Locker Room (Haikyuu!!)
Primary Universe: Second Year
Summary: Hinata surprises Kageyama before a game in the setter's favorite way.
A/N: What can I say? I LOVE lee!Kageyama! It's been forever since I've written for Haikyuu and I was feeling it! Hope you enjoy this entirely self-indulgent fic. 💖
Word Count: 1956
**THIS FIC IS SPOILER FREE!**
~~~
Kageyama hadn’t necessarily meant to still be here lying on the floor with his legs propped up on the locker room bench thirty minutes after lying down, but here he was, absentmindedly scrolling through his phone.
He’d had good reason for elevating his feet – he’d eaten too much at lunch and didn’t want to be sick before the game later this afternoon, so he’d done what he had to do to feel better and be ready. Really, he’d been good to go after just ten minutes or so, but he’d pulled out his phone to pass the time and, well…now he barely registered that his back was beginning to hurt.
He was so caught up in his scrolling, in fact, that he didn’t even notice the wild orange-haired boy who walked into the locker room until he felt pressure on his legs and looked up, startled.
Hinata smirked down at him. “Hey, Kageyama.”
The setter frowned. “What are you doing?”
The smaller boy shrugged nonchalantly, as though he weren’t currently straddling his teammate’s legs with his own feet braced on either side of Kageyama’s hips. He leaned back a little like he was settling in and said, “Tickling you, of course.”
Kageyama yelped before he’d even fully processed the words, the feeling of Hinata’s fingers skittering up and down his bare soles sending him into a giggle fit he couldn’t have stopped if he’d wanted to.
“W-Wahahahahait! Nohohohohoho!”
“Aww, a little ticklish, Kageyama?” Hinata teased, grinning triumphantly when his friend tossed his phone aside and clutched the fabric of his jersey, desperately trying to ground himself on something.
“Ehehehehehehe! You ihihihihihidiot! Dohohohohohohon’t!”
“If you really wanted me to stop, you’d be saying ‘volleyball.’”
Kageyama blushed all the way down to his neck, snickering helplessly on the floor of the locker room, trying in vain to wiggle his legs out from under Hinata’s backside. Failing that, he tried to cross one foot over the other in rapid succession to keep his friend’s fingers away from his ticklish spots, but it was all useless and the both of them knew it.
“Hey, give me your phone,” Hinata said suddenly, still smiling down knowingly at the setter.
Kageyama glanced at the phone lying next to him, then up at Hinata. “Whahahahahat for?”
“Just do it. Unless you want me to tickle you here~” The smaller boy glanced over his shoulder to get a better look as he aimed for Kageyama’s toes, and the ravenette shrieked before frantically grasping his device and holding it up shakily.
“Okahahahahay, okay, hehehehehehehere!” he cried, and his friend plucked the phone from his wobbly grip.
Still using one hand to tickle Kageyama’s feet as best he could, Hinata easily navigated to what he was looking for – the phone had been unlocked thanks to very recent use – and held up the device with the camera pointed at the setter. “Smile!”
“Whahahahahaha?!” Kageyama squealed, covering up his face with one hand and holding the other out as if it would stop him at all. “Dohohohohon’t tahahahahahahake a picture of mehehehehe now!”
“I’m not,” Hinata said, sounding way too pleased with himself.
“Then whahahahahahat—?!”
The redhead suddenly darted up to his toes again, managing to slip a finger between his first and second toes and wiggling mercilessly. “I’m taking a video!”
“What?! Nohohohohohohoho!” Kageyama pleaded, using both arms to cover his face now, though surprisingly not freaked out at the prospect. “Dohohohohohon’t do that, Hinatahahahahaha!”
“Whaaaaat? I want you to see how cute you look when you’re being tickled! It’s unfair that the rest of us get to see it and you don’t.”
“Stohohohohohop fihihihihihilming mehehehehehehehe!”
Hinata chuckled, then quickly abandoned his friend’s feet in favor of squeezing his kneecap, forcing Kageyama’s arms to fly down protectively and reveal his wide smile and flushed cheeks. “There we go. Much better!”
“Hinahahahahahahata!”
After a few more moments, Hinata tapped the screen, set the phone next to him on the bench, and used both hands to squeeze and scribble along both of his teammate’s kneecaps at once.
“Gahahahahahahaha nohohohohohohoho!” Kageyama shrieked, his efforts to escape ramping up as he tossed his upper body back and forth. “Plehehehehehehease, not thehehehehehehere!”
“Oh, yes, I remember,” Hinata said in that teasing register that drove him all the way up the wall and onto the ceiling. “You’re really ticklish riiiiight here, aren’t you?”
Kageyama tossed his head back and burst into laughter when Hinata wormed his way to his knee pits, pinching and squeezing and scribbling in rapid succession.
“Ehehehehehahahahahahahaha! Plehehehehehehehease, Hinata!”
“Tickle, tickle, tickle, ticklish Kageyama!”
The setter squealed and squirmed on the ground, laughing helplessly but enjoying every second of it, his face bright pink and his smile splitting his face. He halfheartedly begged Hinata to stop, but his friend knew better. Finally, however, the first snort slipped free of him and he clamped one hand over his mouth in mortification before pleading in earnest.
“Plehehehehehease, stahahahahahap it, Hinata! No mohohohohohore!” He arched his back and very nearly screamed when the redhead teasingly raked down his thighs and back up again. “Shit, dohohohohohohohon’t do thahahahahahahat!”
Hinata giggled along with him. “Language~”
“I’ll shohohohohohow you lahahahahahanguage – AIEEEEE!!” Suddenly he was up, a frantic desire to escape his friend’s fingers digging ruthlessly into the soft undersides of his knees making him strong enough to clamp onto one of Hinata’s wrists for a split second.
Just for a second, though. Shoyo Hinata was nothing if not speedy, and he used that speed to his advantage now to quickly grab onto Kageyama’s wrists, jump off the bench, and move behind him to pin his arms above his head. There was just enough space for him to fit between Kageyama’s hair and the lockers behind him, but Hinata made the best use of it. He crossed his friend’s arms and then knelt on them as gently as possible, effectively trapping the setter without hurting him.
Kageyama was still giggling as he looked up at his best friend, eyes bright with panicked excitement. “H-Hinata, wahahahahait…”
“Mmm? Wait for what?”
“I…I don’t know, just…just wait a minute!”
“Fine. I guess I can give you a breather.” Hinata grinned mischievously down at him, reaching forward to grasp the hem of his friend’s jersey and slowly, sloooowly drag it up his body to expose his bare skin to what was coming next.
Kageyama’s breath caught. He whimpered. “W-Wait, please!”
“I’m not tickling you yet,” Hinata giggled. “But I will, juuuust as soon as this is out of my way.”
The jersey continued to ride up, exposing his tummy, his bottom ribs, his chest. Kageyama found that he couldn’t stop giggling in anticipation to save his life. So much for a breather!
“There!” Hinata declared, making a huge show of cracking his knuckles and wiggling his fingers, forming claws that hovered over his friend’s torso teasingly. “Are you ready now?”
“No!” Kageyama blushed at the crack in his voice, then squeezed his eyes shut as Hinata began to lower the claws with their wiggling fingers toward his most ticklish spot. “Nonono, plehehehehease, Hinata! Mehehehehercy!”
“I still don’t hear you saying ‘volleyball~’”
To the setter’s surprise, Hinata didn’t dig in right away as he’d expected. Instead, a soft, featherlight touch brushed along his stomach, making him gasp and giggle in delight, squirming on the floor as his friend teased, “Aww, you still have such a ticklish tummy, don’t you, Kageyama?”
“Shuhuhuhuhut up!”
“Never. Tickle, tickle, tickle!” Hinata giggled in tandem with his best friend, obviously enjoying the reactions he was getting. “Where do you think you’re going, hmm? Can’t get away from me when you’re stuck like this, ticklish Kageyama~”
“Plehehehehehease, shut up, Hinatahahahahaha!”
Hinata laughed. “You want me to stop talking? All right. But you’re going to have to make up the difference.”
Then the fingers were in his bottom ribs above his stomach, digging into the spot that made him lose what was left of his control, and Kageyama arched his back with a shriek loud enough to make Hinata wince in the confined space even as he kept tickling.
“GAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHO!! NOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE, HINATA, PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!!”
Hinata’s only reply at this point was more teasing. “Tickle, tickle, tickle! Look how red you are! This must really tickle, huh, Kageyama? Ticklish Kageyama, who just loves being tickled sooooo much?”
