ben + baby ethan drabble part 3!
summary: it's ethan's second birthday!
Last year, Dad insisted on taking a Polaroid picture of him holding Ethan as his baby was instructed to blow his ‘1’ candle. Ethan did, spraying spit everywhere, and today, on his second birthday, he blows his ‘2’ candle with less spit and Ben is next to him and Dad uses the same Polaroid camera to take their picture.
It’s their tradition now, Ben decides.
“Handsome birthday lad!” Dad gushes, handing over the camera to Ben as Mum shakes the Polaroid. “Come give Pops a kiss.”
“Kiss, kiss,” Ethan shrieks, bouncing in place, short arms reaching for his Pops. “Mwah!”
“Did you get it?” Mum asks, and Ben nods, giggling, lowering the camera.
Dad and Mum’s birthday presents are a mini version of Ben’s Mercedes G-Class SUV and £200 to be put into Ethan’s future bank account (they gave him £100 last year.) Ben’s is a replica of a construction helmet Bob the Builder wears, and Ethan refuses to take it off the whole day.
Théa, Tara, and Tomás crafted a handmade birthday card with a stick figure illustration by Tara (but the hair was exclusively drawn by Théa.) Kieran and Leo planted a tree in a Borneo rainforest under Ethan’s name, and Declan and Kai gifted an annual membership to the London aquarium and the London zoo.
They eat the strawberry cheesecake with tea. Ethan feeds Ben minuscule bite after bite, and Dad pretends to be jealous. To compensate, Ethan sits in his lap as they watch baby animals documentaries.
+
Ben goes to the IT department’s floor, which is not located in a sad little basement as what pop culture depicts in the media. In fact, it’s very sunny. Quiet, though, at least that much is true.
“Hi,” Ben greets a blonde, well-built lad with an arm tattoo. He’s the only one not wearing headphones. “Morning. Is Willo in?”
“Oh, hiya,” the lad says, smiling. “Morning. Willo called in sick today, so, no.” He nods his head towards what is probably Willo’s desk. It has very minimal trinkets. There are actually little figurines of a lion and other wild animals around his desktop, though.
“Do you want to leave a message for him?”
“I’ll just send him an email,” Ben says, chuckling, remembering their chance encounter at the zoo. The hot twunk is not a liar, then. “Sorry, what’s his work email address?”
From: [email protected]
Subject: Cake from Ethan
Dear Willo,
Stopped by your dept, but youre not in today. Hope you’ll feel better soon.
It was Ethan’s birthday yesterday, and I had some cake for you. Will you be in tomorrow? Let me know.
Best wishes,
Ben

Nurses and senior management in Pirkanmaa are not seeing eye to eye, according to Helsingin Sanomat, after the wellbeing services county Pirha decided to start charging for phone consultations.
Since the middle of last month, Pirha started invoicing call-backs from staff at 30 euros a piece. So far patients have only been billed for calls made by doctors.
Pirha's head physician, Eija Tomás, argued that the new system will actually save patients money.
"The clinic visit fee and the old phone fee used to be 46 euros. If the patient's matter is such that they don't necessarily need to come in person, they now pay only 30 euros for handling their matter over the phone," she said.
Nurses have raised concerns that senior citizens living on modest pensions will lose out as healthcare moves toward telemedicine.
"These people won't become digitally savvy or wealthy, no matter how much we would like them to," one nurse told HS.
Russia's visa regime
Russia is working on easing visa procedures for several countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, reports Ilta-Sanomat, citing statements by Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zaharova.
Ilta-Sanomat asked Jarno Limnéll, a National Coalition Party MP, what Russia's long-term goal is in relaxing its visa rules.
Limnéll, a cyber security expert often cited in the media, said Russia may use visa-free travel as a tool for hybrid influence.
"If this is true, it's certainly aimed at facilitating people's access to Russia, and one reason may be this hybrid influencing and directing people towards the [Finnish] border," he said.
On Thursday the Finnish government has proposed allocating an extra 86 million euros for the Border Guard this year. The majority of the funds would go towards expediting the construction of fencing along Finland's border with Russia.
Borrowers wait for relief
Relief for mortgage holders may be slower than anticipated, reports Kauppalehti, even though Eurozone inflation slowed to 2.6 percent last month.
The 12-month Euribor, the most common reference rate in Finland, is expected to gradually decrease to below three percent around the turn of the year, according to the business daily.
"At the end of last year, we were expecting this [lower rates] a bit too much. Now it's clear that the development seems slower. But interest rate cuts will happen," Danske Bank research director Heidi Schauman said.

