International students in Toronto will be adversely affected by an impending federal rule that will limit them to working 24 hours a week off-campus when school is in session, students and advocates say. Immigration Minister Marc Miller said last spring the new rules would take effect in September, however a spokesperson for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada said in an email that the federal department is still working toward implementing the regulatory changes this fall. They could not provide a more specific timeline.  Miller previously said the 24-hour cap will ensure international students can focus on their studies, while having the option to work. "Students who want to come here have to realize that they can only work 24 hours in order to offset some of their costs or bring the material resources themselves when they come here," Miller said on April 29.

This would affect around 1.5 million Americans in Michigan and other states close to the border.
He then pretty much immediately followed up the announcement by saying he was considering giving the cops the right to forcefully remove homeless encampments. So. One step forward a dozen steps back
Trump reportedly responded to the sanctions by saying it was “fine”. Personally (opinion here forwards) it probably isn’t good to cut off power to 1.5 mil Americans (which will def affect the lower class pretty heavily) but Doug Ford actually might be doing something to try to help Canadians for possible the first time in his political career??

People ask what it's like being in a band with your brother and I think, "What about being on a building site in January when it's hailstoning -- with your dad and your two brothers and two of our cousins and two of your uncles and you fuckin' hate the lot of them?" We'd turn up at work in this yellow transit van, all sat in the back like this (elbows on knees, head down, looking surly). Because we were always arguing we'd still be working at nine o'clock every night. Then we'd argue about whose fault it was we were late and then, when we got home, mam'd had the dinner in the oven for hours and she'd start kicking off. Years of just rowing. We were the Clampetts, the Burnage Hillbillies. I quit and got a job with a building firm who sub-contracted to British Gas. And the pivotal moment of my entire life was this: a big steel cap off an enormous gas pipe we were laying fell on my right foot and smashed it to bits. When I came back from the sick, they gave me a cushy job in stores handing out bolts and wellies. Nobody would turn up for days on end. After about six weeks I started bringing me guitars in and I wrote four of the songs from the first album in that storeroom. I look at this foot sometimes in the winter when I get chills in it because of the cracked bones, and I go (thumbs up and big grin at his foot).

New management was jerking him around at the same time he was emotionally broken from his wife's miscarriage, so it was bound to break. No sense in waiting around to be fired as all ppl are at these big companies.

Grocery workers at a Greater Toronto Area warehouse walked off the job Saturday as negotiations between union officials and a major supermarket chain broke down.
The union representing workers at a Sobeys distribution centre in York Region began strike action after rejecting what the Teamsters 419 union called a “lowball offer ” that removed job security.

Scrimbly Jacqueline 50/52: the long bacon store is one of Dite's FAVOURITE places 🤭🤭💙💗
@kscribbs sent me the meme on insta like. two months ago and FIRST OFF, post looking it up, HOW DID I MISS THIS ONE! Secondly, we are now two for two with old memes in these scrimbles, lmao!
The lesbian pride flag is Dite's favourite of the lgbtqia plus flags! She likes pink very very much, you see :)
Her winter jacket is based on this pin. Fun fact! Dite actually has a pinterest board! Not sure if I've ever shared it? I haven't updated it in YEARS lol, now all that shit's mixed into my TO DRAW tag which I will be attempting to tackle ah, next year, lol.
Poor Jacqueline. Can't even keep it together for five minutes when visited by her gf on the job ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