“I HAHAHAHAHAHAHATE YOU, BOHOHOHOHOHOKE!!”
“No you don’t.”
“PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE, NOT THAHAHAHAHAHT SPOT!! MOHOHOHOHOVE SOMEWHERE EHEHEHEHEHEHELSE!!”
“Hmm…nope! I wanna stay riiiiight here. Riiiiight were it tickles you the most. Just until you can’t take it anymore and say the magic word~”
Kageyama surrendered himself to the ticklish sensations wracking his body, lighting every nerve on fire, drawing loud laughter and snorts and pleading to his lips without him even entirely realizing it. He loved this, loved being tickled by his best friend, but it was getting so ticklish and he didn’t know how much longer he could hold out.
“HINATA PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE STAHAHAHAHAHAP!! IT TIHIHIHIHICKLES!!”
“Aww, that’s the point, ticklish Kageyama!”
“STAHAHAHAHAHAP CAHAHAHAHALLING ME THAHAHAHAHAHAT!!”
Hinata giggled. “Yeah? What are you gonna do to stop me, hmm? Can’t do anything about it as long as you’re at my mercy~”
At this last string of teasing, Kageyama dissolved into silent hysterics, wheezing and snorting for a few seconds before suddenly crying, “VOHOHOHOHOHOLLEYBALL!!”
Hinata tickled along the skin of his tummy for a few seconds longer to help wind him down some, then stopped entirely, making no move to get up and let him go yet. He waited patiently for Kageyama to catch his breath and giggle out his leftovers, then reached awkwardly for the phone he’d left on the bench before settling back into his position pinning his friend to the floor.
Kageyama, for his part, didn’t even realize what was happening until the video was already playing in his face, where he couldn’t help but look no matter how he turned his head. His own shriek of laughter echoed back to him, making him blush furiously and demand, “Turn it off! I don’t want to see it!”
“But you’re so cute!” Hinata teased, just as the redhead in the video called him the exact same thing.
Kageyama squeezed his eyes shut and turned his face away, flustered and grinning despite himself. “Stooooop!”
“Heh.” Hinata finally shut the phone off, then wiggled a finger into his teammate’s still exposed armpit for a second. “Too cute.”
“No more! No more, plehehehease!” Kageyama begged, but by the time the words were out, his friend was already climbing off of him, helping him roll over and sit up, braced against the lockers now as he caught his breath.
“Feeling better, Kags?” Hinata asked him innocently, a smirk on his face.
“Shut the hell up, boke,” the setter spat back, but he was still grinning.
The redhead ruffled his hair playfully, then handed him his phone. “It’s on your phone, not mine,” he said, as though the ravenette didn’t already know. “So you can delete it if you want, and I can’t share it. Just wanted you to see what I see when I’m tickling you. I happen to love the view.”
Kageyama locked eyes with him for a second, then relaxed when he saw Hinata was being sincere. “Obviously I’m going to delete it. It’s embarrassing to see myself like that.”
“Do whatever you want,” Hinata replied with a shrug. “I’ll go get you some water. Stay right there.”
After he was gone, Kageyama pulled up the video again, watching it on silent and blushing so hard he felt the burn on his ears, but he couldn’t help but smile at the whole thing anyway. Not for the first time, he was incredibly grateful to have landed a best friend in Shoyo Hinata.
He didn’t delete the video.
Option B, option C | Kageyama Tobio & Hinata Shouyou
Tumblr media
A/N: another commission finished for always amazing and angelic Max (@wertzunge)! Thank you as always, Max ❤️ I hope you enjoy this and I hope they're not too ooc skdkkdf
Summary: Kageyama can't toss?! It's all that test's fault!
Words: 1k+
Tumblr media
“Ka. Ge. Ya. Ma! What the hell is wrong with you?!”
Kageyama tried to ignore the heat gathering on his cheeks. That was what he'd like to know! Why was he so distracted? Could it be because of that exam he had earlier? No, that can't be- he thought he did very well, but maybe he should have chosen option b, right? Yes. Yes, dammit, he should've chosen option b! It made more sense than c! He was going to fail that test, he definitely was going to-
“Ba. Ka. Ge. Ya. Maaaaaa!” Kageyama hissed when he felt a harsh slap on his back. He quickly grabbed the culprit’s skull and squeezed it. “Ouch! Ouch! Aaaaaah! Let go! It's not my fault you're sucking today- Aaaaaah!”
Kageyama felt the blush spreading to his ears. Stupid Hinata was so annoying… but he was not wrong. Kageyama’s tosses had been bad– no, bad was an understatement, they have been hideous. Hinata hasn't been able to hit the ball not even once. Too low, too high. Too short, too long. Simply not right!
“It's your damn fault! You should be there wherever I toss! Why can't you do that?!”
“HUH?! Are you blaming me?! How's this my fault?! You are the one-”
“Let's take a break, everyone!” Daichi called. “This is going to take a while.”
The rest of the team moved to the sides of the court, some happy to rest after the heavy training, some others mocking the duo starting their usual bickering, but regardless of that, Kageyama and Hinata no longer had ears for anyone else. They started yelling at each other (perhaps too loudly for Daichi's liking), blaming each other for the situation, even when Kageyama knew perfectly well that the only one to blame was himself, but admitting his mistakes had always been difficult, especially when Hinata was the one who noticed Kageyama was not doing right.
Their little shouting fight soon escalated into a physical fight, not actually punches, Kageyama knew well enough that Daichi wouldn't let him get in the gym for who knows how many weeks if he dared to hit Hinata. So they would just pull each other's shirts and try to take each other down in some kind of wrestling.
“Kageyama! You're gonna get us in trouble! You can't even toss the ball properly and now you're trying to kill me!”
“Hinata-boke!” Kageyama gasped, gripping Hinata's shoulders. “You. Only. Have. To. Hit- why are you laughing?!”
With every word, Kageyama poked Hinata's chest and after two pokes on his collarbone, Hinata started to giggle, trying to grab Kageyama’s hand.
“Thahat tihickles!”
“What?!”
Kageyama blinked in disbelief. Look at him, giggling like a kid with no worries in the world, huh? How pathetic and- wait. A malicious grin suddenly spread across his face and Hinata jumped. He certainly couldn't hit Hinata, but tickling him? Well…
“Ba-B-Bakageyama, nohoho! Nohohot tihihickling!”
Kageyama was able to finally pin Hinata down against the squeaky wooden floor, his fingers digging into Hinata's sides, making him whine in pain, but Kageyama quickly lightened his touch and the bright giggles echoed through the whole gym. Hinata kicked and tried to crawl away, but Kageyama had set himself on top of him and was tickling him on every spot he could reach.
He poked at his ribs and squeezed at his sides and when he noticed that Hinata's giggling turned more frantic whenever Kageyama touched his tummy, he made sure to claw at the muscles and even dip his finger into his belly button.
He really had no experience tickling people, but he had an older sister who could sometimes be a handful, so he definitely knew a trick or two.
“Lehehet gohoho!” Hinata giggled, wrapping his arms around himself. “Thihihis is nohot fahahair!”
“Maybe this'll teach you not to say anything to m- ack!” One of his arms retracted, gluing to his side when he felt a squeeze to his waist. “Don't you- aaah!” Another squeeze to the other side of his waist made him curl forward a little and Hinata took the chance to change their positions.
Kageyama panicked and he tried to free himself from under Hinata, after all, he was taller, but when he felt fingers clawing on his stomach, he was a goner. He had always been very sensitive there and he hated that it was a spot so easy to get. He tried to hold his laughter in, but Hinata's fingers were light and so ticklish, he only lasted about two seconds before he started cackling.
“S-Stohohop, Hinahahata! I'll kihill you!”
“What? I thought you wanted to get tickled too, Kageyama-kun~ ack! N-No! Nohoho!”
Both Kageyama’s hands latched to Hinata's sides and he started tickling him back, his hands trembling, begging for him to stop the tickling at his tummy, but he refused and soon they were engaged in an intense tickle fight, rolling around, getting the upper hand only for a few seconds before being thrown off again.
“Ah, seriously, will they ever stop?”
“Calm down, Daichi,” Suga said softly, patting Daichi on the shoulder. “They've been at it for like ten minutes, we still have some more time left.”
“They're childish, we're waiting time here,” Tsukishima rolled his eyes.
Yamaguchi chucked, “although they're screaming at each other, they seem to be having fun.”
“YES IT LOOKS FUN I WANT TO JOIN!”
“N-Noya, calm down.”
