Pairing: Siren Hyunjin X AFAB Reader Genre: smut, pirate/siren AU, slight yandere themes !!WARNINGS!! yandere themes, cream pie, making out, doing it from the back, facefucking/intense blowjobs, fingering, cunnilingus, degradation/slight dumbifcation, DOM HYUNJIN, SUB READER, reader gets super fucked out. I think that's all, but I'm bad at warnings. Also, there is slight control over the mind, but everything is consensual! Word Count: 7,222 Requested: Yes! Author's Note: I used several references while writing this including Pirates of the Caribbean, H2O Just Add Water (literally only the moonpool/grotto area, that's what the scene is based on), and the faces I envision the sirens having is basically the vampire faces in "The Vampire Diaries." I also watched One Piece while writing this. Avatar (James Cameron) also inspired the mermaid/siren sex biology. (When they use their hair to touch and that's sex, yeah I did something like that). Reader is a pirate that basically only uses pirate slang around her crew, besides that she talks normal. I figured the pirate slang would get annoying to y'all, so I kept it own. I hope you like it! I'll be transparent, this fic is the only one I've ever questioned and been tempted to re-write a few times. I'd love to write something like this again, but I do need to practice. Synopsis: You're a pirate captain that's looking for sirens and mermaids, but what happens when you attack the enemies, and a beautiful siren takes you away for himself? Check out my Stray Kids Masterlist Support me by buying me a coffee ☕️
EDIT AFTER POSTING: Y'all be making me blush and shit with your feedback. I'm giggling and kicking my feet <3<3<3

For hundreds of years people have roamed the oceans. From sailors on ships to the deadliest pirates of the seven seas, the treacherous waters have taken many lives, not only to the water itself, but the unknown dangers of what lies beneath its surface.
Stories of many kinds have stumbled their way out of survivors and drunken deadbeats. What they saw at sea or what they heard from someone else, anything was plausible in this kind of world. If it came from someone’s mouth, it was bound to be true in one or another. No one can ever be careful enough, so it was better to take everything as truth. Even the most ridiculous sounding claims shouldn’t have been taken lightly.
You were the captain of a large pirate ship named The Corruption. You weren’t the most feared pirate known to man, but you were certainly amongst them. You were the only pirate willing to tread where others never came back from. You had faced the Kraken, not killing it, for your adventure only called to find where it rested to avoid crossing near the area at all costs. You faced several other sea monsters, whether they were larger than three ships or nearly as small as a minnow. In this place, the unknown were considered monsters until proven friendly. You and your crew were one of the reasons the unknown creatures were given names in the first place.
People often wondered about the name of your ship, The Corruption. As far as anyone knew, you weren’t one looking for a good or quick fuck like anyone else when drunk, stressed, or just plain horny. Anyone who would have ever heard your name knew you were one of the bravest captains in the known lands, but they also knew you weren’t one to hurt.
You were known for finding creatures but never hurting them. You never forced your crew to walk the plank or make a sacrifice. You were feared for confidence and bravery, not unjust corruption like other pirates. The name of the ship didn’t make sense. How could you, a captain so understanding, sail a ship with an unfit name? Everyone wondered. But you knew. Only you. Only you had the actual mindset to understand why it would be given such a name, and it was simple: Those who sail on it are corrupted by the wonders, those who sail on it live to tell the tales, and thus are corrupted by the truthfulness filled in the sea. They were not killed, they survived intentionally, as long as the captain had any say in it.
Though there was no reason to fear you, people were still terrified because you were willing to explore what others wouldn’t dare go near. You didn’t take shit from anyone. Your very presence, the kind that was filled with confidence, your willingness to look anyone in the eye, and you could get anyone to tell the truth. You could read a lie from nautical miles away.
This next voyage of yours was not the most dangerous, but somehow it scared the crew and anyone new willing to sign up. You were on the search for something that was only legend. Nothing proven, no one alive to tell the tale, and it was strictly based on sightings, no real interactions. For years there had been narratives of half fish, half humans swimming by ships quickly, like they were doing their best to not be seen. Oftentimes the quick glimpses made were described as beautiful women, long hair flowing down their backs and breasts out with no cover. The Englishmen called them “mermaids.”
You wanted to see them for yourself. It was what you did: searched for the tales, or in this case tails, to prove they were real, and if they’re dangerous and how to avoid them. But you questioned why they were so afraid of beautiful maidens that swam along beside them.
Annoyed by everyone’s lack of commitment, you rounded up your crew and anyone else interested in the voyage.
“What the hell is wrong with this lily-livered crew? You wanna sail, especially on my ship, you’re gonna get the hell on and go. What happened to me swashbucklers?! You have faced the kraken and you’re all scared to go hunt for half fish half humans? Now, all hands hoay!”
Your crew didn’t move, barely budged actually, they just blinked at you. Until one man stepped forward and spoke up.
“Captain, we don’t mean to seem like landlubbers, but rumor has it these mermaids ain’t that friendly. Says they sing with perfect pitch and harmony to lure anyone to their deaths, then snack on them like we’re a hearty meal. We ain’t wanna die to the hands of lust, ya hear?”
In disbelief by such words and rumors you had to understand it was important to be cautious. This wasn’t the type of journey you could just set sail for, it seemed there were more obstacles. You had to come up with more of a plan than a simple aboard ship and sail off.
“If these ‘maids are so dangerous then why is it they swim by our ships without going in for a snack, aye?”
Another mate spoke up to answer your question.
“Captain, it’s been said that they could be related but they ain’t the same creature, savvy? Rumors been calling the ones who sing ‘Sirens’ instead of mermaids. They look the same, but they await on shores singing to lure them whereas mermaids are friendly, helpful fellows.”
“Ya sound like you’re three sheets to the wind. Where’d you hear this scuttlebutt?”
“Came from an old seadog, Captain Rattles, Captain.”
You thought for a moment. Captain Rattles was one hell of a source, to be honest. He sailed the seas for decades, every warning he ever came about ended up to be true. Never once had he lied to crews and captains. He was a pirate to behold, really.
“Fine. I’m gonna have a meeting with Rattles to figure out a plan. Then all of you are boarding my ship, or else you’re gonna find yourselves lovers with the hempen halter. Savvy?”
“Aye aye, Captain!”
And the mates scurried off while you made your way to the old tavern where Rattles always seemed to be. It was time to figure out what you were gonna do with the ole hearties. It was annoying to you though. They were willing to die by a giant octopus and not a pretty girl. Typical pirates looking down on women.
Later that night you found yourself seated next to Rattles with a notebook to take notes on anything he had to say.
“I remember encountering them for the first time. We heard a beloved voice and heard it coming from a distance. We saw a mermaid. She turned on her back and swam while her mouth opened. The song came from her. We were all entranced. We followed through a fog until her song became a screech. Her face contorted, and her teeth became sharp fangs. The fog dissipated. Then there was a colony of them. They looked so peaceful in the water, until they all did the same thing. They began to attack. It didn’t help that the ship was smaller. I barely escaped. Only me and two others got out. Everyone else was ripped apart in front of us or dragged into the water where the carnage was hidden. We aren’t sure if there were survivors. We aren’t sure if sirens and mermaids are different or if one makes the other. There are so many things we don’t know, but no one should trust a half fish, half human. It’s not safe. We need someone to figure it out. We need you to figure it out.”
“I know. I want to. My crew is scared.”
“Come on, Captain. Let’s figure this out.”
“Aye aye, Captain.”
That night over drinks the both of you came up with a plan. You and the crew needed to wear cloth in your ears to prevent the sound of songs from working. You needed to stack on weapons, ready to attack back. You all needed to pretend that the song was working. The plan was to sail east off the island. That’s where they accidentally found the cove they named “Libido’s Lounge.” It was noted that there weren’t just women, there were men as well. Even those who didn’t fancy men still fell under the spell, and vice versa.
A few weeks passed by while you gathered the supplies you all needed for the voyage. It was dangerous, and those who began to board knew that. Even you, the bravest of adventurers, were slightly trembling as you boarded last. You weren’t sure why you were so nervous, but you had a gut feeling this was not going to end well. You wanted to cancel it because you’ve never had a gut feeling like this before, but it was too late. You had to go through with it.
“Anchors aweigh! Better get your sea legs in quick because we’re in for a ride!”
“Aye aye, Captain!”
The escapade took a few weeks. The bad feeling in your stomach grew worse. Some days you could barely walk, the anxiety crumbling you. Your head had shooting pains that grew worse the closer The Corruption got to Libido’s Lounge. The crew noticed, but they refused to say anything. It's never good to doubt the captain, especially when they’re in this position of danger with no one else to lead them out.
Dark grew over the horizon as the sun hid itself. The ship continued to sail onwards until a crew member looked over the deck and saw a beautiful face emerge from the water. She smiled at him, and he smiled at her fondly. The way her face was beautifully carved made him feel butterflies, and it wasn’t just the fact that he’d been living off of rum for a while. A crew member next to him noticed his gaze followed towards the girl. He quickly ran towards you to alert you that you’d reached the cove.
“Alert the crew to get the cloth in their ears, now. Get Barbins over there out of that trance or he’s gonna be feeding the fishes.”
“Aye aye, Captain.”
Without a second to lose he began to round up the crew one by one to let them know the plan needed to go into full effect now. They plugged their ears with cloth.
“Hey, Barbins.” The man whispered.
Irritated, he turned to face him.
“What is it?”
“Cloth, now. Captain said so. Or you’re gonna be dinner for them.”
“Gyah, whatever!”
He stuffed his ears quickly before facing the pretty girl again. She smiled, and he smiled back. You noticed this. She began to swim away, and you quickly alerted the crew to follow her. You grabbed a hold of the wheel and spun it to change direction. Through the mist you blindly followed the girl.
“Oi! Be ready for anything. The second her face turns ugly, start attacking!”
The mist cleared and water grew shallower. There was a clearing filled with the most beautiful faces ever seen. You glared at them as they opened their mouths and began to sing. Through the cloth, all of you could hear the song, but you were hoping it stopped the hypnotic way it enchanted the ears. They all stared at the ship while they harmonized their song. But you couldn’t see any men. Your father had told you there would be men, but there were none here. They were all beautiful girls, you could admit to that. You saw the attraction, and you understood the danger of their beauty.
You looked to see Barbins jumping off the ship. You were stunned. What was he doing?
“Man overboard! Start the attack, now!”
WIth a yell the men began to shoot at the water, and the creatures became angry. Soon they lunged at the ship, managing to grab hold of the crew and dragging them down to the depths. There were way more of them than you had crew, and you knew there’d be more to come.
Honestly, you lost your depth. Your stomach grew more knots as you watched the bloodshed. There was going to be no survivors by the look of it. Your head felt full and heavy. Your vision became blurry. Your legs felt weak. The epitome of this dreadful feeling somehow worsened when you got to the clearing, and it hurts even more now, like the source of it is getting closer.
You began to back away from the wheel when you felt yourself hit the back of someone’s chest. You wanted to turn around, but you couldn’t move. Two arms arose to your ears on both sides of your head and pulled the cloth out of them. Then one arm wrapped around your throat and put you in a chokehold while lips quietly sung in your ear.
“Dead men tell no tales.
Ugly men raid our seas
So we tear their sails
And hear their begging pleas.”
A mate saw you in danger, so he began to run towards you. The figure who grasped you hissed at him while his eyes shriveled, veins protruded, and fangs threatened. The mate didn’t back down, so the stranger put you down and lunged at him. He quickly sank his fangs into his shoulder and tore a bite right through him. The mate cried before he was pushed overboard.
You tried to flee in the distraction, but you weren’t fast enough. Furious at your attempt to escape he continued to sing as he stalked towards you.
“Dead men tell no tales,
But you my sweet
Are beautiful as my scales
You’ll stick around as my treat.”
He grabbed you by your arm and pulled you toward the ship’s main deck. You were confused by the man’s ability to walk if he seemed to be the same creature as the ones in the water. Your head hurt too much to fully wrap the idea in your brain. Another mate tried to go for the enemy, but he was knocked to the ground.
“W-what is g-g-going on?” You tried to speak, but you only stuttered the words.
“My name is Hyunjin, and you attacked my kind. That does not go without punishment.”
He pushed you overboard into the water before diving in right behind you. You swam to the surface as best as you could until you were pulled underwater by Hyunjin. His legs were gone, and they were replaced with an abstract tail. It was a warm brown color with hints of crimson red and golden yellow. Though he was a being that belonged to the sea, his tale resembled fire with its colors and extension fins like that of a betta fish. The colors felt inviting.
He placed a kiss on your lips which then gave you the ability to breathe without worry. You tried to fight against him, but once he began to sing with his beautiful voice you were lost again. You stared blankly at him as he took your hand and swam away with you, leaving the war to finish itself without guidance.
Hyunjin swam towards a vacant grotto where he laid your body on a rocky surface. The grotto was his secret hideaway. The only life around it were the fishes and the plants that danced in the water. Hyunjin kept his tail in the water while he laid his arms on the rock staring at your unconscious body. He couldn’t help himself. There was something about you that captivated his attention. Your breathing was calm, you felt lost. You couldn’t think proper thoughts, and you were lost in a void where there was everything and nothing at the same time.
He wasn’t sure what it was. There was something about the way you lead your ship through the mist, thinking you were being strategic, but he stalked behind the ship the entire time. He grabbed onto the side of the ship, beginning to climb his way onto it and watching the scenes unfold. He noticed you were teetering while you ordered your crew around. He could tell you weren’t entirely there. There was a feeling in his stomach that made him want to help. He felt compelled to aid you. He wasn’t sure if it was your bravery for willingly going where every man fears or if it was because you were the most beautiful face he had ever seen. Even though he was and lived amongst a species that matched the beauty of gods on earth, no one looked as beautiful as you.
He was supposed to be the one who lured people into his trap. That was what being a siren was about. He wouldn’t sing so beautifully if it wasn’t for that. Even before he was trapped in this cursed body, women would swoon over his artwork. Every woman would look at him lustfully, some of them were quite attractive, but no one was ever able to catch his eye. So, why are you, some pirate trying to kill off his kind, making him feel ways he has never felt before? That wasn’t fair. That defeated the point of all of this!
He found himself caressing your head softly, staring at the way the water soaked clothes clung to your body accentuating every nook and cranny of it. His body tingled in ways it hadn’t in awhile. Excitement filled his face while he watched you breathe steadily. There was something about the way you were under his spell, under his control, that turned his brain to goo. His mouth began to water, his face felt hot, and his head started to ache at the uncontrollable feeling of wanting to touch you and make you scream his name, but instead of begging for mercy to live you’re begging to have him touch you more and more. The thought alone made him groan.
