Masterlist: “Danger & Star, Rooster & Angel” — Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x Female Mitchell OC
Summary: 26-year-old Lucy Asa Mitchell did not know what was in store for her when she first bumped into Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. After an instant mutual connection followed by a sweet whirlwind romance that swept both their feet, Lucy found herself being immersed deeper into Bradley’s world of the Navy, F-14s, and deployments. What she didn’t expect was finding was the answer to an elusive part of her past — the identity of her long-lost father.
Keywords/Warnings: Romance, definitely NOT slow burn, both smut and implied smut (if you’re not 18, go away), Drama, descriptive writing (more show than tell), some religious themes but not dominating (OC is Catholic), mention of hospitalization, imminent death, and missing loved one, possible inaccuracies about deployments and marine biologists.

Iceman. Ice cold, no mistake and—wait he has a kid?! | Top Gun Fanfic ❄️
Summary: The day people find out about Iceman’s private life would be the day he makes sure, he knows it firsthand. In other words, Tom Kazansky meets his future wife the day his fellow pilot finds out about his daughter.
Established father daughter relationship: Iceman & Skysolo
Pairing: Tom “Iceman” Kazansky x Hazel "Daredevil" Quinn
Note: Pre-Top Gun Maverick, so Amber Kazansky is around 5-7 years old
——
There were many things Iceman was, or least how he presented himself to people. Strong, levelheaded, flies ice cold and no mistake if he had a say in it.
Some people were honest a bit scared of the man, might even idolized him, and even rather intimidated to say the least due to his looks.
Yeah sure he was rather layback and chill, cracking a few wisecracking jokes with his teammates and family. Swearing his cheeky smile with pride. Ask Maverick or Slider, they’ll tell ya the truth to that showing smile.
But one thing that Iceman made sure was to keep his private life separate from his aviation one. At home, he was just Tom. Tom Kazansky.
And there is a reason why.
His daughter.
Amber Nic Kazansky.
His angelcake, his little snowball, and his reason to keep fighting. His angel eyes. He kept her private from the public eye, safe and sound in his arms. Mentioning his kid every once in a while at work but people always assumed he was talking about Maverick’s kids or Goose’s son.
Because he was considered their uncle, to everyone on base.
But they don’t ever assume his own. He didn’t blame them, he never specifically said his daughter name out loud to the masses to hear. Only his close family and friends knew about Amber’s existence. She was one of Maverick’s sweethearts afterwards and Slider’s little glamorous girl.
And if ever did his angel eyes to work, he made sure she never left his sight. It was a big place, she could get lost however Amber was smart enough to know her way around the base too, even if Tom liked it or not…
Such as today.
Tom wasn’t supposed to have work that weekend, it was Sunday for gods sake but his bosses had other plans for the Lieutenant Commander. He was called in to finalize some paperwork, check on installations and probably head to some meetings. Which meant he would be stuck in his office for most of the day.
Tom sighed, knowing he had no choice but to bring Amber with him due to Maverick being busy and his sister being in another freaking state. However he didn’t mind the company, since he was able to show his daughter the planes, possibly getting to see a familiar face such as Wraith or Hollywood, look at the frames on the wall and the view of the building from where they were standing.
And to be honest, Amber loved it. She was shy about it all but she couldn’t help but grin. Her eyes sparkled at the huge planes, the classrooms filled with aviators, the darling style of the technology they had and clean cut frame of the building.
Tom stayed in his office playing the radio and doing paperwork with Amber by his side sitting in the blue beanbag beside from desk. Even though Tom was working, he pauses writing on a form hearing his 7 year old curls bounce as she sang one of the songs on the radio as she played with her Barbie dolls.
“And here we go, we know the start, we know the end!” She sang, brushing her doll’s hair with such passion, “Masters of the scene. We’ve done it all before and now we’re back to get some more..”
“You know what i mean.” Tom sang along softly, twirling his pen in between his finger grinning, “Voulez-Vous!”
One thing was sure was how much she loved singing ABBA’s popular songs when it came on the radio. She definitely got it from her aunts and uncles, he can’t blame her. When music like that starts playing it becomes contagious, where you just have to sing along.
Amber stood up from her beanbag chair and started to twirl around, dancing holding out a hand for Ice to take. He hesitated cause he was at work but he shrugged, removing himself from his seat taking his daughter’s hand and twirl her around. Her infectious laugh and cheeky grin matched her father’s gracefully.
The two of them, dancing until the song was over and radio played Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5. Tom returned back to his desk, twirling the pen back in his hand chuckling. Meanwhile Amber went to grab the grapes that were packed in her bag as she sat down and ate, looking out the window at the planes.
———
A few short hours later, Slider walked in greeting his niece and best friends, sitting down to talk with Ice over the planes they would flying next weekend. Amber was finally starting to get bored and begging her father to walk around the base with him. She wanted to spend time with him or her uncles to explore for a while, instead of being laying around in an office.
Slider noticed the look on his niece’s face and said, “Oh come Tom, it’s just a little walk to see the other side of base. I know your overprotective but cut the baby some slack.”
“Ron. I know that, she’s been here before she could walk but what if she gets lost, huh? Half of people don’t even know about her.” Tom explained, with a sigh.
“She’ll be fine! Won’t you, baby?”
“Slider!”
“Ice! We’ll have fun, right babygirl?”
Amber smiles, “Yeah! Daddy pleaseeee! I will be careful.”
With a sigh, he nodded and replied, “Alright. Okay, you can go and explore the base but be careful. I don’t want you getting lost or get both of you and your uncles in trouble.”
“No promises. They are a bunch of cowboys like you said.”
“Clever girl. And watch your tone.”
Slider chuckled taking his niece’s hand and teased his best friend on how they’re gonna cause some trouble. Probably even bring Goose and Mav along for the ride. Ice just rolled his eyes and chuckled at them.
Ron knew that his niece was very important to his pilot’s life and understood why he’s been overprotective of her since day one. He was a single father, yeah sure their friends were there too but Tom was the main caretaker of his daughter’s life. Of course he wanted her safe and sound wherever she is. It was also a private part of his life, that he wanted to maintain calm and not go off the rails.
But like everything, change happens and surprises come along the way. Weather he liked it or not.
He was talking to Hollywood when it did, keeping Amber close by the tarmac of the planes. Hollywood was kneeling down to the girls height, letting her play with his helmet in the meantime.
Both men were chatting about the way the newer pilots almost got jet washed during training session a couple of days ago and how they needed to tweak the planes safety alerts. Amber was holding Hollywood’s helmet and enjoying the colors when something caught her eye. More like someone.
On the tarmac, drew out a nice sliver dollar plane as if someone just gotten off the skies and landed on the ground. She caught wind of the small wave of damage the plane got on the edges but the man—no women, since she removed her helmet, who step out of cockpit, climbing out of the darn thing had some trouble finding grin on her.
She didn’t know if to be impressed or intimidated by her.
Dark locks like her uncle Mav, a dark olive green jumpsuit like all the other aviators and attention grabbing attitude towards the person she was talking to. Amber didn’t get a good look at her face though. So in her brain, she couldn’t if she was good news or not.
She was taken out of her gaze, following her uncle Slider and Hollywood inside still holding the helmet. Slider was called by Viper for something real quick, leaving her with Hollywood. Amber got a bit annoyed at that, she wanted to explore but she got stuck sitting on a bench instead.
It was half bad, due to her and Hollywood talking about the latest movie she saw.
Since her dad and uncles took her, Bradley, Austin, Jenny and Dane to see a rereleased of The Empire Strikes Back. The kids haven’t seen those movies yet, so it was their first time. But Hollywood couldn’t go cause he was too busy so he couldn’t, instead Wolfman went taking his place.
“And then Luke fought Darth Vader! Austin screamed saying he could do it better than him. And I said ‘no you can’t!’ but he didn’t believe me.” Amber exclaimed with a laugh, “Why did Leia kiss Luke then Han in the movie?”
Hollywood chuckled at her enthusiasm for the movie and repiled, “Well he did to prove a point to Han. But you kids will have to watch the next one to find out what happens. Did your Aunt Carole or Drey took you to see The Little Mermaid yet?”
“No! They said we gotta wait for they can buy it and we can watch it at home. But I wanna see it.”
“How about I see if I can get Drey to change her mind? How does that sound? She owes me a date anyway.”
Amber giggled at that and nodded, suddenly she had to use the restroom and Hollywood pointed to go down the hallway, next to the double doors. He watched her from where he was standing, smiling.
———
After she used the restroom, Amber noticed that Hollywood wasn’t there anymore but on the other end of the hallway talking with Wolfman. She rolled her eyes and grunted, rushing her with a glare to Hollywood.
“Hey! You said you’d wait for me.” Yelled Amber, tugging at his pant leg with a glare that similar to Iceman.
Expect that glare had a hint of fire within them, like there was smoke behind the ice cold blocks. Wolfman noticed it and would’ve chuckled if he wasn’t a bit confused about Amber being here. He was sure he saw her walking with Slider earlier.
“I’m sorry, kiddo! I got caught up with Wolf, he will telling me something important.” Hollywood apologize, for his mistake but he still saw the glares.
He noticed Amber walking away, her temper and annoyance getting the best of her. All she wanted was a small walk around the base with someone like her aunts or uncles but they were more or less distracted with work. She couldn’t even blame them for being caught up with work but she was smart enough to know she deserves some attention and respect.
Hollywood and Wolfman chased after the 7 year old, as her blonde locks bounced across the hallways of the base finding herself in the wonders of the building. She pushed her bangs past her eyes, popped up her collar of her jacket.
A few mutters and mumbles could be heard of people asking who’s child was that around the corner, as she stopped in front of the rows of pictures frames displaying days of older class photos. From 1960s to now. She blocked out the whole noise of officers, captains, commanders and even some lingering lieutenants who walked past her.
She saw a few pictures frames of planes her favorite was the Tomcat due to the display of grays and or blues, speaking volumes of the way it swords the skies and classic modeling that carried two passengers. She knows her uncle Mav had small miniature replicas near the speakers at his house, telling the kids to not play with them.
She wasn’t one to absolutely desire the trill of piloting one of those lovely things. But she wouldn’t mind being in the backseat of one, watching them go fast and the high from being in the clouds. Hell, her uncle Merlin and Maverick took her in one of those for a quick joy ride before her surprise birthday party last year. They were only off the ground for a few minutes, nothing special but it was fun.
Amber sighed, smiling softy at the pictures wishing she wasn’t alone but with her uncles. Like Merlin, Maverick, Slider or even her uncle Buzz. But then again, she did run away from them and they were busy.
She heard a loud, “Kazansky!” as she wiped her head around to see Jester and Stinger talking probably searching for her father.
As one of their fellow members, said that he was in his office and heading to a meeting.
She even heard Cain’s voice yelling “Maverick! Kazansky better get say something good about you and Merlin’s flying today or so god help me!”
She was rather shy but curious, when it came to things like this. Her uncle Mav always got into trouble for his interesting, in color words to say the least, flying skills. She winced hearing the yelling of her last name and others across the hall, as you can hear plenty muffled noises in between. Amber didn’t like it, so she glanced at the pictures once again, this time being of the 86’ class and ran finding herself outside of a briefing room.
She knew the room she stood outside of, being the same one her dad’s higher rank, Viper, taught the 86’ class in. Well it was very much similar, at least. She stood on her tippy toes at the window, looking inside to find it empty inside but the door easily locked.
It was across the small hallway her father would possibly be having his meeting in. Amber instead of boring herself, she found herself wondering outside the window playing with one of the tiny toy Blackbird plane, she had in her pocket that she took her father’s desk at home and placed it against the glass window pretending to fly it.
She giggled to herself softly using imagination and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is Officer Kazansky speaking. I will be showing here the flight manners, I liked to call a barrel roll. And if you’re lucky, you can surprise the other pilots with this one by sneaking up on them.”
Little did she know, some female works were walking past her and listening giggling catching onto her last name. Some were confused even shocked, plenty around it adorable and others were jealous thinking that Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky was secretly taken if that was really his kid.
——
Just as Ice was about to enter his meeting with Jester, Cain and Stinger to explain his wingman actions up in the sky, Slider went rushing in as as Maverick was about to head inside.
“H-HEY! I-Ice, we got a little—” Slider began to explain what he heard from Hollywood and Wolfman, but was surely cut off.
“Where’s my kid?” Tom asked, looking over his shoulder and around for his daughter.
“I was just about to get to that. Long story short, I left her with Holly for a while and when I came back, he and Wolf said she was gone.”
“Gone or ran? Amber ain’t gonna run out unless something happened.”
Maverick cut in, “Wait! Amber’s here?! In the building?! Slider what’s wrong with you?”
“Hey! It wasn’t my fault Viper called me earlier into his office, so I left her with the guys! They said she ran from them as the two started to chase her down." Slider said, telling the shorter pilot.
“Find her! I don’t care about myself right now, I’ll take the heat like always but Jester would be more mad that you guys left a child unattended in the building.”
Tom shared a look with his wingman, something both him and Mav knew all too well, the panic, fear and annoyance at the thought of their children missing. Slider or some of their friends didn’t get it yet, since not all of them were parents but they had nieces and nephews. Slider was of course one step ahead of them, saying that he already sent some of the guys to go search the blonde.
Maverick gave Ice a soft smile, “Hey. They’ll find her, if not we’re leave the meeting early and get her ourselves.”
Tom’s eyes were turning ice cold with a glare that somewhat soften at his words nodding, then entered the meeting quietly. Iceman being too quiet wasn’t a good thing for anyone, it meant his mind was racing around with throughs to rush out and resume work for another day. But had to stay focused, he knew Slider and the others were on the case. Maverick was frustrated by it all, yelling for Merlin who walked past by to see if he saw Amber, who shock his head but went searching for her…
———
The girl in question was walking around the base, passing a few short notice offices and lounges to find not many familiar faces. She was getting shyer and slightly curious as the moments went on, regardless she knew she got herself in trouble by running away. Amber eventually stumbled upon an office that brought a soft smile to her face. She gently knocked on the door, fixing her jacket and holding her plane in one hand.
It open to reveal the man who this office belong to brown mustache, deep brown eyes and tipped baseball cap staring at her. Mike MetCalf, Viper, looked down at her blinking twice at her small figure. He heard a few of his 86’ class rushing across the building yelling and shouting softly a few words, as it clicked in his head. They was looking for her.
He kneeling down in front of her, noticing the same deep look as her father, covered with blushing tears as if she was trying not to shed any. He put a hand on her shoulder, “Amber, sweetheart. What happened?”
“I..I ran away..fr-from..from Hollywood and Wolfy..” She replied with a small voice, a soft glare trying to keep her tears from falling.
“That’s wasn’t the right move and you know it. I don’t know why you did it but you weren’t supposed to that..”
“I know…”
“Come on.”
He takes her hand, leading her inside his office as he lead her to the counter against the wall near the window. He told her to stay there, as he was in middle of a conversation with an pilot at the moment. She looked up at the pilot, Viper mentioned, as she titled her head remembering the dark hair women from eariler. This time, she saw her face.