“I WANT TO JOIN TOO!”
“Tanaka, Nishinoya. Don't you even think about it,” Ennoshita warned and both boys slumped back in place, whining.
No matter how loudly they spoke, Kageyama and Hinata were in their own world. Kageyama's laughter had been echoing in everyone's ears for a long time, Hinata had Kageyama's hands under his knees and the poor setter was bursting into loud laughter while his poor armpits hot tickled out of his mind.
“Hi-n-naha- waha-AHAHA!” He tried to speak, but his laughter just wouldn't let him. His body had grown weak and he couldn't pull his hands free, but Hinata's were nestling nicely under Kageyama’s arms, fingers wiggling and digging into the muscle.
“Do you surrender, Kageyama?!”
“He will surrender,” Yamaguchi said.
Tanaka, “nah, he'll turn the tables on Hinata.”
“His face is too pink,” Suga said, a tad worried. “Should we help?”
Tsukishima, “helping will only be more troublesome.”
“Daichi-san is about to lose it,” Nishinoya laughed.
Yamaguchi, “he will surrender.”
“Isn't it super weird that Kageyama's so ticklish?” Asahi asked and all nodded in agreement.
Kageyama really was ticklish and his armpits were, probably, his most sensitive spot. Hinata had been tickling him there for a while now, he really couldn't stand it anymore. The more the tickling continued, the more his laughter got louder and panicked, would the tickling ever stop?
“FIHIHINE!”
“I told you!”
“Aish, good thing we didn't bet on it.”
“OH! Are you giving up?! Are you giving up?! Pr-Promise you won't get me back when I stop!” Hinata pushed and Kageyama threw his head, nodding as he laughed hysterically. “O-Okay!”
He stopped and Kageyama went limp, breathing heavily and pressing his arms against his side, wanting to protect himself from a surprise attack, but Hinata didn't tickle him again, he got up and sat beside him, also breathing heavily as if he was the one almost dying.
Kageyama hated to admit it, but that residual sensation of tiredness felt kinda good. He was exhausted, but revitalized and energized at the same time. His brain was buzzing and his head was pulsating, but he wasn't thinking about anything. His mind was empty of thoughts causing him stress and anxiety and he felt good, relaxed.
Suga, “d-do you think he's alright?”
“I wonder,” Daichi said, starting to get worried. “He hasn't moved much, huh?”
Nishinoya, “oi, Shouyou! Did you kill Kageyama?”
“Haah? I didn't! He's breathing… I think?” When Kageyama opened his eyes, he found Hinata's face, looking at him from above. “Are you okay, Kageyama?”
Kageyama rolled his eyes, “I'm fine. Just tired, stupid!”
“Hey, Bakageyama,” Hinata said, extending his hand for Kageyama to take. “It's okay, you know? I'm sure you'll do well on that exam.”
Kageyama halted, gripping Hinata's hand. “W-What? How- How do you know?!”
“You kept mumbling to yourself all the way to the gym about option b this and option c that,” Hinata explained, matter of factly. “It’s obviously option c! That test was super easy, so just relax and play well! This training is so boring because you're not tossing properly!”
“You-! Haah,” Kageyama sighed.
Noya, “the heck are they talking about, Ryuu?”
“Hmm, probably about fighting again? Oh, Kageyama is getting up now.”
“Let's train,” Kageyama said, nodding at Hinata. “I'll toss properly this time.”
“Whooooaaaa!”
“Okay, seems like the break is over, finally. Let's go, everyone.”
“OSU!”
Kageyama wasn't so sure what just had happened, it really had been a strange training, but he was glad he could shake off that feeling of anxiety over his test- he really owned Hinata this time, huh? Well, some high tosses for him would be enough!
A Warmer Place
⚠️ warning(s): this is a tickle fic! ⚠️
————————————————————————
~ lee!Kageyama ler!Hinata
“Hurry up and open the door! It’s freezing out here!” Kageyama yelled while Hinata slightly struggled to unlock the front door due to the cold.
Kageyama and Hinata went to buy some groceries at the new supermarket that had just opened near their house. The weather seemed like it was about to snow any minute so they quickly hurried home.
“Ok, ok Kageyama!” *click* “There it’s opened!” Hinata said, pulling out his keys from the keyhole and opened the door. Kageyama rushes in and drops the groceries bags on the kitchen table. He then takes off his shoes while Hinata puts the his grocery bags on the same table as well.
“Brrr, good thing it’s warmer in here, but its not warm enough. I’ll go turn on the heater.” Kageyama proceeded to put his shoes away and made his way to the remote control that controlled the heaters and turned it on. “Ahhh, thats better..” Kageyama sighed, placing his hands above the heaters, feeling the heat thats being released into the room.
“Was it really that cold for you outside? Maybe you just didn’t wear enough layers.” Hinata said, taking out the groceries and stored them away whole dumping all the snacks in the basket in the living room.
“Excuse me, but I wore 4 layers, thank you.” Kageyama said with an eye roll, finally taking off his jacket and hanged it on the coat rack. Hinata pulls his gloves off of his hands and cups them together.
“Wow, my hands are colder than I thought, maybe it really was freezing outside.” Hinata said, making his way towards Kageyama, who went back to the heaters. “Hey, I bet it’s warm in here!” Hinata slides both his hands into the sweater that Kageyama was wearing.
“Wha—! W-what are you doing!? Your hands are cold!” Kageyama screamed, turning around and trying to get Hinatas icy hands out.
“I knew it, it is warm in here!” Hinata said, moving his hands around Kageyamas warm stomach.
“Stop that! It tihickles, idiot!” Kageyama tried to pull on Hinatas hands, but wasn’t very successful. Kageyama continues to squirm around like a little worm that got poked.
“Oh, it tickles? Does this tickle then?” Hinata spidered his fingers around Kageyamas stomach, making him squirm even more than he was already doing before.
“YAHahaha! Of cohourse it tiHIhickles! Now stahahap!” Kageyama squealed, trying to cover his stomach by wrapping his arms around his torso.
“Hehe, what about here?” Hinata switched to Kageyamas sides and wiggled his fingers up and down.
“STAHAHAHAP NOO!! NOT THEHEHERE!” Kageyama cackled, collapsing onto the floor.
“Ok ok I’ll stop now, my hands are warm, thanks Kageyama!” Hinata slid his hands out of Kageyamas sweater and helped him up from the floor.
“Y-you—! Don’t do that again.” Kageyama said, catching his breath while giving the orange head a glare.
“Sorry, Kageyama, lets go make dinner.” Hinata said, bringing Kageyama to the kitchen to cook some food.
tkltober day 2: Accidental
Haikyuu!! - ler!Yachi, lee!Kageyama
¸¸♬·¯·♩¸¸♪·¯·♫¸¸¸¸♫·¯·♪¸¸♩·¯·♬¸¸
Yachi was no stranger to awkwardness. It was one of the feelings she was most used to, in fact, but for some reason she had hoped it would be different this time. Although it was probably normal for things to be awkward when you had just entered a relationship and were trying to cuddle with your boyfriend… right?
“Uhm, is this okay?” Kageyama asked as he changed the way he held her for the seventh time within two minutes.
“Oh, uh, yeah, that’s alright.” She shifted around a little. “I-is this okay? Am I too heavy?”
“No, nonono, not at all, uh… yeah, no.”
Yachi could tell by the slight tremble in his hands alone just how nervous Kageyama was, but she was really not in the position to judge him right now. Well, not that she would have if she had been, but… she decided to just stop thinking about it and instead carefully curled her fingers into Kageyama’s sides to try and reduce her own trembling a bit.
What she didn’t expect was the flinch that suddenly went through the Setter’s body and when she looked up at him, his face was flushed bright red. “Sorry- did that hurt?”
“No, uh, it just, uh, tickled a bit, it’s alright.”
“Oh, sorry.” And with that, she could’ve moved on, but for some reason… she didn’t want to. Kageyama Tobio? Ticklish? That was at least a little bit cute.
“Ah- Yahachi, whahat ahare you-”
“Just trying a few things.” She softly pinched his skin where his shirt had ridden up and a squeak slipped past his lips. Yachi felt the color rise in her cheeks. Adorable. “I didn’t know you were so ticklish.”
“Ihi mehean I dohon’t usuahally tehell peheople- Yahahachi!”
