RoP Teaser Trailer Breakdown!
First of all, I would like to say, I'm SO PSYCHED for this season! (Especially since we're going to get to see Elrond in action 🫠)
So, it starts off with a shot of saurbrand with Durin voicing over saying, "An evil, ancient and powerful, has returned!" Obviously, the shot is referencing Sauron and how he’s ancient, powerful, and evil, but I think that that's not what Durin is actually talking about in-universe. I think he’s actually referencing the balrog!
Honestly, given the scenes of panic and destruction in Khazad-Dûm we see later in the trailer, I think there's a good chance the season finale will deal with the fall of Khazad-Dûm at the hands of the balrog.
The next shot is this roiling mass of... things that take on a spider-like form. Obviously, that's going to be Shelob.
Next is a clip with Galadriel and Elrond, along with three elven warriors in a defensive circle. I'll be honest, I have no idea where they are or who/what they're fighting, but I am LIVING for Galadriel's braid crown. Gorgeous, practical, 10/10.
Also, we finally get to see Elrond fight! He toted that sword around all last season and didn't pull it out once! And, I love his new hair! Robert Aramayo, bless his heart, has a VERY angular face and the slicked back style was doing him no favors. It could just be messy hair in this one scene, but it's beautiful.
Next is a shot of the hands of one of the Rhûnic witches we saw last season with blood on her hands. Maybe some kind of blood sacrifice?
After that is a similarly lit shot of a temple (?) with a swarm of moths. I... have no idea what that's about, but I'm excited to find out!
Then there's a brief voice-over of either the Stranger (whom I maintain is definitely Gandalf) or maybe one of the southlanders? saying, "He worms his way inside your mind." As the scene cuts to the golden tree in Lindon as worm-like roots come out of the ground and begin to spread.
I think it looks a little like the mass that made up Shelob, but I don't really know what significance that could have? I can't imagine her crossing Middle Earth to bite the tree like Ungoliant did, but who knows. I also don't know the significance of who's speaking, but that's mostly because I can't tell who's speaking.
Then there's a quick cut to orcs and trolls on the move, presumably in Mordor.
After that, we're back in Ost-in-Edhil as Celebrimbor is watching a bright, orange light with a dark shape in the middle, like someone's coming through. It almost looks like... an eye 🤔
It's GOT to be the coming of Annatar. There's literally nothing else it could be!
Someone else, either Galadriel or Míriel, says "I think he has been here... I think he has been here all along!" Obviously, they're talking about Sauron and how he's been spying on them, making me think it's Galadriel speaking.
Then a shot of Ost-in-Edhil in confusion as Annatar stalks through the town square, a smirk on his face. This could be the beginning of the end of Ost-in-Edhil (and Celebrimbor) but I really don't think they'd do that so soon. Maybe he just got done with the Dwarf rings?
Next, there's a shot of Númenor's coastline along with the release date (August 29th!) then a shot of Galadriel and Elrond on horseback going... somewhere. There's mountains and my first thought was Númenor, but that wouldn't really fit. Maybe this is the discovery of the hidden valley?
What do we think?
Then, it's Míriel in the ocean with a giant sea-monster, possibly the one that attacked the southlanders' raft. I think she's having some sort of vision. Like a "this is the final fate of your people" sort of thing. That or Ar-Pharazon made her walk the plank lol.
Then there's shots of Disa, King Durin III, and a boulder breaking a bridge in Khazad-Dûm as someone says, "Every soul in middle earth is in danger," reinforcing my idea that we're going to see Khazad-Dûm become Moria. Also, Disa seems angry, and Durin III seems to be stuck in a cave? Coupled with the LITERAL BROKEN BRIDGE, it almost makes me think that Disa's gone full Lady MacBeth and is trying to get her husband into power.
Then a shot of Elendil in a crowd being pushed back by soldiers. Maybe something to do with the Faithful? Maybe Míriel's being executed? I have no idea.
The next shot is of Galadriel screaming which, while beautiful to hear, had no context, so I have no clue what it is. It's immediately followed by an orc licking his knife.
Next is a shot of a city (I think it's Lindon, but it could be Ost-in-Edhil or Armenelos) with the words "Darkness will bind them" immediately followed by a shot of the three elven rings on people's fingers. One is definitely Galadriel, another Gil-Galad, and I THINK the other is Celebrimbor.
