Savor the Flavors of India: Top Dishes to Try at Tandoori Junction Blackbutt
Indian cuisine is the very epitome of a harmonious blend of flavors. Coming together with the variety of spices, herbs, and fresh ingredients, one obtains dishes rich in taste and history. In Blackbutt, Tandoori Junction is the place to experience some genuine food from India. Its menu is quite extensive, and the place is known for being quite customer-centered. In essence, Tandoori Junction is a ride through the best dishes of India. Here is a list of some of the most-rated dishes that you simply cannot pass up on trying.
1. Butter Chicken
As it should be, Butter Chicken is the flagship of Indian cuisine. At Tandoori Junction, it's only an art. The chicken is tenderized first into a cure of yogurt and spices and then received at the fires. It's then simmered in a creamy tomato-based sauce, enriched with butter and cream. It produces a dish that is at the same time luxurious and homey, perfectly balancing sweetness and spice.
2. Rogan Josh Lamb
It is from the Kashmir region; hence, Lamb Rogan Josh is a real 'must-try' for those who like robust, aromatic flavors. This is an aromatic and flavorful dish with soft lamb pieces slightly roasted and then cooked into thick spicy gravy prepared with the use of onions, tomatoes, garlic, and a mix of traditional Indian spices. The slow process of cooking this food item gives the lamb the ability to take the whole of the spices, therefore very hearty and tasty. The colour of the sauce is deep red that is inviting and shows that inside this sauce are very lovely flavours.
Tumblr media
3. Tandoori Chicken
A visit to Tandoori Junction isn't complete without trying their Tandoori Chicken. Marinated with spiced yogurt and lemon juice, the chicken is prepared in the conventional tandoor oven—a specialty of the place, giving that unique, smoky flavor. They roast the chicken very well, yet keep it juicy inside and slightly burnt outside to give maximum flavor. The dish is presented with mint chutney on the side, which makes Tandoori Chicken an absolute crowd puller.
4. Paneer Tikka
Paneer Tikka: Paneer Tikka is a great choice for a vegetarian. Chunks of Indian cheese, also known as paneer, are marinated in spicy yogurt and placed on skewers to grill under a slow fire until golden brown. The inside remains very soft, while the outside grills just enough for it to be a bit crispy, hence bringing out that contrast that is truly hard to resist. Paneer Tikka is usually served with tangy chutney by the side, giving the eater a way to cleanse his palate of the truly savory taste of the dish.
5. Chicken Biryani
Biryani most certainly is a representation of the richness of Indian food, and the Chicken Biryani at Tandoori Junction is an example of that. Marinated chicken, saffron, and an assortment of spices perfume the long-grain basmati rice, creating the most aromatic and flavorsome dish. Biryani is an explosion of flavors with every bite, making the spices liaison with the tenderness of the chicken and aromatic fragrance of the rice. It is typically served with raita, a yogurt-based condiment, to bring the heat levels down.
6. Garlic Naan
Garlic Naan is one more part of the many regular breads in Indian cuisine that make Tandoori Junction a must-visit. This is a soft, fluffy flatbread, slightly crispy from the tandoor, yet remaining soft and chewy inside. This is then brushed with garlic butter and adds a simply aromatic, rich flavor that goes with all curries or tandoori dishes. Be it used as a scoop for a tasty sauce or simply enjoyed alone, getting a taste of the Garlic Naan is an absolute necessity.
7. Mango Lassi
Complement all those dishes with Mango Lassi, a truly soothing drink to cool your stomach after having spicy food. It is made from fully ripe mangoes with just a touch of sugar and some yogurt that make it creamy, sweet, and tangy. It is simply the thing for clearing the palate from all those full and complex Indian tastes.
In Summary
The Tandoori Junction at Blackbutt is much more than just a dining room; it is an entrance to the colorful and varied sphere of Indian food Shellharbour. Be it the rich and creamy curries, the sharp feel of tandoori dishes, or the wafting aroma-rich rice dishes, there is something here for everybody to relish. And culinarily, each dish served must be delicately flavored by using fresh ingredients from traditional recipes.