The manager watched in awe as Kageyama threw his head back, letting out a stream of giggles that was amongst her top three favorite sounds in the whole world as of now. It felt a little out of character, but then again, it was probably a good sign that he was comfortable enough around her to show this side of himself. And he hadn’t told her to stop yet… Yachi carefully moved her fingers onto his stomach and couldn’t hold back a smile at the soft squeal Kageyama let out.
“Yahachi, ihit tihickles-”
“That’s kind of the point.” She giggled a little alongside him, then scowled at him playfully when he put a hand in front of his face. “Hey, I can’t see your smile like that!” Deciding to be a little bold, she carefully wiggled one single finger into his belly button.
“GHAHA- Hitohokahahaha!” Kageyama’s hands shot down to grab her wrists and she immediately stopped, only really realizing what he had just said as she watched him calm down.
Yachi felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest. “You… called me Hitoka.”
“Huh? Oh… yeah.” Even though it hadn’t been the first time, they both blushed a little at that and Kageyama softly cleared his throat. “I hope that, uh, was… okay?”
Yachi couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face and when she leaned against him and his arms wrapped around her almost instinctively, everything about it felt just right.
“Of course, Tobio.”
A Successful Hunt
Kanene’s notes: I just wanted to write some more of Shigeo and Ritsu being silly kids dfghjjhgfd. I am in a hurry rn so maybe some parts will be confusing, hope it’s still an enjoyable story tho. Thanks for your attention! I will be proofreading and posting it on AO3 later ^.^
Warnings: There is raspberries, nibbles and lots of mentions of ants and spiders in the beginning. Switch!Ritsu and Switch!Shigeo. Both Shigeo and Ritsu are small kids here. Around 1.000 words.
[~*~]
The door opens slowly, with a silent, almost inaudible screech.
The spider looks at the distracted prey. It’s an ant. Hardworking, organized, careful. Usually too much difficult to catch with a lowered guard, but today it is way too unaware of anything beyond the leaves on its clutch to realize the slow creep of the predator in its direction.
That is good, the spider internally celebrates. It has been watching the ant for days now (or maybe a few minutes, time doesn’t matter when you’re a spider) just waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And the perfect moment arrived.
This will be a successful hunt. The spider can feel it, no sound following its steps as it gets closer and closer to its target. Today it will be able to have a big feast. A good meal. A fulfilling banquet.
Just a few meters and then the hunt will succeed.
The spider hides itself next to a crafty piece of wood, crouching, articulations bended and lightly wiggling its butt to prepare for one and only jump that will close the last half meter of distance between the arachnid and the arthropod and bring a sweet victory to the older one.
One of the hunter’s legs hit a rock on the crafty wood by mistake, bringing it to the ground with a sharp, loud clattering that echoes in the entire universe.
The ant’s head immediately turns to look at him.
The cover has been blown! It needed to be now! The spider jumps, landing on the soft cushion with a quiet ‘oof’ barely letting itself recover before quickly scrambling to pin the other to the comfy ground when it tries to run away with a characteristic high pitched squeak.
“Nonono! Not again! That is not fair, nii-san I was studying. Don’t!!”
The spider mouth opens, merciless, inescapable, inevitable. A perfect mirror of the cycle of life. Just one more move for a successful hunt. His head comes down, touching the vulnerable skin and-
“PTTBTBBHBTBHTBHPT”
Loud laughter fills the entire room. Ritsu tries to push his head away, legs kicking madly and body shaking with the force of his surprised laughter as his older brother refused to leave his stomach alone, smaller - but still equally deadly - raspberries following the first one, spreading across his sides and almost edging the spots right below his lowest ribs.
For a second all his brain could do was only blue screen, embarrassing high and uncontrolled giggles spilling non stop from his lips as his limbs trashed around without any purpose or coordination to protect himself from the surprise tickly attack that abruptly interrupted his homework.
He didn’t even do anything this time!
A curious nibble hit his rib.
“NO!” The shorter and younger Kageyama (his mom said that if Ritsu kept drinking milk and eating all his vegetables he would grow taller than Shigeo. His dad promised he would help him to style his hair with gel to give him a few more inches if her plan didn’t work) didn’t know that the tickles could get even tickler, however sudden snorts and crackles began to happily chase his laughter, more and more nibbles coming to attack all across his ribs, more enthusiastic and energetic, as if powered by the reactions they got. “Niihihihihisan you cahahahahan’t! PleheheheasEEK!”
Shigeo hummed proudly at his accomplishment, not realizing how such simple action lead to a sea of electric ticklish shocks to run across his sibling’s torso, but stopping the nibbles and raspberries anyway when the babbles of his brother became too incoherent and his hands tried once again to push his head away, a few fingers tugging at his hair painfully before he carefully untangled then.
(It was fine. Ritsu was his little brother. A little kid. And little kids don't know how to control their strength well. He could never get angry at his bro because of that.)
He smiled at Ritsu, proud for being a successful hunter and content with the mirth shining on his eyes and the big smile that was reflected right back at him.
Before, of course, his brother tried to hide it with a half-protesting pout that barely hid the way the cornerss of his mouth were still turned upwards.
“Nii-san! I was doing my homework, you can’t just interrupt me like that. Now I will have to start it all over again.”
Shigeo’s eyes widened, his smile disappearing and gaze focusing in all the notebooks that had been thrown around the futon with the ruckus, only now realizing what was happening when he was too caught on playing pretend to notice.
“I am sorry, Ritsu.” His shoulders came to his ears, ashamed. Ristu felt his own scolding pout lose its form. “I just came here becau-”
“REVENGE!”
His shout cut the older words, eyes becoming wide again, reactions too slow to stop Ritsu’s hands when they shot to grab his ankle, pulling at it so abruptly that it broke Shigeo’s balance, making him fall on the bed with another quiet ‘oof’. A half squeak and half surprised gasp being fished from his throat when fingers began running clumsily on his sole.
“R-Ritsu!” huffs and puffs began breaking free from his mouth, snickers, chuckles and snorts that made him hug his shoulders with how much they were bouncing with a joyful energy falling like a stream and dancing in the air. “Ehehehe!”
“I got you.” The younger one only felt the mischief expand in his chest when he began scratching the arch of the feet, letting his fingers concentrate there for a few seconds before getting bored and chasing the jumpy, giggly ‘eeep’s that appeared every time he slipped to scribble his fingers under his toes. “You need to pay more attention, nii-san! Or everyone will be tickling you all the time and you won’t even notice before it’s too late.” He huffed.
“B-but I like it!” Shigeo answered, amidst giggles, cheeks puffed and red spreading across his face as his laughter grew louder.
“Hm...” Ritsu thought a bit, changing to attack his knees when too many hiccups began taking over the air. Yelps jumped at every squeeze that was delivered to the new targeted tickle spot. “Then I will stop them if they tickle you too much!”
His voice was determined.
“Ohohohokay.” Shigeo felt his smile get bigger, looking at his little brother for a second before coming to a decision. He nodded. “Aahahand then I can t-tickle them too!”
Suddenly sitting, he hugged Ritsu, almost making them both fall on the bed when the younger yelped at the sudden movement and wobbly tried to squirm away, more laughter already painting his protests even before hands started drumming on his armpits.
“No more revenge! No more revehehehehe!” But still, he tried to control himself to not trash too much and hurt Shigeo.
In the end, he and his brother were very much alike.
More high pitched squeals. Both Ritsu’s uncontrollable loud laughter and Shigeo’s remanent huffed giggles filled the entire room in a playful, silly manner.
But Ritsu had a secret move. One that would guarantee his victory and buy himself time before he could make the perfect plan to get Shigeo back.
He resorted to the highest one in the hierarchy.
“MOHOHOHOM! NII-SAN IHIHIHIS TICKLING MEEK!”
Shigeo gasped, a mix of surprise and betrayal, tickling coming to a stop as both of them tried to not fall back in a mess of titters, waiting for the answering shout of their monarch.
“YOU TWO STOP PLAYING AND COME GET YOUR SNACK BEFORE IT GETS COLD! SHIGEO, I ASKED YOU TO GO GET YOUR BROTHER, NOT START FOOLING AROUND.”
The shout was a mix of fondness and exasperation that only mothers could make. They got up, legs wobbly and left over snickers yet following their every move.
Shigeo squeaked when a finger poked his side, turning around just in time to see Ritsu smiling at him before running away through the door, a “Coming, mom!” being left behind.
Shigeo blinked twice before realizing what was happening and quickly - and still clumsily - following his brother, trying to be careful to not hit the walls with the sharp turns and squeaky floorboards.
