Can we have a little info on all the ones you haven't drawn yet, even the Maybe Canon? ones? There's a few there I don't recognize at all, and I'm curious.
Sure thing!
Not Drawn Yet:
The angont – a serpentine dragon from North East USA and Eastern Canada
The Australian rainbow serpent – exactly as the name implies. Rainbow serpent from Australia.
Chicken headed serpents – I didn’t know about this until I read @a-book-of-creatures excellent article on Crowing Crested Cobras. I need to actually research these myself, I read the article, thought “these are cool, I will add them to Dracones Mundi”, and then didn’t read/write/draw further (yet!!!!!).
The grootslang or ‘Great Snake’ is from South African folklore.
The kongomato, a winged dragon from the Congo.
The kurrea, a crocodile serpent from Australia
The makara, a creature like a crocodile mixed with an elephant from south Asian folklore: for Dracones Mundi I am making it a relative of the phaya naga.
The markupo is a large red-crested serpent from the Phillippines.
The ropen is a glowing, flying dragon from New Guinea – I might make it a relative of the glowtail in Dracones Mundi lore
Taniwha are water spirits from New Zealand – in Dracones Mundi I am making them a species of sea serpent
Wanizame or wani are sea dragons from Japanese folklore.
Vaguely planned dragons:
The Antarctic Jaculus – dragon I 100% made up, because I was bragging about how Dracones Mundi has ‘dragons all over the map’ and a little snide voice in my head said “what, even Antarctica?” and as Antarctica is not inhabited by people for most of the year it was difficult to find folkloric serpents, so I made up another sea-bird inspired dragon. Both cliffwyrms and Antarctic Jaculus have diving behaviours, which is why their inland cousin, the jaculus, evolved it's divebombing hunting strategy.
Butterfly winged serpent; very small winged serpent with butterfly wing patterns, 100% fictional with no mythology behind it (I mean. There is Pyrausta. But I think Pyrausta would be a different sort of animal, an actual insect, in the Dracones Mundi world, so butterfly winged serpents are not pyrausta)
Oceanic Turtle Dragon; I have the Asian turtle dragon, the European turtle dragon and the Congo Plated Dragon. Running around looking for folklore on ‘turtle dragons’ you end up stumbling into some fantastic artwork for Dungeons and Dragons involving their take on turtle dragons and something about a sea-turtle inspired dragon is really fun and cool. I will see if I can do something unique and different with this concept. If not, I will not be including the oceanic turtle dragon.
Pterosaur dragon; I made dinodrakes as dragons inspired by retro palaeoart of dinosaurs, and I thought “hmm. What if I did the same for retro pterosaurs?” – it turns out there’s a lot of cryptozoology in Africa I could research into for placing these pterosaur dragons somewhere on the map.
Snapdragons; snapdragon flowers need to be named after dragons, so I have a fun idea for a small cave dwelling dragon with petal-like frills and barbels that it uses to sense it’s environment. They also can emit an eerie blue warning glow from their mouths, not dissimilar to the glow of brandy on fire in the Victorian game ‘snap dragon’.

Note
Widespread misinterpretations, spreading misinformation, hivemind mentalities and mass harassment being presented as justified and literally normalised because it's against people who "deserve it"
Fandoms were a mistake and no amount of legitimately great fanworks will convince me they were ever worth all of this
Reject fandom
Embrace individual enjoyment of things
In theory we should strike the balance between "fandom made of me, my cousin and one person in Malawi for a product that came out 13 years ago" and "absolutely rancid megalopolis of toxicity and entitlement that cause legit psychic damage"
But it's hard. I struggle to think of a popular fandom where the quantity of assholes is negligible.
I do look out for nice fanart and if I feel bold even fanfic, but the objectively best situation is to befriend five or six chill people and then never leave that sacred circle :\

Happy 76th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.
Hayman, one of Scotland’s most acclaimed actors of stage and screen was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow on February 9th 1948.
David Hayman grew up as one of three children in a working class family in Drumchapel, Glasgow. Leaving school without any academic qualifications he started work as a would-be engineer at 16. One day, wearing his grease stained boiler suit, he marched into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and announced his intention to become an actor. He still has no idea where this came from, he is basically a shy person and there was no family history of acting. He took advice and joined an amateur dramatics group and a year later was accepted to study drama and has never been out of work since.
His film and television credits are, frankly, much too numerous to list but include his superb portrayal of hard man Jimmy Boyle in “Sense of Freedom” and, of course, he is recognisable everywhere as Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in Linda La Plante’s long running Trial and Retribution series. He has also starred in the hit Scottish cop drama Shetland as well as Scottish comedy shows Scotch & Wry, Rab C Nesbitt and Still Game.
Hayman has also directed numerous films and TV shows as well as regularly treading the boards in the Theatres.
