201) Rhynchotus rufescens; Kusacz rdzawoskrzydły, red-winged tinamou, perdiz grande, rufous tinamou, ynambu - gatunek średniej wielkości ptaka z rodziny kusaczy (Tinamidae), zamieszkujący Amerykę Południową. Nie jest zagrożony wyginięciem. Wyróżnia się trzy podgatunki o następującym obszarze występowania:

Rhynchotus rufescens rufescens – południowo-wschodnie Peru, Boliwia, wschodni Paragwaj, południowo-wschodnia Brazylia oraz północno-wschodnia Argentyna

Rhynchotus rufescens catingae – środkowa i północno-wschodnia Brazylia

Rhynchotus rufescens pallescens – północna i środkowa Argentyna.

Dawniej za podgatunek kusacza rdzwoskrzydłego był także uznawany kusacz plamkoszyi (R. maculicollis), klasyfikowany obecnie jako odrębny gatunek.

Międzynarodowa Unia Ochrony Przyrody (IUCN) uznaje kusacza rdzawoskrzydłego za gatunek najmniejszej troski (LC – Least Concern). Gatunek ten ma duży zasięg występowania – około 8,7 mln km². Dokładny rozmiar populacji nie został stwierdzony, ale ptak ten opisywany jest jako pospolity. Trend liczebności populacji uznawany jest za spadkowy. Zagrożeniem dla tego gatunku są polowania i wypalanie pamp. Sprzyja mu jednak wycinanie lasów równikowych. Ze względu na smaczne mięso i wszystkożerność tego gatunku prowadzone są badania nad jego udomowieniem i wykorzystaniem jako drób.

Whole-genome phylogenomics of the tinamous (Aves: Tinamidae): comparing gene tree estimation error between BUSCOs and UCEs illuminates rapid divergence with introgression

Incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) and introgression increase genealogical discordance across the genome, which complicates phylogenetic inference. In such cases, identifying orthologs that result in gene trees with low estimation error is crucial because phylogenomic methods rely on accurate gene histories. We sequenced whole genomes for the tinamous (Aves: Tinamidae) to dissect the sources of gene and species-tree discordance and reconstruct their interrelationships. We compared results based on four ortholog sets: (1) coding genes (BUSCOs), (2) ultraconserved elements (UCEs) with short flanking regions, (3) UCEs with intermediate flanks, and (4) UCEs with long flanks. We hypothesized that orthologs with more phylogenetically informative sites would result in more accurate species trees because the resulting gene trees contain lower error. Consistent with our hypothesis, we found that long UCEs had the most informative sites and lowest rates of error. However, despite having many informative sites, BUSCO gene trees contained high error compared to long UCEs. Unlike UCEs, BUSCO gene sequences showed a positive association between the proportion of parsimony informative sites and gene tree error. Thus, BUSCO and UCE datasets have different underlying properties of molecular evolution, and these differences should be considered when selecting loci for phylogenomic analysis. Still, species trees from different datasets were mostly congruent. Only one clade, with a history of ILS and introgression, exhibited substantial species-tree discordance across the different data sets. Overall, we present the most complete phylogeny for tinamous to date, identify a new species, and provide a case study for species-level phylogenomic analysis using whole-genomes. http://dlvr.it/T1pYGC

Puna Tinamou (Tinamotis pentlandii), family Tinamidae, order Tinamiformes, found in Puna (high altitude grassland) in the Southern Andes Mountains of South America.

The tinamous are an ancient group of birds, related to ratites (ostriches, rheas, emus, and cassowaries).

200) Rhynchotus maculicollis; kusacz plamkoszyi, huayco tinamou, waypu (Quechua), pisany także jako guaipo, huaipo, guaypo, waypo (nazwa ta jest również stosowana do innych gatunków Tinamidae) - gatunek ptaka występującego na trawiastych grzbietach górskich w Andach w Boliwii i Argentynie.

Wcześniej uważano je za podgatunek kusacza czerwonoskrzydłego, ale ma ono inną pieśń, a jego głowa i szyja są pręgowane i nakrapiane na czarno. SACC podzieliło je na gatunek monotypowy, a IUCN poszło w jego ślady w 2006 r.

Huayco tinamou żyje w Andach w północno-zachodniej Argentynie i Boliwii na wysokości od 1000 do 3000 m (3300–9800 stóp). Preferuje półpustynne zarośla i pola zbóż. Międzynarodowa Unia Ochrony Przyrody (IUCN) klasyfikuje tego kusacza jako gatunek najmniejszej troski, a jego zasięg występowania wynosi 114 000 km2 (44 000 mil kwadratowych).

Tinamou

All tinamou are from the family Tinamidae, and in the larger scheme are also ratites. Unlike other ratites, tinamous can fly, although in general, they are not strong fliers. All ratites evolved from prehistoric flying birds, and tinamous are the closest living relative of these birds. The dwarf tinamou is the only member of the genus Taoniscus and is a monotypic species.