The spider and the ant raced to the kitchen.
pedicures
(cw: feet, a little gross)
kags’ meticulous nail habits only apply to his fingertips. keeping his toe nails trimmed isnt on the top of his priorities. as long as his feet fit in his sneakers, he’s fine. he forgets most of the time cuz he’s always wearing socks.
he doesnt think anything of it until the first summer that he and tsuki are living tgt.
tsuki sees kags’ bare feet for the first time and demands he cuts his nails. once that’s done he drags kags to a salon to get a pedicure.
this is also how tsuki discovers kags is very ticklish. kags does a good job of keeping still and tries his best to be quiet cuz tsuki is talking to the nail tech but he lets out a laugh every few minutes.
kags’ face is pink from the effort of not laughing or twitching.
tsuki thinks it’s endearing but he’s also fine with not doing it again since kags had a tough time with it.
~~~~
cut to three weeks later and kags pops into tsuki’s office like “pedicures tonight?” and tsuki’s like :0 “yea, if you want to”
kags grins and they make a monthly habit out of getting pedicures together.
bonus: tsuki also takes a chance to ambush kags and pin him to the couch to discover exactly where and how much his bf is ticklish.
when tsuki stops his Vicious Attack, he sees kags all pink faced, looking up at him, breathing heavy, he can’t help but kiss him.
(they get so into making out they fall off the couch and still don’t stop.)

❝THE SMELL OF BLUEBERRY PIE.❞
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🏐 genre: fluff ~~~ ✒️ word count: 1,000 💭 summary: kageyama is a sucker for your pastries, and to have you give him a delicious treat made by you on his special day after school, in front of the rest of the first years... you make him want to melt and squeeze your cheeks out of embarrassment. 🫐 happy birthday to tobio kageyama my son !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
'dammit, i'm hungry,' thought the setter as he walked home with the rest of the first years on the team. kageyama was stuck in his own head, thinking of what to eat as an after school snack this time around. it wasn't that he usually thought about these things too often, rather, he felt like he wanted to change something up about today because... today was his birthday.
he didn't tell anybody on the team, much less hinata, who'd make a big fuss over him finally being the same age as them all and being teased for being the baby of their ensemble. surprisingly, yamaguchi had suggested they all go to this nice little hole in the wall cafe that kageyama frequented often, only when he met you, since your parents owned the place and you worked there part time to help them out.
"hey, kageyama, doesn't your partner work the—" "another word, and i'm gonna slap the orange out of your hair, dumbass hinata." kageyama seethed as he glared down at the short tangerine haired boy, which he understood clearly and backed off, hiding behind yamaguchi and tsukishima, who honestly couldn't be bothered if the two of them began brawling and tearing each others' heads off.
as the group stepped into the cafe, they were greeted by the smells of assorted baked goods, snacks, and drinks... especially the scent of blueberries that wafted in the air. the sound of hurried foosteps and the clanging of assorted pans and pots rang in the kitchen in the back, and out came you, ready to take the customers' orders... your boyfriend's order for tonight.
"a-ah, tobio! and friends... wh-what can i get for you all tonight?" you asked in a sweet voice as you glanced over at kageyama, who caught your gaze at him, making his face flush in embarrassment and shyness and turn away from you, mumbling out he'd take whatever, and you were determined to make that "whatever" he ordered something spectacular for him for his special day.
after you had served the others' orders, you smiled at kageyama and whispered in his ear, "i have a surprise for you tonight, tobio." your whisper sent shivers up his spine, he always got flustered and ticklish by the ears whenever you did that, he kinda wished you'd do more often, though. "a... surprise?" he echoed, confused and a little anxious, but your little giggle and nod reassured him somehow.
after a little while, you came back with a cloche in your hands and revealed your surprise for your dearest: a blueberry pie that was freshly decorated, everything made by hand. it was difficult to make and took you almost two days to piece everything together, but you were more than happy to see how it turned out, even happier at the sight of kageyama's eyes shine while he blushed at the fact you went out of your way to make something so adorable and thoughtful for your little blueberry boy.
hinata and yamaguchi praised your culinary skills, while tsukishima teased kageyama for not being able to look you in the eye because of how flustered he was. "it's rude not to thank someone for a gift. what, is the king too proud to say thank you?" tsukishima jabbed, with kageyama immediately taking your hands in his, and in a loud, shaky voice and with a red face that made him look like a breed between a tomato and blueberry, kageyama thanked you from the bottom of his heart, all his voice coming from the depths of his lungs as he looked you in the eye, so shy and thankful for your gift.
you blinked and chuckled, smiling up at him sweetly. "anything for my tobio, i made it blueberries because... they reminded me of you. i hope you like it, love." you uttered, kissing his cheek, effectively freezing him in place as his face got hotter and he started to look more and more like a tomato because of how much of an effect your kindness and sweetness had on him.
needless to say, kageyama ate up the pie with happily and full of gratitude; hinata was annoyed he only got one serving, begging for you to please make him one for his birthday, with kageyama snapping at him that hinata was too shameless to ask you for such a thing when you went out of your way to make him one he didn't need to ask for. yamaguchi meanwhile praised you after tasting a slice of the pie, trying to mediate the squabble between kageyama and hinata at the same time, while tsukishima listened to music on his headphones and silently enjoyed his slice of pie, nodding in approval.
kageyama leaned over and whispered in your ear, now, while having his toned arm wrapped around your waist a little possessively. "hey... thank you, so much, love, for this. you're too sweet for me, you and this pie, but... you bring the right amount of sweetness in my life, the right amount of sweetness i need to keep going. thank you, love." kageyama awkwardly murmured to you in a low, husky voice, making you smile like a dork and get all bashful and shy, brushing off his compliments as he wrapped his arms around you, burying his face in the crook of your neck, trying to convince you that you're the best partner and pie maker there ever was, not caring if the others stared and made fun of you two, he'd beat them up tomorrow and whip them into shape during practice.
sure, the pie you made him was the most filling treat he's ever had... but you're the only treat with the sweetness he needs to find the goodness of his everyday life, you fill him up with so much love and joy, more than what he knows what to do with, and he couldn't be any more grateful than he is now that he has you, his beloved.

the night shift — slow down
Tumblr media
day 5 | masterlist | day 7
now playing: heart to heart by mac demarco
Tumblr media
"you're late," she hums, with a lilt of tease and jest. she doesn't look up at him. the jingle of the doors opening cues her into fixing her posture, her spine fitting into the shape of her chair. he watches the action but can't quite process it, too overwhelmed with all the sweat and clothes and hair sticking to his skin.
an apology falls from chapped lips instinctively. he slips into the space behind the counter and discards his jacket from his figure, haphazardly throwing it into the break room before taking his usual seat beside her. "practice ran overtime," he heaves out as soon as he settles into his spot. like routine.
it's a slow day. the night shift is busy, for the most part, but there are the rare handful of days where the store is stagnant. they're silent, save for the hums of the heater and the refrigerators and the wind outside the window, and compared to the last shift they'd worked together, it's not so tense. it's light, almost, the burden of unspoken words and misdirected emotions no longer weighing heavily on their shoulders. he basks in it, just for a moment, before she gets up from her chair to busy herself with something, anything to escape the stasis. he follows suit.
restocks are her favorite task, he's noticed. it's her go-to to pass time, when her hands don't know what to do with themselves and her mind runs rampant. the boxes sit beside the snack shelves, the tape sliced open and the flaps lifted, ready to be emptied and organized. his shoulder brushes against hers briefly as he situates himself next to her, leaning into the depths of the first shipment and handing each product to her one by one. they fall into a slow, steady system. he passes. she places.
"remind me why you didn't go pro?" she questions almost a bit too loudly, failing to consider whether or not she's breaching a checkpoint that she isn't meant to pass yet. she notices the stutter in his movements, the flicker of a hitched breath, the avoidant stare. the perspiration still sticks to his forehead from before, evidence of the effort he had been putting into practice moments before clocking in.
kageyama stands, his shoulders rolling back and the bones popping slightly. an inhale through his nose, an exhale through his mouth, and he droops, as if physically bearing the mental baggage of what she presumed to be his passion. "i burned out, i think," he starts. it's barely there, barely audible. "i think i was also just scared. i was becoming someone i didn't recognize, so," he pauses. "i dropped it."
i think, i think, i think, as if he was still unsure in a decision he made years ago. she leans against the shelf with one shoulder, her eyes fixed on his while he fidgets with a bag of candy. "do you regret it?"
