Bruce and Cass both have autism that manifests itself in many of the same ways. Babs and Dick both have adhd but many of their symptoms manifest themselves differently. Does this make sense.

i think shes got autism and some sort of funky gender going on. bigender maybe. she/him pronouns. bisexual but like, duh.

i think her hair is super curly and she used to straighten it cause it was easier to deal with but she's been trying to take better care of it.

i think she has fibromyalgia and chronic migraines. she sometimes has to take time off from vigilante stuff to rest but she doesn't always want to. sometimes she tries to ignore it and then either gets burnt out or is forced to take time off.

why? because of the projection.

i think she REALLY likes cass' back muscles. for normal reasons obviously. also i think she's like 5'11. maybe taller! who knows.

i think shes really hard on herself esp from a "am i a good person?" angle. she sometimes gets caught up in this.

she thinks jason is a total loser and makes fun of him but they're also on pretty good terms and they hang out sometimes. they complain together. she really likes making fun of him but he knows its not in a malicious way. (jason is not on super good terms w most of the bats imo so. these two are special to me. also duke and damian.)

one time while she was dating tim he got a haircut and she had to reconsider her feelings for him. (been there tbh)

doesn't like the feeling of foundation on her face. really enjoys lip balm though.

im not fully sure what i think her bi awakening was (did she just know all this time? was it a specific event? i dunno!!!) but i think it would be REALLY funny if it was cass esp if she realized it while dating tim. would this happen? i dunno. would it be funny as fuck? absolutely. steph voice tim i have to tell you something. i want to fuck your sister yeah the one who is scary as fuck. yeah. yeah her scary demeanor and autistic activities have bewitched me.

I dare say my HCs of some members of the batfamily as neurodivergent (or maybe other things)- (I'm studying psychology and I'm hyper into this topic these days, I probably have a ton of mistakes in this too).

Bruce: Probably on the autism spectrum, although it's more like high cognitive abilities (which is also considered a neurodivergence) mixed with his PTSD.

Dick: ADHD and high cognitive abilities too, if not, AUDHD (or all 3 together), explaining the barely visible traits due to comorbidity. (Plus PTSD, but that's for ALL the batfamily).

Jason: Honestly? I don't see him with ADHD like many say, I really like the HC, but... I just can't see it that much. Definitely PTSD and maybe developed BPD at some point.

Tim: I do see this guy as having ADHD. I know the most popular HC is autism, but for me it's ADHD with high cognitive abilities, just like Dick. (And... Yeah, PTSD).

Damian: High cognitive abilities like his father, I don't see him as someone autistic, not completely at least enough to put him on the spectrum, quite close tho- I don't even need to say anything about the other thing, right?

I don't know Cass and Duke well enough to say anything about them, and I still have my doubts about Babs and Steph. Babs would probably be highly cognitively gifted and I don't really see Steph as neurodivergent, like Jason. They are the neurotypicals of the family who catch weird behaviors from prolonged exposure.

Obviously these are MY HC, everyone is free to put whatever mental disorders they want on their favorite characters. I support you 🫵

Dick being neurodivergent, because why not? (Am I projecting myself onto my hyperfixation character of the moment? Absolutely).

Dick finds the weirdest possible positions to be absolutely comfortable. We already talked about how he likes to hang upside down, but besides that, he's always sitting in a strange way.

Bruce doesn't have any opinion on any of this, but sometimes wonders if Dick is trying to give himself some kind of cramp. The others just wonder if the boy has actual bones.

Bruce thought Dick couldn't be a picky eater, but he's totally wrong. Alfred taught Dick to cook because he knows that if he depended solely on food prepared by other people, the boy would starve.

He also taught him other things for sensory issues that he doesn't want to acknowledge. (Yes, there are ways to keep his sheets soft enough, to prevent his shirts from getting lint, even cleaning the slab so it doesn't have weird textures).

