Interest Check
A few months back I was asked if I would be willing to run a Fëanturi-centric event. I looked into it and since there was already a Fëanturi Week organized by someone else a few years back and we also have Ainur Week (September 1st - 9th, don't miss it!), I decided that committing to a full week would probably be suboptimal.
The alternative idea I came up with is a 3 day event, 1 day per Fëantur (for the purpose of this, Nienna also counts), that would ideally take place around Halloween, All Hallows' Day, Dead of the Dead (so October 31st, November 1st and 2nd).
I can't promise that I'll be able to do it this year, I have some more exams coming up in November, but I thought I should at least conduct an interest check. I'm also not expecting this to be huge - in fact it would suit me just fine to celebrate a cozy little spooky season among Fëanturi fans.
I have spoken about this with the mod of Ainur Week before btw, so no worries about that! We both think it'd be fine :)
Also: Saying yes absolutely doesn't mean you have to contribute! This is just about general interest :D

Introduction
Welcome to my Tumblr! My name is Tiger and I’m a hobbyist author and Quotev Refugee. Currently, I’m using Tumblr as a backup for all my oneshot works on Quotev, as well as the occasional meme. In the future, I’d like to post more oneshots on here as well <3 Currently moving all my full stories to AO3, I have linked the account in my bio, and will link all stories as well on here.
I mainly write yandere x reader stories, dabbling in horror, thriller, and romance. Some of my stories contain smut and dubious themes. As is the case with such types of stories, please refer to the tags and trigger warnings beforehand! Read at your own discretion. Minors do not interact with me concerning R18 stories.
Asks about my thoughts on topics, stories, headcanons etc. are allowed but I do not take oneshot/story requests.
With those disclaimers out of the way, I wish you happy reading!
Please note that this is still a WIP, only stories marked with (X) are available to read currently on Tumblr and/or AO3! For works without links, please check out my Quotev page.

A blizzard causes them to take refuge in an alpine hut, where they are confronted with the personification of Death. This story is told to children in order to warn them against staying out too late, especially in the cold winter months.

Pancakes Household: Chapter 9, Part 6
Onyx finishes their last day attending active high school solo
Onyx: Anyone seen Mrs T
Mrs Hensley: For your information Mrs Tinker is taking the younger class today, you’ll just be stuck with me
Onyx and Carson pull faces at each other over Amie’s desk. Mrs H is not a favourite of theirs. She is much more strict than Mrs T and Carson won’t soon forget when she yelled at him for not being in class before class even started. The idea of an hour of math led by her does not fill the soul with joy.
Mrs H: For today’s lesson we shall be focusing on the pie chart. Now there are several types of pie chart…
Darwin: *whispers* Apple or raspberry
William: *whispers* Definitely apple
Darwin: *whispers* Hot with ice cream, the only right answer
Mrs H: We will be focusing on teaching you two types which come in different forms, and yes- this will be on your exam
There is a general murmur of discontent through the class at the idea of exams.
After the class draws to a close Onyx realises the girl they gave Halloween candy to is sitting behind them, and decides to go say hi. She’s a little confused at first, after all she never saw their face under the helmet, but she gladly goes to lunch with Onyx and their friends, explaining that the bus from her town to the school only started recently.
Mr A: Pancakes. Were you paying attention in class
Onyx: Yes I was. You know my brother is starting this week so you’ll have to refer to me by my name soon
Mr A: But Pancakes is your name
Zhafira: *whistles* Wow, what a jerk
Onyx: I think he just finds calling us by our last names easier, he seems pretty daft for a principal if I'm honest
Carson: What did you do in art then
Scarlett: Oh we got to do these magazine collages, trying to represent one colour through various images
William: *sighs* I miss Mrs T
Onyx: You want to check out the roller rink?
Carson: I’ve still got some science homework to do, sorry Nyx
So Onyx goes and mucks about on the computer until it’s time for science class. Something glitched though and everyone got called to class at 3pm and the class day ended at 3:15... I have no explanation.
Back home Bob has the house to himself and Ginger while the younger Pancakes are off to their after school activities, Onyx has cheer-leading and Fergus has drama club. Bob is pretty happy with how the visit he and Eliza paid to the social worker went. They seemed to make a good impression and the woman assured them they were being put on the wait-list. Bob doesn’t normally like the idea of cheating his way through something but has called Aaron asking if he can keep an ear out for any situations that could get him and Eliza an infant sooner.
At the moment he’s running names through his head. If they’re lucky and get a young enough one they should be able to pick a name. The drone beeps reminding him that he’s meant to be talking to his fans, whoops, lost the train of thought there. Bob is able to cook a little on auto pilot these days but he should be following along with the baking closely to avoid disaster. Luckily the cake comes out perfectly! All ready for Fergus' birthday.
As Bob leaves for shift the kids arrive back and Onyx goes straight to setting the table.
Eliza: Are we ready for dinner
Onyx: Yes, I’ll grab Fergus
Eliza: I think you two should know I got promoted today
Fergus: YES! Treat time
Eliza: Why do you say that
Onyx: Mum last promotion we got the treehouse
Eliza: That was for rebate day
Fergus: *scoffs* Like that’s a real day
Ginger: *whines* I want to go walkies
Onyx: I know Ginger, I know, just let me finish this homework
Ginger: *whines* Hurry up, it's been 15 years
Onyx: Alright, pie chart done. Where’s your harness
Ginger: *barks* in my pockets
Onyx sets her up and then the pair head out for a night walk. Luckily they live in a good area so Onyx isn’t worried about their safety.
President, just two steps away from the top of the corporate ladder! Eliza feels proud she’s managed to get this far. The promotion also came with some bonus vacation days she’ll be able to use as substitute maternity days when they can get an infant. She continues the needlework she was doing and despite pricking herself once or twice finishes it off nicely.
Ginger: *barks* Is it bedtime mother
Eliza: Don’t worry Ginger, as soon as Bob gets back and eats, we’ll go to sleep
Ginger: *barks* I call dibs on the middle of the bed
Bob had another uneventful shift, before he can get a promotion he needs to increase his fame and baking. Nevertheless despite being gloomy he feels like it’s slowly getting closer. After finishing his meal he heads to bed to find Eliza sitting up awake.
Eliza: What did Aaron say? Can he pull any adoption strings?
Bob: He’ll put the word around to keep an ear out but it could take some time. Don't worry, it'll happen

CHAPTER FOUR: “Sutphin Boulevard”
"Believer - monologue exemplifies a lust. It's so true."
You didn't really like November.
The month between Halloween and Christmas was as useless as a trust fund kid hosting a charity event, which you did in fact have to attend with Tashi right after your exam week. Thankfully, you were not obligated to be present on campus besides exams and classes, giving you the excuse to not face your problems anywhere. You knew running away from it wouldn't last forever. However, it was the only thing you could do for now.
The first two weeks of November, Tashi and Chloe take turns spending time with you, making sure you weren't alone with your thoughts for too long. You tried to focus on your studies, excelling in them due to the lack of outside obstacles. You no longer wanted to attend gatherings as it was another way to run into him, only leaving your house if it was necessary.
Tashi had told your grandmother about the reason why you had taken the life of a hermit, so she gave you a position at her flower shop, thinking it would be nice to distract yourself from the noise.
All you could do was think about it, really. What you would do if he apologized, what would he say, and what would you say if he really wanted you. Or wanted nothing to do with you. You couldn't help it. You even made a pro and cons list on your phone when you were on the subway earlier that day, swearing to yourself as you thought you saw him sitting in the next cart over. It was not him. You weren't even in his neighborhood, for god's sake. It was you who had chose to cut contact with him, and you knew it was up to you if you wished to reconcile.
You stood behind the counter at work, busying yourself with bouquet assembly as Chloe wandered around the shop aimlessly.
"How many orders can you possibly get in one day?" Your best friend says, grabbing a lily and sniffing it before putting it back in it's place.
"The people are very grateful for Thanksgiving, you know." You say, tying up your 10th order of the afternoon. "If you're bored then you can help me out." You suggest to Chloe, who pretends to think in deep thought for a moment.
"I'm okay, thanks though." She smiles, taking bite of her shawarma wrap that she bought across the street. She had gotten you one as well, which you already devoured about an hour ago. "So," She starts speaking, swallowing her food. "You feel like coming out of hiding for the Manhattan holiday market? We could go skating, too. Tis the season!" She says in a sing-song voice, shimmying her shoulders.
You laugh, starting another order. "Yeah, sure. I used to be a figure skater when I was younger, actually." You admit, putting away the last order of the day.
"Seriously? How am I hearing about this now?" Chloe asks, taking another bite of her wrap.
You shrug. "I haven't done it since I graduated high school. My parents..." You trail off, recalling the pain and anger of the divorce. It tore your house apart. "They didn't wanna pay for it anymore." You simply say, smiling slightly.
Chloe nods, finishing her last bite. "Well then it's settled. When's your shift over?" She asks.
"Well... technically I'm done the orders for today, but I have to stay around for another two hours." You say, glancing at the time on your phone.
"That's fine. I'll just do my homework here then." She says, grinning. "That okay?"
"Course, Chloe. You know I appreciate your company, I love ya." You say, deciding to pull out your new read from your bag.
"Awe, I love you too." She giggles. She takes a moment before speaking again. "Have you.. heard from him at all?" She asks timidly.
You frown slightly, your heart dropping. "No. Why?"
"Oh, okay." Chloe says, fiddling with her hands. "He asked me about you the other day." She looks up at you. "He's really sorry about what happened, you know."
"Good, he better be." You say curtly, tucking your hair behind your ear.
"I think you should talk to him." Chloe says abruptly. "I-I know you don't want to see him and you know I don't like the guy." She laughs before continuing. "But he looked devastated dude. Like, really upset that I wouldn't tell him anything about you." She says, pursing her lips with a sympathetic look. She stares at you, but you say nothing. "Just think about it, okay? It might be nice for you guys to resolve things. I know you're not happy about it either." She says.
"Yeah, I will." You say flatly, trying to focus on your novel. "I have more important things to do than think about that."
"Sorry but, were you there when literally complained about it for half an hour over margaritas for movie night two days ago?" She recalls, raising a brow.
You shift your body from one foot to the other. "I was drunk, everyone complains about stupid shit when they're drunk." You argue, trying to read your book.
Chloe scoffs. "You're really stubborn, you know that?" She says, closing your book.
"Hey I was reading that!" You say, glaring at her.
"You can't keep avoiding him forever." Chloe says sternly. She sighs when she sees you frown. "I'm sorry, I just care about you a lot dude. I don't want you to keep feeling this way. You care about him, and he cares about you too. I can tell." She says softly, crossing her arms.
You hold your face in your hands, groaning like an overstimulated child. "If it'll make you happy," You throw your arms out in defeat. "I'll talk to him! Fine!" You exclaim.
"Thank you! Finally!" Chloe exasperates, mirroring your actions. "Jesus, Tashi owes me twenty dollars." She breathes out.
You gasp. "You guys betted on me?!"
Chloe stammers. "I-I uh, nooo..." You squint your eyes at her. "...Yes?" She squeaks. "Please don't be mad! We both wanted this to be over with!" She explains, holding your arms. "It's out of love."
A customer then walks in, causing the both of you to go quiet.
"We'll talk about this later." You mutter. "Hello! Welcome!" You greet the customer warmly. "Can I interest you in our Thanksgiving arrangements?"
-
"Do you think I should get this ornament for her? She likes cats." Chloe asks, holding up a felt ornament that resembled an orange tabby cat.
"You've literally been on one date." You point out.
"And? Have you ever heard of lesbianism?" Chloe retorts, putting the decoration back down.
"I thought you were all for breaking stereotypes, not becoming the definitive version of one." You jest, looking around.
Before hitting the rink, you and Chloe decided to see the Christmas market in downtown Manhattan. The various different stalls of gifts and treats galore were very alluring, but god was it expensive. You had decided to buy a hot coco the size of your hand made from pure chocolate, and that alone was creating a dent in your wallet.
"God Christ everything is so expensive." You say, although you knew your statement didn't make any difference. Most of the vendors were trying to make an income, it wasn't their fault. Well, for the most part at least.
"That's what makes it a New York Christmas, baby." Chloe states, doing some weird shake with her hands that resembled jazz hands.
"The closest thing we had to this back at home was my next door neighbor selling mulled wine for ten dollars." You explain flatly. "Capitalism is a beautiful thing." You hum, already finishing your hot chocolate. "I already finished my three ounce drink, what a pity." You say sarcastically, discarding it in a nearby bin.
"Let's just go skating then. I'm kind of over this too." Chloe says, rubbing her hands together. "Fuck my hands are cold." She complains, breathing on them heavy to warm them up.
"Didn't I remind you to pack gloves like four times this morning?" You recount, pulling out a spare pair from your messenger bag. "Take these."
"How would I survive with you?" Chloe says, kissing your cheek gingerly.
You grimace, wiping your cheek. "I'm surprised you haven't died yet, to be honest." You joke, the both of you laughing.
-
The two of you make it to the Wollman rink in Central Park, and to no surprise, had to buy admission.
"I can't believe it costed ten dollars to skate for an hour." You complain, tying up your rental skates.
Chloe doesn't respond right away, distracted by texting someone on her phone. You clear your throat.
"Huh?" She says looking up from her phone and putting it away in her pocket. "What were you saying?"
"Nevermind man." You say, dismissing your statement.
The two of you climb onto the ice, only taking a few strides before your skills came back to you. You held back a laugh as Chloe's legs wobbled, unable to let go of the railing.
"Chloe, it's not that hard I promise. Just push yourself forward." You say, reaching out to her. "You can hold onto me if you want!"
"Fuck no, I'm chill." She states firmly, putting a hand up. "Just give me some time to warm up. Go do some laps or something." She reassures, gesturing for you to go ahead.
"Alright then." You shrug, turning away. You glide gracefully across the ice, feeling the spirit of the holidays warm you up as Last Christmas By Wham! plays over the speakers. You're doing forward and backward spins, overjoyed by the reconnection of your old passion. You're grinning madly as you smoothly skate between people, nearby children very entertained by your moves.
You try to find Chloe, who seems to have disappeared. Confused, you slow down your pace, yet keep gliding in circles. You turn and face one of the entrances to the ice, seeing the last person you'd ever expect to.
Patrick is standing there, watching you from the edge of the rink.
You forget how to stop yourself, causing the loss of balance. Before you realize what's happening, you've landed on your back. You groan loudly as the ice makes contact with your body, knowing you were going to feel it tomorrow. "Shit." You whisper, wincing as you sit up and hold your head. That's what you get for being too cocky with your strides.
You hear the scuffling of shoes beside you, looking up to make eye contact with Patrick.
He looks at you with concern, a sheepish smile on his face. "If I was supposed to catch you, I did not get the memo." He jokes, offering a hand.
You glare at him, getting up by yourself and ignoring his offer to help. "Why are you here?" You ask passive aggressively, skating past him to step off the ice.
"To talk to you!" He exclaims, trying to keep pace with you. He nearly slips at least three times before stepping off the rink.
You're flustered, and very annoyed with his presence. "Well, you've spoken! You may leave now." You say bitterly, walking over to the worker in charge of shoe rentals in order to get your boots back.
"No, don't do this right now." Patrick pleas. He awkwardly waits for you as you ignore him, retrieving your shoes then sitting down on a bench to change out your skates. "Chloe said you wanted to talk, so I came here." He admits, crouching in front of you to meet your eyes. He places a hand on your knee.
You glare at him. "Chloe told you to come here? No wonder she was on her phone so much." You mutter, taking off your skates and also knocking off his touch from your knee.
"Can we please go somewhere else and talk?" He asks, nearly begging you on his knees. You continue to pretend you don't hear him, putting on your shoes then getting up to hand over your skates to the worker, thanking him.
"You can't ignore me forever." Patrick exasperates, getting up and following you as you start walking away from the rink.
"Where's Chloe?" You ask yourself, looking around for your friend.
"She's with Art," Patrick explains. You finally look at him, confused. "He came with me." He says.
You roll your eyes, readjusting your scarf as the two of you continue to walk through the park. You finally decide to sit down on a nearby bench, allowing space for Patrick to sit beside you. You didn't feel like walking away from him anymore.
He does so hesitantly, looking at you from the corner of his eye. "We've both been avoiding each other," He says calmly, sighing. "I don't understand why."
You stay quiet, looking forward.
"Are you choosing to become a mute right now?" He asks, still no response from you. "Fine, alright then." He says, leaning back against the bench. "I've missed this, you know. Your stubbornness." He says, now looking right at you, the side of your face at least. "And you." He adds quietly.
You then finally look at him, your heart skipping a beat as the two of you make eye contact. "Anything else?" You say flatly, as if it was obvious that he would miss someone as great as you.
Patrick scoffs, laughing as well. "Nope, that's it." He jokes, sitting up straight. "I um, I wanted to apologize." His tone switches, sounding very sincere. "What happened last month was very out of line, and I shouldn't have done what I did. I guess I didn't like the fact that your attention wasn't on me for some selfish reason, but that doesn't mean I should've kissed you." He admits, sighing. "That was very uncool, and I shouldn't have led you on like that." He finishes.
You look down at the ground for a moment, taking in his words. You wanted to tell him that you wish he'd kiss you like he meant it, not that he was being selfish and thinking with his groin. You knew what was best, and feeling a little hesitant about accepting his apology.
"Can you please say something?" He says quietly, frowning at you slightly.
You look back up at him. "I'm not sure what you want me to say." You mumble, tucking a loose piece of hair behind your ear. "I have been thinking this over a lot, you know." You look up at him. "I'm also sorry for how I reacted. You didn't deserve for me to just cut you off without explanation." You reason.
Patrick smiles weakly at you. "Don't apologize please. I deserved that. Made me more insightful if anything." He tries to joke, shrugging his shoulders.
"Yeah, you needed that more than most." You joke, nudging Patrick. He chuckles slightly. "I forgive you." You finally say, smiling at him. "I-"
"But-" He starts to say.
"Sorry, go ahead." You say.
"No, you first." He insists.
You nod, taking a moment. You're grateful for his apology, that is evident. However, you have to make a decision for the better. You're not just looking to fill the void of what you thought could've been, but rather to move forward in a healthy way. If he didn't feel the same, it wasn't worth confessing to anything.
"I want us to be friends, Patrick." You say adamantly, looking at Patrick for a response. You watch as his face falters, quickly covering it up with a meek smile.
"I think that's a good idea, yeah." He says, although not sounding very confident in his own words.
You search in his face whether or not he was lying. You couldn't read him, you were never good at it. "You don't sound so sure of yourself." You say, laughing awkwardly.
Patrick shakes his head, smiling even more. "Sorry, I am. I want us to be friends." He says affirmatively, although he wasn't sure if he was just saying out loud to convince himself.
"Good." You smile. "I missed you too, dumbass." You say, raising your hand for a high five.
Patrick stares at you for a moment, laughing before smacking your hand with his own. "You're so fucking weird."
You gasp. "What? I'm not a big hugger." You say in defense.
"That's fine." Patrick says, sticking his hands in his pockets and leaning back. "I didn't wanna hug you anyways." He shrugs.
You eye him closely for a few moments before going in, hugging him from the side hastily. His eyes widen, letting your warmth fill him up before he slowly hugs you back. He wouldn't say it out loud, but he really liked the sensation of getting a hug from you, even if it was against your own wishes.
-
A few days later, Patrick is spending the night at your place. You had both met up to do homework together earlier that day, you suggesting if he wanted to come over to watch some comedy movies together.
"How is a sheet of moist supposed to make my skin look better? I feel like a snail has ran across it." Patrick asks monotonously, trying not to move his face so much.
You both were wearing sheet masks that resemble cartoonish animals, managing to convince him to do some self care together to rewind on a Sunday evening.
"Wait, don't move." You pull your phone out and take a photo of him.
He simply stares up at you from the desk chair.
"Oh Jesus." You say, laughing manically as you look back at the photo. Your facemask starts coming off, deciding to discard it entirely.
"What? Do I not look beautiful like you promised?" Patrick asks, feigning being upset. He also takes off his mask, throwing it away.
"You look just fine, now hold on."You exit your room and grab a face towel from the bathroom, dabbing the excess moisturizer before returning to your room and handing it over to him. "I also have a gua sha I'm gonna use on your face, is that okay?" You ask.
He furrows his brows at you, dabbing his own face now. "A what now?" He says, utterly confused by the item he's never heard of before.
You retrieve your gua sha from your desk drawer. "It's to de-puff your face and make sure you have good circulation. I'll be gentle, I promise." You say in a taunting manner, grabbing ahold of his chin to tilt his face up towards you.
He stares at you as you glide the rose quartz stone across his face slowly, focusing on his bone structure. "It feels cold." He whispers, staring into your eyes a little too intensely.
"It's supposed to feel good, Patrick." You tell him.
"It does." He simply says, keeping eye contact with you. The both of you stare at each other for a moment as your movements cease.
You clear your throat, walking away to sit at your vanity and use the gua sha on yourself. "This is what a lot of women do every day, you know." you say matter-of-factly.
"Why? It makes no sense. These extra serums and shit, it's like witchcraft or something." He mumbles, his face flushed red. You assume you may have put too much pressure on his skin, not that he was flustered in any way. No, surely not. "All women are beautiful." He states, moving over to your bed.
"I know you think that, most of them can't escape your wrath." You say smugly, putting away your skincare.
"What? You jealous or something?" He says playfully, laying on his side with his arm holding up his head. "You had your chance."
"Oh how will I ever live?" You sigh dramatically. "Oh right, peacefully." You remark, getting up to join him on your bed.
Patrick sticks his tongue out at you in response.
"Very mature, Zweig." You say, leaning against the headboard as you grab the remote and turn on a streaming service.
"Have you seen the new Thor movie yet?" He asks, sitting up to lean his back against the wall.
"Nope, why you ask?" You say, putting on Glee.
He groans. "Glee? Seriously? You're just like my sister."
"It's fun! just watch a few episodes with me."
"I have no options, I know." He says in defeat. "But I was wondering if you wanted to see Thor on Friday." He asks.
You almost say yes, but realize very quickly that you were unavailable, because of a date. "I can't, sorry. I'm actually already going to the movies with someone else." You say, shrugging as you focus on the television.
The day after you and Patrick reconciled, a very attractive man you recognized from campus came into your work. He hung around for an hour, simply conversating with you before asking you out on a date later on in the week. His name was Seth.
"And who's more important than me?" He says, pointing to himself.
"If you must know, I have a date." You state, grabbing your diet coke off the coaster and taking a sip.
Patrick smirks, eyeing you closely. "Ooh, a date. With who?"
"Does it matter?" You quip. "It's just some guy."
"It can't be just some guy if you, the pickiest person of all time, said yes to him." Patrick states, poking your leg. "Just tell me! Maybe I know the guy."
You purse your lips before deciding to tell him. "His name is Aaron, he studies Art History at school."
"Hmm, doesn't ring a bell. Sounds like a total fucking nerd if you ask me." He mumbles, turning his head to face the television.
"Well good thing I didn't, Patrick." You say in annoyance.
"Why are you always so defensive? I'm just asking you a question." He whines, tilting his head back.
Sorry, I just didn't think you'd care so much." You say, repositioning yourself.
"I'm your friend, I think it's fair give a shit about you sometimes." He argues. "Especially if you're dating randos."
"He's not a rando, I met him at work. Not on the internet mom." You say sarcastically, causing Patrick to laugh in response.
"Still, he could be a weirdo and you just don't know it yet." He tries to explain, speaking mainly with his hands. "He could lead you to a vacant parking lot at midnight then kill you, or other evil things." He says.
"You're starting to sound like those podcasts you've been listening to. Fucking relax." You say firmly. "Nothing is gonna happen. He's taking me to see Gravity at the movies and that is all. Dinner too, I think. I don't know where because he's surprising me." You simply state.
"Gravity? I thought you had a fear of space." Patrick says quizzically, furrowing his brows.
"Well I tried suggesting that remake of Carrie, but he hates horror movies." You admit.
"But you love horror movies?" Patrick says rhetorically, scoffing. "He already sounds like a horrible match, maybe I'm just crazy though." He says, putting his hands up before clasping them together in his lap.
"If I didn't know you already, I'd say you're jealous." You mutter.
Patrick reaches over you, taking the remote and pausing the television. "I'm not." He says firmly. "I just don't want you to waste your time on someone not worthwhile and you're ignoring the fact."
"You're not gonna let this go, are you?" You snap, laughing out of annoyance. "It's just a fucking date, it's not like I'm gonna marry the guy. Christ Patrick." You exclaim, standing up from your bed.
Patrick sighs. "I know, I know." He says. "Calm down, you're taking my word too seriously!" He argues, staying on your bed.
"Just drop it, okay? I don't wanna talk about it anymore. Clearly it's a sensitive topic for some reason."
"It's not! God, no it's not." Patrick tries to reason. "I'm sorry, it's not that serious. I just care about you."
You glare at him, crossing your arms. "You mean it?"
"I mean it." He heavily accentuates. "I hope it goes well, for your sake." He says.
"Yeah, me too." You say, although now unsure of yourself. "Me too." You whisper to yourself.
-
It's Friday, November 29th. The cusp of the true holiday season, and the end of a drought for your romantic conquests.
The date was going great, incredible even. The two of you got along swell, and any worries you had about him has dissipated as the night went on. You and Aaron just had some Italian dinner at a restaurant a block away, and had just set foot into the movie theatre. It was small, but had its unique charm that has stood against time.
"You excited for the movie? It has great reviews so far." He grins, hand in hand with you.
"I'm not great with space stuff to be honest, but I'm stoked nonetheless." You admit, smiling shyly.
"Really?" Aaron's eyes widen. "You should've told me, we don't have to see it..." He says, halting the two of you in front of the snack counter.
"No, it's fine. It's not a bother." You say, smiling.
The two of you are now in the screening room, waiting patiently as advertisements cross over the screen. Aaron is already eating his popcorn, and you're scrolling aimlessly on your phone. You see a new Instagram post from Patrick, recognizing the photo had been taken by you.