"sometimes," he whispers, almost sheepishly. "i do want to seek help for it. yachi recommended therapy, but," he pauses again, placing the candy in his palms into hers. he wills his mind into ignoring the way her hand ghosts over his, but his body can't seem to follow suit, with the ticklish feeling running through his palm and the dusting of pink on the corners of his ears (it's only visible if you look hard enough). the bag is set up neatly on the shelf, in line with all the others of its kind. "id want someone i know to listen to me. someone who actually knows me, not someone who's forced to."
she doesn't ask any more -- she knows not to. her shoes squeak against the tile as she makes her way to the next row, kageyama following behind her with the cart of boxes. they fall back into routine. he passes. she places. again, and again, and again, until it's muscle memory, so much so that they just barely miss the chime of the doors opening.
the pair from across the street -- none other than her two favorite new grounds employees (and his, though he'd never admit that) -- waltz into the building, steaming hot coffees cusped between their gloved hands and thick, wooly scarves (matching, of course) wrapped around their necks. "we thought we'd visit," yamaguchi explains first, taking his and yachi's drinks and placing them on the counter as if the place were their own. "it's slow tonight, and i think i'd rather kill myself than make small talk with our boss."
the two rid themselves of their garments -- the scarves, the coats, the gloves -- and just like the coffee, it all finds itself splayed across the counter.
a warmth spreads through her chest at the sight. it comes again when they all sit behind the register, two spare plastic chairs pulled out for the newfound company. and it rises once more when they all laugh in unison, the sound reverberating in both the store and her heart. it trickles up from the bottom of her ribcage to the top of her head, and with each pass it makes, she feels even lighter.
she wonders where it all was before. the white-hot glow of everything around her washes over the burden of being once riddled in her bones, and she questions the bigger picture that had consumed her life before: the false yearning for what once was, the reminiscence, the overbearing memory of someone that isn't quite her. a soft breath falls from her tongue, and another, and another, and another.

ᡣ𐭩 sooo cheesy LOL. but i loved when i first thought of this chapter bc the vibes were so cute and warm and i needed it to be in this series
ᡣ𐭩 updates r obvs going much slower be of school..... i need to be shot before APs kill me (AP phys and AP calc bc i will always hate you)
ᡣ𐭩 kageyama very often comes in sweaty from practice. do with that what u will
ᡣ𐭩 it's not very common for yachi n yams to come into the store at all. to kind of clarify the relationship btwn yachi yams and yn, it's like online they're oomfs and irl theyre just moots. do u catch my drift. in all srs yn is the one to visit them more often (bc it's new grounds, duh) which is kind of what sparked the household connection (outside of kenhina)
ᡣ𐭩 it's ALSO not very common for kageyama to be asked about the decision that sort of haunts his entire life. his roommates know it's a sore topic, and they were also there when the decision was made, and hinata brings it up way too much already, and it's just such an awkward conversation that they try not to pry too far. which is both great and horrible for kags, bc while he doesn't necessarily want to talk about it all the time (again, the theme of running away from his problems), he knows that bottling it up doesn't help at all
ᡣ𐭩 am i projecting? i guess we'll never know!
ᡣ𐭩 as i'm typing this i'm realizing that i need to finish mezzo forte (might discontinue it to be honest but ARGHHGHGHSD its so close to ending)
ᡣ𐭩 the fall of mezzo forte is like my fall of the roman empire. but this isn't about mezzo forte this is about the night shift

Convenient Interventions
Tea Type: Sweet Tea (Fluff)
Potential Triggers: None for this one! ^^
Pairing: Oikawa & Tsukishima/ Kageyama
Length: 638
Summary: Tsukishima realizes Kageyama is having trouble focusing, and Oikawa, helpful friend that he is, decides to help him relax.
A/N: Gods Kageyama is such a cute Lee and I feel like these two would be lethal Lers, especially to him. Poor Tobio-
Tumblr media
“Man, you really suck today- can’t focus King?”
Kageyama whirled and barked a retort.
“Shut it, Four Eyes no-one asked you!”
“So aggressive. Scary~ What, did you not sleep last night, stressing about Oikawa again?”
Kageyama flinched and Tsukishima smirked to himself.
Bingo.
He marched over to where Tsukishima waited on the sidelines and started ranting.
“Why would I even care that he’s here- I’m gonna wipe the floor with him!”
“I’m sure that’s why you’re trembling.”
Tsukishima grabbed his arm, holding it up so he’d see his own hand.
“Wow, you’re that on edge cause of little old me? I’m flattered Kageyama~”
Kageyama tried to whirl to face Oikawa but Tsukishima still had a firm grip on his arm.
“You- don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“Oh, don’t I? You’d always get the pregame jitters- remember how we used to help you out with that~?”
There was a lilt evident now, and Tsukishima couldn’t deny he was curious, especially as Kageyama turned his attention back to him and tried to squirm out of his grip when Oikawa began to leisurely walk over.
“Lemme go- this is stupid!”
“Aw, don’t be like that! I just wanna help.”
“No! I-”
“Don’t tell me your new teammates don’t know Tobio. That just won’t do! Tsukishima- you wouldn’t mind helping me dispel Kageyama’s fears, would you?”
Tsukishima probably should’ve been a good teammate and released Kageyama- but he could admit he was sadistically curious.
“Whatever- if it’ll help him play at his best..”
He dismissed, raising his chin as he pulled Kageyama towards him, readjusting him a moment and putting his arms under his to hold the squirming setter against his body.
Oikawa beamed at both of them, easily speaking over Kageyama’s cursing.
“Kageyama here- is actually really ticklish. Here, I’ll show you! It’s the best way to make him shut that big mouth of his and make him squeal.”
He closed in before Kageyama could kick him away and dug into the boy’s sides but he held firm, glaring at him for all he was worth and biting his lip.
Unfortunately for Kageyama, his smirk only widened at the challenge.
“Ah, he’s playing hard to get. That’s fine by me- it’s more fun when I get to break him!”
Tsukishima couldn’t help snickering.
“Well at least now your fear of him makes sense. Too ticklish to take it? The ones who talk a big game like you always have some sort of childish weakness like this. Wait till the others find out.”
Kageyama turned red, his blush raging and very evident and Oikawa encouraged it further with his own laughter, dancing his fingers up to scribble merrily at his ribs making Kageyama finally burst out laughing, unable to help himself.
“Ahaha! Wow, you’re a mean one! Teasing is the perfect way to break that stoic facade of his. Isn’t that right Tobio?"
"You guys are the whohohorst!! Cut it ohohohout!”
“We’re just trying to help Tobio- you don’t have to pretend you hate it.”
Oikawa cooed.
“I’m not pretending!! You guys shuhuhuhuck!”
“Your blush says otherwise. I didn’t even know it could go to your ears like that.”
Tsukishima quipped, blowing air into it and making Kageyama squeal. He could deny it all he wanted but the blonde blocker felt how relaxed he’d become. This really had helped him unwind.
Still, he decided to be nice. Just this once.
“Alright, I don’t want him too tired out before we beat you- thanks for the information though Captain.”
Tsukki finally released him and Oikawa jumped back with a laugh as Kageyama panted and glared at him.  He shook himself off and seemed dead set on taking the other down, storming off to practice with Hinata, and Tsukishima couldn’t help but snicker.
This information would definitely have its uses down the line.

TickleTober Day #3: Caramel Apple
Hinata and Kageyama (Haikyuu)
~~~
Kageyama hovered over the candy apple hesitantly. Not that he didn’t want it – he did, very much so – but it was going to make a giant mess, and he wasn’t sure how to attack it.
Beside him, Hinata had already taken a giant bite of his, the caramel sticking to his chin. “What’s wrong, Kageyama? Don’t you want yours? It’s really good!”
“Of course I want it,” he muttered. “It’s just going to be messy. Why didn’t we grab napkins?”
Then again, napkins probably weren’t going to cut it where caramel was involved, and they were smack in the middle of the carnival’s food court now anyway. As far as they could be from any kind of cleanup.
“Just go for it!” his friend replied, grinning and showing off specks of caramel stuck to his teeth. “We can find a bathroom afterwards to wash up. Go crazy! It’s a carnival, after all!”
Kageyama glanced at the glorious mess in front of him, sighed, and then resigned himself to looking like a complete idiot trying to devour it all in one sitting. At least he wouldn’t be alone in that department; Hinata was already almost finished with his.
Several minutes later, he finally took the last bite of the candy apple, a satisfied hum escaping his lips. “That was fantastic.”
