Summary: How Tommy would go about being stuck in a slow burn with someone he's falling for.

Warnings: mention of death of grandmother, slight season 2 spoilers

A/N: I really enjoyed this request! umm…I’m not sure if these are 100% written like headcanons - I wrote them like I was spewing out ideas lol. Kacey Musgraves’s song Slow Burn was also running through my head while I was writing this, hence the title. Also how the hell do you actually spell headcanons?? Is there 1 ‘n’ or 2?? Lol . • (Y/N) was one of the few Shelby Company Ltd. employees that Tommy didn't hire. She was brought on board while he and the boys were off at one of the races. Polly saw the potential in her and immediately welcomed her into the company.

• when Tommy returned from said races, he was pleasantly surprised to meet her.

• and Polly clocked that immediately. She was able to tell by the lack of a fight - Tommy was always able to find something to pick at when she made decisions within the company, no matter how minuscule. But there was nothing to pick at with (Y/N).

• Polly also wasn't surprised to see (Y/N) completing more and more tasks that came directly from Tommy. They'd be tasks that Polly hadn't even known about...but for some reason Tommy trusted (Y/N) with them.

• (Y/N) didn't think anything different about it. She'd been hired into the company and one of her bosses was asking her to do things. That's what was supposed to happen, right?

• although she did find it odd that it was Tommy asking her to do these things when she'd originally been hired to help Polly with sorting out the books and the like.

• things persisted like that for a few months. (Y/N) would happily and eagerly help him with whatever he needed to have done around the company. He'd look out for her, making sure that she was happy in her position and just in general. And in return, (Y/N) would (try) to keep up the same for him. She'd show that in the smallest of ways and attempts, but he would notice. Over those few months and because of those small acts, Tommy's thoughts and feelings towards (Y/N) evolved.

• he can still remember the day when that switch began - because it haunted him every day after.

• she came into his office like it was any other day for her...but it wasn't any other day for Tommy.

• he'd been working under Campbell for a few weeks at that point, and it'd become apparent that he'd be dead at the end of the arrangement. Tommy wasn't afraid to die, but the thought of getting everything in order and making sure his family could go on without him was now plaguing his mind.

• so when (Y/N) asked him what he had for her to do today, Tommy rattled off his list without as much as looking up at her. He was fully expecting her to turn and exit the second he finished speaking.

• she didn't. Silence reigned for a moment or two before "are you ok, Tommy?" came quietly from her. This made Tommy look up, and when he did, all of the noise in his mind ceased. Sure he looked at her before - he'd looked up like this thousands of times, but he never saw her like he did when he looked up this time. It was this otherworldly experience that he'd only been through twice before. Which meant he knew exactly what was happening.

• even though he brushed her question off and told her that he was fine, he hoped that things wouldn't change between them.

• and thankfully they didn't because hell, Tommy Shelby was certain that he was falling in love.

• he began testing the waters carefully at first. (Y/N) was a good woman and he wasn't about to make her leave the company due to his actions. He couldn't stand to lose her.

• so he started by making sure she was being heard; by actually listening to her whenever she'd share ideas or tell him how things played out with what he'd asked her to do.

• then he emphasized making sure that she was safe - having blinders on her block, sticking around on the days where she and Polly would be in the shop tallying the winnings, and also personally offering to take her wherever she needed to go.

• (Y/N) reacted bashfully to these offers. She felt that the other company employees would think that she was getting special treatment or something — well...she kind of was...but she deeply appreciated Tommy doing these things.

• in regards to feelings, Tommy was putting his out there as best as he could (which, well I'll let you be the one to decide on how well that is) He really tried to make a more personal connection with her; to get to know her as her and not just another employee...and in turn he let her know him.

• (Y/N) stayed professional. He was one of her bosses after all. But she couldn't deny that she enjoyed being in his presence. Her friends found that crazy, too...how can she be happy to be spending time with Tommy Shelby? She swore it off as strictly work related until she couldn't anymore.

• the evening started like any other...(Y/N) went home after work with the intention of doing what she did every other evening. But something was waiting for her at home. Something that turned her world upside-down. She found out that her grandmother had passed away. The post had come and one of the letters was from a sibling of hers, sharing the news. She didn't know what to do.

• after exhausting all of her options, she found herself at the Garrison. Tommy had invited her there in the past, but she never accepted it due to wanting to stay professional.

• she asked around for him and the second she found out that he was in the snug, she made her way to it and opened the door. He was in there, but so were his brothers. "This was the last place I could think of," she blurted out. "Everyone out," was all Tommy needed to say before it was just the two of them in the room.

• (Y/N) quickly sat and let everything out. Tommy listened intently, something no one had ever done for her in the past. They sat in the snug for hours, (Y/N) talking and Tommy listening. Her ability to share her grandmother's story helped her immensely.

• from that evening, (Y/N) saw Tommy in a different light. The fact that he sat and listened to her as she lamented to him and not once did he even think of leaving meant the world to her. No one had shown her that sort of worthiness or attention.

• all at once it felt like she was head over heels for him. Like all of those little instances he'd shown her before had all culminated into this one, major display of devotion. It had her realizing that maybe it wasn't solely because she was his employee...maybe it was much more than that.

• and so when he went out of his way and made sure to check on her the next morning - she knew this because Polly commented on the fact that he was supposed to be in London by sun-up - and he couldn't get him off of her mind no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't beat around the bush anymore...she'd fallen for Tommy Shelby, hard.

• but things didn't hit off right from that moment.

• no, it took a rather long time for those feelings to actually come out.

• there was a lot of dancing around the other - the smaller gestures and moments still occurred, but neither one was willing to make that jump over the edge and confront the other about it.

• yes, you read that right...Tommy Shelby was actually keeping his feelings for her close to the chest.

• mostly it was because of the position they were in. He'd offer to take her to dinner and she'd politely decline (even though she really wanted to go) because she was worried the other company employees would suspect something.

• Tommy wasn't exactly into the dancing around it (he hated it at times actually), but he honored her choice.

• but that doesn't mean he wasn't taking every chance he got to spend time around her. To check in on her and see how things were. To walk her home if she stayed later. Anything to show her that he was serious...without actually saying that he was serious.

• he was hooked on her though, there was no doubt about it. All he needed was for her to really show that interest back to him, and then he'd know for sure that he could act on it.

• and then Polly's birthday came.

• the company/family decided to host a party at the Garrison. Of course (Y/N) was invited.

• a man named Louis was one of the men who worked the shop floor daily. He saw (Y/N) almost every day that she was also on the floor, and he made it a point to seek her out as well.

• much like with Tommy, (Y/N) kept things between her and Louis strictly professional.

• but this party is when Louis decided that he was going to make his move...to try and woo her.

• maybe he should have thought this through...

• (Y/N) was sitting at one of the tables, chatting with some of the other women who worked within the company. It was a surprise that she wasn't with Tommy, considering he sought her out almost immediately after she arrived. But Tommy was still present though.

• Louis had this plan to put everything right on the table. He smoothly walked over to her and, equally as smoothly, slipped into the booth that she was sitting in. (Y/N) was polite, but it was obvious that she wasn't feeding any more into it than a simple, friendly conversation.

• but of course Tommy didn't pick up on that. From where he was standing it looked like Louis was a little too close to her for comfort. So he quickly intervened.

• and he was anything but subtle with it. He was quickly able to make Louis feel uneasy and clear him out.

• (Y/N)'s confused, but happy to have the man she'd hardly talked to gone. She sends Tommy an appreciative smile and that's just about enough to bring Tommy to his knees. But that doesn't happen...instead he gives her one of his signature, lop-sided smiles and nods at the ladies sitting with her before going back to where he previously was.

• this interaction didn't go unnoticed though. Polly and Ada were watching from off to the side. These two know Tommy better than anyone, and they've rarely seen him react this quickly and in this sort of way. So it's glaringly apparent to them that something's going on here.

• and this becomes increasingly apparent as time goes on.

• also as time goes on, (Y/N) manages to move up in the company. She's basically right underneath Polly in terms of power, becoming her 'right hand man’ in the treasurer position.

• having this position means that she's more involved in the inner circle and is at all of the meetings.

• the entire family swears by the fact that Tommy is softer with her than he is with anyone else.

• you can literally see the change the second she shares her thoughts on a matter or even enters a room. The switch is practically on a dime.

• but these two keep dancing around each other - they've been doing it for close to a year at this point.

• and those who know of it are baffled. They are obviously in love with each other...why hasn't one budged and made things official?

• the suspicions on this topic all come to a climax on the first year anniversary of (Y/N) joining the company.

• Tommy invites her out to dinner. (Y/N) agrees this time mostly because she knows what day it is...and she knows that the Shelbys like to celebrate such things.

