❗EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS ❗

Three days ago, I got robbed. All my savings and some important pieces of my car (my main source of income) are gone, so I need help for replacing the piece and paying rent.

Httyd au in which Hiccup gets to be the feral dragon boy he was destined to be.

Basically, what if the underwater scene in the first movie when Stoick frees Toothless from his chains during the fight with Red death didn't happen? (Im talking about that scene before Stoick tells Hiccup that he's proud to call him his son)

I think there was some form of understanding between Toothless and Stoick in that scene. When Stoick pulled Hiccup out the water and broke Toothless free he showed Toothless, for the first time, that he wasn't the enemy here. Not anymore.

What if that had never happened?

What if Toothless managed to break the chains, all by himself, fuelled by his panic when he saw Hiccup drowning? What if Hiccup managed to cook up a last minute plan to free him, using all those sharp bits of metal and debri to do the job quicker, before he lost breath?

In both cases the fight would probably go like how it did in canon, minus the heartfelt moment Hiccup shared with Stoick before the battle.

Hiccup would still get knocked off by the Red Death's tail, and Toothless would undoubtedly go after him, having to bite his leg off in process, etc etc.

But,,,,when Stoick finally finds them after the battle, worried out of his mind, thoughts consumed by the fact that the last thing Hiccup might've heard from him was him declaring that he wasn't his son, he does not encounter a trusting night fury. Toothless does not unfurl his wings to show him his son.

Instead, he glimpses his son under it's wings as it shifts, standing with no little difficulty, with Hiccup's limp form between it's forelegs as it growls and hisses at him.

Toothless absolutely mauls anyone daring to approach them, and it eventually has to be subdued by the entire gang + their dragons. It isn't an easy feat, despite Toothless also being injured and drained by the battle.

In the end, they manage to get Hiccup the medical care he needs, the dragons ferry the vikings back to Berk, and it's all a very slow process, especially with the feral protective Night Fury stubbornly guarding Hiccup. Astrid is the only one able to approach them.

And that trend continues,,,even long after Hiccup has recovered. Toothless makes every effort to drag him away from people, and on the rare occasion he isn't successful, he just spends the whole time threatening the poor sods foolish enough to come too close.

As a result, Hiccup spends much of his time away from people, except for Astrid and the gang and most of his time is spent around dragons, learning about them and just being Hiccup being feral.

He goes of flights further and further away from Berk, trips lasting longer and longer, and Stoick fears one day he might never come back. He talks to the beasts in their own language, with hisses and clicks and chirps, the draconic sounds bleeding into his Norse. The Night Fury follows him like his own shadow, protecting him far better than Stoick ever could.

He rues the day he disowned his son.

For it seemed as if the Night Fury knew what he had done, and took Hiccup as it's own hatchling.

Summary: Hiccup doesn't want Toothless to think Hiccup is mad at him. Even if the workshop nearly got set on fire.

It's gotten snowier and snowier in Berk.

But that's life.

Toothless likes to curl up inside while the forge-fires blaze on, purring out a deep animalistic growl in his sleep.

He also likes to get nosy, sniffing and inspecting Hiccup's inventions

"Put that down!" Hiccup insists. 

Toothless's pink, mucus-slimy gums clamp on a hunk of iron. 

"You're gonna get dragon drool all over that!" 

When Hiccup attempts to pull it, Toothless's eyes slit. During the struggle, Hiccup's elbow knocks a red-hot chisel perched on the stove, tumbling it over.

"Oh—COME ON!"

Hiccup pitches himself, grabbing a water-dampened rag and fanning away the smoke now roiling off the oaken table. In seconds, it bursts into flames.

DAMN IT!

"By all of the gods—you have got to be KIDDING me—" Hiccup yells, throwing up his hands in exasperation. The intensifying heat swells.

Sweat drips down the back of Hiccup's neck.

Before anything else can happen, a baby Chillblaster pokes its head into the rear-doorway. Hiccup watches in adrenaline-screaming fascination as the dragon blasts the workshop's table in a layer of thickened ice.

"Oh," he says dazedly, no longer sweating copiously.

Hiccup's heart races.

"—WHAT IN THOR'S ALMIGHTY NAME??!"

Gobbler stomps in, frantic.

"Buddy, are you okay?" Hiccup whispers, bending down to where Toothless hunches, his ear-flaps flattening. "I'm sorry. It was my fault, wasn't it?"

An inquisitive purr-growl.

"No, no, I shouldn't have been so careless…"

Hiccup smiles and rubs Toothless' neck, making the dragon rumble contently.

Toothless's bright green eyes lid.

"What are you doing, lad?" Gobbler asks, more baffled than anything.

"Uh, well, I just don't want Toothless to think I'm mad at him… you know?"

Gobbler scratches his beard, looking the workshop's table encased in a sheen of shiny, silvery ice. "I can't say I do," Gobbler proclaims, shaking his head.

Hiccup chuckles, slowly straightening up.

"Alright, buddy, how about you let me have the…"

With a loud thud, Toothless loses interests in what's in his mouth and curiously pads away to snuff the baby Chillblaster cawing eagerly.

"… I knew you would understand," Hiccup monotones, picking it up.

That's life in Berk.

I watched HTTYD 2 and 3 last night and my intention was to speedrun for the plot...but I got so engrossed I ended up on my bed at 3am soBBING over these parallels and the bond between toothless and hiccup :( It was so beautiful I swear it never made me cry this hard.

The last time I watched these were probably in cinemas when they came out. I started thinking about them again when I had a soundtrack interest era that start about 1-2 months ago thanks to Avatar and Miraculous, and it reminded me of HTTYD :" since the soundtrack was sooo good

Watching HTTYD again now being able to appreciate the parallels and discourses (e.g soundtrack, animation, angles and expressions) used in greater detail just shOOK my world...

I wanna talk briefly about the weight of this scene specifically T-T and appreciate the significance of this touch. It's so simple, non verbal, communicative. I like that it's a rare, long drawn out moment. I like that it's so subtle and it has just a few main things about it that make it such an emotional gesture :( The touch itself, not action of not looking directly at each other and its easily-understandable yet inexplicit indication to the start and end of a soulful intertwined bond.

It at the end of the 3rd movie beat any kind of 'memory flashback collage'. It really reminded me how body language and actions can be (and to me, are) the most powerful words.

Slap on top of the action a developed and deep context. THEIR context of growing up together, bringing out each other's best. Becoming better creatures, leaders, adventuring, falling in love, starting families. And US the audience being a first hand witness to all this, even more so to those who watched the TV series.

It is a quiet, intimate moment we can relate to because we were there when it began :( And we felt the bond discover itself yet also see it slowly pull away with the lingering of hiccup's fingers being taken off and toothless's closed eyes and stillness.

It makes me ecastatic- crazy- gosh. I don't know how they do it. This one is just special. I'm so in love with how the whole of these 3 movies played out. Usually I am incredibly critical, I find faults and issues even when I don't want to. But this one has taken my heart, flipped it inside out, made me warm and cold, and sits so so well in my soul.
