Finally! Enough time to breath and be unhinged over this book! A lot has happened but hopefully I'm back and being consistent now. I'll throw my thoughts on chapters(some more than others) I missed up to the latest!
@journeythroughjourneytothewest
Chapter 11, Burocracy! (the horror)
Emperor Taizong goes to the underworld to explain his case against the 10 kings after promising to save the old dragon but failed too. Promises or giving your word was(and I think still is) a big deal. It's tied to how committed, trustworthy, and reliable you are. It's the intent you give to the other and the strong meaning behind. In some cultures, you can be cursed to a terrible fate if you break it. So Taizong explains his side of the story and the king agreed he tried his humanly best and not in trouble. Which instead of a meeting, this could've been discussed over a letter. The kings tell him he has 13 years left to live, I rather I didn't know but that's just me, and he thanks them. He tours the underworld to see the inter workings and all the men he sent to death or killed. Taizong given a chance to start changing his ways and to save the lost souls who passed before returning to the living. Once the Emperor returns, he makes changes post haste by allowing concubines free and marrying officials, allowing those on death row to visit family and tie up loose ends for one year before their death, and giving offerings to the lost souls so they can pass on. Then he sends Liu Quan to posion himself to offer melons as thanks to the 10 kings.
Chapter 12:
You can't convince me that Liu Quan and the emperor’s sister didn't have something going on. I find it a little to convenient that his wife gets to have the sister's body. Either there was affair or something shady. Anyways, the emperor goes about giving thanks to those who helped him in the living, which leads up to Buddhism being popularize and temples in his name. And our good boy Xuanzang, Child River Float, the man who has many names/titles just like Sun Wukong. He's giving another name, Tripitaka, things and people to help him out his journey to the west.
Chapter 13:
Tripitaka gets kidnapped and watch his men and possibly friends devoured in front of him. The gods are on his side and saves him(literally) from being eaten himself and escapes. He's still in the Tang region and encounters a nice country man who gives him shelter, food, and a guide out of the territory.
Chapter 14:
Wukong back! And Tripitaka frees him out of the mountain after learning who and what Wukong's crimes are. Tripitaka trust him enough since old monkey didn't lie, HOWEVER!, Wukong the sneaky shit didn't mention how he pissed on Buddha's hand. The monk may have pardoned him not knowing that, but I'll always remember his piss crimes(never forget never forgiven!). After Wukong freed and given +1 tiger skin, the dou are actually pretty sweet and nice to each other. Though it might be the high for Wukong being free again and Tripitaka feeling safe against worldly and otherworldly threats. That all changes one winter day when six bandits attack and Wukong murked them. Then the two argued over it and Wukong leaves. Thankfully not mad enough to make the monk into a meat patty, but I could argue and say Wukong got some time to get to know Tripitaka. The two been traveling more than a few days, enough time to start getting to know each other better and forming a bond. So! With that in mind, Wukong goes back to his mountain but makes a pit stop at the dragon palace(maybe a subtle I'm back) for tea. The old kings catch up and the dragon king reminds Wukong he's been given another chance to be a true immortal and on the path of good. Now pre havoc Wukong wouldn't gives two shits and leaves without a second thought, post havoc Wukong however...does care (a little) and decides to go back. Finally putting his all into this journey, even telling a unhappy Guanyin he's going back. He joins up with Tripitaka.....and gets tricked into wearing the headband. Now don't be mad at our monk cause when he stops Wukong does tries to kill him AND left him defenseless and alone. So the two learn some new things about each other and themselves.
Chapter 15:
Lost a horse and gain a dragon horse after the dragon horse ate the other horse. The boys couldn't do much so they called Guanyin, or Wukong convinced them after some talking.
Chapter 16, 17, and 18
(go a head and steal the meme. Share it with your friends and the world)
Running theme or joke that Wukong needs Guanyin help to take care of the problems in the way. Especially in chapter 16 after burning down a monastery and having a rather beautiful cassock stolen. But hey! Guanyin gets a free bear to guard her place.
