same team, different goal
(pt.1) (pt.2) (pt.3)
summary: the three weeks leading up to the draft, or the three times you realize caitlin isnt all that bad.
(2k)
week one
march was coming to an end, and Iowa had made it to the elite eight. tomorrow you would play against LSU, and you were a little nervous. your nerves didn't ease up when you were practicing the night before on an empty court.
it was almost ten, but you hadn't eaten or even thought about anything but the game tomorrow until you heard someone enter the gym, and then you weren't alone.
looking up from the ground, you shot the basketball towards the net, your arm stretching out and your feet coming off of the floor for a moment, but to no avail, it hit the backboard and bounced back to you.
"you should ease up your arm, you're too tense to be playing to your full ability." you turn to see caitlin standing by the court's edge, a calculated look on her face. "clark, I really don't need your help, I just need to practice. you're not exactly helping with that by the way."
she put her hands up in defense, "Actually that was exactly what I was doing. Plus, this isn't your gym, I can come in and practice too if I want." and that's what she did. every time she threw the ball you heard a faint swish and turned to see her lazily going to retrieve the basketball. she's some freak of nature really.
"wanna run some defense real quick?" she throws the ball to you, which you catch with an annoyed look. "sure," the tone of your voice would be enough to turn anyone away normally, but caitlin was one to never quit.
you guys had been trying to block the other on and off for about an hour, caitlin having more success than not. "seriously caitlin, I don't get how you just walk in here and play so easy." you guys were over by the benches, getting some water and checking your phones.
she looks up at you, shrugging. "no I mean seriously, if I told you to stand anywhere on the court you could make it. you practice infinite hours and yet your grades almost never falter." you hadn't really realized that you were going on a rant, but you were nothing but amazed by her talent. well maybe a little jealous too.
"wow l/n, I didn't know you were that big of a fan, do you want me to sign a shirt or something?" you would usually be annoyed by a snarky statement like this, but something about the exhaustion of practicing and the smile on her face made you smile a little too.
-
you woke up the next morning feeling less nervous about the game. practicing with caitlin was helpful, even if you swear for the rest of your life that it wasn't. She had told you about herself, in between breaks you guys would talk about what it was like playing basketball growing up.
she was easy to talk to.
you had been warming up for a little, talking to kate and trying to relax, like caitlin said. by half, both teams were tied at 45, and you were trying not to stress. you knew that you had a good team, and you knew that even if we were to fail it wouldn't be the end of the world.
you had a short water break at half, and caitlin came up to you, leaning down and whispering in your ear. "hey just relax, we got this, just get out of your head." you nodded, looking up and her. kate had given you guys an odd look, along with the rest of the team.
once the third quarter started, you were trying to guard angel resse. she was a difficult player to block, but you had managed to stop a few points and by the end of the third quarter Iowa was up by 11.
you could tell caitlin wasn't happy that we were so close to the end of the game and we barely had a lead. "c, just play like you did last night, don't think just play. you're not the best at thinking anyway." she rolled her eyes at your comment but smiled nonetheless.
"That's not what you said last night," she said as the whistle for the fourth quarter blew. your cheeks had turned a light shade of pink, one that you hoped you could play off as a tough game. you hadn't been put in for the fourth quarter coach opting to put someone else in and give you a break.
"since when have you and caitlin been friends?" you turn to see jada, confusion written on her face. "um, we've always been friends, just, not like good friends." you say, taking a sip of your water. "not "good friends?" you guys fight like there's no tomorrow. something happened and I and kate will find out." you shake your head, a smile on your face as you picture her and kate in old-timey investigater outfits.
"you have fun with that."
the game ends quickly after that, Iowa winning by 7 points. you smiled as you saw the team celebrate on the court, still holding good sportsmanship to LSU (for the most part..), you walked by the other team, high-fiving and telling resse that she's a tough player to block. you guys chat for a little before you say goodbye and walk into the locker room.
"what were you talking to resse about?" you hear caitlin before you see her, but when you do see her she's in the middle of changing out of her jersey into some random shirt. "nothing really, I was just telling her that she played well." you shrugged, walking over to your bag to get changed as well, trying not to stare at anyone.
"yeah, she played well I guess, we still won though." caitlin grabbed her bag in a huff, seeming to be a tad annoyed. "if I didn't know any better I would say you're mad I talked to her," you mumbled, but caitlin still heard.
"I'm not mad I just don't get why you don't treat our team like that, I mean you didn't congratulate any of us and we were the ones who won." caitlin's voice was raised now, you weren't sure where this was coming from but it ticked you off nonetheless.
"fine, you need some praise? good fucking job caitlin, our very own lord and savior." you rolled your eyes, grabbing your bag, and walking out to the bus to head back to campus. sitting down in the seat next to kate you were silent, not wanting to talk to anyone.
one thing though was that you most definitely hated caitlin clark.
-
you had gotten to Cleveland earlier that day, you had talked to the UConn team, since you used to play for them it was fun to chat with old teammates and meet the new players. you knew that caitlin and paige were friends, they used to play together and were a great duo. That's why you weren't surprised when she came over and started making her presence known, shutting down the conversation you were having with paige.
"yeah and then she had the audacity-" you were cut off by caitlin, smiling as she walked over and hugged paige. "hey bueckers, you better be ready to lose tomorrow." you glared at her not so subtly, sighing. "clark I was kind of in the middle of talking." she looked down at you, rolling her eyes. "yeah because you always have to talk to the opponents?"