Away from acting, David established his Glasgow-based charity Spirit Aid in 2001. It has gone on to become one of Scotland’s most successful small scale humanitarian organisations. He started Spirit Aid because he wanted to do a Scottish Live Aid at Hampden, but his rock stars let him down. “They were all, ‘Oh, man, I’m burned out,’ and I was thinking, ‘You’re sitting on your fat arse on your sofa with £40 million in the bank. Go and sit in a refugee camp in Afghanistan and tell me you’re burned out’. But I thought, I believe in this, I’ve got to keep going.”
He spends several months every year visiting his charity’s relief projects where he employs indigenous workers wherever possible. His fundraising operations include Operation Loo Roll, a project selling toilet paper that raised £100,000 in 2007. The charity undertakes humanitarian relief projects from Kosovo to Guinea-Bissau, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malawi and South Africa.
Hayman is a big campaigner for a Scottish film studio, which is looking like happening soon, he says “It takes the Americans to come in and build a shed where they shoot Outlander and that’s the nearest thing we have to a film studio, think of all the movies that we’ve lost, all the money that we’ve lost all the way back to Braveheart.”
David was recently in the fab comedy from Scottish director Michael Caton-Jones, Our Ladies, “set mainly in Edinburgh a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go to the capital for a choir competition, but they’re more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition” it is an adaptation of Scottish author, Alan Warner, of Morvern Callar fame’s third novel Sopranos, I read the book in the late 90’s it is a laugh out loud book, and the film is also very good.
Hayman was in an interesting film, My Neighbor Adolf, last year, which I haven’t got round to watching yet, set in 1960;s Brazil he plays a “lonely and grumpy” Holocaust survivor convinces himself that his new neighbour is none other than Adolf Hitler. We also saw him in the sequel Fisherman's Friends: One and All, both films get ratings of 6.2, and 6.4 on IMDB . I have just started a binge watch of Chemistry of Death, a Brit crime thriller series which is on Paramount plus. Last year David played a Chieftain in the Disney Star Wars prequal series Andor.
David won a top theatre award for his portrayal of northern Irishman, Eric, in the acclaimed play Cyprus Avenue last year, he has a couple of projects lined up, Jailbroken, an action crime thriller described as "the day before a violent criminal is due to be released from prison he receives a threatening call. Armed only with a mobile phone he must somehow save his family - and himself."And at the other end of the spectrumis a fantasy called Assassins Guild, "After the Mermaid Wars, Iliad's city is attacked by dark forces. With the city full of rancor and corruption, Death herself forms an alliance and offers Atticus, an elite fighter, the chance to return to life. This gift comes at a price."

Chapter 4
"So, Superman and Phantom were cloned?"
Batman didn't stop his work on the keyboard at any point, so with his eyes on the screen and detailing every word of the information acquired, plus the reports from the YJ group, he proceeded to respond to the curious Nightwing; who had just entered the Batcave only two minutes ago.
"Hnn..."
Nightwing removed his mask and proceeded to roll his eyes in annoyance. "Could you provide a few more than your usual onomatopoeia response" so many years and his mentor hadn't learned his lesson about using mumbles or grunts as a response.
"When I finish the report, you can read it," replied the big bat without turning back...
Dick looked grumpily up at the man, grabbed a chair from the other desks, set down and pulled out his phone. Tim was currently at the YJ base. However, he would be doing the same as Bruce; and young Robin has a worse hiperfijasion than the big bat. So, his only safe bet would be Wally or Donna, but the second one it's traveling through Malawi on a humanitarian aid mission, so he's only left with Wally. He should have done that in the first place if he wanted to know the whole story instead of coming to Bruce. At least the flash family did know how to communicate things willingly and without loss any details.
Alfred, faithful to punctuality, made his presence known at the base bringing with him a tray of late-night snacks. "Master Richard, it's nice to have you around tonight. how's Bludhaven been?"
Nightwing put aside his cell phone and gave his full attention to the butler. Even though his best friend had just sent him a great paragraph telling him what happened and he was about to read it. Gossip can wait when it comes to Alfred. "I can't say it's all right because that would be a lie, but I can claim he's had one or two improvements these past few weeks."
"That's wonderful to hear, Master Richard." Alfred poured a cup of hot chocolate for Dick as he gave him a little smile. "You do what you can, and that's what counts." He continued, then turned to the other older adult in the room and the smile was once again a line on his face. "Master Bruce, do I have to unplug the Batcomputer so you can take a break ? or you will be finally pausing for a snack? you still haven't had any food since you've arrived.”
Bruce’s fingers stopped instantly, a deep sigh left the man’s lungs before he locked the computer, removed his hood mask and turned to his adoptive father with resignation. He did not look at his eldest son, for no reason did he look at that gloating face. He kept his eyes on the mug of hot chocolate and the pair of sandwiches that came with it.
 “Thank you, Alfred.”
“You’re welcome, sir.”
