Eye-catchers at the Thrifts
Stuff I did not buy but that still caught my eye. Mostly fantasy books and one infobook that had a really bad online rating which made me avoid it. I am not familiar with any of these but either the title looked interesting orthe coverart gave promise;
Elvenblood
A Rumor of Dragons
The Dragon at War
The Dragon Revenant
The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs- A New History of a Lost World
The Invisible Library
Seeds of Yesterday
Flowers in the Attic
If There be Thorns
Garden of Shadows
I definitely think I dodged a bullet for The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, since even just sampling some of the reading gave me the same criticisms I read in the online reviews of it. All the books in this list from the Seeds of Yesterday onwards I've only just been able to look up online at the time of this post and despite how tantalizing the book titles sound by names alone I don't think those 4 books are the right kind/genre for me tbh.
Of these eyecatchers, Elvenblood (half cause the coverart and half cause I've seen this book the thrift MULTIPLE occasions), The Dragon at War, and The Invisible Library still pique my curiosity, but not enough that I'd want to necessarily buy said books without actually getting to read them at a library first (assuming that my local library even HAS these books).
Still hoping some books from my younger days of reading eventually come up while thrift searching, like any of the Dragonriders of Pern books, Dinotopia, Jurassic Park, The Pit Dragon Triology, or among the younger age demographic The Guardians of Ga'hoole.
I'll keep scanning over the shelves whenever I visit the thrifts until I score some of the ones I'm really after. It's only a matter of time and luck.

â Locket â
Author's Note: In between doing assessments right now...sad, worried, frightened, but today I saw another heart locket at a vintage wares shop and thought of a fic idea on the way back home. This takes place when they're a lil more comfortable together as a couple but they haven't fully moved in yet!
Eyecatcher.
If there was one word to describe their eccentric sense of style that would be it. They would come to work to just draw or write, occasionally even lend a small hand or foot in the blueprint of this little hell, and they would still be wearing something adorned with frills or ribbons, or some kind of lace that could easily tear if not careful around such a sharp house like this. Even so, the master of the house didn't question what her guest would come in wearing. It was their money once it was out of her wallet and they could spend it on whatever funny attire they could find around town.
I mean, have you even seen what she regularly wears?
However, sometimes the little expenses get out of hand. Lesley worries about the money she's given them and where it goes to. Well of course it goes to their rent, their food, their transportation, etc.
And then it goes to bling.
One day, she remembers seeing them wear pearl chokers. They were in a lovely cream color, but they were gigantic beads you could barely even see The Illustrator's neck when they were wearing them. She took it off the poor thing after she noticed them struggling to breathe as they bent their neck typing out an itinerary. Lesley could not help but mother them over such a toy. It's choking you she claims. Honestly, it's a bit much on top of your silly earrings she comments. Maybe wear them when we go out instead of wasting them in the dark? she attempts at reasoning with them.
On another occasion they wore a silver necklace with a glass Saturn charm on it. It had little rhinestones that shone when they were under the attic's stained glass window. Lesley would curiously come closer to see it, but the Illustrator pulled away, almost embarrassed to show it. Oh it's thrifted they stutter. And a bit pricey they exclaim. Okay! They're fake! they admitted. Why was it such a big deal to this silly doll? Lesley wondered. It was just a pretty piece of glass. Who cares if it's fake?
While the Illustrator definitely had their favorites (strawberry themed ones, of course), Lesley had grown tired and maybe a tad bit concerned about the rotating door of necklaces and earrings. Where are they getting all of that? And more importantly, do I do something?
Maybe it's motherly instinct. The Illustrator had definitely tapped into her softer side, including this repressed kind of concern for another person. Who cares if the Green One eats too many pound cakes, but also I care if my girlfriend may be being a little irresponsible with their money.
Still, these frills do look good on them. She likes it when they wear a bow on their short hair. They look like a wrapped cake that way. Or whenever they would wear rings. She's found herself stopping by Sunday markets to look at rings they might possibly love.