You began to wake up from your hypnotic state, stirring slightly, eyes blurry, blinking back to reality only to be met with the high ceilings of a cave and an uncomfortable pain in your back from lying on dirt. Human nature made you want to bolt upright and run, but your pirate nature wanted you to remain calm, find a plan, and escape danger without causing a disaster. You laid there, eyes open, trying to avoid the small sounds of splashing water and the glaring gaze of your captor’s eyes digging into the side of your head attempting to read your thoughts.
“I know you’re awake, Captain.” He taunts you with your title. “For the Captain of a ship, you’re certainly pretty inferior and weak right now.”
You grunt at his comment, starting to haul yourself up to find a way out of this mess. As you stand, you’re immediately stopped when a blissful tone reaches your ears, and once again, you don’t have control over your own body. You can feel it. You can feel yourself wanting to resist but being unable. Hyunjin speaks.
“Ah ah ah, darling. Lay back down. We are not finished here. I told you that you’d be punished.”
His words made chills sprint across your spine. Your cold, goosebumped covered body felt warm from nothing, and you felt yourself melt back to the ground. You turned your head towards his, and he lifted himself out of the water and hovered over you when his tail became two long, clothed legs. He looked at you too, and you daringly stared into his eyes. Within them you saw lust and desire, nothing more and nothing less. Well, there was something more, but you couldn’t decipher it.
Hyunjin bent down and crouched next to you, cupping your cheek and gently caressing his thumb over reddening skin. He stared into your eyes, reading them, finding your scrambled thoughts.
“You need to be good and listen to me. I can’t keep making you listen to me by using my voice, but if you make me, then I will. Am I understood, Captain? Nod your head if you understand, pretty girl.”
You nodded your head. You did understand, but the nodding of your head was not on your own free will. His touch made you burn more. There was something about his over looming presence that made you feel small. One thing you always hated was the belittling you dealt with when it came to being a woman in a pirate’s life. Always trying to act above you when you know damn well it’s for their own ego. However, Hyunjin was alluring to you, equally as much as you were to him. There was something about his confidence and dominance that made you horny instead of angry. Maybe it was because it wasn’t his ego talking, it was just who he was. He knew he was in control here, and that’s why he didn’t feel nervous around you. The other men who made comments towards you always ended up being the weakest. Not Hyunjin though, nothing about him seemed submissive.
The horrible feeling in your stomach never subsided. It grew even more in the position you laid in, and you started to wonder if the wetness in your panties is more than the wetted undergarments from being dragged through the sea like a monster’s prey. Maybe the horrible feeling in your stomach was just your gut feeling telling you to get dicked, and there was something about the nearing presence that made the feeling grow.
Sirens, you think to yourself, are lust filled devils that overwhelm one’s desires when they approach them. Their songs do not force falsified love into someone, but overpowers their primal desires more than they can bear, weakening them, and taking them as food. But why do they want to hurt us, and the sighted mermaids want to help us?
Hyunjin sang another tune, but it made the hypnotic effect wear off, almost like an anecdote. You didn’t move, too afraid for your body to not be your own anymore.
“Tell me, Captain, do you want me?” He asked boldly.
You looked him deep in his eyes. You wanted to deny it, you really did, but just as they claimed, he was as beautiful as they came, more than likely the most perfect one, even beating the gods’ beauty. You wanted him in many ways, and he wanted you all the same. Like the bold pirate you were, you spoke up.
“Yes, I do. Do you want me?”
“Yes, surprisingly I do.” He wasn’t lying. You knew it, you could read lies, and even if it was in his powers to be able to lie without getting caught, this seemed too desiring to him. His breathing was barely steady at the start. He was struggling to hold back.
He moved to plant himself between your legs and then moved his hand to your neck and applied pressure to the sides of it carefully, taking away some air, but not a lot. You gasped, trying to take back all the air he cut off but failed.
“It actually pisses me off how much I want you. Do you know what I’m supposed to do with invasive pests like you?” He leans in closer.
“I’m supposed to rip you apart, limb from limb, and drag you down in the deep to eat you…”
He comes closer, grip tightening, his mouth right to yours, hovering above it just barely.
“But something in me, something about you, makes me want to rip you apart for my own sake, and I want to hear you cry my name while I do.”
He releases your neck and puts his lips to yours. As he makes contact, you kiss back. He isn’t sweet with it, you aren’t either. His kiss is rough, teeth hooking onto your bottom lip and tongue prodding its way into your mouth while he uses one hand to hold himself up and the other to roughly massage your breast while he rolls his hips between your legs to give your clit the smallest bit of tension. He rolls over with a rhythm, enough to make you let out small, pleading whimpers. He smiled, hearing you fall apart on nothing when he’s just begun.
He moves, and he begins to peel off the damp clothes from your body. You want to shiver, you want to be cold when your entire naked body is exposed to the elements, but it only burns. You can barely think, and it’s no longer the lack of air’s fault or Hyunjin’s songs. It’s just how horny you are for this angelically handsome devil. He takes off the rags that hide him as well. The sight of his slightly toned chest and thin stomach fills you with more desire than before. Then he removes his pants, and that makes your pussy throb the most.
He leans back down to you, except he faces your core, and leans in for a meal. The spit from his tongue meeting your untouched folds makes you shudder, and you grab his hair and pull him closer on instinct. His tongue licks in and out of your vagina and messily makes his way to your clit where he sucks on it and nips on it slightly. Your sensitivity is so intense that you feel yourself leak a bit more over his face. He continues his assault on your clit while his hand makes his way to tease around your hole before entering one finger, and a few thrusts later adding a second.
“Hyunjin, fuck-” You moan while he continues his actions. He takes his mouth off of your clit for a moment to say, “Good girl.” You gush at the nickname and turn your head to the side to hide from how excitedly the praise made you feel.
The knot in your stomach was ready to be untied. Your quiet whimpers and moans got louder and increased, which signaled him to pick up the pace a little faster.
“Whenever you’re ready. Just sail with the wind, Captain.”
As soon as he said that, you released onto him and rode out your high as he calmed his movements before pulling away. Your eyes felt heavy, your body felt relaxed, but you didn’t want to stop there. Hyunjin didn’t either. You fell limply onto your back when Hyunjin moved himself from you.
“Hey, there, pirate, we aren’t done with this voyage of ours yet.”
Looking down at you, he bent down and picked you up by your hips, moving you to sit in front of a rock on your knees. The rock was at your eye level. Hyunjin sat on top of the rock. He slightly flinched at the coolness of the rock against his ass, but he warmed up to it quickly. He spread his legs, leaving his dick out, and the perfect space for you to crawl in and suck him off. You stared at his long, hard dick while it waited for attention.
“Hey, princess,” Hyunjin snapped his fingers in front of your face. “Get to it.”
You crawled to him on your knees, head bowing down in embarrassment, but Hyunjin grabbed the roots of your head and pulled you close to his dick. “Open.” And you did. You opened your mouth wide and took him in while he kept his hold on your roots for physical control. You bobbed your head up and down, moving your hand up to grab what you couldn’t reach, but Hyunjin stopped you.
“You’re a Captain, aren’t you? Using your mouth to bark orders all day? Not to mention how much you unhinged your jaw to take me. If your pretty mouth can do those things, then you can suck my whole cock without taking a shortcut with your hands.” He pushed your head all the way on his cock, making you gag, but he ignored it. He kept this up, barely letting you breathe. All he did was assault your throat with each thrust making him groan at your warm, wet walls that felt like heaven’s touch. You could feel your throat become sore, but you honestly didn’t want to stop him. There was something about the way he sounded and his control over you that made you want to please him forever.
Not long later, his groaning increased and became louder. He was going to cum soon, and you could tell when he pushed your head into cock faster.
“Fuck!” He moaned when he felt cum spurt from his tip. He calmed his pushing, but he made you keep your mouth around his cock until he was fully finished, then he withdrew himself and forced you to swallow all of it.
Drool was falling down your chin, your jaw and throat hurt, your scalp was slightly burning, but your eyes were glazed over, wanting even more of him. You felt like you were floating, the pain in your body making your pussy wetter. Even though you felt like Hyunjin was controlling your body with the way he used you like a toy, a new melody filled in your ears making the ache in your body reside. Each tune he sang seemed to do a different thing, but each of them were helpful in the situation you found yourself in. This tune didn’t put you in his control, but it rather settled you to be comfortable for what he was going to do next.
Hyunjin stood up and looked down at you while you remained on your knees. He brought his hand underneath your chin and forced you to look into his eyes.
“Tell me your name.” He spoke. His tone was stern. It wasn’t like the way he spoke before, this was a hard command. You weren’t sure why he was so stern about your name and not the intense oral sex you performed on him moments ago.
“It’s Syrena.” You lie.
Hyunjin grips your chin tighter and glares daggers at you.
“You’re lying. Tell me your name.”
“Ariel.”
Hyunjin pushed your head to the side harshly before bending down and grabbing you by the base of your neck and forcing you to look at him again. This time he’s much closer. He’s more intimidating this way, and you feel your stomach jump.
“Lie to me again, and see what happens. Tell me your name or I will leave you here to die.”
“My name is Y/N. Captain Y/N.”
“Now was that so hard, Y/N?” You glared at him, tempted to rip out of his grasp and kill him on the spot, but you didn't. You stayed put because your sinful temptations were getting the best of you.
“Captain, Y/N.” You corrected him. Even though he’s been calling you pet names since you got there, now you were starting to grow tired of his taunting and teasing. You let him have his fun, but now you wanted your respect back. However, you were basically willing to do anything for him to fuck you at this point, but you didn’t want to admit that.
“No, no, no,” He paused, lifting you by your hips again and sitting himself back on the rock. “You are no captain to me.” He sat you slightly on his lap, grabbing his dick and teasing your clit. Your arms were wrapped around his neck to keep you up. The feeling made you whine loudly. He smirked, slowly pushing his head into your soaked cunt until his long length was fully inside you. Your head fell back, and your mouth opened without control as you let out of the loudest moan you could muster. He used his hand to bring you back to face him and look into his piercing gaze again. Your mouth stayed open, moaning with each small thrust he gave as he pushed himself into you, but keeping most of his dick inside you.
“You are just a pathetic, cock-hungry, submissive, girl.” He said between his small thrusts.
“H-h-hyunjin, please.” You plead. He gives an evil smile and lets go of your neck making it fall back again. He stood up, holding onto you, bringing you off of his cock almost entirely before harshly thrusting himself back inside. You couldn’t control your reaction, even if you tried. You screamed in pleasure, the noises echoing off the grotto’s walls. He continued to plow into you, but it was enough to ensure it was pleasurable for the both of you and not just his own selfishness.
“Hyunjin! I can’t- Fuck!” You moaned.
“Yes, you can. Fucking take it.” He growled, fucking into you harder.
“Ah- I can’t, please!” The pleasure was insane, impossible to describe. Then, again, there was another new melody that rang through your brain, and you felt like you were floating. You were able to take whatever he gave you without worry, but the pleasure somehow doubled. Your eyes were oceans with the way the tears spilled from them each moment he didn’t stop. But everything was bliss. Everything was perfect. You felt more relaxed and calm than you ever had before.
Hyunjin switched the positions you were in, lying your stomach against the rock, and your ass in the hair where he entered you from behind and held onto you by your head fucking into you even deeper.
“My little pirate taking the cock of her enemy.” You wanted to correct him, tell him that your intention was to learn about them, not to hurt them, but that thought left your mind as soon as you had it. You couldn’t think. You were almost brain dead, only being able to feel everything he was giving you and more.
“I’m gonna cum soon!” You managed to choke out.
“Fuck, baby, me too.” He groaned back.
“Ah, Hyunjin, please, I can’t hold it.”
“Just a little bit. I’ll tell you when you can cum.” His stern voice was back, there was no choice whether you did or didn’t on your own terms.
He moved out of you for a brief moment and turned you around to face him. Quickly and carefully he picked you up and thrusted his cock into you. You shoved your face into his neck, kissing and sucking and biting him to bare the orgasm building inside you.
“Can I please-”
“Yes.”
As soon as you released, Hyunjin did too, fucking his cum into you while you moaned. He found your lips and kissed you while slowly walking towards the moonpool of water and allowed himself to fall in with you while you kissed him lustfully and passionately, and he did the same.
In the water, you were lost, eyes open, but not having control. Hyunjin’s presence was not absent from you, but you still felt sexual pleasure. You weren’t sure how.
Hyunjin was in front of you, facing you, and smirking. You looked at him, confused as to how you weren’t sinking without him holding you and without swimming. Then you realized you couldn’t feel your legs. You looked down, and your legs were replaced with a shining mermaid’s tale and extensions of a betta fish, just like Hyunjin’s, right in front of you. You noticed one betta fin of yours and his were connected. That was where the pleasure was located.
You wanted to scream and cry. Hyunjin could tell, so he came closer to you. He held your face in his hands again, stroked your cheeks gently, and leaned in to kiss you. You happily kissed back. Within the midst of your kiss, your tails intertwined with the other, and you felt like you were floating again, but this time it wasn’t Hyunjin’s range of melodies, it was a tone that felt like love. You felt whole and safe. You didn’t freak out about the mermaid tale that now lined your body.
Hyunjin moved away from your lips, grabbed your hand, and swam you towards the surface of the water. After breaking the surface, you began to speak, but he stopped you. “Don’t freak out. You will be fine.”
The second his tail was entirely out of the water, he had legs again, and he helped you out of the water where the same thing happened to you. Hyunjin grabbed you again, and held you into his lap bridal style while leaning against a rock. He looked at you, and you looked at him.
“Humans can’t have sex with mermaids or sirens without turning into one of us. It was a curse put on both humans and merfolk such as ourselves years ago when a human and a mermaid fell in love. However, a jealous sea witch grew envious of their relationship, and put a curse on mermaids that they’d become lust filled demons that killed humans that came near, and anytime a human had sex with one, their curse was to become them too.”
You looked at him dumbfounded.
“What the fuck?” is the only thing you can muster.
Hyunjin laughed and explained more in depth.
“I wasn’t always like this. I was a human too. In fact I was a painter whom all the ladies fell in love over. I adored it. I adored their attention. One day, while I painted by the seaside, I heard a beautiful noise come from the water. I discovered a boy peeking out of the water. He extended his arm to me, I gave him my hand, and he pulled me in. Then, things escalated, and now I’m like this.”
