rooms”
“i was talking to one”
“i was covering the door. You were shot from a window”
Zero couldn’t focus on whatever else was happening and decided to look for the other members of her team before putting herself back into the conversation
“It’s true. That lawyer has had guards since he graduated and began working. I fucking told you guys this already.” “Well some people don’t listen” two grits through her teeth
“All that matters is that we got this phone, zero here. Do your little penelope garcia hacker thing”
Zero took the phone from him and began doing her thing. When she plugged his phone into her laptop, she began typing away to try and unlock it. It was too encrypted for her though she had managed to get past the first part of the security system that was keeping her locked out. What she didn’t know was that she also need an eye verification and pictures wouldn’t do it justice unless she had a program that can easily make a 3d model of it
“Please tell me one of you have a device that can make a 3D eye because i truly need it to get past the second part of this wack ass security system” zero had asked not tearing her eyes away from her laptop
“No but we do have something better” two told her trying to ignore the pain she was going through
“Hey six, you wanna you know, drive faster? Because i think they got us” one asked him sarcastically as more guards pulled up next to them
“Yeah hold on to something” six told them pressing on the gas causing them to almost collide with the busy traffic ahead of  almost crashing and causing multiple crashes and explosions
“i feel like i’m going to throw up” zero said holding her head and trying to convince herself she’s fine
“Me too.”
“What the fuck did you guys do in there anyways? Why are you covered in blood?”
“The head, neck, and face are very vascular so it’s a lot of blood.” “We know basic anatomy one”
“Are you telling me you killed a mafia guy? In italy?” zero asked him leaning over the seat ready to kill him
“I didn’t. Two did. Anyways you should know what his client did”
“I do, I'm the one who told you his shit.”
“Everyone just shut up for one second there’s a BMW chasing us” five yelled
“Is now a bad time to tell you that we have a helicopter on our tail but don’t worry i’m trying to intercept their signal with some Italian children’s tv”
Six continued to drive, while one kept looking out the window praying to god that the mission doesn’t end entirely more fucked up than it already is. Two was under intense amount of pain as five kept digging into her to find the bullet that was inside her
“Can i just take a moment to thank you? There is nothing else I’d rather being doing with my life”
“I don’t care”
“Hey be nice. If it weren’t for you we wouldn’t be in this shit show right now” five said not looking up
Six made a turn that caused him to think fast and steer the wheel and almost hit a truck that drove against them before it hit one of the BMW that was chasing them. They continued their course on trying to get away before six had almost hit a group of nuns who didn’t so easily forgive him and then hitting a pedestrian on accident claiming he had the right of way. Five was getting annoyed with him while she tried to fix two and zero closed her eyes to prevent herself from throwing up. She was good at reading and driving but in this case, a high speed car chase, it wasn’t agreeing with her and felt like everything she had since being in italy was going to come up from her
“Nice call on the Day-Glo green. It blends right into the Italian architecture”
“Is it too flashy? You don’t like the color?”
“SIX WATCH THE FUCK OUT”
“BABY, BABY BABY!”
“PUPPIES” everyone yelled out at once as six swerved around almost hitting a few dogs, a woman and her baby, and other civilians as they all ran away. They continued the chase until this time someone on a motorcycle started to chase them
“Oh no he’s got a gun”
“Move, zero duck” two told the two women with her and she started to shoot
“She okay?” one asked about two current state
“She’s lost a shit ton of blood”
“This isn’t a shit ton”
“I am the judge of what’s shit ton. You see? Blood. Red.” five told her showing the bloody rags from trying to stop the bleeding
“I can hear it pumping out, please staunch it or whatever you call it” one asked as soon as blood squirted onto five’s face and two yelling in pain. As it happened everyone groaned in disgust as zero tried to move her stuff away to prevent anything from getting messed up. She had managed to dig up more information about the generals and what they were planning to do. Zero continued to listen to her team's bickering as six tried to avoid hitting people on Vespa's.
“I’m starting to feel it” six said swerving and making a turn
“I’m feeling fucking carsick. Now i know how zero feels”
Zero smiled to herself as she got up a map of the city to hide themselves in for a bit so she can continue in peace using the eye two had cut out
“One for four?”
“Yeah, go for four”
“We need you”
“‘course you need me. I’m here”
“Remind me where the fuck is “here”?” six asked looking around
““Here” here. Like here?”
“Specificity please?” one said annoyed
Zero had looked out the window and found where he was talking about
“Here. right fucking here!” he yelled out to the sky
“He’s at the top of the Duomo”
“Top of the Duomo, like we talked about. Look up” four and zero had said at the same time. This caused everyone to look at her with a questioning look
“What he said it in the meeting after one said for him to do his thing and plus i saw someone on top of it and he’s the only person insane enough to do that shit”
“Exactly sweetheart” he said smirking as she turned red as one looked through the rearview mirror
Six continued to drive seeing as they were being chased leaving four behind and having to detour. Zero never understood four and how he wasn’t scared doing stuff like that. She never really got to have a proper conversation with him before too.
“So some good news and bad news. I’ve managed to change the channels so instead of watching us being chased and shit, but the helicopters are still onto us”
“Well this will be a day for the history books”
“Hey guys. ‘M coming north. Down on Via de..Via de... There’s so many fucking vias in Italy”
“Should’ve brushed up on your Italian architecture before deciding to climb it” zero told him
“Well maybe you could give me a layout of Italy and i’ll show what i know”
“Uh guys i know you’re horny and all but now’s not exactly the time” one told them as four and zero turned red not meaning for it to sound that dirty
The group had managed to go the wrong way and miss four again leaving him behind causing them to think of another plan quick
“Round the corner. That’s it, keep coming, keep coming.” he said before cutting the rope and letting the poles let loose
“One i’m going to need that fucking eye now if you want this shit!” zero had yelled
One grabbed the eye out of his pocket and put it in view so everyone could see it. Six groaned in disgust
“Who knew the optic nerve was so long? Surprised his asshole didn’t come with it. This isn’t going to work. Pull over” he said as six hit something causing it to leave one’s fingers before giving it to zero
“He’s right there’s an empty alley up on this next turn” zero yelled
As soon as the eye left one’s fingers it landed under six’s feet causing him to yell
“Don’t you fucking squish it!”
“Fucking grab it!”
“You squish it, the mission’s over!” zero yelled. It wasn’t entirely true seeing how she could somehow manipulate it but she needed the real thing. Four overheard everything and all the yelling and commented on how everything was stressful
“can you guys just stop arguing, we need to get this shit done”
“tell that to six and his driving that caused the eye to fall”
Six pulled over to the alley and one handed the eye over to zero waiting for her to download everything from the phone into the computer.
“Who’s eye is that?”
“It’s the lawyers”
“Did you scoop it out or-”
“God, no! I didn’t scoop it out, two did” one told him as two hit her head against the door in pain
“Almost there. Don’t worry.”
“All of rovach’s transmissions are going to lead us straight to the four generals in less than 30 seconds now.”
