One Shot Sunday #1

You sigh contently as Tom runs his hand through your hair. ‘’Are you okay,’’ he asks sweetly as you had been quiet for a little while now. ‘’Yes, perfectly fine.’’ You and Tom had been a couple for about two months now. You met at the club, not in the best circumstances.

You had been sobbing in the corner of a club after some guy had fingered you there against you will. Tom was the only person to notice the state you were in. He had helped you up and took you out of the club. There he had dragged you to this little fish shop and bought you fish and chips.

He comforted you and listened to what happened. He had gives you his number to let him know how you felt the next day. You had been charmed with how caring he was and that he didn’t judge you. So you did end up texting him the next day in the afternoon, he texted you that evening and you kept texting until you planned another meetup, and another a few days later and then another.

He then- finally- asked you on a date and then another again. You were head over heels already and so when he asked her to be his girlfriend she was quick to say yes! From that moment on they were near inseparable. Tom still checks on her whenever they are intimate if she’s okay since she can panic about it from time to time.

Suddenly the doorbell rings which has you sighing deeply. You don’t want to get out of his embrace. ‘’I have to get up dear,’’ he speaks and kisses your temple. He sits up and struggles away from you to get the door.

‘’James,’’ you hear him call out happily. ‘’Tom, mate, how are you! I haven’t seen you in a while so I thought I come round!’’ You recognise that voice from something but you can’t narrow it down. It just gives you this strange feeling. A bad feeling.

‘’I’m good. Sorry I haven’t seen you in so long. My girl is here as well.’’ Tom takes James to the living room and then it all falls into place. That’s why that voice was familiar to you. It was him… He touched you in that club!

Your face pulls white while your eyes widen when he walks in. You feel your breath quicken as he enters Tom’s living room. You can’t believe that this is happening. Tom sits down in front of you and takes your hand noticing the obvious change in demeanour.

‘’Are you alright love,’’ he asks you worriedly. Before you can even think you nod. You can’t tell him the truth, he’ll get rid of you. Of course, he will, he would never choose you over his best mate. The one person he is closer to is Benedict Cumberbatch.

He talks about James the whole time. They are friends since they were little. You have to admit, James looks nice. That had been one of the reasons you were okay with dancing with him. He has a brilliant smile and a deep husky voice.

‘’I’m James,’’ he smiles holding out his hand. He doesn’t even remember you. Was he just too drunk to remember or were you just the so maniest girl and is that the reason he doesn’t recognise you?

‘’Y/N,’’ you whisper grabbing his hand lightly and then quickly pull away again. ‘’She’s a bit nervous around new people,’’ Tom sighs but smiles to soften it. ‘’He’s okay, dear, I’ve known him for years.’’

You swallow thickly. Your heart hurts for him. He has full trust in James and doesn’t even think it a possibility that James would hurt someone in that way. ‘’Yeah… Just hungry,’’ you lie and get up just saying you’re starting making dinner. Tom smiles at you and wants to follow you.

‘’Need help,’’ he asks as you walk into the kitchen. ‘’No, you go have a good time,’’ you speak as you force a smile. ‘’Okay, just let me grab a beer and I’ll be out of your hair.’’ Your eyes go wide again as he reaches for the fridge. Quickly you take his arm to stop.

‘’Please, no alcohol tonight. It just… makes me nervous.’’ Tom gives you a forgiving smile. ‘’I’ll grab some coke then.’’ You smile back at him. ‘’Thank you… For understanding.’’ He kisses your forehead grabs the drinks and leaves again.

You then make your way to the stove and try to start making dinner but only now you notice that your hands are shaking madly! You still continue until you try to put a large pot filled with water on the stove but you shake so badly that you accidentally drop it. You scream as it drops to the floor and you quickly grab a cloth to dry it.

Tom comes rushing in when he finds you on the floor. Tears have gathered in your eyes because of the tension and scare of the pot. ‘’What happened.’’ ‘’I’m… I’m sorry I dropped it and-’’ You can’t talk anymore because you start to cry so badly.

Tom grabs your arms and pulls you up to your feet and takes you out of the kitchen to the dining hall. He quickly pulls you into a hug and let’s you cry for a while. He coos kind words in your ear until you’ve stopped crying and able to talk.

He then sits you down on a chair and he pulls one out opposite of you. ‘’What’s going on love,’’ he asks you worriedly. ‘’Since James is here you’ve been acting odd.’’ You sniffle and try to avoid his worried gaze.

‘’It was him,’’ you then choke out with a strained voice. ‘’What do you mean,’’ Tom asks while laying his hand on your knee. ‘’James… In the club. He is the one that… He touched me.’’ Something shifts behind Tom’s eyes… anger.

He’s going to yell at you, you’re out on your ass. You just know it! ‘’Are you sure,’’ he asks with his voice still calm. ‘’Yes. I’m sorry I-’’ ‘’You’re not the one to apologise, love, he is.’’ Suddenly he stands up and rushes out of the room. You feel like your frozen unable to move.

He isn’t angry with you but with James. On the one side your happy but on the other side, you’re breaking a friendship of a lifetime. When you suddenly hear a scream your body can suddenly move again and so you jump to your feet and run to the living room.

There you see Tom towering over James that is pressed against the wall. ‘’Asshole,’’ Tom shouts while pulling from the wall and then throwing him back against it. ‘’I never want to see you again!’’ He throws James away from him that barely manages to stay on his feet. He huffs and walks away. ‘’Fine, choose that bitch over me,’’ he calls and then walks out slamming the door.

Tom walks back to you and holds you in his arms again. ‘’He’s gone dear, he won’t hurt you anymore.’’ You can’t help it but start to cry again, from pure relieve. ‘’Thank you for choosing me,’’ you choke out. ‘’It’s always you… I love you.’’
