Toyota, not even a US corporation, is financing the Sedition Caucus â those GOP lawmakers who challenged the results of the presidential election because their Dear Leader was having a hissy fit and threatening to pee in his pants if they didnât.
Because of Toyotaâs collusion with pro-Trump terrorists, columnist Dana Milbank has renamed various Toyota vehicles. Emphasis added.
The 2022 Toyota Previous (formerly Prius). Donât recognize Joe Biden as the legitimate president? Then transport yourself back to a time when America LED THE WORLD in covid-19 deaths and HAD THE GREATEST job losses since Herbert Hoover. Toyotaâs hybrid technology will excite those who want it all: more MPGs (miles per gallon) and more MTGs (Marjorie Taylor Greenes).
The 2022 Toyota Paranoia (formerly Sequoia). Vaccines turning you magnetic? Government confiscating your guns? Mask mandates feeling like the Holocaust? Car and Driver says the Paranoia has best-in-class handling of conspiracy theories and an Adaptive Variable Suspension that allows you to roll over the most stubborn facts in quiet comfort.
Heâs just getting started. đ
The 2022 Toyota Rotunda (formerly Tundra). The Capitol Police will scatter when you drive this bad boy over the barriers and up the West Lawn, smashing right into the Capitol Dome. Its flatbed can carry 1,730 pounds of tear gas, flagpoles, gas masks, fire extinguishers and nooses to use against uncooperative police and lawmakers.
The 2022 Toyota GunRunner (formerly 4Runner). Busted for bringing 11 molotov cocktails, a rifle, shotgun, three pistols, a crossbow, several machetes, a stun gun and smoke devices to the Capitol? Then test-drive the all-new GunRunner. Its many compartments hold all your ammunition â and your pipe bombs, too!
The 2022 Toyota RAV4chan (formerly RAV4). Blocked on Twitter? Banned from Facebook? The RAV4chan gives everybody a way to Gab. Optional 8chan transmission will Telegram your views to even more like-minded drivers.
The 2022 Toyota Homelander (formerly Highlander). White nationalists will love this crossover, which goes from zero to insurrection in just five seconds and is equipped with the Supreme Courtâs latest voter suppression technology, giving you an effortless ride to victory.

It definitely didn't feel even worse than other midsize cars and trucks i have actually remained in recently. Headroom is likewise good, even with the breathtaking moonroof on the sxl i drove. Driving the 2020 Kia Optima The newly redesigned 2016 kia optima, with its blend of driving dynamics and a well-thought-out interior, stays competitive in the definitely cutthroat midsize sedan field. 2020 Kia Optima Interior Kia completely upgraded the optima for 2021, with a bolder exterior and a genuinely luxurious interior. But the kia prevents the mazda's conservative, minimalist styling. A good-looking strip of matte synthetic wood and leather dominates the dash and isn't abnormal in today's market, however like the exterior, little touches both in regards to style and design to help the optima's interior stick out. 2020 Kia Optima Outside Kia didn't make many modifications on the optima's outside, however what they've done is bring a few minor design changes into the mix and create a more exciting and sportier optima in 2020. 2020 Kia Optima Requirement Features The updated optima was used with a brand-new 2. 7l engine, 4-speed automatic (the handbook was dropped), and features such as full leather interior and alloy wheels were made requirement. Can i get led headlights on a 2020 kia optima?. While led headlights aren't available on the lx, s and ex designs, they are basic on the sporty optima sx. 2020 Kia Optima Options I wish there were smaller alternatives, like a vw jetta hybrid with the performance of the kia optima hybrid. In a world of suvs the kia optima sportswagon stands out as one of a decreasing variety of options that are excellent to take a look at and fully equipped. 2020 Kia Optima Engine That's thanks in no small part to the optima's now more rakish profile. Kia minimized the three-box style common of sedans and the three boxes are the trunk, cabin, and engine bay in favor of a sleeker tail. The kia optima lx and s models are powered by a 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder engine that sends 185 horsepower to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Net output: 202 horsepower/276 lb-ft of torque. Epa city/highway fuel economy: 41 mpg combined. How much does the 2020 kia optima cost?.

2022 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid Review
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assistance, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams.TechnologyThe base LE has a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the higher-end finishes come with a 9.0-inch touchscreen. A 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster is also standard, while a 7.0-inch unit is included in some finishes.
Six speakers are standard, but a new JBL speaker system is available as an option. What is the Nightshade edition?Toyota has introduced a night shadow edition with sleek black accents on a variety of vehicles, including the 4Runner, Avalon Hybrid, C-HR, Camry, Corolla, Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundra. New for 2022, the Camry Hybrid Nightshade features black mirrors, window finishes, door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and emblems.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid is one of the few mid-size hybrid sedans on the market today. The current generation debuted for the 2018 model year and receives some upgrades for 2022. As expected, the 2022 Camry Hybrid has significant improvements in fuel economy over the standard Camry, although the traction front is still the only transmission configuration.