Bruce always purposely gave him more work than he needed to do, otherwise he would never get the boy to concentrate. Nothing too difficult, he didn't want to overburden him yet, but seriously, even if he liked math, he would never sit down for more than 10 minutes to do his homework. Organizing his tasks didn't always work, but a deadline? It was his best strategy. Even out of ten minutes, eight were just him thinking about something else and only two to complete the job, he would complete it anyway.

(He never gives him the same task twice in a row. God knows that will never be complete. Have you seen how many jobs this man has? He can't stay in one place for more than a few months).

His thoughts also jump from one situation to another as much as he jumps on rooftops when he is on patrol. Bruce never understands his line of thinking, but it is extremely helpful in solving cases.

Despite appearing extroverted, Dick was still more of an ambivert, sometimes even seeming more introverted, he's just not that shy. His social battery runs out pretty quickly, even if he pretends it doesn't. He still needs time to himself in order to move on, and as a child his best way of pointing this out to Bruce was by hiding under tables in a dark place, or instead, climb to the highest places, farthest from people. Bruce learned that although Dick was used to the noise of people, he was used to seeing it from above, not in the middle of the crowd.

It's not that he's non-verbal, but there are still days where just talking is a no-no. As a child he had better control, but as an adult he just doesn't want to talk, and he's not going to talk.

Weighted blankets? Yes please. Noise cancelling headphones? He would love to, but he is too paranoid to completely isolate himself from his surroundings. (If his friends notice that his leg is bouncing more than usual, they assure him that they will keep watch and ask him to wear his headphones for a while, if they need to talk to him they use sign language).

He also has blackout curtains. And we all know his comfort object is a stuffed elephant, come on. (I love the fandom for this idea. Give the guy his stuffed elephant, give him Zitka.)

Yes, Dick, people have hobbies, but normal people don't change hobbies after mastering them once, much less change them every three days. No, gymnastics is no longer your hobby at this point, it's literally your life.

A special interest falls short when you spent a week without sleep to continue researching your new hyperfixation.

I want Duke to have a solo comic about the day shift but also every few issues some other hero needs a bat's help and he's the one who's available and the other heroes freak out because their powers are randomly stronger and Duke's just like "oh, yeah, lol. That's normal around me." And everyone else is like ????

And I think this should be a frequent part of his solo because other heroes being confused by Duke being Duke will never wear off.

Actually my reasoning for loving Dick and Kori so much is very simple and it's that he's the night and she's his star it's his darkness tempered by her light it's her strength and his wit

It's the way they soften each other's rough edges and see each other for who they are and don't expect anything more or less from each other.

I think so much about how wonderful it would have been for Steph to have been around during We Are Robin.

A whole movement about refusing to cave to fear, about stepping up to protect people when no one else was, about making their own path, about trusting each other to do what's best when they can't trust anyone else.

And Stephanie "There's room in our line of work for hope, too" Brown. The girl who's been fighting for a chance every single step of the way, who refused to back down while she was repeatedly told she wasn't enough, who carved her own path and took on two separate legacies anyway.

She should've been there.

Anyway I see a lot of times people deciding to have the Robins(primarily Tim) looking up to Batman like he's the greatest to ever exist but in reality one of the prerequisites to operating in Gotham is not being fazed by Batman in the slightest.

Nine year old Dick wouldn't let Batman stand in the way of him committing murder until Batman made him his partner and redirected his energy.

Twelve year old Jason was unfazed enough to steal his tires and hit him with a tire iron.

Tim became Robin because Batman was in a self-destructive spiral.

Steph met Batman and immediately disregarded everything he said in order to try to commit murder.

Babs routinely tells Bruce to fuck off when he tries to tell her what to do.

Damian told Batman to his face that they were better off without him.

Cass is an outlier who sees the Bat as the ultimate goal, but even she grew to respect the symbol over all else, and stand up to Bruce when he doesn't live up to that symbol.