“I’m getting lightheaded”
“You’re not the one holding it” zero had said glaring at him
“guys? cops are looking right at us” five warned looking back
“Don’t you dare move your foot off that brake or i swear to god”
As the information finished downloading and zero had thrown the eye back to one and yelled at six to go while trying to read about the four generals and where they could find them
“Zero, please tell me you can lose that police chopper?” four asked
“On it. While we’re at it, one? Now’s a good time to get three”
At this point four had started to leave again to find three, who was sitting in a truck trying to learn Italian waiting for his cue. six and zero worked together to try to lose the chopper. They both had a plan in mind but they knew one wasn’t going to like it. As six continued to drive, they began shooting at the team again causing one to yell at two to shoot. Two was already frustrated seeing that she was getting operated on and trying to shoot back wasn’t comfortable especially if she had to turn around. How they were all still alive was beyond zero’s thoughts right now.
“I’ve got a plan but i don’t think you’re going to like it.” zero said ducking avoiding bullets that were going through the car at the moment
“anything’s better than this right now” one told her back
“Well it involves the Uffizi”
“Fuck, no”
‘Yeah, the museum next to where we got those mochaccinos” six interrupted knowing what zero thought of
“I remember the mochaccinos! i’m saying fuck, no!” one yelled back at the both of them
They ignored what one had told them and went into the direction of the Uffizi as six turned the radio on to calm down. One didn’t appreciate it though and ripped the radio and threw it out. At this point everyone’s blood pressure had risen and they were all bound to do meditation soon if they didn’t calm down. as they entered the Uffizi entrance they knew that their faces were going to be on the news everywhere if they didn’t work fast so zero could erase everything.
“You said whatever i needed to do, right? so, i’m just gonna do it.” six said backing up before putting it back in drive
“i can’t believe i died for this shit”
“i’m not exactly that religious so if anyone needs me i’m going to be praying” zero said trying keep her vomit down
Six had driven into the museum, trying to avoid all the statues and art while having way too much fun. He managed to destroy a few statues and  Zero was holding onto the door praying that she will get to have an Italian getaway or just any getaway that didn’t involve them ruining anything. when she opened her eyes, she found them in front of the statue of David. they drove off as soon as three called them to tell them about two black suburban's coming their way and four telling them he’s going to them on his skateboard before hitting them with a grenade and six commenting that they’ve got a superhero on the squad.
Entering what looked like under a bridge, zero knew this would end here as two yelled at one about not having anymore bullets in French
“i don’t speak that” one said scared
“shit’s about to get crazy” six commented
“NOW?!? I’m conducting surgery!” five yelled
“i’m trying to lose a thousand cars”
“She’s going to die, you know?”
“you can live for days with a gunshot wound in the stomach. She’ll be fine”
Five had started to yell at one in Spanish as soon as he said that asking if he was suddenly the doctor
“I don’t speak that either”
“Two ran out of bullets and five was asking are you suddenly a doctor”
“Yeah thanks for the input Duolingo. Up top!” one yelled at zero and six as he hit another guy with the car
Five went back to being quiet as zero looked over to see that she had gotten the bullet out of two. “Oh that feels so much better”
six continued to drive as one praised his driving before they were getting shot at in the front making it impossible to see. they had pushed the windshield out of the way before six stepped on the brake causing them to swerve and get hit. when they had opened their eyes and tried to calm their breaths, they saw that six had been impaled by a rod. zero felt sick to her stomach and climbed out of the car before the rest got out. Three and four had stopped as well before they saw zero on the ground crying and shaking before seeing what happened.
“where’s-” four asked before seeing six’s state and going back to help five and two
one picked zero up and tried to carry her body to where the others were. he knew how much six meant to her and made sure he was somewhere he would feel at peace no matter how he was.
“c’mon, do this for him. he wouldn’t want to see you like this” one whispered to her making sure no one heard him

ani....morphs.....
ok so picking up after the david trilogy, which hit hard as FUCK, we have book 23, which basically was a semi truck that ran over my corpse, jesus christ, they really followed up the david trilogy w/all that....
23 was so so good and also painful. its the culmination of a lot of tobias’s characterization in the series thus far and also we finally get the reveal we’ve been waiting for about elfangor....ooooh man
and there was a lot of painful stuff in this book but the worst imo was tobias wondering if it were possible that somebody wanted him and would take care of him, only to have it all come crashing down in the worst way when it turned out aria was visser three in morph, ouch.
that was so brutal augh. and when he figured it out and just crash landed and kept thinking about how he wanted to die and how he was stupid to think he could have a home...bro get these kids some THERAPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so yeah that book was absolutely brutal but also so good...and it further fleshed out the animorphs working as a near-flawless team, w/the whole setup of tobias meeting w/the lawyer being so airtight and well-planned
also more free hork bajir!! its cool that there's stuff happening w/them offscreen, I like that
I literally had to take a break from reading the books bc the david triology + 23 was like so much, and also bc the olympics were on and all my time got dedicated to watching those, but then I opened 24, not sure what to expect, and BAM it was the helmacrons lmaoooo
I don't even remember the helmacrons but ig a lot of people hate them? lmao so that whole reputation preceded the book and I was like oh wow time for a change in tone
which wasn't wrong but also I liked that book?? I was never bored, even tho the whole thing was patently ridiculous and also had very little bearing on the overarching story
but I think it would be a standout if it were a TV episode w/a good budget - the visuals were amazing even in text, and I can imagine all the cool shrinking/growing/cellular stuff would be WICKED cool visually (ideally 2d animation but an ant man-esque live action adaptation wouldn't be terrible if they had the budget for it)
whatever let me dream. so yeah I didn't hate the helmacron book even tho the helmacrons themselves were...sure something. lmao I think they come back? that should be interesting
next book is the arctic one, we have yet another alien of the week style adventure - I liked this one too, it felt like more plot-y stuff happened since they destroyed the base, and marco’s POV is always fun
I do find it funny/interesting how sometimes when the animorphs do something - like in this book, destroying that base in the arctic - it doesn't really seem to impact the yeerks much/it doesn't get brought up much after that. and then other things like them destroying the ground-based kandrona get mentioned a lot (that example is understandable tho bc that WAS a big deal). its just hilarious to me how blowing up entire building complexes has become so routine that it isn’t even worth mentioning at this point
Also I adore when they meet other random people/kids and are chill w/them, like w/that kid they met in the rain forest earlier on w/the time travel
the descriptions of the brutally cold weather were great. I hate the cold so I was like oof this is a nightmare lmao
also ig that was the first ghostwritten book and I did kinda notice it was slightly different than usual? maybe? I could be imagining it tho
okay but book 26 tho...BOOK 26. bruh
that was SO good and I really didn’t know what to expect - but when we finally revisited Jake’s dream w/crayak I knew it was gonna be good (but I didn’t expect it to be a chess game war epic..!)
basically I loved it. SUCH a good Jake book - I really appreciate his character now as opposed to when I was 10 and often overlooked him (sorry jake).
similarly, when I was a kid and read these I sympathized a lot w/the chee and felt bad for them towards the end of the series when they had to get more involved in the war (genuinely don’t remember what they even do but ik I felt bad)
but now I've basically 180′d and I'm like damn those chee sure are hypocrites huh.
like they could solve So many of the animorphs problems but their stringent adherence to nonviolence leads to them actively getting in the animorphs way sometimes? and obviously pacifism is a complicated topic, but in this case it also intersect w/the whole ‘child soldier’ thing, and as beings who are insanely old and wise, the chee probably shouldn't just leave all the dirty work to a bunch of literal middle schoolers
aaaaanyways. there’s so much I love about this book. the iskoort! they were sure something. and the ‘plot twist’ that they are actually 2 beings, the Isk and the Yoort - and the Yoort are essentially Yeerks - that slapped. the symbiosis of it all!