No one buys a Toyota Camry for stellar performance, and thatâs true for the hybrid version, too. The sedan has a comfortable ride that protects occupants from bumps on the road, but the steering feels boring. Both the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid are more attractive to drive.
Inside, the Camry Hybrid has a functional design. The touch screen is easy to use with simple menus and few buttons clutter the center stack. That said, rivals offer more impressive technology (the Sonata Hybrid offers a larger touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital-width cluster).
Efficiency is the priority. The Camry Hybrid offers excellent fuel economy, especially in the base model which exceeds 50 mpg in both city and road driving. With strong fuel economy and faster acceleration than the standard gas-powered four-cylinder Camry, this could be the best Camry you can buy. However, we believe that many buyers will be happier with the Honda Accord Hybrid zipper or hyundai Sonata Hybrid loaded with technology.
Fuel efficiency and economy
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery work together to produce 208 hp in the Camry Hybrid. Power is routed via an automatic CVT to the front wheels. When we tested a Camry XSE Hybrid, it reached 60 mph in 7.4 seconds, making it considerably slower than the Honda Accord Hybrid Touring, which completed the race in 6.7 seconds.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid 2022 has a strong fuel economy. The LE exceeds the city / highway models by 51/53 mpg, while the SE, XLE and XSE models have a rating of 44/47 mpg.
Qualifications and security features
The Toyota Camry Hybrid 2022 earns an overall five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. This score includes five stars in all individual crash categories: frontal, side, and rollover tests. The Camry Hybrid 2021 was named Top Safety Pick +2021, the highest award in the IIHS.

The 2021 Lexus ES 250 is comfy like a pair of sweatpants
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/the-2021-lexus-es-250-is-comfy-like-a-pair-of-sweatpants/
The 2021 Lexus ES 250 is comfy like a pair of sweatpants
F Sport trims get these 19-inch wheels.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
The 2021 Lexus ES 250 is more impressive than you might think. After 800 miles in the saddle of this gold-plated Toyota Avalon on a drive to Michiganâs upper peninsula and back, Iâm happy to report the ES is an all-star road-tripper thanks to its comfort, refinement and fuel economy.
Like
Excellent adaptive cruise control
Over-the-road refinement
Cushy accommodations
Good fuel economy
Donât Like
That damn infotainment system
Halfhearted performance
No fold-down seats
Redesigned a few years ago, the ES soldiers on with a few enhancements for 2021. Luxury, F Sport and Ultra Luxury models now come standard with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, a special Black Line model is on the menu and, for the first time, you can get this venerable sedan with all-wheel drive, which comes standard with the base four-cylinder engine. Thatâs the powertrain this example is fitted with, though it also features the F Sport package, which includes unique wheels, a mesh grille insert, other visual tweaks and a retuned suspension setup. Adaptive dampers are also available, though theyâre not fitted here.
The ES 250âs interior is well built and comfortable. The materials employed are mostly high quality, from the supple leather to the aluminum brightwork to the almost organic hole pattern on the speaker grilles. Some not-so-great hard plastic can be spotted if you poke around and the switches that operate the heated and ventilated front seats are buried at the bottom of the center stack and look crude, especially compared to the ingenuous tuning and volume knobs, which are two concentric dials integrated into one assembly. Itâs not a big deal, but I love this little touch because not only does it look cool, it allows you to tune the radio without reaching halfway across the dashboard. I also appreciate this carâs mechanical shifter. Thereâs zero ambiguity to how it functions and you can rest your hand on it while cruising.
In addition to all that, this Lexusâ cushy front bucket seats get two thumbs up. Even after hours in the saddle they leave me feeling refreshed. A boon for passengers, the ESâ backseat is spacious and plenty comfortable, plus it comes with a 12-volt power outlet and a pair of 2.2-amp USB ports so everyoneâs phone can stay fully juiced on long drives. The ES 250 offers 13.9 cubic feet of trunk space, a good amount to be sure, but limiting this carâs versatility, the rear backrest does not fold down. At least a small pass-through is included for lengthy cargo. Curiously, the glovebox is quite small as well, barely large enough to hold the ownerâs manual.
As for tech, the ES comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa compatibility. An 8-inch infotainment screen is included on lower-end models, but a beautiful 12.3-incher is available, which includes embedded navigation. This display looks great, with vibrant colors, good viewing angles and minimal glare. Unfortunately, it is not touch-enabled (yet ), which means you have to navigate Lexusâ tangled infotainment system with a dastardly trackpad on the center console. This arrangement is as distracting as it is difficult. Why the automaker hasnât moved on to something better after all these years is beyond me. As with other Toyota and Lexus products, infotainment tech is this carâs biggest weakness.