Duke disrespected a different Batman(Jim "Batmech" Gordon) but was unfazed nonetheless as proven by his efforts with the We Are Robin movement (but also: look at any interaction of him with Batman. He speaks and does not consider his audience ever)

In short, they all know how pathetic Batman is and will make fun of him at every opportunity

i. band bonding - part one 

“Stephanie, was it necessary for you to end the show by kissing my daughter and flipping off the paparazzi?” Bruce asked, a grumble to his words. 

Steph shrugged from where she was sprawled across the couch, her head resting on Cass’s stomach with Cass’s long fingers stroking through her newly-dyed blonde curls, and her feet bare and in Tim’s lap. Tim was working on painting them, an almost comically adorable expression of concentration on his face as he focused on her pinkie toe. “Yeah, kinda,” she said. “I’m tired and, more importantly, Cass is tired of them claiming we’re ‘gal pals’, whatever the fuck that means.”

Bruce scowled and it grew as Selina, his wife, and Damian, his son, walked in right as Steph cursed. “How old are you, Stephanie?” he asked.

She rolled her eyes. “You know how old I am, boss-man. I’m sorry I was ‘immature’ or whatever.” She smiled lazily as Cass continued to play with her long locks.

Damian shook his little head. “Tt, father, why are you bothering with Fatgirl? She doesn’t care.”

“Fuck you very much, mini-asshole,” Steph said without missing a beat. Cass stopped her ministrations to slap her on the shoulder and, when Steph looked up at her with a pout on her face, arch an eyebrow. “Ugh, I’m sorry, D. You know I love you.”

A strangled laugh escaped Tim’s throat as Damian scowled at her. Dick, Wally, and Duke chose this moment to walk in. “Who do you love, Steph?” Dick asked.

“Baby D. He’s my favorite little asshole,” Steph said, winking at him.

“Steph, darling, perhaps you should stop calling Damian an asshole before Bruce officially loses his shit,” Selina said, not bothering to stifle her amusement. When her husband turned to her, a dark expression on his face, she simply smirked and blew him a kiss.

“Fine, ‘Li,” Steph said, pouting at Selina.

Selina sent her a wink. “Anyway, I came to get you, Bruce. It’s band bonding time and, by unanimous decision, you’re not allowed to be present,” she said, setting her hand on the wide slope of her curvaceous hip.

Bruce looked taken aback. “When was this decided?”

“Last week,” Dick said as he flopped onto the loveseat, pulling Wally down with him. Duke shook his head and laughed as he sat down in a much more sedate manner. “Sorry, B, but you make Wally uncomfy and Steph and Jay get all antagonistic.”

He didn’t look at all sorry.

“Come on, love. You, Damian, and I are going to the theatre and then dinner,” Selina said, dropping her hand from her hip and reaching forward to capture Bruce’s wrist. “I gave Alfie the night off and everything.”

Bruce looked like he was going to protest for a moment, but decided not to. Instead he just shook his head. “Fine,” he said. Try not to cause a scandal.” Steph wasn’t sure if he was addressing Dick or all of them with that last sentence, but she nodded anyways.

“We got you! Go be domestic and shit with your son and wife,” Steph said, lazily saluting him.

Bruce just rolled his eyes again before turning to Duke. “Don’t let things get out of hand.”

“Hey!” Dick exclaimed, an offended look crossing his face. “Why are you telling Duke that? I’m the oldest!”

“And Duke’s the least likely to get into a fight with a member of the paparazzi,” Bruce retorted, sending his adopted-son a look.

No one could argue with that.

After one last narrow-eyed glare at them, Bruce allowed Selina to guide him out of the room and Steph released a bright laugh.

“So,” she began, sitting up but not moving her feet from Tim’s lap, “now that Bruce is gone, let’s have some fun.” She smirked. “I vote...club.”

“Ugh, but clubs mean paparazzi and judgement,” Tim complained.