pat_zweig: naughty or nice?
You laugh quietly to yourself, leaving a comment on his post.
loverg1rl: you're getting coal in your stocking. photo creds btw? hello
You put away your phone, turning it off as the movie begins. You can't help but redirect your thoughts over to Patrick, wondering if he was enjoying his evening. Maybe you'd be watching Thor: The Dark World with him, and enjoying it a lot more than the motion sickness you're about to endure due to the outer space set up.
You start thinking about how this date would go if it was with Patrick instead, finding yourself slowly imagining him instead of Aaron. You knew it was bad, horrible even. You couldn't help yourself, he's left such an impact on you since you moved to the big apple.
Patrick Zweig was something you could not have, no matter how much you wish you could. It was pointless, everything would end in flames if you tried. Why not? You'd ask yourself, but why? You also say.
You look over at Aaron, smiling when he makes eye contact with you. Without thinking, you lean in and kiss him. He kisses you back, and it feels wonderful. This is how it's supposed to be; no pain, just pleasure. You ignore the feeling that you're forcing yourself, you just aren't used to Aaron yet.
You'll learn to like someone else, even if they're not who you really want.
The movie ends. You find yourself outside with Aaron, the cold air engulfing the two of you.
"That was insane, maybe of my favorite movie of the year." Aaron says, smiling wildly.
"It was good, yeah." You say casually, checking your phone. Patrick texted you, his name saved as the one he put in your phone as.
Patrick the Almighty: how's the date? i'm at art's. chloe's here, we're watching glee. thinking of you
You smile fondly at your screen.
"How are you getting home tonight?" Aaron asks, taking your attention away from your phone.
"Oh, my cousin is picking me up." You say, putting your phone in your pocket.
"I see, the tennis star right?" He says, referring to your conversation from dinner.
"Yes, the tennis star." You laugh. "I'm sleeping over at her house, so." You add.
"That's very cute, I haven't had a sleepover with my cousins since I was a kid." Aaron says, looking off to the side for a moment before returning his gaze to you. "I can wait with you, if that's okay." He suggests.
"Sure, I'd like that a lot actually." You say, grinning madly.
"Do you mind if I smoke?" Aaron asks, pulling out a pack of what you presumed to be cigarettes.
"Go ahead, I smoke too." You say.
"Weed?" He asks, almost giddy to hear you say it.
"Oh, no... cigarettes." You say sheepishly.
"Oh!" He says, raising his brows. "These are joints, sorry." He says, referring to the pack in his hands. He takes one and sticks it in his mouth. "Is that alright still?"
"Yeah, course. I've had it a few times before, back in Canada." You say, zipping up your jacket as the cold breeze creeps under your blouse.
He nods, lighting up the joint. "Did you... Want some?" He asks, inhaling then exhaling the joint.
You stand in silence for a moment, debating. "Yeah, sure."
He hands the joint over, allowing you to take hold of it.
You bring it to your mouth and inhale, holding it like a cigarette. You exhale, coughing a few times but holding your composure. "Fuck. That shit bites." You wince, taking another hit before handing it back to him.
Aaron laughs, taking the joint back gingerly. A vehicle pulls up beside the two of you, Tashi revealed in the driver's seat as the window rolls down.
"Gotta go." You say, tilting your head towards the car. "I'll see you, yeah?" You grin, giving Aaron a wink as you open the passenger seat.
"Yeah, see you." He says, inhaling his joint and giving you a small wave before you close the door.
"Well well well," Tashi grins, driving away. "He's fucking hot." She says, tapping on the wheel in sync with the music.
"Oh, I know." You say, the joint taking over your senses. "I smoked weed with him." You say abruptly, giggling profusely.
"Are you high?" Tashi asks, gasping as a smirk grows on her face.
"Mmm, a little." You grin, pressing your cold hands to your warm cheeks.
"You must've had a good time then." She laughs, looking over at you quickly. "My mom has some news to tell us once we get to the house, so I hope you can keep it together."
"What?" You gasp, turning to face Tashi. "What is it? Tell me now!" Your urge, grabbing her arm.
"Hey, I'm driving!" She exclaims, swatting your arm away.
"Sorry, sorry!" You apologize, sitting back in your seat. "Is it to celebrate your exam results?" You ask, your stomach grumbling. "I'm hungry." You whisper.
Tashi laughs profusely, trying to hold it together for the rest of the ride. "Well, kind of. It's to celebrate us both." She says, her smile never leaving her face.
"Can we go to Mcdonalds? I want a happy meal." You say, rolling the window down.
"It's cold! Don't do that!" Tashi warns, rolling the window back up with her driver control.
"But I'm too hot!" You exasperate.
Tashi groans, turning off the heat in the car. "You're too high." She argues, turning into the closest Mcdonalds.
-
You enter the Duncan household with Tashi, managing to sober up a bit after your nugget meal and finishing off the bottle of water your cousin keeps in the car as always.
"Mom! We're here!" Tashi yells, leading you into the living room.
Diane and Mike were sitting on the couch, Diane with a book and Mike with amaretto on the rocks, his usual. The radio plays in the distance.
"Hello girls." Diane grins, putting her book down. "How was the date?" She asks you directly, catching you off guard.
"Oh, it was great, yeah." You say quietly, looking down at your hands.
"He's very nice to look at, and seems to be very nice mom. He's good friends with Emeline, from my ethics class." Tashi adds, sitting down in a nearby armchair. You quickly sit down as well.
"Has Tashi told you the big news yet?" Diane grins, clasping her hands together.
"Erm, no. No yet... What's going on?" You ask, giggling awkwardly.
"We are going... To Italy!" She exclaims, waiting for your reaction.
You gasp, covering your mouth with your hands. "No fucking way!" You exclaim, cheering with Tashi.
"We're going with Michelle and her family, we hadn't gone travelling together since we were in college so..." Diane adds, watching both of your faces falter slightly.
"Michelle? As in the Zweigs?" You ask, mouth slightly agape. You quickly pull out your phone to text back Patrick.
"Yes, that Michelle." Diane says, laughing. She notices the look on your faces. "That's fine, right? You're both good friends with Patrick I figured it was okay?" She says.
You: we're going to fucking italy????
He texts you back instantly.
Patrick the Almighty: my mom just called me about it. isn't this fucking awesome??
You forcibly smile towards Diane, still a bit too high to comprehend it. "No, it's great." You say through gritted teeth, exchanging worried glances with Tashi.
Great. Fucking awesome.

Updating by writing you guys this huge post. I mean it, it's really long xD
Heeey-ho!
I know, I know, I couldn't keep my Halloween promise T-T
Tha Halloween gods are now shouting at me "HOW COULD YOU?!"
Die Halloween gods, slowly coming after me - black and white edition
As it has happened before, I'll be posting both Dante and Vergil's part during november. I'm still working on them, so it might take a while. Do apologise.
They will be here, just with a little delay. I do think Halloween should last more than just a few days, so screw it, until Christmas, it's still legal to celebrate Halloween at the Bibliothéque \o/
Now, now, for those who don't like too much talking, I'll be explaining a little bit below why I'm taking so long. Feel free to skip it if you don't want to read it, no worries ;)
(There's a "conclusion and TL;DR for those who don't want to read this whole novel" in pink down there if you want to scroll down to that point!)
As *not* expected, my health took a crazy downturn. I know I say it all the time, but hell, I've no idea what gives this time. I literally stopped everything. I spend most of the day in pain and the rest of it sleeping. That's it.
I have an appointment with my doctor next week, but I'm not too much hopeful. Last exams showed I have two ulcers - which means scarring and bleeding in the stomach - that can be literally anything.
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty worried it can be something worse than I was expecting, although it never even appeared to exist before, but well... My anxiety isn't exactly logic.
Secondly, as you guys might not know, I'm graduated in Law, worked as a lawyer for 5+ years before having a burnout and all those health issues (yeah, yeah, don't do what I've done, all that sort of thing). But something you don't know, and honestly probably only my close family knows and cares about, is that my graduation thesis was "The Conflict of Israel x Palestine and International Law".
I researched it for 3 years before defending my thesis, got a college prize for it, the professor who mentored me made a huge speech on how I proved "we women can do it on academia and research" and that my work was really nice. I'm not saying all this 'cause I'm boasting, I'm just saying I know what I'm talking about (because you know, who has never met a man who thinks their opinion is better than yours "just because" while you have a fucking huge CV on research and graduated with honors on the same matter but, somehow, you can't beat the opinion he just pulls out of his ass?).
All of this to say, I'm devastated by what's going on. This is more than politics to me. This was my thing, you know? I had a dream, stupid ~promising young woman~ dream of doing something with my intelligence to actually help people. To actually stop massacres of happening. I wanted to work at the UN, I wanted to speak with world leaders, to show people how much I can research and how much basic human rights matter so horrid things cannot happen ever again.
When the war broke and the bombings started, I followed the news. And then the news weren't reliable anymore. I started digging to find the truth - and hells, the truth is ugly and bloody. I think that's when all those last shards of dreams came crashing down. I thought I could do something, you know? Actually do something. But in the end, my parents were broke, I had to work to help at home, I kept sending my CV to the UN but I was never enough, and I just wasted my energy and health under the boots of someone who had more power and influence than me to break me and kill my career before it even started.
I felt so horribly powerless. So horribly broken. It seems stupid, but everything that is going on out there fells personal to me, I have history with it. And it broke me. Completely. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't force myself to at least watch the horrible things going on and try to like/share so the algorithm can make it reach other people.
That's all I can do.
You know, I have a lot of Vergil in me. For the things I wrote, I think you all can see I have a thing of "I never want to feel pain again and I want power so no one can never hurt me again" - that's why I think I want to kick his ass every time I see this fucking man being so emotionally constipated and ruthless because of his trauma. It's a way to protect himself, burning every path so he never feels powerless again - and I guess we all HATE to see the parts of our own personalities we hate the most in someone elese
So yeah. I know things took a dark turn on this one, but I decided to be honest with you guys - since I'm owing so many updates: the 2 Halloween fics, Nemesis and Survivor's Blood. I'm not really well currently, and only the gods know how much effort I'm making to keep it together... At least a little bit.
Physically, I'm like V. And I'm not even trying to be funny, every time I see that lil' goth twink I want to yeet him away because, hell, I'm MAD I see myself in him (mind you, I used to be more on Dante's side of the fitness spectre xD) - and not only regarding fitness, but tiredness. Falling apart. It's so... Harrowing. I think that's the word that fits the feeling better.
Mentally, I'm Vergil. I don't want to, I want to beat him with a stick, I want to yell at his face and kick his stupid ass, but damn. I get it. That crippling fear of not wanting to feel powerless again, to have people abuse you? The feeling you're trapped in your own body? The "feelings bring only pain and suffering"? The terrifying dread of discovering you failed at everything even with all your talents and never wanting to admit it? Check all of those. I hate you Vergil, but I get you.
I'm trying, though. I use writing as a coping mechanism and as a way to resolve many things mentally, but the last months have felt SO overwhelming I went back to my paralysed state of not being able to do anything and running away from things that remind me of all THAT.
You guys might be alarmed, but there's no reason to be, though. This is a ~moment~ I'm going through and I just need to sort it all out. I'm starting to get some warning signs of numbness, vivid nightmares of past issues, the paralysis, avoidance - but I've been there before. I just haven't figured out a way to pull myself together and I don't even remember how I did that once, so it might take me some time.
I don't know why, I had some sort of weird ~boost~ while thinking in the shower today, and I might know how to give the small steps to start getting back on track and gaining that momentum I need. This weekend I had to convince my mom to celebrate her birthday 'cause she's my Samwise Gamgee carrying me up Mount Doom and she wasn't in a mood to do so - therefore on monday, I have some things in mind to discuss with her and, hopefully, things will slowly go back to their place.
Conclusion and TL;DR for those who don't want to read this whole novel hahaha
THAT BEING SAID: I'm really sorry I can't deliver everything I wanted to you, guys. I didn't expect life to get so much more fucked up than it already was, but here we are. I just have to get used to the new pace of things, but it might take a while. My output of writing will be slow, but hey, after I can get out of that paralysis phase, I'll probably be writing more and posting more - 'cause I really, really love this. With all my heart.
(also, if you people see me active on my drawing thing, posting a bunch of things, it's 'cause I'm finally getting to look at all the art I've done but never posted and actually updating it and putting my art blog to some use I haven't in a while - I won't be creating new stuff. All old stuff I procrastinated as HELL and those will be some of my small steps to get out of this rut)
Now, as a last thing, I intend to use a video from a guy I always watch on youtube as some sort of guiding light in these trying times hahahaha but seriously, he has some really sound advice and he is so down to earth. Maybe someone who's going through some fucked up times can use his advice as well and unfuck their life too :)
youtube
That's it. I felt like I needed some raw honesty today. Like I said, small steps. This is part of it hahahaha
I hope you guys understand. There's nothing I love more than writing, creating something for people - and all of this, everyone I met here and every single person that uses their time, which is the most precious thing we have, to read something I wrote gives me the greatest gift I can be given. You guys have no idea how much I appreciate you and how much I don't want to disappoint you.
So thank you. I will work slowly and I will need some time to get my shit together, but I'll always be here. I'll update everything I need and won't leave you hanging but you know... It's like Dracula Daily. It starts in April and finishes by the end of the year, taking time to put the letters together.
Aaaaand, if you read Lord of the Rings, the whole adventure takes a year. We are very much conditioned to be given content constantly to keep algorithms happy, but I do have a view that humans (and art for that matter) can't keep up with being content.
Zygmunt Bauman said we live in liquid times, and made the theory that everything is liquid nowadays (for people who like sociology and philosophy, I highly recommend his books, I love him with all my heart), so we're not really used to things that are a little more... Constant. Earthy, perhaps. Slow, stable, never leaving.
I try my best to be like that, not like a liquid, inconstant, fleeting presence. I want the things I do to be part of something that will stay, and I like being someone that stays - and doesn't just flow away because everything has to be fast and ever moving nowadays. The Bibliothéque is to be like that, I think, a place that no matter what, you can come back after ten months and you'll still find me here, drinking some tea and writing stuff. And I'll be happy to see you again, for as much as you can or would like to stay :)
kinda like Dante in his lil' shop :')
That's it. Thank you for reading me mumbling nonsensically in order to tell you I will keep updating my fanfiction, even if at a slow pace HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hope you guys have a fine weekend and a good next week! I'll be always lurking around, but the creation process will be a bit slow.
Will still be here to mumble randomly about DMC and scream random things in the void though :D
*me getting ready to tackle life for the next months, going like "still heeeeeeeeere bitch!!"*
***
And I'd like to add that I searched for "Obi Wan" on GIFs to find some sassy defying mood too add here and one of the first hits was this:
I'll leave you guys on this note 'cause I'm still wheezing about it, it's so friggin' on point I can't EVEN
#polaris speaks#update#life update#writing update#personal post#personal rant#ranting#rant post#and I meant it to be a little post going like 'haha it's gonna take a while to update'#but decided to be honest#I always think it's good when people I admire admit going through tough times or trauma or being broke or just overall not good#it makes me be less harsh on myself regarding everything I guess#so I thought this vulnerability from my part could do someone some good as it does for me when other people are vulnerable#I mean I'm hating it#seriously considering deleting this post once it goes live#don't know if I'm gonna do that but for now#I hope it helps someone#I really do#(don't worry Vergil is judging me from the distance the man would probably beat the shit out of me or hug me no in betweens with him)#Youtube

Day 2~ New Worlds
Another day and we’re back at it again for @khoc-week. Today I’m working with two prompts, one being the main prompt for the day, New Worlds, and the second from the alphabet list, Remember. As the incarnation of Light she has lived many lives in a constant cycle of reincarnation, and until around KH3 time she doesn’t remember any of them. I didn’t draw her new world forms, but I did include her with her dream eaters, the new worlds are covered more in the short story itself than the art.
The start of Kingdom Hearts 3 begins with Y taking her Mark of Mastery exam, hoping to gain the power needed to rescue Aqua, Terra, and Ventus. She faces several new worlds in their sleeping state. In this dream world learns more about herself and the past lives she’s lived.
Y was always happy when new worlds required an outfit change to avoid standing out. It was something fun that with barely anything she would already know something about the new world. She loved the fins she gained in Atlantica, and the pirate themed outfit for the Caribbean. Though she hadn’t been to Halloween Town since leaving the Organization she was excited at the prospect of what form she would take, since Sora was a vampire and X had turned into a werecat of sorts. Perhaps this world was in the same vein as Halloween Town. After all, she was painted like a skeleton.
Y was fairly sure it was some kind of paint anyways, most of her arms were covered in it. A surprising amount of detail was painted into the bones, Y was almost convinced she really was a skeleton. But her Komory Bat was still bumping into her arm, so it confirmed the flesh was still there. She just needed to seem like she wasn’t alive. Which made sense for what X had called the Land of the Dead.
Seeing the worlds she had faced in the Realm of Darkness was strange. And though they had returned them to the Light some were still caught in a limbo state. It offered more insight into the worlds than their shadows had.
“This place is even more heartbreaking now,” Y muttered to herself, standing in the piles of discarded belongings. It hadn’t made sense why so many things had been grouped together before. But knowing now, she wished she didn’t. “This is really all that’s left of them.”
The worst part of this world, Y had decided, was knowing when someone truly disappeared. Standing here she stood in all that was left of so many. Those that had been forgotten by everyone. Her heart ached looking at the broken toys and crafts. What had once been the most prized possessions of the forgotten.
All she could think of were the words Lea had said, a broad grin on his face. ‘In peoples memories he could live forever’. And maybe, with enough people he could last for a long time. After all, there were some here who had been residents for what must have felt like forever. Their families still spoke their names and told their stories. But even with all that forever, real forever, seemed like far too long. Eventually they would all fade.
Unless the one who remembered you would live forever.
Y took a few steps forward, carefully moving to step around her two bunny like dream eaters. The Me Me Bunny and Majik Lapin bounced to follow her movements as she tried to find some sort of logic to the rubble. Anything to tell her about the people who had once been here.
It was beginning to make sense, why X had always insisted on reciting the names in the keyblade graveyard. As his hand had brushed each key, he spoke their names into whatever echoing silence there was. Maybe he felt it was his responsibility as one who would see forever, to make sure their names did too. Or maybe it was the only way he could keep his friends from lives past with him. To make that forever a little less lonely.
A soft bump on her leg broke her train of thought. She smiled down at the Majik Lapin who had bumped her leg. She crouched down, placing her hand behind one of its ears.
“Sorry, just thinking,” Y said, forcing a smile and chuckle. The Me Me Bunny brushed her other hand, it was on instinct it came to rest in between its ears. All this thought of forever. She had seen what would count as forever, at least to those who hadn’t lived her lives. She could remember countless others who had been lost. “Who do you think will remember us?”
Who would remember those who live forever when the time finally comes?
We remember you. The soft voices in her mind chorused. She felt a bump on her shoulder, and with only a slight glance she could see the Komory Bat resting on her as if she were a perch.
“Thank you,” Y said softly. She titled her head to bump against the Spirit on her shoulder. The Spirits had been a comfort on what would have otherwise been a lonely exam. Being able to talk to anything made the thoughts seem smaller. “You know the last time I was here, there was this picture. It had all my friends from a long time ago in it. I didn’t remember them at the time. But I knew they were my friends just from the picture. It’s sad to think, because I didn’t remember their names they would have faded if they were here. At least if I was the only one who knew them.” She continued to brush her hand against the two dream eaters heads and nuzzle the Komory Bat with her head.
There were so many, all lost. Names ran through her mind one after the next each with only the faintest hint of a face before she moved on to the next person. One after the other. So many that maybe only she remembered.
“I don’t want them to be forgotten,” Y whispered. She pulled her hands back, resting over her heart. Their names a mantra in her thoughts, flashes of missions and games. Her friends. Her Dandelions. “Zia, Haku, Raito, Kirai, Jax, Annora, Skuld, Kariya, Saki, Anri.”
She listed their names, taking a pause to remember them as she did. The way Kariya had always had a sly grin and a smart word to pick a fight. They had met because of him picking a fight. And he was almost always with Zia, the stoic girl he could always be trusted to rile up. And Haku and Raito, the brothers forced to stand on opposing sides. Though it was always clear they were never into the fights of unions. Saki the bright girl who always guided her quiet friend, Anri who clung to her. They both could be trusted to listen whenever Kirai spoke though. Kirai their little wraith. The one who would always pull them from trouble before disappearing once again. Jax, the one who always had the answers until he didn’t. Annora the one who would never stop fighting their fate. And Skuld. A leader through and through.
“I miss them all.” Y whispered.
We’re here!
Kamiko remembers!
Missed you too!
Y gasped, looking up again at the three dream eaters with her. They all seemed to be bouncing happily, as if they hadn’t said anything strange at all. Her heart clenched as she looked at each in turn. Slowly piecing together what they meant. She had thought she knew their voices, though they were only echoes in her head.
“Wait,” Y said. Her eyes stopped on the Komory Bat. “Kariya?”
There it is. Somehow he still sounded so sly.
“Saki?” This time the Majik Lapin answered.
Here!
“Anri?”
We’re here. The Me Me Bunny repeated again.
Y felt her heart clench again, her eyes filling with tears as she looked at the dream eaters. Her friends. Still here. After all this time.
Part of her could only be confused. How had they gotten here, and in such a state? They were once wielders but now they were far from it. But the part of her heart that ached outweighed the confusion. She couldn’t help the way she reached for them, pulling them closer to her. She hadn’t had the time to process the missing pieces in her heart. They all felt like fresh wounds, raw and aching. The slightest thing filling her with pain once again. The heavy grief following her the more she remembered from her lives before. But now, there was something that filled the hole, even if just a little.
We’ll remember you. Anri’s soft voice said.
Maybe forever could be found in a dream.
“And I’ll remember you,” Y said. “I won’t ever let you fade.”

end of the year post.
heads up. if i sound sappy in some parts, i'm not sorry 🤍
as of me writing this, it's but a mere 20 minutes before it is officially the start of a new year.
it's a little surreal to believe that 2023 is coming to an end. a year that admittedly, was more emotionally and physically hectic for me. but i pushed through, and here i am going into 2024 as hopefully a better me.
to be honest, this year has been nothing but self reflection, realization and a lot of acceptance as well as embracing parts of myself that i thought i'd never return to. hobbies of mine like writing and drawing were ones i strayed away from for so, so long in 2023. but it more or so lead back into the tribulations i was facing then and still recovering from now.
it's a little surreal to me that months after months of doing nothing but reflection and getting back into what i love doing most just months before the year ended resulted into the me who decided to step into tumblr again and share my kuni ideas for the fun of it. that halloween fic i posted? just for shits and giggles at the time. but the fun i had writing it was a fun i wasn't able to feel throughout the entirety of 2023, and i admit the motivation boost i got from posting the fic afterwards, alongside checking in on the authors i used to follow just made something inside me click. and i went for it.
a bit more off topic but i still remember how i came back to genshin after a good five months or so in version 3.6 and doing the main event without knowledge of the sumeru quest line because i was avoiding spoilers. that day, i just finished taking an entrance exam for college and was exhausted from both the exam and from wearing myself out. midway into the introduction of the contestants; i was greeted with wanderer, or kuni in my vocabulary, being in the event and i was just smiling from ear to ear at the mere sight of him. feeling that same overflow of good emotions just take me whole to be honest, i was simply beyond happy. the way he spoke about writing about inazuma's societal issues because he was bored genuinely had me laughing for the first time that day.
i guess it's that simple little moment that hit me hard. it's silly, i'm aware, but it meant everything to me in a way. since that day in june; i was determined and full of creative drive to hopefully share at least one thing before the end of this year. look at me now, i have a series published that's yet to be finished so i can start on the next one in spring ( hopefully ), a one-shot to share for a moot and lastly... just a lot. i have a lot in store.
i have no right to say such things regarding my immense gratitude for the support i received from the few things i published, but the support i ended up getting on said few things — big and small — has made me realize that maybe i still feel very passionate about writing. that maybe i want to pursue the desire to publish all i have for that one fictional character that had my heart swoon the moment i saw him in a promotional trailer three years ago.
the ending note to 2023, starting october 31st when i published my first fic was a day that i'll always hold dear to me, my mutuals as well as the wonderful authors i follow made these past three months an absolute joy, and i cannot wait to make the most of my journey supporting each one of them ~
honestly i'm just rambling. but i am a professional yapper and to be honest i am writing all this on one cup of tea and like, six something hours of sleep i am absolutely not in the right headspace lmao. regardless! i am so so very glad to be here, to have survived an emotionally draining bitch of a year that was still an eventful year regardless to me, and starting the second of january... i shall be the bane of the scaranation's existence <3
we don't talk about how being that is actually a goal of mine because i think it'd be funny but i digress... 2024 will hopefully be just as much of an eventful year for me, for you, and everyone too. i believe that this year will be at least a little kinder to those who got absolutely shat on by 2023 ( pleek no more physical torment for me ) and if you're reading this, remember that this random stranger on the internet who's attempting to spread the kuni agenda is cheering you on for the year <3
i have a lot of stuff to share going forward. december was initially gonna be the month for all that but i had stuff going on that i ended prioritizing ( mainly my health ) so those initial plans will now move to the first month of a new year. mundanities with kabukimono will be finished in january, january 2nd will be interlocked eternities and lastly a late winter special that's actually a birthday gift for a mutual of mine ( mochi i am coming for you /menacingly )
oh it's 12 a.m. now, happy january first and happy 2024 everyone 🤍 may you be blessed with many wonderful days ahead. i shall see you on the second and third of january ~
#( ❀ ) ── the sixth kasan's announcement.#yes i am using that tag because this is important to me :)#anyways‚ i'm gonna go nod off for now .. it's funny how spent i feel despite not doing much today.

