Me, with a stack of [pre-ordered and library] books to read, multiple television shows I'm in the middle of, favorite fic authors I've somewhat abandoned and want to return to, and many podcasts I'm behind on and many more I have yet to start, completely sick and tired of audio input: Well, I guess I can listen to each segment one by one, episode by episode, of the 50-odd Zombies, Run! episodes I've played so far. That way when I finish the couch to 5k program in three weeks I will remember what's happening.
#To explain the fanfic bit: on my favorite fics I like to leave a comment each chapter. On my favorite fic authors I do this too.#But then their fanfic becomes something Good and worth giving my Full Attention To. Which then psychs me out of reading it.#Specifically I'm thinking of two authors who update weekly and I love their work so much but you know how surprise can often overcome#executive dysfunction? Like if you plan on doing something it doesn't happen but if you turn around and the thing to do is right there than#*then it does?#Yeah.#personal#liveblogging stories#learning to function

Hi Keisha! Please uh.... please just ignore how long it's been since you asked me this lol. I'm so sorry.
And of course! you can always ask as many emojis as you want :p
A playlist that i love? right now I've been listening to Lucky's Leo playlist :3.
a five, but that's because i hate editing my own work but I love editing for other people lol
💜🐢🎧😱🥺
i've got an amazing group of friends! I'm starting to not hate exercise again! and my garden is chugging along nicely!
weirdest topic is probably how different type of wounds actually affect the human body and how adrenaline actually works and it's limits :3
personal wisdom.... hm.... if you're stuck on a project step away from it a bit and try something else! Come back with fresh eyes.
dream theme for a plot or fanfic would would probably include pining and hopeless fools in love :3. as to would write it best, i really can't pick, because i like to see how different artists approach a story.
my favorite type of comment to receive on a fic is any comment! keyboard smashes, "h", or long thought processes, any type of comment is a good comment
I really want to just remind everyone that fandom is exactly what you make of it. Your writing is YOUR writing, your art is YOUR art. Don't worry so much about what other people Want to see you do, do something that makes YOU happy. Write the self indulgent story, whether it be more comfort or more hurt. Draw the self insert art. Dabble with Y/N, reader, or create your own OCs. Don't let someone else set boundaries for how You enjoy creating for a fandom. Someone is always going to have an "opinion" on it, but at the end of the day it's not Their decision. and you know. the block button is right there lol. Just have fun, please remember fandom is suppose to be Fun.
The baby fine hairs at the base of her neck lifted when she stalled at a red light crossing, and without thinking Winnie rubbed the thin skin, frowning and regretting once more her decision to forgo the jacket. The light changed to the little green walking man, and she stepped - :3
@hitwiththetmnt drew a comic for one of my fics a little while ago, and I love it SO much. I go back and reread it probably more than I do Cistern lol. Link to the comic here.
hm honestly not much? there are a few stereotypes that i don't really like but usually i tough it out because everyone has a different view of the world..... oh. I can mention a pet peeve though. If you have something that's a pretty common trigger in a story, and you purposefully leave it out, I don't like that. I've seen it discussed a few times and I just don't think the people understand that they're likely to drive people away from their stories if they keep doing this as a "shock value".

Fics recs: 1-THE ROMANOFF CHRONICLES, an astounching groundbreaking, never seen before (literally) masterpiece, 100/10. It's mainly set in those 5years post snap, it explains the development that each character presented in endgame in a way the Russos wish they did, it represents the friendship between the avengers in a way marvel never allowed them be, it respects Natasha ( skill set, humanity, personality, affiliations,..) it's nat centric, it's only flaw: it's not complete but don't worry it has 60 medium to long chaps.
2-ON THE COVER - RED WHITE AND BLACK | New York Magazine | Dec. 30th, 2024, this is the most beautifully written farewell, tribute to Natasha Romanoff I have ever seen, it's written in a format that I think has never been used in fanfics, it's a soul touching poetic masterpiece
3- Ohio years, an exquisite bittersweet mini series of 1 shots that's written in a captivating style that keeps your attention, it showcases how the Russian murder family but mainly nat & Melina come to love & connect to each other.
4-FIREFLIES, it's written in such a bittersweet melancholic reminiscing way, it's just so beautiful. It's an 18 1 shots about nat encountering fireflies & being reminded of Ohio years &then others being reminded of nat by seeing them.
5- DISTURBING THE PEACE, an excellent 100/10 tear-jerker masterpiece, it's a very long 1 shot about what if post apocalyptic lonely nat , it also showcases her friendship with og avengers & nick.
6- I USED TO HAVE NOTHING, - WIDOW SISTERS AND MANY MARVELOUS MARVEL WOMEN - WE ARE MEANT FOR MORE THAN THIS, it's cute well written comfort, fluff, a bit angsty 3 different series of mainly 1 shots by 3 different authors about yelena and Natasha. They're my all time favorite comfort read.
7- I LOVE YOU, GOODBYE, it's a very very long 1 shot of AU of endgame in which Wanda survives & wandanat happens that hit me so hard I needed hours to process it & get out of it, my only quell with it is that it reset nat & Wanda's relationship with each other at postAOU where they would definitely be distant to each other.
8- IT'S FUN TO LOSE AND TO PRETEND, an absolute tear-jerker, a masterpiece, a beauty, a greatness, it's a 5 parts multichaps which takes place just after Westview, before Hawkeye where nat is given another chance ending up at Wanda's door, Wanda is given the healing marvel denied her with nat, Sam &bucky not being limited by the shackles of the screen & actually interacting with the events of their universe,Clint and yel meeting with their beloved. The ending was a bit unsatisfying to me but nonetheless as martin says this is CINEMA.
9- HOW NATASHA ROMANOFF MARRIED WANDA MAXIMOFF, it's a medium paced 38 chaps retelling of "how Nancy Jackson married Kate Wilson" but with wandanat with huge changes. It's sweet & adorable, the beginning was a bit rocky to me, there parts I would wince where I didn't like it but otherwise an absolute entertainment, I wanna kiss the head of it's author irl for giving me this absolute comfort for FREE. God or whatever higher power bless this person.
10-OUR LITTLE GROUP HAS ALWAYS BEEN (AND ALWAYS WILL UNTIL THE END), it's 9 part series of mini chaps, it's very creative concept,a wild imagination, it's the biggest au to ever au as its author puts it. To me it's the truest form of fanfic, the author took majority of the plot of MCU & toyed with it &come up with their world which has everything cute adorable wandanat, yelenat, the maximoffs, yel and Pietro, loving Russian spy parents, coulson's Lola, overall it's cuteness overload. God bless this author too.
If you ever decide to read them pls leave them a comment & let me know how you feel about them, also do you have more nat centric fanfics or just good fanfics about nat and anybody else.
oh my FUCKING GODDD THANK U ANON!!!
im def gonna read all ur recs! So far i had this one fanfic i rlly like but i forgot the title. I’ll let u know when i rememberr

no pressure at all if you don't want to do them all, but for the fanfic truth or dare!! 📚 🏜️ 🧩 <3
no worries!!! i love ask games, no pressure involved <333 you’re so sweet <33
📚: last thing you wrote in your notes app?
I have a notes page where i keep all the bits of poetry and song lyrics i come up with - the last thing i wrote was “I don’t want to name things I know will leave me / that’s why my dog is still named ‘dog’”. kind of depressing but !! not bad
🏜️: favorite type of comment to receive on a work?
I love to receive ANY comments tbh, they make me so happy no matter what, i love to know that people like my work. i love the questions that point out bits that people liked, and i always love it when i can explain my thinking and thought process. I just love to talk my fics in general. it’s always a delight to receive long comments in my inbox, but i love short comments and keysmashes too!!
🧩: what makes you click out of a fanfiction immediately?
I’m not a huge fan of reader inserts or oc fics. i used to write them but they weren’t good. No shade at all to people who write them, I’m sure they’re fantastic! just not my taste. additionally, if the grammar is bad or if it’s all written in one huge clump. makes it hard to read. even if the plot is good, i cant focus if the grammar is wack.