paige had turned away at that point, talking to ice because she knew it was bound to be awkward if she continued standing there. "what is your problem? just because I didn't feed your ego one time im a problem? you need to get a grip." her jaw tightened at your words, you hadn't spoken loud, not wanting to draw too much attention to you guys.
"me? I'm not the one with the issues, you just seem to hate me for no reason at all. seriously, ever since you transferred to Iowa I've been trying to be your friend but you've taken everything I've done as an attack on you. me getting you dinner was not meant to send you into an allergic reaction and get you out of a game!" she hadn't taken into consideration that other people were around and she was talking at a voice level far too loud for the small area you were in.
you had dragged her to a corner, deciding it would be the easiest way to defuse the situation. "okay I'm sorry, you're just good at everything, and it's kind of hard to be friends with someone like that. it makes me feel like I have to prove I'm better which usually doesn't go over well. also, it wasn't even about the allergic reaction I just don't know why you got me dinner. I was fine by myself." caitlin rolls her eyes at your words but nods regardless.
-
you guys had won the game against UConn the next day, and you and caitlin finally working well together and not arguing throughout the game. there was a sort of understanding between the two of you guys now.
week two
you guys had ulitamtily lost the game against NC state, it was close and you guys had played hard. caitlin was anything but happy by the end of it, and not even kate or gabbie could fix it.
"clark, like you said, its not the end of the world. there will always be another game." you had said it to not only help her, but yourself. you weren't exactly pleased with the outcome of the game, none of team had been.
for caitlin it was different, she was going to the draft next week and losimg her lat college game wasn't something she could live with. but she would have to.
even though you hadn't really meant to, you had cheered caitlin up. even if it was only a little bit, her mood had improved and she was able to talk to the team with out an undertone of anger. the ride home wasn't the best trip of your life but you guys had managed to make the best of it for everyone sake.
seeing caitlin sit quietly on the bus made you start thinking about what it wold be like on the team with out her next year. with out her it would be so different, not to mention you were losing a bunch of other great players. but with out caitlin who would you compete with? she wasn't just a teammate, she was a friend, whether you guys were fighting or not you would miss her. plus she was nice to look at.
half way through the trip back to campus you guys had stopped to stretch your legs. when you got back on, you sat next to caitlin before she could put her feet up and block the seat.
"hey c," you smiled at her, and though she didn't show it you could tell that she was okay with you being there. you had looked over at what she was doing on her phone and you saw she was looking at her possible outfits for the draft.
"i like that one." you had pointed to your favorite of the options, a sparkly cropped top with a white button down and a skirt. it would look good on her.
she nodded, and quickly sent a text to her stylist that that was the one she wanted to wear. you had just picked out caitlin clarks wnba draft night outfit.
"i don't know what im going to do next year. i mean, the wnba is going to be great but seriously this team is to good to not miss." caitlin was picking at her fingernails, a bad habit of hers. "even though im on it?" you laughed a little, you knew she hadn't always liked you.
"no i think especially because you're on it. you've really been my number one compeition and with you gone i don't know who's going to keep my ego in check." she smiles at you, and you shake your head. "trust me clark, someone is going to get fed up and humble you."
something about the way she smiled the rest of the way home made you feel good. you really were going to miss her.
week three
it was draft night, and you had been invited along with some other team members to attend for caitlin. she and everyone looked so good, and the outfit you had chosen definitely distracted some people. (you included)
the draft was about to start and caitlin had been standing with you, kate, gabbie, and jada for a while before she finally had to leave. your leg was bouncing with anticipation when the commissioner came on stage with the first pick, but instantly cheers erupted from your group and many others in the room.
you were surprised when caitlin didn't instantly get up and head to the commissioner, instead, she hugged her family, stepped down off the stage to hug you first, and then, kate, jada, and gabbie, and then finally went to the commissioner. that's going to be in an edit.
the night went smoothly after that, you were getting texts from her often, and one of the commentators had pointed out that you both both on your phones. when the cameras panned over to her and you, the crowd cheered and you both waved. you felt your phone buzz a few seconds later with a text from caitlin, "they're watching us 😉" the cameras were still on you, so you flipped your phone showing the camera her message.
-
later that night, at the after party you were talking with Nika when caitlin had excused you both and you walked over to some corner. "hey, you know I was tal-" you were cut off by caitlin's lips on yours. it took you a moment but you kissed back.
what the fuck was happening.
she pulled away after a second and you looked at her stunned, confusion evident on your face. "um, so like why did you do that?"
her face guys pink, and she looks confused as well. "I, um, i don't know why i did that. i just really wanted to kiss you." you nodded at her admittion, yet still confused.
"i think i've liked you since you transferred. i mean, i just like, i think that's why I've always competed with you, i just wanted to show off. It's why i got mad the other day, sorry about that by the way-" she was the one to get cut off this time as you kissed her again.
pulling away after a few seconds you smiled up at her, taking in your high difference for what seemed like the first time. "you're not all too bad either clark." you gave her one more peck and your smile widened even more if possible. "congrats on getting drafted by the way. I'll have to get you to sign a jersey for me."
CHAT I HATE THIS SO MUCH SOME ONE END ME. no like all jokes aside this is actual dookie. but i finally finished this little side blurb thing so yay!! making brownies rn i will update you on them! thats all chat, once again sos. - kate