september 2019 - junior year
"everyone open theirs at the same time, got it?"
"but mine's got tape on it!"
"shut up, yuji."
"i already opened mine."
you dived across the table to snatch the paper out of megumi's hands, throwing him a look of irritation because of how he'd spoiled the entire thing. it only irked you further when he had the audacity to fix you with a glare himself.
"you just couldn't help yourself, could you?" you snapped, placing his timetable face down on the table, refraining from looking at it before he could despite the devil on your left shoulder whispering sweet nothings in your ear.
you gave in and flipped the sheet over. he ruined the order of things anyway, what was the point of adhering to the rules he never listened to to begin with?
"megumi!" you gasped, feeling enraged as you stared down at his timetable.
out of the nine classes you had, pre-calculus was the only one you shared with megumi. to your disbelief, you didn't even share homeroom, so the only other chances to see him were during study hall, break, and lunch, which felt far too short to make up for the overwhelming imbalance.
it didn't make sense, now that you analysed it further. with all the classes available, how was it that pre-calc was the only one you had in common? you felt a nagging frustration, trying to wrap your head around the fact that your paths would now cross so little this year despite the fact that you used to be attached to the hip before. every other subject offered countless opportunities to stick together, yet here you were, navigating a maze of schedules that kept you apart.
you caught yuji and nobara in your peripheral vision, both comparing their own timetables and bickering simultaneously.
megumi was a genius, extremely academically gifted, especially in stem. when it came to any branch of math, the kid aced every exam effortlessly.
and you weren't the worst at it, some would argue..?
the more you thought about it, the more bewildered you became — how could you end up sharing the one class that exposed all your weaknesses, the same one that he excelled in?
he flinched when your voice suddenly rose once more:
"you're taking ap stats?" you demanded, only just realising that he had one extra lesson than you, yuji, and nobara. it was at the very top of the table, labelled 'period 0'.
"don't give him an opportunity to act more pompous than he already is," scoffed nobara, looking uninterested. you did not comment on how she still peeked over the sheet when she thought you weren't looking.
"wow," yuji began, looking pleasantly in awe at megumi's hefty schedule. he leaned back in his seat, careful not to pull himself too far back in the event that he might fall off. you secretly wished that he would, if only to stifle your current shock. "so you'll start the day earlier... won't you be exhausted when we get to football practice?"
that was a good question. since coach yaga had stubbornly given both megumi and yuji spots on the school's football team, it had since been announced that practice would take place every day after school unless otherwise mentioned. with megumi's mornings starting earlier than the rest of you, and his days finishing later, he was bound to be torn down with exhaustion. although he acted like a robot all the time (eat, sleep, make a rude comment about you, repeat) he was still a human who needed rest. more school meant more social interaction. more social interaction meant a drained megumi. things would only go south from there.
he shrugged at the question.
"i'll be fine," he answered, unbothered.
you disagreed. "you'll die —"
"— revive me with your mermaid abilities then —"
you hoped you pinched him hard enough to bruise.
"wait," you said, halting your attack on him with a slow frown. he took the opportunity to rip your hands off his ribs and shuffled away from you. you ignored him, sliding down to sit hip-to-hip with him. "if you do ap stats in the morning, we can't walk to school together."
for the nth time that day, megumi snatched back his timetable from you.
"good luck," he said, eyes half-lidded with that ever-present air of indifference. "you cross the road like you have nine lives."
"you basically just told her that you wouldn't care if she died," yuji intervened, quick to jump to your defence despite the many times you would argue with him, too.
you glanced at him, eyes naturally drifting down to the obvious tan line on his neck from the vacation the four of you had attended with your family in the summer.
nobara scoffed, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear before pointing, accusatory, at megumi. "this is what happens when you hype him up," said nobara, her finger jabbed at him with enough aggression, any outsider would probably assume that he'd committed blasphemy — you liked to think he had.
"i'm surrounded by idiots," you thought you heard him mutter, his voice low enough to almost go unheard, though the faint tightening of his jaw gave him away.
waving his timetable at him, you unknowingly creased the smooth sheet. "speak up, porcupine."
"do you hate it when he mumbles, mother gothel?" said yuji, randomly turning on you instead.
your head might have had a fifty-fifty chance of snapping right off your neck with how fast you'd turned it to face yuji with a glare. of all the things he could have thrown at you, why did he pick a tangled reference, one that barely bit at your core?
"first of all, what the hell?" you responded, visibly and audibly startled. "secondly, you were supposed to be on my side —"
"yeah i know," he replied, breaking out of his character to speak to you in that usual, gentle and low voice of his, the one you were much familiar with, "but i just remembered that megumi might leave me behind after football practice, so i can't take any chances."
"you're a traitor!"
"it's every man for himself!"
to no one's surprise (except for yuji's), nobara, seizing the moment you had created, sent his head crashing forwards against the table. she'd apparently been waiting for the perfect opportunity for it, and you had handed it to her on a silver platter.
"y/n, swap," she said, sliding her timetable down and waiting for you to make the exchange, barely registering the groan of pain and annoyance yuji had followed her demand with.
you shrugged and complied, exchanging yours for hers with pursed lips.
as you scanned nobara's timetable, you found yourself pouting less, pleased. half of your classes aligned perfectly with hers, from pre-calc to english — even p.e and homeroom, matched. the thought of surviving junior year alongside nobara was a hopeful silver lining. leaving megumi behind wouldn't be too bad, you noted in your had, glancing at his unnecessary scowl.
maybe this was done for a reason. if you spent too much time with him, the grumpy attitude would probably become contagious and you'd be the unfortunate one to catch it.
you watched him glare at nothing.
yeah, you definitely didn't want to become that.
"but we all have gojo at some point, right?" said nobara, her voice drawing your mind away from the undiagnosed disease your mind had planted megumi with.
you lined each of your timetables at the centre of the white, circular table, flicking yuji's head away to create more room for it. he lifted himself back up, scowling when you flicked at his hands next.
"we're all in different classes with him," you commented idly, tilting yuji's timetable a little further to read it more accurately.
"oh, you and i have physics with him together," you informed him, content and satisfied.
"hmph," yuji grunted, rubbing his forehead and throwing dirty looks at nobara from the side. despite this, however, you could see the way his ears had straightened up at your comment, also seemingly pleased with the shared class — it reminded you off the ash-blonde puppy you had seen last year, when you were looking for totalityfor megumi's birthday.
"i wanted ieiri," said megumi, taking his timetable back and glancing down at it, then to yuji's, and back again, seemingly making a comparison in his head.
"we all have her for chem," said nobara, leaning the upper half of her body over the table to glance over his sheet. "don't you?"
"yeah," he confirmed, sounding displeased. "and satoru for every other science. ap bio first period — no one needs to hear his voice that early in the morning."
yuji beamed, taking his paper away from the line of your timetables you'd created with it and shoving it down towards megumi's side of the table.
"don't worry megumi!" he'd said, his pearly white teeth showcased as he grinned. "we have ap biology together!"
megumi's eyes slowly shifted from yuji's overly enthusiastic face to his timetable, and then back again, completely unamused. his expression didn't change, and no words were exchanged as he remained deadpanned, yuji patiently awaiting his response; the excited sparkle in his eye dimming as each second went by in silence.
megumi blinked twice, offering a dry, "great. just what i needed."
yuji took that personally.
"hey —"
"gojo might be incredibly annoying," said nobara, cutting through yuji without a care in the world; she was frowning down at her own timetable, brows furrowed, "but i've never failed a class of his. ever." she looked up at you all with a grim expression over her face. "don't tell him i said that."
"you've got a point," you added thoughtfully. "you think he pulled a couple strings to have us in his classes this year?"
"oh for sure," said nobara, her response quick and short. "we have — what — over twenty different science teachers in the whole school and somehow every year without fail we're in his classes? tell me that's a coincidence."
as your friends discussed the things that satoru must have done in order to have each and every one of you in his classes this year, you stared down at your timetable, eyes glued down as something suddenly hit you in your mind.
you were now going to be lonely in performing arts due to the fact that nobara had switched majors. her electives were now filled with fashion design courses, her dream ever since the end of sophomore year, and you were glad she had finally come to pick something she found genuine joy in, but it still stung a little.
you sighed, almost feeling silly for missing something so trivial, but the thought of no longer having those shared moments with her in drama class left a hollow ache. it wasn't as if she hadn't told you this would happen during your vacation in the summer, yet the reality was harder to digest than you had initially anticipated.
"fashion design," you stated, as yuji and megumi found themselves immersed in a pointless argument about satoru and his questionable teaching methods. "i think mai was saying something about that the other day."
"yeah," said nobara, her voice suddenly gloomy as she deflated in her seat, eyes half-lidded and lips in a pout. "there's a workshop in the first class. the seniors are helping us."
a small, amused smirk tugged at the corner of your lips as she sulked in her seat. her exaggerated pout and half-lidded eyes made it impossible not to find the whole situation a bit funny. you rested your chin on your hand, observing the way she dragged her finger absentmindedly across the table's surface, a clear sign of how unenthusiastic she was about the whole thing.
nobara's disdain for her was no secret — mai, with her sharp tongue and competitive attitude, grated on nobara's nerves like nails on a chalkboard. they'd crossed paths during seventh grade, and from that point on, nobara had made it clear she had no interest in mai's condescending remarks or constant need to outshine everyone, especially in the fashion design world. it didn't help that they were often compared to each other when shopping, fuelling the unspoken rivalry between them.
"y'know, she's not that bad," you commented thoughtfully. you had also grown to like mai a bit better throughout the years.
megumi thought it was appropriate to intervene and add his own unwanted input (during the middle of his stupid back and forth with yuji, too).
"you're only saying that 'cause she's your blackmail partner," he'd said, furrowing his brows at you with a look of obvious impatience.
you did not even turn your head to face him when you responded.
"it's not blackmail," you countered slowly, as nobara raised her brows at you expectantly. "it's... making someone do something... by using... pieces of information... as... leverage!"
"that's literally the definition of blackmail —"
"shut up," you smiled politely.
"megumi!" yuji interrupted, shoving his phone in megumi's face with such enthusiasm, you would have thought he just found out that he was the chosen one at camp rock. "look!" he shook his phone aggressively. "brazil likes tan lines! no you have to look, megumi! it says they associate it with beach culture!"
megumi grimaced at the screen, his nostrils flaring as he slapped yuji's hand away.
"yeah, 'cause nothing says 'beach culture' like looking like a poorly toasted sandwich," he retorted, scowling when someone on the other table had shot him a sharp look.
you laughed, met with the sight of yuji in a defensive stance, eyes wide and brows furrowed at the dark haired boy sitting next to you. he was pointing at himself, at the two shades of skin on his neck, his fist clenched which only emphasised the veins running up his hand.
"you keep saying that like i didn't wear sunscreen, but i did!" he snapped, drawing the attention of the people passing by your table. megumi pinched the bridge of his nose as yuji went on, uncaring of the fact that almost every eye in the cafeteria was drawn to the four of you, courtesy of yuji and his unnecessarily loud speech. "i wore the kids one, but it's still sunscreen!"
"what brand?" asked nobara.
"nivea!"
"didn't they run tests for that one and find that it's actually a leading cause for skin cancer in its consumers?" you said, watching his face comically pale as he glanced down at his own hands, a lot darker than what they used to be like before the trip to italy.
yuji's brows knitted together, and the corner of his mouth twitched as if struggling to maintain composure, but the fear creeping into his wide eyes betrayed him. you could see the panic in the way he darted glances between his hands, his arms, and even under the table where his legs were, as though expecting to see something awful already happening.
nobara had taken the opportunity to scare him a little further, making up random statistics about non-existent kids who had reached critical condition due to the sheer amount of the product they'd used, and as she continued, his expression grew more strained, the color slowly draining from his cheeks, leaving him looking almost as pale as the white cast left behind the sunscreen he'd used.
your phone vibrated on the table, the screen lighting up with a text notification. you pressed the button to read it properly.
coffee-hose victim: Check if final pay-check was received
mandy.
you'd check later. you were in no rush, you decided, as you stared at the message briefly, feeling a dull sense of finality wash over you.
both you and megumi had been made redundant after the café shut down over the summer — an abrupt closure that neither of you had seen coming. mandy, your old manager, had been sorting out the final payments for the staff, promising to get things wrapped up even after the little shop was cleared out. now that everything was nearly done, you'd finally be able to delete her number from your phone, erasing the last trace of that chaotic job, of her.
but it also meant finding new jobs, and you refused to work without megumi by your side.
"we need to apply for jobs this week," you told him, showing him your home-screen that had mandy's notification banner at the very top. his eyes followed each word smoothly before looking back up to meet your gaze. "probably not hospitality ever again."
"i'd work at miss B's if she ever let us," said megumi, as you placed your phone back down and silently nodded in agreement. "i like her."
"mind saying that again?" you grinned, lifting it back up and having it hover near his mouth that had been set in a straight line the second he saw your lip curl. "i want to make it my ringtone."
"shut up," he snapped, slapping your wrist away quite like he had done with yuji not even five minutes ago. you laughed but complied anyway. having megumi's voice as a ringtone would make it so that you would never actually pick up the calls. he frowned at you. "come over to mine and we'll apply then."
you threw him a sideways look. "no, you come over to mine."
he furrowed his brows at you.
"what difference does it make?" he asked, his eyes critiquing your every move. nothing out of the ordinary.
you sighed loudly; someone might have assumed you were in the middle of a chore.
"if i see toji, i'm going to be tempted to make fun of him. i'll get distracted," you explained, shaking your head at your friend as though it had been the most easiest thing, and he had failed to understand. "top of the class and yet you're not the exactly the brightest crayon in the box, are you?"
"shut up," he repeated for the second time in the very same minute.
nobara turned her head slowly, deliberately, her sharp eyes narrowing as they landed on megumi. there was a brief, almost theatrical pause before her lips curled slightly at the corners, (the way they did when she was about to say something cutting) as the dim light of the cafeteria above you all caught the sharp angle of her cheekbones.
"megumi, i can not argue with idiot number one," she began, lifting her chin to gesture at a pale yuji, "when you, idiot number two, keep telling someone to shut up. how about you shut up for a change, huh?"
megumi narrowed his eyes at her. "i'm the only one out of the four of us that only speaks when spoken to."
she gawked at him. "you calling us chatterboxes?"
"i'm saying that when either of your mouths open, the stuff that comes out of it is never relevant nor necessary."
the three of you sat in silence, each watching him with different expressions on your faces.
and megumi felt the need to clarify:
"none of your statements are of any substance —"
"we get it!" snapped nobara, her gaze cutting and sharp. she took enough care to kick him beneath the table, which only began the onslaught of physical attacks, one you joined in for the sole purpose of bullying megumi. you thought he deserved it this time.
as the assault continued, something clicked, and you pulled back from the friendly fire. watching megumi's face — strained and faintly exasperated — you remembered something nobara had mentioned weeks ago about the family's international dojo business, which was the zenin's main source of income and how they were so incredibly rich.
it was easy to forget sometimes; the quiet, slightly reserved megumi you knew now didn't quite fit the image of someone being groomed to run an international dojo and martial arts empire, but as he braced himself for nobara's next jab, you couldn't shake the thought: he was taking business classes, which only further supported your idea, and for a moment, you considered the irony of seeing him here, bickering with you all instead of learning the ropes of the large business awaiting him.
"hey," you said, tapping his shoulder and flinching when he turned to look down at you so suddenly.
"what?" he snapped, but only after swiping nobara's timetable off the table and onto the floor when she kicked him on his funny-bone. he was blinking hard at you, as though trying to clear his vision of the black spots contaminating his sight.
"oh excuse me for wanting to help mr dominant-alpha-wolf out," you shot back, hands raised mockingly. when he scowled at you and patiently (yet reluctantly) waited for you to continue, you went on. "talking about applying for jobs, why don't you just get some business experience at ten shadows?"
the zenin clan's dojo, ten shadows, specialised in jujutsu — a tradition they shared with the gojo's and, of course, the kamo clan too. it was where uncle ogi spent most of his time in, and where toji spent none of his time in.
megumi didn't seem to like that idea, regarding you with furrowed brows and a scrunched nose.
"so i can spend all day with uncle ogi?" he retorted, and despite your initial idea still standing tall in your mind, you had to silently admit to yourself that he raised a good point. uncle ogi was funny when he was angry (which tended to be ninety-nine percent of the time) but you could only take so much of that in one day. knowing him, he'd probably force you to work nightshifts with no breaks. "no thanks," megumi voiced, unimpressed with the suggestion.
"why don't you just lie on your application forms and stuff?" yuji suggested, his mouth in a straight line. it seemed that he had not got over the sunscreen scare just yet. "i did."
"you lied about working at ten shadows?" you asked, brows raised and eyes wide. "that's an international dojo. they go world-wide. global. your employers will find out."
yuji shook his head, raising his hand to wave it at you dismissively. "no, not there," he scoffed, smiling widely. "what do you think i am, huh? stupid?"
no one said anything; he sat up defensively.
"hey —"
"so what place did you lie about then?" nobara cut through him, literally pulling him out of his stance by his elbow.
he shrugged her off with a scowl, but answered nonetheless.
"gojo said i could say i worked at his family's pharmacy."
everyone around the table went still, eyes widening as they processed what yuji had just casually revealed. megumi blinked, caught off guard, while you tilted your head, brows raised at his unexpected response. it was only nobara, however, who looked thoroughly impressed, her lips curling as she nudged him with a newfound admiration and yuji, oblivious to the stir he'd just caused, seemed to enjoy the brief, astonished silence hanging over the table.
"it's cool, right?" he voiced loudly, grinning. "he said i should write that i worked at one of his biotechnology firms, but if the interviewer asked me questions about it, i'd never know how to answer 'em."
megumi shot him a look.
"what do you know about pharmacies?" he demanded, watching yuji shrug confidently.
"you gotta answer some calls, make requests. er... stock up on the medicine and stuff," he mumbled, rubbing his chin thoughtfully and nodding. it looked like he was actually thinking hard about it. "deal with old ladies... and old men... er... yeah!"
"i'm putting that on my application too, then," said nobara, nodding. she made eye contact with a stoic megumi. "and you should too. only, with your family's business."
"no," the dark-haired boy responded, glowering at the three of you. "it's not genuine."
"oh here we go again," you sighed, rolling your eyes.
it had been the same situation two years ago with his easy position on the football team, when yaga offered him a vacant spot without the requirement of turning up to try-outs. megumi truly believed that if the offer was given solely to him, it was disingenuous and unfair, therefore accepting what was rightfully presented would also be disingenuous and unfair.
lying on an application form with security knowing that his family would definitely vouch for him if asked was where he drew the line.
"i'm not the serial liar here," he reminded you all, purposefully meeting your gaze to prove his point; you could have murdered him right there.
"maybe not, but you are the porcupine-hedgehog-sea-urchin breed here though —"
"you'dknow all about sea urchins, mermai—"
he left school that day with a small bump on the side of his head and a lesson still unlearned: do not mention the mermaid incident of two-thousand and eleven.