So this might seem like a controversial opinion, and please keep in mind that this only applies to me personally, but I don’t mind at all when someone Likes a bunch of my fanfics without reblogging them.
Let me be clear, of course I prefer reblogs or comments. Of freaking course. But if you just click Like on my post? That’s great! I’m flattered and I’m happy you enjoyed my writing enough to click that little heart. I honestly can’t imagine not being happy with a large number of Likes.
So I’ll explain why I feel this way, and bear with me because I have to delve into a bit of my history as a writer.
I started writing fanfiction in my early teen years. When the internet was still young. When fan-run forums were a great place to post them. When we all had “shrines” to our favorite characters hosted on Geocities, joined thirty web rings, nervously posted our first lemons, and fought off flamers.
I wrote fanfiction for many years, for lots of different fandoms. And I loved doing it. I loved the feeling of being part of a community of fans. I loved being creative with the stories I enjoyed. But most of all I loved the feedback, the engagement. Regardless of the quality of my work (and let’s be real, those early fics were super cringe), I got reviews, comments, people telling me to continue. And the feedback came almost immediately. Within hours of posting something, there would be at least a few comments or reviews. These pushed me to keep writing, because I wanted more. More reviews. More encouragement. More reactions. Feedback and engagement are the most addictive drugs to a writer. Knowing someone read your words, and even better, knowing they enjoyed them? Instant high.
However, my true passion has always been original fiction. I’ve been making stories since I was a small child. I’ve had “novels” in progress since I was ten years old. And at some point, after basking in the feedback of fanfiction, I decided to focus more on my original work. My dream was always to be a published novelist, after all. So after many many years as a fanfiction author, I left fanfiction behind. I returned to it very briefly a few years later, wrote exactly two fics, then left it again.
I worked on my original fiction. I wrote and actually finished multiple novels. I edited, rewrote, etc. Then I excitedly began querying literary agents. And the result? Form rejection after form rejection. Not a single request for the full manuscript or even a partial manuscript. Not a single word of feedback. And this repeated with each novel I wrote.
Desperate for feedback, I started posting my stories on various places online. Wattpad. Here on tumblr. Various forums and other websites for posting original work. I even joined Facebook groups specifically for sharing your unpublished novels to get feedback. The result was still a resounding “nothing”. No comments. No likes or votes or reviews or reblogs. A small handful of views on Wattpad was all I got. And I’m talking small. Like less than 20 per chapter. On some stories, less than 5. It was like my work was invisible. No one would give it a second glance.
After all of this I started to question myself. Was I actually any good at writing to begin with? Had I just deluded myself into thinking I had any talent whatsoever? Getting zero feedback or engagement on all of it was crushing. I would much rather get negative feedback than none at all. It was like screaming into the void, to keep posting work that would be totally ignored.
At some point I remembered how wonderful it felt to get feedback on my fanfiction. And I craved that again. I’d been following a few blogs on here that took requests (blogs like this one I’m currently running). I actually sent a few anon requests into them. And at the same time I was thinking of how much I missed writing fanfics, I got a few ideas for fics that just would not leave my brain. So I wrote my first BNHA fanfic, and my first fanfic in general in many years. That was Break Time, a Shigaraki x Reader fic. It was my first x Reader fic as well, and it took me a bit of effort to get used to the format. But I did it. I wrote it. And then, I nervously posted it to this blog, and waited to see if anyone would spare it a glance.
When those Likes started coming in, I literally teared up. It was like, “Oh so I can still entertain people with my writing. People still like my work.” Coming from the barren wasteland of zero feedback, those dozens of Likes early on were like an oasis. Each one meant more to me than you can ever imagine.
So for me, it absolutely boggles my mind that anyone could actively hate getting Likes. I get it, reblogs and comments are so much better. But are Likes that terrible?
To me, it’s like this: Likes are like small pieces of candy. Reblogs and comments are like big strawberry parfaits. Do I prefer a big strawberry parfait to a piece of candy? Of course I do. But if someone walks up to me and gives me a piece of candy, I’m not gonna be mad at that person. I still like candy, even if I get way more excited about the parfait. And when you spend several years getting no candy whatsoever, you definitely appreciate it when people start giving you some.
And yeah, it’s definitely frustrating to see other people getting strawberry parfaits and all you ever get is candy, but does that make it alright to be a total jerk to the next person who gives you candy? To angrily scream that you’re not accepting candy because people aren’t giving you enough parfaits? Honestly, it just makes you seem petty to me.
(And to clarify, saying you’re frustrated about not getting parfaits is not what I’m talking about, yelling at the people giving you candy and being super rude about it is what I’m talking about.)
If you’re someone who is getting genuinely angry at people for Liking your stuff, I invite you to try a little experiment. Write an original piece of fiction. Just a short story, but put a lot of effort into it. Then post it. Literally anywhere. I can guarantee you that the next time you get a bunch of Likes on your fanfics, you’ll appreciate them.
All this to say, feel free to Like my stuff! Spam Like my stuff! I’m cool with it. Will I get all squishy and blushy if you reblog or comment? Yes. I most definitely will. But if for some reason you only feel comfortable Liking it, it still makes me smile.
Also, end note here, but I don’t reblog fanfic. I reblog art, gif sets, etc. but not fanfic. That’s because this is my fanfic writing blog and I have this fear that people will confuse the reblogged fanfic for being my work, and I hate the idea of getting credit for someone else’s work. I know this might be an irrational fear. I am planning to make a secondary blog just for reblogging fics I enjoy. I’ll link it when I do in case anyone wants to follow it for a curated list of really great fics!

Hi! How about any/all of 4, 14, 20, 36, 37, 42 and 43 for the yr fic asks 💜
Wish you a delightful day!
Thanks for the ask!! Hope you have a lovely day too 💜
4. the fanfic you would recommend for somebody not in the fandom
Besides Play my Song probably other classics like Call me Up Late by @royalwilmon , I ask nothing of you by @prince-simon and Teach me how to love by starrystoryteller.
14. your choice of fanfic for each season
I have no idea lmao. Not if it's you by @prince-simon got that Christmas feeling, and most of the Young Royals fics give me autumn vibes for some reason.
20. your « not Wilmon » favorite ship / couple
In Young Royals probably Felice and Sara! They're a side pairing in my The Longing Needs The Leaving and multiple of my WIP's. Just feel like they make sense.
Outside of Young Royals probably Henry and Alex from Red, White, and Royal Blue and Matteo and David from Druck.
37. the trope you didn't expect to like
Probably enemies to lovers, since I really dislike the idea of it in real life. But I can't get enough of enemies to lovers fics. My WIP even dabbles into it a little bit and I never expected to write something like that.
42. do you like to comment on the fic you read
Yes! I never really know how to explain why I love a fic and tend to comment generic things like 'love this' or 'cute' which I do feel bad about but I always try to comment. And I do my best to mention something specific, since I always love it when people do that but so many times it's just the whole vibe I love, you know?
43. does reading fanfic made you want to write
Yes, absolutely!! Writing is a big part of my life and that all started with fanfiction years and years ago. It's so inspiring what kind of things people write while having whole life's beside it and I really love the whole equality feeling of fanfic culture. It makes me feel like I belong and my writing could be just as cool as my own favorite fics. Which, it isn't, I have a long way to go. But it's all about the idea!!

Got tagged by @measlyfurball13 so time to talk about my relationship to Fandom
Tagging… hell I don’t know. Look if you see this just count that as a tag.
Your Name: NotOkapi or Okapi usually, theoretically you could also use Pidgeon (spelled normally or Like That) but I don’t think anyone’s ever acknowledged that’s the title at the top of my page.
Your Current Fandom(s): As you can see I am currently in Spider-Man hell. I’m supposed to be able to leave Spider-Man hell at the end of the month but in all likelihood Spider-man posting will continue into the foreseeable future.
How did you first get into fandom?: 7th grade I met a kid at fencing camp who was also into Wings of Fire and mentioned that he was active on the Fandom site for Wings of Fire fan content. Fun fact, totally-not-an-awkward-okapi is just the latest variation of my personal naming scheme. It was Not A Robot when I made a disqus account to comment on my favorite webcomics, not realizing that the locks my school placed on internet usage made it unusable. When I joined Fandom my name was Definitely Not Darkstalker since he was the main villain of the series at the time and therefore about as villainous as online bots.
How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces?: 7th grade, unless you count the few times my disqus comments slipped through school security. Or actually I made two question submissions to @tape-hiss as I first read White Noise anonymously. Have fun guessing!
How often do you read fanfics?: Really depends on my fixation! Sometime I go a couple months without reading any, sometimes I read every fic in a characters tag (that isn’t smut, I’m so ace that it just doesn’t appeal to me) in a day. It’s all variable.
Top three characters from your current fandom: I mean, other than Spidey character supreme Will o’ the Wisp? Both Butcherbird and Sandman continue to live in my head rent free. Pretty consistently when my brain is too excited about the next days design to sleep I start putting one of those three in Scenarios (TM).
Have you ever written fic for a fandom?: Sometimes! Occasionally I can’t tell something through art and need to write it out instead. Most of my fics sit for personal reading only in my docs, but I do have a AO3 account for when it needs to be unleashed upon the world. Basically all of my ongoing fics are “I’m going to come back to them someday but right now my brain will not function” though, except for Beneath the Quaking Tree who I’m not finishing out of spite because my Metal Gear Solid emulator broke so there will be no process until I fix or replace it.
Have you ever drawn fanart for a fandom? Sure have! Most of the #my art tag on this blog is fanart.
Share a personal headcanon you feel very strongly about: All my Spidey posting for the month has been AU work, so it’s all kinda headcannon in that way? I guess the ones I feel strongest about are how Butcherbird and Sandman’s brains work. Butcherbird is essentially an unfinished recreation of the Winter Soldier’s programming, which causes odd stops and stutters when he thinks. A little bit of a WIP from my files to try and explain:
They wake up cold. They always seem to wake up cold. Frankly, they don’t remember not waking up cold (they try not to puzzle at that last one). Cold possibly isn’t the right word. Cold implies “chilly” not “I’m pretty sure some of my internal fluids are still frozen.”
The Vulture pushes to the surface, and they let it pass. The Vulture eliminates pain. Good. There is a short burst of acute pain as the body starts shifting, before the body finally gives up on sending pain signals.
Then the Vulture freezes too. Holding pattern. Awaiting orders.
No one is there. Someone should be there. They’ve never woken up alone. Waking up usually means training. Programming. Pain. There’s no one there.
It should be a relief. It is worse. The Vulture paces. It was not meant to go long without orders.
They have contingencies. There’s still space for many more, but digging around it finds an applicable scenario.
They can be taken out of cryo manually, either through the attached control panel or remotely. If certain emergency protocols are activated, it can also be put on a timed release. The latter two are the most likely.
There is a contingency for remote and time release. It has not been uploaded.
Sandman on the other hand is interesting because there’s both “How their brain has always worked” (she has dissociative identity disorder) and “How her consciousness transferring from electric signals in the brain to about one body’s worth of electromagnetic bonds effects their ability to think” (poorly)
And finally, what does fandom mean to you? Getting to hang out with people who’s brains are as messed up as mine is who don’t mind me ranting about consciousness or medieval fashion, and then getting them to ramble about their own ideas and just. Talking about something we both love! Sorry, Measley explained this so much better than I can.