Now for chapter 18! Everyone favorite idiot, Zhu Bajie!
I like the fact the family might have been cool with Bajie if wasn't eating them out of their homes, letting them see their daughter, actually taking care of her(poor girl was so sickly when freed!), and ya know being upfront with what he is and not lying to them. If he was upfront about who he is and showed he's trustworthy then maybe he could've gotten a wife. (I can see a retelling like this, beauty and the beast ess) But know idiot being idiot didn't do any of that and now got a terrifying monkey on his back. Well until Guanyin shows up while he was hiding from Wukong(that is a horror in of itself). Another party member! Whoo! Still no meat for you Bajie. Be bitchless and get bald like the rest of us. (Not me though, I'm just here for the ride like the dragon horse)
#journey to the west#sun wukong#jttw#xiyouji#zhu bajie#tripitaka#jttw book club#jttw bai longma#so much has happened since i last wrote for the book club#sadly I cant write more as life is dragging me away!#Though I'll say i finally wrote that horror story on Zhu Bajie a while back. I didnt like the ending so much so eventually ill rewrite it

Its one of those days i couldn't sleep because the world is beautiful and pretty and,,, i mean. We went to ranthambore and ran into a tiger at the gate. It stood to the left and watched our jeep pass by. We saw it again a dew hours later. We went to thar and traveller quite far, first on normal jeeps, then ones designed specifically for sand (my hair whipped all over my face from the wind from how fast it was going, and i looked kinda freaky) , then on long trains of camels and finally we played for hours on a sand dune and watched the sun set and ive never experienced anything like that again, because there isnt anything like that i don't think. We saw a fox at bharatpur - we saw plenty of birds, too, but i only remember the fox for some reason, it was years ago - and once we were returning from rishikesh and my father called a pair of foxes that we simply ran into as "unfed dogs" and i think aboutthat to this day. We'vebeen to sikkim, and a bridge collapsed so on the third or fourth day of our trip we crossed a river by foot on a very unstable mountain and thats not an experience i will ever forget, it was dangerous but so fun. I slipped and fell into a riverlet a dew days after that and it was cold. In a different trip we ate maggi at the last restaurant of india in the Himalayas... i forget where it is, but it had been a surreal experience. Waking up to the sounds of sparrows and crows and mainas in munsiyari. Following a group of dogs to a temple, as if they were our tour guides for the day. We met a lady with a goat called Kaju (cashew) and she said it was named by someone from the same city as me, another tourist who passed by months ago. She let me hold the goat and it was so soft and precious. A vulture landed near our house the other day. Thats not normal. That was the first time i had ever seen one. Vultures are big. That thing was easily twice or thrice the size of the kites we get. One of those kites tried to bother it but its attempts failed and it went away. The vulture stayed in the same spot for at least 20 hours before it left. A friend told me that i should have called animal services, because that's not normal.
I've fed cows and dogs and crows by hand. It's a precious feeling. The crow looked right in my eyes and that was the first time i understood how smart they are. You can see it in their eyes. You can see it in a cow and a dog and a fox and in tigers and lions and squirrels and birds. We went to the east coast of the US and the squirrels there are so much bigger than ours. We've been to europe and this guy just... picked a pigeon off the street and put it on my arms before i processed whats going on. We rode a ship from britain to somewhere, i didnt understand much of the trip i had no clue what i was doinf, and theres nothing really like that. And theres nothing like seeing the clouds from a plane or talking to people as the scenery passes by on a train or,,,
Its just one of those days that i think about how pretty and beautiful the world is
#duckbang posts#desiblr#Im not sure how totag this so I'll leave it untagged for now#Feel free to rb

The Role of Paro in Bhutanese History
Paro, a beautiful valley of Bhutan, was once the main center of the country for commerce, culture, and politics until 1962. Today, Paro is the summer capital. It serves as a gateway to Bhutan, with the country's only International Airport, known as Paro International Airport.
