Made a post about my 3 things I want to see with every Wonder Woman adaptation, despite needing to do some catching up myself. Related, do you have a link to a Wonder Woman reading list?
https://at.tumblr.com/paigeoforacle/1-keep-fights-to-a-minimum/k7nbubhe1qws
Nice list!
As for my Wonder Woman recs list....technically, yes. I made a Wonder Woman starter recs list way back in 2017 right after the movie came out. However, it's outdated, I've changed my opinion on some of the things I said there as I've read more Wonder Woman comics, and it also fails to include several good comics. So here's my current Wonder Woman recs list:
Starter comics: These are great comics to read if you're new to Wonder Woman comics or only have a passing familiarity with her:
Wonder Woman: Year One, by Greg Rucka
Wonder Woman (1987) #1-62, by George Perez
Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia, by Greg Rucka
JLA: League of One, by Christopher Moeller
The Legend of Wonder Woman, by Ray Dillion and Renee De Liz
Wonder Woman: Historia, by Kelly Sue DeConnick
Wonder Woman (1987) #170, by Phil Jimenez (the Diana-Lois 'Day in the Life' issue)
"Generations" from Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman, by Michael Jelenic (Issue #12 digitally, Issue #7 print)
Wonder Woman: Our Worlds At War, by Phil Jimenez (warning: this oneshot ties into the "Our Worlds at War" event, so the frame story will probably be confusing, but the majority of the story is a solid retelling of the collective Amazonian history up to that point)
Second-level comics: read these once you have a baseline familarity with Diana and her supporting cast:
Wonder Woman by Phil Jimenez, including Paradise Lost/Paradise Found (which I don't think are in the current Jimenez omnibus)
Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka (his first run on the title), with a particular call-out for the Medusa arc
Wonder Woman: The Circle and Ends of the Earth, by Gail Simone
Wonder Woman Rebirth (2016), by Greg Rucka (Rucka's second run; everything except Year One fits here)
Wonder Woman: The Twelve Labors (WW 1942 #212-222), by Len Wein and assorted other writers
Wonder Woman/Justice League Dark: The Witching Hour, by James Tynion IV
Wonder Woman: Lords and Liars by Mariko Tamaki
All of the comics on both lists are great; I have no hesitation recommending any of them. However, I will give a blanket warning for sexual assault in the Amazons' backstory, particularly during the seminal Perez run (which is very dated in how it handles the topic, unfortunately), and put a general note that while I can't think of anything outright offensive, various social issues are not always handled with grace (especially in the older runs).
Comics featuring the Wonderfam supporting cast:
Tales of the Titans (2023) #3, by Steve Orlando* (for Donna)
New Teen Titans: Who is Donna Troy?, by Marv Wolfman*
Titans (1999), by Devin Grayson (for Donna)*
The Return of Donna Troy, by Phil Jimenez (collected in The Death and Return of Donna Troy)*
Titans (2023), by Tom Taylor (for Donna)
Wonder Woman: Lifelines (WW 1987 #105-108) and WW #109-113, by John Byrne (Cassie Sandsmark's introduction)
Young Justice (1998), by Peter David (for Cassie)*
Nubia and the Amazons, by Stephanie Williams and Vita Ayala*
Nubia: Queen of the Amazons, by Stephanie Williams and Vita Ayala*
Wonder Woman: The Contest (WW 1987 #0 and #90-100), by William Messner-Loebs (for Artemis of Bana-Mighdall)
Artemis: Requiem, by William Messner-Loebs (Note: this is not actually recommended reading. It's utterly cursed and I wouldn't put it on here if it wasn't absolutely necessary to understand how Artemis isn't dead after "The Contest." Read everything else on this list before you read this mini)
Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham (WW 1987 #164-167), by Phil Jimenez*
Red Hood and the Outlaws Rebirth (2016) #1-24, by Scott Lobdell (for post-Flashpoint!Artemis, who's basically a different character)
Future State: Wonder Woman, by Joelle Jones (Yara Flor)
Wonder Girl (2021), by Joelle Jones (for Yara) (Note: this run is "just okay" and I'm reccing it with several reservations. However, it's also Yara's most prominent comic to date)
I've starred the ones on this list that I actually recommend as "good comics to read" and not just "decent starter comics for the character." Warning for depictions of sexual assault, bad art if you're looking at a pre-2000s comic, and being forced to engage with Scott Lobdell and William Messner-Loebs' writing.
I also recommend DC Bombshells by Marguerite Bennett; it's an Elseworlds comic set in WWII that co-stars Diana and it's delightful. There's certainly others that are decent, but I think this is a solid starter list if you want to understand Wonder Woman and how she should be written.