the hallway stretched ahead, brightly lit by fluorescent lights overhead that reflected off pale, polished floors. blue lockers lined either side, their surfaces a mix of chipped paint and stickers left from previous years, giving a lived-in look to the corridor's otherwise sterile presentation.
as you and megumi walked past several groups of people — some leaning against lockers, others conversing on the floor — you nudged him on his side.
"where do you usually sit?" you asked him, turning a corner to enter the corridor with the descending stairs. the two of you walked down them with ease, careful not to trip over that one step at the very bottom that always managed to catch your undone laces and have you stack in front of everyone.
megumi lagged a step behind, and before you could question it, you felt a slight tug on your bag, shifting it side to side. as you neared his homeroom, the faint sound of your zipper sliding into place caught your attention — he'd just fastened it for you without a word.
when he came back to your side to match your pace, you grinned up at his scowling face.
"thank you, porcupine!" you said brightly.
he adjusted the strap of his schoolbag, simple and black, and grunted, his form of acknowledgement.
you nudged him again, this time with your hip. "you didn't answer my question."
he shot you a sharp look, as though warning you not to test his patience. it wasn't like you'd ever heeded the warning in all the years you'd known him for, and yet you were still living and breathing and walking, alive and well.
"shouldn't matter to you," he responded, but only when it had become clear that you were not going to budge on it. megumi continued to face ahead, watching his steps as he spoke. "we're not in the same class and you won't be allowed in."
"ah, but if my memory serves me correctly," you beamed, sliding in between several seniors who were blocking the hallway to get to his class, and he shadowed you, right by the back of your heels, "you said the exact same thing in kindergarten and then they changed my name in the register so i was in your class permanently."
"set my fate with that dumb decision."
"hey," you frowned, looking at him from over your shoulder and furrowing your brows, lips set in a straight line. "that's rude."
megumi didn't grace you with a response to that, only following in your footsteps as you managed to squeeze past the groups of people huddled in the middle of the narrow corridor.
"besides," you began, once the two of you were walking side-by-side again, "if that decision wasn't made, you'd have a boring life, porcupine."
as the two of you neared megumi's classroom, the energy of the hallway shifted — voices grew louder, students lingered in clumps near the door, waiting to slip in just before the bell rang. it did tend to annoy you when they'd stand in a huddle and make it difficult to walk properly, but you'd gotten used to it after the first couple of weeks starting high school for the first time.
the sharp lines of megumi's face settled into something halfway between annoyance and resignation, his brows pinched, and his jaw clenched slightly as though he were biting back a retort. he shot you a sidelong glance, and for a moment, a split second in time, his expression softened — if you didn't know him that well, you might have thought you imagined it — almost as if he were mulling over what you'd said before huffing quietly, that familiar scowl reappearing on his face as he straightened his posture, ready to brush you off as he always did.
"you don't believe me?" you questioned, amused.
"it'd be stupid of me to believe someone who has a criminal history of lying," he grumbled, eyes half-lidded as though the answer had been obvious enough for a five year old to guess. arguably, you thought the five year old version of him probably would have said the exact same line, word for word. he had been too grown to actually be a kid.
"lying is part of my major," you reminded him, brows raised. "that's why i'm always the lead in the plays."
megumi averted his gaze, grumpy. "my bad. i thought you threatened everyone for the role —"
"i'm not a delinquent like you," you told him, smiling, and when he made a move to pinch you on your side, you dramatically flattened yourself against the lockers."i'll yell for help!" you hurriedly warned him, eyes cautiously wide as you followed where his pale hand was left outstretched near you.
he narrowed his own at you, contemplating. you could see the cogs turning in his head, thinking, deciding. you helped him make his decision faster by parting your lips, a silent threat. wisely, he retracted his hand, walking to his classroom which was at the end of the corridor, not looking back to see if you would catch up to him.
you did, in fact, catch up to him, if only to prove your initial point:
"if you weren't friends with me, what would you keep yourself entertained with, huh?" you asked, slapping his bag. he threw you a dirty look despite the fact that the hit wasn't enough to even make him stumble. "your non-fiction books? oh, i know a great non-fiction joke for you!"
"leave me alone," said megumi, glowering. "isn't your class down there?"
he gestured to the other end of the corridor.
you ignored him.
"why can't you trust an atom?" you asked, and when he refused to answer, instead choosing to duck under miss zaid's oustretched arm to go inside his class, you answered anyway, halting by the door because she stepped in front of you. "because they make up everythi— oh hey miss zaid!"
the teacher in question took back her arm and folded it over her chest, leaning against the door frame to block your entrance. you looked around, over your shoulder and around the corridor, before looking back up at her and smiling.
"who are you standing guard for?" you asked brightly. "can i help?"
"you can," she nodded, jutting her chin in the direction of the end of the hall, her expression half amused and half firm. "by making your way to mrs jenkins's class."
you shook your head firmly.
"but mr gojo said i could stay here instead," you said, expression grave. satoru had said no such thing, but that didn't matter, not to you at least.
"okay," said miss zaid, letting out a long exhale through her nose. "and is mr gojo part of the student advisory?"
your eyes darted left and right, momentarily speechless.
"he owns the pharmacy down the block," you tried, smiling pleasantly.
"and what does that have to do with the school?"
"erm... the first aid stuff in the school —"
the more you blabbered, the more unconvinced she became. you raised your brows at her, stern and serious.
"but my timetable's changed," you informed her, watching as the crease between her brows began to deepen as you spoke. "yeah, it says i'm in this class now."
miss zaid stepped aside to let two other students through. you took the opportunity to try and follow in right after them, only to be stopped when she rapidly stood back in that defensive position again. you frowned — what were you, a danger to the class?
"does it say my name on your timetable?" she asked you, curious.
you nodded.
she extended her hand, making a come hither motion.
"show me your timetable," she'd said, and at that, you froze.
it had been a lie after all. you were hoping to gain entry without the necessary proof. it had, after all, worked last year.
you watched her brows unknit themselves, tilting her head at you expectantly.
you paused.
"miss i really like the colour of your hijab today —"
"go," she interrupted loudly, pointing at the room you were meant to be in, all the way on the other side of the country, "to class, y/n." she looked up and nodded. "hi, yuji — come inside."
you turned and looked over your shoulder. sure enough, yuji was right there, walking alongside junpei, a tall, skinny boy who you had met during middle school in one of yuji's classes. the two were close, and when neither you, megumi nor nobara wanted to watch the weird movies yuji was always invested in, junpei had always been his go-to.
junpei was also in your homeroom class with nobara.
"what're you doing here?" yuji asked you, nodding at junpei when he walked off in the direction you were meant to be going in.
"what am i—" you repeated with a scoff, looking around as though that had been the stupidest question ever asked. "this is my class!"
miss zaid sighed. "y/n," she uttered your name sternly.
"miss, i can knock her out and then carry her to her actual class," yuji offered seriously.
you turned slowly, fixing yuji with a look that could curdle milk, disgust etched across your face, brows pinched and lip curled as though you'd just been asked to eat a pile of socks.
without missing a beat, yuji assumed a playful but overly dramatic fighting stance, feet squared and fists up like he was in some action movie. he bounced lightly, eyes narrowing in mock seriousness as he sized you up. perhaps it would've been almost intimidating if he hadn't grinned halfway through, flashing his teeth in a way that revealed he was completely unserious, and only had you staring at him with that unmoving disgusted expression.
"i appreciate your efforts yuji, but that... won't be necessary," miss zaid added, stepping aside to let him go inside.
"you have a bunch of weirdos in your class," you told her, scowling at the top of his pink head as he ducked under her arm and waved enthusiastically at megumi, who was slouching in his seat at the back of the classroom. "that's why i'm not in it."
and before she could order you to leave again, you stood on your tiptoes and waved at your grumpy friend, blowing kisses and beaming at him.
"bye megumi elizabeth fushiguro!" you yelled, smiling from ear to ear, and bouncing on your toes excitedly. "i'll miss you megumi elizabeth! bye megumi! i love you megumi! i'll miss you megu—"
"all right, i think he heard you," miss zaid nodded, looking over her shoulder to be met with the sight of the dark-haired boy facing the board with such seriousness, it appeared as though the class had already started and he was listening attentively to the non-existent teacher. his eyes would dart back to meet yours, and each time they did, his gaze would harden and his scowl would deepen.
"did i tell you how much i'll miss you, megumi?" you added loudly.
"y/n, don't make me write you up and give you a detention," said miss zaid, watching as you waved a hand at her and walked off.
"all right, all right, i'm going," you grumbled, turning on your heel and strolling down the hallway.
as you moved farther away, miss zaid's voice echoed faintly behind you, catching you off guard as she questioned whether megumi's middle name was actually elizabeth, her tone somewhere between bemusement and scepticism.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
the boys' locker room was a space with rows of navy-blue metal lockers, their surfaces chipped and dented from years of use. megumi unlocked his and shoved his school pants inside, the overhead fluorescent lights casting a sharp, sterile glow over the room, bright enough to reflect off the scuffed tiled floor where several of his teammates were sitting, tying their shoelaces. other members of his team, including yuta, yuji, and toge, sat on the wooden benches that ran parallel to the lockers, worn and slightly uneven in places, each spot marked by countless cleats and gear bags left by players.
chad had been complaining about the faint smell of old sweat and disinfectant that clung to the air, mingling with the metallic scent of the lockers, and despite megumi not conversing with the rest, he silently agreed.
where the few hooks were attached along the walls (each draped with stray jerseys, hoodies, and extra uniforms) megumi glanced down at his own, a slight frown tugging at the corners of his lips. he would need to get a new one — he had outgrown the one he'd just got over the summer.
he didn't know whether he should be pleased or annoyed: perhaps both.
"yaga's gonna murder you if you don't have that game plan ready for today, todo," one of the guys — oliver martin, megumi realised — had said.
todo had been quick to retort:
"this was way more important!"
in the back corner where todo stood tall, a whiteboard was propped up with play diagrams still faintly visible from last practice, but the deep lining of blue marker that formed a surprisingly accurate drawing of nobuko takada (a japanese pop idol who todo had mentioned several times that he'd die for) took up the rest of the board.
he kicked a couple of duffel bags that slouched nearby, stuffed with tangled shin guards, socks, and forgotten water bottles, before speaking in that excessively loud voice of his.
"if any of you, except for my brother yuji, can give me your type of woman that's valid," he began, only warranting several groans and protests from every member in the room, "i'll come up with a game plan so you don't have to!"
kamo, who had been minding his own business up until now, slammed his locker door shut and stared up at the demanding team captain, eyes half-lidded.
"you did this last time and then tried to attack chad," he reminded him, and chad, who had been sitting on the bench slouched over, sat up and shook his head, disappointed.
"yeah, dude," he spoke breathily, visibly upset, "and that wasn't cool."
"YOUR TYPE ISN'T COOL —"
"relax," said kamo, which prompted everyone else to follow and agree.
todo's gaze snapped towards kamo, lingering a beat too long, his eyes narrowing in an expression that balanced somewhere between irritation and threat, his jaw clenching as he sized him up, lips pressing into a thin line, as though silently daring him to say more.
"what's your type then?" demanded todo, pointing at an unfazed kamo who simply raised a brow and turned away, seemingly uninterested in participating in this game todo enjoyed so much. "HEY! I'M TALKING TO YOU!"
kamo stared at him again, deadpanned. "sorry, didn't notice."
"every single one of us have said our type except for you, man," andre johnson added, momentarily shirtless just to speak before pulling his head through his blue jersey. "just say it."
"i actually wanna know what your type is," said yuji, interested. "i can't imagine you with anyone, kamo."
majority of the guys in the room collectively voiced their agreement. megumi silently agreed too — kamo never showed interest in anything other than his hobbies, like football. the hum of the vent overhead was steady as the low, animated chatter continued, todo waiting for an answer impatiently by the whiteboard.
"loner."
kamo placed one foot on the bench, bending down to tie his laces together. "liked you better when you were mute, toge," he said, though not unkindly.
"he likes a tall girl with a big ass, okay?" logan parker intervened, sighing audibly. "he told me, all right?"
kamo turned to logan, his expression deadpan, unimpressed by the sudden revelation. the lack of humour in his gaze spoke volumes, making it painfully obvious to megumi that kamo had never confided in logan about such a preference.
his straightforward nature, megumi had decided, left no room for such casual gossip, and it was hard to believe that he would ever engage in a conversation about his personal preferences with someone as prone to exaggeration as logan.
"is that true?" todo demanded almost immediately after logan had added his false input.
kamo tied his hair back, looking uncaring and tired. "no."
todo clenched his fists.
"your type can't be that bad," he said, looking around before his eyes landed on megumi, who was now sitting on the bench beside yuta, staring at nothing in particular. "bet it's not like fushiguro's — which is BORING,by the way!"
megumi looked up at the mention of his name and scowled.
everyone had immediately come to his defence, telling todo to 'cut it out' and to 'leave him alone', but it still didn't remove the absent sting he felt on the side of his head when todo had made an attempt to attack him (and had also been very nearly successful in doing so).
during freshman year of high school, when the football team had been formed and established, everyone was made to introduce themselves to each other, which was where the drama had begun. long story short: todo had asked for megumi's type in women, megumi answered unsatisfactorily ('i don't have a preference, so long as she's compassionate and has an unshakeable character') which resulted in a traumatic experience of attempted murder — as yuji had called it.
"todo, get over it!"
"yeah, dude, you literally pressured him for it!"
"it just wasn't cool, dude..."
"man, you a weirdo!"
"HIS TYPE IS BORING!" todo roared, throwing the marker he had in his hand somewhere behind himself. "NO IT'S STARTING TO PISS ME OFF! NO IT'S STARTING TO— I SHOULD —"
he rolled his sleeves up threateningly.
megumi furrowed his brows at him as everyone scrambled to stop the team captain from making a decision that would get him suspended from the school entirely.
"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH —"
"— TODO MAN —"
"— BRO CHILL —"
"— CALM DOWN —"
"stop, you're gonna make megumi sad!" yuji added fiercely, before extending an arm past both toge and yuta to grab his arm. todo had turned away, chest heaving and shoulders shaking as logan and chad patted his back as though trying to silence a wailing baby. "are you okay, megumi?"
the exaggerated, pouting look on yuji's face made megumi want to punch him.
"i'm fine," he grumbled, shrugging yuji's hand off of him, but yuji had remained persistent, forcefully gluing his palm on his front and deepening his look of pity. megumi glared down at his pesky hand.
"it's okay megumi," yuji sorrowfully informed him.
"i said i'm —"
"you don't have to be sad, megumi —"
megumi took his hand and twisted it; yuji yelped and snatched his hand back, frowning as he threw his grumpy friend a pained look.
"little harsh," yuta commented, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish smile.
megumi averted his gaze, half annoyed. "he deserved it."
when toge let out a small chuckle, megumi looked up at the scene before him, half-listening to todo's persistent questioning (he seemed to have got over megumi and his type), the chatter weaving through the room in an easy manner, almost as though megumi hadn't just been targeted for no apparent reason at all two seconds ago. his gaze drifted over to kamo, who, as usual, remained largely unfazed, his expression somewhere between calm and indifferent as todo's relentless interrogation continued.
watching them, megumi's mind wandered slightly — his teammates' voices ebbed and flowed, equal parts curiosity and exasperation filling the space. it was only towards the end of the conversation did megumi actually find something he believed he had mild interest in...
"what's it called when someone doesn't like anyone?" saidoliver, holding his helmet against his side, beneath his arm. "like, when a person just doesn't feel anything?"
"depression," megumi answered bluntly.
every head in the room turned to look at his, some were laughing and some looked unsurprised.
oliver furrowed his brows, disappointed. "dude."
"stop projecting, man."
"bro, you good?"
megumi ignored them, mentally cursing himself for participating in the stupid conversation to begin with. he silently reminded himself to never do so again. perhaps he would note it down somewhere when he got home.
"nah, i meant when like — y'know a guy or a girl — like when they've never liked someone. or had a crush," oliver continued, turning to kamo with a shrug. "maybe you're that. whatever the hell it's called."
"not good enough," todo shook his head, arms folded over his chest in another obvious attempt to look intimidating. "if all you PATHETIC excuses for men, EXCEPT MY BROTHER YUJI, won't give me a valid type right NOW —"
"i like someone," said kamo, pinching the bridge of his nose with an obvious scowl.
everyone froze, looking up at him as though the mere idea of kamo showing interest in anyone was foreign. megumi believed they all had a right to act shocked, not that it was any of their business to begin with.
because it wasn't.
and yet, even to him, it was surprising.
a few of the guys exchanged wide-eyed glances, eyebrows raised, and mouths slightly open, the disbelief clear in their expressions. even todo, typically unshakeable in his boldness, seemed momentarily thrown off balance, his stance faltering as he processed the unexpected confession. a hush seemed to settle over the group of boys, broken only by the quiet sound of kamo's gear as he slung it over his shoulder and moved towards the exit, leaving a wave of curiosity and shock in his wake.
"c'mon man, you can't just say something like that and then leave!" andre said, hurriedly collecting his own gear to follow the stoic boy out of the locker room.
"it's mai, isn't it?" said ethan miller, slamming his locker door shut and staring at the back of kamo's head.
yuji looked at megumi and then back up at ethan. "mai zenin?"
"there's only one mai in the entire school," said ethan, nodding. he called out to kamo again. "i saw you and her speaking like a week ago or somethin'."
kamo turned around, his back to the door as he furrowed his brows, seemingly offended by the accusation.
"no it's not —" he began, letting out a sigh of exhaustion before rolling his eyes. "it's not mai."
"give us SOMETHING, then, and i'll take it!" todo demanded, slamming his hand on the whiteboard with takada on it. uncoincidentally, it landed on her behind.
kamo considered the proposal for a moment, his eyes glancing over every face in the room, nearly all of whom seemed relieved at todo's statement, before he sighed again, muttering something under his breath.
"you know her pretty well," he said, glancing at yuji and then megumi. they barely had the time to register his response before he turned away, pulling open the door to leave. "and that's all you're getting out of me," he added calmly. "so don't bother trying for more."
he left without another word.
the entire room shifted their attention to megumi and yuji, eyes darting between the two as if expecting one of them to unravel kamo's cryptic hint. a few of the guys raised their eyebrows, curiosity and intrigue plastered across their faces. logan nudged chad with a knowing grin, while toge and yuta exchanged speculative glances.
megumi could feel their gazes like a weight, pressing him to acknowledge that he, along with yuji, might know the answer everyone was dying to hear.
he turned his head to face his friend: yuji simply blinked, apparently still wrapping his head around kamo's words. but megumi believed yuji had a better shot at guessing who the mystery girl was. yuji was, after all, a million times more social than him.
as the silence lingered, megumi found himself lost in thought, trying to recall any recent interaction that could hint at kamo's mystery interest. he sifted through memories, wondering if there had been any subtle clues he'd missed — any glances, moments, or lingering exchanges that might narrow it down. kamo's calm, almost detached nature made it hard to picture him in the throes of a crush, but megumi couldn't shake the curiosity that now gnawed at him.
he only knew two girls 'pretty well', and that was you and nobara, but he could not imagine either of you hanging off of kamo's arm. in fact, if anything, he imagined kamo hanging off of nobara's arm (which didn't make sense, seeing as that would be out of character of him). similarly, megumi couldn't imagine you willingly being held back by his arm, instead choosing to skip off into the distance which would surely annoy the serious, long-haired male.
but he was well aware of the fact that nobara and kamo had shared several classes together...
he could still feel everyone's gazes burning holes all over his face, and he scowled, unwilling to give anyone the satisfaction of entertaining the idea too openly.
but it seemed that the team captain did not happen to agree with this sentiment.
"right, new task!" todo called out, clapping his hands to draw everyone's attention away from an unwilling megumi and a confused yuji to himself instead. he had already rubbed out the takada drawing and had begun the game planning. megumi had not realised it until now. "FIND KAMO'S GIRL! and this time next week, we'll gather 'round and narrow it down!"
as everyone nodded and cheered, some making their way out of the room while others lingered and chatted, he called out to both yuji and megumi.
"BROTHER!" he bellowed, pointing at him with the blue marker. "i'm leaving it to you and fushiguro!"
a pause.
"mainly you because i don't trust fushiguro!"
yuji and megumi had already stood up by that point, and megumi's scowl had deepened. it wasn't as though he cared enough to be part of this operation anyway. it was something he'd most likely think about alone, where no one could put in their unintelligent claims and disrupt his wise way of thinking. what did todo know about that anyway?
he looks like a pineapple, megumi thought to himself as he watched him demand both himelf and yuji to deal with the stupid task. and he's about as smart as one too.
"UNDERSTAND?"
"yeah!"
"sure," megumi answered, but he hadn't been paying attention at all.
todo had left the changing room, followed by majority of the team. yuji was the only one left in the room with him.
"i think it's nobara," he said, placing his helmet on his head. "she's extra mean to him 'cause he acts like he knows everything. she hates guys like that."
"that... contradicts your point," said megumi, furrowing his brows.
"no, don't you know that girls act really mean to the guys they like?" yuji chuckled, shaking his head at him as if megumi had very little knowledge. it made the dark-haired boy want to attack his friend. "hey... maybe that's why all the girls on the cheer team are so mean to me! yeah!"
megumi did not remind him of the time yuji had accidentally flashed the cheer team, and that from then on, every member, including the substitutes, would be extra harsh towards him.
"yeah," he said, putting his own helmet on and following yuji out of the room. "that's the reason."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
exiting the theatre classroom, you caught sight of megumi waiting on one of the benches outside, still dressed in his football uniform, his untamed hair still findings ways to stand up on its own despite the fact that it must have been forced down during practice. you almost laughed out loud at the broad shoulder pads and the snug navy-blue jersey that made him look slightly out of place in the hallway, but it was the way his helmet balanced awkwardly on his lap as he stared down at it, clearly impatient, that had you grinning.
you couldn't help but laugh, your voice echoing lightly off the walls as you made your way towards him, amused by how tense he looked even off the field. he looked up at the sound, his eyes narrowing in mild annoyance as he rose to meet you, a faint crease forming between his brows.
"you look angry," you commented teasingly.
"shut up," he muttered, scowling as he lifted the helmet and carefully placed it over your head. it wobbled slightly, oversized and unsteady, making you nearly lose your balance when he gave it a firm pat on top — a solid thump, just hard enough to send a warning, though not enough to hurt.
"it's so uncomfortable," you said, as the two of you made your way to the school gates to leave. "how the hell do you football players wear this for hours on end?"
"with breaks," he answered, and you had to physically move your head upwards to actually be able to see his face, for the lines going over and under the front gap limited the scope of your vision. "you get used to it."
you hummed in response, looking over your shoulder and around the area with curiosity.
"where's yuji?" you asked casually.
"ran for his bus," said megumi, as the two of you had gone past the gates and onto the main road leading to your neighbourhood. "said he didn't wanna take the late one 'cause then he'd have to sit for most of it with todo."
"should've made him late so he'd have to take the late one," you tutted, nearly walking into a lamppost — it was megumi's quick actions that had saved you, tugging you away by your elbow.
"the hell's wrong with you?" he demanded harshly. "your vision isn't completely gone with that on. you're not blind."
"it takes a while to get used to!" you protested, rubbing the top of his helmet as though it were your own scalp. "you said so yourself!"
megumi's expression hardened, his brow furrowing as he shot you a look that seemed to question every life choice that led you to nearly walking into a lamppost. he didn't need to say a word; the look alone was enough to convey his frustration, his mouth set in a thin line as he continued to stare at you with a sort of weary patience that he seemed to reserve just for moments like this.
"stop acting drunk," he ordered, walking a step behind you now. it was as if he assumed that watching over you would prevent your free will from prevailing over his demands.
at some point during the walk home, the conversation had shifted from the limited vision with the helmet, to gossip you had heard during stage practice, to toji and the unethical ways he kept a steady income, to what his teammates were saying in the locker room earlier, something you found yourself quite fascinated with.
"i'd hate to be you, not gonna lie... but what would you have done if todo did attack you?" you asked him, drumming your fingers on the helmet which you still hadn't taken off despite how uncomfortable it felt wearing it. you turned your head (fully) to look at your own reflection in a car mirror by the crosswalk.
you thought you looked ridiculous.
you didn't care.
megumi placed a hand on the centre of his helmet and forced your head to face the front again.
"this is how you end up walking into lampposts," he lectured with a scowl, before placing his hand in the pocket of his shorts and answering your question. "i would've defended myself."
"against todo?" you gaped, stupefied. "no offence, but he'd crush you. he's — like — your dad of our generation."
"don't ever say that again," megumi had been quick to counter, and though you couldn't see it, you knew he was glaring down at you. despite the thick material of the helmet you were wearing, you felt the heat of his gaze, like lasers burning holes where they landed.
he did not like that comparison at all.
you apologised. "sorry. you're the only copy of your dad there is —"
"watch it."
"am i just not allowed to say anything then?" you snapped, your arms flailing about dramatically.
"it's a preference," megumi began, the tone of his voice sly in a way you were very much familiar with and did not like at all, "but i know you won't do it."
you raised a pointer finger defensively. "megumi, if i could see you right now —"
"— it's not that hard —"
"— and if i was as tall as you," you continued as though he hadn't interrupted, "i would head-butt you so bad, you'd wish todo was the one dealing with you."
as the two of you stepped up to the crosswalk, megumi reached out and firmly took hold of your hand, steering you with a purposeful grip so you'd follow his lead across the road. his hold was steady, guiding, yet the pointed glare he cast downwards made it clear he wasn't thrilled with the direction the conversation had taken. even as he glanced from you to the road ahead, his gaze lingered, sharp with irritation, and each time he looked back, it was as if he had been silently reminding you of the absurdity of comparing him to todo — or worse, his dad.
his hand stayed firmly around yours until you were safely on the other side of the street. he let go, only to hit you on the helmet again.
"ow!"
"shut up, that didn't hurt."
you ignored him.
"what happened next?" you queried as you tugged on his jersey and pointed at buttercup brew where miss B was waving at the two of you from behind the glass, entry doors.
you waved back, making sure megumi had too — he was much less enthusiastic, but it was still enough to please miss B, who went back to working, leaving the two of you to continue the short walk home.
megumi answered idly. "kamo said he likes someone."
your eyes widened, and if it hadn't been for his outstretched arm once again, you would have tripped over your own foot.
"WHAT?"
"for fu— be careful —"
"noritoshi kamo?" you gasped, walking alongside megumi in visible and audible shock.
the best way to describe noritoshi kamo, you decided, was a guy who had no care in the world for anything: he lost a shoe? he'd buy a new one. you lost his homework sheet you'd been copying from? he'd quickly make a new one. he lost a football game? the next one would be better.
noritoshi kamo was no optimist, but he was definitely not someone capable of romantic feelings for anyone.
or so you had thought...
"everyone just started guessing who," megumi added, frowning.
"and did they guess right?" you pressed, intrigued. "who is it?"
your dark-haired friend shrugged, which resulted in your shoulders deflating, immediately disappointed before he'd even said anything.
"that's the thing," megumi said, unbothered. "he didn't say anything about it."
"well that was anti-climactic," you mumbled, turning a corner and seeing both your houses in the distance.
the walk was nearly over, so you lifted the helmet off your head, shook your hair away from your face, and held it beneath your arm. you appreciated just how large your field of vision was now. the helmet had been pesky, hot, and annoying.
"and i'm out of gossip," you sighed, allowing the summer breeze to flow past your face, the air feeling nice against your skin. "wish nobara was here. she always has something to talk about."
"he said something in the end though. when todo forced him."
you were surprised your head hadn't popped right off your neck with how fast you'd turned it to look up and lock eyes with him. megumi needed to work on how he told and relayed stories — this was by far the worst one he'd ever done.
"well?" you prompted, stressed that the walk was shortening the closer you got to your houses.
"yuji and i know her pretty well," said megumi at last, brows furrowed as you handed him his helmet. when you raised a brow at him, visibly confused, he scowled. "his words, not mine."
the thought lingered, growing heavier as you replayed kamo's words in your mind: someone yuji and megumi know pretty well...
your brows knitted together as you tried to piece it together, replaying moments you'd seen kamo interact with people you that were close with both yuji and megumi. the issue here was that megumi's anti-social nature narrowed it down to two people:
you or nobara.
you knew with certainty it couldn't be you. you had had a fair few conversations with the male, but nothing that you could pick apart and decide that he had any interest in you. it was mostly just random, fun situations, like the time you had accidentally triggered malakai and requested kamo to support your statement that it hadn't been you, only to blame it on him (kamo) in the end.
that should make him dislike you, if anything. at the time, however, he didn't seem to care.
could nobara be the girl he liked?
that was something you'd have to ask her, though you highly doubted it. you knew her quite well, and no guy had caught her interest. at least, not at jujutsu high, where she mainly criticised the male gender and grew new icks every day that went by.
for the fun of it, you still asked megumi whether it could be possible that someone could have a crush on you.
his reaction, however, had you visibly startled.
he averted his gaze, his shoulders stiffening as though unsure of how to respond. you waited, but his silence lingered, and his eyes seemed to dart briefly to the ground, almost as if he'd been caught off guard by your question.
your brows raised as you bit back a smile. it was rare to see him hesitate like this — normally, he'd offer some blunt response or scowl and move on, but now, an uncharacteristic awkwardness settled over him, and it looked almost as if he was bracing himself, unable to fully meet your gaze.
"no," he finally settled on saying, walking you to your door as he always would when going home together.
"you hesitated," you informed him knowingly.
"i was thinking of how long it'd take for you to scare them off," megumi shot back, ringing the doorbell for you.
you watched him walk off the porch, hearing footsteps echo from behind the front door as you hummed, nodding.
"nice save," you told him, relishing in his scowl, the last thing you saw on his face before your mom had opened the door and allowed you in, closing it behind you after telling megumi to come inside — he had refused like the delinquent porcupine he was.
and as megumi made his way over to his own porch, he realised that for the first time ever, he couldn't help the feeling of relief after ending a conversation with you.