Haro is a Spanish city and municipality, located northwest of the autonomous community of La Rioja, whose homonymous region is head as well as is the most important town of the Rioja Alta. Academic Blog 10: VR, AR and MR Technologies - Unreal City
“Unreal City” this work uses augmented reality technology to present digital sculptures on the banks of the Thames in London. Visitors can experience the art world that combines virtuality and reality through a mobile app in the heart of London. Unreal City includes digital art work from the digital designers all around the world. Visitors can easily download free Acute Art app to interact with the artifacts.
Figure 1. Olafur Eliasson, Caring Northern Light and Lucky Stone. Augmented reality.
McLuhan and Fiore (1967) believe that media are extensions of human senses, and different media can redefine our sensory experience. For example, the phone can be used as an extension of hearing, and the car can be used as an extension of footsteps.
AR technology is also a manifestation of this extension. It expands the audience's perception of space and art by integrating virtual objects with reality. In "Unreal City", artists used AR technology to integrate digital sculptures and images into the Thames River landscape, creating a new "hybrid space." This combination allows viewers to perceive real and virtual elements simultaneously, experiencing a sensory extension beyond reality. Visitors can see digital sculptures floating above the river on their mobile phone screens, and these sculptures only exist on a digital level. This aligns with McLuhan and Fiore (1967)'s point about how media can reconfigure human senses, showing the potential of technology in redefining reality.
Furthermore, Baudrillard (1983) points out in his theory of "hyperreality" that virtual images may be more attractive than real ones, and even replace reality itself. For example, video games can make players feel like they are in the game, and break through the impossibility of reality so that players can experience a surreal experience.
In "Unreal City", digital sculptures not only supplement the real world, but also become a more attractive existence than reality. For example, the virtual sculptures in the work are presented with high-gloss detail and animation effects that cannot be achieved in reality. When visitors experience these digital sculptures, they may be more focused and immersed than when facing traditional sculptures.
Figure 2. Tomás Saraceno, Maratus volans (peacock spider), Prototype for Web of Life. Augmented reality
In Tomás Saraceno's Maratus volans (Figure 2.), AR technology highly exaggerates the details of the peacock spider, such as its unique vibrant colors and dance behavior, allowing viewers to appreciate the creature’s beauty they never had before. This virtual representation not only simulates the appearance and behavior of the spider, but also magnifies the details that are difficult to detect in nature, making the simulation itself more attractive than reality. This “more realistic reality” exhibits what Baudrillard (1983) describes as the fourth stage of imagery, which is “a simulation completely detached from any real connection”.

Alessandro Bazzoni and Siri Evjemo-Nysveen try to clean up their image in the Financial Times and come out “roasted”
The Italian businessman Alessandro Bazzoni and his wife Siri Evjemo-Nysveen, wanted internationally for the theft of more than 3 billion dollars from PDVSA, tried to get an approach to the prestigious media The Financial Times and came out destroyed in the final report published this Saturday.
In a typical move by a Public Relations team, the couple sought to declare to the British media that they had no relationship with Alex Saab, that it is “pure speculation” that they have invested millions of dollars in Polo horses and that he is the owner of the Maltese company Elemento LTD - in charge of transporting Venezuelan oil abroad and the reason why Bazzoni was sanctioned by the OFAC in 2021 - but the FT “background check” left the couple in a worse position.
Starting with the main image, where Alessandro Bazzoni appears next to the LaFerrari hybrid, a Ferrari project also known as the F150, and which is worth close to one and a half million dollars. One of the 499 units manufactured of this model is the one that Bazzoni took home as a prize in a polo tournament held in 2021 in Egham (England), when his Monterosso Polo Team was beginning to emerge internationally thanks to money from corruption in PDVSA.
His wife, Siri Evjemo-Nysveen, is also the owner of the MT Vikings, another squad that participates in some minor tournaments. Evjemo-Nysveen, through her role as vice president of the Swiss bank MBaer Merchant Bank (of the Julius Bär Group) helped introduce money from bribes and thefts in PDVSA into the banking system. Some of the clients, related to these businesses, whom he introduced to the bank are Colonel Antonio Pérez Suarez, the family of former minister Tareck El Aissami and Álvaro Pulido Vargas.
Recently, the media outlet News Break revealed that the British justice system is investigating the circle of polo players related to Alessandro Bazzoni and Siri Evjemo-Nysveen for suspected money laundering in the purchase and sale of copies.
The athletes who have been summoned to testify for their relationship with the Bazzoni/Evjemo-Nysveen couple are:
• Alejandro Pistone
• Angela Moran
• Antonio Heguy
• Benjamin Urquiza
• Charlotte Pykett
• Christopher “Cris” MacKenzie
• David “Pelón” Stirling
• Diego Tomás Cavanagh
• Emma Boers
• Emma Claire Wood
• Emma-Lou Becca
• Facundo Sola
• Guillermo Terrera
• Guillermo “Sapo” Caset
• Hazel Jackson
• Inez Bethell
• Ignacio Novillo Astrada
• Ignacio “Cubi” Toccalino
• James Beim
• James Crossley
• Joaquin Pittaluga
• John Paul Clarkin
• Juan Gris Zavaleta
• Juan Martín Nero