Noe Bodi Gameplay: Day 39
I needed a full 24 hours before i touched the cursed Noe Bodi save again, after it had FAILED me with the frozen save screen. When I returned, it was still New Year's Eve, so I made the choice to test the waters with another sim. So...
NEW NEIGHBOR MOVED INTO OASIS SPRINGS!
Rhett Moeller (@occultradio) is not your ordinary alien. He's moved here from Sixam (obviously) to enjoy the gradually growing community, but he's also here to see if the rumors he's heard are true...that a certain eyeless alien moved here too.
As with every sim so far, I let him make the first move in his house. He went straight to the bath to freshen up.
What a beautiful sim.
Then he went down to the basement to make a wish.
What for, I wonder?
Ah yes, to have the best New Year's eve he could hope for!
Off he went to Del Sol to celebrate with everyone else! And he got there right on time, the ball is about to drop!
At the same time, guess who also showed up to the NYE spot??
Adwoa(@saturngalore) and Detective Martin(@starjira)!
Now, because the game (at this point in time) was playing games with me, when I switched control to Adwoa JUST SO I COULD MAKE SURE I COULD SAVE THIS PROGRESS, Rhett and Pax (@theosconfessions) started WALKING. OUT. Just as these two were walking IN.
I mean, at least Adwoa and Pax got to meet each other.
So then I swtiched control BACK to Rhett to bring him BACK to the party, where Adwoa was nowhere to be found. :(
But there was no time to worry about that because the BALL WAS DROPPING BAYBEEE--
(disclaimer: I happened to find this option in the actions menu that I could not help but try for myself.)
The thing about Rhett is--he's a bit of a shit.
So just when the the ball was about to hit midnight...he fucking turned the TV off.
I think this photo below says it all. Poor Kyle.
It didn't last long, though, the man does have a conscience.
The evening ended with Kyle singing while Peeping Tom--I mean TOM PEEPING played backup guitar.
Rhett was leaving to go home, when he spotted her.
"...Noe!"
"...Rhett?"
Years have passed since he saw her last, but the butterflies that erupted back then returned in full force now.
Hell, after a few moments of awkwardness, they were catching up in sixami like no time had passed at all. Like they were running along the algae gardens, looking up at the planets in the sky, sneaking off to their favorite sixam cherry tree to--
Anyway.
"I'm in town, so...let's catch up soon?"
"Yeah...I'd like that."
And so it went. What started as a chaotic first day in the neighborhood ended with a tender-hearted reunion...with his first love.
Look at how he smiled as he walked away.
And that night, he dreamed of her. I know it.

Renascer, resignificar, ressurgir...
Ressignifique e intensifique a vida!

link: https://www.bz-berlin.de/unterhaltung/marvels-wastelanders-wlaschiha

Mugshot Monday - "Bamboo Glaze Yunomi" by Boulanger Pottery with 2019 Marques de Caceres Rioja Crianza
Iâm having a glass of wine tonight on my front porch in my new yunomi cup I bought this weekend at the Pots on the Bluff pottery sale in St. Paul.
I drove from Minneapolis over to Mounds Park on the eastern bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River and downtown St. Paul. The sale was hosted at a house just off the parkway in a delightful little neighborhood I'd never been to.
The driveway and backyard was packed full of pottery, with each table showcasing works from every artist. I love this style showcasing all the work from every artist together.
You never know when you're going to stumble upon the perfect piece. For me, I couldn't put this awesome little yunomi down.
I love the Bamboo glaze--it has a matte finish that reacted to the textures carved into the surface giving is a rough but cozy feel when I hold it.
I wanted to know who made it, so I went to the table with all 14 potter bios listed in hopes of identifying the maker.
A very helpful person told me the cup was made by Grant Boulanger and started telling me about the maker's pots. I eventually caught on that HE was Grant! đ
Grant told me he's a part-time professional potter in addition to his day-job as a heritage language specialist. He said he "helps teachers of less commonly taught languages navigate the pathway to licensure in MN." Very cool.
He makes all kinds of functional pottery including plates, bowls, coffee mugs, platters, and more. When I asked which piece for the sale was his favorite, he said he was really excited about how his tea pots turned out. He was was right--they're amazing.
I enjoyed getting to know Grant and I'm stoked to have one of his cups.
I hope they have the Pots on the Bluff sale again next year because I met some really great local potters and got to check out some amazing pottery. Such a good vibe.
Cheerâs, y'all! đ€©
(Thanks to Tom for recommending this Rioja! It's delicious.)
All Artists from the 2024 Pots on the Bluff event: Grant Boulanger, Angela Heida Hammer, Sarah Hjelmberg, Chad Jerzak, Anna King, Ivy Mattson, Adam Miller, Kent Miller, Paul Moeller, Heather Moreno, Marni Oberpriller, Marjorie Pitz, Tricia Schmidt, & Randy Schutt