“Right?” Hinata exclaimed, getting to his feet, already ready for the next adventure. “What do you want to do next?”
“Clean up,” Kageyama said, knowing full well his redheaded friend had already forgotten they needed to. “Where’s the nearest restroom?”
“Oh! Right! I saw one near the vendor selling these. We can go there.” Hinata easily clambered out of his seat, uncaring as to whether he made a mess of his surroundings as he went. He darted around to Kageyama’s side and watched him for a moment. “Do you need help getting out?”
“No!” the taller boy snapped automatically, shimmying uselessly for a few moments longer. He was trying not to use his hands to help him climb out of the picnic bench they were at, but it wasn’t as easy as it looked. Finally he let out a huff and grumbled, “Yes.”
He should have known what was coming the instant Hinata smirked at him like that. Within moments his friend had descended, grabbing carelessly onto his ribs under his shirt and squeezing rapidly, forcing giddy giggles out of him that he was both mortified by and excited about.
“Wahahahahahahait, Hinata! Dohohohohohon’t! Not hehehehehehehere!”
“Aww, still so ticklish, Kageyama~ Why not use your hands to stop me if you want me to so bad, hmm? Tickle, tickle, tickle!”
Kageyama was blushing furiously, arms clamped to his sides in a vain effort to stop his friend’s antics, giggles and squeals spilling out of him uncontrollably. He allowed it for a few seconds longer before finally surrendering; he didn’t want to be seen like this in public if he could avoid it. “Okahahahay, okay, volleybahahahahahall, you idiohohohohot!”
Hinata stopped his attack with a giant grin, switching gears to actually helping the taller boy out of the picnic bench. “The restroom is this way. Follow me!”
It was then that Kageyama realized the further ramifications of Hinata’s tickle attack; he now had sticky caramel all over his shirt around his ribs. Anyone who knew them would just have to look at his clothes to realize what had happened.
“Hinata!” he snapped. “Get back here, you little twerp! You made a mess of my shirt!”
The tangerine-haired boy yelped and hurried onward, expertly avoiding Kageyama’s grabby hands until they were out of the crowd and the restrooms were in sight.
He had to submit to his best friend’s tickly wrath before they could get cleaned up, though.
“You were the one that said the winner could punish the loser however he wanted!” Hinata said a bit too eagerly, already straddling Kageyama’s hips to prevent him from escaping. Kageyama’s arms were trembling above his head, but he stubbornly tried to keep them up. “I mean… yes, but I didn’t think you’d want to tickle me!”
Hinata giggled and he raised his hands, fingers spread. “Ten seconds. I will tickle you for ten seconds. I’m sure tough Kageyama can stand it, huh?” Kageyama made a sound deep inside his throat that had Hinata laughing as he set the timer. “Only ten seconds. Get ready, I’m starting in one… tw- now!”
“You sahahAHAID THREHEHE!” Kageyama fought the overwhelming urge to pull his arms down as Hinata clawed at his ribs, starting from the lowest to the highest closer to Kageyama’s underarms, those that had him cackling with loud laughter and that Hinata loved to pay more attention. “I hahahate you so muhuhuhuch! Tihihickling is sohoho unfahahair!” Hinata giggled, tensing his legs around Kageyama’s body when he started to buck his hips. “If you keep complaining I will add five seconds more.” Kageyama shrieked, shaking his head. “NOHOHO! I’m sorry! I’m sohohohorry- ahahaha!”
“Okay, eight seconds left.”
*slinks into your inbox like the Grinch to the fridge*
I waited a couple days to try and give other people a chance to request something from you, but since you still have some slots open, how can I not jump in? 🤩
I'm gonna circle back to an oldie for this one if I may! Platonic!KageHina has been on my mind a lot recently and I just LOVE your fics for them so much, friend! Perhaps something a bit more casual? Like just hanging out chatting turns into something? I don't have an exact scenario in mind; I just know you've done some volleyball-related ones for them in the past and thought it could be neat to shake it up a bit. But whatever you wanna do, I trust your writing judgement with my life! Thank you in advance and remember to drink water! 💖
Girl the way I CACKLED! kkarjkaerkjajrkeawjk That opening was amazing! And the prompt EEE! I haven't written for Platonic!Kagehina in awhile, so this was a delight! I've gotcha covered!
“Is it good?” Hinata asked, watching as Kageyama took a hesitant sip. A new boba shop opened up recently, something the tiny redhead insisted on going to. “We’ve never had it before! Come on!” Was all he said before practically dragging Kageyama with him.
The brunette sat back, letting the taste settle on his tongue. Then: “Yeah. It’s pretty good.”
“Not much of a reaction.” Hinata laughed, leaning away when the other offered a sip. “No thanks- I don’t like milk.”
“What- what do you think our drinks are made out of?” Kageyama blinked, watching the redhead suck on his bright orange beverage.
“Juice!” He cried with a grin, teeth pumpkins. “It’s way better! Want some?”
“Nah- I don’t like orange juice.”
“Huh.” Hinata hummed, the two sitting side by side sipping on their drinks. Then- “Why not?”
“Too sour. Makes my face hurt.”
“This isn’t sour at all. I got extra sugar in it.”
“You’re gonna be bouncing off the walls. Not that you haven’t been doing that already.”
“Oh please- like you’re so above that.” Hinata snorted, looking at the creamy boba tea Kageyama held. “Is that sweet?”
“Don’t know. Want a sip to find out?”
“No way. Milk’s gross.”
“That’s why you're short.”
“Oi!” Hinata puffed as Kageyama smirked. “I’m not short- you’re just too tall! You’re built like a stalk of celery.”
“Better than being built like a baked bean.” Those were fighting words, but Kageyama didn’t stop himself from saying them. He quickly moved their drinks aside before it could be knocked over, Hinata’s cries of war nearly muffled as he was knocked flat onto the bench they shared.
“Take it back right now!” Hinata demanded, fingers already in action. Kageyama didn’t even get a chance to reply before he was fighting down the giggles rising in his throat. “Take it back, you celery looking jerk! Take it back I say!”
“Ne-nehehever!” He cried out, halfheartedly shoving at the hands pawing at his stomach. “Bahahhaked beahhan b-bohohoke!”
Hinata gasped at the alliteration, clutching his pearls. “You-you-you son of a- that’s it! I’ll show you what this baked bean can do!” Motivated, Hinata put all his energy into tickling the other, grabbing Kageyama’s wrist and pulling it overhead. Once there, he took his other hand and slowly began walking it up his side, pressing in sharply with each step. “Coochie coochie coo! A tickle tickle tickle Tobi-Toe!”
“GAH!” The setter all but yelped at the touch, arching some before dissolving into giggles. “Yoohohohou ahahahahss! Dohohoohn’t- noohohoht the bahahhahaby tahahhaalk! Geahhahahahaha!”
“Yes baby talk! Babies love milk, so that makes you one! A coochie coochie coo!” Hinata made his voice extra sweet- talking like a mother to her newborn as he viciously dug into the center rib along Kageyama’s side. It was a terrible spot- one that nearly sent him flying with how hard the other writhed. “Who’s a ticklish whittle baby? You are! You are!”
“SHUHUHUT UUHUUHP! SHHIHIHIHT! YOHOOHOU AHAHAHASS!” Kageyama cackled, squeezing his eyes shut as he kicked his feet against the bench. Oh how he was gonna destroy this little turd! “MOHOOHOVE SOOHOHOEMWHEHEHERE EHEHEHLSE!”
“Huh? What?” Hinata paused his tickles briefly as he leaned in, a hand to his ear. “Can’t hear you- you’re far too quiet! Wanna try again, whitt-”
His teases were quickly ended when Kageyama flipped the tables- literally. How he managed to keep them on the bench in doing so amazed him, but there was no time to wonder. “Thehehere, you ahahahss! I’hihill show yoohou who’s the bahahaby here!” Kageyama was quick to repeat Hinata’s previous move, grabbing his wrist and going straight for a bad spot. The redhead didn’t stand a chance.
“AHHH!” Hinata shrieked like he was in a horror movie, quickly dissolving into laughter as Kageyama dug into his stomach. “Kahahhahahahhagehhehahahhhaha! Mehahahahhahahaha nooohohoht my behehehehlly! Geahahhahaha pleahhahahahhse!”
“Hmm, no. You get what you get.” The setter snickered, an idea coming to mind as he shoved up Hintatas shirt. “Don’t think I forgot your little comment earlier, Boke. Tobi-toe, huh?”
