Here's my collection of FF7 photo shoots in FF14. The above↑ was from when we visited a Japanese server FF7R themed house. Below was when FF7 Remake first came out↓

It's actually funny because most of my FF7 cosplays were before I played the original game (a month or so ago) and were based on the remake and Crisis Core Reunion.

I never played any main Final Fantasy games before.

So last year I decided to start playing through all the main line numbered Final Fantasy games starting with the very first one, minus the MMOs, as I have never played them and knew next to nothing about any of them. Before starting, my knowledge on the game was limited to a few Memes, osmosis from listening, and a few things from Kingdom Hearts. As such I’d like to share my limited knowledge of the Final Fantasy Series. Final Fantasy 1: all I really knew was that you picked four classes at the start and had at it, and that it was one of Square’s last ditch efforts to actually succeed as a video game company.

Final Fantasy 2: I knew was consider the second worst game in the series and that Guy speaks Beaver.

Final Fantasy 3: All I knew was that the final dungeon was so bad, the developers went on record years later say that they also agree that its terrible and apologized for making it so bad.

Final Fantasy 4: Is the first one with a plot and Spoony Bard

Final Fantasy 5: Is one of only two games that I know absolutely nothing about, as no one ever seems to talk about it.

Final Fantasy 6: Is the one with the Clown that takes over the world and is considered the best of the first generation of Final Fantasy games.

Final Fantasy 7: Is the one that got super popular, has Cloud cross dress in it, a city that blows up at some point, Sephiroth is the final boss, and Tifa is in it.

Final Fantasy 8: Is the one with Leon, Gunswords, the card game everyone likes, and Magic involves Drawing somehow.

Final Fantasy 9: Is the one with the named Black Mage that I funnily enough, cant remember said name.

Final Fantasy 10: Is the one with that one laugh, the under water sports game, and no one for a while being able to correctly pronounce Tidus.

Final Fantasy 11: Is an MMO.

Final Fantasy 12: Is the other one I know absolutely nothing about, as no one ever talks about that one either. The most I can gather is that because its named the Zodiac Age, it’ll involve the zodiac in some way.

Final Fantasy 13: Is the one I probably know the most about due to me being active online when it was coming out and watching everyone bash it into the ground at how bad it is, from the characters to the combat system. It was so bad that the president of Square at the time made a public speech apologizing to everyone at how bad FF13 was, as well as the first version of FF14, saying that because of those two failures, and how those two games existing as they were irreparably damaged FF as a brand.

Final Fantasy 14: Is an MMO, and the first version of it was so bad, it was nuked into oblivion by a giant space rock and then became one of the better ones. You can get married in it, also Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime.

Final Fantasy 15: Is the road trip one.

And thats everything I knew about Final Fantasty games as a series before starting this adventure.

OMGGGGG I heard Yoshi-P is a huge fan of Tifa? LMAOOOOO no wonder that private chat convo example between Cloud flirting with Tifa existed on FF14. There's a reason I liked this guy ahahaha, he's a no nonsense type I see, straight to business. And the M rating isn't much clearer. I guess it comes down to the rating board at the time whether something will pass or not. I'd assume Remake is gonna stay T because they wanna grab the teen market and then ffxvi will draw in the older teens which is what SE had planned by making Remake a bridge between old and new, with XVI being the first new numbered title for the next generation of FF gamers.

As someone playing both, I gotta say they nailed it. If I only played remake I'd wanna play more FF and then get into XVI and maybe see what the older games are like.

As for the hw scene, we've seen how the devs can handle an outdoor romantic event despite all the years of idiots going off about "Cloud fucked Tifa on some rocks hurpaderp" so I expect we'll get some tasteful avoidance angles of long grasses and clasped hands, but more than enough to imply Cloud and Tifa convey their feelings without words 🤭

ff1: garland does it, if you lose to him and pay attention he is right there doing the dance

ff2: maria and guy met thru fortnite

ff3: actually idk anything about this game

ff4: rydia does it but just after the time skip cause she was too traumatized before, edge does shadow clone jutsu to so he can dance with clones and its sick, palom  and porom dance of course too

ff5: faris almost kills bartz after he dances right in front of him

ff6: realm and locke does it, gogo mimics of course, they teach gau and terra is very eager to learn it

Squeenix Round-Up

Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Listen, I don’t really care for FF7, but if they manage to maintain what they’ve shown upon release this game’s gonna be sweet as hell. The combat system is built around real-time combat filling up two bars which then allow you to use items and spells in bullet-time. The dynamic angles on the boss battles are also incredible to watch. I’m... no longer doubting why it’s taking so long to put out. Also Tifa looks amazing THANK YOU FOR GIVING HER A SPORTS BRA AND BEING REALISTIC ABOUT THE TIDDIES.

Life Is Strange 2: It looks sad and compelling, like the first one. But with less gay probably since it’s about brothers? And psychic powers. Most importantly, there’s a puppy! (lol)

Crystal Chronicles Remasters: Fuck. Yes. I’M GOING TOPLAY THE SHIT OUT OF THIS. I can’t believe they voice acted it-- they made the top hat guy sound too hot, I’m suing. 

Octopath Traveler: A... steam port? I don’t know why this was here.