Exotic animals kept in Madeira might soon require registration
Madeira City Council may decide April 11 whether to require residents to register dangerous wild animals with the police chief. But the city committee that drafted a proposed ordinance to do that stopped short of recommending a penalty for violations. City Manager Tom Moeller said in an email the committeeâs consensus was that because this was such a [âŠ]

Margaret Dumont (October 20, 1882 â March 6, 1965) was an American stage and film actress. She is best remembered as the comic foil to the Marx Brothers in seven of their films. Groucho Marx called her "practically the fifth Marx brother".
Dumont was born Daisy Juliette Baker in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William and Harriet Anna (née Harvey) Baker. She spent many years of her childhood being raised by her godfather, Joel Chandler Harris at his home, Wren's Nest in Atlanta before returning to New York as a teenager.
Dumont trained as an operatic singer and actress in her teens, and began performing on stage in the U.S. and in Europe, at first under the name Daisy Dumont and later as Margaret (or Marguerite) Dumont. Her theatrical debut was in Sleeping Beauty and the Beast at the Chestnut Theater in Philadelphia, and in August 1902, two months before her 20th birthday, she appeared as a singer/comedian in a vaudeville act in Atlantic City. The dark-haired soubrette, described by a theater reviewer as a "statuesque beauty", attracted notice later that decade for her vocal and comedic talents in The Girl Behind the Counter (1908), The Belle of Brittany (1909) and The Summer Widower (1910).
In 1910, she married millionaire sugar heir and industrialist John Moller Jr. and retired from stage work, although she had a small uncredited role as an aristocrat in a 1917 film adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities. The marriage was childless.
After her husband's sudden death during the 1918 influenza pandemic, Dumont reluctantly returned to the Broadway stage, and soon gained a strong reputation in musical comedies. She never remarried. Her Broadway career included roles in the musical comedies and plays The Fan (1921), Go Easy, Mabel (1922), The Rise of Rosie O'Reilly (1923/24) and The Fourflusher (1925), and she had an uncredited role in the 1923 film Enemies of Women.
In 1925, Dumont came to the attention of theatrical producer Sam H. Harris who recommended her to the Marx Brothers and writer George S. Kaufman for the role of the wealthy dowager Mrs. Potter alongside the Marxes in their Broadway production of The Cocoanuts. In the Marxes' next Broadway show Animal Crackers, which opened in October 1928, Dumont again was cast as foil and straight woman Mrs. Rittenhouse, another rich, society dowager. She appeared with the Marxes in the screen versions of both The Cocoanuts (1929) and Animal Crackers (1930).
With the Marx Brothers, Dumont played wealthy, high-society widows whom Groucho alternately insulted and romanced for their money:
The Cocoanuts (1929) as Mrs. Potter
Animal Crackers (1930) as Mrs. Rittenhouse
Duck Soup (1933) as Mrs. Gloria Teasdale
A Night at the Opera (1935) as Mrs. Claypool
A Day at the Races (1937) as Mrs. Emily Upjohn
At the Circus (1939) as Mrs. Susanna Dukesbury
The Big Store (1941) as Martha Phelps
Her role as the hypochondriacal Mrs. Upjohn in A Day at the Races brought her a Best Supporting Actress Award from the Screen Actors Guild, and film critic Cecilia Ager suggested that a monument be erected in honor of Dumont's courage and steadfastness in the face of the Marx Brothers' antics. Groucho once said that because of their frequent movie appearances, many people believed he and Dumont were married in real life.
An exchange from Duck Soup:
Groucho: I suppose you'll think me a sentimental old fluff, but would you mind giving me a lock of your hair?
Dumont: A lock of my hair? Why, I had no idea you ...
Groucho: I'm letting you off easy. I was gonna ask for the whole wig.
Dumont also endured dialogue about her characters' (and thus her own) stoutish build, as with these lines, also from Duck Soup:
Dumont: I've sponsored your appointment because I feel you are the most able statesman in all Freedonia.
Groucho: Well, that covers a lot of ground. Say, you cover a lot of ground yourself. You'd better beat it; I hear they're going to tear you down and put up an office building where you're standing.
and:
Groucho: Why don't you marry me?
Dumont: Why, marry you?
Groucho: You take me, and I'll take a vacation. I'll need a vacation if we're going to get married. Married! I can see you right now in the kitchen, bending over a hot stove. But I can't see the stove.
Or her age (in their last film pairing, The Big Store):
Dumont: You make me think of my youth.
Groucho: Really? He must be a big boy by now.
Dumont's character would often give a short, startled or confused reaction to these insults, but appeared to forget them quickly.
