Shooting practice with Hyuna, her showing off and then ensuring the reader knows their stance and what not. It's totally not a ploy to make them swoon (It totally is). Reader is oblivious to the subtle cues (it's so not subtle) and just sorta takes it as an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves and others.

Missed Shots, Stolen Glances

Summary: During a late-night shooting practice session, Hyuna takes it upon herself to teach you proper stance and technique. Of course, it's totally not an excuse to get close and make you swoon—except it absolutely is. Too bad you're completely oblivious to her not-so-subtle flirting.

The scent of gunpowder lingered in the air, mixing with the crisp evening breeze. The makeshift shooting range—a worn-out lot hidden in the outskirts of the rebellion’s base—echoed with the sharp crack of bullets meeting their targets. You stood at the edge of the clearing, shifting awkwardly as Hyuna adjusted her stance a few feet away.

"Alright, watch and learn," she said, spinning the pistol in her fingers before smoothly clicking it into place. She didn’t have to be this flashy, but, well... this was Hyuna.

She raised the gun with practiced ease, eyes narrowing as she lined up her shot. A split second later, the air split with gunfire—each shot landing perfectly within the bullseye. When she was done, she blew on the muzzle, grinning. "Not bad, right?"

You gave an appreciative nod. "Yeah, you're good."

"Good?" she repeated, placing a hand over her heart as if you’d wounded her pride. "Come on, at least say ‘amazing’ or ‘incredible.’ I don’t show off for just anyone, you know."

You frowned slightly, missing the teasing glint in her eyes. "I mean, I’d rather focus on learning than hyping you up."

Hyuna sighed, shaking her head. "You're lucky you're cute."

Before you could process that, she stepped behind you, her warmth radiating against your back as she guided your arms into position. "First off, your stance is all wrong. Widen your legs a little—no, not that much. There, that’s better."

Her hands lingered on your waist as she nudged you into place. You didn’t think much of it, too focused on maintaining balance. Hyuna, on the other hand, was fighting the urge to smirk.

"Grip the gun like this," she murmured, fingers wrapping over yours. "Firm, but not tense. You want control, not a death grip."

"Right, control," you repeated, adjusting accordingly.

She tilted her head, lips curving into a slow smile. "And don’t forget to breathe."

You exhaled sharply, suddenly aware of how close she was. She chuckled. "Relax. It’s just me."

You ignored the way your pulse spiked, instead focusing on the target ahead. You took a deep breath, steadied your grip, and pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit the edge of the target—far from perfect but at least on the board. You felt Hyuna hum in approval beside you. "Not bad for a beginner. Do it again."

You did, each shot improving with her whispered corrections and occasional—completely unnecessary—hand adjustments. Every time you tensed, she was there, a quiet reassurance at your side.

When you finally emptied the clip, she leaned in, her lips near your ear. "See? Told you I’m a good teacher."

You turned to her, unaware of the weight behind her gaze. "Yeah. Thanks, Hyuna."

Her eyes flickered, a mix of exasperation and amusement. She bumped her forehead lightly against yours before pulling away. "Hopeless," she muttered with a grin.

You weren’t sure what she meant. But as she handed you another clip and told you to go again, you got the feeling this training session wasn’t just about shooting.

And, somehow, you were still missing the point.

Mini Fanfic: #1226: Flight Lessons with Ms. Bat~ (Sonic)

9:04 a.m. at Angel Island's Knuckles Cabin's Living Room........

Rouge: (Yawns While Walking into Living Room) Shadoooow!~ Our lesson starts today, where are- Oh. (Notices Shadow Sitting on the Arm Rest of the Sofa) There you are. (Starts Scratching the Side of her Back) How long were you waiting in here exactly?

Shadow: (Simply Shrugs to Rouge) Ten or so minutes. You did say to get ready by 9am.

Rouge: Yeah, but not ten minutes early! This is not a work day today- ('Sighs in Relief') Thank god......

Shadow: No, but training is just as important to my eyes. (Rolls his Eyes a Bit) That and I didn't want to ruin your beauty sleep or what have you.