Someone once left me a comment on a fic I was writing during a period of severe anxiety and depression for me that was a very long and detailed description of why my “mystery” was bad and they hated how I had revealed it and had the characters react after it was revealed. This was not supposed to be a mystery, first of all. I felt I was being very clear from the beginning who the “bad guy” was, it was just a matter of when the main character of the story found out it was them, since the characters affected didn’t know the villain’s name. But I felt I was being very clear that you were supposed to know who it was. Everyone in the comments was basically waiting for the moment the main character figured it out, because who else could it be, right? I’m leaving these big, glowing red arrows all over the place and pointing them directly at the villain! But when’s it gonna be revealed to the main character? When are they gonna put the puzzle pieces together??
This fic had maybe one or two chapters left, with a planned sequel, but because of how I wanted to do the final part of the story I was taking a longer time to finish it than usual. I was even planning on commissioning something special for the ending of the fic to really emphasize what I thought would be a cool way to end the story. (This was literally taking months with my planned commission bit since I needed to decide how far the commission would go and how to properly explain what I wanted, since I was also going to have to write something special to go along with it, but hey, I figured the final product would be worth it.)
But that one comment completely killed any desire I had to finish the story for all the other people who enjoyed it. Sometimes I go back to the site it’s posted on and wonder why I never finished it, I see the document for the next chapter and wonder why I gave up on a story I was having fun with, and then I remember that comment. It was rude, it was them basically talking down to me and tearing up my plotline they clearly hadn’t gotten the point of after tacking on a placating “the actual writing was okay, I guess, better than most in this fandom” line, with a “take this into account if you ever come back to this” and that was it. I not only abandoned that fic, I abandoned the whole site. That one comment completely killed that story.
They left me a nice, big, “constructive criticism” review with a nice big complete rewrite of a plot summary showing me what I actually should have done to make my fic actually good, as well as taking issue with some of the characters using they/them pronouns like myself. And that was it, I decided I was done with that fic and done with that site.
I have left that review in my messages and in my email, I left it on the fic itself. They left me with “anyway good story your probably not gunna update it but heres some feedback” and that was it.
People still favorite or follow that story to this day. I literally got an email about someone doing so this morning. I got a review from someone who liked the story at the beginning of the year. But nothing has made me want to go back to it. Nothing’s given me back the spark that wanted to commission something special and see how people liked the plan I had for the sequel. It just took one person who left their unasked for criticism to completely make me lose interest in it. I haven’t deleted it, mostly for the people who did and still do like it, but that fire for it? The love of the story and the desire to see where I can take it? It’s gone. It’s been gone for almost five years. I doubt it’s gonna come back. If it does? I don’t know if I’ll bother to finish it on that site.
I don’t write or create fanfic because it’s my job, but if people act like the free content I gave them wasn’t good enough? Okay, fine- I won’t make you anymore content. Problem solved.
AO3 Etiquette
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished - you kudos.
If you liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity. Don't ruin that for them.
Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLANTONIC, like friendship or family.
Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
Avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to you anymore.
This is a creative fanfiction archive. No essays on your insights or theories please. There are other places for that.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.
#I literally haven’t even written for that fandom since lol#I had some other ideas for it but… no more interest#like if you wanna kill the desire of creators to actually create stuff go off I guess but I’d rather build people up than tear them down#I hope your unasked for criticism of the story was worth it notamindlessfan#and I’m sorry to everyone who does still like that story. I do wish I could finish it for you#but I just have no desire to anymore#sometimes I reread the chapters and get excited about it again but when I inevitably remember that comment I delete anything I’ve written#I just lose all desire again#I love that fic but even considering giving that person more of it makes me furious#so#no more fic#sorry

✨ Meme for Fic Writers: 4, 7, 15, 29, 38
Alkjsadkjs if Hershey's gonna do anything, it's make me think about my writing. I'm gonna put this under a read more and also color the questions so it's not just a huge wall of text (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Ohhh, there are so many that I don't even really have a solid number for them?? Like I have stuff I already talked about, like GG and O Sol, and then there are things I've only talked about in passing with friends that don't have a storyline or an actual idea name. I think the one that I wanna work on most that I haven't talked about before is another O Sol installment that kinda gives insight to apritello's relationship through the other characters POV? I'm having a lot of fun working backwards in terms of how the plot line goes before moving it forwards past,,, that lol
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
The softness that Donatello invoked from her, the way she wanted to stay by his side and wanted him to stay by hers. The need to protect him, to keep him safe and happy, and being able to cause that happiness. She felt so seen yet felt the need to hide when his eyes found hers, desired to be wanted by him and for his eyes to seek her out.
She found her place with him, craving out a piece of herself so he fit perfectly in her. And she hoped that he did the same for her.
-I Put a Spell on You (Accidentally But If Anyone Asks it Was On Purpose)
I'm just, it's hard to talk about why I'm so proud of this one cause I feel like the reason is kinda unnecessarily sappy ajshjf. But the way that I think about love really drives how I write about characters falling in love or experiencing that love. For me, love (whether platonic or romantic) is about creating a safe place for someone, not only about wanting to be with them, but also in the sense that when you think about somewhere you belong, the other person is not too far from the thought, you know? So, by being able to write about a character experiencing the "mainstream" romantic expressions of love (ie. feeling shy around them, wanting to be near them, feeling protective of them, etc.), I was also able to add that little bit of characters creating places for each other. In that last line, I essentially wrote April not only admitting that she loves Donnie, but also hoping that Donnie loves her back without having to say that.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
Ohhh, if I could guarantee that the CGI was clean and the studio makes the color scheme pop like I'd want it, it'd be I Put a Spell on You (Accidentally But If Anyone Asks it Was On Purpose). There's a couple of scenes in it that I think would be really interesting with a visual!
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Omg, look at me mentally blank on every fanfic I've ever read aljdsalkdj. Tbh, if it's anyone, I think it would either be a sequel to your The Missing Element fic, ooorr a prequel to Sheep's The One Where The Orange One Knows.
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Hmm, all of the reviews I get make my day lol, but I still remember this comment I got on a fic I've since deleted, from my KH days. It was only one chapter posted, but it ended up being 10-13k, and the comment basically said it was literally the easiest read they'd had in a while. They complimented my dialogue, my characterization, how I wrote the characters interacting, and just my prose all together.
There are also one or two comments someone is recently leaving on SnoCon that's honestly bringing a smile to my face lol.
(Honestly, any comment that compliments my characterization or prose is immediately gonna make my day for YEARS.)

