So Shaw was originally a fantasy character—Shem—from a story idea I was bouncing around in 2016 that never took off, but I still liked his design and wanted to do something with him, which is how he got turned into a Starship Troopers fan oc early this year…then I reabsorbed him and tossed him into the WIP Universe and things took off from there! ✨ I’ve been wanting to redraw one of the fantasy version pics I drew of him for a while now, and it took a bitbto get the anatomy and face to look right (also working in between ArtFight attacks!!), so here he be!

listen I just kept looking and looking at the original linked up there going yknow I like this pic Hm it still looks fine maybe I should redraw it nah it still looks fine But Maybe, and then I finally just. decided to do it and Jesus christ IN MY OPINION the difference is like night and day?!?!?!?! I always find it so fun when I can’t actually notice art improvement until putting things side by side like I usually think anything from ~2016 onwards is passable until I redraw it lmAo GODDDDD

anyway yeah Umm the mood in my little internal world lately has been the Thanatos of millennia past and his reign of terror. Sorry to say that the three goddesses I talked about in my past post were only ever practice rounds in Thanatos’s eyes 😥 His target, the entire time, working his way through, was none other than… :( sighsghHh ohh nooooOOOOO

Because — haha oh— did you know they were best friends beforehand? Or at least Maci thought they were? While behind her back the entire time Thanatos was plotting and scheming? And she had no idea until it was too late? Well 🫠🫠 that’s— aaaaAAAAAHG-

1. Tumblr sexyman Bill Cipher alicorn. This is my only record of drawing bill cipher as a non triangle. I'm not sure I've ever drawn him as a human before like two days ago

2. Very very badly smudged monster falls au deeper. Poor guy barely survived idk what happened to this one. I can tell I pretty heavily referenced real deer pics for this. Goosefeather warrior cats from like 2017 is on the other side of this

3. I think these were vaguely guardian falls au related, I think that was my favorite au at the time. I Did Not know how to draw hands. There's a giant eyeball behind Mabel don't mind that

4. Cat Dipper and extremely extremely cursed unfinished cat Mabel. Dear God what is that. I think I couldn't figure out how to translate her hair to cat form which is why I gave up but I have zero explanations for why the face is like that. I'm so sorry Mabel

5. Mabel and Dipper as Night/Rain hybrids from wings of fire? Not sure why I headcanoned them as such

Anyways I've been looking through my old art and I still haven't found anything that A. I'm still interested in enough to draw again and B. looks like I can improve upon it but I'll keep going, I've been meaning to do a redraw of something from 2019 to 2021 but I fear that other than getting more comfortable with digital art not much has improved

Falling For You (2021 vs 2016)

So, for those who’ve been around for a while MAY recognize this pic. That’s because I did a redraw of the original! I made my own “anti” versions of H20Delirious and VanossGaming back in 2016. I wanted to redraw their versions, and kinda update their designs a bit.😆

Now, I’m not “BACK” to shipping these two. I just personally liked the old version, so I wanted to redraw it NOW. That’s all.😊💕

I finally made one of those again, and I wanted to share and actually tell you the whole story of my art since this is actually my 10th year of drawing, believe me or not :3 This is also actually the biggest audience I ever had and I’m so grateful for all of you, and for Obey Me! to stumble into my life because, you will see, I completely lost motivation and any ideas to actually draw in the years prior. I am so grateful for all that’s happened, and thank you for being here with me! I found friends here again that I wouldn’t give up for anything, they make me feel better about myself and what I do and I’m gonna cry on you. I love you ;A; Feel free to read through the rest I put them under the cut. But I’m really proud of what I achieved that year. I finally found my love for drawing again. DiaLuci gives me serotonin, I made some OCs that I love and that are the most detailed I ever made. And I also drew the most detailed pics I ever made, you can see under the cut how little backgrounds I drew, and now looking at this, I made one extremely detailed one each month. I had to figure out a style I enjoy again, which I luckily did, but I also still like to experiment and not stick to one thing, but I enjoyed trying out new stuff! I put more effort and detail in again, and I really hope I will keep this up even when I start work, I really hope I will! I’d be sad. I finally enjoy this again, I finally have ideas again. I’m feeling so much better, so thank you all for that!