• but she's surprised when she arrives at the upscale restaurant and is escorted to a table for two. Tommy can't help but smile at the face she pulls when she sees that he's sitting there, waiting for her.

• but she gets comfortable very quickly. It's Tommy we're talking about here...she's never been more comfortable with anyone in her life if she was being honest. And the same goes for him too.

• the dinner lasts hours. They talk about everything and anything. Work's off the table, but yet they still manage to not have more than a moment of silence. Both are surprised at how freely the conversation flows.

• eventually Tommy brings up the subject they've been dancing around.

• he lays everything out on the table this time. There's no sense in holding back. He tells her how she makes him feel, how she's made him feel from the moment he first saw her.

• he also mentions the fact that he's felt this way for a while now, and that he can't continue dancing around it any longer. He honored her desire to stay professional for this time, but he wants her too much, loves her too much to keep going like this for even a day longer.

• at first (Y/N)'s shocked. She's not oblivious...she'd been catching the little hints that he'd been leaving all this time, but she was truthfully too hesitant to ever bring the subject up to him.

• but now that he's put it out there, she figures why should she hold back her feelings any longer?

• so she lays it all out for him as well. Tells him how she feels about him, how she's felt about him for some time now.

• Tommy can't contain his happiness as he hears this. He's grinning like a fool.

• so really there's only one last thing for them to do now...make it official.

• Tommy wastes no time in doing that.

• he asks her properly though. That's what she deserves, especially after all this time that's been invested.

• he stops them just down the road from where she lives. He tells her that he really likes her (he won't use the 'l word' just yet - even though the two of them are so clearly in love) and that he can't wait a moment longer to make her his.

• (Y/N) quickly agrees with the sentiment after everything that had been shared during their dinner.

• Tommy can't help but smile at her response, and he just barely nods his head in his Tommy fashion before continuing to walk her home.

• they share their first kiss at the front door, and it's absolutely magical.

• they then proceed to do a terrible job of hiding it while at work. Tommy's waited this long to be with her, he's not going hide his affection for her any longer.

• their definition of 'in secret' is soooo far from the actual definition. They think that they're being sneaky, only stealing kisses in empty hallways and in Tommy's office, but it takes Polly literally only two days to catch onto it.

• no ones upset with it though. Honestly everyone’s happy that they’re finally together.

• well everyone except Louis…Louis is a little bummed about the whole thing. But Tommy and (Y/N) don’t care about that in the slightest.

Fun facts about my Mouthwashing AU‼️

Act 1 :

- Fallacia called Daisuke Daisuki when they first met. Daisuke was either screaming or making fun of her for that.

- Fallacia always messes with Swansea, wherever he is, she'll make the wires sparked, activating the foam, slightly shake the walls, etc so it'll scare him. Like a niece messing with her uncle.

- Daisuke and Swansea's relationship crashed like the titanic. Swansea felt guilty, Daisuke thought Swansea was mad at him. They didn't speak to each other until after Daisuke killed Jimmy in Act 2.

- Fallacia's favorite person on the ship is clearly Anya. But Anya felt indifferent about her, later hating her gut. Daisuke saw her as a friend at first, but later on, he saw her as she is, just an AI. Swansea saw her as an annoying entity who never stopped bothering him.

- When it comes to games that have sabotaging mechanics, Fallacia makes sure to bomb all of her sabotage cards on Daisuke and steal his buff cards, so she'll be able to save Anya and get praise, Daisuke did the same, and Anya has always been the winner ever since, until she got busy organizing things.

- Fallacia always includes Curly in everything possible. Game night, ghost stories night, etc. She sang his favorite song (According to Daisuke) whenever Anya's late on giving him medicine to distracted him from the pain.

- Anya has to do the airplane thing to get Daisuke and SWANSEA to eat. They eat so she wouldn't look like a dumbass for nothing.

- At first, Daisuke scraped the foam and pretended to want to eat it to lighten up the mood. But at the end of Act 2, he started munching on it one day, making his gums and tongue bleed. Anya acts like she didn't notice it, hoping Fallacia would stop him for her. Doctors found he had serious health problems when they reached earth.

Act 2 :

- Fallacia kept winning in games because she's a computer. She always bluffs and gives pro tips to Daisuke just to give him gamer rage, not knowing it'll lead the unstable Daisuke to do something extreme.

- Fallacia knew immediately why Curly was dead. But she didn't tell anyone or did anything. (Parallel to Curly's action with Anya's situation.)

- Anya started saying things like "I can fix this." Or "I'm trying to save us here." like Jimmy. Swansea keeps having flashbacks.

- Anya always tells Daisuke that Curly's death is not his fault, not knowing what happened in the medical room when she was gone. Daisuke has never felt more guilty then.

- In Daisuke and Jimmy's fighting scene, I almost have Jimmy revealed being the one SAing Anya to Daisuke, giving Daisuke more motivation to kill Jimmy. But I changed it, because Jimmy wouldn't even think about it. (And also, it will kinda, somehow, and somewhat justify his action. He'll still be somewhat saner because at least he didn't kill an innocent person.)

- While Swansea and Daisuke were arguing about what he did, Anya was slicing Jimmy and serving his flesh to Daisuke. She crossed her arms as she orders him to eat it. Kind of like a punishment. He threw up immediately after one bite. Anya felt bad and couldn't bring herself to speak to him for two days after.

- They tied Daisuke up like this.

(It didn't choke him. But he can't stretch his arms long enough to hurt anyone.)

- After the incident, Fallacia decided to let him win in the game they played later on. But Daisuke cried so hard when he realized she was pitying him. They never played together again.

- Daisuke tried to hold his breath as often as possible to waste less oxygen.

- Fallacia disengaged herself whenever their insanity started acting up so she wouldn't learn these behavior from them.

Act 3 (& interview) :

- Daisuke once said "I wanted to live." out of the blue when he's alone with Swansea. And Swansea knows exactly what he meant.

- Their relationship never recovers properly. They just interact whenever Daisuke hallucinates and run to him for help. And Swansea content to axe air like a crazy old man every time if it's meant Daisuke will feel safe.

- When Kate first met the crew, she was convinced they were abusing Daisuke. But when she looked around and saw what was left of Curly and Jimmy in the freezer, she understood that they were all suffering, doing what it takes to survive.

- Kate untied him immediately when they let the ship go. He ended up trying to munch down most of the things on her ship but won't eat any food more than 3 bites.

- So Anya does her airplane thing again. Daisuke, wanting to save her face, he has to eat it. He will never forget the cringe he felt whenever it happens.

- Swansea insisted on carrying most of the remaining mouthwash into her ship to drink. He later died from them as the last things he saw was Anya's smile, Daisuke crying with his family, His wife and kids running to him, and a sunset when they reached earth.

- Daisuke kept calling out for Anya when he was hallucinating Curly and Jimmy in court. She couldn't do anything about it. And the reporters didn't let her near him either. She died without being able to comfort him.

- Daisuke always finds everyone in the crew in every crowd.

- His psychiatrist's first name is Anya.

- He saw someones looking like Anya and Swansea in the audience when Y/N was interviewing him. He relapsed immediately.

- Daisuke got 3 therapy cats. Their names are Anya, Swansea, and Curly.

- Fallacia, being left with Tulpar, she breaks codes and rewriting them, creating AI for the crew to play with her. But once the ship is running out of its last ounce of power, she disengaged forever, singing the song she used to sing for Curly as her forever goodbye.

Summary:  Don't think I don't see how they fall for your charms, all of your charms! - the one where your relationship with leclerc ends (and it's his fault).

The mobile phone fell out of your hands just after seeing those photos, it wasn't possible. You were not innocent, but they were never more than rumours. You took a deep breath, running your hands over your face wet from the tears you couldn't hold back. He said it was nothing, that they were old childhood friends - just like you were his. A traitor.

You wished he'd thought that straight. Leclerc had always been a great boyfriend, romantic, fun, good in bed. The worst? You were public. You often appeared in the paddock, chatted to the other girlfriends and now? How would you approach them and say: well I'm going to be single.

That wasn't even the worst of it, it was reaching out to Charles in person, not wanting to slap him in the face. You weren't perfect, but you couldn't imagine how he could have acted like that wasn't something terrible. 

Your face was hot, cheeks pink and a little swollen, but that wouldn't stop you from going to him. He was going to have a "boys' afternoon" with some drivers from the grid - and because Monaco was tiny, you knew very well where he would be.

"I can come with you." Carmen said, reaching for a handkerchief to dry her tears.

"I can too." Lily murmured, running her hands over her shoulders. " Best not go alone."

"Thanks, girls. Shall we go then? I have a relationship that will break up."

They laughed softly, giving each other a group hug before you guys got into the Spanish girl's car.