Lost in Zero Gravity (P.7)
Title: Lost In Zero Gravity (Part Seven) Summary: Fem!Reader x Mob Boss!Tony Stark x Mob Boss!Steve Rogers. Reader is a call girl who runs high end parties. She catches the attention of Tony Stark who invites her back to his room with his friend. She might have performed too well because she becomes their new favorite play toy and they don’t like to share. Words: 2,118 Warnings (for the fic in entirety): Smut, prostitution, infidelity, angst, domestic violence, stalking, possessive behavior Author’s Note: This is more fluffy smut. I needed some buffer before the next drama drops!
Part Six || Part Eight || Masterpost (mobile) || Fanfic masterpost
Steve was gone when you woke up. Probably for the best because you were still a little on edge about the name issue. Stretching, you looked at the clock. He left very early apparently because it was almost 6:00am now. You kicked the covers back and got out of bed.
Picking up your phone, you saw a text from Elisha. She wanted to see you and visit your place.
Texting Steve, you asked, Can I have someone over?
He did not respond for a few moments as you sat there waiting for the three dots to show up to show he was typing. Exhaling disappointed, you decided to go take a shower and tried to enjoy the warm water. When you got out and got dressed, he had still not responded.
A friend. Elisha. Not a john. You sent, hoping to clarify if there was any doubt about your intentions of having someone over.
That seemed to do the trick because he responded almost immediately as you walked towards the kitchen to make breakfast.
Soon. Get settled in first.
Sighing, you tossed your phone back onto the counter and went back to grabbing eggs out of the fridge.
<><><>
They had not visited for a couple days and you had enjoyed the solitude to be honest. No schedule, no one else taking up your space. You were standing in your kitchen in a lounge bra and your underwear, eating a bagel you had just toasted.
It was later than normal than you would wake up. The blame could lie at the feet of the fact you had stayed awake to the wee hours of the morning binge watching videos on your phone.
You noticed your phone light up as you took another bite. Chewing, you leaned forward, seeing it was Tony.
Get ready quick. We’re going to go get your cat.
You only sat there for a second before your face broke out into a smile and then you shoved your bagel in your mouth, finishing in a rush. It was short notice, but you were excited about the cat for one but also to get out of the apartment. You had been in here for a damn week.
Rushing to your room, you threw on some casual clothes. You stopped for a moment in front of your mirror and sucked in your bottom lip. Should you have something a little sexier on? You debated for a few seconds before you waved it off; this was to get a cat, not give a lap dance.
Tony arrived not more than thirty minutes later, and you were pacing, ready for him in the living room when he let himself in.
He stopped, narrowing his eyes at you. You asked, “What?”
“Don’t think I’ve ever seen you in jeans before, that’s all.” He dragged his eyes down and snapped them back up to meet yours. “The fit is nice.”
“Glad to know my outfit is approved. You’re also wearing jeans. Are we going?”
Tony chortled, “Impatient. After you.” He followed you out of the apartment, locking the door behind him.
Terrence was waiting in the hall and he asked, “Who is driving you today, boss?”
Tony told him, “I’m driving.”
Stalling your stride, you looked at him shocked. “You’re driving?”
“Yes, why do you look shocked? I can drive,” Tony told you, his arm slipping around your waist as he led you to the elevator. “I’m an adult, I have my license. I assure you.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen you drive yet.”
“Seems like today is having a lot of firsts already.”
His car was waiting out front, one of his people keeping a watch out on it. They moved away as soon as they spotted him coming out. Tony came over to the car, opening the passenger door for you.
“A two-seater convertible?” you asked. “Really? You think the cat is gonna like that? Or me for that matter? Having to hold the carrier in my lap?”
Tony gestured you in, “Get in, baby. I’ve got someone following us.” He threw his hand up behind the car to the black SUV parked behind. The person who had been standing by the car was sitting in the driver’s seat. “They’ll bring the cat back with them. Enclosed space. I’m not a sadist. I just wanted to have a fun drive with you.”
You refrained from commenting about wasted gas as you did as he asked, him closing the door behind you and coming around the front of the car to get into the driver’s seat, adjusting his jacket.
“It is a nice car,” you admitted, buckling in. “What is it?”
“An Audi,” Tony said pressing the start.
“I saw that. I’m not an idiot, Tony. What model?”
Tony smiled at your scorn. “I know you’re not. A Spyder.”
You frowned, “I’m not sure I’m fond of that name—”
You yelped as he pulled away from the curb, shooting off into the road. Tony laughed amused at your reaction at the sudden movement.
“Oh, love, just wait until we get out onto the highway,” Tony smirked. “I’ll show off this engine for you.”
<><><>
“It’s pretty, but the hair,” you commented as Tony pointed out a Persian cat at the shelter.
Tony eyed the cat closely as you moved on.
“Oh my fucking god!” you said excitedly, coming up to the next cage to a cat already pressing its head against the gate for pets.
Tony came up next to you and said, “So what was that complaint about hair…?”
“Yeah, but this is a Maine Coon! A mix, but still.” You saw he looked confused, and you said firmly. “I want this one.” Tony rose his brows now, giving you a challenging look and you pressed, “They’ve got great personalities! I had one as a kid. They act like dogs but they’re just big ass fluffy cats! And look, it’s a Tuxedo!”
“The hair,” Tony repeated. “My suits. You know, I’m really rethinking this now…”
“You cannot tell me you brought me in here just to not take one home. That would just be cruel.”
Tony smacked his lips and said, “You’re right. Carry on. No white hair though.”
“She doesn’t have white hair. It’s browns and greys,” you pointed out as you continued petting the Maine Coon. “Look at the little marking on her forehead! And she likes me! You can’t leave her here now!”
He stared at you for a few seconds before closing his eyes and exhaling. You held back from bouncing on your heels, knowing you had broke him. You turned back fully to the cage and stuck your fingers back through, her brushing her head against your head in earnest.
“You’re coming home with me,” you told her excitedly.
<><><>
On the way back home, your arm reached across, your fingers tip toeing up Tony’s thigh. The wind was whipping around the two of you as he sped down the highway. You saw that the SUV had lost the two of you a while ago since Tony had kept passing people, weaving into the left lane to jerk back into the right lane around curves. The danger was hot and you wanted more.
Your fingers brushed his crotch and he shot you a quick look, shaking his head. You pouted and he said loudly over the wind, “No.”
“Have you ever had road head?”
“Are you really asking me that?”
You shrugged, “Just thought you would like it!”
“Yeah and if it’s on a drone or helicopter cam somehow – cause if you haven’t noticed, there’s no roof on this car – that I had some woman going down on me on the highway? How am I gonna explain that?”
“Don’t tell me you’re actually starting to grow a conscience, Tony.”
That drew a grin out of him, shooting you a mischievous look. He cleared his throat and pressed a button, giving a bit more space between his lap and the steering wheel. Second time breaking his resolve today. It did not seem to take much when it came to you.
Unbuckling yourself, you leaned over the middle console working on his zipper. You pulled his cock out of his jeans, running your hand up and down it sensually. He tasted like salt and sweat as you took him into your mouth, trying to help it along quicker. Tony groaned, and you felt him tense. You imagined his hands tightening on the wheel, trying to keep himself focused on the road.
“I gotta pull off,” he grunted.
This did not stop you from working your mouth up and down his dick. The car veered a little, into a highway pull off you concluded.
He pressed a button the steering wheel. He pulled you away from his dick, and blocked access. Or tried to. You moved down, running your tongue across his balls, flicking.
It was too much apparently.
“Give me 15 seconds,” he breathed at you, blocking you again from swallowing him. You kissed his hand, running your tongue up his fingers. His lips twitched despite himself and he cleared his throat roughly. He jerked his hand back, giving you a light, discouraging slap. You moved back then, and he leveled you with a look. Pouting, you laid your chin on his thigh. His hand came to run over your head before straightening up when a voice came over his speaker.
“Boss? Are you alright?”
“No, go on if you pass me. I’m pulled off. I’m fine. Just take the cat back.”
“It’s crying a lot because of the weaving highway.”
“I know it is, I can hear it.” That was not a lie; it’s whines were coming over the phone call. “I’ve got something to finish here though, so just go on. Like I said! I gotta go.”
As soon as he pressed the button on the steering wheel, he tapped your head. “Alright, resume, love.”
<><><>
When you got home, Tony encouraged you ahead; he needed to talk to Daryl really quick. When you got into the apartment, the cat was nowhere to be found. You took off, throwing your bag onto the counter, searching closets. You found her cowering under the bed up against the wall. You tried to coax her out with soft noises and holding your hand out but she just put her ears back, snuggling closer to the wall.
Tony’s footfalls came down the hall and you heard him come into the bedroom.
Pushing yourself up from underneath the bed, you came up onto your knees.
“She’s hiding,” you told him, standing up.
“Maybe try with the treats you bought later,” Tony suggested, his hands in his pockets.
You shrugged, “Maybe. She’ll come out for food when she’s ready. Probably when I’m asleep.”
You walked over to your closet and closed the door to shut off another place for her to go and hide. You wanted to be able to check up on her and limiting the spaces to search would help.
“Well, I have to go do some work today at some point, so, that’s now,” Tony commented and you turned back to him, finding him close. “You can get the letter box and everything set up?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Good,” he said to you, giving you a peck on the cheek before turning away.
Suddenly, it came to you again, the last night with Steve. Maybe Tony knew, although a part of you was screaming at you to let it lie. But, despite your better judgment, you reached out, stopping his movement. “Can I ask you something?”
“Shoot.”
“Who’s Cecile?”
Tony looked at you with all shades of suspicious, his mood completely altered by the question. There was a dangerous underlying tone to his question, “Why do you ask?”
You shrugged, letting your hand fall from his arm, suddenly not interested based off his reaction to the question. “Never mind.”
“Why do you ask?” he repeated more forcibly.
Trying to be nonchalant, you said, “Steve called me it when we had sex last. It was just weird. He’s never done it before. It threw me off. That’s all.” Tony ground his teeth, watching you intently, not saying anything. You forced a small smile. “Really, it’s not a big deal. He did not seem to even realize he had done it. I was just curious.”
He obviously did not feel the same. Tightly he said, “I’ll leave you to help the little runt settle in.” He left you then in the bedroom without a second glance.
Something told you that you should not have asked about it and that was not where that conversation was going to end.

