What if, for shits and giggles but also because it could totally make sense in a way, I headcanoned that Gold/Hibiki/Ethan is Kris's older brother a la Ken from the beta?

Unlike, Red and beta!Blue/Leaf who were always conceived of as two separate kids who were friends in concept art/promo materials, Gold and Kris are never depicted as interacting in game canon and are the only protag pair to not do so. It isn't until Masters that we see them interacting and Master's version of "canon" is easily arguable.

If Kris's older brother is running around having his own pokemon adventure, of course she'd never really run into him unless they were at home at the same time.

prefers to go by gold around most people

* speaking of typhlosion, they have a scar from silver’s feraligator from when they first ran into each other; do not worry gold and silver are on good terms with each other

* will occasionally pass that title to lance because he finds himself stretched thin between his duties already ( lance is a father figure to him, once again sorry masters players )

helps out with the pokemon daycare with lyra and help kris with uncovering and protecting the ruins in his free time

Something Hibiki tells young trainers in the future is to try not to work too hard. If someone his using work as a coping mechanism for grief, he recommends a therapist or a healthier coping mechanism.

He's accepted in the future that he won't be able to save everyone, but he still does what he can because he cares.

And while his survivor's guilt can get in the way sometimes, he's learned to deal with it in ways that don't hurt him anymore.

His dad would be proud of him :)

Protagonists HGSS

Dumb kanjoh ska band au idea that popped into my head that won't go away until I word vomit it up:

Red: Trumpet with a lot of solos. Virtually never talks in interviews. Not musically trained, but has a good ear, perfect pitch, and can play almost anything he's heard once before.

Green: Guitar and singer. One of the few who actually know music theory and understands chord structure. He started off doing a lot more jazz, but slowly fell in love with ska after Red started listening to it more.

Blue: Keyboard. She like improvising and and messing around to find good sounds. She thinks she invents new chords and Green tells her it's just an ionian major 7th chord.

Kotone: Lead singer and sax/oboe player. She make up silly little songs for them to play around with during rehearsals, like about seeing a cute yamper on her way to the grocery store and how soft and fluffy the mareep she saw outside were.

Kris: Bass trombone/trumpet/horn/brass and lyricist. She did a bit of self study on music theory. She played trombone in middle school and high school, but didn't play again until after university when joining the band.

Silver: Electric bass/cello. Kris and Kotone dragged him into the band. He was classically trained and used to be a fairly well known cellist until he cut all ties with his family.

Gold: Drummer. He's been in many failed bands before and he hopes that this is the one that finally works. He was the one to have the idea to start a band with this group of friends.