The drive was filled with soothing music in the background. Upon arriving at the piér, Max's yacht was there and with that, so were they. Leclerc, Gasly, Russell, Albon, Ricciardo, Sainz and Verstappen were laughing, drinks in hand, with a table full of snacks. Tu looked at the girls again, letting them take the lead. Their respective boyfriends saw them both walking with not-so-happy features, they both looked at each other before passing between their friends and heading to the entrance of the yacht.

"It's not about you guys, relax." Lily commented.

You thanked them and walked inside, crossing your eyes with the Monegasque, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall on your face. He made a confused expression at you, not expecting you to appear there. You just nodded for them to go to a more private part of the boat. Charles took your hand and walked quietly away, his lack of sobriety not helping. Your mouth opened to say something, but nothing came out, it seemed that all the words fell apart when you needed them most.

You unlocked the cell phone screen, showing him the sequence of pictures of him with a woman who was not you. His facial expression changed at the same moment, it seemed that his sobriety returned to his body as he realised the trouble he was in.

"Love..."

"Don't call me love." You took a step back. "You brought this girl into our bed and ruined everything."

"Hey, that's not what you're thinking..."

"I know about rumours... I see the way you look at women..."

"What? I don't..." He reached for your hand.

"Don’t!" You raised your arm. "I'm not naive! I see women all around you. You think I don't see them falling for your charms? All your charms." Your voice was shallow, trembling as you spoke.

"It's serious... It was only once."

"Now you admit that you cheated me?" Your face was wet again, a trembling voice, but it wasn't going to let that stop you from finishing speaking. "Honestly, Charles... Just admit that it was more than once. I always thought they were rumours, because there was no proof and people wanted to ruin what we had, some might even be out to hurt, but now I honestly suspect all these sudden trips with your friends, going for hours and hours without even sending a 'hello'..."

"Had?"

"Honestly? Is that what worries you?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. It's hard to live like this with someone, I really tried but..."

"Haven't you ever heard of an open relationship? Honestly, I wouldn't have been offended or insecure. You walked to the exit. "Honestly... The world has no place in our bed, they don't have to know what I say! You have lost all rights to be disappointed, of my heart, of your space in bed. Find somewhere to sleep tonight with only the memories of what you caused, because I don't want to see you in our apartment. I'll be long gone by tomorrow." 

You walked down the stairs of the yacht, looking at the girls, who obviously heard everything - along with everyone else who was there. One last time, you looked into his deep blue eyes, sniffling low and pointing your finger at him.

"I hope you burn."

Before your friends could even follow, you walked quickly out of there, back to the car. You both said goodbye to your boyfriends, looking the Monegasque up and down with the biggest look of disgust on their faces.

"Honestly, Leclerc? You did a damage-you-can-never-undo kind of stupid. Truly, you didn't think this through." Carmen said looking deeply at him, soon leaving together with the Asian woman to go after you.

The three of you were at the beach, sat down on the sand, watching the sunset. The city noise was filling the background while you were in silence, mourning the end of the relationship. You felt betrayed on so many levels. And the worst hadn’t even come out yet: the media knowing the end of your relationship. As you were a somewhat relevant songwriter in Europe and he’s a worldly known driver, people would talk. A lot.

“At least… I can still hang out with you girls, for a second I was worried that if I wasn’t his girlfriend, our friendship would end.”

“Never! Friends before partners!” Mundt replied, holding your hand.

“Or you could say… Bros before hoes.” Lily joked, making you two laugh. “But really… We’re here.”

“I’m not going to lie… I always thought you were too good for him.” The Spanish raised her hands, causing a burst of laughter to escape your lips.

“You were dating an Icarus. Who has flown too close to the sun.” Lilly commented.

Getting over someone wasn’t easy and going through this being in the public eye? Even worse. You recluded yourself the last few days, no social media at all. After coming back to your old city in Switzerland, the goal was to restart your life from scratch. Well, kind off. 

The first days were the hardest, waking up in bed without his warmth, without a good morning and a ready cup of coffee. The loneliness that plagued, because besides a boyfriend, you lost a friend, someone important in your life journey. And that doesn't happen every day and it is very difficult to overcome.

"4am, another lost night, no sleep. You couldn't take it anymore, not getting much more than two hours a night, hence working for almost 10 hours straight because it was the only thing that calmed your spirit.

The smell of his perfume still permeated some of your clothes, it was too painful.

Suddenly the doorbell of the house rang and clearly you were not expecting a visitor. You went downstairs and opened a small crack, seeing the person who should have been there the least. The Monegasque was holding a box, full of your belongings - things left over from your quick exit from the place you once called home.

Without saying anything, you gave him a space to enter, going up to the bedroom and pulling a box from the bottom of the wardrobe. His belongings seemed to weigh a ton, it was as if that weight didn't want to let you move, yet you went downstairs and placed the cardboard box on the table, waiting for him to hand yours over.

"Hey..."

"Don’t. Don’t take another step in my direction." You ran your hands through your strands of hair, sighing loudly. "It's not enough that you came here, please. Just go away and live your life, okay?"

He didn't answer, just shrugged and picked up his box, walking away gloomily.

Hi! I know you're probably busy rn with collage and what not and I totally understand if you can't expand on this but either way, god I just need to rant about this thought.

So I just saw this tik tok where this girl was like "when I'm riding passenger princess and we're getting a little to close to the car in front of us" and the audio was like "the question is when are you gonna START stopping?"

And one of the comments said she wasn't a passenger princess she was a anxious passenger patroller and all that had me thinking of was Stu and reader, like I don't know about everyone else but i canon whole heartily Stu is a great driver who drives recklessly because 1)he knows what he's doing and 2) he thinks the shits funny

And I believe he'd do it especially to reader when he gets in those weird moods when he doesn't know how to feel about the reader/doesn't know how to handle it, and it kinda just serfaces in this weird aggression . Idk it could be like a fight-ish thing and she's telling him to slow down and he's being a dick about and in the end he weasels his way back into her good graces because she won't speak to him first if he's wrong and he doesn't like going to long with out talking to her

I don't know what up with my mind and how it wonders, anywho hope you have a good day/night :)

YOU ARE SO RIGHT,, like i don't think he'd drive recklessly to scare reader with the intention of putting reader or himself in a dangerous situation,, but he'd for sure find it funny or see it as a way to "humble" reader a bit, like if Stu felt like the reader was acting too detached or into someone else he's suddenly speeding a little more just so that reader has to grip his arm and squeeze his hand

anyway i've been missing them and super happy to have a lower stakes way to talk about them,, also this turned out a little different and fluffier than i expected it to be lol

Something about the commercial feels different in the fall. Cliche radio hits are easier during the summer, sometimes even fun. But during autumn, with leaves melting off trees in hues of red and orange and the looming end of the year nostalgia, the synthetic quality is harder to look past.

That's why your hand instinctually gravitates to the radio, switching the station without a second thought.

Stu sighs, a quick, over exaggerated puff of air. "I liked that one."

You glance in his direction, glaring, "You were barely listening."

Even though you're mainly defending yourself out of habit, you know it's true. Stu's pretty open about what he likes, even when he doesn't realize it. Usually, when he likes a song he'll tap his fingers against the steering wheel. If he really likes something, he'll even get into it in a way that definitely lessens his ability to control the car.

"I was, too," he hums, half pouting.

You roll your eyes before looking back out the window. The world is moving past you in a vague blur. So quick a seed of unease plants itself in your stomach. You wouldn't exactly call it worry, you've been hanging with Stu and getting him to drive you around too long for his casual take on driving to overly phase you. With the exception of him doing something particularly risky like throwing himself into another lane after barely checking or taking too sharp of a left turn because of yellow light.

Sometimes you comment on it, equal parts teasing and annoyed. But usually, it's easier to just accept it. Stu's so comfortable with the way he drives that comments only amuse him. The one time you glared at him and asked him to slow down, he had a made a game of switching lanes at the last possible second.

"You liked that Spice Girls song more."

Stu openly snaps his head away from the road to glare at you. "Did not, you're the one that likes that saturated pop stuff."

"I said I liked one song one time."

He sighs, finally turning back to face the windshield. "Sure..." He tugs on the last syllable, dragging it out to make his disbelief clear. "You wanna stop for ice cream?"

It's not exactly late, but later than you planned on staying out. Time seems to slip away too quickly when you and your usual group are together and this afternoon's movie that ended in a hangout at the mall had eaten even more time than expected. There was something extra entertaining about wandering between stores and only occasionally actually looking at clothes.

You do have homework and it is Sunday and you told your mom you'd be back around 6:00 probably and it's now almost 7:00. But ice cream does sound nice and there will only be so many evenings in your life that feel this warm and lighthearted.

"I have some homework," you mumble in one final attempt to convince yourself, "But, yeah, I could go for ice cream."

Stu nods, tapping his pointer finger against the wheel. "We'll be fast."

The yellow light doesn't affect his speed as he turns left. Your fingers press into the side of your seat. Fast. No kidding.