Hello hello!! Does the church(Covent?) have a confessional? If so, does Yaki listen and give advice to people? (Also what's the weirdest thing he's listen to and had to give advice on?)
Hello!! Sorry in advance for the late reply!!
The convent does indeed have a confessional booth; sometimes people go there to seek advice from Yaki, but it is not done every day of the week. Mainly on Saturdays or Sundays the confessional booth is open for such things, THO on other days people still ask for Yaki, which kinda makes his schedule fill up with other things to do etc..
Weirdest thing he listened to? cough FOR THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW SHHHHH
I think it has to be that time a woman kept shaming herself for her impure thoughts about a certain red headed guy, went on a whole 45 pages rant on how she wants to hold hands with this person and look at the sunset together (keeping this family friendly!!!!!!). Yaki's advice on that? Cut ties with this person and he didn't go further with the conversation</3

Snuck away to the range for a few hours today! It was a pistol and pistol caliber carbine day. From left to right, my CZ Scorpion SBR with my SilencerCo Octane 9 on the end, my Kriss Vector Gen 2 in 45acp, and my QC10 AR45 in 45acp with my ACC Ti-Rant on the end. Shooting the Vector is always interesting because of its unusual bolt set up but it’s fairly accurate and not much recoil. The CZ Scorpion is fast and accurate. And the QC AR in 45 is just plain fun to shoot, super quiet and accurate. A fun day.