“But I still don’t understand the mermaids and sirens thing. And why’d you have to do this to me? What the hell.” You felt a lot of emotions, but you weren’t as mad at being a siren than you thought you’d be. Depending on the conditions, being part fish could help yourself as a pirate captain.
“I barely understand myself, but I’ll try to explain more. It used to only be mermaids. That was it. Mermaids are beautiful creatures that swim in the sea and have beautiful voices that can do all sorts of things like lure people in and make them feel better. However, mermaids were never inherently evil. Their songs were meant to lure people in for good things, like steering life away from dangerous areas. However, the sea witch’s jealousy got the best of her. She wanted to be the one the human fell in love with, but instead it was someone else. Blinded by rage, she cursed any mermaid who dared fall into the lust trap. Oftentimes mermaids are used to resemble purity because of this, and they distract themselves from carelessly falling into anything that can change that. The sirens curse, it wasn’t just motivated sex, it was killing anyone who tried because the lust was so strong. When the mermaid was first turned into this monster, she kissed his neck, but began to rip it apart. The sexual desires began to settle after the fact, like killing someone brought down the hunger. No one has been able to find an alternative. As for me turning you… I couldn’t help myself. Ever since I saw you there was something about you I needed. It ached, in ways I couldn’t explain, and I knew you felt it too.”
You stared blankly at him in disbelief. Then you spoke up.
“We weren’t coming to hurt you. My pirate ship is more of a learning experience. We discover things in the sea and tell others about it. We don’t harm anything, we just teach ourselves. Granted we know how to defend ourselves in an attack, but we came to study the mermaids, and we ended up in a killing trap. Now all of my men are dead.” Your voice turned cold by the end, just remembering the bloodshed of the battle you were ripped from for no reason.
“But you began to attack, don’t deny that.”
“It was self defense. We knew you were going to do something.”
“I don’t doubt that. Even though I haven’t always been a siren, I can’t sit back and watch my newkind get slaughtered. I will defend them, and now you will too. You’ll learn to.”
“Hyunjin, I didn’t want any of this.”
“But you were so beautiful, I had to have you. You’re mine; you belong to me. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be so off balance when I’m around, just like a bit ago when you lost everything the second I was completely near you. I hadn’t even started singing.”
He was right. You knew it too. He was the reason you felt off. He was the reason you were off balance and off guard and off everything. Now he’s the reason you’re part fish.
“You can go back to being a pirate captain, if you so please, but I am so deeply infatuated with you, I couldn’t bear you to go. I don’t ever want you to leave me, Y/N.”
It was the way he stared deeply into your eyes that made you melt. There was no convincing melody of his to convince you to stay, though you must’ve had that too now if you were one of them. But his eyes, his pleading, and the slight fear you had of him kept you put on his lap.
“Come, my treasure, explore the ocean with me.” He said, standing you up, and bringing you to the water, jumping in with you, grabbing your hand, and swimming off.
Your tail made you swim as a pace that was hard to comprehend. You were out of the grotto and near the island you sailed off of in minutes rather than the days of voyage you spent. Hyunjin showed you all about the water, pointing out friends and foe, things to eat, ways to improve your life as a merfolk.
Down in the water, the two of you faced the other where your betta fins touched, bringing you closer into a kiss. The two of you chased each other around, creating tiny waves in the water as you playfully messed around.
Resurfacing from the water and staring at Hyunjin, he sang,
“My heart is pierced by Cupid.
I disdain all glittering gold.
There is nothing can console me,
But my jolly sailor bold.”
You smiled, happy to hear this song that he sang often. He sang it about you.
But little did you know, that song is the only reason you stayed with him.
Hyunjin found you perfect, so beautiful that he couldn’t let you go. He knew you would've left the second you had the chance, but he can’t let someone he’s besotted by go, so he’ll do what he can to keep you around a little longer. I mean, he did tell you that bullshit story about sirens and mermaids. Had he been turned into a siren by a boy with a freckled covered face? Yes. Was that witchy nonsense true? Of course not. But if you believed him, who cared? He turned you into a siren on his own, so he could keep you around forever. He was going to have you no matter what.
You are his treasure, not any of the pirates, his.

litg s9: mc
i missed my old mc tags from s3/4 so bringing this back for a bit of fun. template is random questions I came up with if anyone else wants to use it or be inspired by it.
Tumblr media
Belle Hughes
FC: Olivia Moore
Age: 28
Occupation: musical theatre performer still
Hometown: Kingston-Upon-Thames
Current Location: Brixton
Which season is she from?: S3 of Love Island UK where she was coupled up with Harry. After things fizzled out with him and she was single for a while, she was invited onto Love Island Australia.
How old was she on her season?: 22 for UK, 25 for AU.
What happened after she left her season of Love Island?: she went on to get a part in Waitress where she understudied Jenna, had a role as Sandy in Grease on the West End and most recently toured with Mamma Mia as Sophie and did a short stint on the West End as Sophie.
How did she leave her season?: for UK, she left with Harry but things turned pretty sour after a boat trip - and she wasn’t going to take his shit anymore so called it off after all that. And AU - self explanatory, left in a friendship couple.
What convinced her to take part in All Stars?: she lowkey thinks she’s been done dirty on her UK and AU season but does love being part of the show. Also she thinks Rohan from S1 is attractive but doesn’t see him around at many events, so in all honesty, she was hoping he’d be on there.
Is there anything she would do differently this season to her previous experience?: yeah, not take anyone’s shit and call people out on it. And if she has to take part in a tent building activity that her LI moans about, she will kick off about it.
Best thing that happened from her season?: meeting her best friend Genevieve in LI UK and quoting H2O with contestants from LI AU.
Worst thing that happened from her season?: Harry forgetting her name in LI UK and probably leaving in a friendship couple in LI AU - she did end up feeling bad over the way Stefan was dumped but didn’t have as strong feelings as he did for her, so was glad she at least got to explore another connection.
Is there anyone she wants on All Stars?: Rohan, she thinks Rocco might deserve a second chance and would love to have Chelsea in the villa.
Is there anyone she wouldn’t want to have on All Stars?: Dylan - self explanatory.
Is she still friends with any of the cast from her season?: Genevieve, Elladine, Nicky, Seb and AJ - they all still keep in regular contact and have catch ups. Genevieve and her were best friends in the villa and remained best friends.
Any hidden talents?: other than her obvious talents from being on the West End, she can do a smashing Gemma Collins impression.
Random facts:
• the public backed her a lot during Love Island UK and she gained a lot of popularity from that which is why producers invited her back for Love Island AU and All Stars.
• she briefly worked with Cherry at a musical theatre charity show.
• there were rumours of her being linked to Lucas from various news articles, but it was all just rumours - he’d simply seen her in a show and was spotted chatting to her afterwards.
• she made a very public threads of tweets about Dylan in S4 and requested producers step in to remove him from the villa.
• she’s met various islanders from different Love Island events and has openly said Oliver is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.
• she wouldn’t mind appearing on Celebrity Hunted or The Masked Singer as other reality shows.
Current All Stars LI: Jude
Endgame All Star LI: Hamish, probably

Pairing: Jung Wooyoung (Ateez) x Fem!Reader; Genre: Fantasy AU, Fluff, Humour, a little Angst; Rating: sfw, PG-13; Warnings: the reader is slightly panicky, mentions of nudity, Wooyoung sneaks to the female side of the hot springs, he falls face first into water; Wordcount: 1.894; Event: Winter Hearts from kdiarynet; Prompt: Number 11 - “Snowing at the hot springs”
Summary: At first you wanted to decline Wooyoung’s offer to visit the hot springs together. Only the prospect of having separated hot springs for men and women changed your decision. Not that you wouldn’t want to share it with him, but keeping your secret felt more important. But, how save was your secret with Wooyoung being his typical sneaky self.
A/N: I did binge watch H2O just recently... so yeeeesssss I got inspired! I thought it is a very fun concept.. turning into mermaids by contact of water on skin. So yessss tada!
Tumblr media
“Trust me, we’ve got the whole inn for us! My aunt hasn’t opened it yet and begged me to get some people and try it. She wants our honest opinion on everything,” Wooyoung told everyone, for you don’t know how many times now.
You shot him a strained smile when he turned from the passenger seat around and looked at you and the others.
You didn’t even know how you got into this situation in the first place. Eight men and you were all shoved into a van and currently driving towards that inn, Wooyoung told you about. He initially planned to go with the guys and have a boys week but apparently his aunt wanted to have at least one female being with her. And that’s how Wooyoung came to the conclusion to drag you with him.
At first you didn’t mind it until he told you about the hot springs. You had immediately refused to come since you knew you would get in trouble near water and the boys. But Wooyoung insisted and only after he told you there were separate hot springs for men and women, you agreed to tag along.
It was a cosy small inn, you thought when Seonghwa parked the van in front of the entrance. A small porch surrounded seemingly the whole building, benches and chairs standing in each corner to offer a place to sit.
“Auntie!” Wooyoung screamed loudly as he stepped out of the car and walked a few steps up to the porch.
“You’re as loud as ever”, she chided as she opened the door and immediately pulled him into a hug. “It’s so good to see you again. Look how tall you got!” She pinched his cheek and mustered him from head to toe. “Should definitely come over more often!”
Wooyoung laughed and stepped aside, introducing everyone to his aunt, who greeted them the same way she greeted Wooyoung; with a big hug and some sweet words.
You could see how Yunho and San wrapped themselves happily around the smaller woman's body, loving hugs and cuddles more than anything else.
“How about you kids start to settle in while I make some tea for all of us? After that you can explore the inn and try everything before dinner. Does that sound good to you?” The woman said and smiled gently, showing teeth once the guys answered her enthusiastically.
The afternoon rolled around quickly with unpacking your luggage, the delicious tea and cookies from Wooyoung’s aunt as well as exploring the inn. As soon as you had found the ping pong table all of you had surrounded it and played against each other until dinner was ready.
You dreaded the moment one of them would bring up the hot spring, hoping they might be too tired to think about it. But luck wasn’t on your side.
“If you want you can go to the hot springs now”, the older woman said while cleaning the table, “it’s about to snow soon, which makes it almost magical.”
A pained smile appeared on your lips when she looked up at you. Yeah, magical, you thought. “I feel tired, so I think I’ll head to bed”, you mumbled and faked a yawn. “Have fun at the hot springs.”
“Forget that, this instant!”
“What?” You turned around with wide eyes at Wooyoung’s outburst.
“You’re coming with us! The hot spring is exactly what we need after the long ride!” He grabbed your hand and dragged you once again along, the others following the both of you with silent snickers.
Wooyoung opened the door to the changing room for females and pushed you inside, leaning his head in and whispering “see you in a bit”, before he closed the door again.
You heard them get into the changing room for men right beside you, hearing their loud banters and excited laughs.
“What do you mean with ‘in a bit’?” You worried, gnawing on your lower lip. Hopefully he meant seeing you after the dip into the hot springs. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, trying to ease your nerves. Still, you walked with tense shoulders outside, clutching the towel tightly around your body.
A tall wooden wall separated your side from the boys, making you calm down slightly. There was no way one of them could sneak a glance at you with that wall.
You turned your gaze towards the hot spring itself. Large rocks were draped around the hot water and steam spiralled into the cold air.
A smile graced your lips and you placed the towel near the spot where you walked into the water. You sunk down until only your head would have been seen. As soon as you settled down you felt the familiar tingle through your body, small bubbles rippling through the water from the change.
When you lifted your lower body slightly a fin and long tail appeared at the surface instead of your legs and feet.
As long as Wooyoung’s aunt wouldn’t join you, you thought you were safe to relax a little.
That was until you heard the harsh whispers from the other side of the wall. “Wooyoung!” “You can’t do that!” “Are you crazy?!” “What if your aunt finds out?”
“Oh, just be quiet and relax!” Wooyoung quipped, climbing up the wooden wall. He swung his leg over the top and breathed out in relief. For a moment he just sat on top of the wall, glancing down to both sides.
While he saw his friends all standing in or out of the hot spring, staring up at him, he couldn’t see you anywhere. He frowned slightly since he was sure he heard you walk out. “Y/N?” He whispered loudly, trying to find you within the steam.
“What are you doing?” You whispered harshly back, staring in fear up at his form. You had pushed yourself into the furthest corner, hoping to stay completely hidden from his eyes.
“Joining you!”
“Are you crazy?”
“Don’t be a puss! I have my swimming shorts on and I don’t want you to be alone!” He told you, when a shiver ran over his body. The air was colder than he expected, so instead of waiting for your answer he climbed down on your side.
You panicked. “But I don’t have any clothes on!”
“Relax, I’ll stay at the other side of the hot spring! And there is enough steam so I won’t see anything.”
This didn’t calm you at all. After all, the hot spring wasn’t that large and you knew your tail took up a lot of space in it. “I swear to god, Wooyoung, please!”
It was too late. Wooyoung landed on your side and quickly rushed into the water, trying to warm his quivering body again. “See? It’s totally fine.” He still looked around, trying to find your form within all the steam.
“Please”, you begged on the verge of tears. He was too damn close and you didn’t want him to find out, too afraid you would lose your friendship with him and the others.
Hearing your distress, Wooyoung tensed. Something was wrong, he could tell, but he couldn’t fathom what exactly. He already saw you once nearly naked when you had forgotten to take new clothes with you into the bathroom at his place. This couldn’t be it.
He slowly walked over to where he mused you were hidden. “What’s wrong?” He whispered, this time silent enough so only you would be able to hear him.
“Please, don’t.”
“Y/N? What’s wrong?”
That was the moment he collided with your tail and fell face first into the steaming hot water. Wooyoung pushed himself back up, gasping loudly for air.
“Did something happen?” The concerned voice of Seonghwa shouted over to your side.
“I just slipped!” Wooyoung answered. “Everything is fine!”
But in reality nothing was fine. He had used your tail to push himself back up, his hands still resting on it. He slowly let his hands wander, amazed by the feeling it gave him. This wasn’t just a simple stone. Before Wooyoung was able to touch more it was forcefully pulled out of his hands.
“Y/N?”
“I’m sorry”, you whimpered quietly, trying to keep your tail as far away from him as possible.
Wooyoung quickly followed your whimpers until he found you pressed against the rocks with your back facing him.
The steam cleared slightly and he caught sight of the scales that were sparsely spread over your back and got more and more the lower his gaze wandered. Wooyoung gulped visibly when his eyes landed on your large tail, half hidden underneath the water.
“Woah”, he exclaimed loudly before he could think, alarming the others again.
You flinched visibly when they called again, asking what happened.