I loved the part where they all realize what this means, that this is why Crayak wants the iskoort destoryed - because someday the yeerks might come across them and realize parasitism is not the only way. I love it!
alas I don’t recall the iskoort returning in the story (but also my memory is terrible so who knows?) but still that would be cool
basically I feel like this is the book where Jake Truly comes into his own as a leader, in every sense. he outmaneuvers Crayak, and even the ellimist, who’s yanking them around in his own way
the scene where jake shoves the howler off the cliff and jumps off and morphs and acquires the howler...that was fantastic and tense.
also the murder is definitely becoming more overt. I mean, it has been for a while, but it isn’t really pointed out as much anymore. oof
more on the chee - as Jake points out in this book, and other characters point out in other books - the chee could have saved the pemalites, but instead just stood by while their creators were slaughtered. on the other hand, jake says, what do the chee do AFTER they’ve killed the howlers - where to point them next? when is the end of their violence?
buuuuut also standing by while atrocities occur is pretty damning, as is frequently mentioned in this series - from the very beginning, when marco initially doesn’t want to get involved in the war at all, and the other animorphs basically tell him that turning his back on the war and acting like he doesn’t even know it’s happening would be immoral and cowardly (which imo this reaction helps to push marco in the direction he ends up going, but I digress) - this topic comes up again in 19 when cassie quits the team and rachel is upset bc she sees it as cassie elevating her own feelings above the greater good (as in, as long as cassie feels good about how she acts, it doesn’t matter how much preventable evil the yeerks are committing while she turns away). etc etc. but that’s essentially what’s happening w/the chee - even tho they help w/intel, the lack of any sort of Action on their part means that they’re essentially allowing awful things to happen when they could prevent them. this is rambly but basically...animorphs deals so much in grey areas, and the chee are noticeably black and white in their actions, despite falling, in a meta sense, in an extremely grey area. its such good, thought provoking writing!
anywayssss I keep talking about the chee lmao what else was there. oh YEAH jake and cassie kissed for the first time awww that was super cute
and ofc immediately marco teases them as asks jake if he’s gonna kiss him next, and all I can say is...marco is a bicon
also I love the background worldbuilding w/the iskoort, how they have all these groups and guilds and stuff - its not dwelled on much, which actually works really well to give the world/species a sense of lived-in realness
okay oh man and the reveal at the end that the howlers were just like...children who thought the whole thing was a game...AUGHH man that’s sooo fucked
like, when jake morphs the howler and has rachel ready to knock him down in grizzly morph if he gets out of control due to the howler’s murderous instincts, and he morphs to find that the howler is...playful, like a dolphin morph. SUCH a good fucked up sense of dawning horror there
and the fact that as far as I can tell the chee KNEW this, but wanted revenge anyways, so they let the animorphs assume that the howlers were Evil On Purpose
also I love smaller moments, like jake seeing that ax is ashamed for briefly running away during one battle w/the howlers, and then entrusts him w/an important task bc he knows that ax will see that as redemption - and when everyone thought jake was dead and were so happy when he wasn't (they all love each other so much im gonna cry about these child soldiers augh)
basically that book was so good
man one thing I absolutely love is that the longer the series goes on the more obvious it is that andalites, despite inventing morphing technology, barely use it themselves
like, most of the andalite characters we see barely morph. its kind of a last resort to them, as they’re already plenty dangerous in their regular forms
meanwhile for the animorphs, that’s all they have to fight with. that’s their only weapons against the yeerks, and its so fun to see them use the power in so many varied ways, and so creatively, while the andalites have barely scratched the surface of their own technology
its also interesting to contrast against the yeerks who start out w/absolutely no technology, and the andalites share some but not all of their technology w/them...its too bad that morphing technology was just starting out cause that would’ve been interesting
like imo a lot of the conflict w/the yeerks could’ve been avoided if they could just nothlit into better forms - of course, there’d still be plenty of yeerks who want to go start wars or w/e, just like pretty much any species in the series, but a lot of yeerks would probably be like ‘yeah I'm good’ and just chill out as nothlits
also people online love to talk about how humans are alienfuckers and would definitely have sex w/sentient aliens and whatnot, and while I'm not saying that's untrue, its just funny bc in animorphs the truest alienfuckers are definitely the andalites
as of the hork-bajir chronicles, we now have a second instance of an andalite morphing another species to be in an inter-species alien romance (and eventually have kids)
speaking of, I don’t think I’ve talked abt the hork bajir chronicles yet??? even tho I read it a while ago lmao
HBC was great...I honestly haven’t really run into an animorphs book I’ve actually disliked at this point, I’m sure it’ll come w/all the ghostwriting and whatnot, but I’ve liked at least some aspects of every book
anyways HBC was great, and it’s funny bc I remember that I read this book as a kid, and yet rereading it now I didn’t remember a single bit of it lmaooo
I really liked the framing device of the free hork bajir telling this story to tobias. I also liked how we know from the beginning that this story wont have a happy ending - we know all the hork bajir end up enslaved by the yeerks, but it’s still somehow hopeful at the end? I think this is largely due to the framing device tbh.
also I love toby, and I love that the First free hork bajir named their kid after tobias ;_;
and oooh mannn I LOVED the different POVs from this book. all the characters were so interesting! aldrea was fascinating - I really like the increasingly negative view of the andalites that the readers are getting, all while maintaining the sense that they aren’t like, actively evil, just that they have their issues - like aldrea’s arrogance, and the general andalite arrogance which lead to the loss of the hork bajir. also, who knew andalites had their own brand of sexism? Ls
I did like getting a female andalite tho, that was cool. and dak was really cool, he was such a good, compassionate character who was able to maintain his morals in an interesting way throughout the story
and VISSER THREE...or should I say esplin 9466, because he’s not visser 3 yet...getting his ‘origin story’ was excellent - I really like how we’re learning about visser 3 backwards - we start off the series w/him as the main villain, and he’s campy and menacing, and then we see him in the andalite chronicles as a power-hungry sub-visser trying to climb the ranks and eventually getting alloran as a host, and then back even further here, w/the start of his focus on the andalites and the beginning of his ambition. its been very cool and interesting to see
plus, the beginning of the yeerks as we know them! seerow! alloran! it’s a party and nobody is having a good time, except for some of the yeerks.