Her favorite genre of jewelry though are the heart shaped ones. They have a glass bead heart charm that glistens into its own rainbow in the light. It was adorable to point out they have more color than pink during noontime. They also have earrings that are these big plastic hearts that don't quite fit on your ear. They were like hoops. It looked funny and looked well with their more casual wear.
The Illustrator (maybe) doesn't seem to have a lot of heart shaped jewelry. Although it looks especially adorable on them, Lesley resisted the temptation to enable their frivolous habits. But what other shape is there to describe them? Soft and round, warm, and open: to her they were like what the shape symbolized. Love.
Love as a shape.
Love as a tangible thing.
Love as a human.
Her gloves were bloodied. It was an exciting day at the Dollhouse. A squeamish adventure that leaned heavily on the physical humor than the mental horror. Lesley preferred the latter as a subject in her work, however today's story was just a little too exciting. Too exciting in fact that the two house masters had to spend a bit more time scrubbing the keys and the playset clean for tomorrow's job. After the tiring closing shift, the Illustrator opted to sleep with her that night instead of walking back home. They both crawled to Lesley's old room in the house upstairs sighing in relief as they laid on the fresh mattress. It was not completely new, of course, but it was a lot more comfortable and pillowy. It was clean and white, dressed up in a nicely knit bedsheet. Lesley proudly looked at her partner who was taking in the comfort of the bedding. She rolled herself closer to give them a kiss when her wrist felt a cold metallic object on their neck. From the reflection of the streetlamp she guessed it was the glass planet necklace again. Her fingers traced its silhouette and she realized it was a heart necklace. A heart locket necklace.
Lesley's low chuckle alerted her half awake darling.
"What's in this, Dolly Cake?" She inquired.
The Illustrator laid their hands on her still damp gloves and gently pushed them away.
"Well don't tarnish it." They said "I just bought this"
Still, she curiously crept her hands up her lover's chest to reach the charm- like a predator carefully crawls to its prey. As her hands got warmer and warmer, the Illustrator blushed and covered it with their own hands.
"But who is in it?" Lesley asked. Selfishly, she thought, of course it's me. However, she realizes there's no way they've gotten a photo of her without a face mask. Unless it's an awkwardly cropped photo of her looking like she has a cold. Or maybe it's a photo of one of her plushes. A photo of a stack of pancakes? A photo of a star?
"Mmmhhh...well...how about this. On the possibility it's the obvious, how would you react?" They whispered.
"I would feel flattered. But that's nothing out of the ordinary to you, would it?"
The Illustrator snorts. They nod as they unshield the charm from their partner, getting breathy and flustered as they felt her hands close to their chest and neck. The intimacy of bloodied hands gently unclasping a secret in a dark room with nothing to hear but their breaths and a fan.
Clink.
It opens.
Lesley's eyes widen. It is indeed a photo of her. Yet it's different. No patches. No scars. No wrinkles. Human. There's a soft pang in her chest as she looks back at the dimmed image of her younger self. She tries to shake the feeling off knowing The Illustrator doesn't intend or never intends what she's guessing.
"Where...did you get this photo?"
The Illustrator looks up nervously, still blushing profusely. They stutter.
"Designer's Digest London August 1989"
"You went out of your way to find a photo of me unmasked, huh?"
The Illustrator nods.
"Well..thank you for keeping me with you like that. Especially in a heart shaped locket." Lesley sleepily acclaims as she messily misses to kiss their lips "Hearts look cute on you."
"Thank you too, Honey." They sleepily reply, leaning up to kiss them too. They don't miss.
After a few moments of giggling and kissing, the two finally let themselves rest.
"Tell you what"
"Mmmh?"
"You and I get photos done at a photo box"
"Mmmm..."
"And you take me to where you bought that necklace."
"Mm..mmm.."
"I'd like a heart too."

28/09/2024-Horseweed, a distant shot of Wigeons, Lapwings, Coot and possibly Redshank and Curlew looking into Stanpit Marsh from the head, wild raddish which I enjoyed seeing today and one of the star butterflies of a few great ones seen on a Saturday on the coast for the second week running Small White from a walk from Hengistbury Head to Southbourne and back today.