Duke snorted and rolled his eyes. “Tim, we’re famous. Everything means paparazzi and judgement.”

Wally barked out a laugh and, now that Bruce was gone, relaxed into Dick’s side. “I mean, Duke has a point.”

“Come on guys,” Steph wheedled. “I wanna dance and get wasted.”

Cass made a soft sound. “Steph is right. We should dance.”

Steph sent the group a victorious look. No one would argue when Cass said she wanted something, they all had a soft spot for her (and in turn Cass had a soft spot for Steph and always would).

“Fine,” Dick said, “But I’m gonna call and invite Jay, Kory, and Roy.”

“Only if I get to invite Con!” Tim said.

“Duh. And I’m inviting Babs, Dinah, Kara, and Cassie,” Steph said. “This is gonna be hella.”

“So, let’s go get ready and meet back here in two hours,” Tim said. “Anyone know what club we’re going to?”

“Yeah,” Steph said, grinning. “Helena invited me to hers, so that’s where we’re heading.”

Dick grinned. “Sweet! I’ve been dying to check that place out. ‘Lena always has the best booze!”

Jason Todd has bipolar disorder because I bipolar disorder and I relate to him.

Tim absolutely deals with depression regularly.

Also Dick has anxiety because confident and social people can also have anxiety.

Also Steph has adhd and Cass is autistic because I am and i said so.

So Bi Tim and Non-binary Damian (Yes I know that it was probably a mistype. No I don’t care.) are a thing now which is the fucking best so I am adding to the impeccable vibes that are going on right now at DC.

Tim is ftm trans simply because I am and I relate to him.

Jason is pan. Also Roy and Jason have absolutely been in a relationship at least once. Also I have decided Jay is genderfluid and uses all pronouns and I don’t care that I have zero evidence.

Steph is Pan and Cass is lesbian. Steph and Tim are poly. Steph and Cass are in a relationship. Tim and Conner Kent are in a relationship. (I could also be convinced to include Bernard in Tim and Conner’s relationship) Tim and Steph are also in a relationship. Conner and Cass are somewhat in a qpr where it’s not dating but it’s also definitely a different level than normal completely platonic friendship. Conner and Cass definitely do both get annoyed when random people assume they are in a relationship. Steph and Conner don’t have any romantic feelings for each other at all but they also just randomly decide to flirt or make out sometimes just cause it’s fun. Tim thinks it’s hilarious. Steph and Conner also get mistaken for being in a relationship. However unlike Cass and Conner, Steph and Conner think it’s hilarious. Tim and Cass also laugh about it when it happens in front of them. Tim and Cass are 100% platonic besties. They both very dramatically gag and mutter about bleaching their brain and needing holy water when people mistake them for a couple.

Dick and Barbara are both bi and have both at one point dated Starfire. (Dick and Wally have also absolutely dated at somepoint)

Starfire and Raven both really have no concept of gender but Starfire chooses the label agender while Raven chooses to go by non-binary. Both still are fem and use she/her pronouns (cause presentation and pronouns don’t equal gender) but honestly don’t care either way. Also they have in fact dated before but Raven realized at somepoint that she is on the Aromantic (and ace but that’s not super relevant) spectrum so Raven formed somewhat of a queer platonic relationship with both Beast Boy and Starfire.

And I have no idea about Duke but he’s for sure not straight. Also I could absolutely be convinced he’s not cis.

 The token cishet of literally the entire batfam and their entire rogues gallery is Jim Gordon and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Sorry not sorry but Batman and Damian Wayne are both absolutely autistic and this should absolutely be canon.

Also while we are at it. Tim Drake is the poster child for gifted kid burnout.

Jason Todd also for sure has ADHD.

Also I have literally zero evidence but Dick Grayson is dyslexic because we need more representation in the media and more people should write dyslexic characters outside of just Percy Jackson and so I will choose to believe that he is dyslexic.