Just as Bruce was about to take a bite of his sandwich after a small sip from his chocolate mug, his league communication device started beeping. He heard Alfred sigh and that was all he needed to put his hood back on and put the call through to the big baticomputer screen.
“Batman, here.”
Phantom’s image took up the entire monitor, now without the cloned baby in his arms and a somewhat uncomfortable look on his face. “Hello, Bat. Phantom here, are you busy?”
“Phantom, did something serious happen?” the Gotham knight responded with another question. “Where are the… childrens”
Danny looked at the Gotham’s knight and wondered again how his mask was able to minimize the lenses in his eyes to reflect frowning eyes. Okay, he was straying from the topic at hand. “My little star is with my big sister and Hydor is helping to Cool his mother. Well, that’s what I want to talk to you about-”
“Hydor?” interrupted Dick, now with his mask firmly in place. Next to him, Alfred, also making use of his distinctive black opera mask.
Danny grinned with countless teeth, “Oh, the half-Kryptonian kid was agreed with my name option. I don’t know if he’ll change his mind later, but for the moment Hydor is the name we use to refer to him”.
Nightwing was about to speak again, but Batman cut his opportunity. “What did you mean by mother?” If they were talking about the child made with Superman’s DNA, then Phantom must have named Lex. However, the phantom hero didn’t have to name the villain. Bruce thought about how the hero had said he had ‘sisters’… plural. He didn’t say how many, but it was more than one.
Quickly, Bruce opened another window to the side of the call and brought up the reports regarding Clark’s cloning. As this one searched through the countless notations about the failed experiments, Danny spoke again.
“Yeah, well, I wanted to talk to you about that man.” Danny began, his expression shifting to somewhat serious, though mostly relaxed. “By your hovering movements over the keyboard, I’m taking it for granted that you have a clue what I’m going to say. So, I’ll give you the quick version of the subject.”
The search stopped at the penultimate document on the list and Batman didn’t know whether to be relieved or worried by such a find.
It couldn't be that...
Danny saw his pause and chuckled a little. “That was quick” he commented. “But yes, it looks like Lex was conned by his own team of scientists.” He continued this time without holding back his laughter, though no one in the cave seemed to share his amusement. “So, besides giving me a daughter, Cadmus gave me a nephew. Isn’t that great?”
“You mean the clone of Sup-.”
“Hydor” , corrected Phantom with a warning look and losing all grace from his face.
“You mean Hydor is the son of Superman and one of your sisters?” asked Nightwing again, his face not emerging from the surprise of the fact. “Wait, since when do you have sisters!”
“Since I can remember, And yes, the other donor for Hydor’s creation is not Lex, but is my little sister, Nightmare.” At this point Phantom began to levitate in front of the camera, from what Batman can deduce he is sitting in mid-air while suspending the communicator in front of him with his telequinesis.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE MARINE ARCHIVES AU (I'm using the Eyes power to Compell you and it's working)
OKAY SO BASICALLY. I made this AU because of the dumbest pun imaginable, involving Helen and Melanie.
I’ll show the pun at the end of the post.
Under the cut is an assortment of fish character conversions and headcanons. :)
Melanie King: pufferfish.
Helen Distortion: I originally thought of her as an eel, but later on I changed her character to a catfish. Y’know. (as much as the Distortion can be one single species)
Michael Distortion: cuttlefish. They can change their colors/patterns to deceive prey!
Jonah Magnus: Malawi Eyebiter. This one might be self-explanatory, but I think it’s fun to picture little eyebiter Jonah living inside Eel-Elias’s head. speaking of which,
Elias Bouchard: Green Moray Eel. Did you know that green moray eels aren’t even actually green. How fucked up is that.
Jonathan Sims: Cuatros Ojos (Four Eyes). They technically only have two eyes, but their eyes are split so that they can see above and below the surface of the water!! I think they’re neat. They’re also known for refusing to die when they’re outside of the water and exposed to air.
Nikola Orsinov: clownfish. Pretty self-explanatory, I think.
NotThem: octopus. Slimy little bastards who mimic other animals.
Georgie Barker: jellyfish. It just feels right to me.
That’s as far as I’ve gotten with character conversions, but I also have some random headcanons:
During the fisheyepocalypse, holes in coral could be seen to have eyes peeking out of them.
Allegiances between entities are slightly different! For example:
The Dark and the Stranger kinda band together at the bottom of the ocean, and the Vast is extremely powerful.
The Buried has a lot more to do with water pressure, but many statements that would have been related to heavy rain or getting choked on water now have to do with suffocating on air underwater.
The Hunt now obviously has a lot more to do with underwater predators than wolves and things like that above water. They have more power in this fish world.
The Vast also has pretty easy prey, and avatars sometimes take the shape of very large creatures such as blue whales.
