If this tropical storm becomes a hurricane and smacks into the southern and southeastern US, be prepared for angst about the blending of the pandemic with a natural disaster. Additionally, a disturbance is building up in the Gulf of Mexico, and if it turns into a tropical storm (or worse), it is projected to smack into Texas. Same issue: pandemic and storm. Shove people together in shelters and then fill in the blanks.....trouble.
Excerpt from this New York Times story:
Tropical Storm Gonzalo is expected to strengthen into the first hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic season as early as Thursday, forecasters said.
The system, which became a tropical storm on Wednesday, was over the central Atlantic and moving west at 14 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph at 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Hurricane watches were issued for Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The storm is expected to move west to northwest and into the eastern Caribbean early next week.
Dennis Feltgen, a meteorologist and spokesman for the National Hurricane Center in Miami, said it was too early to speculate on the storm’s potential impact on the United States.
“It’s way too far out,’’ he said on Thursday. “Right now, our focus is on the Windward Islands.” The group of islands, including Saint Lucia and Grenada, are located in the southern Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean.
Mr. Feltgen described Gonzalo as a “very small storm with “tropical force winds extending only 35 miles from the center.”
The National Hurricane Center was also monitoring an eighth system brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. The tropical depression, which has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, was moving west and northwest at 9 mph toward Texas.
“It will likely strengthen, but this will be slow to occur at first,” Levin Cowan, a meteorologist with the hurricane research division of the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, said on Twitter on Thursday.
The system was expected to bring heavy rains to portions of Louisiana and South Texas this weekend. If it reaches maximum sustained winds of 39 mph, it will become tropical storm Hanna.
Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas urged residents “to remain vigilant and closely monitor weather conditions as a tropical disturbance in the Gulf is expected to impact parts of Texas this weekend.”

On today’s news! After a couple of thunderstorms, the heat still remains. Let me remind you that exposure to extreme heat can cause exhaustion, cramps, strokes, and even death so remember to keep yourself hydrated, under the shade, and if possible in an air-conditioned room. So far, the projection of the still tropical storm Gonzalo is expected to rub the Dominican Republic’s belly, passing by the south. But like all of us, the storm can always change its course. Wish I could say the same about hurricane Douglas, which is straightening in the Pacific and could reach Hawaii by Sunday. Are you a fan of the story behind the creation of the world? Scientifically, of course. Well, there is a 3D model of the universe created by more than a hundred astrophysicists. Not only for our knowledge but because they find a troublesome gap in the middle 11 billion years. Cosmology, do your thing. You probably heard or seen her: Qhamar Gul, a teenage girl (15) fought against Taliban militants who murdered their parents. She is seen posing with an AK-47 assault rifle. Girl, you’ve got more than guts. From my list of disliked people we add another one: Daniel Ortega (who has a disturbing resemblance with Danilo ‘Vico’ Medina), says Nicaragua has the virus under better control than ‘capitalist’ countries. Nicaragua’s president relies heavily on the hardworking spirit of the Nicaraguan,... who have not stopped producing. I would like to raise my hand and support the local epidemiologists who disagree. You a Starbucks slave, like most of us coffee-holics? Well, there will be some changes on the app, like more options to pay and earn stars in the app as a Reward Member. Using a Starbucks Card you get two stars. Now you will have the option to pay with any method you want but will only get one star per dollar. Talking about rewards, in London, a train station employee stopped a bike thief and then stayed 4 hours after work to wait for the owner. Abdul El-Gayar you are a bike-saver. Talking about people helping people, a woman in Florida had a car crash but luckily someone pulled over to help her. It was no other than Shaquille O'Neal. That is nice, but you know what is worth more than a 3-pointer? Wearing a mask, protecting the environment, and listening to Bill Nye explaining why racism makes no sense. Now please go and laugh at a tortoise at San Antonio Zoo trying to beat the heat while staying in front of a streaming faucet. Don’t mind me if I do too. Happy Revolution Day, Egypt. Today is Thursday, July 23, 2020. Day unknown of quarantine.