bonus scene:
the helicopter incident of 2016...
"what the fuck?"
megumi staggered away from the three of you —yourself, yuji, and nobara — craning his neck in a desperate attempt to peer over his shoulder at his own backside. bewildered, he muttered to himself, trying to comprehend why his so-called friends had just collectively ambushed him, each having touched his bottom once before guffawing loudly. what had you all done to him?
he made his way to the back door (but not before throwing the three of you a menacing glare) using the reflection of the glass as a mirror.
he was left horrified at the sight of three different handprints made out of neon paint colours (bright yellow, vibrant pink, and an intense lime) on the most compromising part of his pants:
his ass.
"shit — look at his face," you gasped, chest heaving at his expression. "take a picture with — catch it! — my phone."
you tossed your phone to nobara, who, unlike you and yuji, had the least amount of paint coating her delicate hands. meanwhile megumi's had shot to cover his behind as he whipped around, fixing the three of you with a glare so fierce, it might have turned a lesser person to stone.
flash! flash! flash!
nobara had captured his expressions, postures, and stances before he had a chance to compose himself into something less revealing.
as you took your phone out of nobara's hands, your attention had been drawn to a growing commotion behind you, distant shouts and laughter cutting through the playful chaos around megumi. you tossed a quick, amused glance back at nobara and yuji, both of whom were doubled over in laughter, still entirely focused on your collective attack on megumi, before aiming the lens on your phone not at your porcupine's flustered face, but at the source of the noise in the distance, recording just in time to capture a particularly raucous burst of laughter that had echoed around the backyard.
toji, towering and muscular, stood with his arms flat against his sides, looking both impatient and exasperated as satoru (in front of him) and suguru (behind him) launched paint-filled balloons at him. each balloon splattered bright colours across his chest, only to be rebuffed by his broad, muscular torso in what seemed like a defiant bounce.
splashes of paint exploded across his 'man-tits,' as satoru had so eloquently called them, left bright patches on his shirt as he glared at the two childish men surrounding him, chest heaving and fists clenched.
"shit!"satoru took several steps back, looking down at his own chest where the balloon he'd thrown at toji had bounced back at himself instead, splattering his white shirt with bright blue. he looked up at suguru, eyes wide behind his glasses. "that one came from his right titty —"
suguru laughed, throwing a paint balloon up in the air, catching it, and then launching it at the oddly-silent toji.
only for it to bounce back, just as expected. he had stepped aside just in time. "and that one came from his left breast —"
the veins running up toji's hands and arms grew more prominent as the two continued.
"HA!" satoru pointed at his chest. "toji? more like titty —"
suguru shook his head with a sigh. "satoru, don't be childish," he said, and his best friend actually paused, brows raised in surprise. that was before suguru had clarified: "he's big titty toji —"
SPLAT!
when satoru swung his arm around in a dramatic manner while laughing, he had accidentally released another paint ballon straight at the ticking time bomb that was toji fushiguro.
he only laughed harder at that.
"look guys!" he called out to the rest of you. you zoomed in on the scene — satoru's arms were outstretched, presenting toji as if he was some special, endangered animal, rare and one-of-a-kind. "it's toji titty-guro—"
without warning, toji's arms shot out, his hands seizing both satoru and suguru by the collars of their shirts with effortless strength. you couldn't see his face, so you were unsure of whether he had been grinning, or neutral, or angry, etc, but you watched in both horror and amusement as he began to spin, dragging them with him in a rapid, dizzying circle.
every other commotion around the backyard had stopped, everyone turning to look at the odd scene, equal parts confused and terrified.
toji's feet dug into the ground, kicking up small clouds of dust, while satoru and suguru both flailed helplessly at his sides, their limbs whipping outwards as if they were rag dolls caught in a whirlwind.
a whirlwind...
"it's a tornado!" you yelled, looking around and trying hard to keep your phone steady, but the scene was so funny, your hands were shaking with the effort.
toji's powerful grip and force turned their attempts to wriggle free into nothing more than frantic gestures, their faces a mix of shock and a hint of terror as they were spun around faster and faster...
you zoomed out to capture mamaguro at the back, watching the scene with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows.
"are you gonna stop your... husband...?" you heard your mom question, sounding completely weirded out. and honestly — who could blame her?
what the hell was happening in the fushiguros' backyard?
"i... would," mamaguro muttered, carefully watching the scene continue to unfold before her, getting worse as time went on, "but... how?"
there was no opening for her to enter, you noticed. if she tried, she'd get caught up in the spinning andget severely injured too...
you couldn't believe what was happening before your eyes. you didn't know what was happening before your eyes. you didn't think you'd ever know what was happening before your eyes.
from your peripheral vision, you could see a stick of yellow just lingering awkwardly, and when you turned your head to glance at it, you nearly face palmed when you realised it was your father in his banana body-suit outfit. the only thing visible about him was the gap where his face rested. everything else, from his head, to his figure, to his shoulders, to his thighs, and to the majority of his legs, were all concealed by the thick material.
"that looks fun!" he commented brightly, a dopy smile over his face. he made an attempt to waddle over to the unnatural disaster. "i'm gonna join —"
"no, no," your mom was quick to hold him back by his banana-shaped body. she ushered him to the side, shaking her head violently. "no, honey, no. just... you're not going over there."
surprisingly, despite several minutes having gone by, the disaster was still going. in fact, everyone had believed it to be finished when toji had stopped (revealing the other dishevelled men stumbling over their own footsteps) only for the man to spin himself around only and charge at the duo again.
violently.
"round two!" you called out, startled. "round two or — or — er — round one point five since it never... it never finished, technically — oh my god —"
you focused your camera around the backyard, spotting mai climbing over the fence. her eyes met your phone, and she disappeared behind the wall without a second thought.
wise, you thought to yourself, wondering if mimiko and nanako had done the same, for despite several pans of the large area, your camera could not seem to find them.
a bellow erupted across the scene, stopping everything and everyone cold in their tracks. you turned, a jolt running down your spine at the sight of ogi and the sound of his voice thundering through the air — you fumbled to stop your recording in a panic, heart pounding.
a wave of silence blanketed the chaos.
toji froze mid-spin, his arms still outstretched, while satoru and suguru, dishevelled and breathless, stared up from the ground, shock and trauma wiping away their usual confidence. megumi, still clutching his rear, went pale, his expression stiffening as he shrank further into his hiding place. your dad, in his ridiculous banana costume, managed a sheepish, guilty smile, while mamaguro blinked, bewildered, glancing between her husband and the mess of people sprawled about. tsumiki giggled softly in the corner, the only one unfazed, her amusement uncontained. in the abrupt stillness, ogi's glare was sharp enough to cut through steel, as if daring anyone to make the next move.
"WHAT," he demanded, voice booming, "IS GOING ON HERE?"
there was only silence that followed his question as he slowly entered the backyard, paint and balloons all over the grass and fences, a mess.
"AN EVENT ORGANISED TO ENCOURAGE NORMALCY, AND THIS FAMILY CAN'T EVEN DO THAT!"
his eyes, cold and sharp, darted to megumi, whose back was flat against the fence.
"THE VERY PROGENY OF THE ZENIN CLAN — WITH RAINBOW HANDPRINTS ON HIS GODDAMN ASS!"
megumi's cheeks burned as he scowled. it didn't help that yuji and nobara were still holding back their laughter too.
"AND YOU!" ogi turned to a normal (now?) toji, looking him up and down with such disgust, you'd think he were staring at a homicide scene. it might have actually been one, to be fair. "I CANT EVEN SAY THAT YOU'RE PART OF MY BLOODLINE! WHAT WAS THIS, A RE-ENACTMENT OF KAMIKAZE?"
toji scoffed, throwing satoru a glare. "he was the pilot —"
satoru stood up almost immediately. "you were the helicopter —"
"SIT DOWN."
despite his obvious reluctance, satoru silently complied.
ogi took this as a sign to continue, glowering menacingly at the white-haired, dark-haired duo. now, literal partners in crime.
"WE GOT SPONGEBOB AND PATRICK OVER HERE, DOING GOD-KNOWS-WHAT. WHY IS YOUR HAIR A MESS AND WHY ARE YOUR GLASSES BROKEN?"
satoru reached up to take his glasses off, hanging in an odd, desperate position over the bridge of his nose, a pout on his face at the sight of the irreparable damage.
he glared at toji from over his shoulder. "HEY —"
"OI LEAVE HIM ALONE!" ogi was quick to add, irate. "IF YOU HADN'T BOTHERED HIM, MAYBE HE WOULDN'T HAVE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO ELIMINATE THE TWO OF YOU FROM EXISTENCE!"
he rubbed his hands over his wrinkled face, before starting at the two men again.
"NO, I'LL TELL YOU WHY THE BOTH OF YOU LOOK LIKE THIS, IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE BEHAVING LIKE MONKEYS — I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT GETO!" he added harshly, for suguru had an oddly deep hatred for the animal and whichever family it comes from, and had seemed particularly offended with ogi's comment. "I MEAN LOOK AT THE STATE OF YOU! YOU LOOK LIKE MAI'S FIRST GRADE ART PROJECT THAT I THREW IN THE TRASH —"
maki, who had been lingering at the back with your mom stepped forward despite your mom's silent actions not to.
"you threw that away?" she questioned, eyes narrowed behind her round, clear glasses. "she spent years attacking me for it —"
ogi's hardened expression had faltered slightly, a look of pain crossing his features. you were certain it was more about getting caught than the actual issue at hand.
"yeah, yeah, it was you that threw it," he mindlessly replied, before his jaw had clenched harder than before. "SPEAKING OF, WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR SISTER?"
maki sniffed, irritated. "i don't —"
"this has that luke kid written all over it," ogi interrupted, uncaring of maki. "GREAT! SO I'VE GOT A RUNAWAY BRIDE, AND TWEEDLE DEE AND TWEEDLE DUM ARE MISSING. PROBABLY AT THE ZOO ACTING LIKE THEIR FATHER — SHUT IT GETO."
he swivelled on the spot, his long hair whipping behind himself as his eyes zeroed in on your father, still in that banana costume of his.
"AND YOU — GET RID OF THAT RIDICULOUS COSTUME! THEY MIGHT WANNA EAT YOU NEXT — TRYNA JOIN THE HELICOPTER WITH HIS IDIOCY!"
your father frowned, but still made an attempt at trying to unzip himself. his arms, however, were much too short to go around the costume and reach the zipper.
"well it's kinda..." he murmured, bending his knees for a better angle, "stuck... i need some... help... here... honey?"
your mom turned away, drinking her lemonade with raised brows. "who's honey?"
uncle ogi had had enough. "G-GET BACK HERE AND TAKE HIS STUPID COSTUME OFF OF HIM!"
your mom turned back around, but her eyes were darting over the place as though ogi was speaking to anyone but her.
"IT'S YOUR CARELESS BEHAVIOUR THAT'S MADE HIM BELIEVE IT'S OKAY TO WEAR STUFF LIKE THAT. I'M GETTING A HEATSTROKE JUST LOOKING AT HIM!"
she glanced at her husband, watching him fall backwards due to his failed attempt at bending his knees to reach his own zipper.
she muttered under her breath: "you'd think that men would have a mind of their own..."
"YOU'RE NOT OFF THE HOOK EITHER TSUMIKI, I EXPECTED MORE FROM YOU. LAUGHING — ENCOURAGING THIS BEHAVIOUR?" he started, typically unusual, for tsumiki was never the one in trouble. today was full of surprises. he raised an accusatory pointer finger at her. "YOU WANNA BE A MOTHER SOMEDAY? YOU BETTER HOPE THEY DON'T TURN OUT LIKE THESE IDIOTS."
his eyes darted over you all in one massive circle, his mouth in a straight line.
"THIS FAMILY'S A DISGRACE TO THE ZENIN NAME —"
"not even a zenin," satoru grumbled to himself.
"yeah, neither am i," suguru agreed, blowing his bangs away from his face.
"i'm literally a l/n," you mumbled to yourself.
toji dusted himself off. "my son's not a zenin."
"THE POINT IS... YOU'VE SUMMONED THE WHOLE OF BIKINI BOTTOM TO RECORD US!" uncle ogi roared, pointing at the neighbours peeking over the fences with their phones at hand. you couldn't bring it in yourself to blame them. if you had seen the same scene happen elsewhere, you would have recorded it too.
you had recorded it, not that uncle ogi needed to know that...
"WHY ARE WE LETTING PEASANTS MAKE A LAUGHING STOCK OUT OF US?" he demanded loudly. he aggressively turned to mr smith, a white, bald man from just down the block. "OI YOU, GET RID OF THAT CAMERA BEFORE I GIVE YOU A REASON TO TAKE ME TO COURT!"
he turned to mamaguro, eyes widening at the sight of her.
"i nearly forgot about you..." he began, before taking everyone by surprise by the sheer volume of his voice, as though he hadn't been speaking that way for the past five minutes. "YOU WERE THE BRAINS BEHIND THIS ALL. WHAT MADE YOU THINK THAT THIS FAMILY COULD DO ANY EVENT WITHIN THE REALM OF HOW NORMAL OR MESSY IT SHOULD BE? THAT THEY WOULDN'T PUT THEIR STUPID TOES OUT OF LINE? THAT THEY'D BE SENSIBLE —"
"now hang on a minute," said mamaguro, her kind voice shaky, "this is not my fault! my colleague recommended a —"
"WHAT DOES YOUR COLLEAGUE KNOW ABOUT THIS FAMILY?" ogi snapped harshly. "NO BETTER THAN YOU, CLEARLY!"
he let out a deep exhale, but the tension in his temple and shoulders remained as he slowly turned around to face you. you were stunned in place, unmoving, unsmiling, unsure of what to do with yourself, in fact.
you only carefully made sure the camera was out of his sight, hidden in your back pocket where he'd have no clue that you had been recording earlier.
"AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE-TIME, THIS ONE WASN'T INVOLVED IN ANY OF IT!"
you nodded proudly, mimicking his words silently behind him, pointing at satoru, pointing at suguru, even pointing at your mom.
"DIDNT EVEN START IT!" he continued loudly.
for this one, you specifically made sure to mouth the words to megumi, who you could tell, just from his cruel facial expressions, wanted nothing more than to out you right then and there, but for the first time ever, it was your word against his, and with the way things were going, you were bound to win, no difficulty.
"THIS WILL GO DOWN IN THE HISTORY BOOKS, I TELL YOU! how SHE became the role-model for you dimwits."
"role model," you mouthed, pointing at everyone. "for you, for you, and especially," you made sure to swivel your finger in a circle this time, "you."
toji gritted his teeth at you, but said nothing. you grinned confidently.
uncle ogi turned away again, eyes closed shut as he sighed audibly, a vein on his forehead threatening to burst. it only popped up again when he found yuji and nobara staring back at him.
"AND WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TWO?"
"damn... you'd think he'd know our names by now," yuji commented, rubbing his neck with shame.
"right," nodded nobara, shaking her head. "so rude."
"friends of yours?" uncle ogi turned to you, speaking in that gruff tone he usually had. but it was significantly different to the way he had been speaking to the rest of the family today. you mentally giggled to yourself as you nodded. "fine."
he glared down at satoru and suguru, eyes twitching at the mess of pain all over their white shirts, brows furrowing at the mess maid of their hairs, and lips pursing at the broken glasses satoru was still clinging onto.
"you two..." he began, voice rough and firm. "go to shoko, just go."
satoru sat up defiantly. "i don't need —"
"NOW."
satoru and suguru did their walk of shame out of the backyard.
everyone had done theirs at some point.
everyone, you noted with a pleasant smile, except for you.

Spending Halloween With Them (headcanons)
Warnings: mentions of watching horror shows and playing scary games (not explicitly described), a lot of kissing in Naoya's (but it doesn't lead to anything s3xual) Gojo is an absolute menace and even dares to calls you one ="), Sukuna is another menace, pet names (pretty baby, mochi (gojo obv), baby)
A/n: I'm sorry I've been gone for so long =( I've had exams and I needed some rest for a while because I've just been feeling so tired but I'm better now and I'll be posting every week again! Take some of my headcanons and enjoy reading!
Characters: Itadori Yuuji, Fushiguro Megumi, Kugisaki Nobara, Gojo Satoru, Nanami Kento, Ryomen Sukuna (Sukuna has his own body in this but isn't in his OG form), Zenin Maki, Okkotsu Yuuta, Inumaki Toge, Suguru Geto (basically high school Geto, before he became all you know), Toji Fushiguro (he isn't broke in this fic just so it isn't as confusing), Naoya Zenin (he isn't misogynistic (for Fem!readers) cuz he loves you a lot!) x Gender Neutral!reader
Itadori Yuuji
Is honestly very hyped to spend the whole day with you! He has a full plan on things to do, characters to dress up as and even places to go for the whole Halloween atmosphere!
The two of you go through his list of potential dress up ideas and the both of you end up just deciding to be vampires together, because Yuuji mentioned that he never dressed up as one before and we all know how cute he'll look as one!
The first thing he did when he woke up on Halloween morning was ask you, "trick or treat?", and when you replied with "treat" he started kissing you all over your face and upper body, muttering "I love you so much" in between kisses <3 (when you asked him what "trick" was he admitted that he wouldn't have kissed you the whole day as a way to tease you ="))
Will bring lots and lots of candy to your dorm room and the two of you probably will spend most of the day in bed, cuddling and watching horror movies while eating all the candy. Yuuji probably won't get scared at all and will just focus on the movie, but if he senses that you're scared, he'll pull you closer to him and stroke your hair gently 🥺
The two of you will definitely go around Jujutsu High and say "I will suck your blood" to basically everyone you see. Most of them were amused and thought that the both of you were really cute together, and some others decided to play along with the two of you and made you both chase them around to "suck their blood".
Definitely goes to Gojo to do trick or treating because that man has no shortage of candy and sweets. He'll drag you along and pretend to suck your blood in front of Gojo, which makes him laugh (since he thinks the two of you are really adorable together) and he ends up giving you both loads of candy, which Yuuji feeds you once you get back to the dorm.
Overall, Yuuji loves Halloween because he gets to dress up and spend time having loads of fun with you! He loved the smile on your face when you looked at the reflection of you and him in the mirror, wearing your Halloween outfits and he's determined to make you smile that way again next Halloween!
Fushiguro Megumi
He didn't think much of it honestly but he overheard you talking about it to the other first years and who was he to disappoint his precious s/o by not dressing up with them? He spends so long deciding on what outfits he thinks would suit the both of you and just hands you a really really long list for you to decide.
You definitely tease him and say that he should be a sea urchin and that you'll be some other sea creature, which makes him roll his eyes with a small smile on his face from your silliness. He gets worried when you actually start planning a sea urchin outfit for him though, and you couldn't help but laugh at the half-nervous, half-betrayed look on his face. You both ended up agreeing to the both of you being werewolves together!
When the two of you go around the school to show off your outfits, everyone takes so, so many pictures, especially the first years and Gojo, because it's not everyday that you see the Fushiguro Megumi walking around with fluffy wolf ears on top of his head! Megumi gets really shy and clings to you, but all you have to do is kiss him and tell him how cute he is for him to feel better 🥺
Of course, Megumi returns the favour and places kisses all over your face and tells you that you look absolutely adorable, which flusters you so much. He loves the blush that creeps up your cheeks and thinks you look so cute! He also makes sure to take lots of pictures of you and sets one of them as his wallpaper <3
Thinks trick or treating is silly until he realises that he probably can get his revenge on everyone and ends up pulling so many pranks and tricks. Even you didn't know how good he was at tricking people, and now you know that it's best to never get on his bad side.
Buys some Halloween sweets and food that are limited edition so that the both of you can enjoy snacking on them while watching scary anime. To your surprise, he knew quite a few good anime that had that scare factor that you were looking for, so you decided to let him pick what to watch.
Overall, he wouldn't outright admit it, but he enjoys spending Halloween with you a lot. From dressing up with you to holding you protectively when you get scared by the anime you both are watching, Megumi just really enjoys the fun he has with you on Halloween!
Kugisaki Nobara
She's hardcore about Halloween. Seriously. She has a whole checklist of things she wants to be for Halloween and makes sure to never repeat them. She decided to be a fairy princess (mainly because she couldn't decide between being a fairy or princess) and you obliged in her request of being her fiancé from the elf kingdom.
She does the shopping for the outfits and is very careful with her choices. Nobara takes into consideration what colours would look good together, what styles each of you like and so on. Rest assured that the outfits she gets look amazing! Not to mention the small little crowns she gets for the both of you! (because she's a princess and you're her prince/princess)
She's the type to head out with you to the streets of Tokyo and join the Halloween costume parades! She loves that she's able to show off her costume along with you on a large scale while admiring the outfits of others! And if that isn't your thing, don't worry. She'll parade around Jujutsu High with you while telling you how cute and amazing you look. She'll make the others compliment you as well just to make you feel more confident about yourself <3
Gets a lot of Halloween themed food! It doesn't necessarily have to be candy; as long as it has the Halloween vibes she rolls with it. She makes the effort to get different decorations too, and sets the table beautifully, with all the food and decorations placed in a really aesthetic way. She even bought small plushies of various Halloween creatures to place on the table!
Not a huge fan of horror or scary shows in general, so she really likes funny Halloween shows and movies. They add onto the Halloween vibes without scaring her, which is perfect. She'll laugh a lot even if she has seen the show before, and it makes your heart flutter to see how much she's enjoying herself 🥺
Will go around asking 'trick or treat?" with you and will absolutely take the chance to trick Gojo and the other first years just because she wants to. She enjoys it a lot and just likes the lightheartedness of the whole situation (and of course the looks on their faces when she tricks them!)
Overall, spending time with Nobara on Halloween is really fun and enjoyable! The two of you will definitely end up in fits of giggles and make many wonderful memories together!
Gojo Satoru
This man- He loves Halloween for so many reasons: lots and lots of sweets and candy, dressing up with his beloved s/o and just tricking and pranking everyone. He takes Halloween as a personal challenge to scare everyone in Jujutsu High and you better watch out because you're on the list too =")
He decides to dress up as a yeti of all things. Like a huge, furry and tall yeti. He wears his oversized fluffy and furry winter jacket with white jeans of all things, and then goes around chasing the students when they don't even know what he is. And he'll continue to chase them until they give him some candy (please explain to him that that's not how trick or treating works)
He spends the whole day literally harassing everyone in Jujutsu High to get candy and the only one who managed to get him to stop was Shoko because of how long she's been dealing with all his antics. He then compiles the candy into one huge bag and brings it back to share with you!
No matter what you decide to dress up as, this man will hype you up so much! He'll be taking pictures of you the moment you're done dressing up and will start texting everyone, telling them how cute he thinks you look. He'll definitely kiss you all over and call you his "pretty baby, his one and only precious mochi" while you try to touch up your makeup for your outfit. But seriously, he loves you a lot and thinks you look spectacular in your outfit <3
Will eat candy the whole day unless you pout at him to eat proper food. You're his only weakness and it's not like he can say no to you, right? So when you beg him to stop eating sweets and eat something more substantial instead, he orders take out for the both of you while calling you "a cute little menace that he can't say no to" and when he sees the proud smile on your face, he'll kiss you gently and say, "But you're my cute little menace who's just looking out for me, aren't you?" 🥺
Will purposely put on the scariest movie he knows for the both of you to watch just so he can get you to cling onto him. He loves it when you tug on his shirt and bury your face into his chest when you get scared of the show and he'll just smirk and pat your head gently while munching on the sweets he has. He'll never go too far though. If you get seriously scared, he'll change the show to something you like and hug you really tight to make you feel safe again.
Overall, he's an even bigger menace on Halloween, but it's cute to see him have fun and relax! Also, please give him lots of candy! He'll love you forever and cling to you for an hour at least while telling you how much you mean to him =))
Nanami Kento
He doesn't really care or think much about it since it's not really his kind of thing, but he will absolutely hype you up and support you when you decide to dress up for Halloween! He'll take so many pictures of you as you're getting ready for the memories and sneak up on you to kiss you at the most random times!
After seeing how happy and excited you are for Halloween, he decides to join in the fun just a little. When you were in the living room to get some of your props for your outfit, he hid under the blanket on your shared bed. The moment he heard you open the door, he moved a little, pretending that he was a ghost, and you couldn't help but laugh at how sweet your boyfriend was to join in the fun <3 (he decided to only do that and not jump out of some random place so he doesn't scare you too much!)
Will encourage you to parade around your shared apartment in your outfit! He'll video tape it while clapping and cheering for you to give you a little confidence boost! The more outfits you have prepared, the better! Kento doesn't care how long you take to get ready, he's happy with just being able to see you have fun showing off your outfits to him!
He's a great cook, and also a very caring boyfriend who doesn't want you to eat too much candy. So, he decides to plan a special variety of dishes for Halloween so that you can have food that gives off Halloween vibes without getting a sugar overload. He makes the nicest pumpkin soup and even shapes the rice he cooks into little ghosts!
He will buy you all your favourite candies and sweets for Halloween, but will remind you to eat them in moderation. He cares a lot for you and wants you to stay healthy, but he doesn't want to spoil the fun of Halloween! He'll let you eat as much candy as you like after dinner when the two of you are cuddling.
He reads a lot. Like a lot. All sorts of genres from horror to romance. It's only natural for him to know a few good horror stories to tell you and that's exactly how you spend the evening with him. Cuddling and eating your candy while he tells you some of the scariest books he's read (he mentally filters the books to make sure he doesn't scare you too much, don't worry)
Overall, spending Halloween with him is fun and you know that even if he doesn't really participate, he'll support you in whatever you want to do! He loves seeing how excited you get over dressing up and getting to eat your favourite candies!
Ryomen Sukuna
He never exactly knew much about Halloween but trust me, once you tell him more about it, it's a nightmare for you. He'll trick and prank you all day
He decides to dress up in his true form of all things. Using clothes and stuffing them together (in some way that actually works for whatever reason) to create the two other arms he's missing and painting his two other eyes onto his face. He actually gets up so early to do it so that by the time you wake up, you're not greeted by your boyfriend's sleepy face next to yours, but instead a four-armed, four-eyed monster that you don't register to be your boyfriend at first.
The rest of the day is just filled with him pranking and teasing you. From leaving a container of fake spiders in the fridge where your fruits are, to hiding all of your costumes for Halloween under the blanket on your shared bed, he seriously makes it his goal to trick you as much as possible.
Of course, he's out to scare you a little too. When you asked him what he wanted to have for lunch, you were met with an odd silence. You decided to go to your shared bedroom, which is where you assumed he was. And instead of seeing him lying down on the bed watching television as per usual, you saw him on the floor, a pool of (fake) blood surrounding him and a (fake) knife stabbed through his chest. You actually got so scared (he wasn't responding to you at all) that you started to cry and he felt really bad, so he stopped pranking you the rest of the day.
The two of you spend the rest of the day cuddling on the couch and eating different kinds of candy together! He knows he's scared you way too much, so he decides to show you cute little Halloween crafts and does them together with you to make you feel better! His favourite to make with you had to be the small ghost cutouts that you two stuck around the house afterwards <3
When you finally wore your costume, he was super impressed by the amount of effort you put in and the whole outfit you chose. He started to take loads of pictures with you (he was still wearing his outfit) and then carried you while showering you in praise because he thinks you look super amazing in your outfit 🥺
Overall, he's a huge prankster and takes Halloween as a great opportunity to scare you, but will make sure to spend time with you doing cute Halloween stuff like dressing up together and eating candy!
Zenin Maki
She knows about Halloween mostly because the other second years keep telling her that she absolutely needs to dress up and parade around Jujutsu High with them in their outfits. And of course, since you showed interest in dressing up, she couldn't say no.
She decided to dress up as a witch, and you couldn't help but want to be her black cat! She laughed at you at first, but when she realised how serious you were, she tried to convince you to be something else. Of course, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to dress up with your girlfriend as a pair, so you persisted and she gave in.
Definitely hugs and kisses you all over after seeing you in your outfit. It's partially because she's really touched and happy that you decided to go as a pair with her, and also because you looked so cute in your cat onesie! She pats your head a lot and comments on how soft and fluffy your onesie is 🥺 (she lowkey wants to borrow it because she thinks it'll be nice to sleep in)
After the whole Halloween fashion parade with the other second years, she decided to go to your dorm, since it was fully decked out in Halloween decorations! She brought the candy she had bought a few days before and to your surprise, she just eats candy for lunch with you. She laughs when you ask her if she wants to eat more healthily, and rightfully points out that it's not everyday that she gets to eat junk food and nothing else for a meal. The two of you end up getting sick of the sweetness of the candy after a while and cook some savoury foods together!
The two of you definitely have a friendly competition on who can get more candy from everyone in Jujutsu High. You both set off at the same time and agree to meet back at the dorms at the same time to make it fair! When you both got back, you realised that the two of you both had the same number of candy despite having asked different people (and those people were giving random amounts of candy), which caused the two of you to burst out laughing! The punishment for the loser was to do whatever the winner wanted, and you both had a mutual agreement to cuddle while watching some horror comedies that night!
The two of you spend the evening and night watching shows and eating snacks! You gave Maki your onesie and she was very comfortable in it, so comfortable that she almost fell asleep from how warm and nice it felt! The two of you ended up sleeping in the couch together since you were both lazy to head to the bed, snuggling under a blanket and holding hands <3
Overall, spending Halloween with your girlfriend is definitely more fun than you expected! Maki is usually hyped and spontaneous when it comes to things you like to do, and Halloween wasn't an exception!
Okkotsu Yuuta
He used to be scared of Halloween and stuff because he didn't exactly get to see a lot of different outfits and somehow only saw the scary ones =( So when you asked him to dress up with you as animals, he was surprised because "do people really dress up as cute things on Halloween?"
When he found out that Halloween is just about dressing up as what you want, he felt really relieved! He picks out a cute bunny onesie for himself and you pick a matching one, but in a different colour. The first thing the two of you did when you changed into your outfits was to play with each other's fluffy bunny ears! He really enjoyed the whole process of getting dressed and doing makeup to make his outfit even more complete!
He takes loads of pictures of you and you do the same for him. The other second years eventually get tired of the two of you taking pictures of each other, and not together, so they make the two of you stand together and pose while they take a cute picture for the two of you! You all then parade around the school campus in your outfits while laughing and talking to each other about the inspiration behind your Halloween outfits!
Makes small little Halloween pastries for the two of you to eat! From ghost-shaped pies to pumpkin-flavoured cookies in the shape of pumpkins, it was truly a cute and delicious feast made by none other than your boyfriend! He even went to look for recipes for candy that the two of you could make together and needless to say, you both spent the rest of the day making different types of candy together <3
He knows you like keeping photos with him framed up in your room, so he uses the photo printer in the school to print out one of the pictures the other second years took for the two of you, and makes a special frame with cute Halloween stickers and drawings! He even adds small compliments, like "my baby looking really cute and adorable with me!" and "just two cute little bunnies!" along the side of the frame 🥺
He isn't a fan of scary shows or movies, so the two of you spend the evening talking to each other about what to do next Halloween! Yuuta honestly didn't expect himself to enjoy Halloween that much, but he can't wait for the next Halloween the two of you can spend together! He starts planning the different outfits the two of you could dress up in and the various activities you could do together! You couldn't help but kiss him because he just looked so cute and enthusiastic when planning, with his eyes lit up in excitement and his cute little rambling!
Overall, Halloween with Yuuta is sweet and wholesome! It's really just bonding time for the two of you, and you both enjoy it a lot. He's waiting eagerly for next Halloween, and you can't wait to see what kind of activities he has planned out for then!
Inumaki Toge
He really likes Halloween because he gets to prank people. Yeah he just likes it because he can finally make use of all his fake insects, whoopee cushions and other prank tools on the others! Of course, you're spared from his pranks, unless you request to be included (trust me you don't want to be)
Dresses up as an onigiri! You decided to go along with the food theme and dressed up as a piece of sushi and the other second years started to call you the "food couple", which wasn't untrue! He spent a long time trying to make his outfit from random cardboard boxes he had, and his effort truly paid off when you looked at him in amazement. It looked so real and you couldn't help but think your costume was much lamer compared to his. Of course, he would never let his s/o think that and immediately started texting you about just how cute you looked to him 🥺
Takes lots of pictures of the two of you together! He saves them to a special album he created on his phone for special memories he makes with you, and prints loads of those pictures out, with a copy each for both you and him! He then adds the pictures to his journal and decorates the few pages with different Halloween craft materials that you brought over to his dorm! You take the opportunity to decorate your own journal as well, and the two of you exchange journals at some point to write cute messages for each other <3
Will go on an intense trick or treat session with Panda and you, only if you want to! If you follow him, he'll make sure to show you the best tricks he has up his sleeve and you'll be laughing until your stomach hurts in no time! But if you rather wait for him in his dorm, he'll bring back all the candy he got and split it equally with you!
He gets kind of scared at some point of time because he tricked Maki for the fun of it, but she looked like she was ready to get her revenge on him anytime. You end up having to ask Maki to save the revenge for when she's paired up with Toge during training to allow your boyfriend to relax for the rest of the day.
He isn't a fan of scary shows either, so he spends the rest of the day eating candy and playing Halloween board games with you! It's a really fun way to spend the time together, and the both of you enjoyed it very much!
Overall, Toge will be an absolute prankster on Halloween and that's for sure! He makes it his mission to prank everyone except you after all! Nonetheless, he makes sure to spend loads of time with you and the both of you are guaranteed to enjoy the day together!
Suguru Geto
He likes Halloween mainly because he loves dressing up with you! You told him to surprise you with an outfit for Halloween and he planned like… 3 months in advance because he wanted it to be perfect! He ended up getting you a cute angel costume and he dressed up as the devil!
Helps you with your makeup and anything you might need when you're getting ready! He's really good at doing makeup for anyone, including himself, so he's more than happy to help you if you need him to apply any kind of makeup or face paint to make your entire look more complete!
Goes around and bothers Gojo and Shoko soooo much with you. You might be dressed as an angel, but that doesn't mean you have to act like one, right? Suguru has multiple plans to steal Gojo's candy and he makes sure that you're involved in all of them! You're basically an innocent little angel, looking really cute in your outfit while your boyfriend is the one dressed as the devil, the menace. So naturally the last thing your boyfriend's best friends would expect is for you to steal Gojo's bag of candy from the table he placed them on while your boyfriend was talking to them. The look on Gojo's face was priceless and needless to say, you and Suguru enjoyed pranking him a lot!
Your boyfriend knew how much you liked keychains and plush toys, so he made you and him a stuffed toy keychain each, according to what you dressed up as. You could tell how much time and effort he spent on perfecting all the small details on your angel keychain, from the way you smiled to the design of the outfit you were wearing! Instead of hanging it on your bag, you decided to keep it safe on the bedside table. Suguru thought that it was a cute idea and did the same with his, the two of your keychains leaning on each other beside your shared bed <3
He buys different types of candy that you've both never tried before so that you can have a small taste test and decide on which candies you would buy again, and which ones you would slip into the food of your worst enemies because they just tasted that bad. You both had a good laugh and had loads of fun reviewing the food as if you both were food connoisseurs!
Suguru prefers playing horror games over watching scary shows, so he picks out a game that the both of you can play. If you get too scared, he'll switch the game to another one that he can play by himself and he'll let you hide your face in his chest if you get too frightened! If he notices that you're seriously terrified, he'll definitely stop playing and switch to another fun and not scary game for you 🥺
Overall, Suguru is the best person you could spend Halloween with! You love everything the two of you do together on Halloween, and he enjoys it just as much as you do, if not even more!
Toji Fushiguro
He's heard of it, but he doesn't really care about it. To him, it's just some random event where people dress up and try to be scary and what not. But when you told him that you wanted to spend Halloween with him, he couldn't help but relent. He seriously loves you too much to reject your idea anyway.
You wanted him to be a prince, while you dressed up as a prince/princess. However, Toji had strong objections to it since he felt that he should be your knight instead. Someone who protects you and who is there to save you if you need it. You knew that he was pretty much set on the idea, and you weren't even expecting him to be so open to the idea of dressing up with you, so you agreed for him to be your knight in shining armour!
He wouldn't go out and parade his outfit with you in public, but you both have a photoshoot at home together for sure! You bring out your tripod, lights and even various props to make the whole atmosphere and scene more realistic, which Toji finds cute. Afterall, being able to see you excited over just dressing up was something he thought he wouldn't witness.
Brings you to a haunted house and makes a deal with you. If you didn't hold onto him or scream the whole way through the haunted house, he would buy you whatever candy and Halloween decorations you wanted. But if you didn't uphold your end of the deal, you would have to buy Toji whatever food he wanted instead of your candy. You lost the bet in the end (he actually brought you to one of the scariest haunted houses-) but he bought you your candy in the end because he just loves you too much 🥺
Will help you with setting up your Halloween party. He doesn't really get why you want to have a party, but he goes along with it anyway. You both enjoy lots of Halloween treats and candies while you tell him lots of Halloween stories you've heard before, mostly funny ones since you wanted to make him smile. He does smile in the end, but it's mostly because he could tell that you were having a lot of fun <3
You make him a small card with the pictures you took together with him in your outfits! You added cute ghost stickers and pumpkin drawings all around the card, along with a heartfelt message on how thankful you were for him going along with your Halloween plans. And Toji will never admit it but he was deeply touched and would definitely do it again with you next Halloween!
You can be assured that next Halloween, your boyfriend would still be participating in your Halloween plans! He just wants to spend more time with you and see you enjoy yourself lots more!
Naoya Zenin
Surprisingly, he really likes Halloween! He likes the feeling of being more carefree and relaxed while pranking people and getting candy! He also loves that he'll get to see you in a cute outfit and dress up with you!
He decided to be a wizard and you offered to be his assistant or something, but he told you to be whatever you wanted to be and not be influenced by whatever he chose. So you decided to dress up as a ghost who tailed your wizard "friend" everywhere he went! He was shocked when you told him that you wanted to follow him despite having such different outfits, but he wasn't going to refuse the company of his favourite person, so he made sure that the two of you were always holding hands when going around <3
He makes sure to tell you how cute you look every now and then! When the two of you were going for one of those Halloween parades on the streets of Tokyo, he held onto your hand tightly and whispered little compliments into your ear, which made you blush (not that anyone could see since you had cloth covering your cheeks). He also placed small and gentle kisses on the top of your head from time to time 🥺
Comes up with a full list of tricks he can pull on people but with you next to him, he doesn't feel like being mean. He uses the time he wanted to spend on tricking people to bring you to different places to buy Halloween themed things, like decorations and food, instead. He also brings you to a haunted house, which was actually meant mostly for children. But he couldn't risk scaring you too much so he decided that that was the best course of action.
Plays unique Halloween games with you. He loves mixing up all the candy you got in a huge bag and he'll make you pick one out, eat it and then he'll kiss you and try to guess what candy it was from the remaining flavour left on your tongue. You always get really flustered from it, but he still carries on with the game because he knows that you'll let him know if you don't like it.
His favourite thing to do is make different puppets of Halloween creatures and create a whole storyline with them! He always lets you give each puppet a unique personality, and then both of you think of a funny storyline for the puppets. It's fun, not scary and still Halloween related!
Overall, spending time with Naoya on Halloween is a good decision because he's gonna make sure you have as much fun as possible! He'll make you want Halloween to last forever.
Ahhhh sorry I'm a day (or two, depending on your timezone) late, I was having too much fun on Halloween itself AHAHA. I just love Halloween so much! Also I'm writing this at like 2am so I'm sorry for any typos =") Hope you enjoyed reading and Happy (belated) Halloween everyone!