A comfy interior with a lousy infotainment interface. At least the upcoming 2022 ES will finally get a touchscreen.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
As you may have guessed based on its name, the ES 250 features a 2.5-liter engine, just like you can get in a Toyota Avalon or Camry. Without a supercharger or turbo to provide extra oomph, this four-pot unit delivers a modest 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Making the most of that output, the engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. That gearbox is mostly agreeable, shifting quickly and readily dropping gears as required to keep things moving, though occasionally it can feel a bit lumpy.
Pressed into luxury-car service, this Toyota engine is perfectly serviceable, but like government bureaucracy itâs devoid of any joy. Uncouth vibrations can occasionally be felt, though more noticeable are the unpleasant noises it generates while laboring, particularly when climbing hills. Of course, this engine is no firebrand, either, moving the ES to 60 mph in a merely adequate 8.6 seconds. But what this carâs powertrain lacks in emotion and verve it largely makes up for with excellent efficiency. This Lexus is rated at 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Combined, it should return 28 mpg, though itâs averaging about 32 mpg in my hands, a damn-impressive score for a large, comfortable, non-hybrid sedan â one fitted with all-wheel drive, no less.
The ES 250âs steering and brake feel are fine to the point of being forgettable. These primary controls get the job done without earning any praise or scorn, which is A-OK in my book. The carâs ride quality, however, is lovely, even without those fancy adjustable dampers. Despite wearing F Sport badges, this Lexus is soft and quiet, floating ever so slightly over large roadway undulations and shielding passengers from nearly all wind and tire noise, even at extra-legal speeds. The dark-finished 19-inch F Sport wheels are a win-win, too, looking swanky without curdling that creamy ride.
This unassuming luxury sedan is super comfortable.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
The adaptive cruise control system with lane centering works phenomenally well, smoothly and attentively adjusting the vehicleâs speed as needed and keeping it locked in the middle of its lane. Other helpful amenities like lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, road-sign recognition and more are also bundled in the Lexus Safety System Plus 2.0 suite of advanced driver aids, which is standard on every model.
The 2021 ES sedan starts at 41 grand and change including $1,025 in delivery fees, which isnât a bad price for a cushy cruiser from a blue-chip brand. As tested, the example seen here checks out for a still reasonable $53,400. Aside from F Sport trimmings, a wireless charging pad ($75), the navigation package ($2,900), LED headlamps ($1,515) and a few other options padded the bottom line. Still, thatâs a more-than-reasonable figure, especially when you consider the average new-vehicle transaction price in the US these days is around $40,000.
Sure, there are a few things to gripe about, but the ES 250 is an agreeable luxury sedan⊠provided your expectations are reasonable. If you desire tire-roasting acceleration or the agility of a superbike you will be sorely disappointed. However, if you drop those pretenses and accept that this is a quiet, cushy cruiser, itâs easy enough to enjoy this Lexus.

2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime First Test: Toyotaâs Best Hybrid Ever
Toyotaâs hybrids have been called many things, but âinteresting,â âfun,â or âfast,â likely hasnât been on that list. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid SUV changes all that. Not only is it arguably the best hybrid Toyota has built to date, but itâs also the quickest non-Supra Toyota weâve tested in the past five years, and the most-efficient Toyota on sale today not wearing a Prius badge.
Whatâs a RAV4 Prime and What Makes It So Quick and Efficient?
The new RAV4 Prime is the plug-in hybrid version of the RAV4. Like the RAV4 Hybrid, the RAV4 Prime sports a 177-hp and 165-lb-ft 2.5-liter I-4 engine mated to electric motors and an e-CVT up front, another electric motor at the rear axle, and a battery pack underneath the rear seats. Thatâs about where the similarities end. The Primeâs motors are more powerful for startersâits front one makes 179 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, while its rear makes 53 hp and 89 lb-ft of torque, with a total combined system output of 302 hp (versus 219 hp combined for the RAV4 Hybrid).
The RAV4 Prime also sports a large 18.1-kWh battery, which, unlike the RAV4 Hybridâs 1.6-kWh battery, can be plugged in. Depending on whether you have the standard 3.3-kW on-board charger or optional 6.6-kW charger (the latter available as part of the $3,765 Premium Package on the top-trim RAV Prime XSE), it can be charged from empty to full in about an hour and a half on a Level 2 240-volt charger, or less than 12 hours on a Level 1 120-volt charger. With a full battery, the EPA says RAV4 Prime can motor for 42 miles on electricity before the engine kicks on, giving the SUV a total driving range of about 600 miles. When accounting for both its motors and engine, the EPA rates the RAV4 at 105/84/94 mpg-e, or 38 mpg combined if you never bother to plug the Prime in and treat it like a RAV4 Hybrid.
How Fast Is the RAV4 Prime?