Squiggles, if you've see the wip sneak peak if v8 don't despair just yet. Look at Oscar, his clothes are not torn or covered in dirt and grime. Plus, looking at the environment, there's no Salem clouds, and the city looks fine, not a single burnt thing or sign of the riots. People are saying this may be a flash back. My Favorite idea being this is yang reminiscing on Oscar after she believes he's dead.
Hiya Key! Wait…what? There’s a WIP for V8?
To tell you the truth m’friend, I didn’t know that a WIP was released. My country is currently on storm watch since Tropical Storm Gonzalo was carded to hit us so I’ve been offline on Tumblr until now. As always, thank you once again for keeping me informed for when RT decides to unceremoniously drop V8 content on the FNDM to watch us all implode on ourselves XD
Anyways, that being said, I looked up the WIP you were talking about. Found the clip on YT. As for my thoughts about it…well…I just have one thing to say to the CRWBY Writers in respect to this. Don’t. DO NOT PLAY WITH MY PINING HEART! You did this to me in V6 and I hope they are not doing another V6CH9 fake-out. If this scene is implying what I think it’s implying then I REALLY hope it delivers.
Key…Key…do you know what this means? Key, there is HOPE! I didn’t want to believe. I still don’t want to believe but…there is a crumb of hope! This scene featured a potential future bonding moment…with Oscar and YANG, Key! Sure Jaune and Ren are there too but…but…it more felt like a moment between Oscar and Yang since they were the two characters who were more focused on in the clip; at least to me.
In that regards, I do agree with your point and theory. I do think it’s a flashback. Definitely. I mean it has to be to since, as you rightfully mentioned; this moment looks more like a light hearted one during a less intense time. I highly doubt our heroes would just be riding idly through the streets of Mantle when Salem is up in the air on her giant Monstro in the sky looking to attack Atlas. So I definitely do think it is Yang having a memory here.
If I had to guess, perhaps it’s a moment where the group are holding a sort of small “funeral” for Oscar after learning of his ‘death’ and as a way to help lighten the mood, everyone decides to share stories of special moments they had with Oscar and this is potentially Yang’s. I REALLLLY hope this is the case because this is what I wanted.
This is what I’ve wanted sinceV6. Shoot, this is what I wanted V6CH9 to be. After Oscar went missing, one of my aspirations was to see a potential Oscar-worthy episode of those closest to Oscar---mainly RNJR---swapping moments they personally shared with Oscar.
If this is what this moment is implying then I am down for it, of course. I’m especially excited to see what Ruby’s special memory with Oscar will be; granted that she’ll even give one since I’m expecting Ruby to be all indifferent and dodgy surrounding Oscar’s death since it’ll probably remind her of her mom’s death. I definitely want to see Ruby’s reaction to Oscar’s ‘death’ most of all.
Besides if they are sharing this WIP for next season, chances are that this scene with Yang, Oscar, Jaune and Ren is either taken from the very first episode of V8 or will be featured at some point during the first few episodes of the season since that’s how it usually goes, correct? Sneak peaks and trailer footage are generally from episode one and/or the first few episodes of the volume.
I’m hoping it’s from the second episode at least. But…I’m not sure since the first previews are generally from the first episode so…who knows? Unless they’re going to have the group hear about Oscar’s death and reminisce about their time with him all in Chapter 1? That too is a possibility but who knows?
Overall, Key…KEY I’M SO HAPPY! That scene made me smile big. We’re going to see Oscar bond with Yang! Yang bonding with her potential future brother (in law) is something my Rosegardening Pinehead shipping heart has dreamt about but never thought we’d get in the canon yet…here it is…kind of?
Then again, I don’t want to jump the gun either and get too excited. Since well…these writers have done this to me before. I haven’t forgotten V6CH9. They’ve baited me before with a potential Oscar-centric episode with the group showing how much they really cared about him and they NEVER properly delivered on that.
What I’m basically saying here m’friend is why I’m pleased with what I’m seeing, I’m also very, very cautious. I don’t want to get too excited about this only for it to not be what we’d hope it would be y’know what I mean?
Nevertheless, the least I can say is whatever happens for the first few episodes of V8---overall I’m excited to see the rest of this moment with Oscar and Yang with Jaune and Ren. Not gonna lie. I will be holding these Writers to this scene until the episode with this footage premieres.
Again, I REALLLY hope it’s a flashback.
What if…it’s a case where V8 starts off with the audience not knowing of Oscar’s fate down in Mantle for like the first few episodes? Imagine if…for the first few episodes of V8, the only time we see Oscar is in the flashback of memories his friends are having of him while they all deal with his “death” in their own way and the story doesn’t cut to Oscar’s side until…like I dunno, CH4 or something?
It’s only a minor hunch but who knows? I guess we’ll see. Either way, colour me intrigued and excited for the rest of that potential Oscar and Yang bonding memory---at least I hope it’s a memory.