The kingdom is a landlocked country, which opened its gate to the world of tourism in the second half of the 20th century. If we talk about the history of Bhutan, you will notice Paro’s political and religious importance. Now Paro is the summer capital of Bhutan.
Once you visit here, after a proper rest in a hotel in Paro, you can communicate with our tour guide to help you understand the meaning behind every destination you visit. This will make it more clear how Paro has brought changes in Bhutanese history. However, for your research we have discussed Paro’s role in Bhutan's history.
1.Paro’s Spiritual Heritage
If we look at the distribution of the population based on religion, we will notice about three-fourths of Bhutanese follow the Buddhist religion. The spiritual heritage of Bhutan is ingrained in the history of Paro’s different monasteries and festivals. Its several monasteries have historical significance which adds meaning to Bhutan's spirituality.
The history of Bhutan started in 747 AD when Guru Rinpoche introduced Buddhism to the kingdom. It was said that he traveled all over Taktsang, Paro, riding a tiger. He tamed and conquered the evil spirit blocking his way. And from here the story and deeds of the most famous saint were born.
The legend of Taktsang Monastery:
From the time of 747 AD, a story takes place that changes the history of Bhutan. Guru Rinpoche also known as Guru Padmasambhava, is believed to be the reincarnation of Shakyamuni Budhha. It was foretold by Buddha Shakyamuni Budhha himself. He was the legendary saint who brought Buddhism religion in Bhutan.
Back to the legend of Taktsang Monastery also known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery, legends say that Guru Rinpoche assumed a wrathful form in the cave to eliminate the evil spirits. He chose a cave to mediate to bring his avatar Guru Dorji Drolo. He eliminates evil while striding a tigress. The tigress is known to be the transformation of the consort of Guru Rinpoche, Yeshi Tshogyal. Together they bring an end to the evil spirits from eastern Bhutan, Singye Dzong to Taktsang.
His eight incarnated manifestations took shape in Taktsang, making it one of the most sacred sites in the history of Bhutan. He stays there for 3 years to eliminate the malicious spirits and teach his disciples. This is where the monastery was built.
Dzongs and Monasteries:
Like the popular Tiger’s Nest Monastery, there are several other monasteries and Dzongs serving the purpose of Bhutan's spirituality. Buddhism has a profound impact on the architecture of dzongs, which consist of various temples and stupas. Various Rinpung Dzong, and Hungrel Dzong, are important Dzngs of Paro that serve the purpose of both monastery and fortress (Dzong).
2.Strategic Political Role
Military significance
Rinpung Dzong was constructed by the Unifier of Bhutan. He was Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is also known as Paro Dzong. This place served the purpose of a monastery and fortress and was built to overlook the Paro Valley.
Rinpung Dzong or Cliff of the Heap of Jewels, was once a small temple in 15th century, built by a Buddhist lama. Later it was renovated into a fortress. The dzong or fortress was built to protect Paro from Tibet. It is where a meeting took place for the National Assembly. It was the center consisting of administrative offices and temples.
Drukgyel Dzong is a Buddhist fortress as well as a monastery which was built in order to celebrate the victory against Tibet.
These Dzongs speak the weight of how determined the Bhutanese were to protect their country from external threats.
Gateway to Bhutan
From Bhutan, Paro serves as the gateway to Tibet and India. The geographical location and its fertile valley made it the best focal point for trade. Due to its spiritual significance, Paro was best for cultural exchange.
3.Economic and Trade Hub
Paro is a fertile valley of Bhutan. This supported the agricultural contribution to Bhutan's food supply. Several centuries ago this place was a trade point between Bhutan and Tibet. Traders traveled over several routes between Tibet and Bhutan at different times. Due to rivalry and competition among regional chieftains, the trade centers diverge from one center to another. Tibetan traffic was carried through Paro-Lasha. Various textiles, grains, and salt were traded through these routes.
4.Cultural and Artistic Legacy
The center of various Bhutanese arts is central to Paro. This is where various Thangka paintings and traditional architecture are found. If you are traveling with your partner, you can book your hotel in Paro for couples and slowly enjoy the beauty of Bhutan's cultural legacy at your own pace.