Oooh if you’re still doing fanfic prompts, would you write anything for Doc Ock? Cause I would like to request the hurt/comfort part 2 either 4 or 8 with him
Hello anon !!! I finally got a story written for you!!! I hope you enjoy it. I went with #4 "You don't have to be so brave when you're with me." The list is posted by @creativepromptsforwriting
There is some angst here, mention of character death, violence, blood and swearing. The perfect Doc Ock fic, lol. I hope you enjoy it.
Different Stages
She had met him more by accident when she had just finished a job. She was tucking her rifle away when she heard a constant thudding. It reminded her of the T-rex arrival in Jurassic Park. She kept her gun out as he arrived. She had seen the papers and he was the infamous Doctor Octopus as they had labeled him. Two mechanical arms were on the ground while the other two hung around his shoulders protectively.
“Are you going to shoot me?” He asked curiously.
“No, I don’t kill people for free.” She shrugged, lowering the rifle. He took off his sunglasses to look at her.
“You don’t look like an assassin.” He said.
“I know Doctor. That’s why I do it.” She smiled. An eyebrow arched curiously at her comment. “So just passing through?” She asked.
“Actually yes.”
“Well Doctor I won’t keep you. Have a nice day.” She said before leaving.
“Yes that was weird.” Otto said to the arms. There a few more encounters like that until he finally got her one quiet night.
“Are you stalking me Doctor?” She teased.
“Call me Otto.” He answered. “And…yes I supposed I am because I would like to know your name.”
“Call me Evee.” She answered.
“Like the Pokémon?” He asked surprised.
“Oh nice…you’re a bigger nerd than I thought.” She smirked.
“I’ve got a lot more time on my hands.” He shrugged.
“My full name is Evelyn, but I prefer Evee since I always have to change my look at times for a job.” She said, showing a wig. Her hair was short but had some dark orange highlights in it.
“Why the orange?”
“Fall is my favorite season.”
“It’s September.”
“What? Don’t tell me you’re a Christmas person?” She huffed.
“No I prefer summer.” He stated.
“Hey if they can do fucking Christmas in July and have Christmas trees out at the end of September then I sure as hell can do my Halloween at the start of August.” She said defensively. Otto let out a genuine good belly laugh.
“Fair enough. That’s true.” He chuckled as he walked closer to her on his own legs.
“Why the sunglasses?”
“My eyes were damaged in an accident.”
“Oh that failed energy fusion thing?” She asked.
“Yes.” He nodded quietly. He noticed her eyes were an interesting shade of green. The arms stared at her curiously as well. One inched up to her and she held out her hand. It nudged it and she traced her fingertips along the metal.
“Are they alive?” She asked.
“In a sense yes, artificial intelligence.” He explained. “They’re surprised you’re not scared of them.” He added.
“I’ve seen people do a lot worse.” She shrugged.
“Is this your style, hanging on roof tops and shooting people?”
“It’s the most effective method.” She answered. “And I’m quite good at it.” She winked. “Can they come off?” She asked pointing to the arms.
“No.” He turned around and showed her the outer spinal column that had been fused into his spine. “That happened during the accident too.” He said before he turned around.
“Ouch, I’m sorry.” She said with sympathy, but he only shrugged.
“I can do a lot more now.” He said. “So Evee, do you live in the city?” He asked.
“Why ? You want a date?” She teased. He actually blushed.
“No, I just wanted to ask since we keep running into each other.” He said quickly.
“Well yes I do.” She smirked. She took out a notepad and wrote something on it. She walked over and put it in his coat pocket. “If you ever want to drop by.” She winked before she left.
Xxxxxxx
The October chill was starting to come and things were getting wet with the rain as well. Evee had finished another job and she started to walk home. Her rifle concealed in it’s long back pack. She stopped and sniffed the air. “Mmmm…rain is coming.” She said. She also noticed the smell of bad after shave as she started walking again. She knew she was being followed as the rain started to fall. She walked down a few back alleys she knew and tucked her rifle in a corner she knew wouldn’t be disturbed. She walked calmly as her other two guns hung on her hips under her long jacket. It wasn’t long before she heard footsteps. She wouldn’t be surprised if more people pooped out so she had to keep her eyes open.
“Fuck it.” She whispered to herself. She spun around with her guns and started shooting. She took out two before more men charged at her from the sides. She ducked and spun around one guy, using him as a shield as his companions still fired and killed him. Evee got off a few more shots before she was punched at from behind. She growled as she grabbed his arms and elbowed him right in the face and broke his nose. He shouted in pain as she shot him in the head. Evee shouted when one man plunged a knife deep in her hip and dragged it to make her bleed.
“Fucker!” She shouted and punched him right in the throat. He started gasping for breath as she shot him. A few more shots and the group was finally down, leaving her breathing hard. “Fuck!” She gritted as she stared at the infernal knife. She couldn’t take it out until she got to her apartment because that’s where her medical kit was. She was limping badly as she made her way back home and finally closed the door behind her. She stumbled into her bedroom and yanked the comforter off. It wasn’t the first time she had nights like this and it made her invest in black bed sheets to help deal with the blood. She got into a tang top and cut her pants off before grabbing the medical kit.
“What happened?” Someone spoke. Evee grabbed the knife at her nightstand and threw it. It was easily knocked out of the way by one of the arms.
“Otto…fuck…sorry…act first…think later.” She sighed.
“No hard feelings.” He said as he came over to her. “What happened?” He asked again.
“Got jumped by a few pros. They didn’t make it.” She smiled.
“Is this normal for you?” He asked.
“Happens at least once a year. People do it to cover their tracks or just want to get rid of the completion.” She shrugged. He couldn’t believe she was so casual about the whole thing, not to mention the knife still in her. “You wouldn’t happen to be a medical doctor too?” She asked with a smirk.
“I have picked up a few more medical skills. Could I tell you if you hit a vein? No. Could I stitch that up if you asked me…yes.” He stated.
“Thank you.” She sighed. He took his coat and gloves off, along with his sunglasses and rolled up his sleeves. “I’m not going to talk you through it.” She said.
“I don’t need you too.” He replied.
“Good, because I’m taking a shot of morphine.” She said as she dug through the bag.
“You’ve got morphine in there?” He gasped.
“Yeah, never leave home without it.” She grinned.
“Easy.” He said taking her hand. She looked at him and for the first time since they fight was she able to finally catch her breath. “You don’t have to be so brave when you’re with me.” He said gently.
“Thank you Otto.” She rasped quietly. After a few moments he helped her take her shot and laid her down on the bed. “Next time we have to have dinner first.” She mumbled before she fell asleep.
Xxxxxxx
She woke up with a hiss of throbbing pain in her leg. She looked down and saw a blanket on her. She pulled it off a bit and saw her wound all bandaged up. She looked at it puzzled for a moment as she started to remember last night.
“Thank you Otto.” She sighed.
“You’re welcome.” He answered as he came into the room. She looked up to see him holding a plate of breakfast for her. While one the arms held a gall of orange juice for her.
“Awww.” She smiled weakly as he came over to her. “Hey can you hand me that aspirin bottle please?” She said pointing. Another arm handed it to her and she couldn’t help but giggle. “They’re so cute once you get used to them.” She said.
“They say thank you.” He said. She took her pills and started eating.
“Thank you for your help last night Otto.” She said quietly.
“You’re welcome Evee.” He smiled.
“Can you…can you stay with me for a little bit…please?” She asked almost like a frightened child.
“Of course.” He nods and sits next to her. After she finished her food she snuggles up to him and he doesn’t question it.
“Did you eat already?” She mumbled.
“Yes. Your apartment is very nice. I’m guessing you own it?”
“Yup.” He started rubbing her back and she hummed softly. The aspirin helped with her throbbing leg. She felt warm and safe in his arms. She couldn’t help but cling to him a bit more tightly.
“Are you ok? You’re tense.” Otto said.
“I can’t remember the last time I felt safe with someone.” She answered honestly. She looks up at him again as he gazes at her. “I know that probably sounds weird coming from me right?” She laughed weakly.
“No.” He said shaking his head. “I’m glad you feel safe with me.” He smiles. She leans in a little closer and so does he. She’s hesitant to go further, but he does it for her. He gently kisses her and she eagerly responds to his touch. She moans softly against his mouth as he lays her back down while his hands cup her face. When he finally pulls away her vision is blurry as she tries to catch her breath. “Evee what’s wrong? You’re crying. Did I hurt you?” He asks concerned.
“N-no.” She says, surprised that’s she’s crying. “It’s just…it’s been a while since I’ve felt a connection with someone.” She admits.
“I understand.” He nods. “I lost my wife, Rosie, in the accident. I thought it was all over…but they…talked to me.” He said pointing to the arms. “And then I kept running into this assassin who named herself after a Pokémon.” He laughed. She couldn’t help but join in.
“I hope I get to meet her sometime.” Evee teased. Otto leaned into her again and gave her another tender kiss.
“Can I stay here for a little bit…please?” Otto whispered. She could hear the pleading in his voice.
“Of course you can.” She smiled. Otto pulled her back into his embrace gently. The arms wrapped around Evee carefully and protectively. She felt him kiss the top of her head before she fell back to sleep to the hum of the metal and the beating of his strong heart.

Fanfic ask game 😭😜🏅☀️
Thank you for the ask! 😭 Have you ever made yourself cry writing a fic? Yes, actually. It was when I was younger and still writing Sonic fan fiction, however. I'm not proud of all my old writing but I still thank it for where it brought me to today so I'm fine talking about it. I really liked Scourge the Hedgehog when I was younger (evil green Sonic from Archie, not the one from IDW) and I actually hadn't read the comic about how he got the 2 scars on his chest so I thought it didn't have an origin like a fool. XD So I was going to write a whole story of how he got them and it was called Behind the Scars. It was also to explain why he hated Sonic so much. It was basically giving him siblings like the Sonic from Sonic Underground (my favorite Sonic show at the time) and it was a very sad, depressing origin story. It made me cry writing chapter 2 when his mom died because I was a very depressed kid and I decided to write this very depressing fic which I immediately regretted so I never continued. It's honestly a bit of a sore spot for me and even though I got a positive reception and desperately wanted to force myself to continue for that... I'm glad I didn't. That got a bit depressing. I'm sorry. XD I'm not really proud of the story anymore so I won't be linking it but if anyone is curious about it, my fanfictionnet account is Twin-books, though I hardly post there anymore. The site really is pretty much dead. XD TW: Mentions of death, hints at self-hatred and possible self-harm. Please do not attempt to find or read it if this makes you uncomfortable as it does me now. 😜 Describe a current WIP without using character names. (Points if your followers guess who the fic is for.) Oh boy, here we go... um... Local superhero refuses to ask for help or change things to fit them in their new role. Purely based on the past. This leads to the overwhelming catastrophe of their partner losing their identity in order to protect them and the consequences that follow as the few who know their secret rush to help. Hope that's good. XD Somehow I feel it is still obvious what it is. 🏅 What is the fic you’re most proud of? Um... wow... that's a bit hard. But I think I know. Here, I'll link it because I'm actually proud of it. Just an Umbrella. It's still not perfect, mind you... but this one makes me happy to read almost every time. And I think it's a good thing to be able to read your work over and over again without cringing. XD It's a Miraculous Ladybug oneshot based on @edorazzi's Mentor AU. I highly recommend checking her work out but the thing you need to know to understand the fic; The mentor AU is the idea of the PV versions of Marinette and Adrien (Bridgette and Felix) were originally ladybug and cat miraculous holders before they grew up and gave them back to Master Fu. They soon become mentors to Chat Noir and then later, Ladybug (after Master Fu basically leaves). My oneshot is written before season 4 so it's a tad dated but it was wonderful to write from Marinette's perspective for once and it actually made me very excited to write more stories from her POV (since I had mostly kept myself locked in a bubble of Adrien with some Felix, Chloe, and Bridgette on the side). The story was actually inspired by a conversation I had in the PV server with edorazzi and a few other friends where he came up with the funny idea that Bridgette would just collect umbrellas. I had previously written a fic for edorazzi's Mentor AU before but that was for Felix and Adrien and that was back before Marinette even got a mentor herself because we all previously thought Fu would remain her mentor. I had been wanting to write something about her newest addition of Bridgette being Ladybug's mentor. I really enjoyed it. It's completely fun and wholesome. ^^ But what is the story truly about? It's a story about giving up an umbrella. It's just an umbrella after all. : )
☀️ Has anyone ever left you a comment that made your day? What did it say? Hm... it's been a while I'll need to think. I can think of 2 that really made my day. First, edorazzi's comment on my fic was amazing. If you don't know, she does amazing, hilarious liveblogs on miraculous in the PV server. For the Felix episodes she always does them on her Tumblr. (I highly recommend them, they're hilarious). She doesn't liveblog every episode but it's always a pleasure to see whatever she liveblogs next.
I mention this because she made a liveblog for Just an Umbrella and I was completely surprised. I would share it but that would be spoilers. ;P But it was just as funny and as fun as her episode liveblogs. And she was super nice. I was so shocked and it truly did make my day. Second... okay, this one may make me cry. I haven't heard from them in years but I had a friend that went by the username Thunder Croft on fanfictionnet. They had a completely unique style to how they wrote their mystery fics. I adored those. I would leave them absurdly long comments just live reacting to everything. And when I say long...
I mean long. So long I couldn't even take an entire screenshot of the comment. The reason why it has sections of "1967", "1994", and "2013" was simply because of that aforementioned unique way of writing a mystery they had. The entire story was spread out between 3 stories in entirely different time periods that all connected into one big mystery and the goal was to try and connect every clue from the different eras to solve the mystery. They also left little riddles and stuff like that to even figure out. They were a Sonic fanfiction writer and they had written a previous story like it that was actually finished (this one sadly hasn't been) called Timelock House. The story this comment is referring to is called The Children of Lilliwell. I could not recommend these fanfics more, purely for their unique experience. But enough about that, I'm getting a tad off-topic. I'm very good at that. The reason I bring this up is because of the fact I left such long comments they always told me it made their day and we started becoming friends. So when I wrote my fic Behind the Scars (heh, it all circles back), a story I was very proud of at them time, they left wonderful comments on it that I still treasure despite I don't care for that story anymore.
Not only were they my friend but they were a writer I very much respected and I still respect. If I read their writing now it may seem a tad dated but I think I would still love that unique style they had. I'm sure there are others that have had a similar style but theirs was the first and only time I encountered it so it was very special to me. I cannot thank Thunder Croft enough for helping shape me as the writer I am now. I hope they are doing wonderful now and are still writing. They have a gift and I would hate to see them give up on it. But, of course, I was never mad when they stopped producing chapters for The Children of Lilliwell. Or when they stopped talking to me. Life happens, kids grow up, people move on... It's a bit disappointing but the facts of life. The important thing is to treasure what I got and I got to know an awesome writer and become their friend for a decent few years or so and that... that's what matters. Sorry to be all sappy and/or depressing. Thank you for the ask anon! Feel free to ask more if you want! I'm always happy to interact with anyone. I hope you're having a wonderful day, afternoon, evening, night, or whatever time it is where you are. <3 Fanfic Asks Here