Decades later, in his one-man show at New York's Carnegie Hall, Groucho mentioned Dumont's name and got a burst of applause. He falsely informed the audience that she rarely understood the humor of their scenes and would ask him, "Why are they laughing, Julie?" ("Julie" being her nickname for Julius, Groucho's birth name). Dumont was so important to the success of the Marx Brothers films, she was one of the few people Groucho mentioned in his short acceptance speech for an honorary Oscar in 1974. (The others were Harpo and Chico, their mother Minnie, and Groucho's companion Erin Fleming. Zeppo and Gummo Marx, who were both alive at the time, were not mentioned, though Jack Lemmon, who introduced Groucho, mentioned all four brothers who appeared with Dumont on film.)
In most of her interviews and press profiles, Dumont preserved the myth of her on-screen character: the wealthy, regal woman who never quite understood the jokes. However, in a 1942 interview with the World Wide Features press syndicate, Dumont said, "Scriptwriters build up to a laugh, but they don't allow any pause for it. That's where I come in. I ad libâit doesn't matter what I sayâjust to kill a few seconds so you can enjoy the gag. I have to sense when the big laughs will come and fill in, or the audience will drown out the next gag with its own laughter... I'm not a stooge, I'm a straight lady. There's an art to playing straight. You must build up your man, but never top him, never steal the laughs from him."
For decades, film critics and historians have theorized that because Dumont never broke character or smiled at Groucho's jokes, she did not "get" the Marxes' humor. On the contrary, Dumont, a seasoned stage professional, maintained her "straight" appearance to enhance the Marxes' comedy. In 1965, shortly before Dumont's death, The Hollywood Palace featured a recreation of "Hooray for Captain Spaulding" (from the Marxes' 1930 film Animal Crackers) in which Dumont can be seen laughing at Groucho's ad-libs â proving that she got the jokes.
Writing about Dumont's importance as a comic foil in 1998, film critic Andrew Sarris wrote "Groucho's confrontations with Miss Dumont seem much more the heart of the Marxian matter today than the rather loose rapport among the three brothers themselves."
Dumont's acting style, especially in her early films, reflected the classic theatrical tradition of projecting to the back row (for example, trilling the "r" for emphasis). She had a classical operatic singing voice that screenwriters eagerly used to their advantage.
Dumont appeared in 57 films, including some minor silent work beginning with A Tale of Two Cities (1917). Her first feature was the Marx Brothers' The Cocoanuts (1929), in which she played Mrs. Potter, the role she played in the stage version from which the film was adapted. She also made some television appearances, including a guest-starring role with Estelle Winwood on The Donna Reed Show in the episode "Miss Lovelace Comes to Tea" (1959).
Dumont, usually playing her dignified dowager character, appeared with other film comedians and actors, including Wheeler and Woolsey and George "Spanky" McFarland (Kentucky Kernels, 1934); Joe Penner (Here, Prince 1932, and The Life of the Party 1937); Lupe VĂ©lez (High Flyers, 1937); W.C. Fields (Never Give a Sucker an Even Break, 1941, and Tales of Manhattan 1942); Laurel and Hardy (The Dancing Masters, 1943); Red Skelton (Bathing Beauty, 1944); Danny Kaye (Up in Arms, 1944); Jack Benny (The Horn Blows at Midnight, 1945); George "Gabby" Hayes (Sunset in El Dorado, 1945); Abbott and Costello (Little Giant, 1946); and Tom Poston (Zotz!, 1962).
Turner Classic Moviesâ website says of High Flyers: "The surprise... is seeing [Dumont] play a somewhat daffy matron, more Billie Burke than typical Margaret Dumont. As the lady who's into crystal gazing and dotes on her kleptomaniac bull terrier, she brings a discreetly screwball touch to the proceedings."
She also appeared on television with Martin and Lewis in The Colgate Comedy Hour (December 1951).
Dumont played dramatic parts in films including Youth on Parole (1937); Dramatic School (1938); Stop, You're Killing Me (1952); Three for Bedroom C (1952); and Shake, Rattle & Rock! (1956)
Her last film role was that of Shirley MacLaine's mother, Mrs. Foster, in What a Way to Go! (1964).
On February 26, 1965, eight days before her death, Dumont made her final acting appearance on the television program The Hollywood Palace, where she was reunited with Groucho, the week's guest host. They performed material from Captain Spaulding's introductory scene in Animal Crackers, including the song "Hooray for Captain Spaulding". The taped show was broadcast on April 17, 1965.
Dumont married millionaire American Sugar Refining Company heir and industrialist John Moller Jr. in 1910 and retired from stage work. The marriage was childless.
Moeller died during the 1918 influenza pandemic, after which Dumont reluctantly returned to the Broadway stage. She never remarried, and died from a heart attack on March 6, 1965. She was cremated and her ashes were interred in the vault at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory in Los Angeles. She was 82, although many obituaries erroneously gave her age as 75.

Fotos: Paula Winkler    Text: Moritz Ostertag
Thank you Nelya for the collage. đč
Geboren: 20.