So, to the test track: In the hands of our well-traveled test team, the RAV4 Prime was surprisingly a bit of a handful as it accelerated from 0-60 mph in an impressively quick 5.5 seconds, and on through the quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds at 98.7 mph. âWell, that was unexpected,â said associate road test editor Erick Ayapana, âThe RAV4 Prime really made me work to control wheel spin, seeming from the rear axle first, and then the front axle. Regardless, this thing feels strong off the line, good pull from start to the quarter-mile finish.â
The RAV4 Primeâs straight-line performance makes it the second-quickest Toyota weâve tested in quite a long timeâthe only vehicle faster has been a 2021 GR Supra 3.0, which needed 4.0 seconds to hit 60 mph and ran a 12.3-second quarter-mile at 115.8 mph (we havenât tested the Supra GR 2.0 yet, itâll likely be quicker than the RAV4 Prime, too). Hot on the RAV4 Primeâs heels is the NASCAR-lookalike V-6-powered Toyota Camry TRD. Its best run was 5.8 seconds to 60 mph and a 14.4-second quarter-mile at 99.8 mph.
Somewhat surprisingly given its heavy 4,372-pound curb weight, the RAV4 Prime performed admirably in our braking and handling tests. In the former, it needed 127 feet in our 60-0 mph emergency stop test, and in the latter it lapped our figure eight in 27.0 seconds at 0.65 g average.
How Does the RAV4 Prime Drive?
Out in the real world, the RAV4 Prime is probably the most impressive Toyota weâve driven since piloting a Land Cruiser through Moab, Utah. Simply, putâit just works. And works well.
With a full battery and left to its own devices in its âAuto EV/HVâ (Electric Vehicle/Hybrid Vehicle) drive mode, the RAV4 Prime easily hits its 42-mile EPA-estimated range, and it feels like a big, comfy electric SUV doing so. Power delivery is relatively quick, and even with the engine off, the Toyotaâs motors never leave you wanting for power. With the engine on, the RAV4 is seriously quick for an SUV in this class, though as Ayapana noted at the test track, the Prime has trouble delivering lots of power smoothly from low speeds as its electronic brain manages power and torque delivery from three separate sources.
The RAV4 Primeâs suspension is softly sprung, which leads to a fair amount of brake dive and rebounding after impacts, but body roll through bends is well-controlled. Notably, the RAV4 Primeâs brakes manage the transition from regenerative to mechanical brakes smoothlyâa balance Toyota has long struggled with on its hybrids. Steering feel is surprisingly tactile and well-weighted.
Whatâs the RAV4 Primeâs Interior Like?
The current RAV4âs interior has been one of our design favorites in the compact SUV segment, and Toyota leaves well enough alone with the RAV4 Prime. The cabin is comfortable, relatively spacious, and unlike some other mainstream plug-in hybrid SUVs (the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, for instance), the battery doesnât eat into cargo space.
Materials quality was great for our loaded RAV4 Prime XSEâs $42,600 starting price ($49,831 as- tested), though there were a few squeaks and rattles coming from the back of the cabin. A slightly-cheaper RAV4 Prime SE is available, too. It starts at $39,425.
The Bottom Line
Ignoring its speed, efficiency, and comfort, the best part about the RAV4 Prime is just how seamlessly it all works. Itâs exactly as engaging (or disengaging) as you want it to be. If you want to just get in after a long day of work and motor on home, itâll comfortably and quietly whisk you away. And yet, if a shot in the arm is what youâre looking for, its surprisingly charming 302-hp powertrain ought to be more than enough to wake you up. The RAV4 Prime, then, is not just a great plug-in hybrid, but itâs also a hugely compelling compact SUV that ought to be on the short list for anyone in the market for new family transportation.

2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is an efficient sedan without compromise
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/2021-honda-accord-hybrid-is-an-efficient-sedan-without-compromise-2/
2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is an efficient sedan without compromise
This fuel-sipping Honda hybridâs front end was slightly tweaked for 2021.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
The Honda Accord is like a blue-chip stock: always a smart buy. For 2021, the hybrid variant makes a strong case that itâs the best all-around model in the Accord range, building on the nameplateâs fundamental excellence by offering far greater fuel economy.
Like
Good low-speed acceleration
Excellent driver aids
Quality trimmings
Roomy interior
Donât Like
Annoying regenerative braking paddles
Real-world efficiency can disappoint
Meh infotainment system
To keep the Accord at the top of its game, this venerable Honda was mildly tweaked for 2021. Its grille is wider, and the Honda Sensing systemâs front-mounted radar sensor is slightly less prominent. Improved headlamps have greater reach and a wider beam pattern for enhanced visibility at night.