Other highlights of the great time out today were fantastic views of pristine Painted Ladies, radiant Small Coppers, Red Admirals, top views of Large Whites too, Silver Y, Light Brown Apple moth, Common Green Lacewing which is always fascinating to see, a stunning Dartford Warbler view, a few Stonechats, House Sparrows, Turnstone, Blackbird, Lesser Black-backed Gull, seaside daisy, dock, white clover, eyecatching scarlet pimpernel, honeysuckle, thrift, groundsel, rock samphire and parasol mushrooms. In some top time on a fine sunny morning at home I enjoyed seeing Woodpigeons and Collared Doves including together and Magpies.

spidersona-june day 05: suit up!
Tezz bought costumes from the nearest thrift store and crafted a black and yellow outfit - insulated, moveable, eyecatching. as they spent more time wearing it, the fabric picked up golden particles. now it shimmers in the faintest light, and sometimes tezz swears it projects an illusion before tezz themself can spin one up between their fingers. they covered the back of their glasses with their golden webs, too. in every picture and video, their face is an indistinct blur.

Rubs my hands together and then slaps the names of all your TVC OC muses down on the table. Give Us Halloween Facts!!! // @teardownheaven
Candel Silverio: Victoriana chic! It's not her standard look at all, stiff ruby brocade and deep gorgeous midnight shades, but Halloween is a busy time for the Mystic Alley. She has to as much dress for the occasion as dress to impress, to sell a story and an eyecatch for her little shop. The spooky old world madame of her dominion of back rooms and candlelit parlors. She's in a lush evening gown with lace elements and a corset that's made of real bone -- but please don't ask after what creatures bones make the inner workings. Bonus is her alligator familiar is curled up in her little bed with a novelty headband festooned to her head. She's a kitty cat!
Josette St. Yves: Going full drag! Has the drawn on stubble, has the shaded adams apple, has the shoulder pads and the slicked back hair and is just selling it. Like her bestie the aforementioned Candel, is going for a more historic look, with matching brocade vest and a long coat the color of sin. The dandy to Candel's noble lady. If you detect in her Vampire verse that she's imitating her 'older brother' slightly, no the fuck you do not. She's not here to sell anything or impress, she's just in town to have some fun and take her oldest friend out for a drink once the shop closes down. Probably has on some era extant accessories courtesy of her Maker.
Karin Lindholm: She's working tonight. She's got responsibilities. Halloween is a fucking nightmare on the Island. Don't ask her to dress up. She's going to do it anyway, but don't ask her to do it. It has to be done spur of the moment as she's throwing her clothes on. Cream button up blouse, dark pants, overlapping dual belts, high riding boots, an old capelet and most importantly, a single earring. No one has any idea what in Hell she is supposed to be. This was a calculated risk she took and she is hilariously bad at math. Only asks if someone has read Mistborn once before feeling too cringe to ask again. Don't worry about her outfit. None of you know what a Vin is.
Kris Lindholm: To the shock of absolutely no one, Lestat. However, she's very proud of herself this year, as a lot of the outfit is either thrifted or DIY'd. Shes becoming a real punk step by step. Spent several evenings at her bestie Mahmoud's house borrowing his mom's sewing machine to get the velvet coat made. It walks a fine line between the iconic Tom Cruise 'Interview' look and some of the in-universe 'IRL' Lestat's music video ensembles. It's everything she ever wanted in a look, but her hair's going to be begging for mercy between the bleaching dyeing and color correcting and then curling it for the authenticity. She's also gone heavy on the contour and makeup effects. Who is she.