So, the next time you crave some Indian cuisine in Blackbutt, just head to Tandoori Junction and taste the flavor of India. From your first bite to the last, you truly will understand why this restaurant is just one of the many favored places by the members and even tourists in this area.

It’s never easy being first, but somewhere has to be…
I started my Desi Pub Tour last night in Wolverhampton - where else. I probably would have started there anyway but David Jesudason who wrote my guide book pretty much told me to.
Tumblr media
So the Glassy Junction was first up and I was joined by my friends Dean, Mary and Mat. Dean and Mat mentioned they had been past many times but had never been in, Mary hadn’t visited either so it was a night of firsts for all of us.
I was a tad disappointed and concerned on arrival when we went in to the main bar and all the customers were white (men) who literally stopped talking and looked at us. Fortunately the Desi action was all taking place in the back bar.
It was a fair unassuming set up, which was fine with us. The bar had 9 pumps, one of which was a cider and I think only one was an ale with the rest being lagers, there were also some premixed cocktail pumps (which are just horrendous) and plenty of spirits on offer. We counted 5 television screens showing sport, which meant pretty much every table could see a screen.
The food was ordered through a hatch into the kitchen. I had the regular mixed grill - I shall be having a regular or standard mixed grill at all the Desi Pubs I visit so I can judge them fairly. That doesn’t mean I can’t sample other bits and bobs and the others had different dishes and we all sampled bits of each others, the chilli paneer may have been the hero dish - anyone joining me on the tour beware!
The Glassy Junction’s regular mixed grill was £12 and had chicken tikka, chicken wings and sheekh kebab (this was served on onion as all mixed grills should be). Just for information the large mixed grill which is £18 also have fish pakora and lamb chops. There was a minty yogurt sauce and the red hot sauce too.
The food was good, I started with some chicken tikka and then chicken wing. I had to search a little bit for the sheekh kebab, there were only a couple of pieces but they were the tasty part of the mixed grill. The onions were tasty too having sucked up a lot of the meat juices.
So, to the scoring… as I mentioned it’s never easy being first. I don’t really have anything to compare my ratings to yet, I have had mixed grills in Desi Pubs before but concentrated on stuffing my face and not scoring them. These results are provisional and I will revisit them once I have visited a few more Desi Pubs.
The scoring will mainly be out of ten (as with my other food ratings I may award bonus points and/or negative points). The categories will be mixed grill components, quality and quantity of the components, the price, range of drinks and ambiance.
The mixed grill had chicken tikka, chicken wings and sheekh kebab which feel quite standard. I think I will rate this category out of two points, with most others being out of one. As I feel this mixed grill is quite standard it can have 1.5 point.
The chicken tikka was good, but I have had and expect to have better. There was a decent amount so this can have 0.75
The chicken wings were ok, not spectacular and could have been better. Again a decent amount but just 0.5 for these.
The sheekh kebab was the tastiest bit, but there were not enough, so again just 0.5.
I am going to rate the onions, but I don’t think they should be out of a whole point (this may be revised) but I’ll give these onions 0.5
I may as well rate the condiments, as mentioned there were too. Again, not out of a whole point. I have had better so they can have 0.25.
£12 seems a reasonable price. This bit will get reviewed the most when I have other mixed grills to compare. For now I’ll award 0.75.
Whilst I was only drinking cola, I do have to rate the drink options as it is a pub after all. I thought 9 pumps, with a cider and an ale, and spirit options was good so they can have the maximum 1 point.
With ambiance as well as the decent number of screens, I should have mentioned the places filled up nicely and everyone was having a good time. There was a big group of lads ordering a lot of food as we were leaving it seemed they were there fairly often. We were the only white folk with everyone else appearing to be south Asian or of south Asian descent, which I saw as a good sign and tells me the community obviously rate the place. I think I will award 0.75 for the ambience, it might have got it might have got a whole point if I hadn’t gone into the white bar first!
The total for the Glassy Junction is 6.5
The Glassy Junction is at 131 Willenhall Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 2HR.