yo nadia <3333 i'm bored in my online classes and u reblogged the questions thingy at the right time lmao, so get ready: 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 28, 30!!!, 34, 38, 39, 40 (the intimacy of being understood) (imma stop here lol) (also i'm sorry u're not feeling well, ily and hope u'll feel better soon!! <33333)
ELE ILY. (and thank you, i’m stayin home today cause,,, yeah. i appreciate you sm.) you’re the literal best, i adore you.
1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?
The first fanfiction i read was for The Lunar Chronicles when I was like 11?? and it was 100% on accident and it scarred me because it was a hardcore porn one with a period kink and i was like WHAT IS THIS??? OH MY GOD???? LMAOOOOO i didn’t pick it back up until i was 13-14 and really got into the Fairy Tail fandom. I still reread my favorites on ff.net cause i love them.
As for writing, I wrote a horrible, terrible x-men fanfiction when I was twelve. (my friend still brings it up and REFUSES to delete it so it still gets comments and views, that shit HAUNTS ME ELE.) then tried again for Fairy Tail, posted like two chapters before taking it down cause i wasn’t really feeling it. And then I posted The Intimacy Of Being Understood and here we are.
4. Link your three favorite fics right now.
OMGG okok
@murd3rm1ttens ‘s The Problem How Time Works IF YOU HAVENT READ THIS YOU GUYS NEED TO HOP ON IT ASAP. MITTEN’S WRITING SO SO SO SO GOOD. SAKURA AND INO ARE TOTAL BADASSES. KAKASHI IS A SIMPPPP. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD.
@mouseymightymarvellous ‘s We Were Screaming In Color (Only A Possibility) yes, yes I KNOW. i always point into mousey’s direction but i WILL always advocate that everyone reads her fics, they’re literally so beautiful???? i just happen to be rereading WWSIN rn
@safelycapricious ‘s Shaking Up And Breaking Down series. I found this like?? idfk but i’ve been raving about it ever since. ALSO CHECK OUT THEIR FICS IN GENERAL.
fuck i have more than three but also check out @ambivalens999 ‘s Masks
i do wanna make a fic rec thing where i just rav about my favs,,, might do that later or sum
5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?
Omniscient third person. I don’t like it. Like I can understand that it can be a little hard to stay in one person’s perspective but, in my opinion, if you can, it shows how disciplined you are as a writer. Plus, i just get so confused when I go from A’s thoughts to suddenly what B is thinking about A.
When writers use ‘ ‘ instead of “ “. When writers put thoughts in ‘ ‘ instead of just italicizing them. It’s small things but like they just bother me sO MUCH. most of the time i can ignore it and try to enjoy but other times i just dip.
9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.
@espoir-et-reves !!!!! THEIR SHISAKU FICS ARE SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. And they have a warring states one going on THAT I AM SO OBSESSED WITH.
@writer168 idk if they’re really “underrated” but THEY HAVE SUCH GREAT FICS ON AO3. Like theres an AU with sakura, kiba, and shino that i reread constantly because it just. is. so. fucking. GOOD. and they posted a new one that i’m YELLING about.
@eggtoasties okay they only have 2 in the naruto fandom (one shisaku which is still ongoing) BUT THEIR WRITING STYLE IS SO NICE?? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I still go back and reread their shikasaku one cause UGH i can’t get enough. I love it.
10. What’s your favorite fandom, pairing, or character to read fic for?
Fandoms: Naruto, Soul Eater, The Old Guard, ATLA
Parings: KakaSaku/ShikaSaku/ShiSaku/MultiSaku, SoMa, Joe X Nicky, Zukka
Character: SAKURA. I will read anything with Sakura as the main character and her being a fuckin badass or becoming a badass. I love her.
17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?
aha.. haha.. well. I check my email like three times an hour. its the first thing i check in the mornings too. I’m literally a whore for praise and literally eat up feedback like its going out of style. I also reread a lot of my stuff because i make so many mistakes and spelling errors, or the spacing is weird oR SOMETHING. plus, literally any and all comments make my day, i go back and reread them cause they just make me feel so tingly and warm like “wow. this person enjoyed the fic/my writing enough to tell me. thats HUGE!”
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
Angry, feral, bloodied, morally gray women. They aren’t bad guys, they’re probably the good guy, but that doesn’t mean they cant be fucking raging at the world with raw knuckles and blood on their teeth. I just love an angry woman who struggles with her emotions and just has so much inner conflict but that doesn’t take away from her character or badassery, it adds to it.
24. What’s a trope that you’d like to never hear about as long as you live, let alone write?
The fake dating or miscommunication troupe. LIKE GUYS JUST TALK. AND TELL EACH OTHER OMFG. the entire like obliviousness of “nah they dont like me” while the They holds their hand and kisses their cheek. MOFO WHAT. it makes me so impatient and like mad HAAHHAHA. its probably because i’m a pretty confrontational person so seeing stuff like that just “cmon bro, USE YO HEAD.”
28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?
I have yet to receive a negative comment! Which i was really surprised about tbh. As for deadlines or pressure to update, i just kind of do whatever. I do set goals, but i set them flexible enough that hey, if i can’t do it, that’s okay.
I have a lot of mini goals, like “i want to write this chapter and get it done this week” and then the large goal is “FINISH BY END OF MAY” so i have time.
Actually, now that I think on it, the entire pressure to update thing is probably why i’m waiting until I have all of OL&W written to post it weekly,, cause well. I wouldn’t wanna leave you guys waiting as I tried to write and work out the next chapters and stuff, you know?
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.
AAAAAA YOU KNOW I LOVE THESE AHAHAHAH
Have you seen the way the dead dance, World Breaker? They roar, half mad and starving. Do you not wish, do you not hope to see them twist and bend and dance to your will?
Shikamaru snarls, looking behind his shoulders to where his Shadows lay. “Patience.” He spits. “Is of the essence, Things of Ancient. Know your place as the dark you are.”
34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?
None of my experiences match up to anything I write tbh,,, probably the only thing that is me in my writing is maybe the emotional turmoil? I’m pretty emotionally and mentally mature because from a pretty young age i started forming my own opinions, started looking into the world around us and being like “dude what the fuck this is not what disney advertised”. Then i started talking (read: arguing and debating) with my dad about a lot of it. So, like emotions are kind of hard for me. Like i’m pretty good at controlling them or understanding them, but still. idk its hard to explain ig.
Like the weight of stress, the anger, the sadness. It’s kind of therapeutic to write. Cause i don’t know how to put those feelings to verbal words so writing them really helps.
As for my readers’ image? Probably like some kind of hunched over figure typing away in the dark with a maniacal grin on their face. I honestly don’t know AHHAHAHA but it is fun to think about. I think they’d see me as someone with potential but a lot of room to grow and someone who is imperfect but in a charming way LMAOOOO
38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?
I’m gonna be real honest. Its probably like a 2. I’m a bit of a control freak so I almost always go in chronological order, my writing is pretty linear. Unless, i get bored and jump to one of my fav parts. It's pretty much i sit down, i open the doc, read over my notes and just start writing.
It’s a little boring to explain AHAHAHA but once i get into the groove of things its really fucking great, I can like feel myself in the world, I can feel what i want the characters to, i love it. I catch myself mouthing the words as i type too, which i find hilarious.
39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
I rather like how raw my writing is sometimes. Which might sound really vain, but i do like the way i word things or describe things. I love juxtaposition and repetition, or making a good ole circle back to some minute detail that wouldn’t stand out until i repeat it at the end and you’re like “omg” AHAHAHAHA.
Like those little poetic snippets or certain wording i just sit back and go “damn thats kinda good nadia! go you!’ HAHAHA
40. How did you come up with the idea for The Intimacy Of Being Understood?
AAAAA this fic is like my first child, my pride and joy LMAO
so the idea initially came when i was reading some fic, idk if it was even naruto, but i was like “i don't like this, but i do like the rain symbolism.” And I knew i wanted to write something kind of slow paced, something a little sad and angsty, but would show KakaSaku slowly but surely falling in love.
Idk if you’ve noticed but a lot of my fics, the pairings don’t change each other dramatically. They accept each other as they are and then they grow with together. Like that acceptance is something i just love writing, its so subtle, it isn’t something you declare. Its simply “I am going to love you. I am going to love you despite your flaws and faults. I am going to love you unconditionally because I know you, I understand you, and there is nothing you could do to drive me away.”
The fic kind of wrote itself after that first scene. I kept going back to the rain, go being ghosts, and resurrection, and the small epiphanies one gets. I wanted to focus on each character’s growth with each other. They didn’t find light in life because of each other, but with each other. And i think that’s my favorite thing about that fic.
I wanted something raw and real and just something beautiful. I’m actually really proud of it tbh. Would i go back and rewrite/edit it? Oh of course! I’d do that with every single one of my fics, but i’m not gonna cause i think its in its rawest form right now. :))))
ask me shit plz