Susan Howard: Susan is 50+ years old. Susan is a professional and a fearsome hunter of the undead. She does not have time to dress up for it. If anything, she's spending a night in, drawing up plans and having a festive spicy drink. She's in her knit sweatpants, a half-buttoned flannel, and a lovingly woven old shawl from another life. Her hair is pulled up into a utilitarian bun with a pen forgotten at the base. She's poised over her desk, reviewing building plans, cross-referencing historical records, the sounds of a classic horror movie totally ignored but whispering away from another room. It's simultaneously cozy dark academia and subtly offputting, the whole vibe of her rented room at odds with itself.
Yalizaveta Molyboga: Naughty nun. It amused her. She's played many roles in her time and costumes are a strange sort of comfort to her, her nightly haircut hidden away under a wimple and her marble thighs exposed to the cool night air. She was never Catholic in life, and was turned as a scrawny serf girl, so she has no real idea why she chose this, but she's having fun. Moving among living rabble jubilating in the streets, Vieta's having a fun time herself, just enjoying the vibe and roaming part. On several occasions she has offered passerby 'Body of Christ' via a shot glass and the contents of a vodka bottle strapped to her waist. Sufficed to say, she's a hit and a features on social media feeds throughout the night.

Hey! do you have any hcs about what the main six would wear now? Like modern clothes I guess lmao. Love your blog!
I DO I DO, i have all of them planned out in my head. i have this one friend who dresses and basically is EXACTLY like i imagine asra to be if he were our age. hope you enjoy!! this is kind of a continuation of my other modern au headcannons just cause that easier for my â¨imagination⨠part 2 will come along shortly :)
Main three ~ clothing style modern AUÂ
Asra
Asraâs everyday outfits consist of slim pants and a funky patterned blouse. The blouse HAS to be opened to reveal his entire chest. He pairs this look with a nice eyecatching belt, scarf or big pendant around his neck (or all three). His regular shoes are mismatched vans or a pair of leather sandals.
Items in his closet:
a shit ton of rings and necklacesÂ
several skinny corduroy pants in multiple colours.Â
vans with interesting patterns, only one of each.
lots of neutral-toned but weird patterned blouses and kimonoâs
the type satin scarf you can find in any thrift store.Â
( I cannot find any full body reference pics without exposing myself hngghnhgn)
Nadia
Nadiaâs style is very sophisticated. Itâs professional but still screams âboss as bitchâ. As the CEO of a big company, she has to look impeccable, respectable and on-brand at all times. Think along the lines of Victoria Beckham and Meghan Markle, but with more satin and creamier colours.Â
Items in her closet:
A whole lot of pantsuits, jumpsuits and pantalons.Â
A big collection of heels and shoes. They look simple at first because of the calm colours but there's plenty of looks to choose from.
Quite a few silk blouses and merino wool sweaters.Â
Absolutely beautiful long overcoats and jackets.
A vanity filled with minimalistic golden jewellery and brand makeup\\
outfits:
Julian
Julian's style is inspired by gentleman's attire but he adds a whole other level of extra and dramatics. Gloves, long coats, walking canes, oxford lacquered shoes. all of it. He keeps to a rather simple, black, grey, brown colour scheme and occasionally adds a bit of colour. He doesn't shy away from a nice turtleneck, a good scarf and a nice fitted pair of trousers either. Basically Bastiaan Ninaber in his robb report shoot.Â
Items in his closet:
Some of the PRETTIEST long coats you have ever seen, I mean, to die for.
A variety of complete suits, and nice trousers.Â
A collection of gloves, chunky rings and watches.Â
Quite some nice dramatically decorated walking canes.Â
Oxford shoes
Outfits:
(can you guys tell i got excited for julianâs ?)

Shopping. BTS
Masterlist
Seokjin
Would you be a bad girlfriend, if you abandoned your boyfriend? Probably. But he was making it hard for you to stay with him. He picked up every piece of clothing, pretty or ugly didnât matter here, and tried them on. Fair enough, other people would look bad in them, while he rocked everything. And it was funny at the beginning, sure. But five hours into shopping with Jin, you were tired of seeing ugly sunglasses and pink shirts. âJust buy anything!,â you finally exploded, when he shoved another pink item into your face.Â
âI wonât buy, okay!,â he responded just as annoyed as you. He had noticed your bad mood since store number 15 or 16, but this didnât stop him from being playful. He thought his acts would make you feel better.Â
âWe touched everything in every store, donât expect me to be all smiles, when you never buy anything,â you tried to calm down.Â
âYou never tell me your opinion, of course I donât buy things, when all you say is good, great and pretty without meaning it,â he imitated you with a annoyingly high voice.Â
âSorry, that I canât do thousand reviews for the thousand things you try on,â your attempt on staying calm failed.
