Despite its flaws and relative obscurity, I love this little series and I love this little pairing. I only wish there were more of it.

My (heavily biased) Review of Jiu Jiu
Okay, I know I'm really late to this party, but lemme just talk about Jiu Jiu for a little bit.
As a fan of both Tobina Touya's other stories (Clean Freak Fully Equipped, Sarashi Asobi) and her art style, I was REALLY disappointed by this series, or rather, the ending of this series.
It started out great! Takamichi was a badass demon hunter, though she treated Night and Snow like animals and Snow and Night were adorable. And then we got some character development and Takamichi learned to love and care for the two and not be super cold all the time. We also got a lot of really great characters and we got to see how Night and Snow's love for Takamichi was developing even more.
AND THEN the last two volumes come along and everything starts to be a mess. Takamichi is acting completely out of character, looking super cutesy and making all those stuffed toys of Night and Snow and blushing all the time with sparkly eyes. We only get to see her hunt like one monster and she was assisted in that by Ripple and White! Also, her boobs doubled in size. Yeah, Tobina has a lot of inconsistencies in her art, but this one in particular bugged me.
Now, it was apparent that the feelings Night and Snow were developing for Takamichi were more than just platonic. More so in Night's case, I would say. (But then again I am heavily biased because Night is my favorite character in the whole series.) But anyway, the way Night smiled at her with that blush in his cheeks was something only he did. Snow smiled at her. A lot. But to me it seemed more like a friendly sort of smile, more like family. Night was also very over-protective of her when the topic of her arranged marriage arose. Now, this is completely debatable as this is just how I was interpreting things, but to me, it seemed like the series was heading toward an ending where Takamichi got together with Night. I feel like, while Snow DID love her, it was not quite to the extent that Night did. And this series did spend a lot of time delving into Night's (romantic) feelings for Takamichi. (The diary, his glasses, how he thought he couldn't compete with her fiance because Night knew her for less time, how he vowed to be more forward about his feelings, etc.) So that was the direction I was expecting this to head in.
Then we got the last volume which was a mess of confusing plot twists that did nothing for the story and an even more confusing ending. Yes, a good ending should leave one asking questions, but when you've got way more questions than you do answers then I would most certainly not call that a good ending.
The whole thing with Takayuki not being dead and then being dead again and then suddenly showing up at the end made no sense to me whatsoever. (Anyone who does understand, would you care to explain?)
The fact that Snow and Night just turned into regular wolves because they were too sad as humans seemed like a bunch of B.S. to fix the messed up love hexagon that Takamichi had going for her. (Got two suitors out of the way without even trying very hard. Woohoo) SERIOUSLY though, Tobina, you go through all that beautiful character development with these two adorable wolves who are learning to be and feel like humans and then you reverse it all and all that freaking character development is lost!! And where exactly did it go? hell if I know! They're just wolves now, they don't remember any of it. tee hee.
And then Takamichi's pregnant?? She is wearing an engagement ring, so I assume she got married but it never clearly states to who and whether or not the person she married is the one she had her children with. I analyzed the pages closely (I have no life, leave me alone) and I noticed that Mika was actually wearing an engagement ring as well (vol. 5, pg. 182, 1st panel. Mika is pointing with his left hand. That is an engagement ring, friends.) so I'm just going to assume that he was the one she married in the end. He was actually my second pick, but I digress, this whole baby thing was still confusing as hell.
AND LAST, at the end, suddenly Night and Snow are back to being human (albeit older) and acting like nothing ever happened?!?!
Okay, I can't talk about this anymore without it becoming completely incomprehensible. (probably already was) Please, if anyone has any explanations for all this crap, do tell! Also if you have any other things to say, I would be happy to chat with you.

Guys, guys, GUYS!~
Have you read the manga called Sarashi Asobi?
It's by the mangaka Touya Tobina that did Jiujiu. SA is SO good. Especially the bonus chapter that comes with the final volume, Lunch. Wow. Wowowoww.
Tobina-sensei's storytelling is superb. I haven't read a good shoujo manga in a long while. What's pretty dang awesome is that she excells in the supernatural genre.
The story centers around a shinigami. He's bored with his job so what he does to entertain himself is by playing a certain game called the Exposing Game. He takes a particular interest in his next client, a high school girl that's misunderstood by everyone in her school--but in reality, she is a truly kind individual. In this game that he plays, he exposes the person's most inner thoughts, and this is what he does to her. The days pass and, something interesting grows between the two.
As cliche as the story seems, it's all but not. She takes it another step and--well, you'll just have to read for yourself.
^THISSSS! Please read it. Pleasepleaseplease. It's on mangafox~ All the chapters are out too so you don't have to wait for the next one.
It left me absolutely breatheless.
Here's a direct link for you: [click here please]