She was looking right at her.
Her rather soft features combined with rich one such as the woman’s nose and eyebrows that curled in a way as if she was analyzing the situation. There was something about this women that made Amber not know if she would be scared or shy about her, as she looked away from the brunette.
Viper noticed the looks and said, “Amber Nic Kazansky, meet Hazel Quinn. One of our pilots here, she’s been here before months ago but transferred recently to hopeful longer stay.”
This time the women—Hazel, looked at Amber with a slight difference, analysis of her state with soften concern and worry for the young girl. Hazel looked at Amber, twisting in her chair and standing up to sit beside the little girl. She noticed her glares, her last name ringed bell. Iceman. Flies ice cold, no mistakes.
She never met the man or even seen pictures but heard about him. If though he never met him, she can see the results of his child from the blonde hair to the eyes. But there was a sweetness that Hazel read to her face, a loving and gentle pace to the girl. A doll that needed to be protected. She can only imagine what made this girl run away but she might have an idea coming from a family who lend their lives to the military herself.
Hazel smiled softly, “Hi.”
“Hey..” replied Amber, looking up at the women.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?”
“Y-yeah I’m fine…how about you?”
“I’m alright but you don’t seem like your fine.”
“I’m fine..”
“…look, I guess you don’t want to tell me what happened cause we just met. But whatever it is, you should at least tell someone. They will try to understand.”
Amber stayed silent, her smoking glares still knees deep she wanted to say something like a witty comeback or a rude interception of her works but she didn’t.
Hazel contained her obvious observations and continued, “Okay I’ll humor you. I bet that you wanted to spend time together with your father or uncles but they got too busy, playing hand off with you instead? You wanted some kind of respect and attention today but didn’t get it or know to tell your guardian at the moment about it.”
That seemed to soften Amber up, as she looked over her shoulder and nodded, she left like she wasn’t exactly scared around this women but somehow understood and willing to listen. I guess what they say is true, sometimes a complete stranger can be the easiest person to talk to than anyone else closer to you? Huh? Hazel watched her, waited for her to say something as she noticed Amber tuned to face better and explain.
She told her, everything about how she wanted to spend time walking around the base and explore with her family members but she really secretly wanted was some more moments with her dad. But she understood he was busy today, since he originally wasn’t supposed to come into work at all for that matter. Amber couldn’t blame him and didn’t even bother to say anything but it sounded like she was annoyed with that fact herself. She knew Viper was listening, as she watched her in a way he looked at his own children and godson.
Hazel wanted to give this little lady a hug because she knew that feeling all too well herself, wanting to spend time with her parents but they were busy sometimes with military assistance. But she could tell from how Amber spoke of her father, she loved him very much and wasn’t even mad at his efforts, as if she knew she will get her attention soon enough.
————
And she was right. Because less than a half a second later, you could 8 rushing footsteps and yelling of 4 men, possibly even 5 at Viper’s doorstep.
“Amber!” Yelled the voice. As the girls turned around to see Tom Kazansky—no, Iceman, standing there with his hand on the doorknob with a mix of anger, worry and deep questions laced across his face. He continued, “Sweetheart what were—”
“I’mma stop you right there, flyboy.” Said the only female voice in the room, being Hazel, who stood up from the couch facing Iceman with a hand hovering his chest to pause him.
It was as if the room fell silent for a millisecond.
This brunette just stop Tom Kazansky in his tracks. The Iceman. Hollywood and Wolfman were just outside the door, as you only heard a small sniff or murmured noise coming from there. Wolfman blinked confused then recognize the voice, knowing who she was.
She was like a female Maverick but with a strong levelheaded voice, dark humor and a wildly competitive side to boot.
Princess Leia but in aviator form in simpler words.
Slider cough slightly, standing there awkwardly entering the room to check up on Amber’s current state that matched his own. They were both staring at Daredevil and Iceman, who just locked eye on another.
Tom’s ice cold glares that tend to be laced with deep fried anger watching all the angles in the room, locked eyes with the brunette. She was breathtaking. Stunning in every way possible due to the way she challenged him at the moment.
From her short brown hair with feather bangs that almost fell over eyesight that she didn’t even bother to fix. Rich blue eyes. Craved out cheekbones that enchanted her beauty. Along with the nude, almost red lip that she carried added to her frame.
It took a moment for Ice to contain his combating composure and focus on the task at hand. But dear god was this women gorgeous in his eyes!
Tom cleared his throat, scoffed with a slight chuckled and said, “I’m sorry, who might you be?”
She crossed her arms, with a light smile pointed across her face with a stance and replied, “Hazel ‘Daredevil’ Quinn. One of your new Lieutenant Commanders, sir. I’m assuming that she’s your daughter?”
“Yeah, ma’am, she is. I apologize if she intercepted your and Viper’s conversation earlier. She almost gave me a scare..”
She scoffed, “Some father. Shouldn’t you have been looking after her? Look, she told me what happened and how she felt. I don’t blame you for anything but maybe take a few minutes to listen to her next time.”
He raised a eyebrow, “Look, I would’ve been keeping an eye on her but I unfortunately got caught up with work, so I entrusted her with my friends and she got away from them. I messed up and so did they, i take full accountability for what happened today. None of this was supposed to happen but I’m more worried about her right now.”
Hazel took one a look over her shoulder at Amber, as Tom followed her gaze with a sigh already telling by his daughter eyes that she was a bit down in the dumps. He kneeled down in front of her, put a gentle hand on her cheek meeting her baby blues and asking her tell him what happened in a calmer tone this time. Hazel sat beside her, listening to what she told her.
Tom sighed lowering his head as he listened to his daughter’s words and shook his head, not catching on the small signs that she wasn’t enjoying her day, he apologized greatly for it. His first job was father, pilot second. He knew that, it’s why he tried to keep his private life separate from this base but here he was in Viper’s office listening to his baby girl thoughts.
Sometimes he forgets what’s it like to be a child and feel unheard or not wanting to bother adults with your own business.
Amber pushed back her bangs and lowered her eyes, before looking up at her father and said, “…I’m sorry, daddy..i know I shouldn’t have ran away but i wanted to see the base with you..but everyone was busy or talking with other people…it felt like Hollywood forgot about me..”
“Honey, why didn’t you come back to my office or at least, find your uncle Mav to tell us how you were feeling?” Tom asked, with a soft tone that sounded almost like a whisper, nothing like the pilot people are used to hearing.
“You were handling a lot of paperwork and i heard Jester call your name..and I didn’t like it..and uh, you were about to go into a meeting. I didn’t want to interrupt you..”
“And you through because i was about to head to a meeting to bail out your uncle Mav, I wasn’t gonna have time to talk with you? Baby, as busy or annoyed as i can get, i will always make time for you. I’m sorry you thought running around base was the best option…oh..all you wanted was a little bit of attention, didn’t you?”
She just nodded at that. She must’ve sounded selfish or brash, wanting some attention than it seemed like she already had. Hell, due to her lack of communication she had 5 men searching for her.
“Amber, honey, you’re still so young and you won’t get it now but when you’re older you will. I didn’t want to stuck in my office all day, it wasn’t even my intention to make you feel that way either. If it was up to me, i would’ve been taking you flying or have you see a new selection of planes we have gotten this month but my schedule said otherwise. When you’re old enough you will understand what i mean. I should’ve went with you and gave you my full attention instead of having you hang out with your uncle Slider.”
Slider intercepted with a light mocking gasp, “Hey! I was a nice babysitter.”
“You lost her, you idiot.” Tom commented.
“Blame Hollywood and Wolfe for that last part.”
“Yeah, sure, buddy. We will.”
Wolfman and Hollywood scoffed hearing that part but nodded, since they did take a part in losing the young blonde. The duo walked in apologizing for their mistakes, as Wolf even ruffled Amber’s hair in efforts to make her crack a smile. And to his efforts, it worked.
Hazel leaned backwards in her sat and whisper softly to the young blonde, “Well now you got all the guys fondling over you, sweetie. Feel a little better?”
Amber nodded and wrapped her arms around Tom’s neck as he picked her up, embracing his little angels warmth not wanting to let her go. He humming softly asking, “Angel eyes?”
“Hm?” Amber responded, rubbing her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.
“Can you forgive me?”
“Well, daddy, can you forgive me?”
He chuckled nodding, “Yeah I can. I’m still a bit mad that you ran instead of coming to me first but yeah, of course I forgive you.”
She smiled at that, “I forgive you daddy..how much longer do you have to go your meeting?”
“I cut my meeting with Cain short because I had to go searching for you. But I have another one in two hours, after that I’m all yours.”
“Are you in trouble?”
“Stinger understood but Jester was a little annoyed, but I think I got off the hook. And I think you need to apologize for giving Maverick and the rest of the boys a scare too, baby.”
She nodded hearing the last part, knowing she needed to do that at some point. Tom put her down on the floor, thanking Viper for keeping her in his office for the time being as the older man told him he didn’t mind it one bit. Slider was already walking walking the boys out of the office, leaving the father daughter duo and a certain someone left. Hazel was running her fingers crossed her hair, with a soft smile leading against the couch hearing them talk softly to another one prideful she was able to help.
However just as she about to continue her conversation with Mike, the two blondes turned to her. Amber thanked her firsthand, hoping to see her around more often if she gets a chance to visit the base once again and went to stand in the doorway waiting for her father.
As she stood in the doorframe of Viper’s office, she noticed something on both adults faces. Mainly because the fog cleared now for her. She would’ve giggled and cleared her throat but she was more than curious to see where this goes. Mike was standing beside her, giving the girl a small wink as he looked over his shoulder to see Maverick coming their way.
Tom cleared his throat and grinned, “Uh, thank you back there.”
“For what?” Hazel asked, with a sly smile.
“Knocking some sense into me. I wasn’t thinking straight at all, usually I’m more grounded than this.”
“So I heard. I heard of your reputation, but I never expected the whole father thing.”
“Yeah well, it’s something I don’t expect everyone to know. I have my reasons to keep my private life separated from my aviation one.”
“I get it.”
“Yeah?”
“I do. With a darling girl like that, I can see why you want to keep her safe. She’s a good girl, you got lucky.”
“I think so too. And she seems to have taken a liking to you.”
“I guess so. Uh, I’ll see you around, Iceman?”
“Most certainly, Daredevil.”
Amber rolled her eyes at her father not being as smooth as he would be and chuckled, “Ask for her number, daddy.”
All adults laughed at her comments and rolled their eyes, seeing how forwarded she was being today. To be fair, after the world-wind of a day Tom had his head wasn’t screwed on straight, so missed a stepped at being a flirt with his fellow pilots.
He gave his daughter a pointed look and chuckled, “I was just getting to that, sweetheart.” He continued looking at the brunette with his signature smile and added, “Can I have your number, beautiful?”
Hazel chuckled doubling over with a hand on her chest, still taking in the young girl’s forwardness as if it was the most obvious answer. It took her a moment before she replied with a darling smile, biting her bottom lip, “Yes. Yes you may.”
Without a second later, Hazel ripped a piece a index card from Viper’s desk and wrote down her number, handing it to Tom who grinned thanking her. The two talked for another half minute about whatever nonsense that came to mind, with a mention of a date next Friday if they’re both available and then some. Viper chuckled clearing his throat, as much as he loved seeing two pilots creating a connection, he knew time is money and he had meetings to get to today.
Both the blonde and brunette nodding grinning as Ice took his daughter’s hand and once again thanked Viper, allowing him to return to his previous meetings Daredevil earlier. Hazel waved at the two blondes and took a seat once again where she sat originally.
———
As one could imagine, the rest of the day went as follows, Ice went to his final meeting of the day with Amber this time right beside him. She didn’t mind it all, rather enjoyed being in the room with all the high ranking people and the view of the office in general. Maverick intercepted the meeting to check up on his niece and wingman, glad to see two of favorite people in the building alright and well. Stinger glared at the short pilot twice and pointed for him to exit the door as soon as possible.
Once it over, the father daughter packed it up leaving the offices and headed to the tarmac to watch the planes in the air. Since he always carried an extra pair of sunglasses, he slipped the another one in her hand as she gladly put them on.
Tom scooped up Amber, pointing out the fliers pulling the moves then landing from the safe zone. There were moments of comfortable silence between the two of them and others of them suggesting what else they should do that day.
“How about McDonald’s?” Amber asked, as her father placed her once again on the ground.
He thought for a moment, considering the opinions of today’s action and shook his head, “Sorry, angel eyes. Not today, maybe some other time.”
“It’s okay. I understand..I’m sorry again daddy for running off.”
“I know you are sweetie and I just hope next time you know not to do something like that again.”
“Yes daddy. So no McDonald’s?”
“Nope. We have food at home, but we can past McDonald’s on the drive.”
Tom smirked watching her face, as her mouth opened for a moment then shut pouting. Seeing that it would furrow her brown and having her nose snitch up at that rather rude idea. He knew it was a little mean act, but it was something his grandfather did to him as a small punishment and to see if the fast food restaurant was really worth it.
After a moment, her face returned back to normal as she let out a dramatic sigh and nodded knowing it was somewhat fair trick to play on her. She even let out a smile, following her father out away from the tarmac and into the parking lot.
The drive home was pretty okay, since the music that played on the radio allowed for a gentle sound to release whatever negative thoughts and feelings from across the day, as they went out the window. And yes, they did past by McDonald’s on their way home.
Once they got home, both ate something and showered early, that’s when Tom had the actual talk he said he was going to do earlier that day. Not to get into any heavy detail, it a long 20 minutes of Tom’s eyes almost shifting to his Iceman persona every few minutes at how his emotions sorta bottled up in him while scolding Amber.
He didn’t scream or yell, keeping his voice neutral the whole time.
Telling how that what she did was very reckless, irresponsible, that it a worrisome situation on his part and she literally made a down right stupid decision. Saying something worse could’ve happened if she wasn’t careful. He gave his two sense on the matter and explained to her all the possibilities of what might’ve went wrong today. Things she could’ve done instead and so forth.
Amber tear up hearing her father and just nodded listening to him. He said that he understood why she did it, she felt annoyed and unheard. Plus, she’s a kid, so she doesn’t know any better than to just run away from the issue and stay in her thoughts. However he does say that he felt good that she realized what she did wrong and went back to find an adult.
Yes, he rather it was him but he really liked the fact that she at least went to Viper’s office. Because it was a trusted friend and honorary member of the family.
Due to Tom sitting on the couch with her as he talked, he rubbed her shoulder and handed her a tissue to wipe away those tears that rolled down her cheeks. Apologizing as well for his decisions and own actions today, knowing he messed up on his part since he should’ve stayed with her the whole entire time, instead of leaving her with Slider and the older pilots.
That he should’ve read the signs and taken time to give her his full attention or something. Amber didn’t blame him, as she given her moments to speak her mind as well onto her own feelings. She promised to not try to run away again and go to him if she feels some certain way. She asked if it possible to go flying like old times and he replied that one day they can. Telling her how he will definitely try his best to make time for her, listen to her own thoughts better and keep himself as in the loop as possible.