• Matias Gonzalez
• Matt Perry
• Rosanna Turk
• Rosendo Torreguitar
• Ross Ainsley
• Saad Audeh
• Sam Browne

Both Alessandro Bazzoni and Siri Evjemo-Nysveen are unable to leave the UK due to an Interpol red alert issued by Venezuela. Two of their front men, Erik Roveta and Germán Bonelli, were arrested this year in Greece and Argentina respectively and are awaiting deportation to the Caribbean country.

pedro pascal & he/him / cismale ‷ watch out , tomás rojas has crash-landed into roswell !! they look forty one years old and celebrate their birthday on september 21st . they are from roswell nm, reside on puhlman ranch and are currently running the ranch as its owner. one thing you should know about them is he's grown up in roswell his entire life, and when the ranch went up for sale he jumped at the chance to buy it.‷
tomás grew up as the oldest of four siblings - with three younger sisters, he’d always seen himself as their protector, even if they could handle themselves. he never doubted their capabilities, but it didn’t change the innate urge he had to take care of them whenever he got the chance, and when they were each in high school, he had quite the habit of at least half-scaring off any potential boyfriends they had, which is something they still won’t let him live down to this day. given his status as a singleton in his forties now, they also enjoy teasing him and suggesting that he’d been trying to condemn them to a life alone just like he is, and making jokes than he needs a partner to take care of him, considering he eats steak or burgers for dinner most nights. it’s something they say lovingly, but he still rolls his eyes whenever they mention it.
he’s always loved animals and has sort of idealized the idea of farm life, to the point that he even went to college for agriculture ( and animal husbandry ). when the old owners of puhlman ranch put the place up for sale so they could retire down to florida when tomás was twenty five, he poured just about everything he had - and the help of an investor he’d worked with after college, who was impressed with the skills he’d shown regarding horse training and breeding - he managed to scrape together a down payment big enough to get a bank to agree to give him a loan, and he’s owned the ranch ever since. on top of the agricultural aspects of the ranch, he has a small herd of cattle and a decently thriving horse breeding and training business - and a few other animals thrown in for good measure.
he wears glasses, but as they’re pretty unpractical for ranch life, he only wears them in the morning and late at night, and wears contacts the rest of the day.
#roswellintro#i stg this was way more eloquent in my head but i can NOT remember half of what i wanted to write so this is what you get

Senegal Technology Park Building News
19 May 2021
Senegal Technology Park Building, Africa
Design: IDOM
Location: Diamniadio, near Dakar, Senegal, West Africa
Within the framework of the Senegal Emergent Plan (Plan Sénégal Émergent-PSE), the Ministry of Communications of Senegal has adopted a policy to stimulate the development of the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) sector. The national ICT strategy aims to promote the creation of an attractive space for investment, as well as access to ICTs for the society in general.
With this in mind, the Government is promoting the construction of the Digital City project, an urban hub in which digital services are the main driving force for economic growth. This new hub, 35 km from Dakar and close to the new international airport (AIDB), aims to place the digital economy at the heart of the new administrative and business city of Diamniadio.
The total investment is 70 million euros, of which 61 million is financed by the African Development Bank and 9 million from the Government of Senegal. The objective is to create a digital platform in an area of 25 Ha in the Diamniadio economic zone, with ICT office spaces for the public and private sector, including international companies. The first phase includes the design and construction of 33,000 m2 of offices, incubators, teaching and research centres and a Tier III data centre integrated into the area.
IDOM has been contracted to develop the Master Plan of the digital park, the Basic and Detailed Architecture and Engineering, as well as provide technical assistance on site during the construction phase.
The project is currently under construction. This first phase is expected to finish in December 2022.