âYou donât even laugh, when I put ugly things on though!,â he complained.Â
âBecause you donât look funny, you look good in everything!,â you said a little too loud, two teenage girls stared at you and then at Jin, who was smitten by the compliment he had lured out of you.Â
âReally? You think so? So I can buy the sunglasses from the last store?,â he blushed a little, as if you never fought.
âNo, not those. Those were just ugly.â
Yoongi
It was a first that he asked you to go shopping. He always ordered online, never got out to actually try things on and buy them. You were excited that you would walk around in the mall, maybe grab some coffee and hold hands the whole time.
But of course, that didn't happen. Yoongi rushed into the basic section in h&m and grabbed the same white and black shirts, he owned.
"I need new ones and delivery is taking too long," he plainly said and walked to check out already. You didn't follow him though, picked up bright pink and green shirts in his size. When he finally noticed your absence he walked back.
"Let's go," he told you and waved with his hands. You simply shrugged your shoulders and looked for matching hats. "We have no time," he rushed you, but still grabbbed the pieces out of your hand.
"You have nothing to do, let's go on a date," you whined when he put the clothes back," Hey, I wanted to buy them for you!"
"As if I would wear that." He held up the green shirt from earlier. It wasn't exactly his style, but he bored you with his all black outfits sometimes.
"Then I'm not coming."
"Sure, stay here then," he only responded. You sometimes acted as if you didn't know your boyfriend, of course he would leave you behind.
"Buy me at least some coffee!" He finally nodded at that, and grabbed the pink shirt last second. "You can wear this," he said and went to pay.
Hoseok
He would end up being poor one day. His clothes were just so expensive, you didn't understand how his heart didn't hurt paying these prices. My hands would shake at least, you thought. But no, Hoseok paid without even grimacing a little. Rather, he smiled.
"I finally have every color," he said happily and hugged the huge bag with shoes. The shoes that costed him a frw hundred dollars, but were kind of ugly in your opinion. Not that you would tell Hoseok. The shoes looked like from a different century and used, but Hoseok just had to have them.
"I have an idea where to shop next!" His preference reminded you of an old thrift shop, you saw a few days ago. This way maybe he would save some money, but still get some clothes he liked.
He couldn't complain, even though he wanted to explore other overpriced boutiques, because you always followed him quietly. "Okay, let's go." But he couldn't hide his shock, when he saw the sign of the shop.
"Trust me," you assured him. And you were right, after the shock disappeared, Hoseok found his new paradise. The oversized jackets looked like some designer clothes and there were the most extraordinary sunglasses and hats on display.
"Babe, I found heaven. And only paid 500." Yes, he still spent hundreds, but at least for a lot of pieces. But he would learn, for sure.
Namjoon
What does the author want to say in these lines? You suddenly remembered those words from school, when you looked at the pieces Namjoon picked in his favorite store. He thought of fashion as a way to express himself, but did he really need every color of the spectrum in such a tiny space? The shirt was weird, a little off from his usual style, but Namjoon still stared at it.Â
âAre you sure you like the design or the designer?,â you asked him when the owner of the shop left you two alone. He and Namjoon were besties. Well, anyone would be besties with Joon, when he left hundreds there every week for pieces that looked like it was done in five minutes. On drugs.Â
âIt will look great with the pants I bought last month.â It was shocking how Namjoon remembered every thing he bought. He would suddenly mention hats or shoes from last year and style them. When he was passionate about something, he was unstoppable.Â
âI donât think it looks great,â you repeated yourself. Maybe you were tired or just not as brave as he was with fashion. But Namjoon insisted on his purchase, and told you to wait for the outfit.Â
And he was right. Mixed with dull colors, the shirt was almost really really good. It wasnât as eyecatching as you remembered it, it matched his body and skin color.Â
âYou should trust me more,â he said, when he catched you admire his outfit,âSoon, Iâll style you as well.â
Jimin
Itâs a well know fact, that Jimin was the gentleman of all gentlemen. So shopping with him was just a dream. He was that kind of boyfriend, that took your purse without a word, paid for everything, still allowed you to buy coffee or little things, so you didnât feel bad, and always complimented you. Even when you looked just aweful. But as he was a bad liar, you understood. And tortured him for lying so obviously.