He gave her a squeeze and a kiss on her cheek, as the two stayed there just talking about punishments, the rules for the rest of the week and exceptions to be set soon. She leaned into his touch and nodded hearing him talking, to be honest even though he was telling her no tv for a week and among other things, his voice was rather relaxing. Hushing her worries about a few things as she softly smile.
Overall the afternoon went well, a few shed tears and a couple of moments just to hear the other person out was exactly what was needed.

Maxwell “Kid” Mitchell
Max was always destined to fly. As Maverick’s only kid from his unfortunate love story with Charlotte Blackwood, his place has always been in the cockpit. As close as he was to his father, the legacy that Pete Mitchell was leaving behind for Max was a hard one to follow. He got his callsign from always being referred to as “Mitchell’s Kid” or “Maverick’s Kid”.
Max is all hard edges and tough love. After Maverick pulled Bradley’s paperwork, causing Max and his closest friend (and childhood crush) to get into a screaming match, he’s never let anyone that close again. Until a certain WSO with glasses and an awkward charm manages to work his way into Max’s heart. Now he’s forced to deal with a mission that could take his only family away while falling in love in the scariest way possible…

not my best helmet drawing since it's literally my first, but this is what my top gun oc's helmet design would be.
the classy american airforce helmet, paired with a stripe and half diamond pattern on the top, with their calls callsign running through the middle.
more info under the cut
black stripes: symbolises strength and wealth
white spaces between stripes: symbolises perfectionism and grace
red half-diamonds/triangles: symbolises perfection and endurance (since triangles are the strongest shape)
the callsign's written a bit iffy, but it took me like 5 tries to get it at least alright
improvements:
- could add triangles onto the bottom. I just didn't want it to look over the top
- fix the callsign a bit
- shade in the inside of the breathing tube a bit more, it looks too bright in the pic.
- shade in goggles... or maybe leave them like that. idk
edit:
- added the bottom red triangles as well as an extra red strip on either side
- gave the goggles a red tint
- shaded in the black parts a bit more
for now I think it's fine, I'll do more for my CS oc next

i am yet again rewriting my tgm story. ages ago i saw a Hangman edit to Family Line (by Conan Gray, which I'm listening to right now), and the caption (and comments) were something along the lines of, "what if his home life made him act like the cocky ass he is?" and it stuck with me.
We have;
Enzo Seresin, 56-years-old, fathered five children to three different women. Jake with his first wife, Auggie with his mistress, and Spencer, Noelle and Hallie with his second wife. Enzo immigrated from Italy to the United States with his parents and sisters when he was a child, and grew up in Austin, Texas, where he would later raise his youngest children.
Jacques "Jake" Seresin, at 36-year-old, as the eldest of his siblings. His mother is French, and named him after her father. He's often called Jake and prefers it since it is easier for most to pronounce, but also because Jacques is used by his mother when he's in trouble and associates his full name negatively. Jake has hated Enzo since the divorce, and especially more so when he found out about the reason why.
Estelle Allard, 55-years-old, is Jake's mother and Enzo's first wife. She moved from her loving home in France to be with Enzo. When she discovered his cheating, Estelle was convinced by her sister-in-law to divorce him and file for full custody of her son. Since the divorce, Estelle has done what she could to raise her son to be better than his father. Even after Enzo's actions, Estelle holds a good friendship with her ex-husband's former mistress, Constanza.
August "Auggie" Montalvo, who is 29-years-old, is the eldest daughter to the father. Her mother hails from Puerto Rico, and she was taught Spanish from a young age. Since she never really knew Enzo, Auggie was taught Italian by her aunt and occasionally speaks it with her older brother. She never tried for a relationship with her father, as it was clear to her that he decided before she was even born that she meant nothing to him--despite him forcing her name on her mother.
Constanza Montalvo, 49-years-old, is Auggie's mother and Enzo's mistress. When she found out she was pregnant, Constanza moved from Florida to be with Enzo, only to find out he was already married to a lovely woman six years her senior with a 7-year-old Jake. Distraught over this revelation, Constanza told Estelle of Enzo's cheating and let her decide what to do with the information. When Enzo's sisters learned of their niece, they begged Constanza to stay in Texas and let Auggie grow up with family. She became close with Estelle after the divorce, and she raised Auggie with her older half-brother, Jake, in her life.
Spencer Seresin, a 29-year-old doctor, was also a product of his father's affairs. Born five months after his older half-sister, Spencer was labelled as a year younger to lessen his father's affair and make him seem like the product of Enzo's new marriage to Spencer's mother. He would later become an older brother to twin sisters, who--like his older half-siblings--Spencer would come to protect from his father.
Noelle "Elle" Seresin, at 26-years-old, is the second-born twin of Enzo's youngest children. She knows what her father has done, and for the sake of both her mother, and her eldest siblings' mothers, Elle chooses to turn a blind eye. She refuses to broach the topic of the cheating that led to her older half-sister and her older brother. Elle feels she is the only one still grieving the loss of her sister. For Hallie, she tries to maintain a stable relationship with Jake and Auggie, but they continue to hold her at an arm's length.
Hallary "Hallie" Seresin, forever 17-years-old, was the older of the Seresin twins. An accident took her life in her late teens, severely impacting her twin sister's relationship with their older half-siblings, who only appeared at her funeral out of respect for her, Spencer, Noelle and their mother, and out of spite of Enzo. Hallie looked up to her eldest brother and sister, despite only meeting Jake a few times in her childhood and only hearing stories (complaints) about Auggie.
Stephanie Seresin, 46-year-old, is the mother of Spencer, Elle and Hallie, and the second wife of Enzo. She more-or-less views her children as a means of keeping her husband around rather than actually caring for them. Despite this, she was still grief-stricken by her teenage daughter's death. She views her husband's eldest children--who she refuses to call her step-children while also demanding they call her Mom--as entitled bastards that didn't deserve her husband's attention in the first place. Stephanie loathes Estelle and Constanza purely for their children's existences.
So, this family is a little torn, and a little broken, but they make it work as well as they want to. Hangman doesn't overly want to be close to his younger siblings, but continues to try for Estelle's sake. Especially since she's so close with his half-sister's mother.
#stephanie is indeed named after a girl i went to school with#ofc i and most of my friends did not like her#if you think this is you it is not#ngl if my father had a baby with the woman he cheated on my mother with and then left us#and then had three more with another woman he cheated with#i'd be cocky as hell too#gotta put those guns and walls up to hide the fear i'd turn out like him#top gun#top gun fandom#top gun maverick#top gun fanfiction#top gun maverick fanfic#top gun oc#top gun ocs

Meltdown rarely talks to Slider anymore. She's of the belief he's ashamed after she and Menace crashed trying to avoid Phoenix and Bob's jetwash. In reality, Slider was amongst the chain of command for the mission and specifically made the fallback call in a selfish attempt to protect his daughter and son-in-law. The disfiguring scars across her and her WSO's faces and bodies make it impossible for him to look at either of them for very long.
Menace doesn't blame his wife for the accident and often finds himself cooling her signature meltdowns before they begin. Though his face was mostly spared, various deep scars mar his arms and torso. Though their relationship is already a secret to all but three of the Daggers, Meltdown's late night flashbacks are only known to him.

What Happens In Texas Stays In Texas: intrusive obsession (Jake "Hangman" Seresin x OC)

Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x OC (Ronnie Bradshaw)
Word Count: 1410
Warnings: EXPLICIT SEXUAL CONTENT 18+ONLY MINORS DNI (breastfeeding stuff, lactation kink, jake seresin's oral fixation, vaginal fingering, dry humping, creaming pants, this is just straight filth)
regular au masterlist
A/N: likes are great but comments/reblogs are even better!
Jake came out of the shower to see Ronnie sitting at the edge of the bed, top half completely bare and t-shirt tossed into the corner by their suitcase. She gripped the comforter tight, shoulders heaving as she stared at the wall.
“You okay, darlin’?” he asked as he ran the towel over his hair again.
“No,” she whimpered, voice shaken with tears.
Jake quickly yanked on a pair of briefs before rounding the bed to see what was wrong. There were tears streaming down her face, brow pinched in pain as she continuously glanced down at her chest.
“What’s wrong, baby?” he asked quietly as he got down on his knees before her.
Ronnie sucked in a deep, shuddering breath before she spoke, “Maisie didn’t finish her boob before she fell asleep.”
His face softened in understanding, his hands racking up and down her thighs in a soothing motion. And now that he was really looking at her, he could see it too. Her breasts were swollen, painfully so — full of milk undrunk, hard and aching. Ronnie whined again as more tears slipped down her cheeks. Their daughter was a good sleeper, wouldn’t need another feed until morning. So she was left full and ready to feed with nowhere to put it.
“Alright, where’d you put the pump?”
“I-I forgot to pack it.”
“Ronnie,” he sighed, head dropping down to her lap.
“I know, I’m sorry,” she cried, leaning back on the heels of her hands. “I am regretting it so much right now — this fucking hurts.”
Jake had been trying to ignore the intrusive thought since the first time he watched Ronnie breastfeed Maisie. When it first popped into his head he found it depraved, maybe even a little sick. She was producing milk to feed their daughter, for crying out loud. It was a miracle, a beautiful thing of nature that astounded him and put him in awe of his wife and all that she was capable of. But once the thoughts started it was hard to make them stop. He thought about it constantly. What it must taste like. How it must feel. His cock twitched to life even as he sat on his knees before his miserable, crying wife. He told himself he was just trying to help her.
“I mean…” He started, coughed to try and hide the arousal in his tone, then tried again. “I mean, I could…?”
She caught his meaning immediately and threw her head back with a groan. “God, please Jake, anything to make this stop.”
“Okay,” he chuckled lightly, even as he readjusted his briefs around his already half-hard member.
Ronnie pulled herself back up to sit up straight as Jake’s hands found purchase on her hips, pulling her closer to the edge of the bed so he could fit himself between her spread thighs. Skirt bunched up around her hips to provide better access. A whimper bubbled in her throat the closer his face got to her breasts, large nipples red and irritated already beginning to leak. On instinct, he licked the drop away before it could make a mess. The noise she made forced his hips to stutter against the mattress and boxspring.
“Jake, please,” she whispered breathlessly, hands combing into his hair to urge him closer to her swollen tit.
He couldn’t hesitate anymore. Not when she was offering so freely, not when she was in so much pain, not when he had been dreaming about this for months. Not when it felt like his lips practically itched to be around her. He didn’t even care if he seemed eager — he latched onto her and sucked deeply. Ronnie’s back arched, her fingers death gripping his hair. Milk burst onto his tongue and he groaned around her nipple. The taste was sweet and everything he ever wanted.
Then she pushed at his face and he stopped immediately. Both of their chests heaved. Jake wiped at the corner of his mouth. Watching disdainfully as her milk continued to dribble down the slope of her breast. For a moment, he feared it was all too much. That he had taken it too far.
“Gentle, please,” Ronnie whispered, hands curving back into his hair. “M’really sensitive. Your daughter is intense when it comes to her boobs.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he chuckled. “I’ll be gentle. Unlike some people.”
He threw a look over his shoulder at the other room where Maisie was sound asleep. Ronnie laughed despite the pain that she was still experiencing.
Putting his mouth on her again, he sucked gently as he squeezed the base of her breast — remembering from when he would sit next to her as she pumped. Ronnie sighed in sweet relief, her head falling back at the lessened pressure. But as she experienced relief, Jake was experiencing more and more pressure. His cock was rock hard, jumping at the taste of her milk and the sweet little sighs she released. God, he just couldn’t help it. He needed his own relief, it was becoming unbearable, impossible to ignore — no matter how much he wanted to just focus on helping his wife. But once he started rutting against the side of the mattress he really couldn’t stop.
“Oh,” Ronnie gasped.
She could feel it — of course she could. He was practically humping her leg. Slow, calculated thrusts in time with the way he sucked at her tit. She looked down at him, really looked down at him for the first time, and the way he looked back up at her made something like a fire lick down her spine straight to her core. His pupils were blown wide, consuming any hint of green. His cheeks were flushed a light shade of red that any other time she would have found adorable. His tongue swirled around her nipple as he sucked and her back arched, pushing her chest further into him as she made another one of those pretty little sounds he knew so well.
He pulled his lips off of her with a gasp, chest heaving. “Shit, fuck, please tell me you’re as into this as I am?”
“God, surprisingly,” she said.
Jake was quick to run his hand up the length of her thigh, her gasp small and yearning as he easily reached the apex. Her panties were soaked through. He moaned, hips adjusting uncaringly to rut against the slightly more forgiving flesh of her calf, as he moved the ruined fabric aside and easily slipped two fingers inside.
“Jesus, you’re wet.”
“S-Surprisingly,” she repeated, stuttering the word out around the delicious curl of his fingers.
“That feel good, darlin’?” he asked, pressing his thumb into her clit.
“Fuck,” she hissed, hips grinding against his hand as her fingers fisted the comforter beneath her. “Jake, the other one — please.”
He looked to her other, ignored, leaking breast. Still so swollen and hard. Watched as the milk rolled down her body to get soaked up by the fabric of her skirt. He licked his lips before latching on, forgetting to be careful as he sucked deeply. Ronnie cried out at the sensation, instantly slapping a hand over her mouth to keep any other noises at bay. She was not about to let this get interrupted by a crying, rudely awoken baby. Jake, ever the expert at multitasking, kept up the pace of his fingers in her core — keeping it in time with the swirl of his tongue and draw of his lips on her tit.
He swirled his thumb on her clit and she whimpered soft and broken, her fingers clawing onto the back of his head to keep him right where she wanted him. “Don’t stop, please, don’t. Feels so good.”
Jake groaned around her nipple, pumping his fingers faster in time with the piston of his hips against her leg. Then, suddenly, she crashed into it. Her cunt clamping down on his fingers hard, sucking him back in. With her head thrown back and a breathless moan spilling endlessly from her lips. Jake detatched from her breast as his hips stuttered to a stop, breathless and flushed and more than anything surprised by what just happened.
“Holy shit,” he gasped, pressing his face into her belly. “I just creamed my pants like a fucking teenager.”
“I don’t think a teenager would ever do what we just did, babe,” Ronnie laughed back, smoothing down the wild strands of his hair that she herself had messed.

Top Gun OCs pt. 3
Lt. Dane "Bone Saw" Bradshaw
Dane Bradshaw grew up in the shadow of his older brother Bradley, who was a natural when it came to flying. Their father, Nick "Goose" Bradshaw, was a legendary pilot and a close friend of Maverick from the original Top Gun class. Unfortunately, Dane never got the chance to meet his father, as Goose tragically lost his life in a flight accident before Dane was even born.
Growing up, Dane always admired his brother's talent and passion for flying. He would listen intently as Bradley recounted stories about their father's heroics in the cockpit, and dreamt of one day following in their footsteps. Despite being separated by a significant age gap, Bradley always made an effort to include Dane in his life, sharing his love for aviation and teaching him everything he knew.
