the party insisting on having a completely normal halloween, something they've been wanting to have since all the upside down shit started, finally getting a re-do in '86. all the way down to the same costumes (though a bit bigger and a bit more involved with eddie's help).

the now older teens meeting up at the entrance to steve's neighborhood bc the ratio of houses that give out full size candy bars to ones who give shitty candy is stacked in their favor here

steve and robin fishing their 'costumes' out of steve's trunk when they get back from picking up henderson and the sinclairs, sliding the pumpkins over their heads and saying "'Kay, we're ready to go."

the group starts off together, but not long after they start, robin gets sick of the pumpkin head and passes it off to eddie, who gleefully sticks it on his own head.

something something as the night wears on, steve and eddie start to trail behind the others, talking animatedly to each other through jagged pumpkin teeth and once, when max turns to make sure they are following, sees the two with their pinkies linked together, lean in as if going for a kiss... only to somehow have forgotten they're wearing pumpkins on their heads.

dull thunks continue to sound behind the troupe all night, ones that are easily played off as the two guys trying to crack the others' open..

max knows though.

Daisuke: All the candy. He loves sugary things, sour gummy worms, etc. The most enthusiastic about putting together a costume

Anya: Isn't too big on unhealthy food, happy to just be included by the group. Won't say no to lollipops or butterscotch. Likes candy corn

Curly: Maybe handles decorations if a party's happening. Mostly prefers mini chocolate bars

Swansea: Refrains from trick-or-treating, hates holidays in general. Obsessively prevents teens from pranking the house

Jimmy: Not big on celebrating either. Goes anyway for begrudging moral support but gets mainly apples and a rock

The complaint bounces off against the grey walls of the cell Raph is currently stuck in. Sitting on a bench just barely big enough for him, head in his hands, sighing out in irritation. The guards down the hallway don’t even blink at his words. 

A voice echoes from afar, a languid tone that could not care less about the situation she got them stuck into. “And that would have been so much more boring.”

Raph shoots a scowl at the iron bars even though Casey can’t see it from her cell. “I’m supposed to be at home right now with my brothers, exactly how the hell am I supposed to explain how I ended up here of all places?”

“To be fair, you did have an opportunity to tell them.” Casey calls back to him. “You just blew it.” 

Raph groans out loud, pressing his palms into his eyes. “The only reason I blew it is because you wouldn’t stop screaming about your Miranda rights at the officers while I was on my one phone call.”

“I deserve my Miranda rights read to me!” She replies back, just as vehemently as half an hour ago when she was this close to choking the gargoyle Yokai was trying to handcuff her. “I have a right to an attorney, they need to bring me one, they can’t just arrest me like this!”

“You also have the right to remain fucking silent.” Raph growls out. “Which you really should have done. The three of them barely listen to what I say on a good day, they definitely didn’t understand a word with you yelling down the line. And I really, really wish you hadn’t wasted your one phone call on the HCPD Commissioner.”

A loud bang of a metal ring on iron bars. He winces. “The guy needs to know how unqualified the officers in his precincts are! One of them tried to put their hand in my pants!”

“They were trying to search your pockets for assault weapons because you wouldn’t go with them without resisting.”

“Of course I wasn’t going to go with them without resisting! And by the way, that’s called frisking and it is illegal without reasonable suspicion.”

“‘Without reasonable susp–’, Casey, you had seven knives on you!”

“And that was my smallest combat kit! All you have is your tonfas and two shurikens, that’s pathetic!”...

By the way, I already reblogged the post about this earlier, but I just wanted make it clear anyone is free to come to our place to trick-or-treat on Halloween (I hope that's okay, @unexpectedly-wizardposting? I'll take care of the candy and answering the door and everything).

The HOA won't like a bunch of wizards and stuff showing up in the neighborhood, but at this point I really don't care what the HOA thinks, and if anything annoying the HOA is actually a bonus.

Also, there may be some adventurers running around looking for treasure and experience—or there may not be; I don't know if they take Halloween off—but just try to ignore them.