The Slaughter is probably not as powerful here, because I don’t know how many fish go to war with each other…
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t look up spider fish because that sounds like nightmare fuel to me, but I know that they exist. They scuttle around on the floor, and that’s what the Web embodies itself as, instead of regular spiders.
I think that the Extinction might actually be more powerful here, and may have become a fully fledged Fear. Y’know, because of all the plastic, oil, and general trash that’s contaminating the ocean.
The Corruption probably has a similar influence, but maybe a little less potent because of the lack of hive-minded bugs (at least, I think there are no hive-bugs underwater. I don’t really want to look that up).
I think it’d be really funny if the Spiral just worked like normal, and it opened like, mini doors in coral for fish to swim through.
Although I guess in this AU, there needs to be some sort of institute and fish society. So yeah, the Distortion could function pretty similarly to canon TMA.
As for the Lonely, I think that would work pretty similarly (see above), but its famous fog might not work out underwater. Maybe it just makes the water go really still and cold, indicating the absence of other life-forms.
The Eye is one I’m not so sure about, but if we believe the previous (^^) statement, the Eye might function pretty similarly to canon.
Now I’m gonna include the joke that started this off in the first place, but bear in mind that this might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever thought of….
Fish!Helen: What do you call a fish with no eyes? Fish!Melanie: ... Fish!Helen: A fsh! :)
(I’ll tag you because I know that tumblr can be weird about answered asks. @samwise1548 )

2022: Yearly Round-Up
First things first: Happy New Year!!! Look at you, you made it through to tell the tale! And what a year 2022 was! For me, the highs were very euphoric, and the lows were the absolute worst. From January 2022, I wished the year would just end already. I had a very painful start to the year. In February, my only surviving grandmother passed away, and the day I got the news will go down as one of the worst days of my life. I miss my gogo dearly, but I’m also happy she is finally resting. The last long conversation I had with her was very deep, and left me inspired to live a life she would be proud of.
This was also the year we experienced devaluation, inflation, a fuel crisis, persistent blackouts and the list goes on and on. I couldn’t have picked the worst time to move out. Prices skyrocketed, and Little Miss Independent here called mum, dad, and her big sister Charity when she met any inconvenience (baby steps, guys, baby steps). But despite all that, I have really enjoyed living alone and the peace that comes with it. Honestly, it is not as scary as most people portray it. I truly love it here - highly recommend.
The good parts were really good, too. I loved quality time with family and friends, and the wins were nothing short of miracles. I significantly reduced the time I spent on some social media sites and deleted some apps while at it, and I'm glad I did. I also had a fairly great year at work, mainly because I enjoy the work I do, and I am surrounded by some really awesome workmates. It was a year of lessons, too. The biggest lesson is that when God says His mercies are new every morning? He means just that! That He loves you unconditionally? Never ever doubt it. I am walking into 2023 with all the lessons in mind and asking for God’s grace to take me through.
So, as per tradition, before we move on completely, here is my round-up for the year 2022:
Top 5 places visited:
1. Zomba Mountain - William Falls and Songani Lookout
Took a hike very early on in January, and got to see the amazing William Falls and went all the way to Songani Lookout with my girls. Zomba views will never ever get old.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Rumphi
This year was my first time going up north beyond the city of Mzuzu. All I can say is, the north really is underrated. I went all the way to Karonga, and Chiweta was a marvel. This was a work trip so I didn’t get to do much, but it just made me itch for a proper Rumphi trip. I have always wanted to visit Mushroom Farm and Nyika Plateau… What I saw of Rumphi made me realise this is one of the most beautiful districts in Malawi (by far, too!).

3. Makokola Retreat
I remember going to Makokola Retreat when we were younger during school holidays (called Club Makokola back then). When I visited this year, I felt so nostalgic! It is still as amazing as it was, and I’m so glad the standard keeps going up. This is truly one of Mangochi’s finest establishments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Kefi  Hotel Café
The newest Instagrammable location in my beautiful hometown! Kefi is located near the Zomba Botanical Gardens. They have really great food, and I love that they maintained the good old Zomba colonial style exterior and blended it with aesthetic interior design. I truly enjoyed the calm and quiet here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t know if you can just show up now, but last I checked, you have to book ahead, so plan accordingly if you ever want to visit.
5. Maravi Coffee
I finally fulfilled my promise to check out this place inside the Nature Sanctuary, right in City Centre. Such a cosy place, surrounded by trees and cheeky monkeys. For a second, you forget you are in the middle of dusty Lilongwe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top books Read
Let me not even lie guys, I did not read enough interesting books to come up with a list for this year’s round-up. What I did do though, was get into podcasts so that’s how I am making up for not coming up with a list of my top reads.
Fav Podcasts
I discovered that a very great way to spend time in slow Lilongwe traffic is a good ol’ dramatic story by Wondery! Wondery is by far, my fav publisher of podcasts. The drama. The scandals. The history lessons – oooh yes!