As Dane got older, he discovered that he had his own unique talents. While he didn't possess the same natural flying abilities as Bradley, he developed exceptional technical skills and a deep understanding of aircraft mechanics. Dane's passion for aviation grew stronger with each passing day, and he became determined to contribute to the world of aviation in his own way.
After finishing high school, Dane enrolled in a prestigious aviation engineering program, where he honed his skills and deepened his knowledge of aircraft systems. He excelled in his studies, earning top marks and gaining recognition for his innovative ideas and problem-solving abilities. Dane's dedication and expertise caught the attention of the Navy, and they offered him an opportunity to join the Top Gun program as an aviation engineer.
Although Dane initially had reservations about pursuing a career behind the scenes rather than in the cockpit, he realized that his skills could make a significant impact on the safety and performance of the aircraft. He accepted the offer, knowing that he would be able to contribute to the legacy his father and brother had left behind.
As Dane stepped onto the hallowed grounds of Top Gun, he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. He knew that he had big shoes to fill, but he was determined to honor his family's legacy and prove himself worthy. With his technical expertise and unwavering dedication, Dane became an integral part of the Top Gun team, ensuring that every aircraft was in optimal condition for the pilots.
Dane's journey at Top Gun was not without challenges, as he constantly battled with feelings of inadequacy compared to his brother's flying skills. However, he learned to embrace his own unique talents and realized that every role within the aviation industry was important for the success of a mission.
Throughout his time at Top Gun, Dane formed deep friendships with his fellow pilots and engineers. He became known for his unwavering support, always ready to lend a helping hand or provide technical guidance. Dane's determination, resilience, and commitment to excellence made him a valuable asset to the Top Gun program, and he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of every mission.
Dane Bradshaw is a driven and determined individual who possesses a strong work ethic and a deep passion for aviation. He is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to excellence in his work. Dane's technical expertise and problem-solving skills make him an invaluable asset to the Top Gun program, as he ensures that every aircraft is in optimal condition.
Despite not having the same natural flying abilities as his brother Bradley, Dane has never let that discourage him. He is resilient and tenacious, always eager to learn and improve. Dane understands the importance of his role as an aviation engineer and takes pride in the fact that he can contribute to the safety and performance of the aircraft.
Dane's relationship with his brother Bradley is a unique blend of admiration, support, and sibling rivalry. Growing up, Dane idolized Bradley and looked up to him as a role model. He would listen intently to Bradley's stories about their father, Goose, and dreamt of one day following in their footsteps. Bradley, in turn, recognized Dane's passion for aviation and did his best to include him in his world, fostering a strong bond between the two.
While their age gap initially created a bit of a barrier, as Dane was too young to fully engage in the same activities as Bradley, they found common ground through their shared love for aviation. Bradley served as a mentor to Dane, teaching him everything he knew about flying and instilling in him a sense of discipline and dedication.
However, as Dane grew older, he also developed a sense of healthy competition with his brother. He often felt overshadowed by Bradley's natural talent and the legacy of their father, but instead of letting it discourage him, Dane used it as fuel to push himself further. He strived to prove his own worth and carve out his own path within the aviation world.
Despite the occasional rivalry, Dane and Bradley share a deep bond of brotherly love and support. They have each other's backs, cheering each other on in their respective roles. Bradley recognizes Dane's unique talents and often seeks out his input and expertise when it comes to aircraft mechanics and engineering.
Their relationship is characterized by mutual respect and admiration. Dane looks up to Bradley as a source of inspiration, and Bradley sees Dane as a constant reminder of their father's legacy. They push each other to be the best versions of themselves and find solace in the fact that they are continuing the Bradshaw family's aviation heritage together.
Dane's call sign, "Bone Saw," is a nickname given to him during his time at Top Gun. The origin of the call sign stems from a combination of his expertise in aircraft mechanics and his determined, relentless nature.
The name "Bone Saw" reflects Dane's technical prowess and his ability to dissect and analyze complex aircraft systems with precision, similar to how a surgeon uses a bone saw in a surgical procedure. Just as a bone saw is a tool used to carefully and skillfully navigate through intricate structures, Dane has a knack for unraveling the inner workings of aircraft, identifying issues, and providing effective solutions.
Moreover, the call sign also symbolizes Dane's relentless work ethic and his unwavering commitment to excellence. Like a bone saw that cuts through obstacles and challenges, Dane approaches his work with a tenacious and determined mindset. He will go to great lengths to ensure that every aircraft under his care is in optimal condition, leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of perfection.
The call sign "Bone Saw" not only represents Dane's technical expertise but also serves as a reminder of his resilience and dedication. It showcases his ability to navigate through complex situations and his unwavering determination to overcome any obstacle that comes his way.
Overall, "Bone Saw" is a fitting, some would say call sign for Dane, for his technical expertise, relentless work ethic, and his ability to dissect and solve intricate problems within the aviation world.
And lastly, let's talk about Dane's strengths and weaknesses.
Strengths:
1. Technical Expertise: Dane possesses exceptional technical skills and a deep understanding of aircraft mechanics. His expertise allows him to analyze complex systems, identify issues, and provide effective solutions. He is meticulous and detail-oriented in his work, ensuring that every aircraft is in optimal condition.
2. Problem-Solving Abilities: Dane has a natural aptitude for problem-solving. He approaches challenges with a methodical mindset, breaking them down into manageable components and finding innovative solutions. His ability to think critically and analytically is instrumental in resolving issues and ensuring the safety and performance of the aircraft.

Dane's determination and perseverance enable him to overcome obstacles and deliver high-quality results.
4. Team Player: Dane understands the importance of collaboration and teamwork. He works well with others, fostering positive relationships and effective communication within the team. Dane is always ready to support his fellow pilots and engineers, offering assistance and guidance whenever needed.
Weaknesses:
1. Self-Doubt: Due to being compared to his brother Bradley and their father's legacy, Dane sometimes struggles with feelings of self-doubt. He may question his own abilities and feel overshadowed by others' natural talents. However, Dane has learned to embrace his unique skills and remind himself of the value he brings to the team.
2. Impatience: Dane's drive for perfection can sometimes lead to impatience. He may become frustrated if things don't progress as quickly as he would like or if he encounters obstacles along the way. Dane is learning to manage his impatience and strike a balance between striving for excellence and understanding the necessary time and effort required for success.
3. Lack of Flying Skills: While Dane has a deep passion for aviation, he doesn't possess the same natural flying abilities as his brother Bradley. This can occasionally create a sense of inadequacy or a feeling of being left out. However, Dane has come to embrace his role as an aviation engineer and recognizes the importance of his contributions to the team.
4. Perfectionism: Dane's pursuit of perfection can sometimes lead to an excessive focus on details, potentially causing him to overlook the bigger picture. He is learning to balance his meticulousness with the ability to prioritize and make efficient decisions.
Though, despite these weaknesses, Dane's strengths far outweigh them. His technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, work ethic, and dedication make him an invaluable asset to the team. Dane continuously learns and grows, using his weaknesses as opportunities for improvement and personal development.
Lt. Austin "Chaos" Mitchell
Austin Mitchell was born into a world of aviation. As the son of the legendary fighter pilot, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, Austin was exposed to the thrill and passion of flying from a young age. Growing up, he would spend countless hours at airshows and military bases, watching his father in action and dreaming of one day following in his footsteps.
From the moment he could walk, Austin was fascinated by airplanes. His room was adorned with model planes and posters of fighter jets, and he would spend hours studying flight manuals and watching aviation documentaries. He absorbed everything he could about the world of aviation, fueled by his father's stories and experiences.
As Austin grew older, he became determined to prove himself as a pilot. He excelled academically, earning a scholarship to the prestigious United States Naval Academy. While there, he immersed himself in the study of aeronautical engineering and honed his physical and mental capabilities, preparing himself for the challenges that lay ahead.
During his time at the academy, Austin's competitive spirit and natural talent quickly became evident. He consistently stood out among his peers, impressing his superiors with his exceptional flying skills and unwavering dedication. It was clear that he had inherited his father's innate ability and love for flying.
Upon graduation, Austin was accepted into the Navy's elite fighter pilot program. He underwent rigorous training, pushing himself to the limits both physically and mentally. He proved himself time and again, mastering complex maneuvers and demonstrating a natural instinct for aerial combat.
As Austin's training progressed, he found himself constantly striving to live up to the legacy of his father, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. While he admired his father's achievements, he was determined to forge his own path and create a name for himself in the aviation world.
Despite his academic intelligence and exceptional flying skills, Austin Mitchell possesses a charmingly clumsy and awkward side to his personality. While he may be a bit of a "dummy" when it comes to real-life situations, he more than makes up for it with his determination and infectious enthusiasm.
Austin has a tendency to find himself in comical mishaps and awkward moments. Whether it's tripping over his own feet, accidentally spilling coffee on himself, or fumbling with simple tasks, he has a knack for finding himself in humorous situations. However, he never lets these moments define him or bring him down. Instead, he embraces them with a light-hearted laugh and a self-deprecating sense of humor.
Despite his occasional clumsiness, Austin's genuine warmth and enthusiasm endear him to those around him. He has a knack for making people feel at ease, often using humor to diffuse tense situations or lift the spirits of his fellow pilots. His infectious laughter and positive attitude have a way of brightening even the most challenging moments.
In social situations, Austin can sometimes come across as a bit awkward. He may stumble over his words or find it difficult to strike up conversations, especially with people he admires or finds intimidating. However, his genuine nature shines through, and people quickly realize that beneath the awkwardness lies a kind-hearted and well-intentioned individual.
Austin's ability to laugh at himself and not take life too seriously makes him a relatable and approachable person. He doesn't let his occasional clumsiness define him or hold him back. Instead, he uses it as a reminder to embrace life's imperfections and find joy in the journey.
Though, overall, Austin Mitchell is a smart, talented, and determined individual with a charmingly clumsy and awkward side. His enthusiasm for flying and his unwavering dedication to proving himself create a unique combination that endears him to those around him.
Austin's relationship with his older sister, Jenny Penelope Mitcell AKA JenPen, is one characterized by a deep bond and mutual support. Despite their different paths in life, they share a strong connection that goes beyond their sibling status.
Jenny, being the older sister, has always been a source of guidance and inspiration for Austin. She has been there to provide wisdom, encouragement, and a listening ear whenever he needed it. From a young age, Austin has looked up to his sister, admiring her strength, intelligence, and determination.
Jenny, in turn, has always been a protective and nurturing figure in Austin's life. She has taken on a role of both sister and mentor, offering guidance and advice as he navigates his own path as a pilot. She understands the challenges and pressures that come with their family legacy, and she has been a pillar of support for Austin, helping him navigate through both the triumphs and the setbacks.
Their relationship is marked by a playful camaraderie as well. They have shared countless inside jokes, playful banter, and lighthearted teasing. Austin often finds solace in his sister's presence, knowing that she will always be there to lift his spirits and bring a sense of levity to any situation.
While they may have their differences, Austin and Jenny share a common love for aviation, inherited from their father. They bond over their shared passion, often swapping stories and experiences from their respective journeys. Whether it's discussing flight maneuvers or sharing the thrill of their latest accomplishments, their love for flying connects them on a deeper level.
Austin and Jenny have a close and supportive relationship. They are each other's confidants, cheerleaders, and partners in crime. Through the ups and downs of their individual paths, they can always count on each other for unwavering support, understanding, and a shared sense of family pride.
Austin's call sign, "Chaos," is a reflection of his charmingly clumsy and unpredictable nature. While some call signs are chosen to reflect a pilot's skills or demeanor, Austin's call sign was given to him by his fellow pilots as a light-hearted acknowledgement of his tendency to bring a bit of chaos into their lives.
Despite his exceptional flying skills and determination, Austin's clumsiness and occasional mishaps have become somewhat of a running joke among his peers. Whether it's accidentally triggering an alarm during a training exercise or causing a minor disruption during briefings, Austin has a knack for unintentionally creating moments of chaos.
However, his call sign is not meant to be derogatory or demeaning. Rather, it is a playful and affectionate way for his fellow pilots to embrace his unique personality. They recognize that while Austin may bring a bit of chaos into their lives, he also brings joy, laughter, and a refreshing sense of authenticity.
Austin has embraced his call sign with good humor and a sense of self-awareness. He understands that it is a reflection of his endearing quirks and the genuine connections he has forged with his fellow pilots. Rather than being embarrassed or discouraged by it, he wears his call sign proudly, embracing the chaos and adding his own touch of humor to any situation.
In the end, "Chaos" serves as a reminder that life doesn't always go according to plan, and it's okay to embrace the unexpected. Austin Mitchell's call sign reflects his ability to find humor and joy in the midst of chaos, and his fellow pilots appreciate him for it.

Et tu, Brute?
(Top gun oc!)
Introduction to my top gun oc, uh, this is probably very cringe, but cringe is freedom, so who cares if a random teen makes a stupid character!
Her name is Natalia "Brutus" Marcuzzi,called to top gun along side her RIO Christina "Cassius" Bucci, they're both italian, let's day their mission didn't go that nicely. Cassius died decapitated by a piece of plane, Brutus later became an admiral but lived all her life with survivor's guilt! (They were in love yes)
Also, au where Mav gets called back to top gun for a mission and she's their instructor :3
(P.S. lots of things are confusing and inaccurate, mostly time wise, but atp I'm just having fun with it :D)
(Even more P. S., i see Mav as one hell of a mama's boy, he went from being incredibly disrespectful to her to mistakenly calling her mom, she secretly was proud)
This is her 20 years after the incident! Cold, shut off lots of her emotions as a coping mechanism.
She's tall and muscular BECAUSE MUSCULAR AND TALL WOMEN>>>
(Although my art sucks at showing it)
Her and Cassius and unfinished chisroscuro of her!
(That on her neck and cheek is a burn scar yes)
This said, thank you for reading if you have! <3

11 | Dinner at Penny’s 🥟
August 27, 2023
Dear Star,
I am writing to you from a cramped bunk bed in the middle of the night in a docked carrier. We have just settled in Yokusaka. I still hate that we had to move away from Atsugi. I donʼt like being far from you. Iʼll be sure to visit you this weekend on my off. Today, I had the little spring rolls that you first made me at your apartment. They were being sold in this little Filipino store at a street corner. It was good, but to be honest... yours was a whole lot better. What do you put in there? I miss you, Star. I canʼt wait to see you this weekend. I just wanna lay in your arms and sleep all day...
How do you react to that? How do you react to the revelation of the identity of your long-lost father? Whose every indication in the course of your childhood was erased? Ever since that night at the Hard Deck, Lucy began to wrack her memory for any instance that her mother, Tala, ever brought up her mysterious father. All those little conversations in the kitchen or late nights in her bedroom. Whenever, Lucy had tried to ask about her about Maverick, she would always give her this look— with those downcast eyes that glistened slightly when it hit the light the right way. Her mother would merely say: ‘thereʼs work to be done,ʼ and cup her cheek before leaving to get her hands busy again. Lucy has always understood that bringing up her father dredged up his painful memory — but she didnʼt understand until two years ago when she first read the letters, the extent of their love, ergo the sadness that it inevitably entailed. But what happened between them? It didnʼt seem that her mother harbored a certain disdain towards him. She was unreadable on the matter of Maverick.