Bugs and Hisses ✧ Draco x Reader
Summary: Halloween with Draco <3 Friends into BOO’s (teehee)
Warnings: mild drinking nothing tooo crazy but not encouraging it !
Words: 5.2K
A/N: this is my first one shot in like a month and i ofc had to do something for halloween even tho im a tad late but its still a halloweekend KIND OF !!!!!!! </3 I HOPE ITS GOOOD
“No, it’s a stupid holiday.”
Draco crossed his arms in a stubborn child-like way, a scowl on his face as he stared forward towards the front of the class where Snape was giving a lecture on the small but vicious Erkling creatures.
“Come on, please,” you pleaded quietly. Your gaze kept flickering between your easily-irked professor and the pouting blond beside you, hoping that in a few short seconds you would get the answer you were hoping for that way you could get back into your notes instead of possibly getting a detention or losing house points.
In all the years you’ve been friends with the Prince of Slytherin, you learned that he loathed the holiday and any festivities that came with it. Every year, you beg him to go out to one of the many parties that are thrown ranging from small gatherings to full-on blowouts or just do something halloween related with you, but he always refuses. His reasoning, as he put it, was that he was simply ‘too mature to be dressing up as a foul creature.’
You knew he mostly spent the holiday either asleep in his dorm or walking around aimlessly with Crabbe and Goyle to target unsuspecting first-years after the big feast but this year, you finally had enough of his anti-halloween agenda. You wanted to spend the evening and hopefully night with him laughing by your side and showing him how fun everything could be, but most of all - you wanted to see him in a costume.
“Please, if you go I will never ask you for anything ever again,” you tried again once Snape had turned his back to the class.
Draco pursed his lips as though he was genuinely considering it, his eyes still locked on the back of the greasy-haired professor before he turned slightly to you with a deep sigh. “Fine, but don’t expect this to be an annual thing.”
You gave him a bright smile, holding yourself back from jumping around in your seat and completely pushing aside the desire to throw your arms around him in excitement.
“I promise you’ll have fun.”
He hid the small smile that grew on his face from seeing how happy his answer made you, turning his head down towards his parchment filled with notes that all of a sudden seemed interesting as he avoided your gaze. He wouldn’t admit it, but he was the smallest bit of excited at the thought of spending the holiday with you because he knew that wherever you went or whatever you did, he would be perfectly content with you by his side because for the first time in all your years as friends; he realized only a month ago that the weird fluttering feeling in the pit of his stomach when he was around you or the weird overwhelming warmth that spread throughout his entire body like an ocean of water breaking through a dam - was a crush. He hated it at first, noticing and begrudgingly acknowledging it. He thought it was cliche that he somehow fell for one of his closest friends and mostly, he thought that he was going to ruin the friendship entirely. He wanted to wreck it himself, trying to distance himself from you and being extra mean - but he couldn’t.
He adored your company too much and everything that came with you. He adores your laugh, your smile, your hugs when you greet him and how you somehow give him one each time he needs it the most. He adores the study-buddy system you guys have almost every other week before a quiz or an exam. He adores your bad jokes and clumsy accidents even though those qualities annoy him with anyone else. He adores the way you want him to join you in everything fun you and he especially adores the times when he overhears you talking about him as if he’s your favorite person in the world.
Bottom line, he’s all about you.
So when this season of spookiness came, he was expecting your pleading for him to spend the day with you. Only this time, it only took you a couple times before he ultimately agreed to give in to you.
You were ready to explode with thrill at the thought of what the night held in store for you and you didn’t hide it one bit. When the big Hogwarts Hallowe’en feast was over and every one began spilling out from the Great Hall and into the main foyer, you were searching restlessly for a clean mop of silver hair that almost always stuck out in the mass of students. You weren’t sure if you were able to spot him anywhere in under a few seconds because he was unimaginably important to you, or because his hair was so uniquely bright, or maybe it was how boisterous and loud Crabbe and Goyle always were when they were by him, especially if he was with other Slytherins - but you found him, every single time with ease.
After standing on your tippy-toes several times to overlook the stampede of everyone, you finally spotted Draco leaning across a pillar with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face while he stood in a circle of his House friends that included his two goons and his quidditch teammates. You watched him thoughtfully as you approached, taking slow steps towards the group to admire him from afar and also because they were all slightly intimidating. He looked lost in the conversation, laughs escaping from his upturned lips as he listened to whatever was being said, large pale hands running through his hair every so often when the front pieces of his hair would flop down to his forehead.
He looked ridiculously good and effortlessly at that.
You weren’t sure if you should interrupt, hesitating a few feet away from them to where they couldn’t sense your presence but you were close enough to see and hear them clearly.
“We’ll see you later tonight then, Malfoy?” One of the boys nodded towards Draco.
“I’ll show up for a bit, I suppose,” he shrugs.
You see him look around the circle of boys, eyes landing on you momentarily and then back to his friends before doing a double-take towards you again in surprise. You tried to ignore the butterflies erupting in your stomach when his smile widens slightly into a short-lived toothy grin while he said a quick goodbye to his friends causing them all to disband and him to start approaching you.
“Are you ready for the halloween of a lifetime?” You ask as he neared.
He rolled his eyes, laughing faintly. “Where am I meeting you, darling?”
The nick name he used so rarely for you made your knees feel weak, a warm blush rushing up your neck and inching onto your cheeks that you knew was going to be very apparent on your face in a few seconds.
“I’ll meet you right here in an hour,” you say quickly.
You didn’t give him time to answer before you turned quickly in the direction of your common room and began rushing away before he could see the effect he had on you that was so clearly appearing on your face.
You didn’t know what the night held for you and Draco or where it would lead you. Unknowing to you, you were both hoping something more could come out of the evening between the two of you. But he wasn’t one to express himself in that department of feelings and you weren’t feeling bold enough to say anything about yours. It was a gray area of hoping that fate could somehow intervene and throw the two of you into what you both wanted without either of you really saying anything - but it was impossible. There was no outcome or situation you had in mind that could lead you into that, so you were stuck desperately hoping that one day things might end up differently.
It was beginning to feel ironic how in your world full of real tangible magic, there wasn’t a magical solution to your problem. You were trapped feeling like a muggle who had to figure things out by themselves, no magic included. The thought of giving him a love potion did cross your mind as a joke, but it wasn’t a genuine or fair option but little did you know, you don’t need a potion for him to feel the same way - because he already did.
Walking into your dorm felt like an exuberant disaster of everyone running around and sitting in front of mirrors with their makeup or dressing into their costumes. It was noisy and filled with chatter and you were in shock from how much clutter everyone was able to make in such a short period of time from when the feast ended to now. A simple spell would clean everything up so you and everybody else didn’t really pay it any mind.
You maneuvered around the mess of your housemates and towards your bed where your costume was kept in the trunk underneath it, plopping down onto the floor to pull it from the underskirt of your House colored bedding.
“Did he finally say yes?” Your closest roomie friend jumped onto your bed, propping herself up on her elbows and resting her chin on her hands as she watched you dig through your bottomless trunk.
“Surprisingly, yes,” you answered, hiding the smile on your face.
She drawled out a teasing ‘ooh,’ poking your arm lightly with her index finger as you shied away and leaned deeper into your trunk. She was the only one who you willingly admitted your crush to as she was the only person you really trusted to not blather it off to someone.
“Will I be seeing you two in the Slytherin common room?” She wiggled her eyebrows. “The boys are throwing a party and I luckily got an invite, you know how they are. So picky with who shows up.”
“You mean they’re pretentious?” You laugh. “But I don’t know if we’ll be going to it. I know Draco obviously got invited but I was thinking we could do other things.”
“Like what?” She questions as if she knew it was going to be something dirty. “I know a few secret spots around the castle-”
“No, get your mind out of the gutter,” you smack her arm lightly. “I honestly have no clue what to do. I didn’t think he’d actually agree because he never does.”
She runs her hands over her face, stifling her laughs of disbelief before she sighed loudly. “I still suggest some broom closets, hidden out of sight.”
You sit up, pushing her from where she was lying while she laughed amusingly at your false horrified reaction that you put on to hide the fact from her that what she was suggestion really was what you wanted.
“I’ll leave you alone so you can get your costume on,” she smiles, jumping up from your bed and tossing one of your pillows at you as she walked away. You let out a huff, tossing it back onto your duvet before setting your costume down on the spot your friend was lying in.
You stared at it hesitantly, all of a sudden feeling nauseous at the thought of going out later with Draco as if it was some sort of date even though you knew it wasn’t. It was just two friends, hanging out, doing some spooky and fun Halloween activities together and nothing more; so why were you feeling so nervous? You weren’t sure if it was your instincts warning you of something major that was approaching or the fear that what you didn’t have planned was going to bite you in the arse when you continuously told Draco he was going to enjoy himself when you didn’t even know if that was going to be true. You didn’t want to disappoint him and mess it up for you in the future when the holiday came again and you didn’t want this to be the first and last time you experienced it with him.
The pressure was raining down on you like thick, hard pieces of hail with no end in sight.
As you were getting dressed and doing your makeup for your costume as you liked, (i’m trying to be vague for your own imagination teehee) all you could think about was what in the hell you were going to do once you met up with the Prince of Slytherin. Your train of thought was then derailed into wondering what he was going to be dressed up as or if he was going to be dressed up at all considering the way he is. He was the type to make fun of people who dressed up, that you knew when you ran into him last year as you were walking back to your common room with your friend, both of you in costume and victims of his gentle bullying. He obviously went easier on the two of you since you were there, telling you he was just messing around afterwards and saying he liked yours but once you were out of his sight but still in ear-shot, you heard him and his two minions berating a small group of people that unfortunately passed by them.
You gave yourself one last look in the floor mirror, letting out a long shaky exhale with your hands clasped together before you started towards the way out of your dorm, through the common room, and ultimately towards the foyer outside the Great Hall where Draco was most likely waiting for you. An hour had gone by since you last saw him, an hour of stress and panic that hadn’t slowed down or stopped.
Your shoes dragged against the stone floors, hugging yourself tightly as you walked nearer towards the spot where you were supposed to meet and as you lifted your gaze - you saw him there, staring right at you with a small grin and just like you expected, no costume.
“Nice costume,” he compliments when you reach him.
“Where’s yours?” You frown.
“I’m not dressing up. That’s embarrassing,” he shakes his head.
You scoff, crossing your arms. “You’re the only one not dressed up, that’s embarrassing.”
You don’t know why it was irritating to you that he wasn’t in costume, even if you knew he wasn’t. You figured it was because you were trying to overpower your nervousness with different more consuming feelings, and much to your and Draco’s dismay, it worked.
You weren’t nervous anymore, just irked.
“I’m staying like this, take it or leave it.”
You rolled your eyes, staring him down and hoping that he would change his mind but he wouldn’t. He was ridiculously stubborn.
In the heat of the moment of a fleeting thought, you decided that if he wasn’t going to be in costume, you would put him in one or at least a hint of one. You pulled your wand out, pointing it onto his striking white hair and with one easy spell, his hair was now a flaming vibrant red.
“Y/N!” He growled, running towards the closest thing that would show off his reflection where he let out a string of frantic curse words. “I look like a bloody Weasley.”
Your laughter caught him off guard, the sound ringing in his ears like music that spread warmth throughout him. You were clutching at your stomach with one hand and pointing at him with the other, giggling wildly at the sight of him with hair that did not suit him at all. He smiled to himself, your glee rubbing off on him abruptly that ate away quickly at his anger.
“You should’ve given me some ratty old hand-me-down robes and I’d look just like Ron,” he notes.
“That’s rude, Draco,” you say still laughing. He smirks, leaving the shiny statue of a knight in armor where he was checking his reflection and back over to you where you were still stuck in between doubling over in laughter and watching him.
“I’m glad this is funny to you,” he muses. He begins digging into the pocket of his dress pants, taking your vulnerability as a chance for him to tap his wand to the top of your head and before you could react, your whole hair had turned a deep green.
Your laughter immediately ended as you ran towards the suit of armor, your grimacing reflection staring back at you with deep Slytherin green hair and a distorted Draco behind you doubling over just like you were moments ago.
“This looks,” you couldn’t even finish your sentence, the scowl on your face saying enough for you as you turned bitterly towards Draco.
“Great?” He suggested, his guffawing subsiding into airy chuckles as you stood in front of him. Yours picked up again as you stared up at him, his striking bright red hair looking terribly unfamiliar on him. He was looking down at you, his heart jumping at the sight of you holding back your laughter. “You really do look dashing by the way.”
You swallowed thickly, thankful for the darkness that had settled around the castle and easily hid the scarlet brush appearing on your face. “But my hair is green.”
“Green is my favorite color.”
You opened your mouth to speak, your stomach and heart dropping simultaneously as your mind went completely blank. You pretended to not notice how he took a step closer to you to where he was almost fully against you and he pretended not to notice the way your lips were parted and how your chest was rising and falling a little too heavily as if you were nervous. It was game over for you when his gaze flickered down towards your lips and then back to your eyes, his head leaning down just the slightest like if he were waiting for you to meet him halfway. You were about to get closer to him, about to let your eyes close and give in to what you believed was him wanting to kiss you - but the world had other plans.
“Malfoy! There you are!” Someone boomed, clambering up the steps from the direction of the dungeons. You both jumped away from each other, your attention diverted to the Slytherin boy that interrupted the moment. “Malfoy come on, the party! And you can bring her too.”
You frowned when the boy came up to the two of you, clearly tipsy, dressed as a stereotypical vampire, and over-excited with the fact that Draco was out and willing to participate in Halloween festivities. It seemed like it bothered the now red-head when he looked to you and then back to the Slytherin boy with an apprehensive expression.
The boy, sensing the pause in the air, grabbed onto both you and Draco’s arms and started dragging the two of you towards the Slytherin common room where although the stone walls were thick, the sound of people celebrating inside were easily slipping past the stone slabs. He spoke the password out quickly and as soon as the entrance was open, you were both shoved inside into what looked like the largest party you had ever witnessed in all your years at Hogwarts. It was packed and filled with what looked like half of the school, or at least a huge majority of fifth-years and up. It was loud with music booming from a brand new wizarding-world radio in the middle of the room currently playing a song from the Weird Sisters. It smelled like a mixture of everyone’s perfumes and colognes and like firewhisky. The boy that pushed you two inside quickly passed you two cups of the very potent firewhisky before downing the third one he had in his hand and disappeared into the crowd while screaming for you to enjoy yourselves.
You both stood awkwardly away from the big and rowdy crowd, your drink clenched tightly in your hand against your chest and Draco swishing his around while it was still in the cup.
He wanted to up and run, thinking that someone was going to make a comment about his hair or about him being there, but no one seemed to pay attention to him or that he was there and in a way, he felt relieved by it and less tense by the second.
“How in the bloody hell did we end up here?” You yelled over the music, putting a hand over his arm that was holding his drink up. You didn’t mean to, but you were glad you did because he glanced down at the contact with a small smile before looking back up to you.
“We got dragged here, remember!” He yelled back.
“What?”
“We got dragged here!”
“I can’t hear you!”
He rolled his eyes, bending down towards your ear to repeat himself one last time before you finally heard him over the mayhem around you.
“This is crazy!” You looked around the room, the sight of all the bodies and recklessness being too much as they were all more than likely drunk and oblivious to how stuffy and suffocating the room was becoming.
You looked down at the golden brown liquid sloshing around in your cup, wondering whether or not you should take it, but with the nervousness you felt coming back, it didn’t take you much longer to decide to down your cup and allow the liquid courage to seep into your veins. Draco watched you with amusement, chuckling to himself when you scrunched up your face in disgust from the burn he knew it caused as it went down your throat. He shook his head, deciding to drink his too and it was only minutes that passed before the drink was quickly becoming apparent in your systems. There was something about Firewhisky that always made its mark promptly and it really was courage in a bottle that you were glad was available to you in that moment because you were sure that in just a few minutes you were close to fainting.
You were beginning to sway faintly to the music, the rhythm sounding more loud but distant and more invigorating. You didn’t care anymore if anyone was watching or that Draco was observing you curiously just as he was beginning to lose all sense of holding himself back. He was inching closer to you, his head moving slightly to beat of the song and pure joy etched onto his features when your eyes met his.
“I keep forgetting I turned your hair red!” You yelled up to him, laughing loudly when he ran his hand through it. In your moment of confidence, you reached up and lightly ran your fingers over one of the front pieces hanging over his forehead. He didn’t stop you, his heart hammering against his chest from the drink and his overwhelming crush that was clouding all his senses. “Your hair is so soft!”
He wanted to pin you up against the wall right then and there. You were peering up at him, just as you were before you were dragged inside by one of his Housemates and as soon as he was about to kiss you.
“Do you want to get out of here?” He knew to bend down this time for you to hear him to which you responded with a fervent nod. You took his hand in yours, pulling him towards the exit of the common room and he let you lead him into the coldness of the dungeons that bit at his cheeks. It was a stark difference from the warmth inside, the crisp October air being more chilled than what either of you were expecting. It felt nice against your flushed skin and easier to breathe, especially once after the common room closed again and you could hear was muffled talking and music.
Neither of you were drunk and were still aware of pretty much everything, mostly the feelings stirring inside you both that was begging either of you to make a move towards the other. You were just a tad tipsy, and so was he, but it was enough for you to still enjoy the night without the initial awkwardness that oddly settled in between you. It was weird, considering how open and talkative you usually were with each other but there was something about the evening that made it feel like if you didn’t know each other.
“What now?” He asked you with a raised brow, his hand slipping into his pocket.
You smiled, an idea coming to your head that you knew he would love and you didn’t mind doing in the name of Halloween. “Do you want to go mess with people?”
He stared at you with widened eyes, “bloody hell, I love you.”
There was nothing that could have prepared you for his response, your own eyes widening in shock as you stared at him. He felt his face get hot in embarrassment, Merlin, he felt so stupid. He was mentally smacking himself in the head, desperately wishing he could bury himself seven feet under the Earth and staying there until the end of time.
He was about to play off what he said in a joking way, but for the second time that night he was interrupted by a couple that stumbled out of the common room drunkenly snogging each other’s faces off and wholly oblivious to you and Draco standing there in lingering panic. You jumped back into his arms when the couple staggered past you, almost knocking you over in the process of their makeout session and it annoyed you beyond belief. It annoyed you that they were in your way, annoyed that they interrupted you, annoyed that it wasn’t you in their position with the one you wanted.
You dug your wand out of your pocket, flicking it their way as they rolled onto the wall, still in each other’s hold until the hex that flew from your wand hit the boy causing him to stagger back from the girl and holding his nose in pain. You heard Draco laugh from behind you when bats began to fly out from the boy’s nostrils while the girl screamed and ran away from one of the bats that swept down onto her head. The bats flew out of the dungeon and up the stairs with the boy struggling loudly the whole way up until his panicked screams were no longer heard.
“That was a perfect bat-bogey,” he looks at you proudly. “I feel bad for that poor bloke’s nose.”
“Thank you, thank you,” you bowed jokingly.
When the sound of the door opened again, you both ran to hide behind a long drape against the wall that didn’t hide your shoes very well and pressed up against your bodies that’s shapes were no doubt visible from the opposite side.
You heard footsteps trail haphazardly down the corridor, their back seemingly facing you and as you both peeked your heads out from behind the drape, Draco nodded towards the boy and pointed his wand towards him.
“Slugulus Eructo,” you heard him whisper and a stream of green light from his wand hit the back of the boy’s head and as he turned around in surprise while doubling over in pain, his hand clamped tightly over his mouth as slugs began to slip past the spaces between his fingers. When he stood up to run away, you noticed it was the same boy from earlier that stopped you two from the almost kiss and dragged you to the party. You let out a string of giggles as he ran away just like your last victims.
“This is so mean,” you chortle, leaning into him from behind the drape in an attempt to get closer to him. You were feeling bolder when he beamed down at you, feeling happy knowing that although the night was still young, he was having fun. “Thank you for coming with me tonight, I know you don’t like Halloween.” You say quietly.
“You finally convinced me, it’s not that bad,” he grins.
“Why’d you hate it in the first place?”
The question seemed to strike a nerve but the Firewhisky still flowing freely in his veins tore away easily at his defenses so instead of avoiding your question entirely like he usually would, he frowned and let his guard down.
“I don’t hate it,” he answers apprehensively. “My father never let me celebrate it. He never let me dress up. He told me respectable wizards don’t partake in holidays like these.”
His pout made your gut twist in sympathy, your hand instinctively going into his as you squeezed it reassuringly. “It’s never too late to start celebrating. Besides, I don’t see him here stopping you.”
He smiled for what felt like the hundredth time that night, his stained-red hair falling over his eyes as he looked down to his shoes.
“You have a point, darling.”
The door of the common room opened again and what you suspected to be another snogging couple to stumble out from the sound of heavy breathing and multiple shoes scuffling about was something completely different.
“Glad Malfoy stayed with someone else today.” It was Crabbe.
“Yeah, he never lets us go to these parties,” Goyle responds. “Go ahead and thank Y/L/N for freeing us, he fancies her like a fool.”
“Reckon we should go look for them?”
You figured Goyle nodded to him like the blathering idiot he was because in a few short seconds they were running away up the same steps everyone else had.
You peered up slowly at Draco who was already gaping at you like a deer in headlights. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. The gears in your brain were spinning wildly with happiness, the gossip hopefully being proven true when he didn’t try to deny it. You didn’t realize how close his face was to yours, cheeks tinged with pink from both the firewhisky and sudden shyness and his warm cinnamon breath fanning your face as he looked down at you.
“I can explain,” he finally said.
He didn’t need to; you placed your hands gently on his cheeks, pulling him impossibly closer to you and pressing your lips against his, catching him completely by surprise. His eyes were wide at first, his body rigid and his lips unmoving, but once it finally clicked that this was real and no longer a fantasy that played like a broken record in his head, his lips moved fervently against yours with the rest of his body following. His hands gripped your hips tightly, his fingers squeezing at the hem of your bottoms and his body pushing even further into yours.
Your bottom lip caught lightly in between his teeth as you reluctantly pulled away from him, the both of you breathing raggedly as you searched each other’s eyes.
“I feel the same,” you said softly. “Happy Halloween.”
He smashes his lips hungrily against yours again, his ego growing with each gasp of a delight that escapes your mouth as your hands roamed and tangled themselves into his magically colored strands.
“Very...happy...halloween,” he mutters against your lips in between kisses, a dazy smile adorning your face while he tightened his arms around you.
You just couldn’t wait until next year.