Hi! Great I understand I have a ton of channels and stories I could rant about for ages! There’s a good mix of them all here :)
Shezu Rivera
The Neon Noir series: The series follows the listener (Rookie) in a cyberpunk setting as a new recruit in a police force, recently magic has returned to earth and its set in the future and she has put so much work into it
Sunshine in the Moonlight: This series follows a listener (sunshine) a werewolf fighting against old enemies of their hodgepodge pack for the title of alpha with their human best friend learning about werewolves as she goes and writes about it.
The Suncoast: Currently this story only has one episode out but it follows a bunch of different listeners and characters in a town with a bunch to discover (I’m very excited about it)
The Countess: (this one is a bit more romantically focused at the beginning) The listener (darling/pet) is a college student that while finishing up their degree has been employed as an employee in a manor owned by the vampire countess Ainora (or as she’s affectionately referred to “The Countess”)
In between most of these she has a bunch of miscellaneous public scripts she does :)
Parasocial Panther
She has a whole slew of uniquely crafted second person pov stories where sometimes there’s a listener and sometimes there’s not and you get to see this story play out. (Most of these are romantic stories but they are usually tied to a good amount of plot)
Glitch Audio
A beautiful channel that follows a whole narrative crafted in her original world, Untteram. It has a 45 episodes with a spy, a princess, a maid, a goddess, and a vampire. (There are definitely a few more but I can’t think of them off the top of my head)
Lightforged ASMR
More romantically focused audios that follows a bunch of characters one of my favorites Len, is a tragically but beautifully written vampire character. (I should mention it’s been a year since the creator last updated but if you enjoy like castleaudios type content then I highly suggest you check out her out)
Cool! Thank you, Echo!

Sebastian Murdock at HuffPost:
Internal company emails and a deposition obtained by HuffPost reveal how the right-wing network Newsmax dismissed accurate reports that a mass shooter was a white supremacist and shared an image of a man they incorrectly identified as the killer. Texas man Mauricio Garcia, 37, filed a libel lawsuit against Newsmax and other media organizations in March after an image of him was used in their coverage of a May 6, 2023, mass shooting at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas, that depicted him as the shooter. The real gunman was a 33-year-old white supremacist who shared the same first and last name as Garcia. The gunman killed eight people and wounded seven others before he was killed in a shootout with police. But it was the innocent Garcia’s image that was used to depict a neo-Nazi killer.
“This was a pretty obvious unforced error,” Newsmax News Director Chris Wallace wrote in an email after it became clear the network had connected an innocent man to a mass shooting, according to court records. Garcia is being represented by Houston attorney Mark Bankston of Farrar & Ball. Bankston previously represented the parents of a child who died in a 2012 school shooting who won a $45 million judgment against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for lies he spread about it. Entertainment blog Hollywood Unlocked and TelevisaUnivision (the parent company of Spanish-language broadcaster Univision) are also listed as defendants. Fox News was previously listed as a defendant but was dropped from the lawsuit in June. News site Today News Africa and far-right commentators Tim Pool and Steven Crowder settled with Garcia, Bankston told HuffPost. Andrew Brown, the chief operating officer at Newsmax, gave a deposition as part of the lawsuit on Aug. 20. During it, Brown routinely acknowledged that Newsmax staff failed its internal journalistic practices when reporting on the shooting. [...] Two days after the shooting, on May 8, media reports began to trickle in about the shooter’s ties to the neo-Nazi movement, including his tattoos of a swastika and the SS lightning bolt of Hitler’s paramilitary forces. The shooter also had a Russian social media account “rife with hate-filled rants against women and Black people,” The New York Times reported. And Aric Toler, a former researcher at the open-source research outlet Bellingcat, independently verified the killer’s social media website and posted details on X, formerly Twitter. Following the new details from Toler, prominent right-wing voices — including that of billionaire and X owner Elon Musk — floated conspiracies denying the shooter’s neo-Nazi background. [...] Later that night, on Newsmax’s ”Greg Kelly Reports,” the host questioned the shooter’s white supremacist background. Kelly was wrong, as authorities would later clarify. Even worse, Kelly aired a photo of the wrong Garcia while making his incorrect point. “We didn’t know anything for a good long time, like a day and a half went by, no information whatsoever, until they told us this guy did it, Mauricio Garcia,” Kelly said on his show. Next to Kelly was a mugshot of the innocent Garcia with a large graphic titled “‘White’ Supremacy?” underneath the image. Below that, a title for the segment read “Here We Go Again With ‘White Supremacy.’” [...]
‘I Told Them Not To Run It’
Backlash to the Kelly segment was swift. Publications including Forbes, Mediaite and The Daily Beast all wrote stories pointing out that Kelly had shown a photo of the wrong man. And The Associated Press released a fact-check about the wrong image, but did not mention Newsmax. Kelly had also — along with Knowles, the vice president of programming at Newsmax — questioned whether the shooting had been motivated by white supremacy. On May 9, authorities made clear the shooter had a history of racial hatred. “We do know that he had neo-Nazi ideation. He had patches. He had tattoos. Even his signature verified that,” Hank Sibley, North Texas regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at a press conference a day after Kelly’s segment. As the reports came in, Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy forwarded executives an email that a Daily Beast reporter sent asking about the error. “[Newsmax Vice President] Elliot, let’s follow up on this right away he needs to if he did do the wrong photo,” Ruddy said of Kelly. “He needs to say that ... Their team needs to be very careful on this obviously ... I’ll speak to bill about some simple thing to get back once you confirm, they did make the wrong photo.”
HuffPost obtained emails from right-wing propaganda outlet Newsmax on how wrong they got their coverage on the white supremacist Allen mall shooter, with host Greg Kelly running a segment on his Greg Kelly Reports program criticizing reports about shooter’s affiliations with white supremacists (which were indeed confirmed).
Any reputable news outlet would have terminated Kelly at that point (or several before then).