Then the leaves of the great tree in Lindon turning from green to gold very quickly (I have no idea what that is. Could just be them showing off the tone?)
Durin III picks up a ring of power. I could really see this being a major point of conflict in the coming season. We already know that political tension is rising in Khazad-Dûm: Durin IV has been disinherited by his father, Disa wants Durin IV to be king, Durin III is against mining mithril while Durin IV and Disa are all for it, and presumably there's a brother in there somewhere who would very much like a chance at the throne. A ring of power in that situation would be like throwing a torch into a tinderbox!
Next, we see Arondir flipping and shooting an orc with Isildur in the background, which means we're going to see Arondir and Isildur team up! Not as cool as Elrond and Isildur would be, but there's still plenty of time for that. I think Arondir is probably trying to help him get home to Númenor.
After that is a shot of Númenor with a GIANT eagle coming in for a landing and then it switches to a shot of Ar-Pharazon drawing his sword in front of the eagle.
Y'all, this is INTERESTING! Giant eagles are signs/emissaries/agents of Manwë, the head dude of the valar! In book canon, Númenor is destroyed and Ar-Pharazon dies because he challenged the valar in his pursuit of immortality. Here, it looks like he's swearing to fight FOR the valar, like he has the backing of the gods. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THIS SCENE OR IT'S GOING TO EAT ME!!!
Next is a shot of Theo crying, probably at his mom's funeral. (Bronwyn is dead, folks. Super dead. I don't know how it happened yet, but it will probably be offscreen as I heard the actress has decided to take a break from acting. We need to be respectful of that though, even if it leads to weird narrative choices, because real world problems trump fantasy 😔)
Then, there's a short shot of Isildur looking up (🤷♂️) and, more importantly, a shot of flaming catapults firing on Ost-in-Edhil.
There's one of two things this could be. Either, it's Sauron's army trying to conquer the city to get to the rings, or more likely, it's elvish forces (led by Elrond?) trying to free Ost-in-Edhil from Sauron's hold and rescue Celebrimbor. If THAT’S the case, it makes more sense that the Galadriel and Elrond riding horses shot was them finding the hidden valley, AND that means we might also get to see Celebrimbanner 😈.
Next is a shot of the new Adar, who doesn't look half bad, followed Gandalf the stranger in Rhûn hitting his staff on the ground and I think creating a wind. I think we're really going to see him come into his power this season!
Then, we see Galadriel pulling back a FLAMING arrow and blowing up a regiment of orcs. Then Elrond leading a cavalry charge. I'm guessing this is all during the attack to break the siege of Ost-in-Edhil.
After that, a very disheveled looking Celebrimbor drops seven (SEVEN!!! ALMOST DEFINITELY THE DWARF RINGS) into the forge fire. If I had to guess, I would say this shot is some time during his captivity and maybe he's escaped and is trying to destroy the rings of power he knows Annatar/Sauron had a hand in.
Next, we cut to a shot of Annatar in the debris of the forge (possibly destroyed when Celebrimbor tried to destroy the rings?) surrounded by sword wielding elves. Interestingly, they do NOT look like Elrond’s forces. Instead, they look more like Celebrimbor's own workmen. We can also see Celebrimbor in this shot WITH A MISSING HAND!!! (Seriously, what is with the Tolkien stories and losing a hand? First Maedhros, then Beren (as well as someone else I can't remember right now) and now poor Celebrimbor!?)
Galadriel gasps, "He is Sauron" and Annatar turns his hands and explodes the guards away, which immediately cuts to an explosion in a mountain valley. The smoke clears to reveal what I think is going to be the foundations of Barad-Dûr.
All in all, I think we're in for a TREAT this season with lots of Elrond, lots of dwarves, and LOTS of Celebrimbor whump. Honestly, I think we may even have a shot at seeing Celebrimbanner during the season finale! I doubt we're getting the fall of Númenor yet, the the fall of Khazad-Dûm is DEFINITELY on the table. SO EXCITED!!!

The transition art for sunny 16 includes: planes, pawns (with dee's hair), teeth, rats, clovers and eagles. In other frames there are also Frank's glasses, 5 cent coins, bowling bowls, a pizza slice, beer tankers and a blow-up sofa. At the end, a hand moves in frame to flip a toilet flush.