Rouge: (Places her Hands onto Both her Hips While Giving Shadow a More Stern, Teacher Like Glare) Well, aren't you a sweetheart? But that alone isn't gonna save from the amount of intense training I'm about to put you through, now is it?

Shadow: (Gets Up From the Arm Rest) I expect nothing less. (Makes his Way to the Door) Let's go

Rouge: (Watches Shadow Walks Off Before Letting Out a Sigh) Man, you're such a tough egg to crack..... (Follows Shadow's Lead)

Outside of the Cabin........

Shadow: (Flapping his Newly Found Wings Along Side Rouge, Slightly Unimpressed) So this is part of the "intense" training of yours.....

Rouge: (Raises an Eyebrow) It's a warm-up, genius. Gotta make sure our wings are nicely stretched out and active for take off.

Shadow: But wouldn't doing this tire you out eventually?

Rouge: If you over-flap it maybe. Just keep following my speed and tempo, you'll be fine.

Shadow: That's the plan.

A Couple of Seconds Wings Flapping Later.......

Rouge: (Starts Bending Over to Both her Toes Back and Forth) Always important to stretch out other parts of your body as well, just in case.

Shadow: (Starts Stretching Out Both his Arms One by One) Obviously. (Pulls his Leg Up to his Back) Still don't find the intensity in all this.

Rouge: Don't get your quills twisted, hon. We'll get to that in due time. (Starts Stretching her Back Out Next) Better be ready by then.

Shadow: ('Hmph') No worries. I'm prepared for anything.

Few Minutes Later.........

Shadow: (Already Has an Annoyed Look on his Face as He's Doing Push Ups) I should've kept my mouth shut.

Rouge: (Pouts at Shadow) Oh don't be such a grouch, Shadow. A hundred and so push-ups isn't going to up and kill you.

Shadow: Push-ups are not the issue here. (Glares Up at Rouge Lazyily Laying on his Back) What is, is that I'm doing them with YOU on top of me!

Rouge: (Casually Typing Something on her Phone) I'm more than certain that my contribution to this exercise is giving you greater help.

Shadow: (Rolls his Eyes in Annoyance) It's more of a hindrance if anything......

Rouge: Hey, I wasn't kidding when i said our training will be intense today. (Forms a Cheeky Smirk on her Face) Gonna have to suck up and power through it like the Ultimate Lifeform you claimed you are~

Shadow: ('Sighs in Defeat') I knew I should've stayed in bed today.......

Rouge: I would've found a million ways to wake you up then. (Gently Rubs the Back of Shadow's Quils Back and Forth While Still Looking at her Phone) Now, finish up those push ups. You're doing great.

Shadow let's out an annoyed groan as he continues his push up exercise.

Few Minutes Later at the Island's Mountains.......

Rouge: (Clings onto Shadow's Back as She Coaches him to Climb Up on the Moutain) Come on. Keep climbing. We're almost there.

Shadow: Still don't get why we couldn't just fly up there instead.

Rouge: Because something something discipline and hard work, now hush! We made it.

Shadow climbs himself and Rouge up on the top of the mountain as he looks over the Island's landscape and the ocean below them.

Shadow: So this what the island looks like from below......

Rouge: (Hops Off of Shadow's Back) Breathtaking, isn't it? Knuckie used to take me up here to watch the stars with him at night. (Sighs Dreamingly as She Clasps her Hands Together) it was the most romantic thing he done for me yet~ (Starts Clearing her Throat as She Comes Back to the Topic at Hand) But I digress. Because THIS is where we will be taking off from!

Shadow: Is that so?

Rouge: Yep. Consider this a big hurrah to the beginning portion of your lesson. (Forms a Teasing Smirk on her Face) You nervous

Shadow: (Rolls his Eyes Again) Hardly. (Carefully Looks Down Below) I just need to figure out how I should go about this......

Rouge: Honey, all you gotta do is take a dive down and fly before hitting the ground. It's not rocket science.