Wooyoung saw you trembling violently, hiding your face away from him in your hands. He quickly looked around, trying to find some sort of excuse why he sounded so stunned. In his search he looked up, seeing snowflakes falling to earth. They melted from the hot steam before they could reach the water surface.
“It’s snowing!” Wooyoung called, pointing into the air, even though his friends couldn’t see it. “Auntie was right about the snow! Just look! That’s amazing!”
As soon as he heard the stunned awes and uhs, he crouched down next to you in the water, letting himself sink into it until his whole body was covered up to his chin. “I’m sorry”, he whispered and watched your reaction carefully.
You tensed shortly and sank deeper into the water as well before you turned around and looked at Wooyoung with wide eyes.
“Is that the reason why you never joined any pool party or only went to the ocean swimming when everyone else was sleeping?” He asked and nodded towards your tail without breaking eye contact with you.
You nodded, still stunned to silence.
Wooyoung looked at you, sadness clouding his entire face. “You must have felt so lonely.”
Once again you hadn’t expected to hear him say something like that. You couldn’t help yourself but to nod again.
“You could have told me. Told all of us. You’re like family and we would have been with you!”
“I was afraid”, you whispered, blinking away some stray tears, “I still am.”
“There is no need to be afraid but I understand.” Wooyoung nodded and opened his arms, indicating you were safe with him. “We can keep it a secret for now. We should reveal it though, maybe during our next beach holiday.”
You chuckled lightly, making Wooyoung grin triumphantly. “Thank you”, you whispered and pushed yourself into his arms, hugging him tightly.
“No need to thank me for that. Let’s relax for now and enjoy the first snowfall.”
You nodded and turned just a little, leaning your head against his shoulder to look up into the sky. Slowly all your fear and nervousness dissipated, just like the snowflakes above you. Within Wooyoung’s arms you felt somewhat secure as if nothing could harm you. A small smile spread over your lips and you snuggled closer against Wooyoung.
“I will bombard you with questions later though.”
You snickered and nodded shortly. “That’s okay.” For now both of you just enjoyed the spectacle above your heads. It was truly magical, just like his aunt had said.

For the Fluff Prompt can you do 35,72,78 I think they fit really well together and you can pick the couple I just love the prompts together
Okay so I’ve been wanting to write something for @kihoori‘s  BBHS AU for a bit now, and finally I got a prompt that I really enjoyed and wanted to work with. Now, to make this veeeeery clear, everything I write/do for this AU is not canon. As in, this is not what happens in the story. This is just a spin-off that I got permission from Kihorri to write. Whatever she does in the story probably won’t have any similarities to this drabble.
That being said, enjoooy (this is the longest drabble because she inspired me with her art so yeah. >.>)
Pairing: H2O Vanoss Number: 35/72/78 Prompt: “You keep saying that we’re friends but you look at me for a moment too long for that to be true.”/“You keep that photo of us in your wallet?”/ “Don’t pretend that you don’t feel the same way.”
“Yo.” Vanoss snickered when his surprise greeting made Delirious jump in his spot on the grassy hill. Hands fumbled with the leather wallet Delirious held, which had been what had made it easy to sneak up on the student without him knowing.
“Wh-what the hell! Don’t jus-just jump up on someone like-like that.” The frown was a common look for the other student recently. Vanoss tried to ignore it when dropping down next to him, enjoying the softness of the grass. He wasn’t sure why he’d sought out Delirious; they hadn’t really hung out alone since their blowout argument. It just felt...strange. The tension was hard to ignore between them, and despite his best efforts, Vanoss’s mind couldn’t fully forget the kiss that Delirious had given him. Back then, he’d been angry and mortified, unable to understand why the kiss hadn’t felt as repulsive as he wanted it to. They’d fought, then reconciled, but the cloud of apprehension that surrounded them was unable to be ignored.
The worst part was, it wasn’t fear or disgust that made Vanoss so tense. It was confusion, uncertainty, and the subtle need for answers that made him avoid situations like the one he was currently putting himself in. It was clear, from Delirious’s inability to meet his gaze and his body twitches, that he was also nervous. For someone as neurotic as his classmate, that wasn’t normal. Delirious went into situations without abandon, which resulted in more disaster than success. But he did it with a good heart, and his candid nature was why most people generally enjoyed his company. It was why Vanoss had liked him, even when Delirious gave him the cold shoulder at first. Or, he’d thought that was why he’d always looked for the loud student, but now...
“Not my fault you're deaf,” Vanoss teased, hoping the words would be taken as a joke. The flustered noise that came from Delirious made him laugh, some of his previous tension melting out of his shoulders while listening to the other’s reply.
“I’m not! You’re just a-a ninja owl!”
“That doesn’t even make sense.”
“You don’t make sense,” Delirious grumbled, glaring toward the school’s athletic fields. Before Vanoss could ask what the other was doing alone, he picked up on the weird way Delirious yanked the wallet closer to his chest. It looked out of sorts, a dollar and the edge of some piece of paper hanging out the top as if Delirious had been looking through it. But why would he need to do that? Wouldn’t he know his wallet best? Curious, Vanoss leaned closer, holding his hand out.
“Hey, let me have a dollar.”
“Why?”
“Because I owe Wildcat money.” He wasn’t sure if that was true (probably was, he always ‘borrowed’ his friend’s cash when he forgot his lunch), but it was a good enough excuse for Delirious to believe. Delirious flinched back, hands clutching the leather tighter in obvious anxiety.
“Uh, I-I don’t have money,” he answered, despite the dollar bill hanging out of the fold.
“I can see it.”
“Well, I- there’s just- hey, don’t-don’t get so-” Vanoss shut down any other excuse when he pushed closer, his arm brushing against the firm shoulder next to him to reach for the wallet. The proximity seemed to distract Delirious’s reflexes, and he only tensed after Vanoss had gotten his fingers around the wallet in his grasp. “Wait!”
A spasm from Delirious’s wrist when their fingers brushed sent the wallet flying to the ground in front of them, rolling a couple feet down the hill. Random items poured out that had no business being there, like a gum wrapper and a paper that’s ink had obviously been ruined by some type of liquid. The dollar popped out as well, but that wasn’t what caught Vanoss’s attention.
“What is…” He was moving before he could think of finishing the sentence, unsure of how to process the final item that had spilled from Delirious’s wallet. The photo was old, edges crinkled and the image faded from the years that had passed. Seeing himself so young was surprising, but what truly caught him off guard was who else was in the photo. His little arm was wrapped around a younger boy, the blue eyes and wide smile far too familiar. Their faces were covered in mud, as if both had been playing for hours in the rain, but neither looked upset. If he was being honest, he looked...happier than he’d been in a long time. And as strange as it sounded, Vanoss remembered the moment captured in the photograph. He’d been young, so the face and name of his long lost friend had eluded his terrible memory years after he’d moved. But the feelings he’d had were permanently settled in his head. That day had been one he’d cherished. Delirious had never mentioned knowing him when they were younger. Except the picture proved he knew, from day one, who Vanoss was.
Why hadn’t he told Vanoss the truth?
“What is this?” Vanoss asked, slowly turning to Delirious in shock. Guilt and pain rushed through Delirious’s wince before he moved to grab his wallet, trying to throw everything back into the leather.
“Nothing.”
“It’s not nothing, you...you keep a photo of us in your wallet? Why?” Vanoss’s eyes were wide while he stared at Delirious, who panicked and tried to shove the incriminating picture back into its spot. But stubborn as it’s owner, the photo refused to be hidden again, crinkling instead of sliding into the crevice.
“I-I just- it fell in there.” The embarrassment owned his friend’s voice, and the blue eyes that refused to make contact with him proved that this wasn’t something Vanoss was supposed to know about. Then again, with the strain in their recent friendship, the fighting, kissing (which they still hadn’t talked about) and the aftermath of the break-up with Ohm, Vanoss could understand the other’s fear.
“Del.” His voice tripped up on the nickname, not having said it since their fallout. The ghost of pain that shadowed Delirious’s face proved he’d noticed Vanoss’s hesitation in using it, too. It froze the frantic rush to hide the evidence, and Vanoss reached forward to cover the hand that clutched the picture. “We need to talk about it.”
“I can’t, so w-we should just forget you saw-that you’d seen it.” Delirious answered quickly, and the tremble of the fingers under his own proved to Vanoss that it was fear coloring his friend’s tone. He didn’t want to hurt either of them anymore than the mess of their previous fighting had. But Vanoss knew if he let this moment go, if he let Delirious shove everything back down, it may never come back into the light of day again.
“Does this have something to do with why you kissed me?” Vanoss finally asked the question that they’d been avoiding for weeks, ignoring how warm his face felt to stare Delirious down. A quiver of Delirious's lip proved he didn’t want to answer, but Vanoss held out long enough to force him to respond.
“Vanoss, if we’re fr-friends you won’t-”
“Are we friends?” Vanoss asked, watching Delirious jerk his head up in shock before continuing. “None of this feels friendly. Friends don’t have the tension we do. Friends don’t keep secret pictures of each other in their wallets, or spy on each other in bushes.”
“Wait, what?” The blink proved he didn’t know about Vanoss’s first moment of realization regarding his feelings toward Delirious. But that could be talked about after, along with the picture and everything else they’d hidden from one another. For now, Vanoss brushed his thumb against Delirious’s hand, feeling the softness of his skin. It was just enough encouragement for Vanoss to push his own comfort levels, meeting Delirious’s stare head on.
“Friends shouldn’t kiss, shouldn’t think about each other or feel butterflies when they touch.” Delirious’s eyes flickered down to their hands at Vanoss’s confession, which hadn’t separated despite the obvious tension in the conversation. He didn’t pull away, and when Vanoss felt the other’s thumb hesitantly hook around his, he lowered his voice to a whisper. “Friends shouldn’t think about each other when they’re with other people. Because friends shouldn’t have...these types of feelings.”
“Vanoss, I…” Somehow, he knew what Delirious wanted to say. That he didn’t deserve Vanoss, that he’d broken their trust and ruined something good between him and Ohm. Maybe that he was worried what others would say about them getting together. What if their friends turned their backs on them? There were lots of problems that could come out of Delirious admitting what he’d been so desperate to hide before his slip up. Probably more if Vanoss accepted his confession. But Vanoss, feeling the clench of his heart when seeing Delirious’s shoulders slump, knew he didn’t care about anything but the boy sitting next to him.
“You keep saying that we’re friends but you look at me for a moment too long for that to be true. And I don’t mind that. I...I don’t think I want you to look at anyone else.” Slowly, Vanoss leaned forward, unsure if he’d be pushed away when his forehead brushed against Delirious’s. “That doesn’t feel like friendship to me. So if you kissed me because you like me, then you have to tell me. Don’t pretend you don’t feel the same way.”
“The same? Like, as in- yo-you like me?” Hope that had been so rare recently in Delirious’s eyes sparkled, and Vanoss glanced away to hide his own embarrassment.
“Don’t act so surprised-hey!” Vanoss shouted in protest when he was pushed backwards, gravity bringing both of them down the hill. Grass and dirt stuck to Vanoss’s jacket when he finally stopped rolling, the heavy weight of Delirious on him making it hard to breathe. The dizziness of the fall had him taking a moment to try and catch his breath.
But a second later proved the attempt was useless; his lungs lost their ability to function when Delirious leaned down, quick to capture his lips in a kiss. This time, there was no frustration, no bitter edge to the taste of the mouth pouring unspoken affection into the connection. Delirious’s hands were gentle, not forceful, cupping his face, tilting his head up from the ground to seal their lips closer together. A rush of endorphins clouded Vanoss’s mind, but his mouth didn’t need much prompting to accept the kiss. The murmur of athletes and students cheering on the fields in the distance were simple background noise to the quiet breeze that swept over them, lulling Vanoss’s body into a relaxed puddle against the grass. Delirious settled over him as one kiss turned into two, then another when Vanoss fisted his hand in the hoodie and pulled him closer. Finally, the sharp noise of the afterschool bell pulled them apart. Vanoss opened his eyes quickly, wanting to catch Delirious’s first reaction before he hid it. The awe he found staring down at him was unexpected, but a good sign.
“I like you!” The blurted out confession made Vanoss squawk in surprise, sure his face flushed in embarrassment.
“Don’t just shout it out like that!” He snapped, but Delirious’s smile proved that he didn’t mind the scolding. Carefree as the guy that Vanoss had fallen for, Delirious laughed loudly, pulling both up into a hug that Vanoss melted into much too quickly for the confession not to be reciprocated.
“I really like you, Vanoss.”
“Yo-you just said that, idiot.” He leaned his forehead onto Delirious’s shoulder, trying to hide his words into the thick fabric. “But...me too.”
They had a long way to go, which Vanoss knew from the slight nips of guilt still tugging at his heart. There was no telling what would happen when they left the hill they confessed on. Friendships were still tentative with their group, and neither knew how the others would react. They could have chanced everything for one moment of happiness. For now, they felt strong, but what if that wavered when reality set it? All of these thoughts were a possibility.
But peeking at the photo that sat innocently on the grass beside them, Vanoss had a feeling it was going to be okay.

Moonstruck
So @teamdoesminecraft made an au a while ago with Team Crafed and the series H2O: just add water. And like, at the beginning of the year we talked about a scene for it on her Discord server. So I decided to write it now.
Inspiration is weird.
Uh, enjoy Angie.
It was a nice summer evening out on the Gold Coast, the full moon was rising high over the sky, and most teenagers would be out partying in the warm air or on the beach.
Mitch hated this. He wanted to go out, have fun and try to forget the hell that was now his life, but he couldn't. The fear of touching any water while outside was too much.
For months now Mitch had wanted to prove mermaids were real. He'd been saved by one long ago from drowning and saw it! No one believed him, but he never let that stop him. He'd pushed everyone away in his attempts to find the truth. But no matter how much he wanted to prove it, that did not mean he wanted to become one! It had been a full month, and now he was utterly stuck dealing with this all alone. He couldn't trust anyone and those he could trust wouldn't want to see him. He couldn't blame them, but it didn't make the loneliness any better.
He hated being stuck inside and just wanted to get out for a bit. It wasn't too late so it wasn't like he'd get wet just walking the streets, he'd be okay right? He got up and grabbed his keys, putting on his jacket and heading for the door, opening it up and blinking up at the bright full moon shining down on him.
~~
Jerome had been invited out to hang out with Quentin Ian and for the night but he had turned them down. He wanted to spend some time at home playing video games. He'd typically invite Mitch over to play as well, but the two weren't exactly on speaking terms these days. Mitch's crazy quest to prove mermaids were real was destroying him, and Jerome didn't want any part of that. The final straw was when Mitch nearly drowned on the way to Mako island, and he got yelled at for saving him. If Mitch wanted to kill himself trying to prove something impossible, then fine by him. See if he cared.
