Ok I don’t think this turned out well. My weakest point at writing I think is still dialog/general read on characters. Seriously, rereading this and face in my palm. I am so fail it hurts. But thank you for letting me practice!

Anyway. A fic in which Antauri’s worst fear comes back. His metal body choosing violence, and violence choosing Gibson ❤️ the idea I had was cooler. Maybe one day I will rewrite this one specifically.

(this is my first ever public fanfic featuring my anthro monkeys au. Yay!)

(Some notes on their designs before the fic:

Antuari’s dreadlocks are made by his ghost mode ability.

Originally made them to help alert the team that this silver monkey was in fact him.

This Gibson is gender-fluid, and presenting himself male rn. Since I can’t take hrt I made all my ccs have immediately power to switch their gender presentation. Boob mode and boobless mode, essentially for Gibson.)

Multiple ships invaded Shuggazoom city, the hyperforce were forced to find a means to stop them instead of out right destroying them, as they were full of kidnapped Shuggazoomians.

After returning the citizens, Antauri could sense that more ships coming in that hadn’t had anyone in them this time, and the scanner on the robot confirmed his senses. So, those ones they easily shot down. They noted after the captives were able to all be accounted for, that there were no more in coming ships.

Slow, Inorganic movement was noted in multiple of the vessels, Otto estimated that these must be robots that withstood enough damage to function, although the scanner indicated that they were all definitely damaged to a great extent.

Chiro commanded to take the machines and investigate them in a controlled environment, with the rest of the information they could gather.

Antauri phased into one ship, and opened it from the inside to let Gibson in. “So the doors are functional. I’ll bet we can repurpose these parts for more helpful use.” Gibson noted into the communicator.

Chiro reported back. “Just make sure whatever we bring back can’t kill us, alright?”

Otto chuckled into the communicator. “That’s fair. I just wish we could always have time to get free materials like this! Once you know it’s harmless, bring me everything that looks cool.”

Antauri smiled at that, and assured him. “Noted.”

The ship was large, lots of open room behind them, now. In front of him, Antauri saw Gibson plugging a device into the ships computer system.

Suddenly, Antauri felt a quick stab of pain at the back of his head, and loudly fell onto the cold metal ground of the ship, alerting Gibson, who left the device behind to pick up Antauri.

“Antauri’s been struck! I-I don’t exactly know from what yet-“

The others on the communicator all responded promptly, letting Gibson know they are on their way to help.

When lifting him up, Gibson saw the screen on Antauri’s face fizzle, and turn black. Next, the artificial hair on his head phased away. It reminded Gibson of what happened to Antauri during Mandarin’s invasion of the super robot, although he himself was one of the less lucid to see Antauri turn, something in his subconscious knew this was familiar.

Braking his thoughts, Antauri’s arms came back to life. His ghost claws quickly slashed Gibson in his rib cage, slamming him into the ships wall. Dazed, Gibson prepares to defend himself. He couldn’t use tranquilizers on his metal partner, but he did equip himself with a device that could immobilize Antauri, he just needed it to to inject it into Antauri’s head port, but that was easier said than done.

Gibson brought his activated drills into a defensive position, to ward attacks and prevent hurting Antauri.

The whirring noise being the only sound as Antauri’s strange movements started making distance between them. Then, the spider legs that came out of the silver monkeys back returned, slicing the back of Antauri’s tunic.

The sight came as quite a scare to Gibson, and the turned Antauri took that as initiative to strike again, using his tail to pull Gibson forward and over from his feet. He then leapt and crawled along the ships ceiling. Gibson noting that he must be trying to avoid his drills. His plan was to slowly whittle Gibson down. He realized that, and made a fake opening. The turned Antauri fell for it, and Gibson angled himself to plug his device into his head port. As he did so, he saw his device stabbed through something attached to Antauri, who went limp again.

Taking a moment to catch his breath, Gibson took a good look at the thing he stabbed. It was a small robot, it must have been manufactured to manipulate other robots. He quickly stored it into a sealed container, then, hesitantly, rolled Antauri back over. Stepping away at first.

“Antauri, can you hear me? I’m going to try to restart your system, if it’s still down. So.. please hold still, this time..”

Antauri’s screen and hair came back before Gibson had the chance to come closer, his expression clearly panicking.

“Gibson, throw the container, away from us!” Gibson startled, but decides this is his Antauri real self again, and follows the advice. He tossed the container toward the open space of the ship, closer to where they came in, away from the computer system, after throwing it, Antauri held himself over Gibson as it blew up. Shielding him from much of the debris.

“Antauri! That- please let me see if you’re okay, let go of me.” And he did, looking frantic still himself.

The back of Antauri’s body had a metal protrusion stabbing into him. That would take a med bay trip to remove, he regretfully noted.

“Gibson, my sight went blank, was I the one who hurt you..? Your side is bleeding.”

“Oh, I’ll live, you are clearly more hurt yourself.. Why didn’t you consider how dangerous it would be to shield me with only yourself like that?”