The Last Remnant Remastered: Looks cool!

Dragon Quest Builders 2: I don’t know if cooking was in the first game, but it’s sure making me want to buy this one. I love my demon partner who is definitely the demon lord and not just schmuck who lost his memory. 

Dragon Quest 11 S: Switch port. Options to play with the 3D graphics or pixeled.

Indies @ Square:

Circuit Superstars: A top-down racing game. It looks cute, but nothing wild.

Batallion 1944: It’s Counterstrike. 

Squeenix put their music on a bunch of streaming services, which is nice.

Kingdom Hearts 3: Re-Mind DLC, which I’m assuming has to do with... people getting their memories back, or exploring some past stuff.

FF14 Shadowbringers: It looks cool, but I don’t think they brought up anything mechanically new. I really think it’s charming how everyone loves Yoshi-P. It kind of makes me want to play, lol. 

Dying Light 2: Still Dying Light. Before they revealed the name I thought it was some weird interpretation of Phantom of the Opera. I remain disappointed.

Romancing Saga 3 & SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions: Remakes that are being localized for the first time. I’m glad--that’s really cool.

Final Fantasy War of the Visions: Based on the lore from Brave Exvius. The beginning I seriously thought it was FF: Three Houses lol. But regardless, I like the different countries. And I want to make that obviously evil priest kneel before me, ahaHAHAHA. Seeing as it’s a mobile game pulled from BE, I have serious worries about the gatcha system they’re going to implement. The rates in BE are fucking atrocious, and I can’t imagine WotV won’t be pay to win. If it’s like Tales of the Rays, I’ll accept it. But I doubt Squeenix would be that nice.

Outriders: A “dark modern shooter”. So... like... every shooter. I don’t see what sets this apart from the millions of other shooters yet. But they implied you could make your own character so I’m not writing it off yet. 

Oninaki: Destroy the lingering angered/sad spirits of those who are trying to move on. Your character apparently “prizes life above all else” despite murdering lots of things, so I feel the basic JRPG conceit of “the people in power are evil” coming up. I want to smooch a ghost though. Let me have this.

Final Fantasy 8 Remastered: Good for her~

Avengers: I... don’t like this? I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m not a comics/Marvel/superhero person. But it feels kind of shoddy. Also maybe a hot take, but while I love all the VAs they showed off, I feel like they chose them just for name recognition and not because they fit the character. They don’t really fit the characters--they also look like an off-brand Avengers. Which I mean sure, it’s another timeline or whatever. They don’t have to look the same. But it seems like a weird choice right after this movie came out, and the models are juuust close enough to bear a resemblance. This is also the one part of the show where I felt like Squeenix put plants in the audience too. The excitement sounded... unnatural. But, free DLC and no lootboxes is a good thing.

Homemade Reese’s

Mmmm these are so good! This is the second batch of em I made, changing things up after the first batch I made a couple weeks ago and I’m really happy with how they turned out.

The first time I followed a recipe online and they were good but a little too sweet. It was like 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to 1/2 cup of peanut butter. There wasn’t a whole lot of peanut butter flavor to em when they were finished. On the flip side, they were really easy to form and dip in chocolate, as all that dry sugar held its form well.

This time around I went with 1 1/2 cups of sugar and to about 1 cup of peanut butter. I was thinking of going 1:1 but that was just wayyyy too thin, almost like uncooked cake batter, so I added more sugar. It ended up being much more difficult to work with, even losing one or two in the melted chocolate that I didnt pull out quick enough (they melted and became one with the chocolate). But in the end, I’d say it was worth the extra effort as they ended up tasting really good. I’m tempted to try adding rice crispies or maybe crunchy peanut butter when I make another batch and see how those turn out.

In FFXI news, Ive gotten through the original game’s storyline. It’s very short with only like a dozen missions (although there’s seperate missions per city up to a point where they all join up in Jeuno) and the story is so boiler plate. Evil baddie is out to do bad things, you stop em. Turns out evil baddie was actually a good guy turned evil and you help redeem him. The end. But of course there’s more to it, but that’s all left for the xpacs.

To its credit, that’s more main story than vanilla WoW had. WoW had NO main story. Just disconnected zones with no overarching narrative. Why is Molten Core the end raid (and then subsequently BWL which had no connection, and then Naxx which also had no connection)? What the fuck is UBRS? Why is Stratholme endlessly burning? None of its connected, it’s just stuff to do as you progress with self-contained stories of their own. 

Anywho, I’m still enjoying FFXI, quite a lot actually. I suppose that goes to show how crappy of a UI and how grindy of a game I’m willing to put up with if I can do it solo. Though saying that, I dunno if that’s really entirely the case. Nostalgia obviously plays a big part of me sticking with it. If some random Korean grindfest mmo was all like, “You can totally solo our game too!” I dunno if I would, cause I’d have no pre-existing attachment to it. Maybe if it has good hairstyles, though! ;P

Seriously though, if FF14 had this kind of soloing (or had introduced the Dancer class ; ;) I’d still be playing that. I like FF14 quite a bit, I just don’t feel like doing group-based content. Let me be anti-social in my mmos, dammit!

That or give me Tifa’s hairstyle. Instant resub and xpac purchase if you give me that, not even kidding.