"You okay there, babe?" Okay, there's no way your expression was bad enough to warrant a question (especially when he should be looking at the road). He has to be baiting you. "You're looking a little green."

You force your hand to relax, "Mhm." And it is fine. At the very least, fine enough because Stu always drives like this. "Used to you driving like you're on the run."

"You're just sensitive."

The comment is more dismissive than teasing and for whatever reason, you like it less than when he makes fun of you. At least his bullying is coated in a distinct type of affection that only Stu can get away with.

You briefly consider starting one of your 'am not, are too' fights. You're definitely not above it, especially when you two are alone and no one's around to call you out for being overly childish. But if he's going to be moody over the smallest comment...

He switches lanes--without using his blinker--with a sharp turn of the wheel. "If it's that bad, you could get rides from someone else."

The comment is hard and too casual to be a threat, but still mean. It makes your stomach drop more than the way Stu maneuvers the car. You didn't say he was that bad of a driver and you definitely didn't say anything about not going out with him anymore.

There are a lot of good things about getting Stu to drive you around. You like being in his space and the music that's more often than not just a little too loud and the passenger seat that feels more like your seat. You also like the unplanned for car moments, the accidental gossip sessions in driveways and parking lots. It's part of the reason you're glad you don't have a license yet...it's an excuse to just be around him.

"I didn't--"

"Bet Randy would put up with your backseat driving." The car speeds up slightly. "He'd slow down if you gave him that look."

You frown, ruining any chance you have at arguing that that you don't have a face. You don't get what his issue is, especially with bringing up Randy. He's been making on and off comments since the movie you all watched ended.

You don't fully get it, but you guess you get Stu being a little annoyed. Randy and you had been a little obnoxious, laughing too hard at jump scares and flinching too dramatically at moments that weren't that bad. But it's not like you two were terrible. Definitely not bad enough to warrant this passive aggression.

"I don't want to drive around with Randy, I want to drive around with you." You're full on pouting and you don't even care.

Stu sighs, eyes avoiding yours in the rearview mirror. An uncomfortable warmth settles against his face. How do you always manage to do that? From anyone else, he'd hate it, but you're never trying to get anything out of it. Things like that are just offhanded comments to you. No ulterior motives. You don't even think twice about it.

"So now it's not enough enough to be driven around by anyone?"

You shrug, relaxing into your seat. "I'm spoiled."

His throat feels dry, a wave of uncomfortable fondness hitting him with no warning. He knows there's some joke he should make about how you're shameless about it, too. But he's too caught up on the amount of feeling tightening his chest.

He turns into parking lot of your usual drive-in ice cream spot.

"You're enabled."

You turn your head, smiling, "And you're the enabler."

Stu grins, moving a hand to squeeze your shoulder. "I'll enable you any time, babe."

You roll your eyes, but don't make any move to shake him off. "Enable me a--"

"Mint chocolate chip in a waffle--not sugar--cone." He recites your usual order without a second thought.

You nod once in approval. "This is why you're my favorite."

"I'm telling Billy you said that."

Scratching the back of your arm, you glare. Stu's always trying to start a fight with that. "Do not start."

He grins teasingly, "Start what?"

You glare, hoping that the look is threatening enough to make him promise to leave your comment behind. You've known Stu long enough to know that he'd happily take a you're my favorite and save it until he could use it as some sort of ammunition, exaggerating it to make sure it really hits. All that does is make him smile more. Before you can say anything else about it, Stu rolls down the window and orders.

When you get to the window, you try to pay for your own, but that ends as it usually does. He never lets you pay for anything, and when you threaten to leave cash in his car, he threatens to buy you even more things. Try it and on Monday I'm picking you up with coffee and a muffin and that new CD you were talking about. ...A lot of the times, the suggestion makes you want to stop for coffee and muffins before school anyway, so you end up getting it with him anyway.

You give in early this time, thanking him for the ice cream as he finds an empty spot to park in. You smile to yourself. Parked car time with Stu is something you enjoy a lot more than you'd ever admit. The two of you have a silent understanding that in these moments you can say things you wouldn't usually be able to say out loud. Nothing terribly cruel, just a little snarky. The kind of comments that'd get you in trouble in front of the wrong people.

Usually, you have to take the lead at first because Stu likes to act like he's too good for gossip, but once he gets started, he's worse than you.

You're still debating which of the two major topics--rumors you've heard about Susan Welch being pregnant and the weird way Madison Meyer has been acting--to bring up first when Stu breaks the silence. "You uh--" Stu cuts himself off. "You know I wouldn't--I wouldn't do anything that'd hurt you like that."

Weirdly deep comment to hear while you're holding an ice cream cone. "...Are you trying to convince me you didn't poison my ice cream?" That strange seriousness of his doesn't go away. You frown. "Yeah, come on, of course I know that."

He nods, "Yeah, just--" Stu won't look at you. "I wouldn't, and just--the car thing--"

"Stu." You've made those kinds of comments before, and it's never made him react like this. "I know that." You nudge his forearm gently. "I didn't mean it like."" He doesn't cheer up. "Seriously, if I thought you were trying to reverse-vehicular-manslaughter me, I wouldn't get in the car."

At that, he lets out a breath that's definitely trying not to be a laugh. "Would that be reverse-vehicular-manslaughter?"

"I don't know," you hum casually, pausing to eat some of your ice cream, "You're the one trying to do it." Stu glares; you grin. "Kidding." You bite off the top edge of your cone. "You know I love driving around with you--we listen to music, we talk, we gossip--"

"I don't gossip, you gossip and I let you."

You shake your head, not bringing up the fact that he always has more stuff worth saying than you do and he's snarkier than anyone would ever guess. "Then I guess I won't tell you what's up with Susan Welch."

To be fully honest, Stu couldn't care less about Susan Welch, but he likes the way you react to these sort of things. Your reactions to his side comments might be his favorite part of these moments. "She's...in our english class right?"

"Mhm," you hum, trying to downplay your excitement, "Remember how she had to leave class early the other day--like, practically ran out of the room to throw up?" You don't wait for him to respond, "That was on square pizza day--which is the day that's least likely to make someone throw up." You pause for the sake of your ice cream. "And Lucy Thompson swears Susan randomly stopped drinking, which if you've met her, makes no sense. So, Lucy thinks Susan might be..." You trail off before vaguely gesture to your stomach.

Stu's eyes narrow as he pretends to really think about what you've just said. "I don't know if that's enough to mean she's knocked up."

You shake your head once, "Lucy also said she's never in cheer practice anymore, and she started wearing baggy clothes." You sit up a little straighter, "And Missy Danes swears her older sister's friend saw Susan buying a pregnancy test in a grocery store two towns over. I know it's not proof, but it's definitely worth thinking about."

He widens his eyes, more for your sake than anything else, "Definitely." He pushes his spoon into his melting ice cream. "If she is pregnant, she's totally screwed because Ben Johnson was just bragging about hooking up with her."

Your mouth falls open in pretend shock, "No way." You lean against the center console. "You got oreo again, right?"

Stu knows exactly what that question means, "Want some?"

Your eyebrows draw together as you shake your head. "No, I'm--"

"We could trade for a little."

Another one of your traditions, each person's ice cream slowly becoming everyone's. "Another reason why you're my favorite."

"Oh, now you're begging me to tell Billy."

You dip the spoon into ice cream, digging for a particularly large oreo crumb. "I will blame it on the ice cream."

easy first spot. i fell in love with this song from the first listen, and when I saw him perform it? i was on the floor. just something about just him and his guitar on stage, plus the set was really really pretty too, so he simply stole my heart. (and i also love that part in the song near the end when he goes "hey!" and the drums start playing and the songs speed up like ugh. pure perfection. i sometimes still tear up listening to it idek why i just admire him soso much)

fun fact: he's actually my lockscreen lol

i can't believe my rant is so long already and i haven't even mentioned the mv, so i'll keep it short lol. but im a sucker for the high school setting (i mean if that doesn't help me romanticise school idk what will atp) and even still his mv is just such a masterpiece.

like it's an actual 2010s coming of age you cannot convince me otherwise. i love how it's so deeply personal and i feel like you can see how he actually cares about what he's creating. just him being himself and playing and singing and just idk existing makes me so happy. and that last panel of him adding the music doodles alongside his player sketch destroyed me. safe to say, someone was def cutting onions.

the youth mv just simply blew me away. i was obsessed with the concept ever since the teaser dropped and the mv did not disappoint. i'm in love with his long hair, the boba eyes, his outfits, his acting, EVERYTHINGGG. and watching him perform it live and his interactions and dance alongside the other dancers is just so cute and makes me happy everytime i look at him.

believe me when i say this, but i would be lying if i said i didn't get wrecked by jeongin after watching this performance. this was i think the first performance video i watched from the tour and i was obsessed since the first watch. (i literally learned the choreo of the chorus literally weeks after his performance, yeah) i just love the vibes of this song + his siren like vocals so much. the mv was also so artistic and pretty, i loved it! and the thing is, one of my closest friend is jeongin biased, so i get to obsess over his performance a lot with her lol

#3 so good - hyunjin & ultra - changbin

SO GOOD IS MY JAMM!!!! literally always on the top of my hype playlists and always just gets me so energised and hyped up. same with ultra, these songs just give me the biggest serotonin boost. and watching them perform it is just a spiritual experience. hyunjin's dance break has me with my jaw open and changbin's body roll is nothing short of iconic. i only feel that maybe their mvs couldn't do the songs justice (but they both looked so attractive my god), but theres nothing like a live performance so i get it.