Gibson feeling anger rise at the buried trauma once again of Antauri’s sacrifice. Each of the team members already gave Antauri an earful. And yet, here he is once again, too selfless for his own good, and for Gibson’s idea of too much as well, if he is being completely honest.

“I can’t stand when you- how many times are you going to.. Antauri, you aren’t expendable!” Antauri’s expression beginning to show regret for hurting himself. Gibson felt his anger die back down.

Gibson stammered, ashamed of raising his voice at an injured man. “I.. oh my god, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t yell. Please, don’t take that seriously, I know that you, uh, you know your value yourself.. And didn’t know what else to do, that only you’d survive something like.. this..”

“Yes. Of course, just treat your injury first, Gibson. We can look at this event as a way to improve ourselves.”

Always keeping them aware of their flaws, and amending them accordingly. Even when Gibson lets his emotions out, Antauri’s dignity keeps them both stable again.

Gibson still unsatisfied, asked. “But.. you do mean you’ll look into proper methods of protecting others, right? Seriously, we can make you an energy shield if you’re so fixated on blocking attacks.”

“I understand. And I suppose I can try a mechanism like that suggestion, if you insist.” Antauri was pulled closer to Gibson. He held onto him, and Antauri feeling the fear he put into him. They were both overwhelmed, and scared for the other. Antauri on edge after losing control, and Gibson at the reminder of Antauri’s previous death.

They heard Nova and Otto arrive first. Both taking one of them carefully back to the super robot. Antauri and Gibson feeling they had a lot to talk to the other about after this. But now seeing as their current enemy has plans to destroy their own tracks, they’ll need to balance it with pinning the perpetrator down.

So yes! We begin at the end! What I love about this song is The line “You’re just my happening” indicates a relationship that was fleeting and was never meant to last. Despite it being a ‘cooler’ song, it kind of sets the mood and the overall theme of love that never stays, but must change.

the other akmu song!! naturally. this song is not a love song, but instead an “I want” song! and i think it works for both Wendy and Atta. Both want freedom, the chance to be who they are. It represents Wendy’s more “chill” philosophy and also what Atta can never have... though she tasted, when she was with her. I placed it in the middle, in my summer section, because I think the electric guitar and the build remind me of those afternoon thunderstorms that happen during humid summer days. 

Pinwheel: 

hey this is one of my favorite svt songs ever and i just wanted to acknowledge that but also its so full of pining and ugh gorgeous imagery. Basically the speaker compares themselves to a lonely pinwheel blowing in the cold wind-- but they keep spinning, in hopes their lover will “come round and round” again. :(

These songs are both Japanese releases and for some reason all bts japanese songs are so sad???? These songs for me are just Peak Yearn. Like. This is what it sounds like to love someone from afar, to carry melancholy inside you, to want the best for them but know you’re not the one who can give it to them, so you have to let go. (they have another japanese song called ‘let go’ that i almost put on here but i did not but. basically same.)  it’s that sadness and some othe imagery esp in crystal snow that make them also sound like winter. 

They also contain something essential: hope.

I have eczema too do you have any tips on dealing with it?

ooooof. ok content warning for discussion of Gross Things and injuries and lowkey self-harm below the cut

so. I grew up with like, SEVERE severe eczema. as in, huge open sores all over my arms, legs, hands, feet, and sometimes neck/face/ears. ones that never went away. my quality of life was…not great, lol. I frequently got staph and other infections, I had to wear long pants and long sleeves at all times, it hurt to shower or bathe or swim and salt water was RIGHT out, people avoided me because my appearance grossed them out, and still other people (frequently adults and teachers) saw the injuries and assumed I was self-harming, which. I mean, the scabs were itchy as fuck, and I frequently scratched them open (gross gross GROSS and yet I still did it!) so in that sense it sometimes…was? but was also a very involuntary and physiological medical condition, so when people who didn’t know me told me it was self-harm that felt horribly dismissive of my feelings and agency. (like…to this day I still couldn’t tell you if it was self-harm. maybe it was part self-harm and part medical condition, I have no idea.) basically it was a lot of discomfort, a lot of pain (to this day I have a freakishly high pain tolerance) and a lot of gargantuan struggles with self-esteem, body image, and social stuff.

people (including many doctors) also told me I would “grow out of it.” 