Fall From Grace 1: Where The End Begins
NonIdol!Jeonghan x Y/N
Tags: Polical angst, slow burn, contains cursing, fluff if you squint
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Any names or characters, businesses or places, events or incidents, are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
Songs to listen: Dancing with our Hands Tied, and State of Grace by Taylor Swift (even future songs to listen are all by our queen Taylor Swift 🫣)
Your hand and his intertwined while his thumb slowly draw circles on your skin. Your head on his shoulder. A famous sitcom in the 90s playing in the background. Jeonghan laughed at one of the character's punchline and you smiled. You moved your head to see his face then kissed his cheek.
Jeonghan turned his head to you and cupped your face. The sitcom is now long forgotten. He gave you a chaste yet passionate kiss. Jeonghan rest his forehead to yours.
"We have 45 minutes to go before Seulgi comes." You reminded him but his hands never left your face.
"That's 1 episode and 15 minutes of kissing." Jeonghan said in low voice. You rolled your eyes. He always have a rebuttal to whatever you say.
'Annoying idiot but my idiot' You murmured that made him laugh. You wrapped your arms around his neck and initiated the kiss. It's been a week of not being able to be with him.
You hate to admit it but you always crave for his presence and hope he does too. You both pulled away to breathe.
"You took my breath away." He said. You playfully slap his chest.
"We need to start to clean up. Seulgi might arrive earlier." Jeonghan nods. You both pick up the soda cans and junk foods plastic at the coffee table. When everything has been clean up, you took his cap hanging at back of your door.
Jeonghan gave that look. The look that you are too familiar. He hates the set up. He hates how you both need to sneak just to see each other. He hates how both of you need to avoid each other in campus.
All you can hope for is in an alternate universe you both can love without barriers. You both never asked each other about future plans. You and Jeonghan just live in the moment.
You tip toe in front of him to joustled his hair before putting the cap. Jeonghan gave you a small smile. He leaned on you and gave you a peck.
"I love you." He said.
"I know. " You smiled. Jeonghan smiled too. He knows it all too well about your thing on saying 'I love you'. If you can't say it, he will say it for the both of you. "Try the other route today. Seungcheol might get a sniff if you keep using the shortcut from my apartment to your frat house."
"Yes, I know. I get it." He said while trying to get on his shoes.
"Text me once you arrive at the frat house." He nodded. Once he were all set, Jeonghan looked at you.
"Do you want to elope? I am tired of hiding like we did something wrong. It's the elders who hate each other not us." There he goes ranting again. And there you go, just smiling with heart eyes. "San Franciso or somewhere with beach then we will live in peace."
"Yoon Jeonghan." You said with so much affection.
"Yeah?" You hugged him.
"Great plan but first you need to go back before Seulgi's back." Jeonghan sigh then kiss your cheek. Just like he always do.
"See you around campus." You nodded before he left.
You let out a deep sigh. How did the two of you whose roots are deeply entangled found each other falling? You were sure that you hated his guts but here you are sneaking him in every weekend. Things were much better when you hated him. You can see each other in the campus and you can both scoff each other. You spent the freshman year with endless tirades. Sophomore years tip toeing around and being confused. And now, as junior, you both just let things go.
Freshman year
The youth, vigor, and excitement of the students in the new turn in their life can be felt in the air. Excitement were gone when you stepped in to your International Politics class and saw a familiar face. It's an elective you need to take. Studying in an Ivy League university you understand that you might brushing shoulders with the sons and daughters of different nation. But you didn't expect to see this person.
Yoon Jeonghan, grandson of the dictator. His grandfather spent jail time but the ill gotten wealth were never collected. His grandfather died last year because of cancer. Although, her heart always go with people who suffers with cancer, his grandfather is an exception. You believed that he deserves more pain.
Jeonghan felt someone boring a stare on him that he moved his head around the room and found the culprit. He raised his brow but you roll your eyes then walked towards an empty seat. Jeonghan laughed at your antics. Completely unaware of why you gave him an eye roll.
The 1st few weeks went on like that. Bantering with your eyes until your professor called you for an opinion regarding the political dynasty that is rampant among developing countries.
"If the same set of family keeps on holding power, everything will be the same. These set of people will never give their citizens what they deserve. All they do is to fatten their wallet." You breathe then look at Jeonghan who is looking back at you. "What infuriates me more are their next to kin who are benefitting from their corruption."
You heard a snicker and saw Jeonghan smiling while his friend is pointing him while laughing.
"Also, I have never heard anyone who held a position too long take respinsibility of what they did. Best example is the Yoon family." You heard a gasp in the crowd. You said what you said. Your Professor silenced the class and asked you to sit down.
Just a few second later, you saw Jeonghan raised his hand. The professor let him have the floor.
"Park Y/N, right?" He said with a smile before looking at your professor. "I don't think it is necessary to bring the Yoon family in the conversation as the family didn't come from a developing country which is our topic right now."
You raised your hand and your professor let you stood up. The class were being entertained with the impending debate.
"I mentioned the Yoon family as an example of a group of people who didn't take responsibility for their atrocities." His friend gave a low whistle upon your rebuttal.
"As far as I remember, "Dictator Yoon" served jail time for all his crimes against the country. Isn't that enough?" Jeonghan said which even infuriates you.
"The justice system impose the penalty but it does not mean your grandfather took responsibility." He scoffed when you finally connect him with his family. The professor and other students immediately open their phones to see if you are saying the truth.
"Going back to out topic about political dynasty, isn't your family part of a dynasty? Your father was a lawmaker, now your mom is a minister." Another shocker for the whole class.
"Just like what you say 'was' and you can't say it is dynasty if only 2 people from my family held a position and take note not succeeding terms. Maybe my family just have a thing on over throwing corrupt families like yours." You smirked at him. Feeling like you won against him.
The professor ended the class early before the two of you make a brawl inside his classroom. You try to get out quickly but his two friends reached you.
"Hi! I'm Joshua Hong." You squinted your eyes trying to remember his face. He extended his hand to you. "Yeah one of the privillege asshole. Son of the Hong industry."
You nodded and shook his hand then another friend of Jeonghan introduced himself. You know this guy well. Choi Seungcheol.
"Seungcheol. Illegitimate child of the previous president. The guy who made him resign? Ring a bell?" You laughed at his introduction. Once his paternity were found out, the media hounded the former president and his consituents asked him to resign. Well, that's not the only reason why his father resigned. It was found out that he mismanaged a fund. Choi Seungcheol's identity is the final nail on the coffin.
Jeonghan just looked at them while waiting for Seungcheol and Joshua to end their conversation with you.
"You should join the international students club and meet people from our country." Joshua gave you a flyer with a colorful design with all the flags available on it. "Or join our parties at the frat house every weekend."
He winked at you. Seungcheol groaned then pulled Joshua away. You bid your goodbyes to them and saw Jeonghan still looking at you before switching his gaze to his two friends.
You spent the rest of the 1st semester making arguments and Jeonghan countering your statements even if it does not concerns his family. When 2nd semester came, you don't have any courses that requires meeting him but that doesn't mean you don't see him in the hallway. You still give him a side eye while he gives you a scoff. Joshua and Seungcheol kept on inviting you on the weekend parties. You finally gave in at the year end party.
It was a big house party in one of the Hong property in the city. Drinks are flowing, all the club food you can think of are available, and everyone is playing every drinking game you know.
Your eyes wander around and you can't help but wonder where is your not so official mortal enemy. You greeted the familiar faces in the house. The booming sound and flickering lights are not your thing. You took a glass of Merlot and find a place with little noise.
A spiral staircase welcomed you at the 2nd floor. You were about to settle in the 2nd floor but your curiosity where the spiral staicase will lead you piqued you. There you found a balcony facing a manmade lake and the face you were finding in the middle of the crowd.
"I'm sorry. I'll just go down." You said immediately and you were about to go down when spoke.
"No, you can stay." Jeonghan swig down his beer and start walking towards the exit.
"You know what we can both stay." You said that he did not expect it. He nodded and went back to his position. You both sit side by side.
Compare to thunderous noise at the first floor, you both enjoy the silence and peace. What an irony to enjoy peace with someone whose surname is a household name within the walls of your home. Not for a good reason but for how the government can seize their properties they gain during his grandfather's regime.
"Just to clear out any impression, I got in this university with scholarship." Jeonghan giving you a sad smile. You don't know what to say so you just nod. "Monthly stipends, dorm, and book allowance are also covered."
"That's nice." You said before sipping your wine. You don't know what to say.
"For the record, I didn't hate your parents." Jeonghan continued his monologue that made embarassment seeps in. It felt like a one sided hatred. "And I didn't hate you.'
"I'm sorry." That's all your soft voice can say. Jeonghan just nod. You can feel your face is already flushed with red.
"You don't need to apologize. I'm used with the stereotype." You look at him who is gazing at the stars above. You saw his handsome side profile and sad eyes.
"Yoon Jeonghan." You called his name without any anger. He hummed and you put the wine glass at the floor.
It must be the wine or the beautiful stars above. You grab his cheek and gave it a quick peck on his lips. You don't know why you thought it was befitting for the moment.
Jeonghan's eyes became wide at your surprise kiss but it didn't take a second when he pulled you for another kiss. You can taste the flavored beer he was drinking. You held onto his shoulder as he deepens the kiss.
That night he wasn't Yoon Jeonghan, grandson of a dictator, and you are not Park Y/N, whose parents actively fighting or investigating the Yoon family. You are just Park Y/N and he is just Yoon Jeonghan.
Sophomore year came like that kiss did not happen. Gone are the banters, side eyes, and scoffs. You just see each other in the eyes and somehow you both understand each other.