âReally? I donât look fat in this dress?â You turned around and watched him closely. The fit was a catastrophe. The fabric hugged all the wrong places and made it look like you were swollen and pregnant.Â
âYou could never look fat, love,â he replied and tried to look horrified about your question. Or maybe he was horrified of your looks and didnât fake that one.
âAre you sure, so I can wear this to your parentâs place?,â you wanted to corner him into saying the truth.
âThis weekend?,â he asked and avoided your eyes,âI heard itâs gonna be cold that day, maybe you should pick something else.âÂ
âNo way, itâs perfect if you think I look okay.â You then walked into the fitting room, to pick out the jacket that was just as ugly as the dress. âIâll wear it like this, if I get cold.â And with that move, the boy broke down.
âOkay, I give up, you look terrible,â he confessed, defeated by your outfit.
âBe honest with me,â you took the jacket off with a shudder,âOne day I wonât realize and walk around like a pig or something.â
âA pretty pig at most.âÂ
TaehyungÂ
The best advertisement was this boy. He didnât even have to wear the things yet, people just followed him into stores. And when he tried something on, they believed that they could look as good as he did. Many were probably surprised, as the clothes turned into potato sacks at home, when it looked so elegant on Taehyung.Â
So obviously every designer wanted to work with him. But he still insisted on walking around in unknown indie stores, looking for gems. He made the same face as he did in galeries, looking for art pieces for his room or collection. Fashion was also art to him.Â
âAt this point, you should do your own clothing line,â you said, when you left a boutique. Taehyung was pretty close with the designer, they always discussed the next collections and Taehyung always let them do alterations he had in mind. They should credit him as a co-designer, you jooked sometimes.
âBut itâs easier this way,â he admitted with a grin,âAnd I like one-of-a-kind pieces way too much, to produce something for others.â
âWhat a selfish man,â you teased him,âYou are just too scared, that everything will be sold out, and you canât wear it anymore, right?â
âHow can you know me that well?,â he teased back.Â
âBut think about it, I bet you will be happy to see people wear your designs. Itâs like producing songs... for the body?â A light bulb lit up inside his head.Â
âThis is why I love you and your one-of-a-kind mind.â
Jungkook
"If the next piece you pick up is grey sweats, I'm screaming," you threatened Jungkook. His arms were already full with grey or black sportswear, but he didn't stop eyeing the same exact things again. You didn't understand how he still found joy in shopping, when he bought the same thigs over and over again.
"I wasn't going to," he scoffed and changed directions. Yea, sure. He walked into a section, you never dreamed Jungkook to walk in. He would never go in there by himself, so he looked awkward. His eyes wandered between different button ups, and he suddenly looked lost and tired.