I like how it’s pretty obvious that the andalites are well-meaning with their interactions w/the yeerks, but go about it the wrong way - they give them enough technology that the yeerks realize there’s a whole world out there to experience, and then they blockade the yeerks on their planet and tell them they can’t leave. nnnnot the best approach imo
again, as I said above, I’m interested in how things could’ve gone if the andalites had given the yeerks morphing technology early on - could a lot of the conflict have been avoided, or would it have been worse? the yeerks seem pretty evil in this book, immediately jumping to enslave anyone they can. otoh we hear from esplin that not all yeerks like having host bodies, and find it overwhelming, preferring to swim around in the yeerk pool as a slug - I assume as host bodies became more available this type of thinking was probably stamped out in yeerk society or w/e, but there are a lot of interesting what-ifs in the situation
I loved the scene where esplin first experiences having a host, and immediately knows he can’t go back. there are a bunch of great sensory descriptions, and it’s a nice scene to pinpoint as a foundational moment for the visser three in the current story, who spent a lot of time and energy getting what he sees as the best possible host body, an andalite
I find it interesting how much visser three clearly respects the andalites, even while constantly deriding them. and you can see the origins of that here as he immediately focuses in on the andalites, working to become an expert on them in order to make himself useful enough to move thru the ranks
another thing I like is how esplin seems a lot more crafty and ambitious than the visser three from modern times - I would guess that reaching his goal (andalite host body) and being given all that power was detrimental, playing on his weaknesses instead of his strengths. basically, I don’t think it’s ooc or anything, I can see how HBC-esplin became animorphs-esplin, especially w/TAC in between
as for seerow...poor dude. you really do have to feel for him, because you get the sense he really did just want to be kind to the yeerks, but it was borne from a place of pity, and he (and the other andalites) consistently held too much power over the yeerks for the species relations to ever be truly equal and functional
AUGH I have so many thoughts about alien space politics. omg. I need to talk about the actual story lmao
so yeah I also feel for aldrea, she had a rough time, watching her entire family die and being thrown into a hopeless war
and then the andalite council or w/e not listening to her bc she's a girl AND seerow’s daughter...oof
also, I really really liked the running theme of the andalites - specifically aldrea - looking down on the hork bajir as ‘simple’ and constantly underestimating them, especially dak
and I like how this is portrayed as a bad attitude for aldrea to have, and she still remains and interesting and sympathetic character even while having obvious flaws. it’s about being 3-dimensional baby!
and oh man I love that dak realizes that aldrea looks down on him, and his entire species, but he can see that that’s how the andalites are, and it all connects back to the beginning of the story w/the yeerks, bc the andalites looked down on the yeerks and treated them with pity and kept them pinned under their proverbial thumb ‘for their own good’ and look how that turned out
but dak is wise and kind enough to not hate aldrea for this, even acknowledging when she’s using him, but not pushing her away because he recognizes good in her too - and she ends up changing, partially because of his faith in her
and I feel like it can all be compared to that scenario of like - a hypothetical creature that lives in a 2D world suddenly being thrust into a 3D world, and comprehending what its seeing, and understanding that there’s so much more out there outside of the flat lines of its world - and then its dropped back into 2D-land with the knowledge of all the stuff its missing out on, and no way to get back to it or explain it to anybody else
I loooove that ‘trope’ or w/e you wanna call it, and it’s done beautifully here w/the yeerks - whos the say they wouldn't have been fine in their pool swimming around; as esplin said, a lot of the yeerks were terrified of having a host, it was only from the andalites’ perspective that their lives were sad and pitiful, and the andalites showed them what the world could be like, and then said ‘no, you can’t travel the stars like we do, you have to stay here on your planet and do what we say.’
and then again, w/the hork bajir - dak talks about how, even though he drinks up the knowledge that aldrea gives him, in the end it might have been better to just have lived peacefully, not knowing what was in the sky or the Deep - as aldrea says: “It was too late for Dak: he knew that the stars were not flowers.”
plus the hork bajir having to go from a completely peaceful species who don’t even understand the concept of violence, to a bunch of soldiers fighting a war...oof
basically everyone in this story uses the hork bajir. the yeerks use them as hosts, the andalites use their planet as a convenient place to dump seerow and then take their sweet time coming to help, and the arn created them as means to stabilize the planet, but block them off from their society and refuse to help when the yeerks come
like, the arn modifying themselves to be un-infestable by the yeerks and then being enslaved for physical labor instead? oof guys. if they had teamed up w/the hork bajir resistance things might have gone better, but probably not
more on aldrea - throughout the story I was always thinking ‘how am I supposed to see her? as a good person, or as a bad person?’
as a POV character, especially a ‘good guy’ andalite, you just start off automatically thinking of her as a good person, but as the story goes on, she starts getting lost in revenge and begins using dak and the hork bajir, and you’re left wondering if this is a story about her slide into darkness, and then towards the end of the story her character development culminates in her making the decision to stay w/the hork bajir, and the be with dak, and that’s about when I went ‘ohhh right this is animorphs so every character is pretty much gonna be grey’
I feel like that moral grey-ness was on full display w/aldrea, and I really enjoyed that. I love so much when characters who are good do bad things, for good or bad reasons, especially in media like animorphs that’s aimed at kids. it’s so compelling.
oof, and the ending when aldrea convinces dak to mobilize the hork bajir and teach them violence...and dak asks her if she’s ever killed another andalite, and she’s horrified, and says of course she hasn’t, and he says that that’s what she’s asking him, and all the hork bajir, to do - to kill their own people, even if they are being controlled by the yeerks. biiiig oof. I love that dak can keep up w/aldrea and her andalite supremacy attitude - it seems that the non-andalite characters who get along best w/the andalites are the ones who wont take their bs
what else happened....oh my god how could I forget about alloran, and his quantum virus. oooof. I like how we find out about alloran in parallel to visser three, in the same backwards way - in animorphs he’s the tragic host of visser three, in TAC he’s the disgraced but still semi-respected war-prince who becomes the first ever andalite controller, and here he’s the guy who decides to commit some war crimes because, hey, we haven’t tried that yet
but yeah that was fucked up, I love it. I’ve said it before I think but I like that alloran isn’t some perfect martyr tragically taken by the yeerks - it’s a lot more compelling that he’s a very flawed person who was taken as a controller partially due to his own bloodthirstiness.
but yeah, the part where aldrea morphs alloran and ‘sneaks’ into that room was great. aldrea’s dedication to disposing of the virus is a great indicator of her character development - it really feels like the straw that broke the camels back w/re: to the andalites not being what she thought they were, w/their tardiness coming to help the hork bajir planet and the way her father was treated being the precursors to this realization. it all culminates nicely in aldrea saying ‘fuck this actually’ and nothlit-ing into a hork bajir.
and it’s really tragic but realistic that even though aldrea and dak end up seeing eye to eye at the end and getting together, the virus ends up being released anyways (and fails in its objective to stop the yeerks from using the hork bajir - the whole thing was p much a lose-lose situation oof), and aldrea and dak still die fighting a hopeless war
but then we have the free hork bajir on earth, including toby, who, like tobias, has andalite ancestry, but no DNA to show for it - I like that they have that connection as well as tobias being her namesake
so yeah I enjoyed that one and its many-layered themes
WOW this got long uuuuuhhh ok I think i’ll leave this one off here. at the time I’m actually finishing the writing and editing, I’m on book 35 lol so I have some backlogging to do. never fear, I have a lot to say....

Fire PD crossover
Warning: Kidnapping, forced drug use, assault and attempted murder twice.
Kelly checked his watch for the fifth time in the last thirty seconds. He had just gotten off shift and called you to see what your plans were for tonight after you got off work but you didn't answer. That's very odd for you to do. You always answered. So he knew something wasnt right and he headed to the police department.
"Hey Trudy, have you seen Y/N"? Kelly asked the front desk officer.
"Haven't seen her since she came in this morning around eight. Why"?
"I'm off work and I called her but she isn't picking up. Maybe the unit is out with a case".
"The unit hasn't left all day. They've been working on a case that seems to be leading them on a wild goose chase". Trudy informed him. Now he was starting to get worried.
"Can I talk to Voight about this"?
"Yeah, I'll buzz you up".
Kelly walked up the stairs and saw everyone acting normal no alarms going off that Y/N wasn't there.
"Hey Kelly, what can we do for you today"? Voight greeted.