So here Lucy was now, the afternoon before Pennyʼs dinner, rolling lumpia on the living room table with Bradley and Downtown Abbey once again on the screen. Lucy followed the same recipe she has always used — the one her mother used, the one belonged to her grandmother. The one that Maverick had all those years ago in in her small apartment when she lived in Japan. If she was honest with herself, Lucy didnʼt know how to feel. In her mind, she knows that she should dislike him. With everything that her mother has been through — as an immigrant and a lone provider for two children—she should reject the father that turned his back on her and her brother. But in her heart, she so yearned to know him.
“Angel?ˮ She felt Bradley kiss the space beneath her ear. “You seem spacey, you alright?ˮ
Lucy smiled at the sight of him. He was clad in an old Navy shirt and gray sweatpants, with a tousled head of locks. He had on these plastic gloves with meat filling in their crevices.
“Iʼm okay,ˮ she reassured him. “Just a little nervous
“Well donʼt be,ˮ He told her. “Penny already likes you alot, you and Mav have some good common ground, and Ameliaʼs really sweet. Plus... they are really gonna love this...ˮ
Lucy stared at the pile of completed spring rolls, and smiled hopefully.
Bradley wasnʼt too sure why Lucy was so exasperated about this dinner. Of course, a certain level of nervousness is assumed when meeting your significant otherʼs family for the first time, but surely not at the level Lucy was at. He watched silently as she carefully decided between three outfits— in his eyes, she looked beautiful in all of them. He especially liked how her bell bottom jeans complemented... her body. She was so occupied with her decision, that she absentmindedly stepped into the hallway in a lacy wired bra and matching white underwear with a small rose embroidered at the front hem. She was looking at two hangers of dresses, completely unaware of Bradleyʼs grazing eyes.
“Um... Angel?ˮ He said calmly. Face red hot and throat dry. Seeing her in a bikini was one thing, but seeing her in her intimates was another.
“Which one do you think looks better?ˮ She asked him, her head cocking to the side at his flustered expression. “Bradley?ˮ
At that moment, only then did Lucy realize as she looked down on herself. She blushed, using the dresses on the hangers to conceal herself.
“Well...ˮ she blushed, laughing. “Showʼs over!ˮ
Bradley wasnʼt used to this. He normally wasnʼt so flustered by half-naked women. He felt like he was in college — experiencing his first sexual encounter. Itʼs been so long that he had been with someone seriously, that he forgot what it was like before the sex. The romance and intimacy that usually ensued before the physical act. Bradley was once more reminded of his age — by the years that he had just kept it ‘casualʼ — that is until he met Lucy. On that note, Lucy finally reappeared from her room — in a olive-colored blouse, with clunky heels, hair half-up, and donned with her dark wash bell-bottom jeans. Bradley grinned.
Bradley held Lucyʼs hand all the way to Pennyʼs house, drawing circles on the back of her hand soothingly. She kissed his hand affectionately.
“Hey,ˮ Lucy said to him, her eyes kept on the road ahead of them. “Can I ask you something?ˮ
“Of course you can, Angel.ˮ
“Does it bother you that I donʼt have a pet name for you?ˮ She asked him.
“I donʼt mind it all,ˮ Bradley replied. “Why do you ask?ˮ
“I know that there are some guys that donʼt care for it at all, so I was just asking...ˮ
“Well if you have one in mind... Iʼd love to hear it,ˮ he took his eyes briefly from the road to look into hers.
“Well I have two in mind,ˮ Lucy said.
“Fire away.ˮ
“I really like your callsign... so ‘Roo.’ ʼˮ
“I like that too,ˮ Bradley smiled. “And the other?ˮ
“Daddy,ˮ Lucy replied nonchalantly.
Bradley nearly swerved off of the road and Lucy quickly checked on the lumpia in the backseat before laughing breathlessly.
“Jesus!ˮ Lucy chuckled. “I was only kidding, Bradley!ˮ
But deep inside, Bradley wished she wasnʼt. He swears that this girl was gonna put him in an early grave.
Penny welcomed Lucy with a hug the moment she stepped on the threshold of her house. Bradley standing was beside her with a tray of spring rolls; and Maverick and Amelia trailed behind Penny. Introductions with Amelia were made before the party entered the home. Lucy, with her fondness for design, looked around and appreciated the subtle naval and sailor themes along with the cream minimalist color palette that just brought space and light into the room. It was only 6 in the evening, and the setting sun glowed beautifully as it shone through the glass door, windows, kitchen and dining room.
They all sat together on a round, dining room table with Bradley and Lucy sitting side by side. Penny and Maverick were seated in a similar fashion, with Amelia between the two pairs. Penny and Amelia served their homemade fettuccine pasta carbonara and Pete helped with the chicken roast. A pitcher of ice tea sat in the center, and Lucy placed her spring rolls in their aluminum pan beside it. Pete stared for a considerable amount of time at the rolls — contemplating where he had seen them before. The way they were neatly folded and their savory scent were all too familiar... until he finally took a glimpse of the face across from him. It was if he was back in that little apartment 26 years ago cramped on a dining room table — looking at what was the most uniquely beautiful face he had ever seen.
“Gosh Lucy!ˮ Penny sighed. “That smells so good!ˮ
“What is that?ˮ Amelia asked quietly, intrigued.
“Itʼs lumpia,ˮ Pete answered suddenly eyes still fixated on the rolls. Lucy smiled at him, as the rest looked at him with a mildly surprised expression.
“I-I uh,ˮ Pete said shyly and then averted himself to Lucy. “Iʼve had them before. Tala made them for me once and so did her mom when I had dinner with her family.ˮ
“Thatʼs very nice of them,ˮ Penny remarked as she began serving plates of pasta and as Bradley got to work on slicing the roast chicken. “What were thet like, Lucy?ˮ
“Yeah,ˮ Lucy smiled fondly at her memory. “My family likes meeting new people. This is my grandmother’s lumpia recipe actually — in my family it’s traditionally served when meeting new people as a token of friendship.ˮ
“I like that,ˮ Amelia remarked as she began piling his plate with them. “They look like little welcome gifts.ˮ
“Hey, leave some for me,ˮ Bradley said to her.
“Youʼve had enough,ˮ Lucy laughed. “Leave some for Penny and Mav.ˮ
“I had to put them in the serving platter as fast as I could before he could eat them all,ˮ Lucy told them.
“I wrapped half of them!ˮ Bradley argued.
“And you nearly ate all that half!ˮ Lucy chuckled.
“Okay, okay,ˮ Bradley conceded as he held her hand.
“Never saw Bradley back down that fast,ˮ Penny grinned as her eyes quickly glanced at their conjoined hands. “So how did you two meet?ˮ
Bradley recollected the story of how they met at the docks of Umi, spent the day together with Sam and Phoenix, and their sunset stroll down the carnival pier. During all that, Lucy carefully gauged Pete’s reaction to the spring rolls. Did she add too much salt? Was the wrap to filling ratio just right? More importantly, was it just as he had remembered?
“What was that you told me, Angel?ˮ Bradley asked her. “ ‘If someone must have me, he must earn meʼ?ˮ
Lucy quickly returned to the conversation at hand.
“I thought that he was looking for something casual,ˮ Lucy told Penny. “And I just wanted to make my intentions clear.ˮ
“And when I dropped you off at your apartment, I asked you out and you still didnʼt believe me!ˮ Bradley reminisced.
“I still thought you were trying to get into bed with me!ˮ Lucy said. “You were pulling out all the stops!ˮ
“Looks like you damped your success rate with her,ˮ Amelia snorted.
“So what did made you go on that first date, Lucy?ˮ Penny asked her.
A beat.
Lucy shook her head, smiling at the memory of her and Bradley in front of her apartment gate, in the light of the setting Californian sun playing like a movie scene in her head — as if it was that long ago. They locked eyes.
“I told him that I only dated to marry — it was the last thing I could possibly say. He was very convincing....ˮ Lucy chuckled. “And what did you say back?ˮ
Bradley smirked.
“Is that suppose to scare me?ˮ
Penny turned to her daughter, who was silently engrossed with the entire ordeal.
“Amelia Benjamin,ˮ Penny told her quite firmly. “That is exactly how I want you to respond when boys are gonna ask you out in the near future, okay?ˮ
“Mom!ˮ Amelia gasped as Bradley and Lucy broke into fits of chuckles and giggles, amused by mother and daughter.
“I am just saying!ˮ Penny insisted exasperatedly. “If I done that when I was younger...it would have saved me a whole lotta time and heartbreak. So kudos to you, Lucy. Your mother taught you well.ˮ
“Well youʼre quiet Mav,ˮ Bradley noticed as he took a sip from his iced tea. “Those spring rolls that good?ˮ
“Theyʼre just as I remember them to be,ˮ Pete smiled, putting to bed Lucyʼs concerns. “Your grandmother... Mayumi— is she well?ˮ
“She has mild dementia now,ˮ Lucy replied, a little taken with how quickly he remembered her grandmotherʼs name. “Youʼll still enjoy your conversations with her — but the minute next, sheʼs doing something uninhibited.ˮ
“Oh?ˮ Pete remarked.
“Last year,ˮ Lucy said. “One of my cousins brought home her boyfriend and he was Japanese. You see, my grandmother lived through World War Two as a kid during the Japanese occupation. God — the moment she saw him, she got this shotgun that she kept under her bed (that we didnʼt know about) and chased him out of the house!ˮ
“Goodness!ˮ Penny gasped amusedly. “Is he okay?ˮ
“Yes, but he never came back.ˮ Lucy replied as Bradley barked a laughed.
“I remember Mayumi was always a little eccentric,ˮ Pete said. “But she was kind. Your grandfather was the scary one.ˮ
“I never really met him,ˮ Lucy told him. “He died of a heart attack when I was really young.ˮ
“Iʼm sorry to hear that,ˮ Pete replied. “...He was quite the gentlemen, and he only ever spoke when he needed to. I remember... that he was known for being a brilliant doctor — and he also was the only one at the island at the time.ˮ
“Really,ˮ Lucy remarked. “I didnʼt know that. My mom only really shares so much and my uncles never really talks about him.ˮ
“Your family is one of the close-knitted Iʼve seen, Lucy, but Iʼve learned that a lot of them liked to keep to themselves. Your grandfather was hard on all his children,ˮ Pete told her. “And although I saw that he always had a soft spot for Tala, I think he loved them all very much.ˮ
“Thank you for sharing that,ˮ Lucy smiled, keeping her spirits up. “I canʼt believe Iʼve learned more about my family from someone else than Iʼve had from them...ˮ
“Angel,ˮ Bradley drew circles at the back of her palm. “You know you can talk to me about your family, right?ˮ
“Of course I do,ˮ Lucy replied. “And I would love for you to meet them someday.ˮ
“Maybe even Mav can come along,ˮ Bradley suggested.
“How did you get to know Lucyʼs family so well, babe?ˮ Penny asked him.
“After my deployment at Atsugi, I took some downtime in the Philippines with Tala, some other nurses, and some other navy men too. ˮ Pete replied and then turned to Lucy. “Your mother, I believe, was working to get some experience in Japan before she planned to move here — and so she did, it seems. I spent some months in Palawan and I got to know your family there quite well — your six uncles, your grandfather, and your grandmother.”
“How did you meet her— my mom?ˮ Lucy spoke carefully.
“Well...ˮ Pete paused to remember — everything was coming back to him now. Her long raven hair, her tempting eyes, her singing lips and the smell of sweet white flowers. “I met her at Atsugi in this... this local bar over there and she was doing karaoke with some of her other nurse friends...ˮ
Pete could still recall even the faintest details of their first encounter. Swirls of smoke the air, pretty women in pretty clothes, Japanese pop music blared from the karaoke machine. Tala had her hair in an elegant low bun with strands that framed her face. She had on this, gorgeous silky dress that hugged her body just the right way and she was balancing both a bottle and smoke with an extender with one hand as she held the mike so naturally to her lips with the other. When she sang, people watched not only because she sounded so beautiful, but because she looked so effortless. Pete could even still remember their first conversation:
“Mind if I join you, gorgeous?ˮ
“That depends, can you sing?ˮ
“Canʼt I just listen?ˮ
“Absolutely not.ˮ
“So should I just humiliate myself for you, then?ˮ
“Just how willing are you to join me, sailor?ˮ
“...Does she still sing, your mother?ˮ Pete asked her — her exact replica.
“Y-Yeah, sometimes.ˮ Lucy answered quickly, before Penny had averted the conversation to Lucyʼs job as a marine biologist.
Pete stared at her the entire time as she animatedly discussed her job with Penny and Amelia, who also happened to be an aspiring marine biologist. Dinner at Pennyʼs was in full swing. Bradley brought up Ameliaʼs Walstead bowl on the desk in her room and well as Pennyʼs new plans of starting a garden — both of which Lucy knew a thing about. Though Lucy looked much like her mother, Pete observed that she didnʼt quite inherent her particularity for things or her chilly facade. Lucy was warm and made everyone she met feel like theyʼve known each other for quite a while. She wasnʼt quite like her. After nearly spending three hours just talking over dinner, it was now 9 PM and while Amelia lead Lucy to her room to show her Walstead bowl, Bradley, Mav, and Penny started cleaning.
“Hey Bradley,ˮ Penny told him briefly. “Iʼm gonna borrow your girlfriend for a bit before you leave. I want her opinion on that garden Iʼm starting.ˮ
“Sure,ˮ Bradley chuckled as he stood beside Pete, who was drying dishes as soon as Bradley rinsed them.
“I donʼt know how you pulled this one Bradley, but you better not screw up.ˮ Pete teased.
“God I really hope I donʼt Mav,ˮ Bradley sighed. “I really got lucky with her.ˮ
“As long as you remember that — especially when youʼre fighting,ˮ Pete smiled.
A beat.
“Hey Mav?ˮ Bradley drawled. “Can I ask you a question?ˮ
“Yeah.ˮ
“Be honest with me, okay? I promise I wonʼt tell Penny — but... Was Lucyʼs mom... An old flame of yours?ˮ
Pete placed a dish down on the rack and paused.
“Itʼs just that... the way you talked tonight about her and how you look at Lucy — just made me think... that you guys had something real special.ˮ
“Whenʼd you get all so smart?ˮ Pete grinned playfully.
“Cʼmon Mav...ˮ
A pause.
“I spent six months in Atsugi,ˮ Pete sighed. “And for four of them, I did date Tala... As soon as I wrapped up my deployment I went back to the Philippines with her for some months.ˮ
“What happened?ˮ Bradley whispered.
“We didnʼt end on bad terms, we... just had two different paths.ˮ
“Mav,ˮ Bradley huffed impatiently. “I know from my mom that you werenʼt the type to be hung over one girl when you broke hearts left and right.ˮ
“When I met Tala,ˮ Pete finally conceded and talked in a low voice. “Gooseʼs death was still over my head...ˮ
Bradley deflated slightly.