I fist started drawing in 2011, when I was 12. I started since I joined the warriors fandom as my aunt gifted me one of the books and they had a like to an online forum that was handled by the publisher. So I signed up there with my parents permission obviousely. Don’t let any 12 year olds on other sites, thank you. I joined DeviantART when I was 13 and allowed to. I’m a good kid. But anyways, I drew a lot of animals, mostly cats and dogs thanks to that. I also drew a lot in the beginning, so many ideas and I had a few friends that supported me too, it was nice and made me want to keep going.

2012 was the same, and I still think the first few years when you start are the ones you have the highest spike in improvement. Still drew a lot each month, started to draw lots of chibis as well. I never really studied anatomy, only watching a few colouring tutorials. I just wanted to have fun.

I started to get better at colouring this year and started to add lots more datails and spend longer on the drawings, still drew lots and lots.

I’m still fully set on 2014 being the best year in my past, especially for colouring. I put so much effort into everything. But this was also the year where it went down. Some things happened online and I just started to lose interest as I left the fandom. I drew less and less, mostly only one-two things each month. Also since I barely had an audience I started to let that get to me which was stupid, I started to think why should I spend hours and hours drawing something none will look at anyways, so I looked for ways to make my colouring more simpler and put in less details again.

This started to be very noticeable in the year after that. I only had one picture to chose from each month, if at all. I just really started to loose motivation, especially with no ideas as to what to draw. Mostly OCs and occasionally some fanart for an anime that I like. Don’t ask me what October is supposed to be it was the only thing I made that month idk. 

2016 was a really bad year. I just didn’t know what to do with myself and my art anymore. I also started uni so that took some of my time, but not that much, during my holidays between end of school and beginning of Uni from July til October I also didn’t draw much. I only tried a lot of new things, simplifying and not being happy with anything that I made. Aside from November I don’t like any of those pictures. But as I sad, I was just lost and had no ideas anymore, I didn’t feel good about the things I made but I kept going, forcing myself to draw at least once in a while so I don’t completely forget how it works.

2017 I felt inspired again, making up that extremely colourful style that I adapted now again, it gave me serotonin and at least I liked what I was making again. I drew a lot more in the beginning of the year two, just enjoying slapping colour on everything. But I lost motivation pretty soon, I also felt kind of lonely now that I think about it, I wasn’t super sad but I didn’t really had anyone to talk to, breaking up with my toxic ass friends about half a year before school ended and I didn’t really find anyone in uni that I was close with. I just sat around after classes and watched anime until I dropped to bed pretty early everyday. I’m still proud of my very strict sleeping schedule, that happened mostly because I had no reason to stay up :D But anyways, there are a lot of month, strangely enough my big break months where I didn’t draw at all, I probably was too lazy and exhausted.

Best. Year. Of. Drawing. Peridot. Outdid myself. Very much art. So good. Had so many ideas, tried three new styles just to go back to the old one for the redraw because I wasn’t happy with them. So much improvement. It’s amazing how much I did that year. Idk. I probably was mentally dead and watched even more anime. Though I also did that in years I drew a lot. Idk. 

2019 was a lot better then the year before. I missed drawing but still didn’t have a lot of ideas. But I joined instagram for a short time and there were a lot of these “Draw this in your style” that provided me with ideas, and I really enjoyed doing those. I tried digital painting for the first time then and I’m still super proud of what I did in January. I also tried to work more with watercolour in this year. I spend more time and attention with colouring again, working and changing my style a bit. I still really like what I drew last year! I also have a weird obsession with eyeballs and I can fit three pairs on a face and it still looks okay, can you tell? I didn’t drew much this year but I like the quality I made I guess? Motivation ran out pretty quickly though, and that might be because I also did creative work for university so that could’ve played into it. And now off to 2021 :3

for the oc ask meme, who is your most recent oc and who was the first oc you made?

oh god, uh

i make new OCs like. daily, so.

my oldest, if we’re counting fandom ocs, would probably be Fox and his group from warrior cats, their kits who formed a “tribe” (group/clan) and end up joining thunderclan in an unfinished fic i wrote before i knew what fanfic was. (this was like, 2016?)

my newest is probably Marie Wily, a mega man archie comics oc and dr wily’s niece. she’s sweet but innocently compliant in wily’s evil, i credit @zosonils for helping me with her literally just this evening.