"Y/N, haven't you seen that she's not here"? Kelly pointed to your desk.
"She went on a run for coffee".
"How long ago? She hasn't answered my calls for two hours now. I know it doesn't take that long to get coffee".
"Adam track her phone. She's probably stopping to get something else and her phone died". Voight suggested.
"This is not like my sister. She calls to say she's running late even when her phone dies. Something is wrong". Kelly followed Voight to Adams desk. He tracked your last location but after that it was gone. Like you vanished.
"See. She's nowhere on here. Something happened to her and you better find out and bring my sister home safely". Kelly yelled at Voight, storming out. Voight sighed.
"Jay, Erin go to the coffee shop and see what you can find. Adam send them the address". Voight gave out orders and he went to his office. One of his members were gone right from under his nose and no one saw or heard a thing.
Erin and Jay arrived at the coffee shop, they talked to the manager and asked about the surveillance tapes. What they saw wasn't what they wanted.
"She was taken". Erin stormed in the squad room showing pictures.
"A unknown Male grabbed her from behind as she was putting the coffee in her car and took her somewhere off camera".
"Where's her car"?
"Towed away".
"Get Adam the video see if you can find anything. You two find the car. The rest of you call hospitals. No one tells Kelly. I dont want him going on a rampage and get her killed". Voight order his team. They all kicked it into high gear.
After hours of phone calls to hospitals  around Chicago they came up empty handed. Jay and Erin found the car but nothing looked out of the ordinary. The tow truck driver said he didn't see anyone near the car when he came to pick it up. That it looked like some soccer mom's spa day went to long and she forgot the timer.
"So we have nothing"? Hank questioned his team.
"Her phone is either destroyed or dumped somewhere. I'm not getting a signal at all". Adam said looking up from his screen.
"Damn it. We need to figure this out and find her. Kelly has been ringing my phone off the hook for hours. He's wanting to go to the news with this but I'm afraid that if the kidnappers see this they'll kill her".
"Think who would want to take Y/N"?
"Check to see if anyone got out recently that Y/N put away and made threats. Let's find her". Hank told his him.
That was three days ago and Kelly let's say he was about to rain hell on Voight and his team. He found out that there was a video and he car was towed away. He was pissed that Voight lied and kept secrets from him. It was his sister missing not some random from the streets. He wanted answers.
Kelly parked his car and started walking to the front entrance of the police department as he was walking he passed by a alleyway. He's walked past it many time but something in him said go down and that's what he did.
He followed the trash littering the ground and under a pile of newspaper there was a foot.. Cold and white.
Kelly threw off the papers and saw it was his little sister laying on the ground. He checked your pulse and it was hardly there but it was there. You were covered in bruises. Your wrists had rope burns from being tied up. He took his jacket off and wrapped it around you picking you up and running to the station.
"Call an ambulance". Kelly screamed as he entered. Trudy rushed to see what happened. She stopped in her tracks as she saw it was you. "Call 911". She yelled to the officer at the desk.
A ambulance came and started working on you. Hooking up oxygen and a IV. Your pulse was weak and your blood pressure was low. They needed to get you to med and fast. Your life depends on it.
Kelly didn't go to the hospital right away, he had a bone to pick with Hank Voight. He stormed up stairs, he came to a desk and knocked off the computer. Causing a crash getting everyone's attention. Kelly had tears running down his face.
"I just found my sister in a fucking alley. If you would have done your fucking jobs this wouldn't have happened. If anything happens to her, I'm coming for you Voight". Kelly pointed to Voight.
"We know who it is".
"It's to late. Everything's been played out. You had your chance". Kelly gritted his teeth as he walked away going to the hospital.
When Kelly got there you were getting checked over by Will. The nurse said Will would be out as soon as he knew you were stable.
Kelly sat there on his phone calling everyone he knew in the police department that wasn't a fan of Voight and there were a few but he got the answer he wanted.
"Kelly"? Will came up to him.
"How is she? Is okay"?
"She's lucky you found her. Another night she would have been dead".
"What happened to her"? Kelly wanted to know but also he didn't want to hear the details.
"She has a few broken bones. A punctured lung. Hyperthermia. We ran some test and found drugs in her system. She's in bad shape but I see her making a complete recovery with the right support system".
"Anything else"?
"No. She's okay there". Kelly sighed a sigh of relief knowing that you was okay.
"Thanks, Will. Can I see her"?
"For a moment. We're trying to warm her up slowly so she's pretty out of it". Will lead Kelly to your room. You were hooked up to all sorts of machines. Your lips were blue and you didn't look good but you were a fighter and you would pull through.
"Can I get a second"?
"Yeah, I'll be outside if you need me". Will left leaving Kelly to sob. He held your hand. You were freezing.
"I'm going to make them pay. I'll rip their fucking throats out. Just get better, please. You can't leave me". Kelly kissed your forehead and left. He was on a mission of vengeance.
Kelly had the address in hand as he walked up to the house. A few guys sat on the porch as he went up the stairs.
"Is Romeo here"? He asked one of the guys.
"Who's asking"?
"James. My friend Mario said he could hook me up".
"Mario sent you"?
"Yeah, you want me to call him to verify ". Kelly went to pull out his phone.
"Nah, you cool". He opened the door and Kelly went inside. The house was filled with smells that Kelly only smelt when he had to deal with drug addicts. Cocaine, meth. You name it, it was probably there.
"Can I help you"? A voice spooked Kelly.
"Yeah. I came to get some coke. My boy Mario said you were the best". Kelly chuckled to cover up his nervousness.
"You came to the right place. Take a seat". The man pulled out a wooden box and put it on the coffee table for Kelly.
"Pick your sin". He laughed.
"Are you Romeo? Cause Mario said to deal with Romeo only".
"Yes, now where's my money"?
"I have it. Let me pick. I have a few lady friends coming over and they want some good shit". Romeo laughed as Kelly looked through the box.
"I know how that is. I had a woman a couple days ago. Cop. She loved to party. Couldn't get enough".
"Oh really"? Kelly tried to keep his anger under control.
"Yeah. Cute little Y/H/C. See we go way back. She put me away for awhile and I got her back. That the way I do it. You screw me, I'll screw you". Romeo slammed the box lid on Kelly.
"You know, you look a lot like the cops brother. She had a picture of them two together in her wallet". Romeo eyed Kelly.
"Only child. Mom's a CEO of a company  and dad's a lawyer".
"You sure"?
"You're right. I shouldn't lie, we just met. Dont want to get off on the wrong foot". Kelly reached in his waistband and brought out a metal baton. Cracking Romeo in the face with it. Romeo landed on the floor with a thud.
Kelly stepped over him. "I'm her brother and I'm the last person you'll ever see again". Kelly raised his arm again ready to strike but the door busted open and in came Voight and his team.
"Kelly, put the weapon down. I don't want to have to to shoot you". Hank warned pointing his gun at him.
"You need to leave and let me finish this. It doesn't concern you".
"It does. If you kill him I'll have to arrest you and I dont think you want Y/N to wake up with no one there by her side. So drop it".
Kelly was hesitant at first but he thought of you being alone, he knew he didn't want that. So he dropped his arm and walked off.
"Get out of here. No one will know you were here".
"Thanks". Kelly nodded and left. Voight and the team arrested Romeo and his crew. There was enough drugs to send them away for life not to mention the attempted murder of a cop, kidnapping and assault. They were looking at death row.