“I drank every night, I didnʼt have the best appetite, and I had... bad dreams. During that time, I felt like I didnʼt belong in the box anymore... so I wanted to hang it up. Tala healed me... She appreciated my ambition and saw the things I could still do — far before Iʼve realized that I can do them. She is… one of the reasons Iʼm still a pilot and why I still choose to be. Had she not insisted that I shouldnʼt stay with her, I wouldnʼt have been here with you.ˮ
“She mustʼve have been real stubborn if youʼre here,ˮ Bradley finally replied after a moment.
“Oh you have no idea,ˮ Pete laughed. “And you know what?ˮ
“What?ˮ
“I have a feeling Lucyʼs just the same,ˮ he grinned.
“Donʼt I already know?ˮ Bradley remarked. “Itʼs one of the things I fell for.ˮ
“Bradley Bradshaw, in love.ˮ Pete said aloud. “Now Iʼm really getting sentimental...ˮ
“And old...ˮ Bradley guffawed. “I thought you were gonna cry over that spring roll.ˮ
Pete smacked him over the head with the dish towel.
After bidding their goodbyes, Bradley drove himself and Lucy to her apartment. He turned off the ignition in front of her gate and held her hand.
“See?ˮ Bradley grinned. “You had nothing to worry about...ˮ
“Iʼm just so happy, Bradley...ˮ Lucy mirrored his smile. “Theyʼre wonderful people. Thank you for this...ˮ
Bradley cupped her cheek and pulled his lips against hers gently. She ran her hair through his honeyed locks, relishing the feeling, and when they could no longer breathe they pulled apart with pink-tinged faces. Lucy checked his dashboard. It was nearly midnight.
“Hey...ˮ she sighed. “Why donʼt you stay the night? You had a couple of beers with Mav, and I donʼt want you driving this late...ˮ
A wide, goofy grin stretched Bradleyʼs lips even further.
“Unless you—“
“Angel stop,ˮ he told her. “Iʼm just glad...ˮ
“Donʼt get any ideas, Lieutenant Bradshaw.ˮ
“Iʼm not!ˮ He insisted. “Iʼm just happy that youʼre comfortable enough to let me stay...ˮ
“Why wouldnʼt I be?ˮ Lucy crinkled her nose. “I only date gentlemen. As mischievous as they can be...ˮ
“Oh?ˮ Bradley smirked. “Who are these other gentlemen? I must meet them...ˮ
“Do you want to come in, or not?ˮ
Lucy waited tucked under the covers of her bed with a book, clad in some old gym shorts and a baggy sports shirt from a swim meet back in her teens. It was faded and distressed from over the years, but it was the most comfortable thing she owned. Her mind then drifted back to those years... to the rebellious, fiery, feminist, young girl she had been. Oh how she would chastise her older self over Bradley — she would have said that she had a promising career in something they loved and that she shouldn’t let any man get in her way. Lucy would bet she would shut up the minute she saw what she was seeing — the fine view of Bradley Bradshaw emerging from the steam of her bathroom, shirtless and wearing a pair of fresh boxers he had packed in a duffel bag at the back of his Bronco. Her cheeks burned pink at his broad, tanned chest and his lean stomach. He dried his moist locks in one of her cream-colored towels and grinned handsomely at the sight of her.
“Angel,ˮ Bradley spoke to her quietly, as he sat beside her on her mattress. “Are you sure this is okay? I can always sleep on the couch...ˮ
“I donʼt want you to sleep on the couch,ˮ she replied shyly, reaching for his big hand. “I want you to hold me, tonight.ˮ
Bradley kissed her fingers affectionately, heart warming at her loving gaze and tender touch.
“Okay,ˮ he smiled. “But I donʼt want you to feel like we have to do anything, alright?ˮ
Lucy nodded pulling the covers away on her right for him to tuck into. Bradley chuckled at her enthusiasm, positioning himself comfortably right beside her and opening an arm for her to tuck into. He propped the back of his head on his hand and used the other to embrace her. Lucy then turned off the bright lamp on her nightstand and turned on a little box-shaped nightlight on her beside table. It emitted a pale blue light, and because of the shape of its container, mimicked the fascinating scintillations of an underwater experience. When she finally settled into his embrace, Bradley pecked her forehead and she giggled.
“That is so cool,ˮ Bradley remarked at the light as he looked above her ceiling. “Whereʼd you get it?ˮ
“Itʼs a gift,ˮ Lucy replied, staring at the lights. “... Ford gave it to me.ˮ
“Heʼs a thoughtful guy,ˮ he hummed.
“When I was little,ˮ she smiled. “I wanted to be a mermaid. If you saw my side of the room, it was basically ocean-mania.ˮ
Bradley chuckled.
“Funnily enough,ˮ Lucy shared. “One of the options I kept open aside from marine biology was the Navy.ˮ
“Really?ˮ He quirked a brow.
“I liked the idea of traveling on the sea, and I admit... I thought I would meet some good-looking men.ˮ
“You would join the Navy for that?ˮ Bradley laughed.
“Iʼve seen your friends,ˮ Lucy retorted. “And youʼre a shining example of that.ˮ
“You find them attractive?ˮ
“I simply think that theyʼre good-looking,ˮ she hummed as she traced the lines across the expanse of his chest and the indents of his scars on his face. “You are the one I find attractive, and Iʼm truly fortunate...ˮ
“Youʼre lucky?ˮ Bradley smirked. “Iʼm the one with the young, gorgeous girlfriend. You got the old-timer...ˮ
“Well... I just happen to love vintage...ˮ Lucy replied impishly as Bradley chuckled.
They laid in silence, and it eventually lulled Lucy to sleep. Bradley could tell the exact moment when her body went limp and when each breath began to even with the rise and fall of her chest. He finally rested his head against her pillow. Her sheets and pillowcases were perfumed in a warm, honey, vanilla fragrance. He smiled at how her lips were opened partly, the way her eyelashes nearly grazed her cheeks, and how her hair cascaded down her chest. Her cold arms brought contrast to his warm embrace and soft sighs were slowly rocking him into his own slumber.
“Angel,ˮ he whispered softly, pressing a kiss on each of her moles — one at the edge of her lip and the other at the corner of her eye. “I love you...ˮ
Looks like dinner at Penny’s was a success! Lucy knowing who her real dad is at this point or her life must be pretty awkward… How do you think Pete will find out that Lucy is his daughter after all this time? Let’s keep this story going! Lots of fluff at 12 | Shark Week!

Silencing a Rooster - TGM - Hangman X OC
Summary: Hallie "Daydream" A-Jones and Jake "Hangman" Seresin are trying to keep their new relationship under wraps. Unfortunately, they aren't too good at keeping secrets.
Warnings/Content: Hangman x OC, OC included (about her here), kissing, silliness, rooster is a menace
Word count: 861
A/N: Surprise fic! Idk I just kinda thought of this one...the ending isn't my fave but I hope y'all enjoy anyway <3
Jake: Got the cake. Wanna help me bring it in? ;)
Hallie bit back a smile at the notification, not wanting Phoenix to start interrogations. The context of the text was nothing special apart from the streamers and the big banner that yelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLOYD! across the bar of The Hard Deck. Bob wasn’t due for another hour, and the Daggers were all happily decorating for the occasion.
No, Hallie’s smile was due to the emoji at the end, which could only mean Jake wanted a little extra sugar to go along with the cake.
“Cake’s here,” Hallie alerted Natasha. “I’m going to help.”
Phoenix nodded as she handed Payback another streamer to hang. “Good. Make sure Bagman didn’t lick it or anything gross.”
Hallie saluted and skipped outside, immediately spotting her boyfriend’s truck. The man himself was leaning against the outside, arms folded over his chest and watching her make her way towards him. When she reached him, he pulled her close and kissed her, making good on the winky face promise.
“You better watch out,” she said as she pulled away, trying to act more annoyed than she was. “Someone will see.”
“I still don’t see why we’re keeping this secret.”
It’d been Hallie’s idea. After officially confirming they were going to give a try to whatever this was between them, she’d immediately told him she wanted things quiet. It’d make things too complicated, both with their friends and with work, which she reminded the Texan of.
“You really wanna deal with Fee and everyone else?” Hallie asked.
Jake scoffed and wished the squad a good old fashioned expletive.
“Or how about Cyclone?”
The mention of their superior tamed the brave Lieutenant Seresin down some. As he replied, he pulled her back into his arms, though being good enough to keep his mouth at a distance. Hallie fought the urge to close it. Their relationship was still new, and while she sometimes wondered if she was crazy to be trying this with him, he’d show up with a smile, a gift, and a kiss she could never have enough of.
“On the other hand,” he was saying, “if Cyclone knew, we could get married. Lots of benefits for us both.”
“Easy there, Cowboy.”
“Just sayin.”
“You’re…”
“Handsome? Charming?”
“Ridiculous.”
“But I’m your ridiculous.”
“Shut up and kiss me before the cake melts. It’s insanely hot out here.”
Jake smirked. “Sorry, that’s my fault.”
Hallie pulled him down. He was vaguely sticky with sweat, his lips hot on her own, but she didn’t care. He pulled her closer and hit the back of the truck. He grunted at the impact, but didn’t break. She let a hand drift up to his hair and began to forget about Bob’s cake sitting in the backseat as another victim to California sun.
A horn jolted the duo away from each other.
“HEY! HEY! HEY!”
Bradley Rooster Bradshaw, pointing and gaping and yelling and hitting his Bronco’s horn in his shock.
“Rooster, shut up!” Hallie dashed to their witness’ open passenger window. “Would you cut that out?!”
“You and Bagman?!”
“Shut up!”
“YOU AND BAGMAN?!”
“Come on, Bradshaw,” Jake said, finally sauntering up beside Hallie. “You’ve seen me kiss girls before.”
“Not Hallie!”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“Not a big deal?!” Rooster’s mouth was practically down to the gas pedal. “You were eating my squad member’s face!”
Hallie shut her eyes. “Roo, please. We’re not telling anyone yet.”
“Then maybe you should try not making out in a public parking lot!”
“We weren’t making out.”
“Eh,” Jake shrugged. “We kind of were.”
Hallie glared at him.
“And on Bob’s birthday too!” Rooster yelled.
“Look,” Hallie leaned into the Bronco and held her curls back from the AC. “What’s it going to take to keep you from talking?”
“Ugh, don’t ask him that.”
Hallie elbowed Jake in the ribs.
“I think you both owe me beer for a month.”
“What?” Jake slapped the sideview mirror. “No way!”
“Hit Sharona again and it’ll be two months.”
“We’ll do it,” Hallie said. “But any jokes, hints, snickers, or innuendos and it’s all off.”
Rooster saluted. “You got it.”
He was starting up the Bronco again when he turned back to the window. “Can I play piano at your wedding?”
“Had it, Bradshaw!” Jake shook a fist as the man in question drove off to find a parking space.
Hallie rubbed her face.
“Well, that went well,” Jake said.
“Yeah, like Cyclone at a pool party.”
“It’s your fault, you know.”
Hallie snapped her head to him. “How is it my fault?”
Jake leaned in with a grin, so close she could inhale his cologne. “Cause you can’t keep your hands off me, Dreamgirl.”
She smacked him away. “Just go get the cake.”
He laughed and winked but obeyed. Hallie shook her head, reluctantly following to assist with the cake and wondering what she’d gotten herself into with Jake Seresin and what exactly he’d gotten into with her.
Whatever it was, she was willing to stick around to find out, no matter how many times Bradshaw whistled at them as he passed into the Hard Deck. ---

Notes: Title is inspired by Taylor Swift 'I can see you', also Top Gun Summer 2024 return idk
Timeline: Post-Top Gun Maverick
---
As the warm spring sun bathes the sprawling expanse of North Island Naval Air Station in golden light, a gentle breeze carries the scent of saltwater and blossoming flowers through the air.
The airfield buzzes with activity, the distant roar of jet engines mingling with the laughter and camaraderie of pilots and crew preparing for another day of training.
Day in and day out, pilots in and out of commission. Jordan ‘Echo’ walker, one of North Island’s finest nurses able almost has seen it all. 10 years of this job. The smooth-talking pilots to the shy wannabes.
She loves her job, don’t get her wrong, especially her regular visitors being Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell himself. But sometimes she needed a break from those guys to just breath and not have the 86’ crew breathing down her neck.
Today, it was supposed to be a simple Monday.
No calls of active duty, no injuries too bad that they can’t handle, no happy go-lucky flyboys to kick out of the waiting room. Just her ringing in patients, cleaning up tiny wounds and sending doctors to rooms for surgery.
But then again, when does Jordan ever get what she wants?
And like always she was right.
As in rolled Pete Mitchell again this week. Sometimes she wonders if Maverick does it on purpose just to see her facial expressions change the moment he walks into the room as he gives her a classic half crook grin.
In this case, he was rolled into the room as other nurses helped him off one wheelchair to the bed. She crossed her arms and sighed chuckling to herself as Maverick shrugged with the most innocent look on his face.
“What?” He asked, with a half grin despite his face hurting.
“It’s 6 in the morning, that’s what!” She exclaimed, rolling onto her chair slapping on her gloves to meet his face.
“Gentle this time. I got a date.”
“With who?”
“I’ll tell you on Monday.”
“It is Monday.”
“..Ohh! I’ll tell you on Wednesday then.”
“You goof. How hard did you hit your head?”
Maverick explained how him and another test pilot, a buddy of his, were trying out a few new jets. They were rejuvenated to do it. There were some ace planes that the military wanted them to try out, it was supposed to be set for Monday afternoon but Maverick couldn’t wait too long.
As he went yesterday afternoon, on Sunday, to get his suit, vitals and training prepared for the flying he was meant to do. His pal was dragged into the mess as well. He wanted to wait for Monday to do so, but then he realized he might as well get it over with.
Maverick said it felt like a blur, one minutes they were both in the cockpits pushing their limits and then the they risking to go mock 10, reaching the levels of 6Gs and sustainable the face to fatal damage. Most of us can withstand up to 4-6G.
However if it wasn’t his pal, who he mentioned to be named Wraith, he would’ve stayed in the aircraft. Mav wanted to keep going but Wraith streaked a couple of switches, leading the both men to eject from their shared aircraft and into the air. The two were lost for a couple in another state, until air support found them. Cain wanted a word with Maverick and Wraith, but Iceman and Silder stepped into to cover them as soon as possible.
Which now led them here to the medical wing, the clinic where Jordan worked at.
Maverick went on tell her about the situation at hand and how Ice was able to help reduce it, as Jordan let out a few laugh. It was Mav’s crazy antic that lighten up her days more than once in her lifetime. It also helped that Maverick tended to playfully flirt with her, despite being the one who was usually injured here.
~~~
However the banter was cut short as the muttered sounds of shouting and grunts came from the other room. She looked over her shoulder confused, as Maverick shrugged guessing it was his buddy having a hard time dealing with the medical staff.