2016 vs 2020 Michiko Malandro

Wanted to do a redraw for the new year, and this has always been a pic that bothered me from how glaring the mistakes are. Thus, the challenge: redraw the pic in about the same amount of time as the first one. I also added the rule that I couldn’t do my usual lineart, it didn’t seem fair to my past self to do so when the original pic was a detressor drawing to begin with.

I appreciate that the newer drawing has more personality shining through. It’s like Michiko is stretching before kicking some ass.

Pic #1 - Infinity Fighters (2012) Ok so I’ve been drawing since kindergarten but this is one of my earlier drawings (that I’m willing to post). I drew this when I was 10 for a story I had in mind. I didn’t really have much plot for it or anything but I had some general ideas for the relationships between the characters and their abilities or dynamics to the group. The two animals by the girl with wings, tail and markings are all from another world..by all I mean the 3 by the way. I won’t go too into it since I might try to edit and revise my idea for this story but yeah. My poor boy Hector is in the bottom right and kinda cut off cuz the paper got damaged despite my efforts to preserve it in a plastic sleeve but it didn’t fit so oof. To be honest, Nadia was my favorite one to draw and the one that I’d say who turned out the best which made me especially happy since I named her after my cousin’s girlfriend since I really liked her name and figured it sounded like the name of a princess from some exotic land. Somehow though I had a hard time recreating her exact figure in the 2016 remake.

Pic #2 - Infinity Fighters (2016)

Ok so, I can’t really choose a favorite buuuut I’d have to say Sydney and Nadia are my least favorite because of how they turned out and I wish I could’ve done better but I plan on redrawing all of them at some point perhaps. In this one, it might not be noticeable at first but, I took out the recurring symbol that I had at least once on each character aside from Rena and Cartter (the animals that look reminiscent of a fan-made Pokemon or something which wasn’t my intention but the more I look at it the more I kinda see it). Anywho, I went for more realistic or slightly more interesting designs of what I was going for when I was younger which I’d say worked out pretty well for the most part. Oh, and in this one you can actually see Hector lookin’ like a Kyle with dat hair. His twin brother Chase is still somewhat staying the same. Also I’m still super proud of how Rena and Cartter came out in this version. I have another picture where I actually fused all of the characters together in looks and clothing and just fused the two animals together. Can’t find it rn but heads up, it’s kinda mostly Nadia but you can see parts and representations of some of the other characters.

it's been kind of an eternity since i last drew anything serious (aka not doodles in my notes), and i felt really inspired seeing these redraw challenges going around... I tried my hand at the sailor moon redraw thing and also at the madoka redraw one!! 

i kind of want to get more comfortable posting unfinished work on this blog.... I think i could also benefit from thoughts and some criticism? This one guy I sent the sailor moon one to said her eyes looked weird but without going into detail and i felt pretty confused by that hinvkrejnve

it's also just really funny to see how much my style has changed over the years!! i mean, i don't really have a set style yet (as you can see when comparing my madoka drawing to my sailor moon drawing) but it's starting to get more and more consistent and it is SO different from what it used to look like

for example drawing madoka really reminded me of another madoka drawing i did back in 2016, cause they're both front-facing and also the whole hair-in-the-wind situation:

they are so different!!! I guess I just started getting more into a like... semi-realistic style I guess? and i've learned to kind of detach myself from the pmmm style more.... also like the first sketch i did of that madoka redraw is HORRENDOUS, i think i was sticking too hard to the reference pic and it kinda messed my perception of proportions and all..... honestly idk what happened but it looks like shit, it looks terrifying, here you go:

considering this as my OoC engagement present to Chal & Bel, in redoing that linked pic that I have wanted to redo since the moment I drew it, i just had to wait until i generated enough art ability to actually accurately and tenderly illustrate the scene we were writing. FINALLY GOT IT!

godd many of u have been around since the early dayz of Chal’s entire adventures and have been following all the updates for literal years, and so maybe to you too it is also  absolutely insane to think that here now, years later after this took place -  like this convo was the convo that first made my personal shipping lightbulb go off, they werent even close to getting together then!!!!!! - that theyre about to get MARRIED????? fr fr almost teared up drawing this. i literally love them SO much

anyway i definitely could have made Chal’s hair look so much worse here but i GUESS it’s fine. Chal belongs to me; Bel, (and still that first quoted dialogue line), belongs to @fenixethekid!