As for the hybrid, not much sets it apart from other Accords, at least visually. A blue-accented Honda badge on the grille hints that something a little different lurks under the hood. There are hybrid badges on the front fenders and trunk, and really, thatâs about it. Separating it from more plebeian variants, the top-shelf hybrid Touring model rolls on stylish 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear all-season tires. Despite a tread pattern that looks optimized for fair-weather use, these rubbers handle ice and snowy slop with ease, though a set of winter tires would certainly increase driving confidence.
2021 Honda Accord Hybrid: Miserly motoring without the misery
See all photos
The Accordâs interior is as nice as itâs ever been. The 10th-generation Accord has aged extremely well, basically because Honda did such a phenomenal job from the get-go. Aside from the unconvincing simulated wood accents, the textures are rich, its leather is of good quality and all the switches and knobs feel premium. Ergonomics deserve praise, too, as nearly every control is within easy reach and is clearly labeled.
The 2021 Honda Accord Hybridâs front bucket seats are soft and supportive, plus its rear bench offers miles of legroom. Taller folks will pine for a skosh more noggin space, however. You do sit somewhat low in the Accord, not that your butt is on the floor, the car is just very close to the pavement, which can make getting in and out a challenge, especially for older folks.
Spacious, comfortable and beautifully assembled of high-quality materials, the Accordâs cabin is tough to top, especially in the midsize-sedan segment.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
As for amenities, hybrid models come standard with remote start and a multi-angle rearview camera. Push-button ignition and heated side-view mirrors are included at no extra charge as well, while full LED headlights are standard on the EX grade and higher.
One nice upgrade for 2021 is the infotainment display. An 8-inch touchscreen is now standard across the board, complete with Apple CarPlay (which can connect wirelessly on EX Hybrid models and above) as well as Android Auto. Abstain from using either of these smartphone-mirroring systems and youâll have to contend with the Accordâs embedded infotainment system, which looks pretty dated with its busy interface. Aside from those goodies, the Accord also gains a rear-seat reminder feature to help prevent drivers from forgetting small children, pets or other precious cargo in the back. Low Speed Braking Control is a new feature, too. Standard on Touring models, itâs designed to mitigate or even prevent collisions at lower speeds, such as while parking.
The hybrid powertrainâs small lithium-ion battery pack is mounted underneath the backseat where it eats up no interior space. This means the Accord has the same generous 16.7 cubic feet of trunk volume you get in non-hybrid models, a figure that compares very favorably to the 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which offers 15.1 cubesâ worth of room and the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, which serves up 16.
This carâs powertrain works well, providing plenty of zip without drawing attention to itself.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Bringing this comfortable and capacious family hauler to life is a two-motor hybrid system. Doing most of the work is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, one thatâs backed up by a propulsion motor in addition to a separate motor that handles starting and generating duties. Total system horsepower measures 212, while peak torque clocks in at 232 pound-feet just off idle, figures that put this hybrid between the base Accord with its 1.5-liter engine and the top-shelf version with the 2.0-liter turbo. The hybridâs output figures wonât set the world on fire, but in everyday driving theyâre more than up to the task. Curiously, this hybrid system doesnât have a transmission since, in normal driving, the engine powers a generator, which then runs the propulsion motor. An EV mode allows the car to operate solely on battery power, but at higher speeds, the engine directly drives the wheels through a lockup clutch. VoilĂ , no transmission required.
This Accordâs performance is quite strong; itâs peppier than you might think for something wearing hybrid placards, which is usually shorthand for driving doldrums. Thanks to electric torque, this big sedan scoots around town, pulling with authority when taking off from stoplights and responding nicely when you give it the spurs. Yes, the acceleration does taper off noticeably after about 60 mph where the powertrain gets a bit winded, but it still delivers more than adequate performance. For 2021, small tweaks make the drivetrain more direct and immediate, with the engine better responding to throttle inputs. In fact, aside from a touch of droning at higher speeds when working hard and a bit of that rubber-band effect often associated with continuously variable transmissions, the Accord Hybridâs powertrain feels totally normal.
These wheels are unique to the Touring model.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Touring models, which sit at the pinnacle of the Accord Hybrid range, sticker at 44 miles per gallon city, 41 mpg highway and 43 mpg combined, impressive figures to be certain. Unfortunately, in real-world driving, Iâve only managed to coax about 34.8 out of this example, which is stellar for a large sedan, but still pretty disappointing considering itâs off the mark by more than 8 mpg. I suspect the car would do better in warmer weather, since itâs been pretty cold during my week with it. Lower-end versions of the Accord Hybrid are even more economical than the Touring model, stickering at 48 mpg across the board, which is comparable to the most-efficient versions of the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE, both of which return 52 mpg combined.