Here are my favourites, with my personal rating
American Scandal:
Edward Snowden (4/5)
Watergate (3/5)
The Clinton-Lewinsky Affair (4/5)
Tuskegee Syphilis Study (5/5!)
British Scandal:
Spy Cops (5/5)
The Coughing Major (5/5)
The Litvinenko Affair (3/5)
The Canoe Con (5/5!!!!)
The Murdoch Phone Hacking (3.5/5)
Business Wars:
McDonald's vs Burger King (4/5)
15 songs that were stuck on replay in 2022
Since Spotify decided to discriminate us this year and not give us our well deserved Wrapped, I had to come up with this list manually, so I hope I'm not too far off.
The one thing I have loved about this year is the amount of Malawians putting out quality music on streaming platforms. It gives me so much hope for what's to come.
1.     Jehova – Ryan Ofei
2.     Somebody Knows – ELI-J
3.     The Commission – CAIN
4.     Bwenzi Langa – Free Worship Malawi, Simplice Bless
5.     He’ll Be There – Lynual Younce
6.     I Am Yours – Terry Clark
7.     Standing By The Bedside – Cox Family
8.     Shall Not Want – Elevation Worship, Maverick City Music, Chandler Moore
9.     There Was Jesus – CAIN
10. No Words (ft. Leon Timbo) - Jason Nelson
11. Never Lost - CeCe Winans
12. You're Gonna Be Okay - Jenn Johnson
13. Capable God - Judikay
14. You I Live For - Moses Bliss
15. Alipo - Kelvin Sings, Beracah  (why is this song so short tho? 🥺)
You can find this playlist on Spotify
Honourable mentions - songs I replayed on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/oF7EUyQArPQ
https://youtu.be/WZAzTGsEnHI
https://youtu.be/PJDRmhaPAaQ
And that’s it! I wish you a great new year, until the next round-up, God willing, enjoy 2023!

Lorraine Broughton: I should never have let you go
TW: mentions of s3x sl@very, human trafficking, r@pe, kidnapping,
Being a young agent’s not easy. I’m only 15 and have been partnered with Lorraine Broughton. I don’t trust people easily the reason why is a long story. Anyway MI6 has asked us to find my jerk of a father and bring him in.
“So where are we going?” I ask her
“Chile,”
“You promised yourself you would never go back,” I muttered underneath my breath
“Why?”
“Cause of some things that happened,”
“Like what?”
“I was sold to one of my dick head of a fathers friends for his pleasure, when I was eight. I had no choice I was eight. When it got really bad I left and ran and promised that I would never go back, and now I’m going back to catch the dick.” I explain telling her the important part of the story with tears in my eyes.
“Oh honey I’m so sorry,” she says as she pulls me into a hug
“It’s fine I just want to catch this bastard and get out of here,” I say.
~~
We finally arrive and set up the safe house.
Lorraine heads out to a bar, so I sit down and watch a movie while she’s out.
The door bursts open and in steps Lorraine bloodied and bruised.
“Lorraine what happened?”
“Well I got ambushed, but I was told to tell you this. y/n is to come alone to the spot where it all started by eleven. y/n you’re not going,”
“Lorraine you’re not my mum, you’re in this mess because of me this has to stop.” I say as I grab a gun and leave. I arrive at the park where the deal took place.
“y/n you’re here,”
“Yeah well when you send a message like that…” I trail off.
“I’m surprised Lorraine let you off of your leash. Unlike I did,”
“Don’t bring that up,” I grit out as memories resurface.
“So you do remember?”
“How can I forget all the things the two of you did to me,” I say before shooting them both in the legs. Lorraine runs out from behind the trees and helps me put them in the car.
We bandage their wounds so they don’t bleed out once we got back to the safe house. Lorraine called MI6 for a plane home.
~~ on the plane home
“y/n are you ok?”
“Yeah I’m fine, I say with tears in my eyes
“You’re not, come here,” she says opening her arms. I run into them.
“I’m sorry for what I said before I left I feel horrible,”
“Don’t honey it’s ok, I know that that’s not the only thing making you feel this way, what is it?”
“It’s just some of the things that they said before I shot them made memories that I try to forget resurface.”
“Oh darling, it’s ok I’m here,”
~~~~~
We handed the two dickheads over, and now it was time to say goodbye to Lorraine.
“Well this is goodbye,”
“I guess so, see you around Lorraine,”
“Be safe,” she tells me
“I’ll try,” I say with a sad smile before turning around and leaving with tears in my eyes. I shouldn’t have told her about my past I always trust the wrong people. I shake my head of the thoughts as I arrive at the crossing I quickly turn around as a tear falls waving to Lorraine one last time. I know that I’ll never see her again. I turn around again as I jog across the street and disappear.