Day 13. February 11, 2020. Te Anau to Wanaka. 246km.
It is so nice to not have to load up the bike each day. It was almost like getting spoiled the last few days taking day trips without unpacking, repacking, loafing, etc. Well let's face it, this isn't a gig that is too tough anyway so no complaints! Tried to make a dent in the food Mark had provided at the homestead. Granola, juice, banana and milk provided a light brekkie since I may still have been full from the Redcliff meal last night. Packing commenced and I think my catch all 70 liter bag is nearing its limit. Barely able to clip the cross straps across the roll-down top. Didn't pick up any stuff other than the Burt Munro souvenirs so it is a little puzzling. Plus it feels heavier. No wheelies (from tail bag heft) and for the third day we cruised out of town without diverting to view the famous blue takahe! There is an enclosure in Te Anau where 5 of them live and you have a decent chance of seeing one in the AM. Shoot. By the time I remembered I was already over a 100 clicks down the road and wasn't going to turn around. Cool story about how they thought this species was extinct and now they're staging a slow comeback, still their population is estimated at less than 400.

Our next real stop was Queenstown. We did get some gas in Mossburn. ⛽️ Prices have ranged from $1.98NZ/l to $2.34NZ/l. Mostly around $2.16NZ/l which is about $5.25 per gallon about 2.3 times more than home. We were looking for a couple of unpaved roads today. We blew past Nevis Road. But we did see it etched into the side of mountains and switch backing it's way however we had missed the turnoff and frankly at least from a distance it seemed fairly tight and technical. We had our first taste of Queenstown grandeur when we rounded a corner and saw the first glimpse of lake Wakatipu. Pictures won't do it justice, but that didn't stop most of the cars and campers from pulling over to try. I also tried and failed, but had fun trying! Got some good shots at the Devil's Staircase lookout. Then we ran into a 20+ minute traffic stop. We had nice scenery but it was starting to get warm as the day heated up. Finally the construction crew let the other side go, then our side. We followed the signs to center of Queenstown and on the way saw a number of sky divers, one of whom we both thought had a chute problem as he came down awfully fast... A chair lift porting trampers and bikers to the top of one of the mountains overlooking town. Another group of parasailers who were circling above town enjoying themselves. We paid all our NZ change into a pay station to park bear the waterfront. Loads of barely clad sunbathers were off to the left. Tons of pedestrians about. Buskers and food carts were plentiful too even by the fancy shops like Louis Vuitton along the water. One dog was singing (painfully) along with his minstrel master. The fancier, healthier restaurant didn't have an outdoor seat so we grabbed a high top at the Irish bar in the middle of the action. So many boats buzzing around. Jetboats, ferries, fishing boats and some sort of shark shaped mini jet boat that can porpoise and dive under the water, only to shoot out above the surface. Cool. One signboard I snapped showed about 15 adventure activities on water, land or air. Definitely a hub for outdoorsy types and the town boasts 220 adventure activities each year including winter sports. With our money running out (parking) we looped once more by the crowded waterfront and then rode up to the Shotover River. Soaked up the river's light turquoise color and the outfitter's bright red and small, due to the small size of the river, jet boats. We then rode into the hills a bit and to a quaint town that looks like a movie set called Arrowtown. We had heard about an unpaved road to Macetown and took some time to inquire at the information station to find it. They said that the river was high and not recommended for vehicles without 4WD. We only made the first river crossing. I watched as Ted's tire dipped and was nearly covered as he dropped in a hole. Heavy throttle kept him going and I didn't enter. He kept the bike upright on the way back also but with some water on his seat and for a while, a shorted brake light always in the on position for an hour or so.