Mounted to the steering wheel are two paddles, but theyâre not for shifting. Instead, they allow you to fine-tune the amount of regenerative braking that happens when you lift your foot off the accelerator, which is a great thing to have â in theory. I like maximum regenerative braking for a one-pedal driving experience, however, whenever you roll to a stop, the system resets. It doesnât hold the regenerative-braking level youâve selected and thatâs annoying. Another misstep, the paddles seem to be labeled backwards. Clicking on the minus one increases the amount of deceleration while the one labeled plus decreases it. Iâm not very good at math, but Iâm pretty sure thatâs backwards.
The Accord Hybridâs ride is quite firm, but well controlled. This carâs interior remains hushed at speed, and the chunky steering wheel rim feels great in my hands. This sedanâs weighty-yet-quick steering makes the Accord feel far more agile than you might expect for a car of this size.
The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is one of the best family sedans you can buy today.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Honda Sensing is as good as itâs ever been. This suite of advanced driver aids is one of the best in the business: attentive, smooth and very easy to use. The lane-centering system is phenomenal, helping the Accord track as straight as a San Francisco cable car. The adaptive cruise control works effortlessly, collision mitigation braking is waiting in the wings should you make a critical error and traffic-sign recognition is always there to remind you of how much youâre speeding. EX and higher models also come with blind-spot monitoring, while parking sensors are fitted to EX-L and Touring variants, the latter of which also gains rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Owning a Honda Accord Hybrid is a great way to save money at the pump, but itâs economical in another way, too. The base price is an eminently reasonable $27,565, including $995 in delivery fees. That makes it about $700 less than an entry-level Camry Hybrid and nearly $1,200 more affordable than a comparable Sonata. Even the Touring model Iâm reviewing here with all its bells and whistles checks out for $37,590.
With its spacious interior, upscale trimmings, generous equipment and good performance, the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is an excellent family sedan. But its smooth-running, fuel-sipping drivetrain is what really makes this model the pick of the Accord litter.Â

2021 Toyota Sienna minivan goes hybrid-only with a radical new design
Toyotaâs Sienna minivan has been given a radical, bullet-train-inspired makeover.
Toyota
Itâs been over a decade since the current, third-generation Toyota Sienna minivan debuted, and in recent years, itâs grown a bit stale, overtaken by newer rivals like the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey. But Toyota on Monday officially unveiled the new 2021 Sienna, which has been redesigned from the ground up and is gunning for the minivan segment crown. (See how the 2021 Sienna compares with its rivals in our Sienna, Odyssey and Pacifica spec comparison.)
This fourth-generation Sienna was designed by CALTYâs Newport Beach, California, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, design teams, but it looks wholly Japanese. Toyota describes the new Sienna as âbold, sexy and provocative,â and says the front endâs massive grille was inspired by the Japanese Shinkansen bullet train. More than anything, it reminds me of the awesome, boxy, overstyled JDM minivans that we donât get in the US.
I donât think the Sienna looks as outright aggressive as other recent Toyota models, and thatâs a good thing. The bulging rear fender is lifted from the Highlander but looks more natural and soft here, and there are a number of nice, subtle surfacing changes like the lines coming off the LED headlights. The rear is a bit more angular, with slim LED taillights and a lot of creases, and the tailgate has a slight whiff of a ducktail spoiler. An XSE model (the one shown in red) gets a sportier body kit, dark 20-inch wheels and different interior trimmings.
2020 Toyota Sienna vs. 2021 Toyota Sienna
2020 Toyota Sienna 2021 Toyota Sienna Engine 3.5-liter V6 2.5-liter I4 hybrid Power 296 hp 243 hp (net) Torque 263 lb-ft N/A Transmission 8-speed auto CVT Fuel economy 21 mpg combined 33 mpg combined (est.) Length 200.6 in 203.7 in Width 78.1 in 78.5 in Height 68.9 in 68.5 in
Toyota gave the interior a radical overhaul, too. The automaker says minivan owners donât want to feel like theyâre driving a bus, so the wide dashboard is more similar in design to the brandâs SUVs. Itâs got a high-mounted infotainment display and a nice mix of colors and materials, and it looks more upscale overall. The biggest change is a huge âbridge consoleâ between the front seats thatâs connected to the dash, which Toyota says is positioned for better ergonomics and comfort. That console offers cup holders, a wireless phone charger and some additional storage compartments, while the open area underneath is large enough to fit a purse or a backpack.
But Iâm most interested in the second row of seats. The new Sienna has available as an option Super Long Slide captainâs chairs, which can slide up to 25 inches fore and aft. These reclining seats can be equipped with built-in ottomans, too. Lower trims get three-across seats in the second row with a stowable middle seat. On the top trims the seats are covered in leather with both heating and ventilation for the front two occupants, while the second row can be heated. (The second-row seats arenât removable and canât fold, though, due to integrated side airbags.)
