Summary:

Not quite a decade after the war, Draco Malfoy was happy with his quiet little Muggle life in Oxford. He had a small group of friends from the university he’d attended, and colleagues from the law firm where he worked as a solicitor. He played folk music on his violin around the city. And he volunteered to provide legal services getting mostly idiot teenagers out of trouble with the law. His life was full. He had no contact with the magical world, and all was the way he liked it. And the feeling of emptiness in his chest, the feeling some part of him was missing, was at least better than the alternative. Or at least it was until the last few months when he kept getting called down to the police station to get Harry Potter out of trouble. Indecent exposure and possession was one thing, but the latest charge was for murder.

OR

Harry and Draco find each other again after the war in Oxford, a completely non-magical city. Together they solve the mystery of the city which hates all wizards but them.

Excerpt:

“Potter, what are you doing skulking out here?”  Malfoy had come out of the pub and found the dark spot round the side of the building where Harry was hiding.

“I got too hot,” Harry said awkwardly, and not very convincingly.

“You sure that’s it?” Malfoy quirked one eyebrow, and Harry nodded.  Malfoy shrugged.  “We can go, if you like?”

“No. No, it’s fine, Malfoy.  Honestly, I just needed some air.  You go back in and play.”

There was something different about Malfoy.  Something in the way he was looking at him.  He’d noticed glances like this before, but never this intense or sustained.

“And what if I wanted to stay out here with you?”  Malfoy reached out and took one of Harry’s hands.  His index finger on his other hand traced the scar on Harry’s forehead down to where it touched his cheek.  Harry’s breath hitched.

“Malfoy?”

“Potter.” Malfoy’s tongue wet his lower lip.  Harry wanted to capture that lip between his own.

“We shouldn’t,” Harry said, even as he put his free hand in Malfoy’s hair and drew them closer.

“It’s a bad idea?  Aren’t you known for those?”  Malfoy leant in even closer.  There was barely a hair's breadth between them.  “I’ve wanted you since I was fourteen.  That stupid fucking dragon and your heroics.  There was always something special about watching you fly.”

“You hated me at fourteen.”

“I was obsessed with you at fourteen.  I would do anything to get you to look at me.”

“Fuck,” Harry breathed out, pressing into Malfoy’s body.

“I’m going to kiss you now.  And then I’m going to Apparate us back home.”

“But what about…”

“Adrian will take my instruments back to the barge.  He has a spare key.  And, as for using magic.  Right now, I couldn’t give two shits.  I can’t wait.  I’m not a very patient man at the best of times, Potter, and I think I’ve been good long enough.”

The patrons of the pub stepped out half an hour later, after last order had been called, to a fireworks display, lighting up the sky over the pub.  They couldn’t, however, quite pinpoint its point of origin, or who was setting them off.

Like Alan is well within his right to be sad that his relationship is over and that there is absolutely nothing he can do to save. However, it wasn’t brand new to him that Wen wasn’t in love with him anymore. Yeah, then still living together and sleeping in the same bed didn’t make the break up real to him, but Wen made it clear multiple times that he was no longer in this relationship with Alan. He had no desire to even be friends with him, because honestly when you’re with someone for a long time it’s hard to just be friends.

Wen finally moving out will do both of them some good, but especially Alan. He can finally mourn their relationship. He can finally be able to move on.

Alan didn’t do anything to make Wen fall out of love with him. They got older and people change.

Harry Potter "To Have a Home" animatic! Song from "A Very Potter Sequel", aka best musical ever. Darren Criss is a legend for writing and singing this song so beautifully. This version is from "Starkid Homecoming", which I literally watch once a week (no joke) 🥺

This is a very rough pass and I'd love to go back and touch this up (possibly animate?). Anyway, this song has many layers; it's about Harry finding a home for the first time in his life at Hogwarts, but it's also the feeling I, and many readers, have when we open the books.

Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.