'tis i, the anon who ranted about the "bad boy" guy
it is 2:45 am and i am finally going to sleep! also i was thinking and remembered about this one guy i met this one day, we had like, one conversation but he was sweet and charming and nice
this made me realise, on introspection, that my crush on the "bad boy" guy is less of a genuine crush and more of a hyperfication on a momentary infatuation. i was consciously thinking about him, when unconsciously i usually think about literally anything-other-than-boys.
and listen. boys are nice. boys are great. but they are no shahi paneer, nor are they paneer ka parantha, nor are they subha subha garam chai. also i need to get over myself and get a life. that "bad boy" guy? oops. sorry. not gonna consciously think of you anymore. ta-ta bye bye bro. i have exams coming up, more important stuff to do haha
did you actually slept? idk if you just stayed awake. best of luck for your exams, also bitches come and go but exams are here once. give your best

i wish i were heather- chapter two
by: rosie <3
(i swear it’ll get a better name eventually lol)
tw: illness, low self-esteem, slight mention of loss, and the Danes
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REAL PERSON FIC. NONE OF THE CHARACTERS NOR THE STORY ARE TRYING TO BE BASED AROUND REAL PEOPLE OR EVENTS. I understand the song is partially true to the artist’s real high school life, but this story is meant to be all fiction.
note, i do not speak Danish. i used google translate, so i proudly blame all mistakes on them (jk, pls don’t come for me, sundar pichai)
After Conan put the sweater back on, (which he noticed Miles looking at him doing so, causing him to smile and blush stupidly and probably not very discreetly) the taller boy tied the two bags full of clothes together.
“Ready to go when you are,” Miles said smiling, the bag slung over his shoulder.
Kneeling to tie his shoes, he answered. “Oh, I mean it’s not like I waited 45 minutes, reading one of your terribly, and trust me when I say terribly, annotated books,” he teased, starting to rant. “It’s not like I offered to help you multiple times, but noooo, it’s not my stuff, so it’s just awful to even think about such a thing.”
“That was a nice thing for me to do!” Miles argued.
“I’m not done. All while sadly eating your mother’s delicious Danishes. So I don’t know, the chances of me being ready to go are relatively low…” Conan knew he was very clever, and liked to show it off sometimes, as he teasingly did now.
“Oh, poor you,” Miles retorted, pouting, then smiling, eventually bringing himself to a light chuckle, rolling his eyes, going downstairs from his loft bed. Conan followed, shutting the door behind them.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“Hej, mor, jeg er tilbage om est par timer, posen til Goodwill kommer i kasen. Elsker dig!”
Conan knew Miles’ mother, Astrid Nørgaard, preferred her son to speak to her in her native Danish. It always put a smile to Conan’s face when he heard them, and it was even better now that he had a slight idea of what they were saying; Miles had been teaching him since May. He recommended it much more than Duolingo.
The younger, taller boy was telling her they’d be back in a few hours. He was trying to get out of the house quickly. Conan knew why, and he felt sad thinking about it.
“Ah, ah, ah hvor tror du, du løber så hurtigt hen? Giv mig et kram, og for guds skyld, fort æl mig, hvor du skal hen! Det er, som om du er seksten på seksogtyve!” the woman exclaimed.
Conan couldn’t keep his laughter in, and it stifled out. Sixteen going on twenty six. A simple joke, yet so innocently funny. Even due to current circumstances, Mrs. Nørgaard never lost her sense of humor since he’d met her when he was only thirteen.
Miles claimed she’d told him, along with the four older Nørgaard children, that when her husband had died when Miles was just seven, she’d vowed to forever used his dad humor. And to add new cracks along the way. She kept her promise.
“Jeg er ked af det, mor, prover bare at komme,” Miles lied whitely. “Du ved, hvordan det er. Og hey, måske overskrider jeg tiden og fylder seksogtyve; Februar. Man ved aldrig.”
“Åh, du er der allerde, min elskede. Du har altid væ ret så moden at din alder. Jeg har altid elsket det ved dig.”
Miles just about teared up from that.
“Farvel, mor. vi kommer ikke for sent.”
“Farvel, min søn. spis frokost og forbliv hydreret.”
Miles and Conan both smiled, knowing what the lady had said. They headed out the door, Miles dropping the bag of Goodwill clothes in the cardboard box.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
how did you guys like this chapter?? i’ll get the next one out sooner because it was supposed to be in this one but it was a whole lot lol.
like mrs. nørgaard says in danish, have a good day, eat lunch and stay hydrated!! ✌︎('ω')✌︎

MY COUNTRY, 'TIS OF THEOCRACY
Now playing at Harkins Shea:
Tumblr media
God & Country--Produced by Rob and Michele Reiner and directed by Dan Partland, this documentary about Christian Nationalism in American politics is impassioned but lucid and not hysterical. Based on Katharine Stewart's book The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism, the movie is presented as a warning to secular or non-evangelical citizens for whom the propaganda and political agenda of that movement may be largely invisible.
The talking heads here are mostly Christians themselves, ranging from Russell Moore to Reza Aslan to Jemar Tisby to Kristin Kobes du Mez to Sister Simone Campbell to Bishop William J. Barber II to Veggie Tales co-creator Phil Vischer. They speak calmly, even a little sheepishly, but firmly and with an indisputable insider's perspective, and their message is: Christian Nationalism isn't about religious practice; it's about amassing political power.
It's not exactly breaking news when we're informed that Christian Nationalists are terrified of and enraged by feminism, LGBTQ rights, secular education, uncensored libraries and abortion rights, or that the movement is historically connected to racism and segregation. But too many people may not grasp the degree to which Christian Nationalism's ultimate aim is a non-democratic, Christian-supremacist America, and the startling degree to which it's making progress.
In support of this, Partland shows us copious clips of wild-eyed rants by Evangelical heavy hitters stating these aims in no uncertain terms. A comedic highlight comes when, in the midst of one of the movie's many montages of preachers bleating and screeching, we see Robert Jeffress say, with a straight face, "We cannot be silent any longer!"
Partland also works to debunk some of Christian Nationalism's favorite falsehoods, notably that America was intended by the Founders as a "Christian Nation" or that the Separation of Church and State is not found in the Constitution. Attorney and author Andrew Seidel observes here that true religious freedom is impossible without Separation of Church and State.
By way of emphasizing its urgency, the movie also notes that Christian Nationalists were central agents of the January 6 Insurrection, despite the irony of President 45 as the object of their veneration. "When I was a young Evangelical minister," notes Faith and Action founder Rob Schenck, "we used Donald Trump as a sermon illustration for everything a Christian should not be."
God & Country shares a twofold difficulty with many other worthy progressive political documentaries. First, though well-organized and smoothly edited, it's full of unavoidable footage of the likes of Ralph Reed, Jerry Falwell, Paul Weyrich, Greg Locke, Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker, Kenneth Copeland and Paula White, not to mention 45 himself, that can be painful for many of us to watch no matter how necessary. Secondly, many of the people who most need to see this movie probably won't watch it. To employ a more than usually apt cliché, it's preaching to the choir.

If you were ever curious about what the inside of a silencer looks like, this is a picture of my very dirty old school Advanced Armament Corporation Ti-Rant 45 silencer. It needed cleaning pretty badly; this is what it looked like after about 1000 rounds, perhaps a bit more. I had to persuade the baffles to come out with a wooden dowel and some gentle tapping with a hammer. I’ll be spending my Sunday afternoon sipping scotch and picking the carbon off these silencer baffles.