Donald Trump wants a full blown 2020 Republican convention where party supplicants can publicly display their fealty to him.
Trump even moved the venue for the gathering from Charlotte, North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida after the pro-science governor of North Carolina refused to waive restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
However COVID-19 has been recently surging in Florida thanks to the wimpy response to the pandemic by the state’s GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis. So a Republican convention in Jacksonville is in serious doubt.
If the pandemic doesn’t kill the convention, the Atlantic hurricane season just might.
August and September are prime months for hurricanes and Florida’s coasts represent some of the most hurricane prone geography in the US. And a direct hit isn’t necessary to create a disruption to a city.
In the article above, Dr. Jeff Masters points out that the chances of a tropical cyclone disrupting the convention in Jacksonville in late August are theoretically 2%. However the article was written before we broke the previous record for number of named storms this early in the season. Tropical Storm Gonzalo will be the 7th named storm in what is only the 8th week of the 2020 season. In such an abnormally busy season the 2% figure should be revised upward.
Dr. Masters points out that the 2012 Republican convention in Tampa was shortened by one day due to Tropical Storm Isaac. In case you’ve forgotten, that was the convention where Clint Eastwood spoke to an empty chair for 11 minutes.
The 2008 Republican convention was also impacted by tropical weather. The first day of the convention was cut to 2.5 hours from 7 hours because of Hurricane Gustav. St. Paul, the location of the convention, was nowhere near the path of Gustav. But after President George W. Bush’s mishandling of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 the GOP didn’t want to risk looking tone deaf.
So tropical cyclones apparently have it in for Republicans. Perhaps they should take climate change seriously instead of trying to use Sharpie markers to alter the course of hurricanes.

(CNS): Tropical Storm Gonzalo formed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday morning and is the earliest named seventh tropical storm of any Atlantic hurricane season. As of 9am, the storm was around 1,285 miles east of the Southern Windward Islands headed west-northwest at around 12mph, with winds of around 45mph. Both the intensity and speed are expected to increase…

On today’s news! The weather is super hot, the sun is striking straight on my left eye and is practically “...burnin' through the sky, yeah. Two hundred degrees. That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit. I'm traveling at the speed of light. I wanna make a supersonic man/woman out of you” in other words, nothing is stopping us now from melting. Shake your palm trees! The tropics are heating up even more. The new storm that is rising the probability of hitting the Caribbean Islands, is no other than Gonzalo. This is going to be something to laugh at if you were involved in the Dominican Republic elections period. Puppet-Zalo Castidiot is now a tropical storm with the imminent formation and behind it comes another disturbance. In other words, there is a soon to be Gonzalo and other possibilities of support, but this time is not political. The world is not as we used to know it, but that does not mean creativity is far from gone. There is a new mask that allows people to drink without taking it off or exposing their mouth. Adjustable RedeeMask, one-size-fits-most and comes with adjustable ear straps. Available to order online for 24.99 without the punch in the gut of taxes. Or instead, you could just fold two regular masks, put them on, eat and drink freely while at the same time looking like a bird with a flawless beak. Continuing the line of nature, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake strikes off the coast of Alaska in the early morning, luckily all tsunami warnings and advisories were canceled. The days of the curfew are back in the Dominican Republic and guess what; the first day generated traffic chaos and many arrests. And according to some tropical logic, you cannot get infected in beaches but you could in pools and rivers. That is coconuts. So far, you can still travel there but Californians and/or Floridians (and other possible epicenter), please don’t do it. Pakistan! Just met the United Nations climate goals one decade before the deadline in continuation of the green economic legacy. Could we PLEASE follow trends like this? If you are by some dumb luck, back in lockdown mesmerize yourself with Garip Ay, Turkish artist that paints designs on the surface of the water. Not an easy job, but the results are marvelous. Happy Pi Approximation Day. Today is Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Day unknown of quarantine.