Now playing: Watch this: 2021 Toyota Sienna comes standard with outrageous looks,âŠ
3: 04
New platform, new powertrain
The new Sienna rides on Toyotaâs modular TNGA-K platform, the same one underpinning cars like the Camry, Avalon and Highlander. Compared with the 2020 model, the new generation is 3.1 inches longer overall and rides on a 1.2-inch-longer wheelbase, and itâs slightly wider and a little lower in height. Toyota worked to make the new Sienna quieter and less affected by external vibrations, as well.
For the first time, the Sienna is available as a hybrid â and only as a hybrid. The sole powertrain is the same basic setup found in other Toyota hybrid models like the RAV4, using a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors and a battery pack mounted under the front seats. The Siennaâs hybrid system puts out 243 total horsepower, 53 hp less than the current modelâs V6 engine. But power isnât the point: Toyota says it estimates the 2021 Sienna will get 33 miles per gallon combined, way better than the 21 mpg that the 2020 Sienna gets. It also bests the Odyssey and Pacifica, both of which use V6 engines and get 22 mpg combined.
Toyota wanted the Siennaâs interior to feel less like that of a bus.
Toyota
Not giving the Sienna a plug is intentional, Toyota says, and there are no plans for a PHEV version. A lot of Sienna owners are repeat customers, so the new one needed to feel familiar, with no need to plug it in to achieve maximum efficiency. In addition to the standard three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty, the 2021 Sienna has a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for all hybrid components including the battery.
All-wheel drive is an option on all trim levels, with the system using a separate electric motor for the rear wheels instead of a traditional transfer case and driveshaft (no word on if it adds any extra horsepower). Itâs able to send up to 80% of torque to the rear wheels, and Toyota says the all-wheel-drive model is more agile in the corners. I expect the AWD Sienna to get slightly worse fuel economy than the FWD model, though Toyota hasnât released official numbers.
2021 Toyota Sienna design was inspired by Japanese bullet trains
See all photos
The 2021 Sienna has multiple driving modes including one for EV-only operation (for very short distances at low speeds), and thereâs an adjustable regenerative braking feature that mimics the act of downshifting, ideal for hilly terrain. A new Predictive Efficient Drive feature remembers driving habits, road conditions and repeated routes to optimize when the battery is charged by the hybrid system. This feature is also found in the new 2021 Venza hybrid.
Like the current Sienna, the new one is able to tow up to 3,500 pounds, and it has an available 120-volt AC outlet and 1,500-watt inverter to power gear and accessories. Toyota will offer accessories from Yakima that have been designed for the Sienna including a bike rack, cross bars and a rooftop carrier. Who needs an SUV when you have a minivan?
I donât think itâs a stretch to call this the best-looking Sienna ever.
Toyota
Segment-first tech and features
More than anything, minivans are all about interior functionality, and the 2021 Sienna has it in spades. There are as many as 18 cup holders, six more than the maximum offered by the 2020 model. Standard equipment for every Sienna includes power sliding doors, auto up/down windows, three-zone automatic climate control and second-row sunshades. Climbing the trim level ladder â LE, Limited, XSE and Platinum â adds features like kick-activated sliding doors and power tailgate, four-zone auto climate control, a sunroof, sunshades for the third row and a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel thatâs also heated. The Limited trim gets a built-in vacuum and storage box, while the Platinum replaces the box with a refrigerator.
The âbaseâ infotainment setup is a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa and SiriusXM capability, six speakers and seven USB ports. Moving up in the trim levels adds HD Radio, onboard Wi-Fi, navigation and a 1,200-watt JBL audio system with 12 speakers and a subwoofer. Thereâs an available 11.6-inch rear entertainment system with 1080p resolution and an HDMI input, a remote controller and a pair of wireless headphones. A 7-inch screen in the gauge cluster can show hybrid system info, while an optional 10-inch head-up display can project navigation info, as well.
The new Sienna is longer, lower and wider than before.
Toyota
Toyotaâs Safety Sense 2.0 suite of driver assist features is standard across the board, including automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road sign assist and automatic high beams. Every 2021 Sienna has 10 airbags, including curtain airbags for all three rows and the aforementioned side airbags built into the first and second-row seats. A digital rearview mirror and a 360-degree camera with a curb view are new options, and thereâs also a rear-seat occupant reminder system.
Toyota hasnât released any pricing yet, but the Sienna will go on sale toward the end of the year and will continue to be built at Toyotaâs plant in Indiana. It will have to face still-tough competition in the form of the face-lifted Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey and an upcoming next-gen Kia Sedona. (See how it stacks up against those competitors in our spec comparison story.) But, at least for now, the 2021 Sienna seems poised to be a major contender.

2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line is a hoot and a half
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/2021-hyundai-sonata-n-line-is-a-hoot-and-a-half/
2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line is a hoot and a half
The Sonata N Line is more than just a pretty face.
Emme Hall/Roadshow
Some cars just surprise the hell out of you, and nothing in recent memory has taken me aback quite like the 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line. What I thought was going to be a nice midsize sedan with a little more power is actually a properly sporty car.