April 14, 2020: King Felipe and Queen Letizia held a videoconference with the heads of the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries to find out the situation of these companies, belonging to an industrial sector considered essential during the state of alarm caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have spoken with the president of the FIAB, Tomás Pascual Gómez-Cuétara, and with the general director of the federation, Mauricio García de Quevedo. The FIAB is made up of 45 sector associations. Represents food and beverage producers, representing 3% of national GDP and 16% of the whole of Spanish industry. It constitutes the first industrial sector in the country with almost half a million workers and more than 30,000 companies. It highlights that youth employment - from 16 to 35 years old - accounts for about a third of the total occupation of the sector, and that one in three employed in this industry is a woman, higher than the employment in the manufacturing industry as a whole, where is one in four. Furthermore, they highlight that Spanish products are "ambassadors" of the Spain Brand throughout the world and the food-gastronomy-tourism trinomial attracts millions of people to our country every year.
Following the protocols and sanitary recommendations established by the authorities, the food chain has worked from the outset in coordination to guarantee supplies. Since the current health alert was decreed, the sector, declared essential / strategic, has acted to respond to the demand for products, which at first was very high as a result of the insecurity and uncertainty that it generated in the population, that, in some cases, he made a disproportionate collection of supplies.
Despite the increase in demand in the early stages of the pandemic, the activity extends its activity beyond distribution. The losses caused by the closure of the HORECA channel (hospitality industry) also have serious consequences for the industry, since many of the companies dedicate all of their production to this channel and some sectors more than 80% of their turnover. Internal consumption cannot absorb all the activity linked to food that is generated outside the home. So many companies, dependent on the hospitality industry and export, are suffering losses.
As a strategic industry, worker safety and compliance with health protocols are essential. On the one hand, the lack of EPIS is being a problem and its provisioning is necessary. They have also requested, for the same reason, to prioritize the industry for the COVID-19 tests.
Regarding provisioning, the federation points out that a possible escalation of logistics costs is worrying as a result of the possible speculation that some operators could launch. Likewise, measures are required that, even if temporarily, contribute to increasing transport efficiency. Also, the FIAB observes with some concern the evolution of the raw material supply markets at global and national level and has proposed to strengthen vigilance over the evolution of these markets and to promote initiatives and incentives to promote work in the field.
The food and beverage industry has exercised a corporate commitment to the neediest consumers in this crisis. There is a wide list of companies that are making financial donations, of materials and products both in health centers and to disadvantaged families or who have contributed to the distribution of masks or the manufacture of disinfecting gel: Argal, Bimbo, Calidad Pascual, Calvo, Campofrío, Danone, Ebro Foods, El Pozo, Ferrero, Gallina Blanca, Grefusa, Heineken, Kellog, Nueva Pescanova, and many other companies are delivering hundreds of tons and liters of water, dairy products and infant food and other products to the Bank of Food, Red Cross, Caritas or the Emergency Centers of all Spain or the Hospital of the Community of Madrid in IFEMA.