~~~
Lorraine’s POV
As y/n turns around again and waves I notice a tear falling down her face. She quickly turns around and runs across the street and disappears. As she does this I feel a tug in my heart and a sinking feeling in my stomach like something bad will happen to her. I try to wave it off, but I already miss her presence. I go back to my lonely apartment.
~~~
4 months later.
As I finally make my decision to hopefully adopt y/n I ask my boss.
“I’d love to help, but we haven’t seen or heard from her since you completed your mission.”
“What leads do we have?”
“Only the biggest Human trafficking ring,”
“Show me what we have”
As I look through all the information and all the houses that are there. There’s one in Malawi. For some reason my head, heart and gut told me that she was there. I immediately set off.
~~~
Upon arriving at the location I quickly enter and avoid the guards. I look for y/n everywhere. I hear a scream and immediately head towards it. I see the door is slightly open. I take a quick look inside the room and see y/n in a similar situation she had described to me 4 months ago when she was younger. My heart shattered.
I quickly burst into the room shooting the men in there before they could harm her anymore than they had. I quickly until her taking my coat off and putting it on her.
“Lorraine?”
“Hey honey,” I say softly
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to find you darling,”
“How did you know I was here?”
“I followed my head, heart and gut, and it leads right here, now we need to get out of here,” I take her hand and lead her out of the house.
We arrive at the plane. I take her to the bathroom where I give her a change of clothes. I go and sit down to give her privacy.
“Lorraine, thank you for finding me,” she says sitting next to me.
“Oh honey I should never have let you go when you left that day. I had a sinking feeling that something would happen to you, I’m so sorry.”
“Raine it’s not your fault, I wasn’t as careful as I normally am.”
“Oh sweetheart. MI6 didn’t tell me that you’d been missing til I went to ask them something about you, I’m sorry If I had known I would’ve found you sooner.”
“Raine please it’s ok, what were you asking them?”
“Well I was asking if it was possible to adopt you if you’d like that,”
“Really?”
“Yes it’s your decision, and I’ll respect whatever you decide.” “Raine there’s no choice I’m staying with you,”
“Oh my darling, I promise that I will never let anything bad happen to you,”
“I know Mum, thank you for everything”
“Of course my dear I love you Honey,”
“I love you too mum,”

FRESH MANNA
THE WICKED IN HIGH PLACES
Esther 3:1-15
There are wicked acts and wicked people in high places, using their authority and influence for bad things. Imagine how you’d feel to receive a couriered letter telling you that you and all your people (nationality, ethnicity, and race) have been sentenced to death, not for any crime committed but just for existence, an offence to certain groups of people.
Well, it’s happening in our world even right now, isn’t it? Take heart though, for according to Proverbs 24:19-20, their sentencing will come too.
Haman had everything a man in his position could ever desire but like a toddler, he wanted what he couldn’t have, Mordecai's respect and honour. What is one man’s homage compared to the whole kingdom bowing and scrapping after you? Arrogance plus pride will always equate to wickedness in high places!
Politicians the world over went into office promising to use their powers and positions for the good of humanity and their communities, unfortunately, some got in and realised that there is gain in doing the wrongs that appeal to people with deep pockets who would sponsor their cause and campaign but not according to Proverbs 25:26.
Haman is not the only rotten robin in the world to want to wipe out those he sees as a threat.
So many went into an office to execute their wicked plans against humanity, using their influence, authority and office to carry out wickedness in high places like Haman, genocide was the only way to quench Haman’s hatred of the Jews, just as it was for other wicked men, such as Idi Amin, whose brutality was both to his nation, Uganda, and the world at large. Hastings Kamuzu Banda of Malawi tortured and killed anyone, including children who dishonoured him.
Haman, after falsely pointing out to the king in verse 8, that the Jews do not acknowledge the king’s sovereignty, as he said “it is not in your majesty’s interest” that means there was no benefit to the king for letting the Jews live was Haman’s reason for wanting to exterminate the Jews but the irony is that Mordecai had already demonstrated the highest loyalty to the king.
Haman’s ten thousand talent of silver was a bribe, such an enormous amount surely will incite any king of wickedness and not be questioned.
Haman was truly desperate to get rid of the Jews to pay such a huge sum for the king’s permission to get the act passed.
His inducement worked, for we see him receive the king’s signet ring in verse 10, a wicked man with a vendetta now has the highest authority in his hands to carry out his plan with a royal edict.
So, a letter comes, not just to you but to everyone who looks, speaks, and acts like you, with the royal seal and edict, telling you of your impending destruction. The confusion would be epic.
Man of Steel, Joseph Stalin’s “Reign of Terror” saw millions of deaths, imprisonment, and relocation, according to him, “death is the solution to all problems”. No man — no problem,” and “One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic. Appalling!
Saddam was a living nightmare for the Western world. He destroyed the lives of millions to achieve his evil deeds. Because the people of Bagdad did not honour him, like Haman, he destroyed the whole town, including women and children, the height of the wicked in high places.