Like
Excellent powertrain and chassis
Super fun to drive
Great style and tech
Donât Like
Some torque steer
Rough around town
Real quick, a word about the letter N. The Sonata N Line isnât a full-bore N, like the Veloster N or upcoming Elantra N and Kona N. Instead, think of this as N-lite, just like the Elantra N Line and the new Kona N Line and Tucson N Line. Got it? Good.
A practiced eye will quickly spot the differences between the Sonata N Line and its more staid counterparts, though the changes are definitely subtle. Thereâs a new grille up front with larger air intakes, and the Sonataâs awesome daytime running lights remain intact. Around back, the N Line gets quad exhaust pipes and a redesigned bumper and diffuser. New wheels round out the changes, and overall, while these upgrades arenât major, the N Line looks just as good as any other new Sonata.
The big upgrades start under the hood, where the Sonata N Line gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, the same one youâll find in the Genesis G80 and GV80, as well as the Kia K5 GT and refreshed Stinger. Here, itâs tuned to deliver 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which youâll also find in the Veloster N and Elantra N.
The Sonata rips off the line; itâll do a front-drive burnout without even trying. But strong and powerful as the engine is, the sedanâs chassis is the real star of the show. The N Line dives into corners, and while the suspension keeps the Sonata taut and planted in corners, itâs not so stiff that it results in a choppy ride over broken pavement.
The N Line-specific 19-inch wheels look awesome.
Emme Hall/Roadshow
The steering is direct and communicative, and itâs also nice and heavy, which definitely adds to overall involvement. Yeah, thereâs a ton of torque steer because of the front-wheel-drive layout, but itâs easily managed, and honestly, it just makes me laugh.
In Sport Plus mode, the dual-clutch transmission will downshift under braking, though you donât necessarily need this aggressive shift pattern with how much torque is on tap. Besides, Sport Plus automatically turns off the traction control, which is odd, especially since thereâs no limited-slip differential, meaning thereâs a lot of wheel spin while cornering if you arenât careful. Sport mode keeps traction control on and still offers super-quick shifts. Itâs the way to go.
My tester is shod with Hyundaiâs optional 245/40-series Continental Premium Contact 6 summer tires, wrapped around 19-inch wheels. The summer tire option adds $200 to the Sonataâs bottom line, but itâs money well spent considering the extra grip these rubbers offer.
Nothing wrong with this cabin.
Drew Phillips
I will say, though, great as the Sonata N Line is on a winding road, it can be a little tough around town. It occasionally feels skittish and jumpy, and the brakes are grabby. At least the N Line comes standard with a bunch of great driver-assistance technologies, including Hyundaiâs hands-on Highway Assist that centers the car in its lane, navigating around curves and using adaptive cruise control to handle braking and acceleration. Itâs not a silky smooth cruiser, but if thatâs your priority, just get the standard Sonata.
The N Lineâs EPA-estimated fuel economy figures arenât too shabby, either: 23 miles per gallon city, 33 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined. Good luck achieving those, though. Drive the Sonata N Line with gusto and youâll regularly see numbers in the low 20s.
Aside from N Line-specific sport seats, this Sonataâs interior is just like any other. Sure, thereâs some red contrast stitching and some N badges, but thatâs about it. Thankfully, thereâs plenty of space up front, the back seat is roomy and the 16 cubic feet of trunk space is more than ample.
The N Line gets the Sonataâs best infotainment tech, with a snappy multimedia system housed on a 10.2-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. My colleagues like this system for its ease of use, but I often find that simple commands require extra taps. For example, I canât cancel my current route directly from the navigation map. I have to dig into the navigation menu to do so. Further, the icons are small and easy to miss when tapping around the screen while driving. But hey, I can listen to the sounds of nature app that includes ambient noise from a snowy day, a beach, a rainstorm, a forest and, curiously, an outdoor cafe. So, bonus I guess?
This is a seriously fun-to-drive sedan.

There arenât any option packages for the Sonata N Line, aside from some nicer paint colors and the aforementioned summer tires. With its Quartz White exterior and better tires, my tester comes out to $34,655 including $1,005 for destination. Yes, thatâs more than $10,000 above the starting price of a base Sonata, but this car is still a tremendous value.
Think of it this way: The Sonata N Line technically competes with cars like the Toyota Camry TRD and turbocharged Honda Accord and Mazda6, but itâs way better to drive. Youâre getting a car thatâs closer to Acura TLX and BMW 3 Series levels of enjoyment, and those cars cost a whole lot more. No, the N Line isnât perfect, but it punches way above its weight and has all of the standard Sonataâs great infotainment and safety tech, to boot. This Hyundai might not immediately come to mind as a solid sport sedan, but trust me, you should drive one. It might surprise you.