Harvey: *just trying to vibe at the Stardrop Saloon*
Shane: *almost unconscious in the corner*
Elliott: *dancing on a table*
Farmer: *is covered in blood and rock dust*

Harvey: And I wheezed so loud that Maru throught I got hurt.
─────────────────────
Harvey: Pardon the intrusion, but-
Shane: On this moment or just my life in general?

─────────────────────
Shane: I think I need a hug...
Elliott: Then it's a good thing I'm hug shaped!
*45 minutes later*
Shane: You uh, you can let go now.
Elliott: No, I absolutely can not.
─────────────────────
Shane: Guys, there’s a monster under my bed and it’s really fucking ugly.
Elliott on the bottom bunk: Screw off Shane.

Farmer: Every zoo is technically a petting zoo unless you’re a coward.
Harvey: I’m VERY worried about you.
Shane: Hey, that lion looks pretty friendly and like they need a good pat.
Elliott: Shane no-
─────────────────────
Elliott: I'm hot, I’m tall, I'm gay, and I'm on my theatre kid arc once again.
─────────────────────
Anyone who meets Shane: Are you this rude to everyone?!
Shane: Yes.
Shane: Don't think you're special because of it, now leave me alone.
─────────────────────
Elliott: *stands in the middle of the ocean with his clothing on*
Harvey: *visibility cringing inwards on the ground*
Shane: ...
Shane: I'm joining him-
Harvey: DON'T YOU DARE-
─────────────────────
Elliott: Hello doctor! I've come to ask for for one of your Fever tests.
Harvey slowly turning around: Fever... test...?
Maru: *audibly laughing from another room*
─────────────────────
Elliott: You know, I learned that urinating on a jellyfish sting can help alleviate the pain it causes!
Shane: So, piss on the jellyfish?
Harvey, who is struggling to not go on a rant about how incorrect that is and why is wouldn't work: Don't piss on the jellyfish please...
─────────────────────
Shane: The doctors can small fear...
─────────────────────
Elliott: You know, chlorine is just pool spice...
Shane:
Shane: Ok that's enough for today-

JC attempts to rationalise away WWXs sexuality
Tumblr media
For some strange reason, some people seem to take JC's comment below as gospel. Assuming that because he said this, WWX couldn't possibly have had feelings for LWJ in his first life - which of course, is ludicrous.
Just as WWX uses self deception as a coping mechanism, JC uses denial to try and rationalise things that make him uncomfortable or he does not wish to acknowledge. So, when he states the below, he is still in complete denial that WWX might have had feelings for LWJ.
Chapter 88
He’d never thought that Wei WuXian would have ambiguous ties with a man, for after all, when they grew up together, Wei WuXian had never expressed any such interest.
JC is lying to himself, because he still can't face the fact that WWX, someone he grew up with, might be anything other than straight or have feelings for a man. But deep down, he knows that this is simply not true. As I have already covered in a previous post, JC had suspicions about WWX's feelings towards LWJ since the very beginning. So, just to disprove his little rant above, lets take a look at all of the times WWX expressed he did indeed have 'such interests' in a man - right in front of JC. Obviously there are many other times WWX flirts or thinks about LWJ, but these are just the ones that were noticeable to JC.
So mentioning how pretty/handsome LWJ is three times in one conversation isn't showing any signs of interest, eh JC?
Chapter 13
Wei WuXian made the sound of an oh and asked, “Is he a lad who looks quite pretty?” Jiang Cheng sneered, “Is there anyone who looks ugly in the GusuLan Sect? His sect doesn’t even accept disciples with unclean features. If you can, find me one who has an average face.” Wei WuXian emphasized, “Very pretty.” He pointed at his head, “White from top to bottom, wearing a forehead ribbon, and carrying a silver sword on his back. He looked rather handsome, but with his straight face, he looked like he was mourning.”
.
Or the other times when JC was listening...
Chapter 17
Wei WuXian smugly tossed the loquat in his hand, and suddenly pointed at him, “Sisters, do you think that he looks handsome?” Lan WangJi didn’t expect Wei WuXian to suddenly talk about him at all.
...
Chapter 125
“Shijie, do you know Lan WangJi?” Jiang YanLi, “I do. He’s that Second Young Master Lan whom everyone describes as handsome and talented, isn’t he? Is he really that handsome?” Wei WuXian, “He is!”
...
Chapter 69
Jiang Cheng glanced at the colorful sea of handkerchiefs waving on the watching towers before turning to Wei WuXian, “Why are you throwing out flowers along with the girls?” Wei WuXian, “I think he looks nice. Can’t I throw a few as well?”
Not to mention throwing flowers at him, 'just like the girls'. Or the other gifts JC must have noticed WWX trying to give LWJ, like the loquat and the rabbits.
Or what about all the times JC caught WWX gravitating towards LWJ and chasing after him, even if he was being ignored...
Chapter 14
Everyone knew that their shouts were a bit too loud, and the noise had probably led him over, so they all shut their mouths. Yet, Wei WuXian jumped down and gravitated toward him, “WangJi-xiong!” Lan WangJi turned around and immediately walked away. Wei WuXian cheerfully went after him and yelled, “WangJi-xiong, wait for me!
...
Chapter 45
To Wei WuXian, the boy felt a bit familiar. After he thought for a while, he finally remembered and greeted the boy with enthusiasm, “Hey! WangJi-xiong, it’s you!”
...
Chapter 51
Within these past few days, there were many times when Wei WuXian wanted to approach him and catch up on what had been happening. However, Lan WangJi turned away whenever he saw him and Jiang Cheng had also beat it into him not to mess around. Now that they were closer, he couldn’t help but pay more attention.
...
Chapter 71
Wei WuXian, “How did you know that it was me who called him over first?” Jiang Cheng, “Do you even have to ask? Which time has it not been you? You’re a strange one as well. Clearly every time you part with him on bad terms, so why do you keep on trying to get him annoyed?”
.
Remember all the times WWX was trying to get LWJs attention however he could...
Chapter 16
He spoke, “Lan Zhan, I didn’t splash water on you on purpose. Water ghouls are really clever. If I said it out loud, they would’ve heard it and got away. Hey, don’t ignore me. Why don’t you look at me, Second Young Master Lan?"
...
Chapter 45
As Lan WangJi walked toward the entrance of the GusuLan Sect, Wei WuXian sneaked over before he could. Lan WangJi shifted to the one side, and he shifted to the side as well; Lan WangJi moved to the other side, and he moved to the other side as well. In short, he simply refused to let Lan WangJi pass.
...
Chapter 69
Wei WuXian turned to the Two Jades of Lan, who were drawing their bows on their horses, “Lan Zhan, want to help me?” Lan WangJi glanced at him. He didn’t reply. JiangCheng asked, “What are you up to this time?” Lan WangJi, “What?” Wei WuXian, “Can I borrow your forehead ribbon?”
.
Or maybe the time JC caught WWX thinking about LWJ, even after nearly a year of not seeing him?
Chapter 125
Wei WuXian grabbed another piece, “Nothing! Don’t misunderstand. I’m not gonna do anything. I just thought of someone.” Jiang Cheng, “Who?” Wei WuXian, “Lan Zhan.”
...
Chapter 125
Wei WuXian put his right hand above his brows, taking in the scenery. Amid the laughter, he let out a sigh. The others asked, “What’s wrong, Da-Shixiong?” “You’re sighing even when girls are chasing after you?” Wei WuXian swung the paddle onto his shoulder, grinning, “It’s nothing. I was just thinking that I invited Lan Zhan in all sincerity to come visit Yunmeng, yet he still dared to decline the offer.”
.
Or how about the fact WWX invited LWJ to come and visit? I don't see NHS getting an invite...
Chapter 125
Wei WuXian spat out a seed, “It’s fun to think of him. You don’t even know—he’s just too amusing. I told him, ‘Your sect’s food is disgusting. I’d rather eat stir-fried watermelon peel than eat your food. If you have time, come have fun with us at Lotus Pier…'”
.
Or maybe the time WWX suggested JYL names her unborn child after the man he is so obviously pining for...
Chapter 75
“Sure. The next generation of the LanlingJin Sect is named Ru. How about Jin RuLan?” Jiang YanLi, “That’s great!” Jiang Cheng, “No. It sounds like Jin RuLan, Lan being the Lan from the Lan Sect. Why should a descendant of the LanlingJin Sect and the YunmengJiang Sect be like someone of the Lan Sect?” Wei WuXian, “It’s not like there’s anything wrong with the Lan Sect, is there? The Lan flower is the gentleman of flowers; the Lan Sect is the gentlemen of people. A good name.”
WWX never acted like this with anyone else. Not even with any of the girls he's supposedly charmed. The only person he's ever acted like this with is LWJ. As I've explored in a previous post, seeing the way WWX acts around LWJ makes JC feel uncomfortable. Hearing the way WWX talks in a coquettish tone with LWJ, as opposed to his usual more boisterous tone with others, makes JC feel strange and he detests it.
No one could really blame WWX for holding back as much as he could around JC when it came to LWJ, especially with JCs growing homophobia and the environment he grew up in. In fact, it's probably one of the reasons why WWXs feelings are on a subconscious level, because Lotus Pier would not have been a pleasant place to live if JC suspected anything. But even with that in mind, WWX still inadvertently showed JC signs he was interested in LWJ from the minute they met.
We can only imagine what WWX would have been like if he'd actually accepted his feelings and felt safe enough to express them in front of JC and others when he was younger!
So from the above, we can clearly see JC not only had a suspicion WWX had feelings for LWJ - but he also got to see a number of signs to suggest as such, first hand as well.