The pawns seem to fit with multiple scenes of a chess tournament on the tv and Frank and Charlie wrestling on the ground. The bowling balls are obvious. Eagles are probably to do with Charlie's America clothes. The blow-up sofa fits with the one that the car crashes into. Teeth I have no clue about and the planes are a mystery. The clovers, rats, beer and pizza are probably just normal sunny imagery. The toilet flushing transitions are also typical sunny, but could allude to the discovered toilet in Frank and Charlie's cupboard.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Teaser Trailer Full Breakdown
In the grand tradition of GBHQ trailer breakdowns, here we go with everything that’s fit to digitally print on the recently released teaser trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire!
The trailer pulls a great switcheroo in the style that has become common-place for large blockbusters like this, which really bums me out that the first experience many (if not all) of us have had with this teaser is seeing it on our phones, tablets, computers, what have you knowing that you’re watching a trailer for a new Ghostbusters movie. Can you imagine being in the theater, the lights darken, all the ads finish, the green band MPAA rating pops up, and then you see this not knowing it’s coming? The first 20 to 30 seconds of this trailer are wonderful and tense moments where you’re waiting for the turn. I have to imagine that circa-1988 Troy would have lost his mind with that unexpected firehouse reveal.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (more on the title a bit later) looks to be a great departure for the series, opening up the world both in terms of visuals and story, and seems to speak to literally all of my preferences and loves in life: Ghostbusters and the cold and snow. In other franchises like Star Wars, the ice planet Hoth continues to be among my favorites. Possibly the Colorado kid in me that I just love the aesthetic of a wintery snowscape. And it’s no secret that I hate warm weather and prefer the cold, give me those fall and winter clothes and coats and wardrobe any day.
But I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s do it, eh?
IT’S A CRUEL SUMMER
The studio logos thud with the opening percussion of Cruel Summer and Lady Liberty is seen with some very orange-hue sunshine. It’s hot. It’s summer. Is this a Michael Bay summer blockbuster? Are we about to see a teen summer film trailer? What’s happening? I do love the fact that Bananarama’s Cruel Summer is used here both because it’s such a staple of the 80’s and immediately transports you into that mindset, but also because writer/director Gil Kenan is such a proud “formerly from Reseda” resident that there’s a little but of his Daniel LaRusso Karate Kid attitude present in the trailer here either consciously or unconsciously. You have to think it’s a little conscious given how close attention a scene of teens playing with a soccer ball on the beach gets.
A radio voice tells us that it’s a scorcher out there with heat alerts and record breaking temps on the horizon for New York and New Jersey. Kids are playing with an open hydrant. The Wonder Wheel is spinning with denizens at Coney Island splashing in the water. Eric Steelberg’s cinematography is on full display here as a slice of life has never looked better and more appealing. This idealized scene certainly won’t last, will it?
Sure enough. The song grinds to a halt, as does the Wonder Wheel. Something is amiss.
From the water, a storm cloud closes in and all the swimmers flee as if they’re leaving Amity in a hurry. Heavy Jaws vibes here, and that you know is intentional.
Spikes emerge from the ground and the Wonder Wheel flash freezes. Then comes this frame which: tell me I’m watching a Ghostbusters movie without telling me that I’m watching a Ghostbusters movie:
Chaos as the flash freeze hits Manhattan and the ice spikes emerge from the ground, we’re fully in disaster movie territory as we see a taxi cab impaled from street level. Fortunately for anyone in that cab, it looks to pierce right through the middle. Whew. The rumbling subsides as we follow the street toward a familiar looking building and Elmer Bernstein’s familiar Ghostbusters twinkle plays in the score.
I love this shot for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the camera move is evocative of that teaser trailer for Afterlife that followed the ground of a farm into the open barn to reveal the Ecto-1. Secondly, what an image, right? The Ghostbusters are surrounded. Claustrophobically closed in by the ice and spikes. The threat is visual. It’s overwhelming.
Hit It
The screen dips to black and we hear an engine rev. Could it be? You’re damn right it could be.
