Pangkalan Udara Libya Timur Diserang, 141 Orang Tewas
TRIPOLI (SIB) -Seorang juru bicara pasukan Libya timur, Jumat (19/5) melaporkan, 141 orang tewas, termasuk warga sipil, akibat serangan di pangkalan udara Brak al-Shati. Awalnya diperkirakan 60 orang tewas ketika pasukan milisi yang bersekutu dengan pemerintah berupaya untuk mengambil alih pangkalan Brak al-Shati, hari sebelumnya, Kamis (18/5). Serangan di pangkalan udara Brak Al-Shati menghancurkan gencatan senjata di daerah itu, yang dalam beberapa bulan terakhir menjadi titik konflik antara aliansi militer di Libya timur dan barat. Ahmed al-Mismari, juru bicara Tentara Nasional Libya (LNA) yang berbasis di Benghazi, Libya timur, mengatakan 103 orang yang tewas dalam serangan di pangkalan udara tersebut adalah tentara LNA. Kebanyak dari mereka yang menjadi korba berasal dari Brigade ke-12 yang ditempatkan di pangkalan yang menjadi sasaran serangan. Mereka diserang oleh satu brigade dari kota Misrata, di Libya barat, yang dikenal dengan nama Third Force, yang sebelumnya menguasai pangkalan tersebut. Brigade ini merupakan bagian dengan Kesepakatan Pemerintah Nasional atau Government of National Accord (GNA) di Tripoli. Tentara Nasional Libya LNA, sebuah aliansi di bagian timur negara tersebut yang tidak mengakui pemerintah di ibu kota, Tripoli. Pasukan itu telah menguasai pangkalan sejak Desember lalu. Sebelumnya pada hari Jumat (19/5), wali kota Brak Al-Shati dan seorang sumber medis di kota tersebut menyebutkan, jumlah korban tewas 89 orang. Namun, petugas medis tersebut mengatakan masih banyak mayat belum dibawa ke rumah sakit. Mismari mengatakan mayat-mayat tersebut baru dikumpulkan pada hari Jumat (19/5). Belakangan juru bicara LNA juga mengonfirmasi bahwa jumlah korban tewas seluruhnya 141 orang. Sulit bagi wartawan untuk mengumpulkan informasi secara independen mengenai jumlah korban. Pejabat lokal dan LNA mengatakan beberapa dari mereka yang terbunuh adalah warga sipil yang tampaknya telah dieksekusi dengan begitu cepat. Mohamed Gliwan, juru bicara Third Force, mengatakan kepada TV lokal bahwa tentara LNA yang terbunuh di dalam pangkalan tersebut telah dipersenjatai. Namun, juru bicara LNA mengatakan, "Tentara kami sedang kembali dari sebuah parade milirter. Mereka tidak bersenjata. Kebanyakan dari mereka dieksekusi," katanya. Perdana Menteri GNA Fayez Seraj mengumumkan bahwa dia menskors Menteri Pertahanan Mahdi Al-Barghathi dan Komandan Third Force Jamal Traiki, "sampai ditentukan siapa yang bertanggung jawab atas pelanggaran gencatan senjata". Tripoli telah membentuk komite investigasi untuk menyampaikan temuannya pada perdana menteri dalam waktu 15 hari.