please take my random mischa bachinski headcanons
he LOVES horror video games. especially five nights at freddy’s, phasmophobia and outlast. he likes making members of the choir play with him (Penny and Ricky are the only ones that can play them without screaming every 5 seconds)
the only games he’s played and really hated are subnautica and fallout. the second mainly because he hates seeing the effects of radiation and infection.
he’s really close with Constance. she was the first one to really show him kindness when he moved to uranium, and also was his chemistry lab partner.
Constance is the only reason he passed math because she would always give him her homework, and in return he’d help her with essays.
and on that topic Mischa is such a language arts/english kid!!! Loves reading short stories (specifically horror anthologies) and is into a lot of older folk tales (beowulf and the like)
he’s also really into robots?? (like mentioned his song and loves transformers movies and stuff) he loves the mechanics of them and says that he “gladly accepts Alexa and Roomba as our robot overlords” mostly as a joke, and mostly to piss off Ocean
if there was a robotics club you KNOW he’d be president (Ricky as his vice)
he used to keep his hair long, about to his shoulders. parents made him cut it before his senior year. after he cut it he still kept all his hair ties in his bag or on his wrist just in case a member of the choir needed one.
he has a little sister. shes twelve, but was supposed to be his older sister. she’s a lot nicer to him than his parents and Mischa loves her so much.
he knows how to braid because of said sister. he really loves doing it to the girls in choir. (penny loves when people play with/braid her hair so. win win)
he also knows extensive my little pony lore because of her
he LOVES swimming. one of the kids has a swimming pool, and he always comes over to swim to clear his mind.
he used to only watch horror and big blockbusters, but movie nights with the chorus and specifically hanging out with Noel has opened his horizons a lot. (turns out he really loves rocky horror picture show)
Noel also got him into drag race and he gets. Intense about it. treats the finales like the super bowl. (cried when Katya lost all stars)
the core of Ocean and Mischa’s beef stems from the fact that she’s a Taylor Swift girlie and he’s a Kanye West girlie. He’s not even that invested in the drama between the artists like Ocean is, but one day she ranted about the lore and hidden messages in Reputation for close to 45 minutes and he almost snapped.
can you guys tell who my favorite character is it’s kinda hard to tell idk