Kelly went back to the hospital and sat by your side. Since he left you were getting pinker and back to yourself. He watched as you opened your eyes and looked at him.
"Hey there sis".
"I'm sorry". You said with a tear running down your cheek.
"No need to be sorry. You're alive and well. Your here and getting help. That's all that matters. I'm with you every step of the way". Kelly squeezed your hand in supporting you.

Best in the Worst Way, Part 7
The Reader has been having a love affair with two Avengers and gets caught in a sticky situation. She’s suddenly faced with life decisions she’s not prepared for, including who to love, what she wants, and is this all worth it?
Tumblr media
“Let’s think lay down the facts,” you say, bracing your face on your elbows, critically eyeing both the boys.
The three of you sat down at your kitchen, you at the head of the table, and the boys on either side of you.
Steve looked down sheepishly, his eyes still shinning and red. Bucky looked ready to strangle him.
“You’re done being a dick?” You asked Steve.
He nodded.
“Despite everything you put us through in the last couple weeks, and begging me to get an abortion, you want to be a father?”
He looked you in the eye, reaching for your hand.
You snatched it away from him.
He looked hurt, but said, “If you’ll have me, I’d do anything to be part of their lives.”
“Come on,” Bucky rolled his eyes.
After he highjacked your appointment and started bawling his eyes out, Bucky tried to usher him out of the room. It turned into a screaming war in the hallway. Doctor Laurence gave you a speech about being in a stressful environment and needing to stay calm. It did nothing for your nerves.
The three of you yelled at each other the entire car ride home.
Bucky was still very upset, as were you, but screaming about it wasn’t getting you anywhere.
So the three of you sat, hot tea and tear stained eyes staring each other down. Your hearts twisting and wrenching in your chests with hurt and uncertainty.
The only way to go was forward, and none of you knew how.
You wanted to take Bucky into the next room and talk, see how he was feeling, but it had always been the three of you. It only seemed right to talk through this together.
“No,” you pointed a finger at Bucky. “We said no sarcasm, snide comments, or talking out of turn.”
Bucky’s hands clenched into fists, “Fine.”
You looked back at Steve. You wanted to strangle him, honestly.
“Why?” You demanded.
He looked down at his hands in his lap, “I love the two of you more than anything. And I thought I didn’t want more, but seeing them...they were never real to me before. And thinking I’d lost you when Natasha called...”
You ground your teeth. Natash was a fucking liar. She meant well, you knew that.
“I feel,” Bucky started, you turned to him in surprise, “that if you really loved us, you wouldn’t have left us in the first place.”
Steve ran a hand through his hair, “I was scared, Buck. I’m still terrified. But I’ve decided I want to try it, for you two, for them.”
You felt your emotions coming up to the surface and you tried to swallow them down, but pregnancy was making it hard.
“I feel the same way as Bucky,” you declared. “You’re allowed to feel scared, but you shouldn’t have left for weeks and then asked me to choose between you and Bucky, and you and our kids.”
Steve nodded, tears forming in his eyes again. You wiped your own away, swallowing the lump in your throat.
Bucky reached for you, and you gripped his hand with a vice grip. He had tears running freely down his face.
“Steve,” your voice broke. You covered your mouth with your hand as a shattering sob ripped through your body.
Bucky got up and stood behind you, enveloping you in a hug from behind. You leaned into him for comfort, but you just felt so empty.
This was supposed to be such a happy day. Seeing your babies for the first time, how had it come to this?
“I’m sorry,” Steve murmured. You watched through blurry eyes as he desperately wiped his own eyes. “I am so so sorry. I never wanted to cause you this much pain.”
“Then you shouldn’t have left,” Bucky’s voice was a growl and you didn’t need to see him to know he was giving Steve a death stare.
He nodded, “I want to repair what I’ve done. Please give me a second chance.”
Bucky didn’t answer. You knew his heart was shattering just as much as yours. He loved Steve just as desperately, just as much as you. He had been dreaming about Steve saying these words just like you had.
Because you both loved him even though he’d walked away.
“You can be part of their lives,” you managed. “But not ours. Not yet. I don’t want you in my home or making decisions for our kids. We can discuss what this will look like later.”
Steve looked shellshocked.
Bucky’s arms tightened around you, “She’s right.”
Steve swallowed hard, “Okay. I guess I’ll go.”
With that, he left.
“You could have told him to fuck off,” Bucky sat back down beside you.
You nodded wiping your tears and pulling yourself together, looking at the door that Steve had just walked out of. “Yeah, but we have a big problem.”
“What?”
“Paternity,” you looked Bucky in the eyes. “If they’re his kids or one of them is his, and I tell him to fuck off, we could be in a legal pickle when the kids are born and he claims we’re keeping his kids from him.”
He frowned, “What are you saying?”
You squared your jaw, “I don’t know if I want him back at all. But I think we need to play nice until the kids are born, and we know their paternity. And we might need to consult with a lawyer before that.”
———
Monday morning, nearing the end of your 11th week of pregnancy, you walked into work at 9am. It was two hours later than you were used to and you were loving it.
Bucky said you were positively glowing.
You swore when you stood in front of a mirror you could see a bump, Bucky said it wasn’t quite big enough to be noticeable.
You and Bucky were chatting about the news when you walked into the building and you were greeted by Steve.
“Good morning!” He greeted, cheerfully.
You stopped dead, frowning. What was he doing here?
He raised his hands slightly, which held two cups of take out coffee, “I wanted to bring you guys coffee, but you are much later getting to work than you normally are and they’re cold.”
You looked at Bucky quizzically, to make sure he was seeing this too. He stood there rigidly, his mouth in a tight line. You turned to Steve and said, “I’m taking it easy, I start at nine now. Plus I can’t have more than one cup of coffee and I’ve had my fill for the day.”
Steve’s face fell, “Oh, okay.”
“We’ll see you later, Steve,” you patted him on the shoulder and walked past him. Immediately, you gripped Bucky by the arm and whispered, “Was he sitting there for two hours?!”
He shrugged, “I bet you fifty bucks he was.”
“What the actual fuck.”
That wasn’t the only surprise that day. You walked into your office, turned on the lights and dropped your bag in shock.
It was full of roses.
Not just a couple bouquets, but every surface conceivable was covered. And if it wasn’t covered in roses, it was roses pedals.
“Oh my dear lord, no.”
This was too much and so not okay.
You called Bucky immediately. “You should see what he did to my office.”
“Well,” Bucky said from the other end, “if it looks anything like my locker, I can image.”
You frowned, “Roses?”
“Yep.”
You rolled your eyes, sitting behind your desk, realizing there was literally no room on it. “Does he think this makes up for anything? That’s it magically fixes what he did?”
Bucky sighed, “I think he does.”
Groaning you said, “Hey Friday?”
“Yes Ms. Y/n?” The voice in the ceiling asked.
“Could you find me a women’s shelter or a hospital that will take flower donations?”
———
An hour later, you were packing up the last truck and walking about to your office. So much for a productive morning.
You kept a single, simple bouquet on your desk and that was it. To play nice with Steve so he couldn’t accuse you of throwing out his gift.
The guys from the hospital had died laughing when they came in and saw your office. They seriously didn’t believe you over the phone when you said your office was full of roses.
The whole time they teased you, “so what did he do?”
You just scowled.