The Ecto-1 peels out, pulling off a full U-Turn at top speed and knocking over some trademark NYC garbage in the process. I’ve seen some criticism mainly on forums that the Ecto-1 in the original two films was slow and lumbering and it’s jarring to them to see the car pulling these high speed maneuvers. And, while I completely agree that the coughing and chunky Ecto of the 80’s was the car’s personality at that point in time, the car has obviously been souped up since the 90’s. Even if it was left to rot in a barn, a gearhead like Ray and someone who loves the car like Winston would have been futzing with that thing every day for decades. People change, so can cars. And the energy and excitement that a full-speed Ecto can provide for a film gives it a dynamic that harkens back to The Real Ghostbusters which we’ve learned from Kumail Nanjiani was a touchstone for this film and the filmmakers.
The Death Chill
The trailer kicks into high gear as we hear Patton Oswalt’s new character explain that for the first time, someone froze to death in New York City in July. Phoebe, in full (snow covered) Ghostbusting gear, stands next to the firepole in a darkened and ominous firehouse. Trevor, Lucky, and James Acaster’s new character stand side-by-side looking at something unseen. A very dapper looking gentlemen is suspended in frozen animation. Callie head turns with concern, also standing in what looks like the garage bay of the firehouse.
An apartment door bursts open having been frozen as Phoebe - standing next to Podcast who is seen for the first time asks, “What is it?” And, after a quick hero shot of Kumail’s new character, the answer comes from the one and only Ray Stantz. It’s the death chill.
As Ray gives us the exposition that you are literally scared to death and the last thing you see is your eyes freezing, the trailer rapid fires amazing and tantalizing imagery including a backdraft puff of smoke sucking back through the crack of a door, a hero shot of Paul Rudd’s returning Gary Grooberson, Winston Zeddemore and Peter Venkman, suited up and standing in front of the Ecto looking at an unseen threat, and one of the New York Public Library’s iconic lions snarling and roaring at what looks to be Ray based on the denim shirt he’s been wearing since 1984. Ha!
I Think We’re Going to Have to Put a Little Overtime Into This One
If ever Ray Parker Jr.’s theme song was going to kick in and we see flashes of the team saving the day, now would be about the time you expect it to happen. But this is, after all, just a teaser trailer and both of those particulars are saved for another occasion. Instead, a quick and violent shot of the firehouse doors being ripped away as we look over the shoulder of a couple of busters (and is someone holding some sort of new handheld piece of gear on the left? Dude. Can’t wait to see what that is.)
The street buckles and tears and threatens both our heroes and the Ecto-1. Trevor, Callie, and Gary are pinned against a wall in the firehouse with the ice spikes closing dangerously close to them. The wall around the containment unit cracks and shakes, threatening to collapse (and does that mean another containment breach could be possible?).
Bathed in ominous red light in a shot that looks straight out of a tense moment from James Cameron’s Aliens, Lucky appears to be in a bit of a pickle. From behind, we see a gnarly looking creature of some sort, perhaps the new big-bad, locking a broken horn into the socket on the side of its head. Oh man, is that creature design cool and we’re not even seeing the full breadth of it, I’m sure.
More flashes. James Acaster’s new character, surrounded by darkness and using a flashlight to illuminate something (and wearing one of the much touted by fans’ parkas, more on that in a second). Gary, Callie and Phoebe all suited up and trying to keep warm (love the turtleneck and gloves look with the flightsuit that Callie is sporting). Patton Oswalt slams an elevator gate as he escorts Ray, Phoebe and Podcast somewhere unknown. And perhaps one of my favorite and very mysterious shots in the trailer, Kumail’s character opening what looks to be a false wall in a pantry closet to reveal a secret room. I love a good secret passageway. One of these days, when I win the lottery, I’m going to have a basement with all sorts of cool secret doors and compartments.
Ray’s explanation of the death chill concludes and we see Lucky, fully suited up, seemingly on the verge of freezing to death and her eyes glaze to a frozen state. Certainly looks perilous for Lucky, could this be the character’s end? Or does someone hopefully come to save the day. Stay tuned until March of next year.
Gary states the obvious, that it sounds like Ray is explaining being literally scared to death. There’s a bit of a call and response here that I think is fully editorial as Gary and Callie are standing in what looks to be the firehouse during the daytime and Patton Oswalt’s character telling us how cool it is looks to be in a darkened room elsewhere. It’s a fun moment that shows both characters’ enthusiasm but a strong possibility these two moments are from two totally different parts of the final film that we’ll see.
Just before the title reveal, Trevor struggles to wield a proton thrower that seems to be amped up to eleven, while sporting one of his notable t-shirt choices - this time an old school YMCA shirt. And then, we see the title for the first time.