"White suits you," you helped him out. He walked over to the corner with white clothes and touched a few pieces. âThis one,â he murmured with his tongue between his teeth, as he was stuggling with the other clothes in his hands. You helped him pick out the one he wanted. It was a pretty basic button up, with thin grey lines.Â
âIt looks like the one you wore last week,â he confessed quietly. It made you blush, that he remembered that, and you immediately regretted threatening him earlier.Â
âYou wonât look as good as me though,â you tried to hide your shyness.Â
âI never could.â You turned into a tomato with his comment, but as he didnât want you to feel uncomfortable, he added, âWell, you could never look that good in sportswear like me either, babe.âÂ
âYes, yes, we all have styles that match us better, but variety is always good, right?âÂ

Vintage fashion on the go
Hi everyone! ( @dongiovannitriumphantâ)Â
It can feel limited when you want to be historically correct. Â Looking through ebay or in vintage shops through high prizes can seem difficult but in fact the only thing needed to wear historical correct attire is the facination of history and the fashion through times. Just knowing what fabrics, shapes and ideals of a time, helps a lot in making an outfit without sacrificing authenticity. The 1920âies are interesting because world war I just happened and women are out working and not going back to the kitchen again. Itâs a time of booming enocomy which shows in luxurious new kinds of fabrics, eyecatching colors and most interesting, it gives space for playing around!. The body ideal for women changed drastically in the 20âs and that is very visible in their clothing. Its all about that hip! Having a masculine body is the goal, not being thin , but having a straight chest and a long body. To be more boyish women also either cut their hair (if they where really daring!) or got bangs in the front and sat their hair in low buns so it looked like it was short. You should look for a square shape where focus is on the hip in dresses. The length is depending on when in the 20âies you want to look either just above the ancle or at itâs highest just over the knees. Colorwise thing clear dramatic colors, new dying methods made these colors popular in this time. You can also make most loose dresses look more 20âs by adding a belt just around your hip, they did it back then too^^. When it comes to stockings you can really play too. Rayon was discovered and made it possible for normal people to wear stockings too. Lots of colors and shapes where worn to make the sexy legs even more visible.
Accesorizing is a good point aswell. In the 20âs the art genre âArt decoâ was very popular. It was modern with its geomitrical shapes and clear colors. No floating lines in the 20âs! You can use hats, everyone was wearing hats in these times and every woman had a cloche hat or fx a baret. Â Under the hat the hair was often sat in finger waves or other short looking doâs. Jewelery can also ad to the look, agian geomitrical shapes are your friend, but pearl necklaces where a hit too. They sat them in varios kinds of ways, like knots, to show redundancy.
In general just look through thrift stores, but also look what you allready have, could anyhting look a bit 20âies? Could you accesorize it to? Or perhaps you could make a few changes? Looking in your own closet can bring you a long way, sometimes you see that you already have a lot of good materials for historical clothing!
Hereâs some pictures^^ if you have any specific questions about the topic please ask ^^

mall + outlet shopping tips
more than half of my clothes are from the thrift shops, but every two months or so i do enjoy going to the mall or outlet to see if thereâs any sales or whatnot. the stores in malls that i usually go to are pacsun, vans, zuimez, urban outfitters, forever 21, h&m, hot topic, rue21, wet seal, and garage. here are some tips that have helped me save money and get the most out of my budget.
đ° have a budget đ°
⢠if you walk into the mall having a budget in mind of how much you want to spend, itâll benefit you when you leave the mall so you wonât regret not getting anything or spending too much at one store and whatnot.
đ° donât go to your favorite store first đ°
⢠assuming that most people have a favorite store, we usually gravitate towards that store first and end up forgetting all the other stores we wanted to go to. going to the store you shop at the most limits you to trying different stores and sometimes after you leave the store you just want to go home. itâs better to go to the stores that are your least favorite first, so you can cross those off the lists and also so you wonât regret not buying anything, especially if youâre not crazy about the store in the first place.
đ° always go to the clearance section first đ°
⢠we may be tempted to look at the racks of clothes that are in the front {workers purposely put eyecatching clothes towards the entrance stores to attract customers} but going to the clearance section first helps you to save money, and not just grab the first things we see or the BOGO 50% sale on shirts and shorts haha. which are good deals, but eventually once you leave the mall all the BOGO sales add up.