So much for the off-roading today. After Arrowtown and a short ride to Arrow Junction the climb begins with 7 hairpin turns. The lookout didn't give a great view of the Stelvio-esque roadway. Up and over leaving the intimidating notch of Nevis Rd in the rear view. Descent into the Cardrona Valley was windy (twisty, not blowing wind) and we had to pull over at the historic Cardrona Hotel. Dating to 1863, one of NZ's oldest hotels was an immediate draw and an unexpected stop. The 25 or so bikes out front were the hook that urged us to pull over. Usually bikers know some great spots. The legendary beer garden as I now know due to the biker knowledge was an oasis that wasn't visible from the road. Some say this is the most photographed building in New Zealand! A few more gentle turns and kilometers brought us to Wanaka. One of the families we spoke with this evening said it is growing so fast that it may be the next Queenstown. It has already supplanted another town as the second largest town in Otago, after Dunedin. The temp had climbed to 80° and in the sun I needed to shed my Klim gear. Found the hotel and enjoyed an hour or so poolside getting a jump on the blog and even a little watersliding. Wanaka sits at the southern edge of Lake Wanaka and aside from a busy lakefront with beach goers and bars, is known for a tree (OK, actually a weed) that grows about 20 yards from shore. This "tree" has its own FaceBook page and in 2017 had over 42k followers. Picture is above taken after sunset this evening. After enjoying some refreshments and randomly sitting with a French couple living in Tahiti as well as a German mom transplant with her twins while across from the lake, we found an Indian restaurant and enjoyed an excellent tikka masala and samosa and naan. Stuffed, we tried to scout out a winery by the hotel but they were already closed, as my eyes should now be. Until tomorrow's adventure!

Exploring the Flavors of Paneer Tikka Wrap: A Perfect Fusion Dish
Have you tried a paneer tikka wrap yet? It's a tasty mix of Indian flavors wrapped up like a sandwich! Think soft cheese cubes with spices, all rolled up with fresh veggies. It's quick to eat and super tasty. When you're busy but want good food, this wrap hits the spot.
Tumblr media
How They Make It Tasty
The cheese (we call it paneer) soaks in a tasty mix before cooking. They use yogurt, red chili, and special Indian spices. This makes the cheese soft and full of flavor. The longer it soaks, the better it tastes! A paneer tikka wrap gets its special taste from this spicy, creamy mix.
Fresh Stuff That Goes In
Good wraps need more than just spicy cheese. Here's what makes them great:
Onions that crunch
Sweet, fresh tomatoes
Green, crisp lettuce
Cool slices of cucumber
The green mint sauce that adds zip
The outside wrap needs to be soft but strong. Some places use Indian flatbread, others use regular wraps. Both work great! Some shops even add a thin egg coating for extra taste.
How to Get the Best Chicken Tikka Wrap
Want your paneer tikka wrap to taste amazing? Eat it right away! Hot cheese and cool veggies taste best together. Ask for extra mint sauce if you like it - it makes every bite better. Like spicy food? Tell them to add some hot peppers.
Many places let you pick what goes in your wrap. You can ask for more veggies or different sauces. It's your wrap - make it how you like it!
Look for places that cook the cheese fresh. You'll smell the nice smoky scent, and you can see brown spots on the cheese. These marks mean it's cooked right.
This wrap is a fun mix of old and new Indian food. It takes the yummy taste of grilled paneer and makes it easy to eat on the go. You'll love this tasty handheld meal whether it's lunch or dinner time. The best paneer tikka wrap gives you all the flavors you want in each bite!