"Biggums!" A familiar voice called out outside in his backyard.
Jerome tuned him out, he didn't want to talk to the other.
"Jerome Come Out! I Wanna Show You Something!" he could hear snickering in Mitch's voice. The other was probably drunk or something. All the more reason to ignore him then.
Mitch kept calling out outside until Jerome heard a large splash from his pool outside and a laugh. Of course, the idiot fell in.
Jerome rolled his eyes and paused his game, going to the window and opening it up "Dammit Asshole! I don't wanna talk! Get out of here bef-" his words died in his throat.
Mitch was swimming in his pool, that much he expected. What Jerome wasn't expecting was the enormous gold and orange fishtail swaying where Mitch's legs should be. For a moment, the rational part of him tried to rationalise that this clearly had to be a costume, but something told him that this was real.
Mitch had a stupidly happy grin on his face and waved at Jerome "Come down! Come and look at it!"
Jerome could only give a small nod and closed his window. Walking down the stairs, he felt like his mind was racing. Mitch had a tail. Mitch was in his pool with a fucking tail! What the hell was he supposed to do?! Plus that meant Mitch really was right the whole time! Fuck, Mitch was never gonna let him live it down.
When he finally worked up the courage to go into the backyard, Mitch just grinned and waved happily, swimming up to the edge and resting his arms on the stone edge.
"Uh… Hey…" Jerome muttered still standing at the edge.
"Wanna come for a swim?" Mitch smiled "The water's so niiiice."
Jerome blinked "Uh, you don't seem concerned by the fact you have a tail…"
"I know!" Mitch grinned at that, pushing away from the wall with his arms and admiring his tail that swished in the water "Isn't it pretty?"
"I mean, yeah. But… how?" Jerome murmured in shock.
Mitch didn't seem to hear the question or ignored it, happily running his hand along the scales of the tail "I told you merpeople were real." he snickered "Cause I am one now!"
Jerome could tell something was definitely wrong with Mitch. Mitch was a dumbass, but he wasn't this much of a dumbass "Uh, Mitch, have you been drinking or something?"
"Just the moonlight. It's so pretty, isn't it?"
"... Sure."
Mitch reached out with his hand and tried to reach Jerome's leg "Come swim!" he cooed.
"Uh, In a minute." Jerome smiled nervously taking a small step back "Just gotta make a call is all."
Mitch seemed satisfied with that answer and beamed "Okay!" he nodded before going back to entertaining himself in the water.
Jerome quickly raced back in and grabbed his phone. He had no idea who he was supposed to call but found himself calling Ian's number. He'd hung out with him and Quentin lately since cutting ties with Mitch. They were also pretty secretive so he hoped they'd be willing to keep one more secret.
"Hello?" Ian's voice yawned on the phone after picking up
"Uh hey Ian, where are you now?" Jerome asked, his foot tapping on the ground tensely
"At Quentin's house? I did invite you over, right? The offer still stands."
"Well yeah, but… Look can you guys come over? I need your help."
"Why? What's wrong?"
"Uh…" Jerome looked back out the window at Mitch still happily swimming in the water, his tail flipping out water and soaking the deck with pool water "Mitch came over and-"
Ian sighed "Jerome, I told you, don't listen to him. He needs time to learn his lesson and-"
"No, Ian, you don't understand! Mitch is my pool right now with-"
"He's not drunk, is he?"
"Mitch is in my pool with a fucking fishtail where his legs should be!" Jerome yelled into the phone.
There was silence from the other line before Ian's voice spoke in shock "What?"
Jerome quickly explained what had happened, and he heard Quentin groan in the background and mutter something about the moon. Ian sighed again "Alright alright, we're coming over. Just, keep Mitch quiet and not draw attention. The last thing you need is neighbours checking him out."
Ian hung up quickly after that and Jerome put his phone down. He walked back out to the pool and sighed, watching Mitch happily swimming. He sat down by the edge and watched Mitch come swimming over, still grinning like an idiot.
~~~~
It took a while and a lot of trying to keep Mitch from splashing so much, but Ian and Quentin finally showed up, taking the side door into the yard and staring at the sight in shock.
"Hey, Ian! Hey Quentin!" Mitch grinned "I told you they were real! See?!" he gestured to his tail happily.
Quentin groaned and smacked his forehead while Ian looked at Quentin "I told you he'd blow it eventually."
"Shut it, or I'm pushing you in with him," Quentin grumbled.
Jerome got up and stared at them "How are you guys so calm about this?!"
Ian raised an eyebrow "Why the hell do you think Jerome?"
After a minute, Jerome blinked in shock "You mean to tell me Mitch was right about you guys knowing something about merfolk?" he demanded
"Look, do you want our help or not?" Quentin demanded
"Help with what? I've never been better!" Mitch grinned
Jerome looked at Mitch and sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose "What's wrong with him?"
"The idiot went and got himself moonstruck." Quentin explained, shaking his head at Mitch in disappointment "The full moon can have different effects on merfolk depending on the planets and or what they're doing and stuff. We're just lucky he didn't go to the beach or something and expose himself to a crowd or something."
"Well, how do we turn him back?" Jerome demanded
"Well he won't go back to acting normal till the moon sets, and we need to dry him off as well."
It took a solid hour to get Mitch out of the pool. He kept insisting he just wanted to swim. They only managed to get him out when Jerome got in the water to lure him to the edge so Ian and Quentin could grab his arms and pull him out. Jerome got out as well, and after using a towel to somewhat dry himself, he wrapped it around Mitch's tail it to help carry him inside to Jerome's bed. They initially tried to put him on the couch, but the merman flopped onto the floor and started pulling himself back to the pool.
Once Mitch was reasonably dry, Quentin explained they just had to wait till morning now and that they'd properly explain everything to Jerome and Mitch.
They two left downstairs after that to go sleep on the couches while Jerome sat on a chair next to Mitch on the bed.
"So, uh… you're really a merman now.?" he asked, trying to break the ice since they hadn't spoken in a good month.
Mitch nodded "Yep. isn't it cool?"
"Yeah but... you have your own pool at home… why come here?"
"I wanted to see you." Mitch smiled and gave a small yawn "Missed you."
Jerome blinked "You missed me?"
"Mm-hmm." Mitch nodded, snuggling into the bedsheets "I've been a real meanie to you."
Yeah, he was definitely not all there at the moment, Mitch rarely ever admitted he was at fault.
Jerome sighed "We'll talk more tomorrow biggums, you've got a lot of explaining to do." he muttered, getting up and leaving to sleep in the guest bedroom while mitch happily fell asleep on the other's bed.
~~~~
Mitch's head hurt like hell when he woke up the next morning. Fuck, had he been drinking or something? He couldn't remember anything from the previous night. What happened?
When he realised where he was, however, he grew pale and swore softly. Oh God, what was he doing in Jerome's house?! In his bed?! How drunk was he?! He was still clothed thankfully, so it seemed like nothing had happened, but he really didn't want to know or be proven wrong.
He could hear the shower going in the bathroom next door, Jerome was probably in there. It was probably best if he left now. He didn't want to be caught in the awkwardness that would be talking with him after the last time they spoke did not end on good terms.
He got out, and after making sure he had his keys and phone, he tiptoed down the stairs and to the front door. He could see two figures sleeping on the couches but didn't stay around to see who in case they woke up.
Once out the door, he practically sprinted back home, slamming the door to his house behind him once inside, his mind racing.
His phone rang, and he could see it was from Jerome, but he let it ring out. He didn't want to talk, he didn't want to see him. It was better if he didn't try to remember that night.
But nothing major could've happened that night, right?

High school AU
Pairings: 0027 (EnmaTsuna) and pre- BluebellYuniMami
Disclaimer: I don’t own Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
FF.net | AO3
You can find my fic master list here.
‘’Yu, please, I’ll give anything! Just go to the game with us!’’ Tsuna tugged at his hair.
‘’You’ve done stuff with Enma plenty of time alone. Don’t sell yourself short, aniki.’’ Gently, Yuni took his hands in hers, leading them away from his abused hair.
‘’That was before he was my Almost-But-Not-Quite-Boyfriend! It seemed sensible not to talk about feelings before! Just conceal, do feel, but HIDE THE CRUSH! But now I don’t know if it’s a date or not! I’m going to be awkward and embarrass myself and I hate asking you this but-‘’ ‘’Tsuna-nii, please stop hyperventilating. If it means that much to you, I’ll come.’’
There went her Friday evening. Yuni missed her warm blankets already
The first five minutes of the date-not-date-haha-who’s-kidding-anyone? (Tsuna-nii wasn’t fooling anybody ever), went a little like this:
‘’So… My sister’s playing forward. If she’s put into the game, that is. She’s only a first year- maybe you share some classes? She likes science and Tsuna mentioned you did too, so…’’ Enma fiddled with his jacket. The tips of his ears were red, and he kept sneaking glances at Tsuna, sliding his hand closer every time he thought the other wasn’t looking. ‘’Oh, wait, I’m pretty sure I put the food somewhere in here-‘’ he bend over hastily as if not giving them anything right away was a crime.
Yuni covered her mouth to mask her giggles. Tsuna-nii looked at her, eyes wide with panic. You okay? She mouthed, lowering her hands.
How is he so cute?! Taking a quick look at Enma, head practically in his bag by now, Tsuna wailed silently. Yuni bit her lip, trying not to laugh, but Tsuna’s flailing made him fall off his seat, right into Enma. Who had cola bottles in his hands. Open cola bottles, apparently, because they smacked down, brown liquid drenching their clothes.
‘’Ow!’’
Yuni burst into laughter. Tsuna whined pitifully, his face buried under Enma’s arm, the rest of him draped on top of the redhead.
‘’Are- Are you okay?’’ Enma craned his neck to catch sight of Tsuna, patting his back all the while.
Tsuna shot up, turning beet red. ‘’Yes, yes! My fault! I didn’t mean to knock you over, I’m so sorry! I mean, you’ve got a really nice chest and-‘’ Realizing what he’d said, squeaked, trying to retreat into his sweater like a turtle into his shell.
Enma, half-way to getting up, stumbled to the floor again. Dazed, he raised his head. ‘’You too!’’ Cola dripped off his nose as he looked at Tsuna, flush creeping down his neck. ‘’Um. I meant. I mean. You-‘’
‘’Should probably go clean up,’’ Yuni said.
Tsuna nodded frantically and Enma began to make way through the crowd, slipping through with a surprising ease for someone whose back width was regularly mistaken for a closet.
They’d be fine. As long as they didn’t remember they were heading to the same bathroom. Where they would be alone.
Never say Yuni didn’t have wingwoman skills. She did. She was just subtle about it. She was also pretty sure Enma had shaken those bottles because of the nerves, but some things were just fate.  Or a riot. Yes, that they certainly were.
Her smile disappeared quickly after that. She should have stayed home and watched a movie like she had planned. The crowd is far too loud, the big spotlights too bright, and there was so much colour it hurt her eyes. Hugging herself, Yuni buried her head against her knees. She couldn’t shut the roaring noise out, and I felt like the crowd was moving in on her. She wanted to go home.
No. She’d come here to help Tsuna-nii. His happiness was more than worth facing a little social exhaustion and crowd-phobia.
…But Tsuna-nii wasn’t here anymore and he and Enma had certainly looked like they were going in the right direction. No one would mind if she snuck away, right? A small first year, nobody would even notice. Looking around, Yuni sighed. Not an option. Both Enma and Tsuna would panic and it wasn’t like she had a ride home without them.
Oh- there! Her brother and his almost-but-not-quite-boyfriend where apologizing extensively as they stepped over people’s bags and knees in order to get back to their place in the stands. Yuni waved, but they didn’t seem to notice, far too caught up in each other.
They were holding hands.
They were sitting down.
They were…. Making out.
Right next to her.
Yuni was happy for her brother, but she’d rather not watch him swapping spit with his now-quite-official-boyfriend. Especially not when everyone was squeezed together already.
Focus on the field, Yuni. Keep your head in the game, that was the secret to shutting out any and all crowd-related fears and PDA. Green, the grass was green, the lights were bright and eyes on the ball. Focus. Focus. Focu-
A roar went through the audience as one of the players was taken out of the field, face twisted into a pained grimace. A teammate helped her sit down as another player on the bench stood up. She took large steps, like a predator closing in on the game.
A redhead. Probably Enma’s sister.
Yuni’s eyes widened as the girl walked out of the shade.
“She’s a goddamn boulder.” Staring at the broad shoulders, she covered her mouth, before quickly smoothing out her skirt and tucking her hair behind her ear.
Someone in the row in front of her turned around in a flurry of blue hair flying around her. “I know, right!” The girl beamed, “Bluebell, nice to meet you! Here to see Mami too?”
Yuni’s cheeks heated up. ‘’I’m here with my brother.’’
Bluebell took one look at the direction she pointed, wrinkled her nose and tugged Yuni over the row of chairs. Yuni let her.  ‘’Come on, we can share a seat. No hanky panky, better company and the greatest view of Mami’s back you’re going to get. Believe me. I watched the practice, I checked the angles.’’
Yuni couldn’t help but giggle. ‘’That sounds good to me!’’
Pretty girls would be the death of her someday. Especially with rugby, riots and redheads involved.
Author’s note
Bluebell totally came home, threw herself dramatically onto Byakuran’s bed, and went: ‘’Byaku-nii. I met my second dream woman today.’’
Byakuran, draped over the couch, hand supporting his head, eyes gleaming: ‘’Give me all the juicy details.’’
I was working on my characterization of Bluebell for a Byakuran-centric fic I’m writing, and @i-w-p-chan went: Now you made me think about BluebellYuniMami.
Me: Best. Pairing. Ever.
Then I did some choose games with the characters in mind and GUESS WHO GOT INSPIRED? (and was egged on by M-chan *grins*) Yes, that would be me.
Also, I can’t get the idea of Bluebell as a mermaid a la H2O out of my head after that conversation with @kyokosasagawa .

Gift Of The Sea
A/N:  This is heavily overdue fic for @rivendell101! I lost a bet and had to write her a fic, and finally got a firm idea, so yay!
Looking back this might honestly be a little inspired from H2O in an aspect, but other than that I just thought it would be fun to write! Love me some mermaid Natsu!
Mermaid!AU
Pairing: Nalu, Fairy tail

Part: Oneshot
Natsu wasn’t stupid.
He knew he shouldn’t be doing what he was doing. He was very much aware of the danger he was not only putting himself in but also his pod. But goddamn if Natsu wasn’t a curious fucker.