Random date night with Illumi, Hisoka, and Chrollo
Hello, anon! Ask and you shall receive! This prompt is very interesting and I will try to keep it in character as much as possible. To sum this up, Hisoka would take you to an ice cream shop, a carnival, or apple orchard while Illumi would rather go to an art or historical museum. Chrollo would persuade you to attend a book reading/author signing or go hiking. Depending on who you are and what your ideal date is, I’m sure you’d find them all fun. Going to a carnival or apple orchard is my go-to since I’ve barely been because they’re all in the suburbs. These headcanons are explained much more than the others. That is why Chrollo and Illumi seem to be short, but they’re not. Also, I can’t wait for Halloween because these headcanons are going to be amazing. I am extremely sorry if there are grammar errors! Taking classes on Zoom is frustrating and now my brain has to relearn everything that I lost in 3 months! Before we get started, I have a few announcements.
This post is more laid back than my other headcanons because I tried to keep it as canon as possible.
I want to thank you all for 65 followers! It means a lot! I’m happy to see that a lot of you enjoy my writing and like it enough to follow me! I have a challenge for you! When I reach 100 followers, I will host some type of writing event here...but I need ideas. I’ve seen some pages do specials where you can send an ask and pretend like you're talking to a character and I respond with what they’d say. SEND ME IDEAS! I WILL CREDIT YOU!
I will be stepping back a little more than before. I’ll still be logged in and re-blogging but as far as writing posts like this...it may only be once or twice a week. You see, I’m in college and I’m struggling financially and I have to work on scholarships. If you all send me an ask, be patient.
Voltron posts will only be created based on asks. I will not be writing posts about VLD if no one requests them. I do not receive any feedback from it anymore and no one seems to like them.
Now, let’s get into the post.
Let's start with Illumi first.
Headcanon 1: Illumi has a secret admiration for different types of art but he specifically enjoys pop art and surrealism. He has commented on how surrealism makes his brain twist and his feelings swirl as he tries to figure out the piece and what inspires it.
He prefers not to participate in tours as he likes to digest the art at his own pace.
Headcanon 2: In his spare time, he paints on a canvas. His art style consists of both surrealism and abstract art. For a person with a dark personality, his compositions always contain bright colors and abstract techniques that leave you wondering about his TRUE personality. He is truly a good man with a bright personality but after being abused for so long, those behaviors/personalities have been shoved so far down his throat that they may not come back up.
He has a bad habit of asking you what you thought about every single piece of art you passed. The conversations were great but this is a date after all. The playful conversation slowly turns into a lecture about art. Although you loved your bf’s dictionary-like brain it also drained your energy.
One of his favorite artists is Vincent Van Gough. Although he favors surrealism, Van Gogh’s art style was mind-blowing to him. So amazed that he buys several Van Gogh t-shirts from the gift shop.
His favorite piece created by Van Gough is “Starry Night”.
He notices that you are becoming bored and decides that it is time for MORE excitement, one that you are certain to enjoy.
“Where are we going,” you ask, pretending to be interested.
“Down to the basement. We are going to have a bite to eat.”
Since Illumi rarely smiled, when he did smile it drove you wild. The anticipation of what his next move was going to be is what drove that wildness. Being a bounty hunter was thrilling already but dating a smart, badass assassin was totally out of your league but it worked out.
Headcanon 3: Illumi’s idea of being romantic is dramatically different from yours. He believes just spending time with you on the couch was enough. He is correct; but if you have the time and funds, your time together should be a little spontaneous. You insisted on dates outside of the house because his family will not stay out of your business.
“Illumi, I am too hungry for more trivia.”
He chuckles. “Don’t worry. So am I. That is why I’ve decided to take you to a wine and cheese party.”
Huh? Wine and Cheese at 3PM? That’s ok. When was there a time limit on when you can drink alcohol?
Illumi has indirectly attended parties as such when he was 15 years old. He never drank, but he watched as his mother’s friends (surprisingly) talked about business and their children. This time, you weren’t going to talk about business for once. Instead, you two were going to actually talk about what couples discuss.
Headcanon 4: When introduced to alcohol for the first time, Illumi immediately stated how he hated brown liquor. That includes Hennessy, Jack Daniels, etc. It makes him sick to his stomach. He prefers to drink Smirnoff mixed with fruity drinks like strawberry or pineapple.
He loves it when you make these drinks for him on a summer day.
Hence the title wine and cheese, you both go to a stand-up table, place your brochures down, and actually have a wonderful conversation not involving work or hunting.
Illumi smiled a few times, more than usual. Whenever he appears to be softer even around you, that is because he has mellowed out and doesn't have the overbearing weight of his family on his shoulders. You set him free.
Hisoka
According to a one-shot that another manga artist created, they expressed that Hisoka was found on the side of the road, was taken in by someone that worked at a local circus, and learned Nen in a matter of days. Hisoka’s clown look and having the skills of a magician proves that this has to be canon in some way.
Headcanon 1: Given this potential backstory, going to a carnival is his go-to every summer. He wants to take you to a circus but saves that for you as an engagement gift.
Everyone with a heart knows that whether or not you’re in a relationship or not the carnival is fun as hell! Expensive fried food, elephant ears, funnel cake, ICEE’s, rides, and stuffed animals are to die for!
Being at a carnival relaxes him so his bloodlust isn’t activated unless someone bumps into him and causes a scene.
Headcanon 2: PDA is something that Hisoka does well; he doesn’t overdo it but does it enough where people get the impression that you are a couple and aren’t “best friends”.
While completing a mission depending on how rough it may be, he insists that you tag along to see how he handles the situation. You’ve already seen his ruthlessness from Hunter’s exam but he insists.
His sense of pride gets the best of him sometimes. Sometimes his head is so big that it reminds you of a large birthday balloon.
Headcanon 3: ANYWAY, given his nature, he is very adventurous, dangerous, and courageous. If he wants to go on the Demon Drop, he’ll do it and you DO not have a choice in the matter. He’ll tease or guilt trip you into doing something that you would not like to do.
“Well, you wouldn’t want me to cling on to someone else, would you?”
“No. Of course not,” you reply.
“Let’s go then, scaredy-cat.”
As a hunter, you’ve seen worse. Why are you so afraid to go on a ride?
Headcanon 4: At apple orchards, cornfield mazes are one of his favorites. You cannot for the life of you figure out how to get out but he can. He grabs a scarecrow and scares you from behind. That annoys you but is nothing compared to later on that night.
Oh. My. God. It’s haunted house time!
“Hisoka, I’m not going in!”
“Why not? I’ll protect you.”
“Because they’re monsters and I already have to deal with one.”
It took him a second to catch on that you were talking about him.
“That’s going to bite you in the butt, kitten.”
Headcanon 5: Like Killua, Hisoka has a sweet tooth. Don’t allow his buff appearance to fool you!
He LOVES caramel apples, elephant ears, funnel cake, freshly squeezed lemonade, fudge, and cotton candy. How can this man manage to stay in shape? The world may never know.
Headcanon 6: He isn’t one to play by other people’s rules but he sets his own rules with your relationship that you both must obey. One of those rules says that neither of you can be on your phones while together.
Headcanon 7: Hisoka insists that you both wear either matching pants or matching shirts to avoid unnecessary flirtation.
He isn’t jealous but on “us time”, he doesn’t want to lose a single second.
Headcanon 8: Hisoka only jumps in when necessary. Given that you’ve passed the hunter’s exam and work as a bodyguard, he knows you can handle your business. If the person can’t take a hint, then he steps in. They almost back up immediately considering Hisoka is towering over them.
When the moon shines, you both go to the car and off to sleep in your comfy king-sized bed.
Chrollo
We all know that Chrollo loves to read! What does he specifically like to read? What Genre? Does he like to read alone or with other people?
Although Chrollo is a thief and must be hidden in the shadows, the authorities have called off the search for him for at least 3 years. Slowly but surely, he begins to find himself in the outside world again.
Chrollo once discussed a book with the Phantom Troupe when they were being transported to another place for a mission. He read “Tears of a Tiger” by Sharon M. Draper.
The reading sessions are opened with an affirmation and a reason to be thankful to be alive. He says he is thankful for the troupe, glances at you, and smiles. No one catches on to that sly face except for Phinks.
Headcanon 1: Chrollo is very silent and shy to an extent. He only associates with people he knows and trusts. You are the social butterfly at this moment.
Chrollo tags along behind you like a shy child, holding your hand while you stick out your free hand to greet everyone.
Today, the book club was going to read “Divergent”.
Headcanon 2: Although he loves to read, he hates it when others read out loud. Most people are drably read and it annoys him. After a while, he takes over. Chrollo was tense the first 30 minutes of the meeting because two cops were there but neither of them noticed it was him.
Headcanon 3: Chrollo often acts the part of the character that he is reading in the book. His tone, attitude, and emphasis on certain words keep the group engaged. He is complimented on his acting!
“Good Job, honey,” you whisper.
He responds by tightly squeezing your hand.
His tone was so impressive that the host insisted that he read for the entire night. He was ok with that because in between reads he was often distracted by a lovely pair of jeans and shoes you had on. You were into writing, so hearing others read and act out the characters helped.
Headcanon 4: In some settings, Chrollo is very braggadocious. He insisted that the group read one of your stories so you could be provided with feedback.
“We’d be delighted to view your story, y/n!”
“It will be fun!”
The book club wasn’t a stereotypical club that only consisted of soccer moms but instead consisted of men and women who were involved with a business, law enforcement, health, etc. This was an open space for everyone to relax and forget about their demanding jobs.
After the meeting, the group went to dinner at a nearby pizzeria. You all enjoyed large pizzas, beer, salads, and dessert. How could your stomach (or anyone’s stomach) hold that much?
Chrollo laughed so much that it made you question if he was your actual boyfriend or not. He even engaged in conversations with the two off-duty cops! For once, you helped Chrollo experience the greater things in life; true love, friendship, and happiness.
“Thank you,” he whispered and slyly placed a kiss on your hand. “For everything.”

BlackHeart Bakery
Who says Halloween can’t be romantic?
Pairing: Emo! Jungkook x Reader
Word Count: 3.7k
Genre: fluff
A/N: HI OMG IM SO SORRY THIS IS LATE. I love you, I hope you like it. I’m sorry it isn’t longer but, I still can’t wait for you to read it.
-you never imagined that the quirky lil bakery down the street from your university would change your life
-But it did
-“Omg shut up, you’re so dumb.”
-“Rawr xD”
-“Did you just say rawr xD out loud??? That totally defeats the purpose of its existence...”
-“Don’t cite the deep magic to me witch, I was there when it was written.”
-“And now you’re quoting the chronicles of narnia- alright just go back to sleep you big dummy...”
-“Mmm but you married a big dummy so what does that say about you”
-“Jungkook don't spoil it oh my god!”
-“Like they don’t know what’s coming already- spoiler alert losers! I get the girl.”
-“I hate you...”
-“Mm yeah- I love it when you talk dirty to me baby. The last time you said that- we ended up fuc-“
-“Ok! That’s enough! Our story begins...”
-Jungkook’s bakery was quite famous around your city
-If people didn’t come for the gaudy Halloween decorations
-They came for the music
-Exclusively pop punk, if you’re wondering
-It was like 2009 everyday
-Which was comforting, considering the world has gotten a little
-Tricky
-Since then
-But anyways
-If they didn’t come for the music or the decorations
-They came for the AMAZING espresso
-And the spooky themed treats
-But if you’re being honest
-You think the main thing that keeps them coming back
-Is Jungkook
-If his sweeping black hair didn’t get you
-Or the adorable cheeky twinkle in his eyes
-It was the tattoos and the piercings
-He looked like he walked right off of a black veil brides music video set
-He was hot
-This was obvious
-But he didn’t seem to think so
-You had come to the conclusion that he was oblivious
-he shoved his feet into his big black doc martens every morning
-Slipped on his beaded bracelets and studded chokers
-Pulled his fall out boy t-shirt over his
-Massive
-Tattooed
-Biceps
-And just thought hm
-I’m pretty average I guess (lol)
-That’s a direct quote from him btw
-Men truly are hopeless
-Jungkook opened the bakery two years ago
-He had mentioned to you that he had saved up money from his 3 part time jobs to put a down payment on the building
-Which was wedged between a sex shop
-And a thrift store
-And honestly his bakery
-Blackheart Bakery, if you’re being specific
-Fits right in
-Jungkook refuses to hire new staff
-“They won’t do it right.” He whined to you one day
-“One time I tried to hire this guy and he put the sugared googly eyes on the cookie skeletons ALL WRONG”
-“How do you put googly eyes on wrong?” You had giggled
-“you just do- i- See? This is exactly why I can’t hire anyone...”
-You had started chewing on the end of your pencil in the midst of your laughter
-It was an unconscious habit
-And it makes Jungkook shift uncomfortably, his hands moving off of the top of your table
-“Don’t do that...” he had muttered, smirking to himself as he walked back behind the counter
-he did that a lot
-He’d mutter something
-Mildly flirtatious under his breath and then
-Just walk away
-It was quite confusing
-But honestly you had a feeling he was just a filrty person
-You certainly weren’t the only girl he smirked at
-Not that you pay attention
-Ok
-Maybe you do
-Kinda
-Pay attention
-but it’s not your fault!!!!
-You just
-Can’t help but feel a little jealous
-You kiiiiiinda have a little thing for him
-Ok
-Maybe it’s a big thing
-Maybe it’s a massive
-Gigantic
-Towering
-Crush
-But look at him!!!
-You simply couldn’t be blamed
-It was his fault
-Yep
-That’s what you’re going with
-It was Jungkook
-And his tight t shirts
-His ripped jeans
-His dangly earrings
-His tattoos
-His big
-Stupid boots
-Ugh ok
-Focus
-You have work to do
-The whole reason you began coming to Jungkook's cafe was so you -could find a consistent place to study for your exams
-You were in school to become a teacher :)
-And teachers have to study very very hard
-Educating the youth is no easy feat
-Jungkook had asked what you were studying during the first week you arrived at his spooky house of baked goods
-“Oh I’m an education major”
-“Ahh so you’re getting an education about...education.” He concludes
-“I love it.”
-“So meta.”
-“Are they educating you on the disparities between impoverished children and wealthier children?”
-His wide eyes were brimming with genuine curiosity
-You kind of got a kick out of how candid he was about such heavy conversation topics
-“Not as much as they should be but, I’m actually writing a paper on a similar topic right now...”
-This caused a brilliant grin to come over his face
-It was almost blinding really
-And it made your heartbeat all wonky
-“Of course you are. You look smart like that...”
-He had backed away from your table then, seemingly satisfied
-Had you passed the vibe check?
-“I’ll leave you to your paper.” He nodded to your laptop but as he walked away, he pivoted back towards you on and the heel of his combat boot, “welcome to Blackheart Bakery by the way, let me know if I can get you anything.”
-Another brilliant smile is sent your way
-“Thank you.” You had smiled back, sending a tiny wave his way
-Which in turn, made HIS heartbeat all wonky
-You’re cute
-Like really cute
-And despite how often it may seem like his eyes are elsewhere
-They are ALWAYS on you
-Every chance he gets he is glancing your way
-Smirking to himself at how endearing you are
-Brow furrowed
-Lips pouted in concentration
-Completely oblivious to his gaze
-He has to remind himself to look away
-He doesn’t want to be a creep
-“Creepy men deserved to get kicked in the teeth...”
-He’s said this to you before when another patron had made you uncomfortable
-Jungkook kicked him out immediately
-“If you don’t leave, I’ll have no choice but to kick you in the teeth. One, because I can’t compromise my personal philosophy and two because you’re making my favorite customer uncomfortable.”
-Oh look there goes your heartbeat again
-WONKY
-The guy leaves in an angry rush, flipping Jungkook off in the process
-Saying something about leaving a bad Yelp review
-He doesn’t care tho
-He definitely doesn’t want to be a creep
-You’re just so
-Pretty
-Ugh
-He rolls his eyes at himself behind the espresso bar
-The latte in front of him neglected
-In need of a bit of foam
-“Focus Jeon, she’s just a chick...”
No wait
-“She’s just a woman. A woman who I respect, like I respect all women...”
-He’s been watching a lot of feminist theory on YouTube
-He likes staying educated
-And also fuck the patriarchy
-The man waiting for his drink has arched a brow at this point, wondering if his barista has lost his mind
-“Uhhh medium...” he checks the cup for his awful hand writing, “ghostly toasted marshmallow latte!”
-“Thanks.” The guy mutters, throwing a judging look Jungkook's way
-He gives him a lazy salute as the guy struts away with a briefcase in tow
-“Thaaanks.” Jungkook mocks him, his face scrunching up in annoyance
-Stupid man
-With his stupid briefcase
-As Jungkook is pulling out a batch of cream cheese frosting stuffed pumpkin muffins
-Or as Jungkook calls them
-PUNK-in Muffins
-Movement at the counter catches his eye
-is that
-”oh shit...” He grunts, hastily wiping his hands on his apron and rushing over to the counter
-normally he would meander
-stroll
-or even slump to greet any new guests at this hour
-and by this hour
-he means 45 minutes before closing
-Jungkook’s bakery is open til midnight on weeknights
-9pm on Sundays
-and 3am on Saturdays (for the culture of course, gotta keep it spooky)
-tonight happens to be a Friday night and the person awaiting his assistance is
-you
-”You’re still here?” He gawks, the black polish on his nails glimmering as he punches in a few keys on the register
-You offer him a tired and slightly amused smile, “No. Y/N died around 4:30, you’re speaking to her ghost. Please leave your message after the tone.”
-Jungkook cracks a smile, his palms resting on flat on the counter, “Do ghosts check their voicemails?”
-“Oh of course not but, I will be checking yours because you have access to caffeine.”
-Jungkook laughs
-no...he giggles
-and it’s fucking cute
-but you digress
-“I feel like I should cut you off...this is your 4th latte; I’m pretty sure you’re 80% caffeine at this point...”
-“Noooo, don’t do that.” You whine slumping against the counter, “I just need to finish this one page...”
-He quirks a brow as he scribbles something on your cup, unimpressed with your statement, “You said that three hours ago. I’ll make you another one but I’m not putting an extra shot in.”
-Your face turns up in protest but he click his tongue against his teeth , shaking a manicured finger at you
-“Ah ah- nope. I don’t want to hear it. You either take that or I’m making you a hot chocolate and shutting the buildings power off.”
-With a dramatic sigh, you concede
-“Ugh fine. Here-” You go to hand him your debit card but he shakes his head
-“Put that away.”
-You want to protest but given the fact that he’s made the rules thus far during this interaction, you doubt you’d be able to stop him.
-A smile appears on your face then, appreciative of his generosity
-“Thank you.”
-He merely grins, waving you off before rolling up the sleeves of his black Blink 182 shirt
-as soon as his tattoos are out
-all the moisture leaves your mouth
-you try your hardest not to stare at him
-expertly, he eases the espresso shots into the milk, tongue poking between his lips in concentration
-and you
-being sleep-deprived
-and a little loopy
-decide to
-flirt????????
-if you could even call it that
-which you could but you shouldn’t
-“For the record, when I finally dig my way out of this of mountain of death I’m stuck in, I will definitely take you up on that hot chocolate...”
-Jungkook’s brow quirks at the tone of your voice, his hands suddenly itching with nerves
-was that
-was that flirty?
-should he flirt back?
-“My hot chocolate is legendary. You won’t be disappointed.” His lips display a small grin as he places the lid atop your finished latte, “Also mountain of death is a great name and I WILL be stealing it.”
-You giggle
-again
-“and I WILL be suing you for copyright.”
-He laughs now, wiping up the bit of milk he spilled
-the sinewy muscles in his forearm tensing and untensing
“Good luck getting me to show up to court.”
-and that’s kinda how it was between you and Jungkook
-for like six months
-it was a little bit flirty but never anything to push either over you over the edge.
-and speaking of being on edge
-recently, you had gone from vacationing in your timeshare on the edge
-to signing a 35 year mortgage contract
-4 bedrooms
-2.5 bathrooms
-of pure
-unrelenting
-stress
-you could feel it in the middle of your back
-shoving itself up between your shoulder blades
-your body seemed to ache with it
-the worst part being
-it was Halloween
-You should be out with your friends, having fun
-wearing itchy costumes and drinking sugary drinks
-but instead, your headed towards the bakery to work
-Jungkook was behind the counter, smiling happily at a family dressed like the cast of scooby doo
-from what you could see he was wearing a skeleton onesie
-his jet black hair tousled perfectly above his head
-he looked adorable
-(and hot)
-He notices you instantly, his face turning up in surprise
-you offer up a small wave and head over to your table
-you know he’s going to say something about you being there but
-you don’t really have much of a choice
-this work has to be done
-it takes him a second to spot you but when he does
-he seems to perk up
-his smile brightening as he looks back towards his customer
-as you’re setting everything up, you feel a presence (not the spooky kind) at the end of your table
-it’s Jungkook and he has your regular order in one hand, along with something wrapped in skeleton-patterned parchment paper
-“I know, I know.” You acknowledge before he’s even able to chide you for being here
-He smirks “What are you doing studying on the holiest day of the year??”
-You giggle
-“The holiest day of the year huh?”
-“Of course. Halloween is the one night a year that the homies can dress like total -sluts and no one can say anything about it.”
-This makes you giggle again
-“And you went with slutty skeleton huh? I love it- it’s like as naked as you can possibly get.”
-He chuckles, gesturing to his costume
-His floppy black hair getting in his face
-“Damn right baby.”
-The way he grins tells you the pet name is a joke
-But the deepening of his voice gets to you anyway
-“Thank you for this. I promise I’ll get out of your hair early tonight.”
-“The only thing I’m worried about getting out of my hair is this white spray paint. You’re welcome to stay as long as you want.”
-He’s put a streak of white spray paint in his raven locks
-Why? You’re not certain
-Does it look good on him, like everything else does?
-Absolutely
-Its been a few hours since your night of studying began
-Jungkook’s dropped off two free lattes since you’ve arrived
-As well as a slice of his ‘I write cinnamon not tragedies’ bread
-Which was equally hilarious and delicious
-You caught him glancing over at your table a few times but you didn’t think anything of it
-He’s probably just checking to make sure that no one needs your table
-His bakery is packed most nights but Halloween is a special night at Blackheart Bakery
-He has a trick or treat counter set up with free (homemade) candy
-A photo op complete with a fake haunted house backdrop
-A Halloween playlist
-And a bunch of discounts on his signature lattes and food
-you watch him amongst the chaos
-He is completely unfazed
-He seems elated at the amount of customers he has
-he grins and laughs at something a man dressed like Thor says at his counter
-he seems entirely in his element
-you realize that the denial tactics you’ve been trying out haven’t been working
-because this floppy haired, tattooed, slutty skeleton/baker kind of has a hold on your heart
-you’ve been friends for a long time now
-he always makes sure you’re taken care of
-he always asks if you’re ok
-he always gives you this little grin
-it feels like a secret sometimes
-but maybe it’s been his way of letting you know where he stands
-he’s been bringing you lattes and pastries for months now
-he never charges you full-price
-he always reminds you not to work too hard
-he
-fuck
-he likes you doesn’t he?
-you look back over at the counter to see him bending over and handing a skeleton cookie to a little girl dressed like Captain Marvel
-he laughs at something she says
-his eyes focused entirely on her and whatever she seems to be proclaiming to him
-your heart goes wonky again
-alright
-enough is enough
-you’re doing this
-Jungkook’s done so much of the work thus far
-it’s time for you to seal the deal
-and if he rejects you, well…
-you can just crawl into a hole and never come out again
-easy peasy
-You can feel his eyes on you as you get up to take your place in line
-luckily there isn’t anyone else behind you
-rejection with an audience would certainly be worse
-Jungkook has his witty comment ready for you as you approach the register
-“I know for a fact you haven’t finished your third latte and I’m not making you another one until-“
-“I’m not here for another latte.” You laugh, trying to ignore the thrashing of your heartbeat
-“No? Well, are you finally going to try my Welcome to the Blackened Chicken Parade Burger then? I’ve been asking you for like three weeks…”
-god he’s fucking cute
-“I’m here to ask you out.”
-Jungkook swears he feels his heart stop
-“You’re here to…”
-He repeats the first part of your response as his he didn’t hear you
-his black fingernails anxiously tapping against the countertop
-“I’m here to ask you out- on a date.”
-Jungkooks face seems to go through various stages of confusion before a shy smirk presents itself on his pretty mouth
-“Me? You’re asking me-“ He places a hand on his chest, “-out on a date?”
-“Yes!” You laugh, slapping the counter a bit too hard, your nerves getting the best of you, “Are you down?”
-He shakes his head but his answer contradicts his movements
-“So down, beyond down. There is no one on Earth who is more DOWN than I am. Yes. My answer is yes. 50000% yes.”
-you can’t help the smile on your lips
-“great. So are you free next Friday then?”
-He grins with his teeth this time, nodding emphatically
-“Consider the shop closed.”
-and so it was
-you returned to your table moments later
-feeling on top of the world
-you did it
-you asked Jungkook out
-and he said yes
-and now you
-NOW YOU HAVE A DATE WITH JUNGKOOK
-LOOK AT YOU GO
-TAKING CHARGE
-you try your best to engage with your studies but with Jungkook on your mind
-its really hard
-roughly two hours later, things at the bakery have finally started to slow down
-Hey uh- Y/N?”
-Jungkook's voice that pulls you out of your studying trance
-he’s standing at the entrance of his back room, waving you over with his hand
-and who are you to deny him?
-you make your way over there, annoyed at the instant increase in your heartrate
-he stands awkwardly to the side and gestures to the boxes on the metal rack
-“I just remembered that I’ve never given you a tour of the place. I give all my regulars a tour of the stockroom and my office and uh-”
-he cuts himself off and clumsily cups your cheek
-he pulls you into a kiss
-a really good kiss
-his lips are so warm
-he smells like cinnamon
-you could literally die happy
-The ridiculous nature of his first attempt to kiss you, makes you giggle into his mouth
-you feel him smile, his hands smushing your cheeks together as he pulls away
-“Ok I lied. There is no tour. I’ve just been watching you focus on your computer for the last two hours and you’re just really fucking cute and-”
-this time, it’s you who cuts him off
-“You better give me an actual tour next time. How else am I going to steal your secret recipes?”
-he scoffs in mock offense
-“Ah ha! So that’s the only reason you asked me out huh? Should I be calling you Plankton instead of Y/N? Ew no wait- that would make me Mr. Krabs and he’s a dirty capitalist...”
-You laugh, “Oooh good point. Guess you’ll just have to be Karen, my computer wife.”
-This makes him laugh now and the sound warms your soul
-“I could live with that- I like your last name better anyways.”
-with another kiss, your adventure with the emo baker of your dreams begins
-It may have been Halloween but it sure felt like Christmas to you