God always steps in, as he did for the Jews, and as said in Psalm 141:10, the wicked fall in their pits. Abstain from wickedness! Wickedness does not pay!
PRAYER: Father, by your decree, deliver me from the hands of the wicked and all those who hate me, may they fall in their pits in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom

Can the Green Bay Packers Make It to the Super Bowl?
As we draw closer to another Super Bowl, a question that must be on every Packers’ fan’s mind is whether or not the team can make it to the Super Bowl. And it’s not just them that’s interested in this. As gamblers from Malawi bet frequently on NFL games, they’re also interested in this.
Although the team doesn’t have tons of championships, they have managed to secure some over the years. The latest championship win was in 2011 when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, do they have a chance to make it to the grand event this year?
While it’s not possible to say for certain, we’re going to go over the recent performance of the team to give you a better idea. Let’s get started.
Packers’ Current NFL Standings
The Green Bay Packers have been placed in the NFC North along with the Lions, the Vikings, and the Bears. The Packers are second in the division, which is an impressive feat.
But the recent performances have been worrying, to say the least. Although the team has bagged two wins, they’ve also lost two games. Compared to that, the Lions have only lost one game so far this season and are on a three-game win streak.
So far, with four games played, the Packers have lost one home and one away game. The away defeat hurts a lot less. But when a team has to lose on their home turf it’s disappointing for the team and the fans.
Looking at the current standings, it’s too early to make any predictions about the future. We’ll just have to wait and see if the team is able to break the losing streak or if it keeps growing in the coming weeks.
Reasons Behind the Current State of the Team
The Packers have suffered some heavy losses in their last few games. Several players had to be benched due to their injuries. The worst of this has to be David Bakhtiari. He’s one of the players that missed a number of games during last season. This was due to an injury that he suffered a long time ago.
It was also the reason behind the Packers’ performance last season. And it seems, this time as well, the situation is going to repeat itself. He is now out for the season.
Then there’s Elgton Jenkins, who has also suffered a knee injury. He will return Monday night against the Raiders. With other injured players returning things will start looking positive for the Green Bay Packers.
However, the injuries of these two players, along with others, mean that the rest of the team will need to step up their game in the coming weeks. If they can manage to hold down the fort till the injured players make a full recovery, there’s still a chance that the team might perform well this season.
Green Bay Packers’ Odds for Super Bowl 2023
Based on the current state of the team, several renowned bookmakers have already released the odds for the Packers for this season. According to DraftKings, the team currently has an odds of +5000 to make it to the finals.
It’s even worse on BetMGM. According to this operator, the chances of the team winning the upcoming Super Bowl are +6000. Based on these numbers, things aren’t looking good.
But as the NFL can be an unpredictable event, there’s still a chance. We’ve already mentioned that it’s still too early to tell for sure. If you’re interested in a definitive answer, you’ll have to wait for the results of the coming weeks to unfold.
Our Thoughts
Given the current state of the team, the reserve players will really need to cover for them. If they’re unable to do so, then the chances of the Packers playing in the next Super Bowl will start diminishing.
Matt LaFleur will also need to come up with some strategies to address the team’s current weaknesses. If he’s able to draw out his players’ potential, then there might still be hope for the team.
So, if you’re planning on betting on the Packers’ next games we recommend that you check in regularly with the player’s injury report. If you see one of the players making an earlier recovery, only then can you consider placing a wager on the team.

Nyasaland 1959 State of Emergency
25 Feb, 1959 When I came here, I landed in beautiful Nyasaland, named for Lake Nyasa—which is stunning—and under the protection of the British Empire while it sorts out independence declarations and reforms and what not. It turns out, though, that my timing was rather bad. In talking with some of the locals, I learned there has been quite a bit of political drama going on for the past couple years. The good news is that African representation in local councils was increased. The bad news is leader of congress was no good and was then replaced by a man who had been in exile for years and who only agreed to return to the country if he was given congressional presidency. Where it got worse is that he was absolutely against the recent federation Nyasaland resolved to make with North and South Rhodesia. This made the maybe-not-federation’s bid for dominion status untenable.
Cue lots of negotiations and politicking.
While all of this is going on, though, all of the bad policies that made life hard for the majority Africans were still in effect, imperial and commonwealth representatives were coming in (not a good look for independence), and lists of people to be arrested en masse were being compiled. So, all of that considered, unrest was obviously increasing because the people elected officials under a promise for reforms and autonomy, and the people were left with neither—just a worsening domestic situation.