His cousin’s words.
Natsu peeked above the rock outcrop he hid behind, watching the pier as he had found himself doing everyday for the past month. He rose himself higher, craning his neck to try and see the where the wood left the white sand beach. Natsu sunk back down into the water quickly when he noticed the light reflect off his scales, his tail rising with him in his eagerness. Like he said, Natsu wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t ready to make contact yet, and didn’t need his tail’s scales reflecting light and giving him away.
Excitement made his pulse pound in his ears when he finally saw her walk along the pier and towards the water. Natsu couldn’t help his grin as he caught her gentle hum over the sound of the water lapping at the rock in front of him, her voice light and airy and little off to his sensitive ears but not unpleasant. Her blonde hair was left loose this time, tumbling low on her back. Natsu liked how it glinted in the sun, like the treasure he hoarded beneath the water’s surface, but he really wanted to know how it looked flowing in the current so much more.
And this was the problem Natsu was facing. To approach or not to. She seemed weird, coming to the pier everyday but only standing at the edge of the dock until the sun set, not even dipping the tip of her leg into the water. But Natsu liked weird. Trusted it. Not to mention that she would feed the birds around her, bringing some sort of food to throw to the scavengers before leaving again.
Natsu partially wanted to thank her on behalf of them, if only to make them stop screaming at him to do so. Sometimes Natsu hated his Gift.
Ducking beneath the water Natsu swam forward, body deciding for him that today was the day he would speak to her. Natsu blinked in relief as the water washed over his eyes and skin, eyesight sharpening as he swam. Natsu stopped when he could touch the barnacle crusted pole of one of the pier’s supports. Seaweed grew around the base, Natsu wiggling his finger at a small guppy. The fish chased his digit, Natsu laughing soundlessly as he teased the smaller fish. He cupped it in his hand, barring his teeth when a larger fish the size of his body passed by, circles predatory as it eyed the small pod of guppies hiding in the weeds. Natsu nodded to himself when his threat display made the silver fish scurry away, deciding to look for a meal in a less hostile place.
Natsu laughed when the small fish headbutted his cheek in thanks before swimming back to his pod. Deciding the girl had had enough time to near the edge of the dock Natsu swam upwards, body close to the pole and tail curling along the soaked wood so that there was less chance of being seen.
Words his pod leader had said stopped him from breaking through the surface, Natsu just inches from the dry air and revealing himself and his kind to a human. If all we do is worry about following rules then our souls will never progress.
With a grin, Natsu breached the divide between air and sea.
The girl stood at the edge of the dock, looking far away towards the sun, so lost in her own mind that she didn’t notice Natsu’s eyes watching her from her left. Natsu lifted himself higher, grip firm on the dock so her could rest his chin on his forearms, continuing to watch her. Now that he was this close he could see her face better, large eyes a deep brown, a little more sad and a little more wistful than he decided they ought to her. Her full lips were those that were born to smile.
Natsu continued to watch her in silence, growing bored the longer time dragged on and she didn’t notice him. What kind of weirdo didn’t even say hi when someone popped out of the water?
His mood brightened when an idea came to him. Natsu lifted the tip of his tail, dropping it back into the water with a loud splash. He snickered when the girl jumped, thin sleeve-strap of the cloth covering her upper body slipping down over her shoulder. Natsu thought the white colour made her skin look pretty. Natsu grinned up at the girl, eyes closing. He opened them when he heard a shrill squeak, giving a yelp of his own as he was startled off the edge of the pier and retreated into the safety of the water. His ears still rang and he glared at where he had been leaning, blowing angry bubbles with his nose.
Natsu raised his eyebrows when the girl’s concerned face came into view, eyes wide with worry as she looked at him. Her mouth was open like she wanted to say something, but nothing came out. Were all humans like this?
Slowly Natsu lifted his head back into the air, eyeing her warily incase she tried to deafen him again. He hid another snigger as he watched her eyes grow large like a pufferfish’s as she looked over him. Natsu cocked his head, taking the chance to study her more closely and head-on.
She didn’t have the gills along her neck like he did, and her skin seemed to stay relatively soft and smooth looking despite being in the air for hours on end. Aside from her paler colour, Natsu marvelled at how alike they were. A flash of white caught his eye and Natsu was lifting himself from the water in a smooth motion. The girl fell backwards with a softer squeak. Natsu hooked his thumb in her cheek, pulling her lip up so he could see her teeth clearer. He ran his tongue along his own sharp canine, confusion making his head tilt as he inspected the girl once again. How could she tear into her food if her teeth were so dull? Is that why she had looked so sad before? Because she was hungry? Natsu could understand that, he always got sad and angry when he went hungry for too long too.
Natsu grunted when the girl shoved her hand in his face, pushing him off her. He felt himself slip so the edge of the pier was against his armpits again. He pouted at her, the girl sending him a glare of her own.
“What is wrong with you?” she asked hotly. Natsu took a second, absorbing her words and voice.
“Yo,” he said, words clunky and awkward on his tongue. Human language was harsher and full of sudden breaks that weren’t in his own tongue, but Natsu was happy to add another language to his Gift.
The girl blinked at him, eyes lighting with a firey passion that made Natsu grin and cheeks puffing out. Now she really looked like a pufferfish.
“You shove your hand in my mouth and say ‘yo’?” She said between her teeth. “As if you weren’t rude enough, scaring me with your dyed hair and prosthetic gills. What are you, a mermaid performer for the Aquatic Zoo?”
None of that made sense to Natsu.
“What is ‘dye’ and ‘prosthetic’?” Natsu asked. The girl blinked at him. He blinked back. She blinked again. Natsu blinked again.
“You can drop the mermaid shtick,” she sighed, settling into a weird sitting position where she crossed her legs. At least, that’s what Natsu was told they were called. They didn’t look very helpful in swimming, so he didn’t see what was so great about them. The girl gave him one last critical look over before extending her hand to him. “My name’s Lucy.”
“I’m Natsu,” he said, deciding to ignore the mermaid comment. He didn’t really know what it meant, but he just chalked it up to how weird Lucy was.
“So Natsu, why were you putting your fist in my mouth?” she asked dryly, giving Natsu a sharp look. He shrugged, tail swirling through the water under him in pleasant waves.
“Never met someone with such dull teeth,” he said. Natsu grinned at her, satisfaction curling neatly in his chest when her eyes darted to his own sharp teeth. Natsu was proud of them, and how good he was at catching his prey with his mouth alone.
“Well I’ve never met anyone with such sharp teeth,” she bristled. Natsu noticed a light red dusting her cheeks.
“Really?” Natsu asked excitedly. “Then how do you guys tear your food off the bone?”
Lucy looked at him blankly. “Uh, cutlery? Like normal people?”
Natsu nodded. Cutlery. He’d have to ask Makarov what that was. “Wait,” Natsu said, eyes narrowing as he looked at Lucy. He pushed himself high with his arms so he was eye level with her. “Why are you sad if you can eat?”
“What?” Lucy asked, shifting uncomfortably and looking as confused as Natsu felt.
“Your eyes were sad, and I thought it was ‘cus you might’ve been weird, but then I saw your dull bad-at-tearing teeth and thought it was ‘cus you couldn’t eat, but if you can eat then why did you look sad?”
“Were you watching me?” Lucy asked, dodging the question. Natsu snorted and rolled his eyes.
“Well yeah, I was waiting for you to notice me but you kept looking at the sun like it was the last time you’d ever see it set over the water.”
Lucy blinked, turning her head back towards the setting sun again. The same forlorn look entered her eyes as she looked at the horizon before tearing her gaze back to Natsu. He felt concern bubble in his chest, an odd protectiveness coming over him for the strange human in front of him. Like when he saw a baby fish trapped. Lucy had the aura of someone who longed for freedom but was caught in a net. Natsu’s neck ached as he felt sympathy for the feeling flare in him.
“You’re a strange boy,” she said, smile fond as she looked at Natsu again. “How come you dye your hair pink?”
“It’s natural,” Natsu said, grinning at her slightly irritated look. She still hadn’t answered his ‘what is dye’ question but he thought it was more fun making her do those funny faces.
“People don’t have pink hair,” Lucy said accusingly. Natsu raised an eyebrow, pushing himself so he sat on the edge of the pier, his scales scraping against the dry wood.
“I ain’t people.” Natsu said simply. Lucy gaped at him, gaze focused solely on his tail.
“W-well that looks r-real,” Lucy said, skin having lost it’s pretty red tint and turning paler. Natsu lifted the tip of his tail out of the water, winding around Lucy’s ankle and giving her a comforting squeeze. He didn’t like it when she looked like that, he decided.
“‘Cus it is, ya weirdo,” Natsu said trying to get her to smile and pout at him. Instead Lucy screamed, panic making the whites of her eyes visible. Natsu flinched both from the high pitch and her clawing at his tail, retreating away from her and slipping his tail back into the water. Lucy had stood up, her back pressed tight against the wooden pole at the right corner of the dock. Natsu couldn’t help his hurt that his new friend was trying to flee from him. He didn’t think he was that scary, at least not to anything her size. Natsu looked over her, mentally calculating his own length. He would say that he was probably two, two and a half lengths of her.
“Oh my fucking God,” Lucy gasped, body shaking as she pushed herself away from her pole. Her steps were unsteady as she walked back to Natsu, and he flinched when his tail fell into a strong current, salt water stinging where Lucy had ripped at his scales. “You’re really a mermaid.”
“What’s a mermaid?” Natsu asked, unsure if he wanted to know the answer. He winced again when he felt a fish brush at his injury. Little bastards loved blood.
“You,” Lucy said in exasperation, gesturing at all of Natsu. He thinned his lips at her, still not understanding. Humans were weird. Or maybe just Lucy was. He lifted his tail from the water, bringing it to his lap to see how much damage her talons had done to him. “Oh, oh Natsu, I’m sorry, you’re bleeding!” Lucy said. Natsu startled when she dropped to her knees beside, the closest she had come to him yet. She was worrying her lower lip between her teeth, skin around her eyes pinched as she examined his tail. She reached her hands, pausing uncertainly just before her fingertips brushed him.
He didn’t know why, but he trusted Lucy, so he shifted his tail to finish making contact. Lucy flinched a little, and Natsu watched as awe grew on her face and her breath caught in her throat. She stroked his tail, Natsu fighting to keep a low rumble from sounding in his chest. He had always been a sucker for tail pets. He looked at his tail while Lucy inspected it, his blood a deep gold against his dark red scales. Pink and grey undertones scattered through his scales, and Natsu was proud of how shiny they could be when he remembered to take care of them. Much better looking than that Icy Northern’s blue skin or his cousin’s dark black scales.
“Natsu, why is your blood gold?” Lucy asked, fingers still running gently along the ridge of spines along the back of his tail, fins that ran along the sides of his tail laying on her bare skin revealed by the short fabric she wore beneath the fabric that covered her chest. He liked the feeling of her soft skin against him, pressing into her touches.
“I dunno. Always has been. What colour is yours?” he asked, leaning his hands back to brace him as he continued to stay above water. Natsu didn’t think he’d been above for this long in a while. Not since Igneel.
“Humans would call your tail ‘blood red’,” Lucy said with a small grin. Her thumb brushed his golden blood away from his injury, Natsu flinching when she touched a few tender scales. Lucy apologized quickly, touches gentler and lip once more between her teeth. Natsu hummed, thinking over the human phrase.
“Then I would call you hair ‘blood gold’,” he decided. Natsu grinned when she gave a thankful smile. “So Lucy, why were you looking at the sea so sadly?”
“I was thinking of my mother,” Lucy said after thinking for several minutes. Natsu nodded. He could tell from her tone and expression she had lost her mom. Natsu still got sad and angry when he thought too long about the night Igneel had disappeared. “She drowned in a boating accident when I was young,” Lucy continued to explain, not meeting his eyes. Natsu thought she might be talking to herself mostly. He hated to interrupt, but he couldn’t stop his mouth from speaking his questions around her.
“What’s drowning?”
Lucy looked away from his tail, giving Natsu a sad smile as she helf his gaze.
“Humans can’t breath underwater, and if we get water in our lungs we suffocate.” Natsu froze, horror stilling his thoughts. Lucy looked back at the sea, empty smile still on her lips. “The sea killed my mom.”
“I’m sorry,” Natsu rasped. He still couldn’t fully understand how the sea itself could kill something, but he understood suffocation. It was the worst physical feeling he had ever lived through. They lapsed into silence, watching the sun, still an hour or two away from fully disappearing.
“You know,” Lucy said softly, giving Natsu a shy smile, “I’ve never swam in the sea. My father forbade me to go anywhere near it after Mom died. We moved further in land, but I always thought it was so pretty. Snuck stories into my room after he went to bed and would read about pirates and mermaids and romances along the coast line.” Lucy looked wistful again, smile faraway.
“So go swimming,” Natsu said simply.
Lucy shrugged, shaking her head slightly before refocusing on Natsu’s face. “I wish I could. But all I can think of is sinking under the waves, watching my breath leave my body.” She shuddered, and Natsu rested his hand on her arm without thought. He smiled at her when he gave her a gentle squeeze, touches growing more familiar when she gave him an appreciative smile. Natsu wrapped his tail around her ankle again, slow and cautious just in case she tried to descale him again. Natsu wondered if all humans were as violent as Lucy. He think he’d like them if they were. He liked Lucy at least. His worries were washed away like a tail scrap in the sand when the tide rose when she smiled at him, leaving his tail where it gave her a gentle squeeze.
“So tell me about you,” Lucy said, shifting so her hands were tucked under her, no longer playing with his scales now that he was wound around her ankle. Natsu dragged the tip of his tail along her skin, the softness of something he wasn’t used to. It felt nice, and Natsu saw no reason to stop. Lucy wasn’t freaking out, even if she kept shivering every few minutes. Natsu wondered if it was because of being dry all the time. At night Natsu cooled off so quickly he couldn’t stand to be above the water for more than half an hour. He tightened his hold on her ankle, trying to let her leech some of his heat for herself.
“Like what?” Natsu asked. He cocked his head, waiting for her reply. It was such a vague question he could almost here Gajeel snapping at him to stop being a sarcastic shit. Not that Natsu was being sarcastic with Lucy. Now his cousin... Gajeel he loved to play dumb around and drive mad.
Lucy gave him a bright smile, the awe he saw before creeping back into her gaze as she looked at him. “Everything.” she giggled. Natsu blushed under her light look, scratching the side of his head. There was a lot to tell in ‘everything’ but he had no idea where to start. Lucy caught onto his dilemma as she gave him a softer smile, reaching out and running her hand along the part of his tail that would be the top of her legs. She held his fin between two fingers, rubbing it gently. “Do all mermaids have tails like yours?”