“Yeahhahahah cahahhsue youohohu lohoohohook like a tohoohohie-EHEHEHEHEH!” Hinata arched with a loud squeal as Kageyama dragged his finger against warm skin, drawing out a tic tac toe grid. “Wahahhait wahahhaait whahahhahat?”
“X’s or O’s?” Kageyama asked, tapping the center “square” rapidly as Hinata struggled to think. “Pick before I decide for you.”
“Eheheheheh! Fihihihine, fihihiihne Oohohohohs!” Hinata cried, giggling harder as Kageyama scratched out an “x” on the center square. “Nohohohoo fahahahir, I shoohoohuld get to gohohoho first!”
“Too bad. Where do you want your “O”?”
“Ehehahhahah! Gehahahhaha- uuhuhuuhper mihihihidle-EHEH!” Hinata kicked as an “O” was drawn. One after the other- x’s and o’s were “sketched” into his stomach, leaving him a squealing, shrieking mess. Eventually leading to…
“Damn, a drawl.” Kageyama hummed- drawing out a massive “C” across the entire graph. Hinata was near silent with mirth, wheezing against the crook of his trapped arm as he gasped for air. Seeing this, Kageyama stopped his tickles- waiting patiently for the tiny jumper to catch his breath. “Want me to stop?”
“Hehe..hehehe..” The ginger giggled. He whispered something- so quiet Kageyama couldn’t quite hear him. With his free hand, he gestured him closer.
“I said…” Hinata began, only to quickly grab at Kageyama’s side. “Take that!” The setter yelped and collapsed against him, cackling the entire time. Soon their controlled tickle fight turned into an all out brawl- their hands poking and grappling at each other's tickle spots as their laughter filled the area all around. Eventually, everything came to an end when they rolled off the bench.
To their amazement post the tickle fight- they somehow avoided their drinks. Small victories.
~~~
“Heh..hehehe..whhohooho one?” Hinata giggled out, haphazardly flopping into Kageyama’s side as he gasped for air. Kageyama wasn’t any better, leaning back into him as he wiped mirthful tears away from his eyes.
“Hell..I dooohohn’t know. Truhuuhce?” He asked, humming as Hinata nodded. Reaching out, he blindly reached out for his drink, bringing it to his lips.
“Mm!” He yelped when his tongue was assaulted by citrus. He grabbed the wrong one. “Oh….oh.” He took another sip, nodding. “You know…that’s not bad.”
Hinata blinked, then he reached across the other- grabbing the milk tea. After a few sips, he nodded. “You know….I still hate milk.”
Kageyama sputtered so hard it came out his nose. Hinata cackled, falling on his back as he laughed and laughed- Kageyama practically in tears once more against him as he did the same.

Practice Makes Perfect
Tumblr media
Summary: A practice session between Hinata and Kageyama takes an unexpected turn when Kageyama uses an unusual method to help Hinata overcome his frustration and improve his volleyball skills. Their playful interaction highlights the bond they share, adding a lighthearted twist to their intense training routine.
Warnings: Tickling

The afternoon sun streamed through the high windows of Karasuno’s gym, casting long shadows on the polished wooden floor. The rhythmic thud of a volleyball bouncing echoed in the spacious room, punctuated by sharp exhales and the squeak of sneakers as two figures moved in sync. Hinata and Kageyama were the only ones left, the rest of the team having long since wrapped up their practice. But these two were far from done.
“Kageyama! How’s that?” Hinata called out, his voice breathless yet full of energy. He stood on one side of the net, his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath after his latest serve.
Kageyama, positioned on the other side, caught the ball effortlessly. His sharp gaze locked onto Hinata, and he frowned, a familiar expression of frustration mixed with exasperation crossing his face. “It’s still too high, dumbass! You need to keep it lower and put more spin on it.”
Hinata groaned, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. His usually bright expression was now a mix of determination and frustration. “I’m trying! But it’s way harder than I thought…”
“You’re overthinking it,” Kageyama said, his tone as blunt as ever. He walked toward the net, his footsteps echoing in the empty gym. “Your body knows what to do, but you’re not letting it work. Relax and trust your instincts.”
Hinata looked up at him, his expression softening slightly at Kageyama’s words. He nodded, pushing himself to stand tall. “Okay… I’ll try again.”
Kageyama tossed the ball back to him. “And stop messing up this time.”
Hinata caught the ball with a determined nod. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He tossed the ball into the air, leaped with all the force he could muster, and smacked it with his palm. The ball flew across the net—but curved too much, missing its mark.
Hinata’s heart sank as the ball bounced off the floor outside the boundary line. “Argh! Again?!” he shouted in frustration, dropping to his knees as he buried his face in his hands. “Why can’t I get it right?!”
Kageyama watched him for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, with a sigh, he crossed the court and crouched down beside Hinata. “You’re too tense,” he said, his voice unusually calm. “You need to loosen up.”
Hinata peeked through his fingers, his curiosity piqued. “Loosen up? How?”
Kageyama’s lips curled into a small, rare smirk. Without warning, he reached out and jabbed his fingers into Hinata’s sides. The reaction was immediate—Hinata’s eyes widened in surprise, and a burst of high-pitched laughter escaped his lips as he jerked away instinctively.
“K-Kageyama?! What are you doing?!” Hinata squealed, his voice rising an octave as he tried to squirm away from Kageyama’s relentless fingers.
“Tickling the stress out of you,” Kageyama replied, his tone deadpan, though there was a mischievous glint in his eyes. His fingers wiggled against Hinata’s ribs, poking and prodding with surprising accuracy.
Hinata’s laughter filled the gym, his earlier frustration completely forgotten as he was reduced to a giggling mess. “N-no! S-stop it! AHAHAHAHA! K-Kageyamaaa!” he cried out, his voice shaky with uncontrollable laughter. His body twisted and turned, trying desperately to escape Kageyama’s ticklish assault.
But Kageyama was relentless. He knew exactly where to target—digging into Hinata’s ribs, skittering his fingers across his belly, and even sneaking up to poke at his underarms. Each spot elicited a different reaction from Hinata, from squeals to gasping giggles.
“Relax, Hinata,” Kageyama teased, his smirk growing as he continued his ticklish torture. “You’ll never get it right if you’re all tense like this.”
“HAHAHA! I-I’m relaxed! I-I’m relaxed!” Hinata pleaded, though his words were barely coherent between his bouts of laughter. His cheeks were flushed, and tears of mirth began to gather at the corners of his eyes.
Kageyama finally relented, pulling back with a satisfied expression as he watched Hinata collapse onto the floor, panting and giggling uncontrollably. “See? I told you you needed to loosen up.”
Hinata lay on his back, still catching his breath, his chest rising and falling rapidly. He wiped at his eyes, trying to clear the tears of laughter that blurred his vision. “Y-you’re such a jerk, Kageyama,” he managed to say, though there was no real malice in his tone.
Kageyama shrugged, unfazed. “Yeah, yeah. Now get up. We’re not done yet.”
Hinata groaned but couldn’t suppress the grin that spread across his face. He pushed himself up, a new energy sparking in his movements. “Alright! One more time—I’m gonna nail this serve!”
Kageyama tossed the ball to him with a small smirk. “We’ll see.”
Hinata took his position, his body still buzzing with the remnants of laughter. He could feel the difference—the tension in his muscles had eased, his mind was clearer, and his heart wasn’t weighed down by frustration. This time, when he tossed the ball into the air, he felt a surge of confidence. He jumped, his form fluid and natural, and struck the ball with precision.
The ball sailed over the net, landing perfectly inside the boundary line with a satisfying thud.
Kageyama’s eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, a proud smile broke through his usually stoic expression. “Not bad, Hinata.”
Hinata beamed, his earlier struggles forgotten. “Yeah! I did it!”
“Don’t get cocky,” Kageyama warned, though there was a hint of warmth in his tone. “You still need to work on consistency.”
Hinata grinned, holding the ball up as if it were a trophy. “I’ll keep practicing until I get it right every time!”
Kageyama nodded, satisfied. “Good. But remember—if you start messing up again, I won’t hesitate to tickle you until you get it right.”
Hinata’s grin faltered slightly at the thought. “Uh, no thanks! I’ll just… focus really hard!”
The rest of the practice continued, but the atmosphere was lighter, the tension replaced by a playful energy that carried them through each drill. Even as they pushed each other to improve, there was an unspoken bond that had strengthened between them, a reminder that they were in this together.
And if Kageyama had to resort to tickling Hinata every now and then to keep him on track, well, it was all part of the process.