Things are coming to a head now; there’s more violence, the King’s Royal Rifles (another bad sign for independence) and the Rhodesian Regiment have been flying troops in, and there are talks of so-and-so killing Europeans and so-and-so killing Africans. The locals tell me that representatives and ministers are meeting even now to see what to do about the situation, but it doesn’t seem like the solution will be to immediately solve any of these problems. I might want to move on pretty quick…
27 Feb, 1959 Update: Things did not get better. The representatives called a state of emergency, over 1,000 colonial troops are in the country (it’s not that big of a country, mind you), the parliament was dissolved, its president and executive cabinet were arrested, and lots—lots—of local officials were arrested as well. Just today, the Nyasaland African Congress was banned. I picked a good time to leave.

Lake House Luxe: Soak Up Some Sun in These 4 Summer Wardrobe Essentials
There’s nothing quite like the solitude and scenic beauty of a mountain lake. Whether embarking on a family adventure, a romantic getaway, or flying solo, spending time at the premier lake destinations around the globe is always worthwhile.
Tumblr media
Assembling the right wardrobe of travel clothes for women is essential to making the most out of your trip to Lake Emerald, Lake Malawi, or anywhere in between. For example, you’ll find Sweden can be a little chilly without your safari jacket, and the Philippines may have you overheating if you forget to pack a sleeveless top.
To make packing easier, check out this list of four essential pieces for your upcoming trip to one of the world’s most stunning lakes.
Bermuda Shorts for Boating and Hiking in Warm Weather
If you plan to spend the day on the water or explore the pine forests surrounding the lake, you need clothing that keeps you looking and feeling great without restricting your movement or making you overheat. That’s why Bermuda shorts are a superb option.
Their longer length makes them perfect for wandering around all day long. The best Bermuda shorts for a lake trip will be crafted from premium stretch performance fabric that’s extremely breathable and light, so you get a curve-hugging fit that won’t hold you back.
A Lightweight, Slim-Fitting Jacket for Changing Conditions
Storms can move in rapidly depending on the topography of your lake destination. Getting caught in a surprise burst of rain can ruin your day if it means you’re left soaked and shivering. That’s why you need an outer layer you can count on to keep the inclement weather at bay without compromising your natural elegance.
Slim-fitting safari jackets are renowned for their ability to elevate any outfit. Plus, they’re supremely versatile—safari jackets can keep you cozy on an uncomfortably cool flight just as well as they can prevent thunderstorms from raining on your parade.
Cozy, Elegant Pants for Travel
We’re specifically discussing lake wardrobes here, but no matter your destination, you need to have comfortable, lightweight pants for travel. The best ones are super versatile and look more polished than your typical leggings or jeans.
Skinny cargo pants are always a superb choice, especially if you’re flying. The right material makes all the difference, so find travel pants that use lightweight European performance fabrics and give a little stretch. All the better if your pants are wrinkle-free since you can pack them and wear them again without having to iron them.
Sleeveless Tops for Enjoying the Sun
Whether you’re visiting Lake Tahoe in July or Lake Victoria in early fall, these destinations have one thing in common: plenty of sunshine.
Long-sleeved tops and dresses might be the right idea for drinks and dinner, but you’ll want to have sleeveless tops during the day, at the very least. A sleeveless top will help you stay comfortable while you’re soaking up some rays. The best part is you can go straight from your lounge chair to the restaurant without a second thought.
Sleeveless tops are also a fantastic means of maintaining your distinguished look while traveling, especially in the tropics, so be sure to match them with your favorite travel pants.

Happy 75th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 10, 2023
Valuable to God
By Selina Machado (Blantyre, Malawi)
READ MATTHEW 13:44-46
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."
MATTHEW 13:44 (NIV)
"'I used to think that I was not valuable to God. I would think to myself, I am not as good-looking as that person. I do not have any important skills. I’m not good enough. Sometimes these thoughts started with something as simple as not being invited to an event and feeling rejected. Other times, I found myself brooding over painful words said to me or things done to me.
Meditating on today’s verse from Matthew helped me to see how the King of kings and God of the universe feels about me. In God’s eyes I am a treasure who brings delight and joy. God believes we are worth giving up everything. So as I think about Christ being born and dying on the cross, I now understand that sacrifice in light of this parable.
We understand how much something is worth by the price that has been paid. Jesus gave it all for me on the cross. Therefore I can no longer go on living another day feeling like I do not count. I am learning to look at myself and say out loud, “I am valuable!”' Everyone of us is valuable to God. Jesus gave His life to show us that. Any self doubt that you might have should be banished from your head. We just commemorated, again, the Risen Savior. That tells you that you mean everything to Him. Go forward and share that unmatched love with all people.
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Father, thank you for loving me and embracing me. Thank you for giving your all for me." Amen.
Matthew 13:44-46
New International Version
The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
"'44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."'
We have a hidden pearl in our hearts and lives. God's love that cannot be measured is there full force. Do not hide that treasure as they did in the parables above. Rather give your everything to making sure others know and receive all of that love. It is our mission in life. SHARE LOVE! Be a blessed people every day. Joe