I did not. some people do, but like. come on asshole that’s not a fucking solution, you expect me to sit here covered in scabs until puberty maybe fixes everything? shut the fuck up steven

what happened to me was that my mom is a fucking terminator who did tons of research and eventually, through sheer persistence, got me in to see one of the best dermatologists in the area. this guy took one look at me and went, “yeah, you need UV treatments.” so that is what I got, for about 2.5 years during middle school—basically went twice a week to get zapped by an upright tanning booth. sometimes had sunburn in the dead of winter. it was weird (and it isn’t for everyone because there is of course the risk of skin cancer), but it eventually worked on all but two areas: my right hand and left foot. took another year of trying to treat those two places with medicated bandages and shit before they finally gave up and injected steroids directly into my hand and foot, which hurt like a biiiiiiitch but worked within weeks.

so that was pretty much my Eczema Journey. by high school, I had gone from walking around bleeding all over the place (seriously, jasper would’ve killed my delicious ass SO FAST, what the fuck is a papercut lol bella get on my level) to having a pretty good quality of life, my eczema reduced to “irritating dry skin.”

today, 1/9/20, to take stock, I have:

gross dry hands because it’s flu season and I’ve been washing them a lot

perpetually chapped lips

one (1) cut on the corner of my lip that has been there since december and refuses to heal ugh

which is like absolutely nothing to me, I spend every day so grateful that my skin has been basically fixed and now does its one (1) job of holding my blood and guts in

before I was Cured, there were a couple of things dermatologists had me do that might help you

…they didn’t always help me but here they are

1. mineral oil baths. they are gross but they will leave you feeling like a snail (effervescent) or a greased pig, or a p*rn star because you’re covered in slippry slime lmao. it’s supposed to help form a barrier to protect your skin? idk man sometimes these made me itchier but I’m just one person

2. chlorine bleach baths—please note that this means A TINY AMOUNT OF BLEACH diluted in water, not a bath in 100% bleach lol fucking ow. these are good for killing bacteria and preventing staph infections, etc.

3. going to the pool. same deal as the bleach bath, the chlorine kills bacteria.

4. get some sun. UV rays in the right amount are good for eczema, as my particular case proves. but like, don’t get skin cancer. it’s a balancing act.

things I still do now that I’m Cured 

…and have a normal, manageable level of eczema (some of these are no-brainers but idk your life so bear with me)

1. moisturize constantly. I never leave the house without a travel-size tube of moisturizer. I moisturize every morning, every night, and as needed throughout the day. this requires keeping a giant thing of moisturizer by my bed like some kind of gross h*ntai-addicted teen boy, but whatever that’s a sacrifice I have to make

2. ALWAYS moisturize after getting wet in a pool/shower/etc. like, within minutes. PAT your skin dry, don’t rub, and then moisturize immediately.

3. but also? don’t get affected areas wet that often if you can help it. take sponge baths rather than showers sometimes, or shower in cooler water. when it comes to avoiding washing your hands without spreading Spanish Influenza et al, hand sanitizer is your friend.

5. use a generic, non-cosmetic moisturizer. I can’t stress this enough. I am currently not on any prescriptions, which means I get my stuff over the counter. but my skin will absolutely not tolerate ANYTHING with any kind of cosmetic-y chemicals that make it Smell Nice or whatever. no aveeno, no neutrogena*, no…see I don’t even know what other brands are because I don’t use any of them. brands I use: cetaphil and cerave, and that’s IT. this goes for shower gel and other skin products, too! basically, the less Fancy and nice-smelling something is, the better it probably is for your skin.

*the one exception is neutrogena’s “sensitive skin” sunblock. that is the only sunblock I’ve found that doesn’t irritate my skin. is good.

6. same deal as #5 when it comes to laundry detergent. most brands will irritate your skin, so look for something labeled “sensitive skin” or “free and clear,” etc. 

7. fabric softener bad. do not use

8. for lips, I’ve heard aquaphor is good. hasn’t really worked for me, I just use regular chapstick and apply it like every 5 minutes. dermatologists have also recommended I use vaseline, but I don’t like to feel slimy (see #1a)

9. not to sound like a Live Laugh Love insta influencer, but stay hydrated! it’s extra important if you suffer from eczema. people aren’t kidding when they say it’s good for your skin.

10. kind of an obvious one, but if you have allergies, avoid the stuff you’re allergic to. ‘twill cause flare-ups.

11. try not to sweat. which isn’t to say, like, “don’t exercise ever,” but be ready to rinse off with fresh water and then moisturize immediately after you sweat.

so yeah, that’s my whole spiel. think I covered everything! but of course, different things work for different people. if anyone else has tips, feel free to comment with them!

36. what’s something you love about the world?REPTILES but uh, honestly?  If humanity wasn’t so much of a hivemind as it is now thanks to the internet and whatnot (which sounds terfy and suspiciously aphobic but stay with me) I feel like humanity would have such amazing potential to structure itself in such an amazing way.  And by the hivemind, I mean we’re all connected and most of us function off of the same idea of human rights and government format.  I really believe in the freedom of speech but it’s hard to defend it when homophobes are the majority instead of the minority.  Plus, humanity isn’t evil, but the way corporate capitalism is has beaten us all into heartless monsters.  Socialism WOULDN’T work in america at large because capitalism turned us into greedy bitches.  It’s not fundamentally flawed, but we’ve been shaped into something incompatible with socialism, sadly.  So I kind of just bitched about the world but my point is, humans are very flexible, and we can change so much in so little time.  It takes effort to change an entire culture, but the flexibility of human nature from generation to generation is heartwarming.
