Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

We did it babes. We made it to end of the year.

This was a light reading year, mostly because I had a lot big stuff happen in my life (graduated from grad school, started a full time job, moved apartments), BUT I managed to finish 20 books this year.

My absolute favorite has to be Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston. It changed my life. It’s an instant classic in my mind. You’d think with all the various ideas explored, this novel wouldn’t work as well as it does, but she’s perfect.

My top three overall are: 1. Dead Romantics 2. Wolfsong 3. Greywaren

My most disappointing read this year was When Katie Met Cassidy. Poor writing, bad rep, and just generally unlikeable characters.

Now. My 2024 reading goals:

1. I would love to be more active on this page. I am not in school anymore, meaning I have more free time to read, and frankly it’s just fun to talk about books.

2. I’d like to read more classics. I know everyone makes this a goal, and I’m not going to force myself to engage in anything I don’t enjoy, but I would like to grow my literary knowledge.

3. Read. My. Shelves. I want to try to avoid buying a lot of books this year and instead focus on reading the MANY books I already own. I’ve created a list of the ten books I need to read this upcoming year, and most of them come from my shelves.

August Reading Wrap Up

ya’ll calling a headcanon a ‘mischaracterization’ is so funny bc Tim Drake drinking 40 gallons of coffee a day is a headcanon and Duke Thomas having 0 personality and being the ‘normal’ one is a mischaracterization but ya’ll seem to only have a problem w the first one.