It put you into a very poor mood and you wanted a coffee so bad. And it was only ten. You dropped your head into your hands and groaned before opening your email.
At 1, you were surprised by Steve knocking on your door. Trying your very best not to visibly sigh, you waved him in.
“Hey,” he said, walking towards you with a takeout cup. “What’d you do with the flowers?”
You pursed your lips, folding your hands in front of you, “Steve, hun, I really really don’t want you to take this the wrong way, but that was a lot of flowers. Like a lot. I donated most of them.” You motioned at the vase on your desk.
He ran a hand through his hair, “Right, right, right. You know, I thought it was a lot. And then she offered me a deal on rose pedals. She as in the girl from the flower shop, Jenna I think. She said it was part of some package she offered. They were basically free.”
You blinked at his little rant. You twisted your pen, “Are you ok?”
He nodded, “Yeah yeah. I’m just,” he took a deep breath, “I want to fix this y/n. I know I’m probably not doing a great job but I’m trying.”
You didn’t let yourself feel your heart pang at his words. You just squared your jaw.
“Anyways,” he said, “I know that this is when you get a caffeine crash and you like to have a cup of coffee but you can’t. So I brought you a tea, decaf, but I thought the placebo and having something in a stupid takeout cup might help.” He placed the cup in front of you.
Slightly shocked at his attention to detail, you gingerly took the cup and said, “Thank you.”
He nodded, “I’ll leave you be.”
You sipped your tea and tried not to moan in satisfaction. This would do but it didn’t make up for anything.
———
Bucky came to your office after 5 and signaled you that it was time to go.
You stood, groaning at your slightly swollen feet. Flats would be worn tomorrow.
You walked out of your office, Bucky taking your bag from you as he pecked your lips.
“Good day?” He asked.
You nodded, “Steve brought me a tea at lunch. Did you see him?”
Bucky frowned at that, “Not once.”
You wiggled your eyebrows at him, “You jealous, Barnes?”
He wrapped his free arm around you and murmured in your ear, “Is Steve going to make your toes curl tonight? Because I have plans for you tonight, baby, that are going to make you forget him.”
You smirked, already shiver slightly at his husky tone and then he nipped at your ear and you nearly took him right there. Fuck these hormones were making you crazy.
But then Steve was waiting for you at the exit.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Bucky asked so low only you heard.
“Hey guys,” he greeted. “Any big plans tonight?”
Bucky’s grip tightened around you protectively, “No.”
You pinched him, hard, to remind him to play nice.
“I think we’re going to make dinner and finish Love is Blind, have you seen it?” You smiled politely.
Steve shook his head, “Is it any good?”
“We love it, if it were up to Buck we’d have finished it the day we started. He kept hitting the Next Episode button,” you weren’t sure why you were still talking.
Bucky seemed to be hiding behind you now. He definitely didn’t want to admit loving the show to Steve, but you’d caught him and Bruce gushing about it the other day.
“Anywho,” you said, “We should be going.”
“Yeah, of course,” Steve stepped out of your way.
You squeezed his shoulder as you passed, “Have a good night, Steve.”
Bucky didn’t say a word. Not to Steve. And not about the encounter.
———
The following two weeks followed in the same pattern.
You showed up at nine, Steve was waiting to say good morning. He brought Bucky coffee the first couple of days, which Bucky plainly refused.
At 1, Steve brought you a tea and asked how you were doing. He usually stayed for all of five minutes, which you appreciated.
At 5, Bucky knocked on your door and you left. Steve asked if you had any evening plans and you made small talk as Bucky scowled at him from behind you.
From what you’d heard, Steve had made no move to contact Bucky outside of those two interactions. You knew for a fact it was driving Bucky crazy, either from jealousy or rage. Maybe both.
You didn’t care either way, as long as Steve saw you as the good guy and wouldn’t make any claims against your kids once they were born.
The second Friday, you walked into work and smiled at Steve and as you walked by, you turned and said, “Oh yeah, before I forget Steve, I have an ultrasound today at 2 if you want to come.”
He looked surprised, “So soon? Is everything ok?”
You nodded, “Yeah, because of their DNA the doctor wants to keep a very close eye the entire pregnancy.”
No to mention you were supposed to call the moment you felt something was wrong/you had any weird symptoms.
Stave smiled brightly, “I’ll be there.”
Once you’d left, Bucky’s grip tightened on your arm and he hissed, “Seriously?!”
You glared at him, “We talked about this, Buck. We’re playing nice until we know if he’s a father or not. Which means, he has to have the option to go to these things, trust me I’m not happy either.”
Especially considering how the last ultrasound had gone, you were already on edge and verging on dread. This really should be happy but you weren’t.
But everything went according to plan and you went home that night with Bucky, giggling as you admired your children.
That night, you laid in bed with a good book and looked up as Bucky walked in and smiled at you. You couldn’t help the butterflies in your stomach at that stupid smile.
“You know,” Bucky said, unbuttoning his shirt and tossing it in the bin. “The babies are the size of lemons.”
You smirked, “Oh, yeah? Where’d you learn that?”
“Baby books,” he dropped his pants and crawled into bed beside you. You marked your page and put away your book as Bucky’s hand slid up your belly, lifting your shirt. “You’re starting to show.”
You looked down and smiled lovingly at your belly. It wasn’t obvious, but it was there. You just looked bloated honestly, but you didn’t say that.
Not as Bucky stroke your belly and looked at it adoringly. Not as he leaned forward to press two small kisses, each where the doctor said your children were.
“I can’t wait to meet you,” he whispered. “You are going to be so loved and safe.” He pressed another kiss. “Always safe, I promise. Your big scary dad will make sure of it.”
You ran your fingers through his hair, “They’re going to think you’re the coolest. They won’t even think to be afraid of you.”
He propped his head on his arm and looked at you quizzically.
You smiled sadly, “My dad was six foot five. Big guy, all muscle and tattoos. I just saw him as the guy who watched princess movies with me and took me on walks through the Hundred Acre Woods, which was just really the forest by my house.”
He leaned over and kissed your forehead. “You don’t talk about your parents a lot.”
You shrug, “I’m good really. It’s been a really long time since they’ve been gone. I was alone for a long time but my family is growing.” You placed your hand on top of his, still on your belly. “I love you.”
He smiled. You did say that very often either. “I love you too.”
He pressed on more kiss to your belly before layning back in the pillows. “Do I need to set an alarm for tomorrow? Are you working?”
You thought for a moment and shook your head, “I’ll take the weekend off.”
Bucky’s eyebrows rose to his hairline. “You? Weekend? Never!”
You rolled your eyes, “Only because we didn’t do any laundry this week and we desperately need to catch up!” You didn’t mention that was typically Steve’s job. “Besides, I’m expecting you to keep me up all night.”
His smirk grew somehow. “Is that so?”
You bit your lip, “These hormones. I’ve been having crazy day dreams about you all day.”
He shifted so he was straddling you and kissed up your neck. The pulled at your ear lobe and your toes curled. And then he growled on your ear, “Tell me.”
———
Saturday and Sunday flew by. When Monday rolled around, you tried not to fight against Bucky as he urged you to get out of bed.
You dressed as Bucky snuck kisses. One on your shoulder as you put your bra on. Another on your neck as you put makeup on. Several on your cheeks as he made breakfast.
You felt so incredibly happy and lucky in those moments. But it had to come to an end as you walked into work.