I’ll just flat out say it, subtitles to films are difficult. You’re sort of damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. For the same reason parents don’t reveal baby names to the general public before the kid is born, everyone has an opinion on names. A gut reaction. A feeling and opinion that they need to express. Movie titles have come under the same microscope. We’ve heard EVERY tired soap joke about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but the title was appropriate to the movie. Clear and to the point.
There’s something to be said for the good ol’ days of sequels where you just flat out said what it was: Back to the Future Part II, Beverly Hills Cop II, Star Trek VI. Also clear and to the point. But as the years progressed, a stigma around numerical titles developed where the higher the number of the film the perception of the quality decreasing became the punchline. Even if it wasn’t the case, adding a numerical value to a film title fell out of fashion and the subtitle became king. It’s also possible that increasingly complex titles started weighing on marketing and advertising and even just public perception of having to know a full title like Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. You’ve noticed that even the studios have bailed on the episode titles for Star Wars, opting just to ID them by their subtitle: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, etc.
All of that to say, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has the serial qualities of an old school sci-fi film while also immediately selling and stating what the film is. It’s the Ghostbusters sequel where everything freezes. Clear and to the point. And you can tell they were thinking about a play on words with the Empire State somehow but again — didn’t want to over complicate things. Forum and social banter have suggested, “Why not Ghostbusters: Death Chill?” Which yes, is a pretty evocative title but markets the film a little differently. You could see some parents resistant to taking their kids to a movie about the chill of death.
I love the title and think that it absolutely works. It also really frees up future story telling for the Ghostbusters films where they don’t necessarily have to be so wide in scope. They can be hyper focused on a scenario or threat. It takes the franchise in a great direction, in my opinion.
Okay, okay — what about the last two shots of the teaser. Which are outstanding. After the title reveal there are two more glimpses: one of presumably the big bad of the film and the other of our heroes standing atop the firehouse poised to tackle the threat.
Everyone loves the jackets. I do too. I want one of those things for this winter, that’s for sure. But I also love everything happening in the composition and blocking and pose of the characters here. It screams Shandor Rooftop. I love that Callie is wearing the Ecto-Goggles (tough to tell if they’re the Afterlife variant with the Polaroid camera capabilities) and that Phoebe has filled her grandfather’s shoes vigilantly manning the PKE Meter. You can see slight variations on the barrel of the Particle Thrower that Trevor is holding and — THE JACKETS, I MEAN COME ON. TAKE MY MONEY NOW. PLEASE.
If this composition isn’t part of at least one of the theatrical one-sheet posters, I would frankly be surprised. What a shot.
Final Thoughts
What a teaser. It gives us just enough without giving us too much. There are real stakes here. I’m worried about the futures of several of the characters and several of the inanimate objects like the Ecto and the Firehouse. And visually, I love how this film already looks in-step with the original film and Afterlife, but is opening the color palate and scope up a little bit. But also, how crazy is it that after decades of wondering when a third Ghostbusters film would be released, pouring over the glacial pace at the development of the film and every mention and update, to be sitting here dissecting a teaser trailer for a fifth Ghostbusters movie?

Okay, so I've seen this trailer at least 22 times at this point, so here's to a trailer breakdown because I don't think my brain's going to leave this alone anytime soon. I've read the book, will try and keep "spoilers" to a minimum. I say it like that as the added info does not change how one views the story, but in the current landscape, it seems prudent to avoid.
Kay, so establishing shot, we've got some otters. (also a warning? alarm in the background)
I promise this is going to get more in depth as things go on.
Back to the otters. They scramble over rocks positioned around a seaside as the camera pans back to it's limits while showing the black edges of the camera's capabilities. The title (The Wild Robot) appears as text. (I'msoexcitedI'msoexcitedI'msoexcited)
The camera fully pans back. Those otters we viewed were a reflection, we see, as the physical camera pans out further and we see an unactivated large(relative to otter) spherically bodied trunk of a robot in an open box of some sort (shipping container, box, potato, potato) Storm clouds have partially dissipated in the distance.
The otters are curious, and thus start exploring, with one upon the sphere. It boops it's snoot on a button. The button elicits a reaction. The main sphere of the robot's body spins in one direction, with it's dome, half sphere head spinning at the same speed in the other direction.