It was moment like this, Jordana wishes she took a week off, sometimes her patients could be so difficult. She excuse herself from Pete’s room, requesting another nurse to take over while she goes to check up on the other patient.
It took her a few moments but she found the room next door, she expected some young cocky snarky and soft around the edges pilot some of kind. But instead, her eyes locked onto a pair of dark chocolate brown eyes that held a grit and muddy demeanor to them. He met her gaze with a soften, almost surprise look.
He was met with a pair of brown eyes, long brown hair that had more body than length, shiny tan skin. She was wearing a pair of large hoop earrings, a necklace with a tiny cross on it, light makeup that made her demeanor seem light yet no nonsense, and dark blue scrubs to match.
Captain Wraith Martin wouldn’t admit it but she was pretty. He figured she was probably some newbie nurse with no experience and a shiny puppy-like attuned way of thinking. Or that’s at least what he heard Maverick say about the nurses here, as he was a regular at here like it was a damn fast food restaurant of some kind.
The only reason why he is here was because he decided to listen to Pete’s idea on doing the test drive early, that way starting Monday morning they had less shit to do. Well look where that got him! He was sitting on a bed in the medical wing with cuts, bruises and a giant ass headache, after ejecting out of a plane and landing in the middle of Nevada.
What made it worse was that theses nurses and doctors had no business of touching him, despite him telling them that he was fine. He didn’t need any X-Ray or some useless crap like that. Yes he was in pain, he was sore and extremely tired for god’s sakes but he knew popping a few Advil and going to rest, would reduce his discomfort.
And here stood some young brunette nurse who was probably unqualified entering his room like—
He was taken out of his thoughts he was heard the nurse talking over the doctors and other nurses to get out of the room. That she would handle it. She was practically pushing them out the door, before turning around to face him wearing a half smile, pushing hair out of her face. He was silently impressed by her actions.
She picked up the clipboard to skim quickly his name and nodded.
She fixed the collar of her dark blue scrubs, and said, “Hi.”
“Hi.” He grumbled back, with a half smile that didn’t last long, “Look, baby, I know you mean well but I am fine.”
“You don’t look fine. According to my records, you were ejected from a plane.”
“Don’t pilots come and go here, being all ejected at one point.”
“Yeah but you were flying with Maverick. It’s a miracle you survived.”
“Yup. I did. Just give a order to take some medication and I’ll be out of your way.”
“I’m sorry. But you’re not leaving until I say you can go.”
“You’re a nurse, not a doctor, baby, I believe that’s—”
He was cut off by his own words when he met her gaze once again. This time, it wasn’t just her narrow eyeliner but a glare that pierced into his soul. He swears he might’ve just stuttered in front of her. He furrowed his eyebrows and scoffed, thinking he was smart for that move. But he wasn’t gonna let her win that easily.
He cleared his throat, “Uh, um, uh—a-alright. I get it, you’re a new nurse, what? You’ve been here a couple of months?”
“More than a couple of months.” She said, rolling over a table with equipment to clean his wounds as she slapped on her gloves.
“Woah, hold it there, you’re not touching me.”
“Look, it’s just a small routine here. You will be in and out of here in a few hours or less.”
“A few hours? Nope, I got work to do.”
“Iceman and Slider are covering for you. You’re fine.”
“How did you…?”
“I know the admiral, Captain Martin. Now let me do my job.”
Once again she softly glared at him, after referring to his name in a professional manner. This time, it shut him up, letting out a huge sigh of defeat. He expected the handy work to harsh and rough, yet it was gentle and softer than he imagined. He barely felt the needle pierce into his arms when he gave her an infusion through the IV. He denied it at first, but then she reminded him that he lost fluids and nutrients when he crushed.
With that, she started to clean the cuts on his shoulders and neck. She quiet when she did it, asking him every so often if it stun or hurt, as he answered her question with a soft ’no, I’m good.’
There was this awkward silence between them. The only sound being the paper from the table that held the tools she needed to do her job.
“I see that you’re a test pilot?” She asked, breaking the silence, with almost a humorous tone.
He huffed breaking into a tiny half smile, shifting in his seat and replied, “Yeah. I think it was pretty obvious.”
“I mean, you’re a test pilot, how long have you been doing this?”
“Uh..8 years more or less..”
“And you got stuck as a Captain or was it a choice?”
“Huh..well yeah, I can be an Admiral. I should be one with the skills I had.”
“What change?”
“The workload, my skill set was a bit of a risk..wait why I am telling you this?”
She lightly chuckle and shrugged, “I don’t know. I just asked, sorry I didn’t mean to pry..if I did. You just seemed on edge..just trying to lighten the mood.”
“Well, it helped. Uh, thanks.” He added, giving her a small nod, “Didn’t catch your name, nurse.”
“Nurse Walker, Captain.”
“Good to know.”
“Yeah..I apologize for my attitude earlier when I walked in.”
“It’s cool. No harm done.”
~~~
Jordan kept working on switching her technique as she stitched up his wounds and making sure the skin was given room to breathe as she did. He was silently once again impressed by her handy work and smiled to himself. Their small talk kept going as she asked him question on how his weekend went, what he liked to do, what he loved about his job and if he was any upcoming roles to fill in.
At some point, a doctor came with medication to help with his pain and help him get better. He thanked said doctor with a nod. She even noticed his body language relaxed as he was talking about himself and his weekend.
He didn’t even noticed, what she was doing in the beginning until he did. He actually appreciated it, she was calming him down to allow his body to regulate and start working with the medication given.
Yes, Echo saw him to be an asshole pilot when she first came in, she can’t blame him if she was in his shoes, he was tired and sore from his crash. He was only now getting treatment for it. She was thankful, he didn’t spat any harsh language towards her and more snarky comments. Wraith looked at her brown eyes once again and half smile at her efforts to help him. It was probably the medication but he felt relaxed and at ease in her presence. He won’t admit it, but he liked it. Her might even like her.
After the last 10 hours, he was more than thankful to be treated, it didn’t matter who it was. However he was lucky, he got her for some reason.
It was his turn to break the silence as he asked, “How long?”
“How long, what?” She asked in return.
“How long have you been working here..?”
“Ah, well, almost 10 years..well, it feels like 10 years. I only been here for less than 8.”
“So you were a nurse during my second year of becoming a test pilot?”
“More or less, yeah. But it feels like 10, you know?”
“I know what you mean. I most certainly know what you mean.”
They both released a chuckle at that point. As their laughs slowly faded, Nicholas gaze fell on Jordan once again as she gave him a soft smile in return. She won’t admit it out loud but he was handsome. She has been flyboys of all kind walk in and out of here, from hard grumps to hush flirts. Hell, she went on date or two with pilots, but they never ended well.
Oh well, nothing she can do but try to let the wind flow in her directions, even if she wasn’t looking for someone at the moment.
Yet, he was somewhere in-between. She thought he was just trying to keep a cool head and not let her see past the profile he was showcasing, either way she brought it.
He hoped she didn’t buy past the looks he was giving her. Yeah sure he was cool, calm and more so collected half the time, but after the last 10 hours he was a bit of wreck! And here comes this nice nurse treating him with respect and patiences, meanwhile he treated her like as piece of crap. He has been a couple of relationships before with ladies and gentlemen who was either made his day or ended in awkward smiles.
Either way he never put pressure on himself to find a partner of some kind. But he did hope someday he would bump into somebody who can deal with him.
Giving thanks and apologetic wasn’t ever in his resume, especially with all the times he’s been lashed back, but he knew he needed to apologize sooner or later.
“So you uh, must’ve seen a lot of weird shit huh?” He asked once again, in a softer tone that sounded like a whisper.
“Heh, yeah. I have seen officers, students,..admirals come in here. Sometimes, it’s for a tiny injury while in the building. Others, it was while they were on the deck.” She explained, almost as if she was remembering those moments.
“Really?”
“You would be surprise how many people come in here, because they hurt their hand by accident or cut themselves while doing paperwork.”
“Oh no, they are just being dramatic, at that point.”
That got another chuckle from his nurse. He even chuckled at his own comment.
She chuckled shaking her head, “That’s just mean!”
“No, I’m serious! Half of them just wanna play doctor and patient, so they decide to fake an injury to see you guys.” He replied joking.
“I bet you tried that before to see some cute nurse in high school huh.”
“Nah, not me. But my friends used to do that while in flight school. God, Cyclone wasn’t slick..”
She wanted to say something about him knowing Cyclone but decided to leave that subject alone for another time, if she got another moment with him. She wasn’t even sure that she would see him again. But knowing he was a test pilot, good chance she might wind up cleaning his wounds once again.
She wasn’t mad about that though. She kind of likes Wraith’s asshole tendencies and odd humor, it made her smile a bit. She wasn’t sure if she actually liked him or it was just because he was her patient at the moment—maybe both? All she knew that she was very much willing to see him again, if the time is right, of course.
Nicolas half smile hearing her chuckle. He mistook her for some young newbie nurse who had no business serving him with any kind of care, but he was wrong. She was kind to him and willing to engage in conversation despite him being initially reluctant to do so. Hell, she was so beautiful, patient and in over her head here.
Again, he will blame it on the IV and medication for his calm demeanor but deep down he had a small sense of appreciation for her. He allowed him to open and relax a bit.
Whether or not, he believed he needed that the moment. He secretly did.
“Uh, Wraith?” She asked softly, removing her gloves.
The snap of her gloves pulled him out of his thought and back into the reality. He noticed she was throwing her used tools into the trash and blowing hair out of her face, with almost a concerned look on her face. Oh no wait, he was looking at her, with a concerned look.
Did he say something he wasn’t supposed to?
“Wha—what?” He responded, blinking to face her once again, realizing he must’ve sounded sorta stupid.
She smiled and shook her head, “You uh, zoned out back there. Are you alright?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, I’m fine. We done here?”
“Yeah we’re done. But like I said, we will need to keep here a while longer and then release you later.”
“Oh, right, because of my crash..oh-what about Maverick? Is he fine?”
He realized he didn’t even mentioned his flight partner until now. Now he must’ve sounded inconsiderate in front of the nurse, but it didn’t seem to phase Jordan at all.
“He’s alright. I had another nurse check on him. Thankfully, neither of you need any procedures, just bed rest in the medical wing and a lot of fluids.” She explained, “Can I get you anything before I go check on something?”
“..uh, heh-um, a water bottle.” He said, giving her a half smile.
When she left, he allowed himself to throw his back against the bed and closed his eyes. Echo went on her rounds, checking on other patients, signing off on paperwork and returned with a water bottle. Matter a fact, she brought him a sandwich and a bag of chips on the side.
He stuttered saying he didn’t need or even requested those thing, but she reminded him that he needed something in stomach.
~~~
The rest of the day, Jordan bounced between her usual routine, having lunch, checking in patients and bumping into plenty physicians on the way. Her mind fell onto Maverick and his new partner in crime at the moment, something about him made her smile. It was probably his dark brown eyes or half smile, who knows?
She heard some doctors and nurses, quietly talking to themselves in hush tones about the new patients, one of them being Wraith.
One of the nurses, Jody, teased her saying she was lucky to get one of the Captains as her patients as Echo rolled her eyes. Jody was saying that because she only saw his face, but wasn’t the one who met his tough tongue. The same thing goes for Maverick, she only seen his cheeky grin but not the words behind that face of his.
The only reason both Captains weren’t grounded yet, was thanks to the Navy’s best guardian angels of their generation. It was a bonus that she knew them a little too well. She swears Iceman got a hell-a lot more patients that she does!
Her mind wondered back to the stuffy-looking pilot from earlier. A soft smile creeped onto her lips as a reminder to check up on the man. Despite his initial resistance, she found herself intrigued by the enigmatic Captain Martin.
There was something about his rough exterior that piqued her curiosity, something beneath the surface that hinted at a deeper complexity.
Wraith reclined on the bed, as his body tried to relax as he snacked on the gifted sandwiches, glancing over at the small tv in the corner of the room. He found himself wondering if his co-pilot Maverick was alright but he knew that man was in good hands, likely charming his way through his own medical treatment.
Somehow is mind wanders back to the imagine of the brunette nurse, Nurse Walker. He didn't watch her first name and despite his door being cracked open, he barely heard anyone say her full name in the halls.
He wasn't one for hospitals or people in general, yet here comes this lovely patient nurse to make him comprehend his own thoughts, like he said before he found her rather pretty and kind, despite not admitting it out loud.
He might've stammer a couple of his wording during their previous talk but now he was wondering more about her.
~~~
Reaching around 1:20pm that same afternoon, Jordan returned after stepping out for some fresh air and going home to check on a package was supposed to be delivered that day. Somehow Amazon didn’t send her a notification, that her package arrived and it worried her if it got delayed in the mail. Thankfully, one of her friends Hazel, told it everything was fine.
Jordan wasn’t one to sweat the little things too often but moments like that worried her, especially when she paid good money for a pair of earrings she brought on the site.
She found herself slowly opening the door to Wraith’s room to check on him. At that same time, Captain Martin was scrolling through his phone checking on any emails he missed while being here.
He wasn’t one to check his emails very often but after looking over social media twice and on a small handful of phone calls with friends, as well as getting bothered by physicians. The thought of glancing over at his mail didn’t sound so bad, it helped that he was listening to music while doing so.
He was listening to a couple of tracks from cinematic scores, along with some 80s classics another pilot recommended to him a while track. He half snorted at the memory of teaching a class that included some rather young students, who were singing along to Taylor Swift. He rolled his eyes at the class, but he couldn’t lie and not say, he enjoyed the artist’s music every now and then.
He respected the talent and creative artistic storytelling musicians take ever since he was young man, doesn’t matter if the music was in English or even Spanish. He enjoyed it.
His thoughts were interrupted by the door of his room slowly being cracked open, expecting it to be some other doctor or a random nurse ready to check his blood pressure again. He embraced for impacted, removing an earbud and sitting up straight, narrowing his eyes only to soften once he was met with a certain pair of brown eyes.
Nurse Walker walked in once again.
This time light blue scrubs, her pair was in a low bun and she seemed to change out of some jewelry she was wearing earlier. She half smiled at him, holding up a clipboard and a bottle of water.
Neither said a word but after a moment she spoke.
“Hey.” She said, taking a seat on the empty chair beside the bed, glancing down at the clipboard.
“Uh hey.” He responded, removing both earbuds turning to face her correctly, providing a small smile in return.
“I talked to your doctors and nurses, it looks like you’re more or less cleared to go soon.”
“Good.”
“Real good. However it is recommended you rest when you get home, take any requested medication that doctor is given and..for the sake of all of us, please don’t go flying until said so.”
“I’m not Maverick or any of my students, doc.”
“I know, I know. Knowing the history here, some patients are ours sometimes tend to not listen and hit a wall way too early..you know what I mean?”
Of course Wraith knew what she meant. Like he said, he wasn’t like Maverick, some of his friend or even his students who take off on a joy ride once they’re feeling a bit better. When he was younger, yes, he would’ve rolled his eyes at the doctors and went out to have some fun of his own, but now that he’s gotten older, he more than understands.