“Nah!” Natsu said brightly, happy to have a clear topic. He liked talking to Lucy. “Most mermaids don’t have scales, ‘cus they have tails like fish do, but I’m a sea serpent so I have scales. Well,” Natsu trailed off, rubbing his gills on his right, “I’m part sea serpent. My old man is a full one though! He was as long as a blue whale and could outswim any shark he came across. We lived in the Coral Forest, so our red wasn’t as bad as it is in the open sea.”
Natsu blinked when he noticed Lucy had leaned closer into him, face open as she was enraptured with his story. Natsu blushed again, no one was ever this interested in what he had to say. He looked at where her palm rested fully on his tail, her body just as warm as his where they touched.
“Are sea serpents rare? What about mermaids, how many are there? How have you guys managed to stay away from humans for so long? Smart idea by the way, most people who would look for mermaids aren’t very good ones,” Lucy rambled, scooting along the pier and closer to Natsu, her knees brushed his tail and she was so close Natsu could see light freckles over the bridge of her nose and cheeks and the flecks of rich brown in her honey gaze. He gulped heavily, mouth suddenly dry. Maybe he needed to go back for a dip in the water, but he didn’t really want to move from his spot. He grinned at her, emboldened by her curiosity and innocence.
“Didn’t you look for mermaids? How do I know you’re a good person?” Natsu teased. Lucy rolled her eyes, shoving his shoulder playfully.
“I never said I looked for them. I just read about them. They were a fairy tale to me growing up, and I have to admit my seven year-old self would be jumping for joy that you actually exist.”
Natsu snorted, poking her side with the tip of his tail before resuming his gentle rubbing. She yelped and Natsu smirked. Her eyes held a silent warning that was dampened by her puffed cheeks, but Natsu relented. There would be time for tickle fights later. “My pod says that sea serpents have been extinct for hundreds of years but they’re dumb. I mean, look at my tail!” Natsu said, pushing more of it on Lucy’s lap. She squeaked at the weight of it but left him there, Natsu silently cheering when she resumed playing with his scales. “No one in my pod has my kinda tail, except for my two cousins. And they were raised by sea serpents too, alongside me and Igneel. Wendy’s mom was blue so she was the best open water hunter, and Gajeel’s dad could withstand the pressure after the drop off where there wasn’t any sun so he was as black as smoke. The three of us found the pod we’re with now when our parents disappeared one day.”
Lucy paused her playing and looked at him, a deep understanding in her eyes. Natsu thought it was kinda funny that they could bond over the hole a parent had left in their lives. Natsu gave her hand a soft squeeze when she reached for his, intertwining their fingers. Natsu was enjoying the touches, and was struggling to stop himself from wrapping around her, cool in the places that he was hot and warm in places where the sun’s heat couldn’t be sucked up anymore.
“But our new pod’s great!” Natsu said, dampened mood dispelled easily when he thought of his family. “There’s probably about a hundred of us, I think?” Natsu said, scratching the side of his face as he concentrated. “And I know about two or so dozen more. They range from twenty to over five hundred in their pods though, so I don’t know an exact number.” Natsu shrugged, no longer caring about the other ‘mermaids’ as Lucy called them. “What about you? What’s your pod like?”
Lucy’s smile became strained and Natsu wondered if he had said the wrong thing. “I uh, don’t really have a pod.” Lucy said, running a hand through her hair. “After Mom died, my dad became distant. Neither had siblings and I’m an only child, and I think my dad got a little crazy on me not dying so he didn’t let me out of the house much. But my tutors were nice and the staff was friendly. They’d play my dumb little games with me until my dad would yell at them to go back to work.” Lucy shrugged, seemingly unaffected by her story. “And now that my dad’s gone and all my inheritance had to go to paying his loans it’s just me.”
Natsu had only followed half of her story, but he understood it enough to know it wasn’t right. Lucy shouldn’t be lonely. She should get to experience all the adventures she read about as a guppy.
“Nobody should be podless,” Natsu murmured, squeezing her with his tail. Lucy gave him a grateful smile but the light didn’t reach her eyes. When she said nothing Natsu frowned deeper before he smiled, getting an idea. “You can join my pod!”
“Natsu, I hate to break it to you but I can’t breath underwater,” Lucy reminded gently. Natsu rolled his eyes, obviously she couldn’t if water is what had taken her mother, but that wasn’t what he meant.
“We’d come up here, obviously!” Natsu said, eyeing her. She had seemed smart when they talked so he wasn’t understanding how she didn't pick up on that. “The shore is always deserted, in fact you’re one of the only humans I’ve ever seen on this part of the coast.”
“That’s because my dad used to own this section. I’ve lived at the beach house for the last month getting everything ready for it’s sale.” Lucy looked at the place where the sun was beginning to touch the water. “Today’s my last day here.”
“What?” Natsu asked, gripping her arms to face him. He had just become friends with her! Natsu wasn’t ready to let her go yet, not when there was so much to learn about one another and things to do. He had to show her all the best places to fish, and where the prettiest shells were. He had to teach her to swim!
Lucy smiled at him gently, not pulling away from where he clutched at her. “I’ll be fine Natsu. I don’t have much of a choice either way. The house’s already sold and I have to go back to work to afford my rent. It’s just life.”
Natsu pouted, tail curling tighter around her unhappily. “Come swim with me then, before you go.” Natsu said, serious as he held her gaze. Lucy looked uncertain, eyes cast towards the water like it was a dangerous eel waiting to attack her. Natsu untangled from her, slipping back into the sea wordlessly. He swam to the top of the pier, holding out his hand to Lucy. “Don’t you trust me?”
Lucy swallowed heavily, focus flicking from his hand to his face and to the water. Natsu grinned when she set her jaw nodding firmly. “I do.”
He waited in confusion when Lucy stood, removing the cloth from her top and bottom only to reveal smaller pieces of cloth that were tight against her skin. So weird.
“Okay, okay, I can do this,” Lucy said under her breath, fisting her hands beside her before shaking them out. “Promise you won’t let go?” Lucy asked him, worrying her lip. Natsu nodded, gesturing for her to take his hand again. Lucy sat herself at the end of the dock, legs bent in half and pulled tight to her body. She tentatively placed her hand in his, skin soft against Natsu's where he curled his fingers around hers.
“Promise,” Natsu said, grinning up at her as an idea came to him. He personally believed it was either ‘do all or do nothing’ and he wasn’t about to give up that philosophy now. Plus, he couldn’t wait to see what kind of face Lucy would make at him. With all his strength he yanked her hand, pulling her into the water ungracefully. Lucy yelped, scrambling as she hit the sea. Natsu cackled as he wound an arm around her waist, unable to see her through the cloud of bubbles she was making. Natsu lifted them the few inches so her head was above the water, and he grinned brightly at her sputter and glare.
“Natsu, that was mean!” she whined, clinging to him tightly. Natsu rolled his eyes at her pout.
“But you’re in the water, ain’t ya?” he purred, holding her tightly when he noticed her shaking. He supposed the water could be a little chilly, and an uncomfortable feeling lodged itself in the back of his throat when he considered if she was shaking with fear. He was able to ignore it with the dry glare she shot at him, unimpressed even as she relaxed against his chest.
Whatever she was about to say was stopped when she was suddenly yanked from his hold, disappearing under the waves. Natsu swore, diving after her quickly. He knew his cousin hated people, but if that bastard had followed him and was trying to hurt Lucy he swore he-
Natsu’s mind went blank as he froze, watching the sea swirl around Lucy in a violent ball. She was grasping at her throat, clawing it as she tried to breath. Natsu could only see parts of her where the bubbles caused by the turbulent and harsh currents parted briefly, patches of eyeline lost as quickly as they came. Natsu was pushed back into movement when one such break let his and Lucy’s gazes meet, her brown eyes desperate with fear and pain. Natsu had no idea what was happening, but he knew it wasn’t good if it made Lucy look like that. He propelled himself the several feet down in a second, but when his hand touched the edge of the ball of current is broke apart in an explosion of bubbles.
Natsu reoriented himself quickly, launching himself towards Lucy once again. She floated in the water, eyes closed and face peaceful in the unnatural stillness around her. Natsu gripped her hip firmly, pulling her tight against his chest. He stopped swimming towards the orange sky when he looked down, the feeling of only one object brushing his tail making him pause in concern. He shouted in shock when he didn’t see her legs trailing from her lower body.
Instead, Natsu saw a tail like his pod’s, skin tougher than the rest of her body but smoother, and a beautiful golden colour like her hair. Natsu inspected her more closely, gills fluttering along her neck as she breathed underwater, like him. Raising a shaking hand Natsu touched her cheek, relief flooding him when she opened her eyes, the brown clear and sharp under the water. Lucy squaked, air bubbles leaving her mouth. She clasped her hands over her mouth in panic, eyes returning to their previous wide size, like a trapped animal. Natsu shook his head, tapping her gills gently with his finger. Lucy lowered a hand, trembling as she touched her gills for herself.
She pushed away from Natsu harshly, darting towards the surface without thought. Natsu followed, impressed at how quickly and naturally she swam, her tailfin large and with an almost translucent membrane connecting the three spines, middle one shorter than the other two.
Natsu held her arms as she gasped for breath, keeping her steady. Natsu couldn’t help but notice how her hair glistened, wet and seeming to soak in the golden rays of the half-set sun.
“W-what happened?” Lucy asked, voice higher and shrieking. Natsu caught a split-second view of her teeth, sharp like his now. “What did you do to me?”
“Oi!” Natsu defended, “I didn’t do anything!”
“You had to!” Lucy said, desperate. Natsu blinked when he watched water leak out of her eyes, trailing along cheeks. Cheeks that had a bluish tinge despite her new body’s ability to withstand the temperature of the ocean. Natsu pulled her back to him, pressing his forehead to hers gently in hopes of calming her down. Lucy hiccuped, sinking against him.
Natsu brightened when an idea came to him, stories passed down by Makarov and the pod leaders before him. “Maybe it was your Gift.” Natsu murmured soothingly.
“What?” Lucy asked, pulling back to look at him.
“Your Gift. The magic the sea gave you when you were born. My Gift is that I can understand and speak with any living thing. Maybe your Gift is that you’re a Land Walker.” Lucy still looked at him like he was speaking a different language, and Natsu sighed. “You’re obviously not human, Luce,” Natsu said softly. Lucy nodded numbly, nails biting into Natsu’s arms where she clung to him.
“But then how did my mom drown if she was a mermaid?” Lucy asked, eyes leaking again. Natsu didn’t like it, and he reached out to brush the water from her face. “I’ve taken showers and baths and put my feet in a pool, Natsu! Why now? Why here?”
“The sea,” Natsu explained. “You came back to the sea. You came home.”
Lucy looked like she wanted to scream. But a thought had stolen Natsu’s attention, and he couldn’t help the giddiness that made him want to do back circles in the water or chase the fish around him. “Lucy! You’re home! You can join my pod, and never be lonely again!” Natsu said excitedly. Lucy blinked at him, long and slow as she processed what he was saying. Natsu continued to ramble on, ideas for the future bubbling out of him. “-ll love you, you’re so weird you’ll fit right in! I’ll have to translate until you learn Trenche, but you seem smart so I’m sure it’ll only be a matter of time. Happy will freak that he didn’t get to see you transform, but he’ll love you too. And-”
“Natsu,” Lucy interrupted, “I have a life on land! I-I can’t just leave it all behind.”
“What would you really be leaving, Lucy?” Natsu asked. He held her gaze, knowing he was winning by the uncertainty her expression showed easily. She looked at where the sun was almost fully hidden in the water, longing plain in her light sigh. Lucy bite her lip, yelping and lifting a hand to where her sharper teeth had pierced her flesh. Lucy startled when she pulled her hand away to see a bright teal colour, not the red she had been expecting. Lucy lifted her gaze to him, blue liquid welling on her lip. Natsu fought the instinct to taste it, not wanting to push Lucy further away. He couldn’t help but be drawn to it again, the teal the prettiest shade of the colour he had ever seen and making something possessive curl in his gut. Natsu flicked his gaze back to Lucy, who was watching him intently, her cheeks tinged a dark blue as she fluttered her lashes at him shyly. Natsu decided he liked the blue flush more than the red one she had worn earlier
Natsu held her, slow as he led her back under the water. Lucy went with him, tensing as her face slipped under the sea. Natsu watched as she took in a deep breath, eyes closing. Her hair floated around her like he imagined it would, creating her own halo of sunlight even as the sun disappeared to the stars. She was beautiful.
Natsu coughed slightly as the thought came to him unbidden. He pulled back, swimming backwards in the direction of where his pod would be, slow as he waited for Lucy to follow. Their fingertips stayed connected when Lucy slowly opened her eyes. She worried her lip again, gentler than before and drawing Natsu’s eye. He licked his own lower lip, grip on her hand tightening. Lucy looked over her shoulder, towards the shore and the life she had known. Natsu grinned when her fingers interlaced with his firmly and Lucy turned back to him with a small smile of her own.
Together, they swam to their next adventure. Natsu couldn’t wait to show her his world, a place the strange girl had already seemed to carve a permanent niche in already. Lucy looked at him, noticing his staring at her profile. She gave him a bright grin, sharpened fangs visible with the large smile. Natsu grinned back, pushing forward and releasing her hand. Lucy caught up, easily understanding his desire to race. Natsu smirked at her smug look as she passed him, tail moving through the water like she had been born to.
Yes, Lucy definitely belonged in his pod, and by his side.

Ahhh Owlbun! So I hope this fits the perimeters of a cute-meet cause I don’t know if it does but I think it does? Idk, its cute, please enjoy this mess of a story. >.> It’s a diff style than I normally do, but….hope it works out!
AU: Coffee shopTrope: Meet cutePrompt: “You had no idea, did you?”
Pairing: H2O Vanoss
If Evan was being honest, he hadn’t expected the chalkboard wall at his coffee shop to make much of a difference. The Owl Cafe was a staple in the community, and he had an okay group of regulars that liked to come in and check out his new blends on the daily. There were ones he knew by name, like the 6 year old girl Momo who loved Brian’s hot chocolate, or the late-night writer Kryoz who always seemed to appear when the place was deserted. Some regulars he didn’t catch names for, so he titled them as he saw fit; Runner man, vlogger teen, cute sweatshirt guy. All had their place in his cafe, which was steady in its sales. He wasn’t rolling in cash, but it was enough to pay Brock and Brian, so he felt that he was doing alright.
