Reaching Higher Ground

A Trichoglossus moluccanus, commonly known as the Rainbow Lorikeet, reaching up for a piece of snack in Bird Paradise. Photo credit: Eleanor Chua.

With a slow lens and the background somehow nearer to the lorikeet than the camera, background foliage could look quite distracting. So in post, the lorikeet was assigned to a new layer while the backdrop was smoothed out a bit with ‘gaussian blur’ to fix things somewhat.