#3.5 hold my hand - HAN & railway - bang chan

han is such a superstar. the song is good, no doubt, but there's something about him performing it live that just makes it a 100x better

and um as a bang chan girlie i know this is surprising but just hear me out okay! it's just that i dont really listen to like smexy songs that often and like you'll only find me listening to this song on very specific times, so thus this ranking lol. the mv was also CRAZY. like goddamn, i think it's time you own up to your grown ass adults songs christopher because the only train i saw was the one with my sanity leaving me apparently. yeah anyway so it's just that i don't listen to this song as much as the others, but it's still such a good song though like sometimes you just wanna feel like that girl? this song with give you that.

before you come for me, i know. believe me putting his song here is hurting me almost as much as it's hurting you but probably not as much as lix when he was writing this song cause damn brother, who hurt you?? 😭😭😭 so yeah the only reason this is here is because it's a sad song, and i rarely listen to sad tracks because i use music as a way to like uplift and motivate myself, so i just don't listen to it much.

but other than that, this song is nothing but straight out of a fairytale. the whole beauty & the beast backstory works because he looks nothing but majestic performing it at the concert (i think he has one of the prettiest sets) as well as in the mv! i just love lix's voice so much— i remember making my non-stay friends listen to this and they were genuinely surprised when they got to know that this song was actually sung by one guy.

now that i think about it, this is one of my fav skz sad song (another one of my favs is also deep end!) but it's low on the list because it's just such a sad ass song lol. (but again I do love a good plot twists in songs heh so i love how the chorus and tone of the song changes after the "meeting belle" part)

Lappy fancam animatic blogging/production notes

now that wolfgirlyaoi is out on global its rambling time about my powerpoint presentation

Concept

Originally I wanted to do an (Tex & Lapp) animatic with the boss theme (broken wall/Signore dei Lupi .mp3) ever since the event dropped but I thought 1) by the time I finished anything someone else would have probably already done it first (lol, lmao even) 2) I remembered the song exists and how much i looped it then while listening to the group's new album drop and thought the lyrics fit Lapp a little too well and also doesn't end abruptly like the boss theme + was shorter so yea

initial stickman storyboard where i put down the lyrics with event dialogue/happenings that i felt would fit nicely together > hastily scribble the images that form in my head

storyboards were basically what i wanted to see (same rule as my comics) lol especially if they weren't shown in the event CGs, eg. there's a CG of the truck crashing into the courtroom so I didn't do that but they didn't mention her physical acting in that scene + the song I used has a bow/salute at that exact part in their live choreo with the very similar line so I wanted to do a homage even though-

-I was like it's going to be such a pain to figure out an economical hand twirl and bow but I have to do this I need to transplant the image in my brain onto the screen because official media did not do a—

Honestly still don't know if its a common phrase and action combo because I was having so much trouble finding external references that wasn't just scrubbing the live video over and over anyway

part of the storyboards were 'recycled' from comic drafts I did (of the chocolate scene because ofc) when the event was running on CN

Originally I wanted to draw Lapp feeding Texas for The Girlyaoi Funny but I wanted to reference the plaque you get which is a Creation of Adam reference right but I also saw people saying it's referencing the scene from Silence of the Lambs lol so...peel the layers to your liking!!

(The chocolate flavour choice was from asking my Columbian friends what the worst chocolate flavour they ever tried which was white coconut)

Art Direction

A bunch of shots/colour schemes are references to Måneskin's stuff or other media tehepero I'll just put a few here

At first I was going to limit red/blue to tex/lapp respectively but since Omertosa is blue I just did away with that rule and lapp gets to have both (and more!) these two colours have pretty obvious emotional readings I think but also

red = self blue = society Siracusa or: red = yaoi & blue = yuri

for the others:

Purple = Alberto/Saluzzo, its not orange like the fruit he keeps holding because see below; I needed the colour for something else LOL Also the Saluzzos are iirc nobility or whatever and they have purple hints in their clothes so I think it was a good fit anyway

Yellow/Orange = Its supposed to be representing the last word in the story which apparently, yostar went with 'Savagery' which is Correct I guess but (laments again about how nuance is lost in localisation because imo savagery has a more derogatory kind of connotation while I think 蛮荒 in context of the story also has a 'nature/untouched by civilisation' side to it) which is why Texas setting the house on fire was not (entirely) red but orange (and it complements the blues both visually and thematically) and it's yellow at the end when they're frolicking(?) in the wilderness lol

(these colour rules don't apply to the penglog shot and technically a few frames like the shot with shocked penance, the one right after and 'im just lappy' because...i forgor my own rules lol)

The greens/teals were just a reference to the shades in the 3DPV I think

The silhouette/general style was inspired from the 3D teaser thing they had at the beginning of the 3.5 anniversary stream and the card suits that I..forgot to move to the other layers which is why only the green one had them (supposed to be 1 per set 💀)

The clash bit is basically the same as the event CG but with a flipped camera/POV sorry for world's worst screenshot lmao. Couldn't imagine the poses in my head so I ended up posing 3d models in CSP pretty good posing practice

These shots got rendered extra because..they were the first frames I started on and I was still figuring out how much to simplify lol

I also posed the chairs shot for some inexplicable reason…my file was lagging so bad

Headcanon part (kind of)

The childhood flashback scene is probably the part I took the most liberties (headcanon) on since it's not explicitly canon like the rest...the sequence/how I connected the scenes itself to fabricate a timeline of her childhood was kind of inspired by some weibo post musing about how (iirc) texas's sweet tooth maybe came from when she was being fostered at casa Saluzzo and Lapp treating her like a pet essentially and giving her a lot of treats since...you know what happened to her actual pet hehe except maybe texas offered her a stick first and then Lappy just reciprocated endlessly because its one of the few 'acts' she knew that wasn't violence haha yeah this section was basically a stealth doujin sorry

It's mentioned that she was brought up as the ideal Siracusan or whatever and she does the cute doodle in the 3DPV so I thought she probably had the Forced Music Lessons as a kid (The music sheets are Bella Ciao and of course)

The bow choreo was the one thing i really wanted to animate but the music sheet segment (based on that one split second shot above) ended up being my favourite part even though compositing the motion was a mini hell on it's own (ended up compiling a long png to scroll by with the red doodles layered over)

Other things

I will never live down my (self-imposed) shame of misspelling the title (I fixed the title on youtube but its why the ending shot in the upload says ZittE e Buoni instead of ZittI e Buoni) don't rush your fancam in 10 days 😔

I didn't look through the entirety of the EN loc but Idk why they had Lappy say 'Then go.' to Texas when it's supposed to be more like 'Let's go.' as in, 'let's go together' as opposed to 'alright off you go to the greyhall alone' lmfao also her saying goodbye forever padre when addio is right there

I don't think I'm insane enough to do another ppt soon but man this pair really makes the 'imagines a whole music video while listening to music' part of my brain go wheee like first it was Starset's Manifest then Signore de Lupi then this and while working on this one i was thinking how Måneskin's Torna A Casa would be another good track

The thing about that Winter thing, just to remind, from her POV she killed James. The last she saw of him was was her making him explode. From her perspective she is the one who killed that guy. And she is not very Brocken up about it.

Its amusing because they give Adam more sympathy then this. Blake literally broke down sobbing after killing him and even the triumphant song they released had a note about how sad Adam's story was and how this boy lost his way being consumed by hate and spite.

It was not alot, but like...its more then they give Jimmy LOL.

Pretty sure I got this ask when we all thought Winter was writing on Ironwood's grave, but regardless...

Yeeeah.

Something I've been thinking about lately is how Ironwood is the one villain who is still irrevocably against Salem and how that should have made such a difference, but didn't. Even Adam, whose story-line became 99% about his abusive relationship with Blake, was working with Cinder earlier on who, in turn, was working for Salem. Every major villain in the show (that I can think of off the top of my head, anyway) did something to forward Salem's agenda: Cinder, Watts, Tyrian, Hazel, Emerald, Raven, Adam, Roman. That consistency means that although I might often side-eye the heroes' inability to forgive (or hypocritically forgive on a dime) it at least makes sense that they would look at someone like Lionheart, someone who was helping Salem end the world, and dismiss any goodness within them.