As the robot spins, the otters quickly disperse into the water, panicking as they swim in different directions. Two turn back to face the still rotating robot. It sheds it's casing as the limbs, four in total, also activate. Just the head rotates for a moment, in the opposite direction from before. One of the otters sneezes. The head immediately whips around to face the otters. The camera cuts so we view only otters and the water behind them. One of the otters, in reaction to the robot's head movement coordination, pushes a smaller otter behind it's back, with a determined expression on it's face
A robotic sounding sung cover of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" starts. This will be the majority of the audio for the rest of the trailer.
The camera goes dark. The next image is of the robot, fully mobile, walking away from the top of a cliff face, into a forest, turning away from the camera to face said forest as the shot continues. The camera pans upward. We do not see the tops of the trees, though that does seem to be the camera's eventual path.
Another cut, this time to a camera shot closer to the ground from within the forest. We cannot see the top of the robot, but we do see it walking. So does what appears to be a lynx, apprehensively drawing backwards into the base of a tree as the robot walks past.
The camera cuts again. A mostly cloudy sky (and clouds of white - song lyric), only disrupted by some birds, probably geese. They sweep towards the ground. The camera follows to find the robot, back to the camera, watching the geese.
Another cut. The robot is entirely underwater, with red markings, seemingly from internal processes, etched across the body, body entirely swept along with the waves.
I know the trailer doesn't say this, but from here on in I will be intermittently addressing the robot by her book name, Roz, as well as robot. Names are nice. I like them.
Another cut. Roz attempts to climb a cliff, as the waves of the sea come very close to pulling her into it. She isn't a third of the way up yet as she loses a handhold and swings wildly.
Another cut. Roz studies a crab walking sideways up the cliff. Roz works to copy it's bodily setup.
Another cut. A larger view of the cliff. The waves are no longer a threat, with how far Roz has been able to climb thanks to this technique taught by crab.
Another cut. Camera pans around Roz, while the audience is not directly able to tell what she is standing on. It's high up, and we can see the edges of the outer croppings of this island from this high easier than what landmass Roz is standing on. Camera pans further, with Roz tracking the movement. We now see that she is standing on top of a mountain, with slight grass, and much rock near her feet. It starts to storm as the camera completes it's circle, with the words From the filmmakers who brought you How to Train your Dragon curving up in the background
The music changes to orchestral. The camera cuts. Roz is slowly crawling on all fours through the forest at night. A raccoon runs around her and further forward. The camera, which was looking at her from the back, cuts to her face as she reaches the top of the slope she was crawling up, using a different technique from her earlier cliff crawling.
Immediate cut to a bear batting Roz once.
Immediate cut to Roz bursting through foliage, seemingly at more than her own volition of movement, She tries to stall her feet against the rather imminent cliff side.
Immediate cut to Roz falling down a cliff side. The camera pans around her face as she starts to fall, but does not follow past that point. Her markings are red again here, when they weren't seen in the earlier shots.
Cut to Roz's hand and only her hand latching onto a log on it's side, catching the attention of a nearby fox, carrying a possibly plot relevent egg in it's mouth.
Camera cuts. Roz swings the rest of her body up the log, again, with the audience watching her from behind.
The fox, the camera cuts to, is scared as he watches her swing entirely into his vision.
Camera cuts to Roz viewing the fox, as her hand slides back into it's place.
Camera cuts to Roz, back in the forest, watching a butterfly go to join it's brethren, resting on a tree. Roz walks up to said tree and places her hand on a blank part of the bark, causing the butterflies to quickly come off of the tree and fly in different directions.
Camera cuts back to Roz seemingly viewing this while leaving her hand on that bare piece of bark.
Camera cuts again. A winter storm, with 2 otters stuck on a piece of ice being battered from all directions by the sea. On land, fairly close, Roz's searching eyes scan the horizon like a flashlight beam, taking time to blink. She sees them. they see the eyes. They swim towards her.
Cut to her hand on a peice of ice, with the camera having to pan far backward to reach the majority of her body. The internal processing's marking's are green now. She appears to be carrying something in her "free" arm.
Camera cuts again. Roz's face, a less harsh of an environment in the background. Her internal markkings look blue here. We are looking directly at her face. She is looking at something else.
The next camera is her internal camera sensor as her hand reaches out into what turns out to be a nest, with an egg inside. Thehre are sevaral cracked eggshells around one unbroken specimen. Text appears over her screen, going too fast for a cursory glance to decifer.