Paro is one of the most attractive destinations for festival celebrations. Different festivals have their historical significance. Through these festivals and traditional architecture, Paro showcases its historical importance in Bhutan. Festivals like Paro Tshechu have a beautiful historical story.
The first Tshechu was held in order to help Guru Rinpoche spread Buddhism by the King of the nation. When the then-king was on the verge of death, Guru Rinpoche healed him through a series of dances in Bumthang Valley. With his power, the king was healed and he helped Guru Rinpoche with his goal of promoting Buddhism in Bhutan. From then on Paro Tshechu was held every year in Paro to this day.
This has attracted several visitors from all over the world. A key attraction in Bhutan is also the reason behind the growing popularity of Bhutan amongst travelers when the country has opened its gates for tourism.
To understand the history of Paro you can communicate with your guide to teach you about the stories behind the destination you are visiting.
5.Literary and Musical Traditions
Paro is home to various scholars and monks. That has contributed to the overall country’s rich literary traditions. This tradition has created several Buddhist texts and oral storytelling.
The folk music of Paro has been passed down from generation to generation, which reflects the musical tradition of Bhutan. Various travelers are excited to watch and listen to these performances that have been passed down from ancient times.
Conclusion
Bhutan's history is hugely impacted by Paro directly and indirectly. The spreading of Buddhism started from Paro itself. This has changed everything about Bhutan. Guru Rinpoche, the most respected saint of Bhutan who introduced the religion to Bhutan, has changed the course of Bhutan's historical path. Apart from religious significance, Paro plays an important role in trading, architecture and so much more. You can visit the kingdom and book a hotel in Paro to understand the intricacies of Paro and Bhutan slowly.

A Complete Guide to Krabi Airport Transportation and Travel Tips
Krabi, a stunning province in Thailand, is known for its pristine beaches, limestone cliffs, and vibrant culture. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing vacation or an adventurous getaway, knowing the right transportation options from the Krabi Airport is crucial. This guide will provide you with essential information on Krabi airport transportation options, valuable travel tips, and how to snag the best travel deals in Krabi.
Krabi Airport Transportation Options
Krabi International Airport (KBV) is the primary gateway for travelers arriving in this picturesque region. Located about 15 kilometers from Krabi Town and 30 kilometers from Ao Nang, the airport offers a variety of transportation options to get you to your destination comfortably and efficiently.
1. Airport Taxis
One of the most convenient ways to get from Krabi Airport to your hotel or other destinations is by taxi. Taxis are available at the airport’s designated taxi stand. The fare to Krabi Town is around 500-600 THB, while the price to Ao Nang can range from 600-800 THB, depending on traffic and your specific hotel location. Taxis provide a comfortable and private ride, making them ideal for those traveling with luggage or in groups.
2. Private Transfers
For a more personalized experience, many travelers opt for private transfer services. These can be booked in advance and will pick you up directly from the airport to your accommodation. This option offers the convenience of a door-to-door service, often in a more luxurious vehicle. Private transfers are especially beneficial if you’re traveling with family or a group and want a hassle-free journey.
3. Shuttle Buses
Shared shuttle buses are another economical transportation option. These buses run regularly between the airport and popular tourist destinations like Ao Nang and Krabi Town. While they’re cheaper than taxis or private transfers, shuttle buses may take longer due to multiple stops along the way. A typical shuttle ride costs around 150-250 THB per person.
4. Car Rental
For those looking to explore Krabi at their own pace, renting a car is a great option. There are several car rental agencies located at Krabi Airport, offering a range of vehicles for different budgets. Renting a car gives you the flexibility to travel around the province and explore less touristy areas without relying on public transport.
5. Songthaew (Shared Taxi)
Songthaews are shared pick-up trucks with benches, commonly used as local transportation. They operate along fixed routes and are a very budget-friendly way to get from the airport to nearby destinations. Although less comfortable than taxis, songthaews are ideal for travelers on a tight budget.