Ironwood, in contrast, was working against Salem up until the moment he died.

Did the writers give him a senseless, fucked-up means of moving against Salem via a 'just bomb civilians' plan? Yes and I'll forever side-eye that too. However, I think if the heroes should have forgiveness/sympathy/mixed feelings/an emotional reaction to any villain, it should be the one whose villains acts were all in the name of stopping their shared enemy. In debating the ethical and practical merits of Ironwood's plans, I think many fans have lost sight of the larger picture. He's trying to get the Relics away from Salem, keep their last army of huntsmen in reserve to fight Salem later, get at least one city of people safely away from Salem. No matter how messed up, no matter how misguided and OOC there wasn't a single thing Ironwood did that wasn't guided by his attempts to keep Salem from ending the world. In a better written show, that would have meant something. Even if we still had to get cartoon villain Ironwood, the characters would at least acknowledge that he (from the show's POV) did all the wrong things for the right reasons. Winter in particular was set up to be that nuanced insight, given his mentor-esque status and her unfailing faith in 99% of the choices Ironwood made. That the show would have her (from her POV) kill him and then just sneer at how she waited too long to do it is insane. Please write these characters humanely! Even if you come to hate someone for what they've done, years worth of love for them doesn't just up and disappear!! That's the one (1) snow scene moment RWBY got completely right: of course Ozpin is still going to care for Lionheart despite his betrayal.

For me, intent will always matter. It might not excuse everything (or anything at all), but it opens the door for forgiveness in a way that few other things will. Which is why the intent of other characters, in contrast, makes Ironwood's writing so much worse. You have Qrow teaming up with Tyrian because he refuses to go see Ironwood in handcuffs and Emerald who is "redeemed" because she was literally just standing beside Oscar post-realization that Cinder doesn't love her. The show says, "You're forgiven for being so stubborn you'll deliberately help kill your friend" and the characters say "You're forgiven for trying to end the world/destroying a school and then stopping out of selfish self-interest." But there's no "You're forgiven for taking extreme measures in a no-win scenario in an effort to salvage some hope against an immortal enemy." That's messed up to me! Especially given that Ironwood is (presumably) dead. If there's ever a time to let characters extend compassion in a way they may not be able to with the person still there and potentially still enacting wrong, it's when they've died for those heroic beliefs. Ironwood is the one villain who, methods aside, was 100% fighting the right battle and he's simultaneously the one villain that characters and story alike refuse to give even a smidge of sympathy for. Wild.

I watched this documentary series on the making of Creation of the Gods. These are just my reactions to it and not a synopsis.

Episode 1

It's cool seeing just how many people were involved in the making of this movie(s)

The writer Ran Jia'nan was saying that they had to cut out stuff from the story that might not have made sense (to a wider audience) or perhaps was not so relevant to the main plot, and the example she used was that when Ji Chang threw up the bits of Bo Yikao that he had eaten, those pieces became rabbits. After a long time of mulling it over they decided to cut that from the story.

The actors had to learn to ride horses, combat, archery.

Training montage!!!!!

Most of those chosen had not performed professionally so they needed to train in acting and performing too.

Their first lesson was in drums. Not sure how to put it into words, but basically the teacher said that drums are an instrument that can match our pulse, and that in battle, the rhythm at which we fight is the rhythm of our pulse. That's kind of hype, they look cool.

Second lesson was combat but they also had to work out a lot too.

Third lesson was horseback riding.

Rad that one of their trainers is like, a cowboy lol.

Not only did they train in horse riding, but horse riding while fighting.

Fourth lesson was culture/history class, including a classical Chinese education. Probably to give them a deeper appreciation and understanding of the characters and story.

Wuershan was more focused on whether the actors could relate to their characters.

Ji Fa's clothes look so good.

The scenes when Ji Fa was riding back home in the end of the first movie were filmed in Xinjiang. Those scenes were sooo good.

I appreciate that Wuershan wanted a very foxlike Daji and had Naran study fox behaviour. She watched fox videos but also went to the zoo to watch foxes :3

Speaking of Naran, I think she trained to be fluent in Mandarin for this movie which is so amazing :3

Daji's appearance right after she is possessed by the demon is so...wow. The long hair, the flowing robes. She didn't die in those clothes, but as the fox it's like, a little primitive. She's wearing very basic robes. She is not the original Daji, that's for sure.

Episode 2

The concept art is so cool. Wuershan emphasized the good vs evil battle so the one with the very clear yin-yang outline probably emphasized that the best.

The process by which they decided on the aesthetic for this movie series was interesting. Investiture of the Gods is based on a very ancient time, but the novel itself was written in the Ming Dynasty. Add to that the mythical elements that should in theory transcend time. What do you get? In the end, they went for a 70% 水陸畫 style (which is an artistic style and not a time period) and 30% 殷商 (which refers to the Yin and Shang dynasties), plus a bit of Song Dynasty 山水 art style (which I guess is referring to that style of landscape/nature art).

Wuershan really liked a mural that was in Yongle Gong and wanted the aesthetics of the movie to emulate that style.

Concept art for the outfits. According to Wuershan, in the Shang Dynasty, white was considered a regal colour.

Empress Jiang and her family were from the east, by the ocean, so that was why they wore blue.

The duke from the south was thought to have come from a hot place, so that was why he wore red robes.

The northerners wore gray, as their lands were thought to be kind of...vast and gray.

Then lastly the folks from the west, including Ji Chang, wore yellow, though here of course it looks more like a muted yellow, a brown. Anything too bright and it would remind people too much of an emperor.

So the team put effort into fleshing out the world, even though we only saw a bit of it (at least in the first movie). But it kind of shows how ambitious Wuershan is about making this an "epic" movie series, not in the sense that it's super great, but in the sense that this is a big world with a lot going on. Even though this movie wasn't even that long, I did feel that sense of magnitude, that there were a lot of things going on even if we were just focused on the top.

It's interesting that Wuershan is so involved in every aspect of the movie. He was discussing clothing materials with Tim Yip. He is the director, but I think he's just really passionate about the world he's building and he wants it to be as immersive as possible.

Naran's interpretations of her outfits was interesting. When she was still the real Su Daji, she was dressed in furs, and it gave a feeling of being protected and loved by her family. When she was possess by the fox demon, she wore a very thin purple outfit. She wore it while in the dead of winter, and it would give people a feeling that something was off. Then she wore a bright red outfit when she was dancing and it represented ambition. In the last scene of the first movie when Daji revived Yin Shou, Daji wore another very thin dress, this time in pink. Naran felt that at that time, Daji sincerely cared for Yin Shou (whether it was "love" or not is another question), so she would have been sad at seeing him dead. And so Naran associated pink with sadness.

Kris Phillips was raving about Tim Yip's outfits for Yin Shou in this part :P

Oh this is cool I think they are sculpting Lei Zhenzi here.

And other monsters.

The concept artist Siji said that he appreciated that the concept artists were given enough time to develop and create the concept art.

I didn't even realize the fox demon had different forms. Siji was explaining that initially, the fox demon was more ghost-like, and only began to develop a form after eating enough people.

So we move on to the set and Wuershan puts just as much detail into building the set, which is very understandable. If your set is lame then it doesn't matter how beautiful your costumes are tbh. They went so far as to discuss the patterns of the beams, and what kinds of visual motifs would be on them.

Tim Yip was explaining how some of the structures they came up with would never have existed in history. But they did it for the aesthetics lol.

For some of the fight scenes, they did the storyboard by animating it in 3d because it would be easier to work with. In the example shown, the camera was constantly rotating around the character so I imagine that it would have been difficult to explain the constant motion of the camera with a normal drawn storyboard.

We got to the animation of Lei Zhenzi. The animator did a 360 view of what he would look like, and then another view where he would be carrying Ji Chang on his back, which he pointed out probably would not work if the wings were also on his back.

It looks like the entire movie was created in that Previz 3d animation system. Which makes sense. There's a lot that goes into filming and you might as well get a feel for the scenes, so that you can see if they actually deliver the intended impact.

Wu Yibei who I think is a special effects producer was talking about Lei Zhenzi. Basically it was really important for them to get all of the details of Lei Zhenzi right because he was going to be an important character in the second and third movies, and would interact with actors, would have feelings, etc.

This is super cool, this seems to be concept art for how Lei Zhenzi would have grown, how his wings would have developed as he grew up from a baby to an adult.

I saw this from another video that interviewed a special effects advisor for the movie. Douglas Smith had mentioned that Wuershan didn't really want Lei Zhenzi to be like a bird or a bat, and in the end, they settled for more of a fish feeling to Lei Zhenzi. Wuershan says this too in this documentary series.