LGBT+ in Portugal
LAWS
The LGBT+ rights in the Portuguese republic is considered one of the best in the world.
The acceptance in Portugal has it start in 1852, where, under the rule of Queen Mary II and King Ferdinand II, the same-sex activities were no longer a crime, later on made illegal again by the order of King Louis I in 1886, only to be made legal again in 1982 (8 years after the end of ‘Estado Novo’ (1941-1974)).
In the paintings, you can see King Ferdinand II(first photo (1)), Queen Mary II (second photo (2)) and King Louis I (last photo (3)).
The Portuguese people have one of the most advanced laws about Gender Identity in the world, which was approved in 1st of March of 2011. Portugal, who’s the country with the most ancient borders in the world, on the 5th day of June of 2010, became the 8th country in the world (6th in Europe) to allow same-sex marriage. Portugal is also one of the few countries to have anti-discrimination laws on sexual orientation (having gained its place on Article 13º of the Portuguese Constitution in 2004).
Some important dates to have in mind during all of this process are:
• 1852, when the fist same-sex activities were allowed;
• 1886, the year Louis I considered them illegal once again;
• 1982, same-sex activities were finally allowed.
• In 1995¸ the first public Pride day was celebrated in Climacz nightclub in Constantino Garden, Lisbon – as you can see in the public billboard (4).
• By 1999, the military starts accepting gay and bi members, and just 2 years after that, living with your same-sex partner started to be considered a non-material partnership through the eyes of the state.
• In 2003, the work laws change so workplaces would not be able to deny someone a job because of their sexuality and in 2004, the Constitution changes to include sexual orientation under the Article about equality.
• 2005 was the year that allowed LGBT+ people to give blood.
• 2007 penal code is changed.
• By 2009, sex education in school must star having LGBT+ in their speech. Sadly, this year also marks a step back: by order of Gabriel Olim, Gay and Bisexuals can no longer contribute for the blood bank.
• 2010 marks the year gay marriage is allowed and by 2015, gay couples are allowed to adopt and civil sponsorship a child.
• In 2016, lesbian couples started having support if they wanted to get pregnant.
PUBLIC OPINION
The public opinion is changing throughout the years, for example, in 2006 only 29% of the people living in Portugal believed in same-sex marriage and 19% of the people believed that they should be allowed to adopt, but it later changed, as we can see in a research made in 2015 that reveals 71% of the Portuguese people believed that Gay and Bisexual people should have the same the same rights as heterosexual people, that 59% of the population didn’t see anything wrong with same-sex relationships and that 61% of the people think that same-sex marriage should be allowed in all of Europe. It’s also estimated that more than 32% of the citizens changed ideas (for the better) since 2006.
CONDITIONS ON LIVING
While there’s a lot of cases about prejudice, the best places to live in the LGBT+ community in Portugal is in Lisbon, Porto and the tourist cities of Algarve (Lagos, Faro, etc.). This cities have a lot of LGBT+ nightclubs, bars, pubs and beaches, and in Lisbon and Porto there’s an annual Pride Parade. The city of Lisbon is the host of one Large LGBT+ film festival (“Queer Lisboa - The Lisbon Gay & Lebian Films”). Other smaller cities/region (like Leiria and Madeira) prefer to have a discreet LGBT+ community.
Some of the famous LGBT+ beaches in Portugal are 19 Beach near Costa da Caparica (south of Lisbon) and Cacela Velha (in Algarve).
LGBT+ PORTUGUESE PEOPLE IN HISTORY
Judith Teixeira (1880-1959) (5) - Published poems about love and eroticism between women. In 1923, the state destroyed a lot of her works because it was against the law at the time.
António Tomás Botto (6) lived between August’s 17th, 1897 and March 16th, 1959. He was a short story writer. Like the previous author, some of the works were destroyed in March 1923.
Raul Leal(7) was born in Setember 1st, 1886 and died by August 18th, 1964. He was also a writer. Like the previous author, some of the works were destroyed in March 1923.
Manuel Teixeira Gomes (May 27th, 1860 – October 18th, 1941) (8) was the 7th president of the Portuguese First Republic and ended up being dismissed because he wrote a book about the beauty of the male body.
LGBT+ ORGANIZATIONS
AMPLOS (9) - Association of Mothers and Fathers for the liberty of Sexual orientation and Gender Identity(English translation):
This organization was formed in 2009 by parents who want more freedom for their children regarding gender and sexual orientation. They try help the relationship between the parent(s)-child after the child has came out as part of the LGBT+. They make events that help People understand that there’s nothing wrong with their kids. HQ of operations: Lisbon, Porto and Funchal, but the ONG wants to open more headquarters in other cities.
ILGA (10) - Intervention Lesbian, Gay, bisexual, Trans and Intersexis:
This ONG is the first LGBT+ friendly organization in Portugal. Founded in 1995, its suppose is to fight against any discrimination to the LGBT+ people and for their rights. In 2017 ILGA Portugal changed their name from "Intervention Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender" to "Intervention Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex". It has its headquarters in Lisbon.

