We were so close to a sequel to 2018's Tomb Raider movie. After years of development hell, Tomb Raider's sequel was on track for production before tragedy struck.

Mathias Vogel (Tomb Raider) Falling For You Would Include

You’re a professor of history at a renowned university, and when you one day find a map hidden in the back of a book, you believe it’s your destiny to find Himiko on Yamatai Island.

Finding someone with a boat willing to take you, you head that way, but a terrible storm hits over the Devil’s Sea.

You wash up on the island after a shipwreck the next morning, clothes tattered and left mostly in your underclothes. Mathias carries you to his tent himself, ordering his men not to touch you

When you wake up, you realize where you are, and look around. Where your face was previously cut up and bleeding, it is now clean and tender. You’re in your bra and panties, with a blanket draped over you. You look around to find your rescuer, but he approaches you first.

“Someone’s awake,” he smiles, and hesitates to stroke your beautiful face– he doesn’t want to give the wrong vibe.

“Were you the one who… brought me up from the water?” you ask softly, voice still hoarse from screaming for help last night on the boat

“Shh, don’t speak. Save that voice. Yes honey, I was.”

You’re astonished at the kindness of this man, and wrap the blanket tighter around yourself. “Where did I end up?”

“Where were you going?”

You tell him everything, and he inhales. “You reached where you wanted to go, at least. But I can’t let you to in there. It’s too dangerous.”

You scoff. “I can help you get in! All I want is a look– you can do whatever you like with her after that.”

He thinks about it, and finally nods.

“And what’s my rescuer’s name?” you add.

“I like the sound of "your rescuer,” he jokes, then sits across from you. “Mathias Vogel.”

You look at the man up close, realizing how striking he is. The first thing that had drawn you in was his voice, deep and sensual, and his face is quite handsome too

“What are you doing on an island like this, Mathias?”

He stares into your eyes. “Please, you can call me Matt. I’m trying to get back to my family.”

Your heart sinks a little. “Your family? Your.. wife?”

He ducks his head, smiling. “She died years ago. My kids, I mean.”

Your spirits lift again.

He spends these few days nursing you back to health, then by the end of the week, you’re set to journey into the mountain. The night before you go, Mathias is nervous

“I’ve waited so long for this. What if she isn’t even in there? We’ll never get off this damn island.”

“It’s okay,” you tell him, “Everything happens for a reason.”

He looks at you, by the soft lamplight, and brushes a piece of hair from your eyes. “You know (y/n), I think it does.” You then lean in and kiss him, Mathias putting his hand on the back of your head and drawing you in deeper

He fucks you into the little cot he sleeps in, loving it as he hasn’t had any for a very long time. He’s amazing at maneuvering in bed, and you’re hanging onto him for the ride as he takes you hard and rough, holding you and whispering praise in your ear.

The next day, you lead them to the entrance, and open it

“Be careful…” he’d warn you gently, hands slotting behind you on your hips, and you’d blush.

“I am.”

You open the thing, but when it becomes apparent the curse is real, you two make it out of there quickly, trying to think of another way off the island

You suddenly see a ship drifting far too close to the rocks, and chance a jump onto it from the cliffs. Mathias comes with you, and you make the landing– comandeering the ship and setting sail for home immediately
