I can only take credit for Renarin's outfit because I mostly took Rlain's design from his official depiction. I did make a few small changes though to make it more in line with what I envisioned before and how I think it would be more comfortable for him. I might take more adjustments in the future! (It's unlikely this will be the last time I draw him, lol)

Regarding Renarin, the outfit shouldn't be considered a completely authentic representation of traditional singer attire. But I thought it would make sense if he wore it slightly differently as he doesn't have the same stature as a singer. The type of pants and shoes, for example, are probably something that wouldn't work the same way for a singer.

can we as a fandom stop promoting lamaery yet? considering they use josh brolin as a stand in for dalinar in their art and some other White for adolin? often giving the latter yellowface? like? it's SO disheartening to keep seeing such blatant whitewashing in the fandom.

.....wait on god i couldve sworn i saw a post of theirs talking about using like an old photograph of a native american as a dalinar reference? either way it IS disheartening seeing whitewashing in SA art in general which there is.....a lot of recently. like a lot. even when artists try to draw alethi with darker skintones sometimes the coloring/undertones veer racist. and this bit isnt specifically abt lamaery i think some of their stuff and esp their backgrounds are amazing but: it should absolutely be said that using a white person as a face reference (obviously not as a positional ref or anything) and then just darkening the skin is not great. anon im not sure if that’s what you meant by yellowface but well....

maybe its cause there’s a lot of new stormlight readers who maybe weren’t around for the first round of ‘shallan isn’t white’ discourse (which is STILL going on somehow) but considering that stormlight has like....almost an entirely nonwhite cast i feel like there’s a lot of little things that slip through the cracks with art. kaladin is almost always darker skinned than adolin or other alethi lighteyes, epicanthal folds are sometimes ignored for everyone but shallan now (weird byproduct of discourse????), sometimes people straight up look orange, what ‘tan’ means to white people seems to be drastically different to what it means to me........ there are longstanding artistic tropes that look racist and we might not see them so clearly because the whole cast is not white. basically there’s a lot that we all need to be mindful of.