If he had to be honest, a couple of days of no odd shenanigans, simple teaching and rest at home sounded like a dream. He gave him a chance to catch up on shows he’s been binge watching on Netflix, read a book, take a long ass shower and even have some time for himself.
A couple of second past before he responded.
“Yeah, yeah, I understand. I know exactly what you mean.” He replied, nodding.
She softly smile, “Alright, good, we got covered. Your doctor would like for you to come in a couple of weeks to check up on things too, if that’s aright?”
“Mhm hmm, sure. I guess, I don’t mind coming in for a check up.”
“Good, is there anyone I can call to pick you up or you sign theses papers?”
Wraith thought about it, he knew Nurse Walker was trying to be nice here and it was part of the program to have someone come to make the patient heads home safely, but he didn’t really want to bother his friends. Beside Iceman already knew what was going on and already sent someone to wait for him at home. Probably one of his nieces or nephews were there waiting for him.
Jordan waited for a moment, watching his face trying to come up with an answer for her. She knew most men like him act like lone-wolfs, not needing anyone to take care of them or not wanting to worry other because it would lead to a bigger deal to manage. Most pilots come in knowing they’ve been on their own since they were 18 time or lost a lot of people, where they don’t bother calling for back too many for help. So she gets that and wasn’t too worried, knowing Iceman had anything under control.
She looked over her shoulder then faced the tall latino again, as she said, “How about you just signed the paperwork? No need for someone to come get you.”
He paused for a moment and somewhat stammered, “..uh-you’re sure?”
“I’m sure. You seem like you can handle yourself just fine, right?”
“Right, yeah, th-that sounds perfectly fine.”
Jordan smile handing him the clipboard pointing to the spaces where he must sign as he nodded flipping a pen in hand and signing his name where needed.
As he signing the second sheet of paperwork, he glanced up and softly said “..uh, th-thank you..for taking care of me today..”
“It was no problem.” She replied, giving him another soft smile.
Two short seconds later, he handed the paperwork and pen back, nodding silently. He hated the awkward silent, that was yet calming for whatever reason. He watch her flipping through the clipboard to double-check if everything was filled in correctly, making a couple of tiny marks as she went along.
Wraith honestly didn’t know if he would get another chance to see her again this week and he wasn’t going to look like an idiot coming into the clinic to get a moment with her, by making a some lame excuse. He could do that but then again it would get annoying and he wasn’t going to risk his friends teasing him for it later.
Suddenly his actions took the best of him as he mumbled his thoughts out loud, wondering if she’ll like to grab a coffee or something. Jordan looked up from the clipboard asking if he said something as he shakes his head ‘no’. She nodded, saying she’ll see him at the front desk for he can pay for his medical bill, that the navy usually covered.
He watched her walk away again, as he let out a loud sigh. He covered his face with one hand and grumbled.
~~~
Soon enough, he grabs his jacket and heads out to front desk flipping out a couple of dollar bills to pay for his bill, not before checking up on Maverick real quick.
As he arrived, he notices Nurse Walker is there chatting with her colleague, before turning her attention to him. She smiles taking the moment to sign off on his day here at the medical wing, as another nurse takes care of his bill. Wraith takes a moment to slip on his brown jacket as his ears catches to someone calling Walker, the name Jordan, which caused a small smile to appear on his lips.
His nurses name was Jordan Walker.
He thought about his tiny statement earlier about wanting to ask her out, yet as he looked around at the station and the long day he has had, he sadly decided against it. The man was literally thrown out of a jet and into another state just 24 hours ago. He was still pretty sore and tired, he wouldn’t be right.
Not just that, his friend was still being kept here overnight due to the hit he took. He also knew he had a long meeting scheduled sometime this week to discuss his accident with Maverick.
Even if he did ask decide to her, he wouldn’t know how to. Or if she’ll even expect going on a date with someone like him. He’s been though a lot in his life already and she probably has seen men try to do to the same thing before. He would probably another hot-shot flyboy to her, who will ask her out and never call again. She might as well reject him right then and there in front of her colleagues.
But a part of him wanted to think positive about this.
Wraith decided he could do it some other day. Maybe he’ll approaches her, outside the medical wing or when he decides to check up on Maverick during visiting hours. He could strike up a conversation, try to be casual as he asks about her day.
It could work. He’ll see what happens.
With that, he thanked the nurses and staff at the front desk with a nod, giving Nurse Walker—Jordan, a small wave and left.
Jordan returned the small wave, after dispatching his paperwork into a file and nodded to herself. She smiled softly, remembering the small moment of hesitation on his face before giving a small nod then walking out. She couldn’t help, but wonder what he could possibly be thinking about, knowing he must’ve had a busy week ahead of himself.
Their whole interaction before he left was simple and pretty common like any other, however she could he maybe wanted to ask for something else. But she couldn’t figure out what it was, maybe he wanted to invite her somewhere? She knew some pilots tend to be cookouts and pretty much allow anyone to invite a plus one. Or maybe it was something else.
Jordan spend her years here, not going out much as she rather stay home and watch a movie. However she never had anyone truly invite or ask her out before, unless she knew them as a friend.
All she knew was that Wraith, despite his gruff exterior wasn’t half bad in her opinion.
She slowly finds herself drawn to her day with him, knowing he might be back for visiting hours with a friend or two to see Maverick. Or he might just let it be, never see her again until a further accident to leads to two to bump into each other.
Either way, she was somehow fine with it.
Born To Die - Epilogue
Chapter Summary: The mission is over and now everyone recovers
A/N: I'm really proud of this story because it's my first fanfic that I've finished. I hope you all have enjoyed it, but this isn't the last you've seen of Allison and Erin
Erin had never been happier to be on dry land in her entire career in the navy. Returning to base with the detachment meant debriefings and meetings. Admiral Simpson had let them all know that after all of the debriefings they would be allowed two months of leave, but anyone who directly played a role in the mission was required to see the base psychologist and get cleared before they could fly again.
Her first night back was spent at Pete’s with Bradley. Erin needed to know they were both there, assurance they were really alive. Pete and Bradley hadn’t really talked, but a temporary truce was in place while they all recovered. Erin didn’t know how she was gonna move on from it all, but it helped having her family back.
“Hey, what’s going through that brain of yours?” Bradley asked her one night while they shared a drink on Pete’s back porch.
“I almost lost you,” Erin looked at him, “And I don’t ever want to feel that again.”
“You won’t,” Bradley promised her, taking her hand in his own, “If I have anything to say about it, you won’t.”
“But you don’t,” Erin responded, “You don’t have anything to say about it. We have no control over any of it. Over where we get put, which missions we get put on. I could lose you as easily as you could lose me. And I just barely got you back, Bradley.”
“That’s what we signed up for, Erin,” Bradley pulled her closer to him on the bench they were sitting on, “But we have us to fight for. Someone to come home to. I promise you I will spend every flight, every mission, every deployment fighting to come home to you.”
“Okay,” Erin nodded, placated for the time being, “And I promise the same, even though that’s more up to Allison than me.”
“I’m sure Allison wants you to come home just as much as I do,” Bradley chuckled softly.
“Hmm,” Erin hummed in agreement, laying her head on his shoulder, “Well, that’s cause she wants to be home with Seresin.”
“How did that happen?” Bradley asked Erin, changing the subject, “Those two are the most explosive pairing I’ve ever seen, I swear.”
“It actually happened during my first run at Top Gun,” Erin told him, “You know how the three of us were in the class before you and Natasha? Well, the two of them could not stay away from each other, ever. I just remember Javy and I placing bets on when they would figure their shit out and just get together.”
“How was Hangman at Top Gun?” Bradley questioned.
“Oh, worse than he is now,” Erin joked, laughing slightly, “God, he was insufferable. But me, Allie, him, and Javy, we were unstoppable together. A little quartet during Top Gun, we fell apart afterwards. I know Allie and Javy stayed in touch though.”
“Yeah, that’s how Tasha and I were during Top Gun,” Bradley told her, “She was this spitfire of a pilot and had decided that she and I were going to be friends and there was no arguing with her. She reminded me of you and it was back when we weren’t talking.”
“I’m happy you had somebody when I couldn’t be there for you,” Erin told him truthfully, “But I hope it never reaches that point again.”
“I won’t let it,” Bradley assured her, “I’m different now, so are you.”
“Yet we still found our way back to each other,” Erin commented, smiling at Bradley. She couldn’t imagine being with anyone who wasn’t Bradley Bradshaw.
—
Allison was startled out of getting ready by a doorbell ringing through the little base house that her and Erin were sharing. She opened the door to reveal Jake staying there. He was in a nice button down, jeans, and unsurprisingly, cowboy boots. In his hands he held a bouquet of assorted flowers. When he saw her his eyes widened slightly. Her hair was loose and down, she was in a very simple dress that complimented her figure, and she had on makeup that wasn’t too crazy yet still complimented her facial features.
“Cat got your tongue, cowboy?” Allison teased, taking the flowers from his outstretched hand.
“Can’t help it when I’m looking at a pretty lady, such as yourself,” Jake responded, following Allison inside as she went to find a vase for the flowers.
“Who said I was a lady?” Allison smirked at him, “So, you finally going to tell me what we’re doing tonight? You have not been very forthcoming with details.”
“I figured I could cook for you?” Jake asked, raising a bag of groceries that Allison had been too distracted to see.
“Don’t ruin my kitchen,” Allison told him, which he took as permission to start working. Allison gathered two wine glasses for them, grabbing a bottle her and Erin had stashed away. Jake had gotten some water boiling for pasta and was beginning to make pasta sauce.
“Where’s your other half?” Jake asked her as he began cutting some vegetables, “I figured I’d see her lurking somewhere around here.”
“She’s with Maverick and Rooster,” Allison responded, “She only comes home if she needs clothes or other essentials. Other than that, she’s been staying with them.”
“I wonder how pops feels about having two lovebirds under his roof,” Jake chuckled softly.
“I think he’s just happy to have them home,” Allison took a sip of her wine, “If what Erin has told me is anything to go by, it’s been awhile since the three of them have seen each other.”
“Hmmm.” Jake seemed to be lost in thought as he continued to cut up the vegetables.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Allison asked, setting her wine glass down on the counter.
“Erin told me something… after that first fight we got into before the mission,” Jake admitted, “I can’t help but think about it.”
“What did she say?” Allison questioned with a tilt of her head.
“She said that one of these days you’re going to stop giving me chances,” Jake responded, moving to put the vegetables in a pan on the stove with some tomato paste.
“Oh…” Allison nodded, watching Jake cook. He couldn’t quite meet her eye, but Allison could see something written across his features. She chose to call it regret.
“I just don’t, I don’t want to mess this up again,” Jake finally looked up, “This is going to sound bad, but all I could think when I heard Maverick, and then Rooster, go down is thank god it wasn’t you.”
“I get it,” Allison admitted to him, “That’s the exact thought going throuh my head when Maverick chose Rooster instead of you.”
“Why?” Jake asked her, his surprise at her words evident in the way his eyes widened, “I was horrible to you before the mission. I have done nothing to earn your worry.”
Allison stepped closer to him and cupped his face with one hand, “You didn’t have to earn, you just had it. You are deserving of kindness and good things. I don’t know why you acted the way you did while we were training, I’m not going to push you to talk about it, but nothing you do could make me hate you.”
“What did I do to deserve you?” Jake looked at her, that one question almost breaking her, “I thought I was going to lose you on that damn mission and I just thought that I would never get the chance to tell you…”
“Tell me what?” Allison asked, her eyes searching his as if he held all the answers to the universe.
“That I love you,” Jake confessed, glancing away afraid. Afraid she was going to reject him even after all this time.
“I love you too,” Allison confessed in turn, drawing his eyes back to her. They stood their for a beat, just looking at each other, before Jake leaned down and captured her lips with his own. She kissed back, her hands moving to rest on his shoulders.
“The foods going to burn if you keep distracting me like that,” Jake quipped once they had pulled away. Allison giggled softly, shaking her head in amusement.
“You better get back to work than,” Allison pushed him gently, “Cause I’ve been promised dinner.”
“Yes ma’am,” Jake turned back to the food, stirring the vegetables in the sauce as the pasta boiled in a different pot. The rest of the night was easy. A little wine, a little food, maybe something a little more. It was the peace Allison had been searching for…
—
Somebody had the bright idea to make a ‘Daggers’ group chat. Erin and Allison both had their bets on Fanboy. From that group chat came the idea of having a barbeque before everyone was sent back to their separate squadrons. Allison had to do some extra convincing with Jake and Erin was the one who convinced Pete to let the group use his backyard, but soon enough the backyard barbeque had made its way out of the group chat.
“Erin! Allie!” Neil yelled out, catching both girls' attention as they walked into the back yard, plastic bags full of paper plates and plastic utensils in tow, “Come play cornhole with us.”
“Against you and Callie? No way,” Allison refused, “When have Erin and I ever stood a chance?”
“Oh come one,” Neil pouted slightly, “We promise to take it easy.”
“Come on, Allie,” Erin dragged her over to their friends. Allison went along, shaking her head the entire way. After about twenty minutes of playing, Bradley and Jake both walked over to the group. Allison and Erin were genuinely shocked to see the two of them joking with each other.
“What did you say to Jake?” Erin muttered to Allison.
“Nothing, honestly,” Allison muttered back, “I thought it was something you said to Bradley.”
“What are our favorite girls up to?” Jake asked, slinging an arm around Allison’s shoulder. The girls could hear Neil and Callie complaining about the two distracting them from the game.
“Just getting our asses kicked at cornhole,” Allison replied, “What about you two conspirators?”
“Yeah, when did the two of you become best friends?” Erin crossed her arms, looking at the two boys.
“Rooster over here was just groveling at my feet for being his savior,” Jake smirked at Bradley, teasing him.
“If you say so, Hangman,” Bradley rolled his eyes, placing an arm around Erin’s waist. Allison and Erin made eye contact and started giggling.
“Hey, lovebirds!” Natasha yelled out to the quartet, “Mav has an announcement for us all, stop flirting and get over here.”
The four all moved to gather around Pete, who had just rejoined the group after getting pulled away for a call. Pete was full of barely contained excitement as he looked at the pilots and WSOs.
“So I just got off the phone with Admiral Bates,” Pete explained, “And it has been decided that the Daggers will be staying here as a new fighter squadron. I was supposed to wait until all of your leave was up, but since I have you all here I might as well. Your main mission will be flying missions that no one else can, but you will also be pulled in to help teach Top Gun classes.”
“All of us, sir?” Allison asked, looking around at everyone.
“All of you, even the ones who didn’t fly the mission,” Pete confirmed. Cheers erupted amongst the group, everyone turning and hugging each other as excited chattering fell over the crowd. They were getting to stay together, all of them.
“I knew they couldn’t split us up,” Erin declared, “We’re just too good to be split.”
“Everything will be completely explained once your leave is over,” Pete told them, “But for now just enjoy your time off. You all earned it.”