Shadow: Obviously........

Rouge notices two of Shadow's fingers rapidly tapping on his other arm in slight fear before stepping in.

Rouge: (Gives Shadow a Reassuring Smile While Gently Rubbing one of Shadow's Shoulders) Hey, you don't need to worry about a thing, okay? Just stay calm and put more faith and trust yourself and your wings more. I know you got what it takes to ace this. And if it ever does goes south from here, I'll be right behind you, ready to catch your fall in no time. (Sticks her Pinky Out) Promise.

Shadow: (Looks Back and Gives Rouge a Single Nod) Right. (Crosses his Pinky with Rouge's) Thank you.

Shadow walks back to the edge of the mountain, takes a very deep breath before taking a leap of faith off the ground. As his entire skyrocketed down to the surface, he closes his eyes, spread both his wings out to the open, and pray that it gives him flight.

.....ow.......adoooow.......Shadow!

Shadow: (Eyes Shot Back Open as He Looks Down to See that Two of his Feet are Hovering in Mid Air) I did it.....(Turns Back to his Wings Currently Flapping) I'm actually flying........

Rouge: (Hovering Herself Slightly Down to Shadow's Level) Indeed you are. Right in the neck of time too. (Smirks Proudly at Shadow) Told you got nothing to worry about.

Shadow: (Nodded in Agreement) Never doubted you for a second.

Rouge: Oh come now. There gotta be at least a teensy doubt in that cold heart of yours.

Shadow: (Simply Shakes his Head) There's none whatsoever. I probably would've plummeted down to the ground with my legs behind my tail, if it weren't for your words of encouragement. You're doing pretty good as a coach so far, Rouge.

Rouge: (Stares at Shadow For a Brief Second Before Putting on a More Smug Look on her Face) Of course I am~ I've been leading you and Omega around since the day we became an official team. It was only natural I gotten into that role flawlessly.

Shadow: (Rolls his Eyes Yet Again) I wouldn't go that far- (Suddenly Felt Rouge Hugging Him in the Air) Hm?

Rouge: I'm proud of you today, hun.

Shadow: (Taken Aback by Rouge's Hug and Words) Uh....Tha-

Rouge: (Places her Finger on Shadow's Lip to Get Him to Stop Talking) Shhshh. Let me finish. I know this whole being "part alien" thing has been stressing you out lately and how hard it is to accept that completely, but to see you out here, doing all of this regardless of all of that, warms me up inside a bit, you know? (Pulls Away From Shadow While Giving Him a Firm, Determined look on her Face) And listen, I don't give a damn if you're an alien, weapon, Ultimate Lifeform or whatever else people wanna label as! You, mister, are Shadow the Hedgehog, my teammate- (Softens her Harden Look into a Smile) And my friend. And I will personally kick anyone in the face if they dare to say otherwise.

Shadow: (Stares at Rouge For a Brief Second Before Letting Out a Light Chuckle) ('Heh') I'd actually pay good money to see that.

Rouge: (Giggles Softly) I hope so!~ My kindness ain't cheap these days, you know?

Shadow: Wouldn't doubt thay for a second. But seriously, Rouge, thank you. For putting up with my convoluted crap....(Smiles Back at Rouge a Bit) And for being a part in my life to begin with.

Rouge: Ditto. (Gives Shadow a Small Peck in the Cheek) 'Kay! Mushiness' over, time we go back to regularly scheduled program. How do you feel about flying around the city's sky a bit? If you keep doing good enough I could teach you a few of my special loopy loops tricks along the way~

Shadow: And keep getting rimmed through multiple buildings, pigeons, and seagulls in my path? I'll pass.

Rouge: Oh relax. You won't hit anything under my watch. I've been perfecting these moves since I was ten years old and none of them got me crashed into anything!

Shadow: Somehow I doubt that.

Rouge: ('Sigh') Look, just trust me on this. I know what I'm doing!....For the most part.

Shadow: That's sound concerning. ('Sighs in Defeat') But sure, I guess.