Well, life’s been stressful, et cetera and so on. Welcome to 2021, which will hopefully be better than 2020, but boy-oh-boy is the bar low.
I was minding my own business today when some kind person dropped a comment on one of my ‘fics (If It Takes a Lifetime). I replied to them and then read through my other replies, relived the story a bit...you know, Something Fanfic Authors Do. I was reminded of something I wanted to post here for a while, but struggled to put into concise wording: my relationship to the series.
My first foray into The Rose of Versailles was in 2008, all thanks to a certain @kippielovesyou who baited me into watching the anime because she claimed the main couple had some things in common with a pairing I was super into at the time. I got hooked. I marathoned the anime and went to work after episode 39 without having gotten any sleep at all. Shift start was at 6:30am. The assembly line started moving. One of my coworkers nudged me. “Hey,” they said. “Did something bad happen? You look miserable.”
I wasn’t miserable so much as emotionally drained. “Just tired,” I said, and focused on my work for the next 8.5 hours. I wasn’t about to tell them that my favorite characters in a television show just died.
I went home and watched the 40th episode. I felt weird afterward. Still drained. Almost...empty.
Not angry. Not betrayed. Just...this really strange sort of blankness that I had rarely felt upon reaching the ending of anything. I recalled a similar feeling at the end of the 1989 film Glory, but no other piece of media could come close to touching it. I would almost call it peace, though the unsettling kind. I’m not supposed to feel peaceful about a tragic ending, right?
But I was hooked.
I downloaded the entire series on a torrent, something I hadn’t done before OR SINCE. I burned it to discs and mailed them to Wisconsin so that my oldest internet friend (now husband) could watch it. He cried at the end. I forced my sister to sit down with me to watch the whole thing. She cried, too. I wrote fanfiction. I drew fanart (it was bad, don’t @ me). I screamed about it to countless friends on Livejournal. I recommended the series to everyone I knew and a lot of those people joined me in writing fanfiction.
What a time to be in fandom!! We flooded the fandom with regular English fanfic for the first time ever. The fandom was hopping. I met two amazing women (Kasia and Loulou) who spoiled me rotten for fanfiction reviews for the rest of my life. I bought the French manga and read the entire thing. I fell in love with one specific page (you get one guess as to which that is lol). I distinctly remember crying twice while reading the manga in a language I could only stumble through: first when Andre tried to count the stairs in the house, miscounted, and tripped, and secondly when Oscar threw herself onto her mother’s lap crying that she was a human being with feelings.
I still get emotional thinking about these scenes, particularly the latter one. The Rose of Versailles got me through so much. I honestly don’t know where I would be, or who I would be, without it. There is no way Kippie could have known that I would need RoV. For her, it was as simple as, “I enjoyed it, and I think you would, too. Because shipping.” And yeah, I’m a shipper who did enjoy it for that, but it became SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT TO ME.
I don’t want to spit the whole long tale out here, but shortly after I obsessed over RoV, I had my own identity crisis. It was a tough time for me, but it also cemented my future as an essayist who focuses primarily on the literary device known as Identity. When I went to college in 2012 that was my focus in literature, and nearly every essay I wrote I chose to explore it in some fashion. Identity. What makes a character, what shapes them, what changes or moves or motivates them. RoV motivated that love for Identity and my essays motivated the English Department chair to give me a selective scholarship (that they chose, it was never applied for). The reasoning they cited to me was that I had shown a rare passion for literature and the characters within. For the first time in my life I felt validated in my obsession with Identity.
I was in my early 20s when I first saw The Rose of Versailles, and something about the character of Oscar spoke to me, but I couldn’t quite name it. I felt that I understood her, and not just for being a woman working in a man’s field. There was something else. But what? I couldn’t figure it out.
A few years later I started seeing an uptick in romantic and sexual identities online. Demisexual. Asexual. Aromantic. Greyace. Something clicked—for me, personally, as well as my understanding of the characters. And years later, Tumblr flooded with information about ADHD presenting in women, and autism in ladies. And my brain went, OH!!!! OH!!! OH I SEE!!
I know a lot of people love Oscar for their own reason, and I think that’s probably one of my favorite things about the series: that the main character is almost universally loved by everyone, and that she receives this love no matter how the individual fans choose to view her.
Something specifically that bothered me many years ago was a certain persistent disdain for Oscar not returning André’s feelings earlier. She was blind, she was stupid, she was mean, and the worst of all: she was Bad for these reasons.
My God, when I tell you now that the scene of Oscar falling onto her mother’s lap in tears over being treated like a doll made me cry, I know why. I spent years of my life wondering why I was born the way I was. I agonized over it. I didn’t want to be “normal.” I was happy being me. But nobody else was. My sister once accused me of not having feelings. I think of that moment every time I see Oscar struggling in RoV. She’s a private person who struggles privately, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t feel things. And there Oscar was in the manga, having lived her life the best way she knew how, only to have her father pull the rug out from under her without deigning to even explain himself to her. Suddenly, she was not allowed to have an identity of her own. Suddenly, she was not good enough as she was.
Do you know what marriage would do to someone like Oscar, particularly at that point in her life? It would kill her. How terrifying a fate to face, no control over her own life, or feelings, or even her own body.
There’s an important scene in the manga and anime where André considers that Oscar appears “as cold as ice” to others, but personally recognizes the fire of her passionate heart and finds that endearing about her... I always felt that he liked that about her because it was a side of her only he understood, only he recognized for what it was. Like she trusted that part of her in his presence and knowing this helped that love grow. I still think that’s true.
But beyond that, I think André is on the ace spectrum himself, and understands better than anyone how Oscar’s feelings work. (There’s so much more to it than that, but I’ll leave it there for now...)
The part of the fandom that felt Oscar was selfish or uncaring for not loving André back sooner...miss the point, I think, of her character, and of the romance of the series. It’s not that Oscar is unfeeling. It’s not that she can’t love André. It’s not even that she’s choosing not to love him. In my opinion, it’s that she’s ace and the way she shows her love and care is not only different than a person might expect it to be, but also difficult to express—though whether this is due to her upbringing or her romantic identity (or both!) is up to interpretation.
More importantly, she does not owe him herself.
(And, I think beyond all this, usually people who feel this way really adore André, and while that’s great, I think they’re ignoring a key component of his character, which is: he loves Oscar and never even once so much as suggests that she owes him anything.)
Anyway, that was a long post to say: I view Oscar as ace and ADHD and I wish I could go back to 2008 me and tell myself about both of these things, because it would have saved me a lot of worry and heartache all those years ago. But it’s okay, anyway, because I still felt that connection to Oscar, even without the specific words, and I knew André loved Oscar anyway, even though he knew she was different.
If you’re reading this now, in 2021 or later, I hope you’ve been able to find a similar connection to one or several of the RoV characters. It’s not often we get to see slices of ourselves in the media, written in a sympathetic and loving way. Having that made all the difference to me when I needed it the most. ♥ And I hope it’s had a positive impact on your life, too.

Fanfic Ask Meme! 1 & 8 please? ^^ (if you get this ask twice, sorry! Wifi struggles)
For this ask game - thanks!
1. What is your favorite fic you have under your belt?
It’s hard for me to pick. Maybe Crossroads? It’s a Gravity Falls/Over the Garden Wall crossover, and I still like how it turned out. I like to think I did a good job of characterization and the plot. Plus, I managed to actually keep it short, without any gaping holes, like I kept saying I would. That’s rare for me.
My favourite set of lines at the moment come out of a different fic, though: Resolution (DP).
“But you aren’t typing,” said Danny, peering about. “How are we in a story if you aren’t writing it out?”
The Ghost Writer laughed and tapped the side of his head. “Not all stories are written where they can be read.”
8. How often do people catch onto your little details?
Ooh, this is a fun question. *grins* If it’s a reference to a fandom otherwise not present in the fic, then there will typically be at least one person who catches it and lets me know. It doesn’t always happen, but that’s more if the reference is to something fairly obscure; anything more mainstream gets noticed, even if it’s not too overt.
If it’s a clue about the story to hint at what’s happening later or explaining more about what’s going on now? It happens, but certainly less often--at least not that’s ever mentioned to me. The more obvious ones are typically caught, especially if they’re relevant in-chapter and not later on in the fic, but the subtle ones are really hit and miss, and I’m probably averaging more than fifty percent when it comes to tricking people with red herrings, at least of the people who leave reviews. I think the people who read a lot of my stuff are getting better at spotting those, though. *grins*
I’ve had a seeded clue in some of the pieces of Le Fantôme (DP/ML) that hints at a major plot point, but no one has pointed it out. Protocol (DP) has a clue that’s extremely relevant to the chapter it’s found in, but no one’s mentioned it. Someone caught the one in Passageway (DP), but I’m not sure they entirely realized it. Not one person has told me they knew the ending of Shift (DP) before it became painfully obvious, though I’d hinted at it, and you can likely tell where in hindsight. I did this quite a bit in my Doctor Who crossovers--seeding clues--but half of what people caught were the red herrings, meaning they missed the truth until it was obvious--exactly as I’d hoped.
I also sometimes do things that I don’t expect people to notice, so I’m not really surprised when no one comments on it; in Faith (Narnia/RotG), for instance, I mention that it’s two weeks before Easter--and the day I published it, that year, it was exactly two weeks before Easter. So, I am not above doing that kind of thing, either.