đ° is that similarÂż đ°
⢠sometimes when i come home from the mall, i look at the clothes i bought then look into my closet and drawer and think; wow those look similar. i donât know if itâs just me but i tend to buy things that look like something i already own. basically, the key point is to think before you buy. do you really need another pair of shorts that look similar to the ones you already ownÂż are you really going to get that hoodie even thou itâs julyÂż

Eye-catchers at the Thrifts
Stuff I did not buy but that still caught my eye. Manga/anime is a rarity in these parts so we're first starting with those.
Some good famous retros amongst the stuff but also some titles I'm not familiar with
The Demon Prince of Momochi House vol 1 & 2
MeruPuri Vol 2
Kiss of the Rose Princess Vol 1
Millenium Snow Vol 1 & 2
Inyuasha Vol 2
Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? vol 4 & 3 (Light Novel)
Kamen Tantei Vol 2
Ranma 1/2 Vol 11 and 15-17
Mega Manga- The complete Reference to Drawing Manga
Gate 7 Vol 2
Chaos Head the anime in blue ray
Was curious about Chaos Head but I don't have a blue ray player of any sort. Ranma 1/2 part of me wished I had gone for it but I know I always struggled to follow the anime so idk how much better I would fair with the manga (possibly worse since I can't enjoy Ranma's lovely red hair in black and white lol).
Only manga I've actively bought from thrift so far has been Samurai Champloo vol 1. Considering some of the retros that come through I can continue to hope I can stumble upon some retros / out of prints that I've been actively seeking (ex some of the last volumes of Chibi Vampire and I think the first Omnibus volume of Venus Versus Virus, and ANY of the +Anima volumes), you never know.

Photo
08/05/2023-PenningtonÂ
Pictures taken here in this photoset are of: 1 and 2. Some of a glowing group of Oystercatchers we saw well beside Lower Pennington Lane. 3, 9 and 10. Views on a quite blustery day. 4. Avocet, we got brilliant views of these iconic and eyecatching birds which was great today. 5. Mushrooms, possible sulphur tuft. 6. Another New Forest Pony foal on the way home. 7. A record shot of the stunning Long-billed Dowitcher on fishtail lagoon which I was thrilled to spot, a rustic, quite prehistoric looking and beautiful bird which I was amazed to see picking about behind grass on the lagoon and on grass at one point. This species was already one of my birds of the year having seen one in Norfolk in February the Cley bird and it felt fantastic to add a local one to that and was great to contrast with this one being in summer plumage whereas the Cley one we saw in winter plumage. Another brilliant birding moment this long weekend. It was good to share the sighting with a lady who we had a good chat with as we walked around butts and Pennington lagoons with her. 8. An Oak Eggar moth caterpillar, the first Iâd ever seen which was a delight to find, I saw the adult last summer so this was nice to observe.Â
Other highlights included a spring time quadruple perhaps for the first time this year seeing Swifts including epic views as they flew incredibly low, Swallows, House Martins and gorgeous Sand Martins. It was also great to see and hear Whitethroat well again and see Shoveler, Gadwall seen very well Iâm on a good run for them, Shelduck, Eiders, Tufted Ducks, ducklings definitely some Mallard and possibly some of another species, pretty dainty Dunlins, Great Black-backed Gulls, top views of enigmatic Ravens including I believe one seen off by territorial Avocets over the lagoon and Buzzard on a post. It was good to hear Reed Warbler and see my welcome first sea campion of the year, daffodils, thrift, vetch and seas of daisy and buttercup. Another amazing wild long weekend.Â

My most local thrift is a very small thrift, so seeing any books unrelated to religion/faith are always eyecatchers even if it's not a series you're after.
One of the days (like, a few weeks ago, this purchase was in fact that long ago too) in that small thrift there was an influx of fantasy books specifically by Terry Brooks. Sometimes you see a name enough times that you have to wonder if their works might be worth a look. According to reviews they seem to be specialized in one big fantasy world/series built upon a sci fi post-apocalypse?
Looked curious enough so I ended up grabbing one book that follows my Book Buying Rules; The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Triology. It's three books in one, you can't get more on-the-dot to the rules than that.
Here's to hoping it'll be worth the hype I saw in those reviews.