Choose Me Instead II Draco Malfoy x Reader II Chapter 5 of 27: You
Summary: Pretending to be in a relationship with Draco Malfoy to get back at your ex might have not been the smartest idea you ever had. Especially during your last year of Hogwarts where you should be focusing on exams and your future plans. However, you were just pretending. There was no way in hell you could actually catch feelings for someone like Malfoy. … Right?
CHAPTER 4
A/N: A chapter from a different perspective! I hope you all like it <3 And thank you so much for your support!! I love you all so muuuuuch!!!
Words: 2300 Pairing: Draco Malfoy x female!Reader, post-war Warnings: none
Draco Malfoy wasn’t easy to impress. Being bored quickly by other people was one reason why he never had many close friends – and yes, he knew how utterly arrogant that sounded. It was the truth however. He was friendly with most of the Slytherins but his mother always taught him “Quality over quantity” and he agreed. Draco went so far as to apply that mindset to his love life as well. Yes, before the sixth year of school, he used to like to flirt and he had dated the occasional Slytherin girl. He was also very aware of the fact that there had been quite a few girls with crushes on him. In some cases, he even reciprocated them, however, those feelings faded quickly.
So you couldn’t imagine how much it bothered Malfoy that he wasn’t able to stop thinking of you. Not even in his dreams did you leave him alone and so he kept on going back to that evening on the Quidditch field. Until today, it was entirely unclear to him why he told you all those things. He didn’t know anything about you yet speaking to you left him feeling … good, almost. After a year of trials and coming home to find his family and life in shambles, there was no one left to talk to. No one he wanted to talk to. To whom was he going to turn? His friends which were all coming from the same pureblood Death Eater families? Yes, of course, they understood – and also they didn’t. Not quite. Did you understand him? Probably not, he guessed. After all, you were a Gryffindor and fought on the right side of the war. The winning side. But talking to you felt different, almost easy. You grew up in another world than him and maybe that was the key to it all.
Obviously, Draco didn’t plan on repeating that evening. You were friends with the whole Potter and Weasley bunch. It made it even harder to trust you – how could he be sure you hadn’t already told your Gryffindor friends and were laughing about him behind his back? It was possible. A part of him didn’t want to believe this possibility and another part reminded him of all the times he was disappointed and got hurt by the people around him. It was probably for the best to stay away from you.
Yet he didn’t stop thinking of you. He saw you looking at him in the Great Hall during meals, watched you from walk away when you passed him in hallways and the library. Without noticing it, he always chose a place behind you in class. Draco didn’t understand the urge to be close to you. It was utterly ridiculous for Merlin’s sake. You were a Gryffindor; one of the good ones. He wasn’t. Not at all.
Maybe it was because of the kiss, he wondered at some point. Maybe you hexed him in this moment. Draco knew this theory was very far-fetched but it was the only logical explanation fin his mind. Why else would he keep thinking back to that moment in the storage room? He didn’t deny that you were witty and smart and very beautiful – he wasn’t blind after all – but so were lots of girls. What the hell was so special about you that you wouldn’t leave his thoughts?! It couldn’t be your taste in men as you obviously didn’t have any. At least there wasn’t a reasonable explanation for him for why someone like you would get with someone like the Weasel.
“Draco,” Blaise’s voice pulled him out of this thoughts. “You coming?”
Draco nodded. “Yeah, just a second.”
He got up from the table in their shared dorm, putting his notebook in the drawer of his nightstand. Two months since school started and he had almost filled in all of its pages. Draco started writing during the first trial of his parents last year. It kept him focused and helped him put his thoughts in order. It soon became a daily ritual which helped him stay grounded. Draco carried it around in his bag during the day, using it in between classes and meals. His friends caught him doing it a lot and he was sure they had already guessed what it was. He was glad when they didn’t say anything because in the end, Draco would have rather died before admitting that he was using a diary.
“You’re not wearing a costume!”, Astoria exclaimed when he joined the others in the common room. Pansy, Blaise, Theodore and the Greengrass sisters were already waiting for him.
There was a Halloween party happening in the Room of Requirements tonight and his friends had convinced him to go even though it meant more awkward conversations with Astoria.
“I thought we’re not doing muggle traditions. What are you supposed to be?”, he asked instead, taking in her revealing outfit.
She giggled. “I’m a healer. Or ‘nurse’ as the muggles call it.”
“Ah,” Draco made, thinking that she didn’t look like a healer at all. “I thought Halloween was supposed to be scary?”
Astoria rolled her eyes, before linking their arms with each other. “You’re no fun. Don’t you think I look pretty?”
“Astoria, you can wear a potato sack and still look absolutely stunning.”
That answer seemed to satisfy her and they started making their way towards the exit of the common room. Draco glanced at her from the side. She was, objectively speaking, the perfect match for a Malfoy. Coming from a well-respected and wealthy pureblood family combined with her intelligence and beauty, she was everything his parents could have wanted for him. Especially now.
You had told him what to do. It was such a simple solution to all of his impending problems. However, it had been the moment where Draco had realized that you grew up differently. Not a day went by where he didn’t receive a heartbreaking letter from his mother. He knew, she just wanted the best for him and she didn’t want to manipulate him; she was simply desperate. Desperate for the live they used to have – a husband at home, a son with a promising future, money and a respected place in society.
Draco had asked himself countless times what the marriage would truly mean. His family would have another chance. Together with Astorias family, his future was secured. A good job, maybe even in the ministry if he was lucky. Enough money to take care of his mother. Who knew, maybe his father would be out of Azkaban sooner? Draco marrying Astoria would lessen his families suffering, that was for sure. But did he want that? Did he want a simple and easy solution to make their past crimes … disappear? His family was far from innocent. They had committed horrible crimes in the name of the Dark Lord – and a part of him knew, they deserved everything they got in the end. Hell, he wouldn’t have been surprised if they sent his mother and him to Azkaban as well.
When thinking about the engagement, another thought popped into his head. Could he learn to love Astoria? Would he be happy with her? Maybe. Maybe not. Draco knew only one thing for sure – there was a reason why he kept resisting to the whole idea. Giving in felt like sacrificing another part of himself to something his family had burdened him with.
“And Astoria, I disagree,” Blaise once again disrupted his train of thought by joining in from the right. “Draco can quickly make his costume appear. Just roll up your sleeves, Dray, and the Gryffindors will shit their pants on the spot.”
The rest of the group snickered but Draco didn’t react. Instead he suppressed the urge to touch the mark on his left arm and shoved his hand deeper into the pocket of his pants.
***
The Room of Requirement was absolutely crowded.
The Slytherins were surprised by how many people had actually appeared. Almost everyone from the sixth and seventh grade was here, wearing mostly ridiculous costumes. Music roared from invisible speakers, students were dancing and talking loudly.
“I’m surprised that the teachers didn’t already break this up,” Blaise almost had to shout. “Or Filch.”
Draco shrugged. “I feel like they stopped caring this year.”
“Maybe they feel responsible for all those deaths,” Theo suggested.
“So to make up for all the trauma, they allow us to party?”, Blaise concluded with an amused undertone.
“It’s good for us though so stop talking and start drinking,” Pansy chirped and grabbed Draco and Theo by their arms, pulling them towards the table with a few questionable bottles.
When his friends started chatting about the usual Hogwarts gossip, Draco’s eyes started to wander. He was searching the crowd for someone. You. Were you here? Did you even like parties? Draco had no idea. You always looked quite social from what he witnessed.
And there you were – standing in a group of people, listening to Granger who was gesticulating wildly. You were holding a drink and laughing at whatever the other girl told you. Draco noticed from across the room how your eyes were gleaming, your face red from the alcohol. You looked so careless. He swallowed hard at the sight.
“He’s either staring at Weasley, the mudblood or Y/L/N,” Zabini said to the others in that moment. “Don’t know what’s worse.”
Draco needed a second to understand his friends were talking about him. “What did you just say?” He turned to them.
Zabini grinned widely at him. “I said, you’re staring at the Gryffindors again, Draco. It’s fucking weird. What’s your sudden obsession with them?”
Draco quickly glanced at the rest of his friends. Daphne, Theodore and Pansy watched the two of you with a smirk on their lips, maybe even suppressing a giggle. Astoria looked at Draco with a worried expression.
“No, what did you just say?”, Draco repeated his question, straightening up slightly. “What did you call Granger?”
Blaise snorted. “What?”
Draco just stared at him.
“I called her a mudblood,” Blaise gave a half shrug.
“Yeah, what the fuck, Blaise,” Draco spat out.
“Come on, Dray,” Theodore tried to intervene. “It’s no big deal.”
“It is!” He looked at him, visibly disgusted.
“What’s your problem, Draco?”, Blaise raised an eyebrow, shifting from one leg to another. “You called her a mudblood for years and now you suddenly have a problem with it? You’re acting so weird this year, seriously.”
Before Draco was able to reply, Astoria carefully placed her hand on his arm. It took all the strength he had, not to immediately shake her off. “Come on,” she said softly. “Let’s get you a new drink and calm down.” She pulled him a few steps away from the group.
Draco gritted his teeth, remembering what he had thought about not being able to talk to his old friends. They understood – and also they didn’t.
“Are you okay, Draco?” Astoria asked, still looking slightly alarmed.
Draco looked at her. Did she want to hear an honest answer? “Sure,” he finally said.
She didn’t buy it. “You’ve been acting strange for a while now.”
“I’m really not.”
“Draco,” she reached for his hand. “I know you.”
He sighed and rubbed his eyes with his free hand. “Can we … can we not talk about this now? Here? With all these people around us?”
“There’s always a reason not to talk so we might as well do it here,” she pressed on.
Draco could think of a thousand different things he’d rather do than talk to her right now. “I’m … I’m not acting strange. It’s just a lot. With my parents and all that.”
Her smile changed from worried to pity. “I understand.” Did she? “That’s why I think we should move on.”
What kind of weird reaction was this? “Move on?”, Draco frowned.
“With our engagement.”
“Right.”
Astoria squeezed his hand. “I don’t see why we can’t just make it official.”
Draco looked at her fingers as if he was searching for a ring that he had forgotten existed. “Because the whole thing isn’t official yet,” he slowly said.
The brunette let go of his hand. “It’s going to happen anyways. My parents won’t stop talking about it and I bet it’s no different for your mother.”
Draco just wanted to get out of this situation. He got dragged here and now it was just one big argument. Why couldn’t they have stuck to gossiping and partying? “Why during school though?”
He saw how Astoria stared at the ground for a moment. When she started speaking again, her voice had become a little colder. “You know, there are a lot of men who would jump at this opportunity. My family is well respected and yours is …”
Draco let out a short whistle. “Thanks, Astoria,”
Astoria was visibly uncomfortable and Draco wondered if she regretted what she had just said. “That’s not how I meant it and you know that, Dray. I just don’t understand why this takes you so long.”
Draco put his hands on hips, pushing his jacket back. “Excuse me if I’m wrong,” he started, “But I’m not exactly your first choice either, am I?”
The girl didn’t answer right away. When she did though, Draco wanted to laugh at the sheer absurdity. “It’s not about what I want. It’s about what my parents want. Pureblood marriages will happen less and less in the future so we will be a good union.”
“Right,” Draco mumbled with a sad smile. It’s all about the family.
Astoria cleared her throat. “Well, are there any reasons why we shouldn’t move on?”
“Yes, there are.”
This didn’t come from Draco or Astoria. Irritated by the sudden interruption, he turned around to see who had so rudely eavesdropped on the conversation.
You.

Soft Touches | Draco Malfoy x Reader Part One
Summary: When Y/N had first met Harry and Ron on the train, she would have never thought that that interaction would have led to years of adventures and near-death experiences. Throughout their time at Hogwarts, several things had become clear. First, there will be at least one thing that tries to kill you a year. Second, Draco Malfoy was Harry’s archenemy. Third, no matter how hard she tried, Y/N still had just as big a crush on the blond as the first day they met. Harry and Ron would never let her live that one down while Hermione was at least a little understanding. Y/N knew that some of the things that Draco had done were horrible, and she would probably never forgive him for the things he had said to Hermione. And yet, she still liked him.

As expected, being a fifth year student was far more stressful than anyone could have imagined. Not only did they have the O.W.L.s to study for, but ever since Umbridge had been brought on as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, you had to practically teach yourself if you wanted a proper defense theory. At this rate, a muggle would probably know more about defense against dark magic. Either you practiced on the weekends, which almost no one aside from Hermione did, or during free periods.
It was only a few weeks from Halloween and autumn was in full swing. The grounds were painted with trees that held an array of yellow, orange, and gold leaves and there was a strong smell of bonfire, hot cider, and butterscotch that wafted across the hills during the day. On late afternoons, when the air was crisp and the sky slightly darker than what it had been during the first month of term, the courtyards and hills near the Black Lake were the perfect places for students to relax.
Y/N was sitting on the sill of one of the arches that opened into the courtyard, writing in a leatherbound journal with her green quill when one of her textbooks slipped out of the opening of her bag and smacked onto the stone floor below. She had barely registered the sound when someone had reached down and picked it up, extending their hand to her. Y/N’s eyes followed the line up the owner of the hand’s toned arm until she had reached their face.
Instead of Draco’s usual sneer, there was no wrinkle between his brow, and his features were soft. Her hand slowly extended to meet his, and their fingers brushed against one another as she grasped the book. His startling blue eyes were veiled with an unreadable expression.
She was still too shocked to say anything, but the corner of her lips turned up slightly in a silent thank you. Draco stared for a few more seconds before his hand fell back down to his side and he turned, striding down the empty corridor. Y/N stared at his retreating figure. He wasn’t wearing his robes, despite the crisp chill that hung in the air, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, displaying his forearms and the distinct veins that ran across his skin.

It was nearly nightfall when Hermione had found her, still staring at the end of the corridor, deep in thought.
“Where have you been? It’s time for dinner, Harry and Ron have already started without us.” Hermione questioned softly. Y/N turned her head, looking a little dazed.
“I’ll tell you later tonight, in the dormitories.” Hermione tilted her head and smiled a little.
“Knowing you, you’ve probably been out here for hours. Come on, before Ron eats all the best parts.” She stretched her hand out and pulled Y/N from her seat. Together, they walked arm in arm to the Great Hall, taking in the setting sun through the tall window panes and the lingering chill that had swept over Hogwarts over the past few days.
It was getting colder, and the Winter recess was creeping closer day by day. As the two girls walked to the Great Hall, all they could smell as they walked through the open-air corridors was birch smoke coming from Hagrid’s hut and cold air. Y/N breathed deeply and sighed contentedly. She was convinced that there was absolutely nothing better than autumn at Hogwarts, and not even Professor Umbridge could spoil that.
The second they opened the door to the Great Hall, it was like being hit by a wall of warmth, light, and the wonderful smells of the banquet. Y/N finally snapped out of the haze she had been in all afternoon once she realized how hungry she truly was. Hurriedly, the two of them sat down on the bench across from Ron and Harry, both of whom were animatedly discussing the upcoming quidditch game against Slytherin. They were discussing different strategies to use, especially since the Slytherin team was notorious for cheating.
Y/N had joined the Gryffindor team as a Chaser only a year after Harry had and had experienced her fair share of Slytherin fouls to last a lifetime. Y/N caught sight of some serving platters and began serving herself along with Hermione.
“So what were you doing all day? I haven’t seen you since breakfast this morning.” Y/N asked as she filled the corner of her plate with mashed potatoes.
“Isn’t the answer obvious? She was in the library of course, where else would she be?” Ron interjected as he stole a roll of bread off of Hermione’s plate. Evidently he and Harry were done talking about quidditch, Ron had piled loads of food on his plate and Harry was stuffing chicken into his mouth. The two started to bicker until Ron shoved the entire roll into his mouth.
Y/N was watching amused as Ron tried to speak around the bread roll when a flash of blond hair caught her eye. Just over Ron’s shoulder, Draco was just beginning to sit down next to Pansy Parkinson who was absorbed in a conversation with Blaise Zabini who sat across from her. Draco and Y/N’s eyes met briefly before both of them shifted their gazes. Hermione paused for a moment, looking at Y/N and then to Draco before a subtle look of realization dawned across her face. Suddenly, she switched the conversation to their History of Magic paper that was due by the end of the week.
“What have you two chosen for your topics?” Hermione questioned, making Harry and Ron freeze. They obviously hadn’t chosen a topic yet, let alone begun writing.
“Erm, well… Here’s the thing Hermione-” Ron had begun stammering when Hermione cut him off.
“What is wrong with you? Professor Binns assigned this paper over two weeks ago!”
“I haven’t had time, I’ve had quidditch practice nearly every day and Snape hasn’t exactly eased up on Potions assignments, has he?” Harry defended himself, poking at a carrot on his plate and avoiding Hermione’s gaze.
“Harry, I’ve been at the exact same quidditch practices as you and I’m almost finished with my paper. I’m writing about Grindelwald’s rise to power. You need to find a topic and fast!” Y/N said pointedly. Ron sat up at the mention of Y/N’s topic. “And no, you cannot use that topic, pick something else!” Ron deflated once again.

They eventually finished their dinners, filed out of the Great Hall, and began heading towards Gryffindor Tower. Once they had finally entered through the portrait hole, Hermione grabbed Y/N by the crook of her elbow and pulled her up to their shared dormitories. Once she had shut the door behind them, she whirled around to face Y/N and pointed to her bed.
“Sit. We need to talk.” Hermione walked over and sat across from her. “What was that look that you gave Draco at dinner?”
Y/N looked down at her hands, an embarrassed flush across her cheeks. She was fiddling with the hem of her skirt and refused to look Hermione in the eye.
“Well, earlier today I was by myself writing in the courtyard, and I guess I must have knocked over one of my books because the next thing I know, Draco was just standing there, handing it to me. It felt like I was in a dream, he didn’t say anything, but he looked… different. I don’t really know how to describe it. He looked… soft, almost?” Y/N groaned and threw herself backwards onto the pillows, her legs hanging off the side of the bed. Hermione shifted so that she was lying next to Y/N and facing her.
“Okay,” she said carefully, “what does that mean exactly?”
Y/N paused for a moment in thought. What did it mean? Y/N had never thought about Draco in that way before, and the spark she felt when their fingers brushed together couldn’t have just been her imagination.
“I… don’t know. I don’t really know how to explain it. Whenever I start thinking about it, I feel this squeezing in my chest, like I can’t breathe properly.” Y/N closed her eyes and pictured Draco’s face once again. Hermione also seemed to be lost in thought, but those thoughts were most likely not about how handsome Draco looked with his hair pushed back and his sleeves rolled up. Hermione stretched her hand out and grasped Y/N’s hand.
“Well, I suppose it could be worse. It could have been Goyle handing your book back to you.” The two girls looked at each other before bursting into laughter. Goyle wouldn’t touch a book, let alone read one. In fact, it was unclear of whether or not he could actually read.
Once their laughter had died down and the two were sitting in comfortable silence, a thought dawned upon Y/N.
“You won’t tell Harry or Ron about this, will you? Knowing them, they’ll make a fuss about it and then never let me live it down.”
Hermione smiled in response.
“‘A fuss’ is a bit of an understatement. ‘What do you mean you fancy Malfoy?! He’s a git!’” Hermione’s impersonation was spot on and the two girls laughed once again.
The two girls then spent the next few hours talking about their classes, Y/N and Harry’s upcoming quidditch match, and making plans for their weekend in Hogsmeade. Y/N wouldn’t have to worry about Draco until the quidditch match, and that wasn’t for another 3 days. So for 3 days, Y/N would avoid him and distract herself with studying for midterm exams and Quidditch practice.