1, 7, 25 for the fanfic end of year ask :)
001. favorite fic you wrote this year i have a soft spot for take my hand (take my everything) which was the first fic i wrote this year! and kind of the first step back into writing creatively on something new that wasn’t the 7 year monster sterek fic. also my first foray into 9-1-1 fic and was just a lot of fun!
007. longest completed fic you wrote this year the longest fic i wrote was my second for the year! so show me (family) wound up being around 16k+ for 9-1-1 which kind of burst out of me over the course of one 48 hour window unlike take my hand which took a few weeks to crank out.
025. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read SO MANY FICS DUDE!!! i’m gonna rec a couple, some that i re-read this year and some that i discovered for the first time, all from a variety of fandoms. BUT heads up, you didn’t specify a fandom so it’s gonna be a little scattered. also someone else sent me this same question but specified 9-1-1, so i’m gonna reserve those recs for that ask. GET READY!!
and this, your living kiss by opal_bullets (7/7 | 84k+ | M) destiel; AU: college/university; john winchester’s A+ parenting; angst with a happy ending
only a very few people in the world know that the celebrated and reclusive poet jack allen is just kansas mechanic dean winchester, a high school dropout with a few bucks to his name. not that it matters anymore; life has left him so wrung out he never wants to pick up another pen.
until, that is, a string of coincidences leads dean to auditing a poetry course with one dr. castiel novak. the professor is wildly intelligent, devastatingly handsome...and just so happens to be academia’s foremost expert on the poetry of jack allen.
note: i discovered this fic back in the pre-pandemic times of feb 2020 and i’ve read this fic TWICE since, leaving a lengthy comment each time. the poetry in the fic itself is stunningly gorgeous and i have a habit of reading it out loud to myself while reading bc it begs to be heard. this fic is seriously beautiful and makes me want to read all the poet!dean au’s out there in the world. unfortunately there aren’t that many so i just keep coming back to this well. i don’t think i can express enough how much i love this fic.
lost time by ARCurren (105/105 | 350k+ | T) bransonxsybil; AU: canon divergent; outsider POVs; original characters; slow burn
the story of a free spirit who was asked to give up the man she loved for a system she didn’t believe in and what happened next. AU after 3.04.
note: did i think, when i stumbled across this fic years ago, that it would wind up being one of my all time favorites that i return to time and again to re-read? never. did i re-read it for like the dozenth time this year?? 110%. this fic is everything i want from fanfiction—it’s beautifully written, expands on canon, and shows me all the hidden moments the cameras never did (not to mention it’s historically accurate and delves deep into irish politics of the time). the first third or so of this fic is all about tom and sybil’s slow burn romance at downton, but the fic really bursts into its own when we follow the two to dublin and get introduced to all of the author’s deliciously detailed oc’s. heads up warning: this fic was never officially completed, though the final chapter is a beautifully written summary of the final arc of the fic. even so, it’s fucking worth it.
misfire by mothlights & unpossible (6/6 | 28k+ | T) sterek; time travel; angst with a happy ending; alive hale family; magic; alternating POV
“the debt must be repaid,” she says, and it has the weight of a vow. the words resonate through him, ringing through his ribcage and the bones of his jaw, and stiles loses his breath and maybe his grip on reality because she draws herself upright and where there had once stood a supermodel-level MILK now there is galadriel’s much hotter older sister, a presence of unmistakable power in their ordinary, smells-vaguely-of-thai-takeout hallway.
“oh shit,” stiles says.
note: this fic is the first in the misfire ‘verse and i need you to understand that it literally broke me when i binge read these fics a month or so ago. i am a sucker for a solid time travel fic especially bc there are such few good ones in fandom. but this gets at the heart of it all by exploring the idea of stiles getting the chance to save derek’s family and taking it...after he and derek are romantically together in his true timeline and then actually dealing with the ramifications of how that alters everything and how stiles survives in this new present where he and derek are virtual strangers. everyone should definitely read this, but you should also know that i fucking sobbed while reading the sequel (which also has a happy ending, but really digs deep into the nitty gritty angst of the repercussions).
map of the world by seperis (11/11 | 154k+ | M) destiel; end!verse; alternate universe; canon divergent; original characters; slow burn
the world’s already over and they’re already dead. all they’re doing now is marking time until the end.
note: look, if you don’t know about down to agincourt by @seperis, what are you doing with your life?? the series is over 1M+ words so far, the fic author is on book 4 out of a planned 8, and it’s fucking phenomenal. i know i’ve tagged a couple of these recs as slow burn but...this is the slowest slow burn to ever burn. canon!dean travels back into the end!verse timeline just as lucifer kills dean and somehow cas made it out alive and has to keep dean safe while he learns to become his end!verse counterpoint. the world building in this series is intense and i cannot recommend it enough. i’m still in the midst of my re-read bc it’s SUCH an endeavor but i highly recommend it to everybody.
invictus by ellanasan (116/116 | 355+ | M) hayffie; au: alive abernathy family; pre-hunger games; canon prostitution; slow burn
“so then, before i can even think about doing something stupid like trying to stab him with his fucking golden paperknife, he gives me a choice, see?” haymitch continued, almost detached. “either i play nice like all the other victors or he’ll kill my family. i could either become his puppet—greatest punishment he could give me, according to him—or i could become the example.”
AU in which haymitch’s family lives.
note: hello, have you ever wondered what the hunger games series would be like if haymitch’s family were alive? i fucking hadn’t until 2 years ago when i stumbled across this fic and fell head over heels in love with this ship. @ellanainthetardis is my go to hunger games fic writer for anything exploring canon and i’m obsessed with anything she writes about the OG victors pre-canon (finnick, joanna, chaff, etc). this fic is just 300k+ exploring that world and all the intricate details of how cruel the games could really be. HIGHLY recommend. i definitely re-read it this fall when i needed a pick me up.
don’t know what i’m supposed to do (haunted by the ghost of you) by crazyassmurdererwall (1/1 | 30k+ | T) sterek; canon divergent; angst with a happy ending; ghosts; stiles POV
stiles sees dead people. yep. seriously.
(he’s got this. he’s totally got this. so what if one of them is derek’s mom?)
note: did you know that @crazyassmurdererwall is one of my all time favorite people? and that she’s wicked talented? and that in our spare time she’ll send me a billion fic ideas that are amazing and i get to hear all the intricate details of her plot bunnies? but i digress. this fic is one of my all time fave sterek fics i’ve re-read it sooo many times. there’s just something about the heartache and stiles’ insecurity and the way he tries to shoulder it all on his own. and then there’s alli’s brilliant writing, the way she weaves through a scene and paints a picture just so and manages to tug at your heart strings with her precise word choice. there’s some amazing world building in this fic as it explores this other facet of the supernatural that canon teen wolf never touched upon, and i’m so grateful for that bc alli is the only one who should be allowed to write about ghosts and teen wolf together.
lagavulin and guinness by snarfle (10/10 | 163k+ | explicit) hartwin; slow burn; PTSD; suicidal thoughts; graphic depictions of violence; domestic abuse
plenty of people had looked down on eggsy throughout his life. he had gotten fairly used to it. didn’t mean it was fair, but he knew how these things worked. what really sucked was that the new arthur was worse than the old one.
“eggsy grimaced. he didn’t know how to explain to harry—who seemed like he hadn’t been discriminated against a day in his life—that the new arthur kept giving him what amounted to suicide missions, and that he was currently bleeding out in a warehouse because of the deliberately bad intel she had given him.”
also featuring: dean is harder to get rid of than eggsy thought, his mum is going off the deep end, there are way too many nefarious plots in play, and eggsy is really beginning to wish that harry would stop holding his hand and kiss him instead.
note: look, i know i recced this literally less than a week ago but i ALSO stayed up til 5AM re-reading this last night and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. i was on a bit of a kingsman kick earlier this year, so i’ve actually re-read this fic TWICE so far in 2020. i will give you a serious warning in that this fic delves deep into domestic abuse through the lens of a variety of different relationships. it also explores the potential for abuse in hartwin, bc this fic is one of the few that actually commits to the fact that they’re literal spies who murder people. actively. a lot. but seriously, this fic is one of my fave in the fandom and i STRONGLY recommend it.
waste of breath by bryrosea (1/1 | 22k+ | M) loganxveronica; canon compliant; missing scenes; navy; past child abuse
logan echolls, the nine years, and the navy.
note: bryrosea has an obscene number of amazing logan and veronica fics (her canon divergent series stay with me is another i re-read this year), but i’ve found myself returning to this fic a lot over the years. i’m a sucker for canon compliant fics that explore the missing scenes in between canon and this fic hits all the right buttons by diving deep into how logan echolls went from being a trash fire at hearst college at the end of s3 to being a decorated navy pilot by the movie. it explores logan seeking out therapy and making a life for himself that he can be proud of, all while pining after the girl who got away. and bc this author is amazing, she followed it up with a sequel from veronica’s point of view in the series done by only me.
the law of equivalent exchange by awed_frog (8/8 | 60k+ | M) destiel; POV castiel; pre-canon; post-canon; canon compliant; immortality; reincarnation
“and what’s the point of it?”
“of love? there isn’t one. loving is its own purpose.”
note: i mean??? i don’t really know what to say except that this is one of the truly most beautiful fics i have ever read. it follows castiel through time as he meets different reincarnations of sam and dean across history and falls ever more deeply in love. it is achingly tender and so ecstatically written that i die just thinking about it. and that summary? i mean. holy fuck break my heart why don’t you? i don’t know how i missed out on this fic for so long since it was published in 2015 but i only learned about it for the first time back in july and it was. life changing?? when the fic finally reaches the canon timeline and he meets THIS dean it’s peak yearning. 10/10 will read again.
ahead in the count by elisela (17/17 | 50k+ | E) sterek; AU: sports; pitcher!stiles; teacher!derek; long distance relationship; getting together
“yankee fan,” derek says, laughing when stiles makes a disgusted face. “the bronx bombers, stiles, you can’t be a new yorker and—”
“stop talking right now,” stiles sighs, shaking his head. “i can’t believe i still want to kiss you after that,” he says, pulling derek in by his coat. “this is making me rethink everything.”
“i’ll never watch them again,” derek promises, and stiles laughs against his mouth.
or: stiles is a starting pitcher for the NY mets when he meets and falls in love with derek. derek doesn’t know.
note: i read SO MANY of @elisela’s 911 fics this summer, which i loved, and then she got into teen wolf and started writing sterek and i just about died. this fic is amazing, one of my fave sterek AU’s that i’ve read in years. it’s just the right amount of drama and angst and fluff filled with all the joys of miscommunication and character relationships that makes reading sterek such a joy. reading this fic and finding out eli needed fic recs pushed me to dive back in to reading sterek fics for a bit this fall so i can say with the utmost authority that this is one of the best i’ve read in a long time.
i used to think one day we’d tell the story of us by notequitegucci (2/2 | 32k+ | M) gendrya; alternate universe—modern setting; outsider POV; friends to lovers; friends to lovers
9 times a stark encounters gendry + 1 time he meets the starks.
note: again, this is the first in a 2 part series titled love me like you do that explores arya and gendry’s dynamics together through the point of view of her family. game of thrones ended last year with a whimper but i keep returning to the gendrya tag on ao3 to seek out new, amazing content and also to re-read some old favorites. i can’t remember if i came across this for the first time last year or this one, but i’ve read it and re-read it more times than i can count since and i love it more than i can describe. i’m a total sucker for outsider POV fics and my biggest pet peeve in canon is the fact that none of the stark’s ever found out that arya and gendry had a history together. this modern au fic almost makes up for it by giving me a gendry encounter with every family member and then the big reveal. it’s peak content.
theeeeeeese recs got a little away from me. i wasn’t originally intending on adding lengthy notes to each entry but ... oh well!! these are all amazing so please enjoy.