When you saw Steve, Bucky turned ice cold beside you. You could feel his disdain as you made small talk in the lobby.
You joked with Steve about some headline and he told you he’s started watching Love is Blind. You laughed and told him to tell you his favourite couple when they got the resort.
Mundane would be the only way to describe the interaction. Mundane and utterly forgettable.
As soon as Steve was out of sight, Bucky said, “He’s trying to win you back.”
You rolled your eyes, “I know Buck. I have eyes. But I promise. I’ve chosen you, and you don’t have anything to worry about.” You pecked his lips as you went separate ways, not before quickly squeezing his ass.
He looked back, slightly shocked before smirking.
“Besides,” you said, “he’s really not even trying that hard.”
Bucky laughed and went to the gym. You walked into your office and put away your things before sitting down.
You frowned as you noticed a wrapped box on your desk. Perfectly packaged and even with a bright red bow.
You reached for it and stopped. Should you open it? There wasn’t a note, so it could be anything for anyone. But really, there was a short list of plausible people responsible.
You knew there was a protocol for unmarked boxes but you opened it anyways. You immediately dropped it when you saw the content.
“Oh for fuck’s sake.”
Inside was a framed picture from your ultrasound with a handwritten message in silver sharpie across the glass that read: Love Steve.

The doors burst open, making the people in the room look up, a look of pity immediately falling on their faces, making them avert their eyes. The sturdy hero was frantic, his hair was a mess and he’d never looked so terrified before.
“Wh-where is sh-she?!” He demanded, making his best friend, Bakugou, run to him. “Whe-where is she?!”
“Stop! Calm down!” Bakugou yelled back, trying to hold back an extremely furious and panicked Eijirou. “They just arrested her!” Eijirou’s vermillion eyes met Bakugou’s, and almost immediately, his best friend could see the fear surging through his eyes.
“Wh-why? Why d-do they ha-have her?”
“Come on.” Bakugou took Kirishima to a seat in the waiting room of the police station. They needed privacy and even Bakugou was angry at all the nosy people looking at them. “Look, breathe ok?” Eijirou nodded, clenching his fists to contain his anger. “They just brought her in. I was with them. I was just at your house and they broke in. They kept screaming about having an arrest warrant, that she was a villain, everything. They took her down and wouldn’t even let me near here.”
“Th-that’s n-n-not possible. (f/n)- MY (f/n)’s not a villain. She’s n-”
“Hey, I know. I know. They have the wrong girl, I know it.” Bakugou said, sighing and rubbing his face with his hands. “They haven’t let me see her yet, no doubt they won’t let you see her either.” Eijirou’s hands wrapped around the arms of the chair, clenching it so hard that his knuckles turned white.
“I-I sh-should’ve been there,” Eijirou practically growled. “I should’ve been there with her. Wh-why do they think it’s her? (f/n) can’t be a villain. Sh-she’s not.”
**
“Stop lying, (v/n)!” The detective yelled, finally frustrated with her games.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! Where is my husband?! Let me see him!” She exclaimed, tugging at the cuffs on her wrists that kept her bound to the table. “LET ME SEE MY HUSBAND!” The girl screamed and slammed her hands on the table. The tears pooled around her eyes and she was shaking.
She was just enjoying some tea with Bakugou, having a night of catching up when they’d broken down her door. The police officers flooded her house like water would on a ship. They kept screaming about how they had a warrant, demanding she gets on the ground. Bakugou wasn’t able to help her because as he tried to retaliate, they shoved a warrant in his face. Not even a pro hero could stop that. So, all he did was instruct (f/n) to keep her mouth shut until he got her a lawyer.
The detective threw a folder in front of her, with numerous faces of people and items such as expensive paintings, artifacts, and relics.
“You stole these and killed them, right?” (f/n) glared up at the detective.
“Where is my husband?”
“You look at these pictures!” He screamed at her, making her (e/c) orbs fall to the pictures of multiple people, families, even children. “We know, (v/n). We know what you did and what you stole. Just confess already! Now you just look like an idiot.”
Almost immediately, (f/n)’s demeanor changed. She went from a scared, little wife of a pro hero, to a notorious villain who had both stolen both lives and money.
“Fine,” Sighing and leaning back in the chair, (f/n) rolled her pretty (e/c) eyes at the detective. “Wow, you finally managed to find me. I salute you, even my dumbass husband had no idea. Or any of his stupid friends.”
“Don’t talk about Red Riot like that!” The detective defended, making (f/n) laugh.
“Oh, what do you care? I bet he’s torn apart out there, crying for me. You got me locked up in here-”
“Stop trying to change the subject! Where is the painting, (v/n)?” She rolled her eyes again and scoffed at him.
“Like I’ll tell you.” The detective growled, standing up and leaving the room. (f/n) smirked at his reaction and looked at the two-way mirror. “Please tell me he’s back there. That’ll be hilarious.” The door opened and Eijirou entered the room.
“B-Baby!” He exclaimed, desperately trying to hold back the tears. “Are you ok?!” He ran to her, taking her face into his hands and pressing repeated kisses on her cheeks.
“S-stop! HEY!” She yelled, making him pause and look at her. “Get off.”
“O-oh… s-sorry.” He hadn’t even thought about how scared and panicked she must’ve been. But when he looked into her eyes… he didn’t see an ounce of fear. Only that she was annoyed.
“Dammit, this is a real pickle, huh?” She mumbled, tugging at the cuffs.
“It’ll be ok, baby!” He said, reassuring her with his weak smile. “I’ll fix it! They’ve got the wrong person and I know-”
“Don’t be an idiot, Eijirou.” She said, looking up at him. This time, when he looked into her eyes, he saw her. (V/n). But he didn’t want to believe it! They’d been married for a happy four years, she was innocent… right?
“W-what’s going on? What happened? Why are they saying these things about you?”
“Because they’re true, dumbass. Why else?”
“Wh-what?” Eijiro felt the overwhelming dread building up and the weak dam that was holding his emotions back was slowly starting to crack. He wasn’t even sure he knew how to breathe anymore. Every second he spent looking into her cold, amused eyes, the more he felt his heart break. His reality was starting to fall apart, everything he believed, everything he wanted… it was all crashing down. The worst part was that (f/n) sat there, with that taunting smile on her face.
(f/n) didn’t care for the man that she vowed to love until the end of their time. She didn’t care for the man that she swore her heart to. She didn’t care for the man she said she was so madly infatuated with.
He knew.
“Y-you’re… (v-v/n)…”
“A pleasure to meet you, Red Riot.”
“Pl-please t-tell me th-this is just some d-dumb joke.” He got on his knees, next to her chair. “P-please b-baby,” His voice cracked and (f/n) could see just how desperate he was. He needed something- anything- to keep himself together. He was falling apart, breaking down into little pieces and she didn’t fucking care. “Y-you’re s-still my (f-f/n), r-right?”
“I was never yours to begin with, Red Riot.” That was it. He broke. The dam that held back his emotions was obliterated and everything hit him like a truck. (f/n) Kirishima was (v/n). She had always been (v/n), he was just too infatuated with her to see it. Clearly, it was his downfall.
As he cried on his knees, inches away from his wife, the villain ignored him, treating him as if he was a nuisance. She didn’t look at him, she didn’t speak to him, she didn’t even acknowledge him. She wasn’t his wife…
This wasn’t his (f/n).