Other than the physics of Lei Zhenzi's flight, I thought it was neat that Wuershan and the animators were discussing how his lightning powers would look like.

Wuershan had called up Han Pengyi and asked him if he'd wanted to be China's Andy Serkis lol. Han Pengyi served as the motion capture actor for Lei Zhenzi.

Oh wow Wuershan and Han Pengyi actually met Serkis and got to ask him about motion capture acting :o

So apparently when they animated Lei Zhenzi they hadn't really animated him blinking so Douglas Smith and team were figuring out how they could make use of other skin around Lei Zhenzi's eyes to express certain emotions.

Episode 3

Wow the craftspeople are carving the parts of the set by hand.

Look at this!!! Even just the concept art is amazing.

Wuershan did a lot of studying on the Lord of the Rings and consulted people who worked on that which is cool.

There was a discussion where Wuershan was discussing how the Lord of the Rings used more practical effects (in this case having a bunch of extras actually fighting in a battle) whereas by the time the Hobbit came around, they didn't consider this option anymore.

They spent a lot of time explaining how they came to film Shen Gong Bao's scene in which his head came apart from his body.

This was super blurry so I'm not going to screencap it but Ji Chang's actor Li Xuejian said "兒子演得不錯" and Wuershan patted Yu Shi's head in a 'did you hear that?' kind of way Yu Shi was all like humble like "noooo i'm not" hehe.

Apparently it was Father's day so Yu Shi wished Wuershan and Wang Yu a Happy Father's day lol.

They were trying to shoot a shot of five of the warriors on horseback jumping over a hurdle, while the horses were blindfolded. I'm not sure why the horses were blindfolded tbh but it was difficult because of that and the fact that they wanted the horses to jump together. Looked awesome though. And they got fistbump from one of the trainers for getting it done in two takes.

Yu Shi explained that when they first started learning to ride horses, they were paired with any horse. After they got the hang of it, they were paired with a specific horse so that they could build a good relationship, and the actors would have to care for that horse too.

Ji Fa's character especially had a special relationship with his horse because he was a gift from his family and a symbol of home. And we saw them filming the scene near the end of the first movie where his horse was trying to get him to wake up so that they could go home.

Archery was something that challenged Yu Shi a lot so he practised it a lot and watched videos of archers.

Check out this diagram lol. I think they were trying to explain the setting to Gordy Haab who worked on the music.

We saw Gordy checking out Chinese artifacts and listening to Chinese music. Yu Fei who was a music producer said that he had a good deal of interest in the culture.

It looks like they're having some musicians play outside at one of the sites? I'm not sure if they were actually playing though.

When he's left in the tower and just messes around for a few days. I re-watch it all the time. It's very relatable too, I get sad and unmotivated after a day without having people to talk to as well. Also that scene from s3 ep1 when he's talking to himself in his room, I love his silly facial expressions, and "nothing tops a Super" has been burned into my brain.

Unpopular opinion

I don't think it's really unpopular but his hair is so bad. I wasn't a fan of it in s3 but s4 made it so much worse. I'm also not a huge fan of his suit but that's for "it looks cheap and plain compared to the other ones" reasons.. like the abs on it look like the kind you'd see on a Halloween costume. It's weird.

Favorite relationship

In canon.. I don't really know. Gar's character felt it went from "DickKory's son" level of importance to just "oh yeah that guy" throughout the seasons. Gar's relationships with the characters (besides Rachel) is pretty surface level imo, especially in seasons 3 - 4. But whatever Gar's relationship with the Red is seems cute. It changed it's realm color for him and looks to care about him a lot through what I saw in the episode. He's clearly the favorite child and I love that for him.

Favorite headcanon

I got one too many of those, but him being able to purr is always a great one, and acting cat-like at times. Empty box? That's his now. Left a cup on the island? It's pushed onto the floor. Nothing is safe. He might have left a dead bird somewhere as a gift too, who knows.

7. What inspired the idea for the plot?

Honestly? I just rarely write about anything that takes place in a timeline where Minthara raids the grove in Act 1 and wins. That, and at the time I wanted to write something where the moon is used as both a point of disgust by Shadowheart, but also as a subtle reminder of the guilt she feels. Seemed as good a time as any to me, considering the first point. I also rarely write smut that dark, and it helped to fuel the other bits of the plot.

8. What inspired the title for this fic? Is that usually how you choose titles?

Well, it's a lyric from a Mournful Congregation song that I know pretty well. I frequently use lyrics for fic titles, but it's not how I always do it. Sometimes there'll be riffs on lyrics if I do use them, or I'll use alternate versions of the lyrics. A lot of my fic titles come from either that, a line in the fic that probably got axed in editing, or a phrase/word that just came to mind immediately when I wrote the fic. The latter are usually so thematically on point that they don't leave me alone, they need to be used. Some of the fics where I used a phrase that popped into my head are "I Never Wish to Stray from This Tranquil Place" and "Clawed Down by the Skin She Wears."

20. What is something you wish more people noticed about this fic?

That Shadowheart's constant looking back to the moon is meant to be another hint at her nature in that universe's timeline. The fact that she spirals even further when she does it, trying to sink into an even worse subspace all the time, is a bit of Shar's influence on her. Also, that "nothingness" that she encounters in her mind while in subspace is literally just Shar's avatar as primordial darkness.

26. Wild Card! I'll tell you a fun fact about this fic!

I almost scrapped the entire thing two or three times while writing it. Things just weren't coming together at all. I think the end result wound up being all right, but there's a lot of frustrated writing in it lol.

I saw some art that called Minthara "spider knight" and my brain completely derailed it into something terrible. Everything that happened in the fic is, genuinely, a bit of improv as I wrote.

Since I already mentioned that I use songs, lyrics for inspiration, I'll just say that it seemed clear to me that I needed to use something suitably grimy and awful. Something dark. A Gnaw Their Tongues album/song seemed absolutely fitting. I mean, how could it not with such lovely song titles as "My Orifices Await Ravaging" and "Rife with Deep Teeth Marks?" And to add to the list of fics with titles that just sounded Neat and thematic in my head: "Take Me Under Your Wing" and "The Sight of Your Blood a Knife in My Chest."

The tags... I've had some interesting anons about that fic/those fics lol. Also, and this is really true of all of my Orinthara, Minthara's struggle with her actual thoughts vs. what the Absolute's control is making her do/think. Always thought it was weird they put that emphasis on Nancy in the OP, but didn't do much with her. (Like, there's a tweet where she had a full body pic with everyone else's character sheet images, but she doesn't have her own section on the website...)

The dance scene is so random! When I saw it in the series trailer, I thought it was going to be part of the ED. I'm planning on using it for part of an AMV in the future...

It's weird how Noin didn't touch the MOPart, and yet it was purified at the end of the song. (Maybe the love purified it?) Also, what does it say about Noin's Motarian self that it was causing everyone to break into song and dance at mentions of love?

Episode Four

"Kappa Autopsies" lol

The "prophesied UFO warrior" bit gives me RobiHachi vibes.

Then the "don't rehash old stories," which is what this whole series does with Mu becoming Mo, and Loch Ness becoming "Loch Nuss."

So many weird things at the store... Like what the hell? The weird octopus creatures, the golden apples of chaos, the Domo-like yeti and the Gudetama-like carrot... (The latter two are cute, I admit.) But it's just like this small chunk of worldbuilding that isn't talked about in-universe? They could've easily written a year's worth of articles on the stuff in that shop!

Once again, curry in an Umatani series. (Kinshirou points at my TV and says "I've had enough of this dude.")

Taro really thought it would be a good idea to find a relationship at a popular date spot. Anyone there for dating would already be in a relationship.

I also remember seeing Yasuko throwing her spear in the series trailer, and thinking she'd play a bigger role in the series.

Taro talking to Yasuko and Jiro seeing him by himself always makes me think of that episode of The Simpsons where Homer makes a friend that no one ever sees, and Stephen Hawking had like a cloaking device that made it so Bart couldn't see the friend at the hardware store.

Taro really just gets bonked on the head. And I love how Goro calmly says "oh, that's how."

I hope White Pegasus eventually returned the bone to the Lake Nuss Campground...

Arcane S1 & 2 Review

Spoilers!

I finished Arcane a couple of days ago now and… I’m permanently scarred from this series and it’s never ending cycle of making me cry or feel emotional at the end of an episode. I’m gonna talk about both seasons because I’m lazy and I don’t wanna make two posts about each season or episode. So here are my overall thoughts on Arcane.

Season 1:

This might be a perfect season of television. Everything in this season is perfectly balanced and every storyline is equally compelling and given enough screen time for all of them.