Camera cuts (I watch them grow - song lyric). The camera's near enough to the ground that we see Roz's feet, and the baby gosling following her intently. He hops as he peeps. He crosses almost the entire screen in the time it took one of her feet to move once.
Camera cuts. It is night in the forest. Roz sits against a tree, with multiple animals leaning against her.
Camera cuts. Daytime. Roz turns to look at the deer beside her as she works to mimic it's movements, turning her head to face the same direction as the deer's soon after.
Camera cuts. Roz holds the gosling in one hand. It reaches forwaard with it's whole body to nuzzle her head. We now actively see her colors change internally from blue to pink.
Camera cuts to a different part of the frame. Roz gets more and more color added as the shot continues, all either pink or golden yellow.
Camera cuts. An establishing shot of a forest snowing over, violently. The words This Fall cut across the landscape.
Camera cuts. The storm still rages. Roz uses her arm as both a grapple against some blue tinged surface, and a rope as she swings around the camera. Her markings are green here. It's a cliff, we see as she reaches her destination, an inlaid bird's nest. The bird is shivering. We hear a bird's caw.
Camera cuts. No longer a storm, many animals within the forest surround Roz, the center of a very large hug.
Camera cuts to geese flying overhead, following the geese as night falls. The word Discover comes across the screen.
Roz runs with animals through the forest in a night setting as some (3 in number) large bright object follows quickly behind. The camera spins as Roz passes it.
Cut. The forest is covered in a red flame. the animals run without Roz here. The camera follows one of the deer as it passes.
Cut. Another, larger shot of the geese, with the forest only a couple of treetops seen below them. There are much more geese in this shot than any previous. The words Your True Nature are emblazoned on the image.
Camera cuts twice. Roz is running, with a goose on her shoulder joint. The goose spreads its wings. It starts to fly, with Roz lowing her body for his added momentum as he takes off. The goose is her child.
The camera cuts to the head of the migration as it curves around the island. (Sometimes, roz says)
We're in amidst foilage again as Roz runs through it (to survive, she says) She catches an arm off the edge of a tree seemingly close to a ledge to watch the geese continue to fly over. The arm stops her from going over this time.
The camera cuts to her face. She's distraught. Camera cuts to her son flying (Become more than we were programed to be, she says) It looks like she's about to cry. I cried the first four times I watched this. I get it.
A ship lowers with two lights, scanning for something.
Roz runs with the animals. The sky is yellow.
A goose flies over some sort of city.
Roz crashes through foilage onto a cliff edge with the sky a deep gray. Her eyes are in flashlight mode.
A feather flies through the air. One of her son's? She catches it.
We see a forest background with DreamWorks the Wild Robot in yellow in the foreground.
Now to watch it for the 24th time in good conscience, knowing I've written it down somewhere.

I woke that night to the sound of chaos. Claudia... she was dreaming. Her head, twitching like you would. I can feel her. I can feel her next to me. She's having a nightmare. What's worse than a nightmare? If your soul's projecting out its fears, at least it's up and running. But the absence of anything? The void. The nothing. Pieces... coming back. Hours, nights. Objects surfacing in water.
#interview with the vampire#iwtvedit#jacob anderson#louis de pointe du lac#edits#gifs#this is so fucking insane. how does he act like this! how do they write like this!#also i thought from the trailers this would be like a late season breakdown but first episode? wtf is gonna happen after this? THE FLASH TRAILER BREAKDOWN! Keaton Batman Easter Eggs You Missed!
I’m so happy that Eric Voss tackled this Easter Egg trailer breakdown for this one. He’s easily the best presenter over at New Rockstars, and he really shows DC respect in the way it deserves.
I’m still excited for The Flash, but I’m not going to speculate at all about what has changed from the comic vs the film. I’m just going to go along for the ride, and try to enjoy myself. At this point, I really don’t know what any of the “universes” are doing, and I stopped feeling invested in the long-term storylines years ago.
Plus, fanboys (and fangirls) have pretty much ruined most of the fun and pure enjoyment that comic book films were supposed to bring into our lives -- right now, it’s the D&D fans who know how to truly embrace a film adaptation -- so I feel the best thing I can do for myself is simply engage them on my own and then move on to the next tale.
Anyway ... I also think it’s cute how kid Barry has an awkward run like adult Barry.