House De Mérida is a historic Badajoz family from Mérida, Spain that hails itself as one of the oldest cadet branches in living history. Its origins are disputed between Cato Octavius and Gaius Octavius, but historical evidence favours Cato Octavius of gens Octavia - making House De Mérida the only family in the world that can directly trace its ancestry to the family of a Roman Emperor. This is in large part due to the record-keeping capabilities of gens Expentania, which began in response to the Crisis of the Third Century. Gens Expentania's continuous archival work gave historians a first-hand account of the decline of the Western Roman Empire from before the decline itself, but was still not spared from it. What survived, however, was gens Expentania's traditions of raising at least one archivist in every generation, which broguht to the rise of one of Spain's first noble house: House Hierro. Buenaventura Hierro, who founded the house, worked as the adjutant and keeper of legacies for the Queen of León and was granted land and a noble title for this.
Hermenegildo Juan Pablo de Mérida, who acted as head archivist of House Hierro during the Third Crusade, was granted cadet rights and noble status for his work. He moved his family from León to Mérida to teach people how to read and write, and to write and sell books.
Hermenegildo, a chain of small medieval-themed bookstores in Madrid and Lisbon, are based wholesale on his long history of education and parchment-making. 1% of all proceeds go to the modern House De Mérida.
Since the death of Hermenegildo Juan Pablo de Mérida in 1220, there have been many historic figures who were part of the cadet branch, earning its nickname el pequeño pueblo con gigantes (the little town with giants) for the relatively very small number of living members compared to any other European noble house (11-1), and for how many of each of its members went on to perform some kind of feat of valour or somewise note of greatness.
The first most noteworthy figure to rise since the dynasty of Hermenegildo de Mérida was feline explorer-soldier Custodio de Mérida - a Renaissance-era freedom fighter who used his expertise to defeat, kill, and humiliate bandits and highwaymen along the trade routes between Southern France and Northern Italy.
The last since Custodio was the Spanish colonial affairs advisor Julio César y Santo Pedro de Mérida, whose only living heir was granted the right to form a new cadet branch, which he named in honour of his father (House de Mérida y César) after receiving the news of his deeds - despite the Spanish Empire's threat of sanctioning if he did. Julio César perished from a heart attack brought on by starvation while defending the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida, after stealing it from the Spanish during a local coup attempt that he helped plan and initiate.
The family home is located in the Toño Building on the west bank of the Guadiana River in Mérida, Spain. The original family house, from the Hermenegildo Dynasty, was located in Mérida's urban central but burned down during anti-fascist actions taken against Francoist Spain. The current head of House De Mérida is Tomás II de Mérida - a financial advisor and stud farmer. Tomás' great-grandaunt, Judit Teresa de Mérida y César, is the current head of its cadet branch.

Data management and visualization. Assignment #1.
Developing a research question and creating a personal codebook.
Choosing a data set
After looking through the codebook of GAPMINDER, I have decided that I am particularly interested in Gross Domestic Product per capita. I would like to review which variables are related to the growth of a country and its individuals.
Topic of interest
As human beings, I believe we always try to improve, evolve and get better. This also includes becoming more succesfull in many aspects of life, but for the moment and based on the data set that I have chosen I would like to focus on the factors that could determine a greater or lower GDP per capita on a country. At a first look at the data, I asked myself if the political side of a country determines its wealth. Nowadays most people believe in democracy and how it secures people freedom, but is democracy related to the wealth of a country?
Other topics
Adding to the previous topics, there was also another one related. I saw a variable that indicates the ratio of suicide per 100.000. I This leads to the question, is suicide related to the wealth of a country?
Codebook
On the GAPMINDER codebook we can see a row for each country and many variables. We will take each country as the unique identificator. With all that we mentioned before, our codebook would be like this:
Variable Name Description of Indicator Main Source Variable type incomeperperson 2010 Gross Domestic Product per capita in constant 2000 US$. The inflation but not the differences in the cost of living between countries has been taken into account World Bank Work Development Indicators Cuantitative polityscore 2009 Democracy score (Polity) Overall polity score from the Polity IV dataset, calculated by subtracting an autocracy score from a democracy score. The summary measure of a country's democratic and free nature. -10 is the lowest value, 10 the highest Polity IV Project Cuantitative suicideper100TH 2005 Suicide, age adjusted, per 100 000 Mortality due to self-inflicted injury, per 100 000 standard population, age adjusted Combination of time series from WHO Violence and Injury Prevention (VIP) and data from WHO Global Burden of Disease 2002 and 2004 Cuantitative
Literature
Having search a bit on https://scholar.google.com/, I found some other researches and studies based on the relationship between GDP and democracy as well as GDP and suicide. According to these studies, the countries that are still richest today, some of them are European countries, are also the countries in which the more the social state has developed [1]. Workers of foreign origin are among the most affected groups such as consequence of the collapse of the sectors productive; also the national youth, households with several unemployed adults, low-skilled workers or families formed by an unemployed woman or with precarious employment, and with dependent children, so as a conclusion they say that soceity must advocate for the welfare state in order to mantain the wellness and wealth of its habitants [2]. On the other hand, different studies suggest that unemployment is related to higher suicide rates. However, in other researches where the political and economic situation of certain countries is analyzed, it is not possible to establish this relationship in such a direct way, since there are other factors that can play an important role in the suicidal risk of the population [3]. Also a correlation analysis is made between the percentage variation of GDP per capita and the suicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants, which identifies a high negative correlation, and a high statistical significance is verified [4].