The characters are some of my favourite characters in television. They are all so imperfect and complex that I sometimes don’t know who’s the main bad guy of the show. Which is the point because all of these characters are flawed in their own ways. Jayce and Viktor are my fav ship that is real in my eyes 👀. Who’s Mel? Jk love Mel. Caitlyn is great and I especially love her and Vi together. But she did feel like she had no character development this season, but I still love her. Ekko was so great and good-looking lol. Vander… I miss him. Silco, fuck him, yet I love him. Silco is such a complex character that he is a threat in a way but he is also driven with his past and what happened between him and Vander. Finally, my favourite sisters, Vi and Jinx/Powder. I loved them through out the whole show and I wanted them to be ok more than anything, especially after episode 3. And when Powder became Jinx, I was saddened to see the sweet Powder turned into Jinx, a mad woman with PTSD and more. I love her so much, especially when she meets someone in season two.

The soundtrack is fire 🔥. But it definitely has a few ok songs. dynasties and dystopia is my favourite song from Season One.

Overall: A season of television that keeps me hooked and in tears while banging my head to the music. Everything about this season is just amazing and barely has any lows or bumps. 10/10.

Season 2:

Holy fuck… I have never cried this much before with a show. I’m still thinking about Episode 6 and I’m still listening to this perfect soundtrack.

Tho I love this season a lot, I can’t help but see that it felt a bit rushed with it all. This season has more flaws than the actual characters in it. But like I saw on a YouTube video, this season is “Beautifully Flawed”.

The Characters are back and there are more now. Sadly, most of them serve no purpose to the show at all. Like the Vander lookalike dude, he dies before he can even do anything helpful or heroic. But my favourite new character is obviously Isha and no, I don’t support the fact that a child sacrifices/kills herself. It’s never a good thing. And by episode 8 it’s proven pointless. Tho I cried like I was watching a real kid die in front of me. I love Isha so much but her death was sadly pointless. This show really likes to make you feel empty on the inside for days.

The season one characters are back and better than ever. With Caitlyn actually having character development now, even though it does take away time from her and Vi together for a unconsiderable amount of time in the season.

Vander coming back as Warwick was kinda pointless, tho it gave us Remember Me so yeah 😊. But the episode people were hating the most was episode 7, an episode where it focuses on where Ekko, Jayce and Hiemerdinger guy disappeared to after episode 3. It definitely ruined the pacing for act 3 a bit, but we got the French song so yeah, love that.

But I must talk about the soundtrack… this shit is perfect. Sucker is such a banger, To Ashes and Blood is perfect, Paint The Town Blue is a fun banger from Queen Ashnikko, Remember Me is so beautiful and underrated, Isha’s Song brings me PTSD, The French song makes me dance yet cry at the same time, The Line is so beautiful and fits perfectly in the 8th episode, Come Play is so underrated for a K-Pop song, and Wasteland breaks my heart every single time. As well as many of the other bangers.

Finally, the best part of this whole show, the animation is god tier and it did not need to go this fucking hard. Like when the music from the soundtrack plays in a scene, the animation is either cranked up or changed up completely, either way, they’re both equally fire.

Overall: this final season has a lot of flaws that I think is due to how rushed this season definitely felt. I don’t think this was supposed to be the final season but whatever, fuck Netflix. But I still love it so much and cried throughout every episode. I love this show a lot more than I originally thought when watching this show, but I love all of the characters and didn’t hate a single moment of this show, Despite this season actually needing a 10th episode.

The Good Bad Mother Live Blogging

I know of this show because Lee Dohyun is starring in it but I didn't add it to the list bc it seems a little too depressing. But now Lee Dohyun's in the military so nothing new from him for a while but my desire to see him act reignited after his episode in Death's Game, so I decided to see if I'd be interested in any of the shows he's done and this one seems more lighthearted than I expected, like this Youtube edit I saw (even though it'll likely still be fairly heavy at times because I know there's child abuse).

Seems like a beloved show with an actor who is beloved to me, I hope I enjoy it. Besides, not like I thought I'd love 18 Again as much as I did.

Ep 1 (Apr 1)

omg not A construction company, THE construction company: Woobyuk... girl they killed your dad! the guy you're calling boss, I'm assuming, is the same guy, Song Woo Byuk !! so unless you're doing this to gain his trust and betray him, you're fucked

I think in this show and Psychopath Diary, it's like yes, this much corruption can exist or these terrible things can happen to one person, so the unfortunate circumstances piling up were worse than in A Killer Paradox which had bad circumstances but it was due to accidentally murdering someone (+ some possible supernatural power), which is easier to deal with because it's extremely unlikely.

Very good episode, I'm really engaged and it's a good mix of humour vs tragedy.

Ep 2 (Apr 1)

ewww Kangho nooo, working with Woobyuk Construction and taking bribes like cars and houses T.T and even getting offered to be the dude's son like that man killed your father !! At least he didn't give the phone as evidence though... maybe in the end when he's back to being his old self, he'll use it to take down Woobyuk

Ah, the fucking food thing really got to me like in all these dramas and also IRL, I'm freaking obsessed with food and sharing food between families and significant others and close friends etc, so it was already tragic before when the mother kept telling Kangho to not eat too much/to not be full so that he's not sleepy and the way he didn't have his birthday dinner with his mom the day he got stuck with Mijoo and not accepting the food that his mom brought to Seoul but now her offering him food again and him rejecting it

and finally, the accident

I've realized that the woman who plays Mijoo was also the cop from Strangers From Hell.

Woah, not only is Lee Dohyun the lead in this but the director Shim Na Yeon is also the same director as Beyond Evil.

I already know the kids are Kangho's because of comments on that edit. The biggest question for me now is whether Kangho is double-crossing these powerful people or not, because I don't think he actually murdered that mother and child and maybe he is just biding his time and such.

But idk if we're gonna actually get any of the plot stuff in the next 10? 11? episodes since he's gonna be kid-like

Anyway, so far, they're obviously both unlikeable because although the mother started off kind in ep 1 and is not again kind and pitiful, she abused Kangho throughout his childhood by forbidding him from eating too much or engaging in hobbies or doing anything fun while now Kangho isn't just cutting off his mother (not unreasonable IMO) but also scheming with powerful corrupt people (unreasonable and deplorable if true and not just him biding his time).

Ep 3 (Apr 1)

Ah fuck, the way he doesn't let him eat is actually insane like he has to hide when he's eating food

I was wondering if the accident was intentional, seems like Oh Tae Soo was maybe behind it

The thing is... we're gonna just get that Kangho has always loved his mother (even the We Are Happy song in his day-to-day? c'mon) and never meant any of the mean stuff he did. idk if just sucks that she's been so abusive his whole life, including this time, but we are just going to happy a pretty boy full of sympathy for her because everything wrong happens in her life, which gives her a pass to be a POS I guess? Like I understand why she does the terrible things she does, but there's no catharsis because there are no consequences for her. And I don't even need Kangho to cut her off tbh bc people often don't cut off abusive parents but just... something more.

Also some parts of it were kinda anti-climactic like them each finding out the info the other was hiding, the conversations/script was like hm

also omg the timeline was confusing me but Kangho dated Hayoung for SEVEN years ?! Makes sense since Mijoo saw them at the building when the kids were babies and they got engaged recently. okay acc the kids are like 5 years old international age, so more like they dated 4-5 years but that's still crazy long

Overall:

Lee Dohyun <3 The reason I looked into the show, then I didn't watch it because it seemed to heavy, and now watched it because of Lee Dohyun and heard the show was humourous.

I don't think I've seen Lee Dohyun play a character who is just his own self lmfao In 18 Again, he was his 40-year-old self in his 18 year old body. In Death's Game, he was the original guy in Lee Dohyun's character's body. In The Good Bad Mother here, he is playing that his 35-year-old self has returned to his 7-year-old self.

It was so addictive and entertaining, watched the whole show in like 2 days and 2 hours. Impressed by the acting of Lee Dohyun and the mother and Mijoo's actors.

The show was mostly about the mother and son relationship, with the revenge plot + the Mijoo/Kangho romance arcs in the background.

I deeply wish that Kangho hadn't apparently forever loved and understood his mother and did everything for her and sang her favourite song while studying for the Bar or whatever. Like obviously he went low-contact with her in Seoul even before he discovered the stuff that made him break up with Mijoo, so I think the reasons behind that and the hurt and betrayal that caused him to take such an action should have been focused on more. Like things just kept on going wrong with the mother's life, so we were supposed to feel endless sympathy for her but she abused Kangho greatly. Like he literally didn't eat the first few days because the mantra was stuck in his head, that's so abusive, I just. Why couldn't we have had a middle ground where Kangho gets to actually say and acknowledge that his mother's actions hurt him so, so badly. Like we got fleeting moments of him being angry or her saying she's bad but it was all explained away or he understood or whatever.

Anyway, idk, I think if that relationship was more clear + the ending of the revenge arc was more solid, I would've rated it higher because I did enjoy this but some things bothered me significantly.