You asked for recommendations and being a dyed in the wool Bearwoodian who is also a patron of Warley Woods (it saved my sanity during lockdown, me and the missus walked there 2 or 3 times a week using the outdoor exercise machines) I thought that I'd give you one of my Bearwood recommendations: The Maharaja Express which was the old King's Head in Bearwood on the junction of Hagley Road and Lordswood Road. As a Baggies fan you must be used to the blandishments of The Vine near the Albion ground, one of the original and best Asian grill pubs. I would say that the Maharaja Express food is just as good and a bit more varied than The Vine with the whole place being a bit more genteel (the Victorian ceramic tiles on the staircase to the upstairs party room are particularly fine. Me and the Missus Mary are having a 60th/65th birthday party in the party room on 31st March!). The Punjabi grill food is particularly fine and you can hear the mixed grill coming throughout the pub as it arrives sizzling on its skillet and the portions are huge! Our favourites for lunch are the tikka wraps (they also do paneer wraps for vegetarians) You get two tikka wraps and a big portion of seasoned chips each for £7.95. We normally eat only one of the wraps and share the chips between us, having a "doggy bag" for the other wrap to eat at home for tea later. The vegetable biryani is also good value at £8.50 and we were absolutely full when we ordered a single biryani and the wraps on a lunch visit one time. Drinks are reasonably priced as it is a pub with real ales and a variety of ciders. Beverages are also available and the cappuccino being especially good value at £2.95. There is also a large outside terrace for those lazy, hazy Bearwood summer evenings after a stroll round Warley Woods (which I can also recommend as a great 100 acre Bearwood green  space) The King's Head is also dog friendly for those walking their dogs in nearby Warley Woods and Lightwoods Park. The pub is run by Rajesh Deol and his wife Savita who are fine hosts and their bar manager Hussain has gone above and beyond expectations in helping us with our birthday party celebrations upstairs at The King's (at Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnxd5xvjoT6JeEtZov3UUt2y9xoTsNtOFkY3jo0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

India’s Frozen Food Market and Demand
The frozen food market in India is expected to continue its growth trajectory in the forecast period, and its market is expected to be US$ 3.1 Billion by 2026, from US$ 1.1 Billion in 2020.
In the previous years, only french fries and basic frozen vegetables were sold in India. But in the span of 5 to 10 years the frozen food industry in India has completely revolutionized. With the evolution of modern retail outlets like Food Bazaar, DMart, Spencers, and online grocery stores like Big Basket, Groffers frozen food industry in India is witnessing a positive growth. Although the consumption and supply of frozen food in India is still negligible in comparison to the world due to various reasons. These are a handful of existing players, the large population of India, higher-priced foods products, lower awareness among the consumers and challenges regarding infrastructure and logistics like shortage of cold storage are the present barriers to the growth of the frozen food market. A 180% increase in market is forecasted due to the fact that there has been a significant rise in the number of millennial and gen-Z consumers among the semi-urban and urban people. They are opting for improved awareness, convenience and acceptance of frozen food because it is quick and easily available. But the real challenge would be to maintain the price range of frozen food the same as normal products, for example fruits, vegetables and meat.
Several government schemes like Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) have provided financial support for building and enhancing new cold storage facilities in India. The advancement in cold chain infrastructure has further supported the supply and distribution of frozen food products in tier I cities. This has spurred growth in the country's frozen food market. The surging cases in this second wave of the coronavirus have made the whole country go into lockdown mode again. With most people working from home, shelves of frozen foods are clearing thick and fast  these days. These items are available year-round regardless of the season.
COVID-19 greatly impacted the restaurant businesses, giving more momentum to frozen foods. The low-ingredient availability has left everyone shifting towards ready-to-cook meals and frozen food alternatives. Looking at the spike in frozen foods, Indian companies are capitalising on local delicacies that comprise organic ingredients.
Frozen food consists of frozen fruits, vegetables, fish & marine produce, meat, ready meals, bakery products, soups, and appetizers that provide domestic consumption and export opportunities. The surging number of Farmer Producer Organisations, solar-based refrigeration technologies, freezing and chilling facilities would boost the values of the farmers in India. When it comes to cuisine, India is known for its diversity. In order to satisfy the unique Indian palettes that require a different taste every now and then, companies have come up with more Indian variants like cutlets, samosas, parathas and kebabs, among others and there will never be a shortage of variety of food to freeze.
The key players of the India Frozen Food market are IFB Agro Industries Limited, McCain Foods (India) Private Limited, Godrej Tyson Foods Limited, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Private Limited, Tanvi Foods, Venky’s (India) Limited, ITC Limited, Innovative Foods Limited, West Coast Fine Foods Private Limited, Vadilal Industries Limited, Gadre Marine Export Private Limited, Al Kabeer Exports Private Limited and Darshan Foods Private Limited, among others.
Moreover, with the evolution of modern retail outlets like Food Bazaar, DMart, Spencers, and online grocery stores like Big Basket and Grofers, the frozen food industry in India is witnessing positive growth.
