King of Soca Machel Montano made history again at NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. The 20-minute segment featured some of his biggest hit songs like "One More Time", "Fast Wine" and "Like Ah Boss" whilst backed by his stellar band of musicians.

Hello do you like Indie music from other countries?
Then let me introduce you to my favorite band from my country! Sint James! (and no that's not a typo)
I've actually been to one of their shows and it was one of the best experiences of my life! They were really nice and so excited to talk to everyone (they also gave everyone stickers just for coming to the show)
(here is a clip I took at that show! Turn on the sound to hear a bit of their music live!)
Their music has this lovely dreamy indie pop/rock vibe to it and it pairs beautifully with the Trini accent of the vocals (Dimitri the guy playing in the clip is the main vocalist)
Their newest song Moon just came out last Friday so I thought it would be a great time to recommend them!
So if you like Indie music, entirely poc bands, music from countries other that the US, or just want an obscure band that you can be certain nobody else knows about check them out!!
(They're on YouTube and Spotify! And also have a very funny/chaotic TikTok)
If you're still on the fence here's some pics of them in bisexual lightning to convince you (tbh I just have a lot of nice pics from their show I wanna show off lol)

(I'm not in any way affiliated with them I just really like their music and think it would be really cool if more people knew about them, especially internationally!)

Yesterday I thought I was experiencing Trini Carnival Part 2! Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a few foreign tunes spliced in but on Grand Kadooment day we should have been enjoying 100-% Bajan music on the road. We owe our artists that much respect!!! Having said that from today I know we will hear on our airwaves a lot of BAJAN music that was released during the Crop Over season which never received any rotation! These songs NEVER saw the light of day on popular radio stations. We will hear amazing vocals, solid lyrics & mesmerizing musical arrangements and we will wonder why these songs & artists never got any forward! This is who we are! We like it so!! Good morning. Back to bed I go!! #thechasefiles #cropover2023

for lack of space:
Hoyt Axton: i actually like the Dick Dale version the most, it has the most energy and actually embodies the vibe. alsorecorded by trini lopez
traditional: recorded by the Dixon Brothers, Clarence "Tom" Ashley & Gwen Foster as Ashley & Foster, the Blue Sky Boys, Woody Guthrie, Eddie Noack, Barbara Dane.
it shares occsionally floating verse and mostly melody with east virginia blues