The chalkboard had been something of a whim. A friend when he was younger had a wall in his bedroom with chalkboard paint that Evan had always enjoyed drawing on before bed. When he’d bought the cafe two years ago, he hadn’t really remembered the fun times he had scribbling across the bedroom wall. He was too focused on payments and attracting customers to stroll down memory lane. That had changed three months ago when bumping into Lui, the two speaking about their times as a child. The wall came up, of course, and Evan couldn’t let the memory go for days after. Lots of his customers had children, and college kids were always quick to bore when waiting for coffee. So one night, after a really good week at the shop, Evan went out and bought the paint in order to make his wall next to the waiting area a drawing board.
The result was amazing; people loved coming by and adding their own doodles to the wall, filling it with different styles of art or funny sayings. There were always the punks who tried to draw dicks or write derogatory marks, but street justice tended to stop the crimes far quicker than Evan or his friends picked up on them. Evan enjoyed looking at the board at the end of the night, seeing what secrets it held from the customers he served. He tried to guess who drew what, or where each blurb of inspiration writing came from. Was the struggling mother of three the one who drew the calm beach? Did the preppy college girl express her darker thoughts in the corner of the board? Or was that old couple who shared a coffee really sweet enough to write their 70th anniversary with a heart around it? All of the pieces of the board was a collection of minds, hearts, and souls, and the nights didn’t feel complete for the shop owner without gazing at them in appreciation.
His favorite part was the confessions; like an anonymous message board, people left words of secrecy every day. Evan felt it was a safe way for customers to express themselves without having to reveal their identity, and so far he hadn’t gotten any confessions that worried him. Brock always enjoyed reading the romantic ones where someone would claim their love for a friend, an ex, or a person they could never have. Brian’s favorites were the weird claims; he made Evan keep the ‘I like smelling feet’ confession up for three days. Evan couldn’t really say he had a type he sought out, because all of them were fun to read. If anything, he liked taking in the handwriting of the confessions, seeing whose were quaking with fear or more broad with confidence that only anonymity provided.
It was nearly two months into owning the board that a message caught his eye; it didn’t have much color or outlandish design to it, so Evan wasn’t sure why it stuck out to him so much. But the writing just…looked different. Friendly. A little messy but with long enough strokes to show some care went into it. The words only took up a small part of the board.
I come here every day because I think the owner is nice. And maybe cute? I wanted to ask for his name, but I’m too nervous.
Evan blinked in surprise, feeling his face heat up when he read it again. Someone…confessed about him? It was sort of risky, since this was his shop and he could have checked in on the board at any time, but it was also endearing. Someone was too shy to approach Evan, but felt strong enough about him to confess on his wall? He read the line two more times while he cleaned off every other drawing and confession, leaving the words in the middle of the board. Slowly, his eyes dropped down to the basket of chalk at the bottom of the wall, fingers twitching by his side. Despite having it for months, he’d never actually written on it. He left designing the morning greeting to Brock, as he was the artistic one of the three. But now…
He kept the confession where it was, drawing a little circle around it with the red chalk. Then, with block letters bright enough to catch any returning customer’s attention, he wrote out a simple reply.
It’s Evan. Nice to meet you.
He didn’t think about the teasing Brian would rain on him, or how unlikely it was for him to get a response. The confessions were meant to be anonymous, not openers for conversation. So sure that his words would be left unanswered, Evan didn’t look once at the board the following day, trying to keep focused on making his customer’s happy. Any time he wasn’t working, he rushed into the back, trying to stay occupied so he didn’t stare at the wall. The day dragged on forever, but when the final customer was out the door, Evan nearly fell flat on his face vaulting over the counter to move to the board.
“Desperate much, buddy?” Brian’s shout from across the shop went ignored when Evan scanned the wall, looking for any sign of a response. At first, the words around the response were disheartening; nothing connected to what he’d said. The drawings were still cute, and he wanted to read the confessions, but his heart slightly dropped at the sight. Had he scared off the anonymous messenger? He felt his frown start to capture his lips, but then his eye picked up on something. A blue circle had been wrapped around Evan’s words, and a line of chalk was drawn to the left of the board. Curious, his eyes tracked the line. Like thread in a maze, Evan was led to a familiar handwriting.
Your name fits you! I’m…Jonathan. Is that okay?
“Jonathan.” He rolled the name around in his mouth, his smile small when he finished. He knew instantly what his new secret penpal was asking, and he found the red chalk from before in order to scribble out his answer.
That’s totally okay. I bet your name fits you, too, though I’m not sure who you are. Care to give me a hint?
And for the next two weeks, the hints poured out.
I like to wear blue a lot. Luke says it matches my eyes. But I think yours are prettier.
Evan counted seventy three customers with blue eyes who wore blue that day, but it did little to limit his search.
I saw you drop that lady’s coffee on purpose. She deserved it for treating Brock like that. You’re a really good boss.
The incident had been in the morning around rush hour, which probably meant his penpal was at least his age.
You only wear hats when you clean the mocha machine; it really looks good on you.
Except this was something he did at night, so maybe he had different shifts throughout the week?
Whenever little Momo comes in, you always give her the best smile. Sometimes I wish you’d smile at me like that.
Evan’s face hurt from how many smiles he gave out that day, but there had been nobody who hinted at knowing why he’d been grinning so much.
You’re so beautiful. I really want to ask you on a date.
Evan’s face flush red for the rest of the night.
After the days of trying to piece together just who ‘Jonathan’ was, Evan was almost ready to throw in the towel. The little banter between them was fun, and peeks of Jonathan’s personality came out with doodles or smilies at the end of his sentences. He mentioned his friends, his dog, and if Evan closed his eyes, he could almost make out a voice to the words. Everything just felt so familiar about this guy, like he was already seated comfortably in Evan’s life. But he just couldn’t come up with a name, or anything to sink his teeth into.
So, with a shot of courage (Brian may have supplied the alcohol) and nothing to lose, Evan wrote out one final message.
Anything but coffee, and I’ll say yes.
Evan tried not to look at the board, just like the first day, hoping he wouldn’t scare away his crush by staring the wall down. Brock and Brian helped distract him, jokingly picking out old men and toddlers as ‘his secret admirer’ before laughing at the outlandish suggestions. Evan tried to smile and joke with them, but his shaking hands when giving out the orders always proved how nervous he was. Each time a customer came up to him, his back tensed, wondering if it’d be his penpal. But they never were, always asking for sugar or a bag for their half eaten muffin.
When the last minutes of the day ticked away, and just a few regular souls lingered in the cafe, Evan finally broke. He left Brian and Brock behind the counter to walk up to the wall, hands shoved in the pockets of the apron to hide his twitching fingers. Slowly, his eyes scanned the board, trying to find the blue handwriting he’d grown to adore over the couple weeks he’d gotten to see it. But there was nothing; his crush hadn’t replied.
“I scared him away.” Evan sighed and pressed his head to the chalkboard, eyes closing in defeat. His shoulders slumped down, unable to hide his disappointment. He’d just wanted to know who this guy was, because starting to fall for a chalkboard he technically owned was starting to feel a little creepy-
“Um.” An unsure voice made Evan bite back a groan, trying to keep his composure. Even if he was being ghosted by an anonymous customer, it didn’t mean he could ignore his other ones. Pulling back from the wall, Evan turned to catch sight of a familiar face. Cute sweatshirt guy had been a regular for months, always polite but never one to really engage in much conversation with Evan or the others. He always contributed it to the slight stutter in his speech, which only seemed to come out in longer sentences. It was actually kind of late for cute sweatshirt guy to be at the cafe; he’d bought his coffee close to an hour ago, and though he normally left right after, he’d seemed to linger now. He’d been one of the people who’d come up to Evan, looking like he was going to burst out in a confession, only to ask for creamer.
And sugar.
And a new cup.
…And more creamer.
For a coffee he always drank black.
“Wait.” Evan’s breath hitched in his throat as his eyes widened on the blue gaze nervously watching him, fingers curled into the worn down sweatshirt that was identical in color.
“Yeah, I’m-that was me. Jonathan. Who you were-I’m the guy tha–that, um, fuck. Luke said I should’ve just-but the wall was…was our thing.” Jonathan’s face lit up in color at the confession, the nervous laugh that poured out loud and uncontrolled. It echoed from the emptiness of the cafe, and both men jumped when Brian swore and knocked over a stack of cups in surprise. Tagging that as future Evan’s problem, he turned his attention back to Jonathan, who looked ready to let his sweatshirt swallow him whole. The smile he gave only lifted half his mouth, proving he didn’t feel confident. “You had no idea, did you?”
“None,” Evan admitted, hands pulling out of his apron at the defeated look that sunk over Jonathan.
“Right, that’s- I don’t have to ask you on a date if this isn’t what you…if I’m not who you-”
“Ask me!” Evan cut him off fast, not wanting to let Jonathan feel rejected for a second longer. He rushed forward, snagging hands that tugged the end of torn sleeves to entwine their fingers. Blue eyes widened above him, but Evan refused to let his racing heart of reddened cheeks stop him from repeating his confession from before. “Anything but coffee, and I’ll say yes.”
“Dinner? Can I-would you like to get food with me tomorrow?” Like a puppy, Jonathan’s body perked up at the possibility. Evan laughed before lifting their hands to cup Jonathan’s cheeks. He pushed up onto his toes, feeling the slight intake of his customer’s breath before he answered with a kiss.
But just to be safe, he wrote ‘yes’ on the chalkboard the next morning.

BBS Anon Tumblr AUs
Okay, so I got a little creative last night because I had this cute idea, but then it splintered into a TON of ideas and I honestly just don’t have time to write them all, so I figured what I could do is give you all of the headcanons that I have for the couples in order to help flush the idea out of my mind. So please, enjoy these silly headcanons, and let me know what you think!! <3
AU PREMISE FOR ALL STORIES: One boy loves/likes/hates/has some feelings toward the other boy, so they make an anon Tumblr and send them an ask that leads to them talking.
Also the boys are all in college. Cause yeah...>.>
H2O Vanoss: Evan is a popular music blog “Vanoss”, Jonathan is the shy follower who sends in an unusually sweet message on New Years Eve as his New Years resolution (Luke challenges him to do something he’s wanted to do forever, and Jonathan tell him he’s going to confess to his crush but won’t tell him who it is). Jonathan has been friends with Evan for five years, and in love with Evan for two years after hearing him perform a self-written song during a charity event for the school. He intended for this to be his only ask, so he kind put a lot of feelings into it and wrote it as a submission (as Tumblr only allows 500 characters). Also, randomly reblogs a cute picture of Evan fanart. After this he goes to sleep, he wakes up to a bunch of alerts saying that “Vanoss” will be doing a surprise performance that afternoon in the school common area. Jonathan goes, wanting to see his performance (as he’s gone to all of them, being Evan’s “Good luck charm”) and hangs in the back while texting Evan a stupid good luck thing. He kinda gets surprised Evan speaks to the crowd (as he never does), and he’s kinda obviously nervous but in THE cutest way possible. Jonathan is kinda smitten by this before Evan says ‘this goes out to someone who kind of made my night, and uh… I hope they’re here listening to this. Thanks for the letter, Delirious.’ Jonathan is like ‘...WHAT’ in his head and Evan sings this really sweet/cute song. Everyone loves it, and it’s obvious that people are snapchatting it and taping it, all with the same question: Who is Delirious?! After the song, Evan gives a little smile and is like ‘If you’re here, lemme know if you like it or something, Del.’ Cue Del kinda panicking and first thought is ‘must deactivate the tumblr and get rid of all of the evidence’ but as he’s going on his tumblr, but when he goes home, he’s got +99 notifications, all of them tagging him in the video and being like ‘Respond!’ He also gets like 200 more followers (“I DON’T EVEN USE THIS BLOG”) and people sending him asks about who he is. He does kinda make a post about himself saying he goes to the school (as some people were calling him a creep/saying he’s not real) but he can’t say who he is. Cue the craziness that is Jonathan being Evan’s friend and “trying to help him” find out who Delirious is, all while trying to keep his own feelings hidden because he’s re-falling in love with Evan through their chats on Tumblr.
Okay, this one is 99% going to be written. >.> I love it too much not to.
OhmToonz: “Ohmwrecker” is a Tumblr writer, who has gotten popularity for a web-book he is doing. Luke is a friend of Ryan’s and one of the only people who knows he is the Ohmwrecker. During a moment of writer’s block, Ryan asks for people to send him motivation asks to get him back on track. Luke, bored and feelin’ some kind of way because his best friend is too busy writing his story to pay attention to him, sends a flirty anon to get Ryan to blush and then log off of Tumblr. Ryan, however, gets a little bit of courage, and ends up flirting back with ‘ Toonzy’ as the anon has labeled himself. Luke is kinda impressed with his friend, and starts sending stupid one-liners and little flirty messages that imply that he actually knows Ryan, not just ‘Ohmwrecker’. This is kinda risky for Ryan, who has kept his identity a secret from the other kids on campus. But Ryan is really into this guy, who shifts onto messenger as ‘Cartoonz’ and maybe there’s a lot of sexual stuff that happens. >.> But as they kinda heat up, Luke slips that Ryan knows him, too, and now Ryan is like ‘wait, what?? We’re friends?!’ except Luke doesn’t remember telling Ryan this because he’s drunk. Now, Ryan is trying to figure out who Cartoonz is without letting Cartoonz know that he knows that Cartoonz knows him. It’s a hot mess.
TerrorMoo: Brian is a Tumblr artist, and Brock has been sending him anon messages for a while about his art. The two of them are cordial, living in the same dormintory, and bumping into each other late at night in the community room (Brock stays up late to finish papers and Brian says he draws best at 2am). Finally one day, Brock bites the bullet and makes a tumblr, wherein one night he reblogs all of Brian’s art and leaves really sweet tags on each one. Brock also does little analysis for each one, as Brian had earlier talked about possibly stopping his career in art in order to pursue a ‘more stable job’. This ends up getting a lot of activity regarding Brian’s work, and Brian takes notice of the like, 30 reblogs/comments “Moo-Snuckle” left on his work. Brian now is on the hunt to figure out who this mystery man is, and Brock is desperate to hide the truth, thinking that Brian will realize that he’s in love with him. Also can’t stop commenting/reblogging each of Brian’s new pictures, because Brian has openly said that ‘Moo’ is inspiring him to keep going with his art. Gay-os ensues.
MiniCat: Tyler doesn’t like Mini (a semi popular movie critic Tumblr) and so he sends him an anon message (was going to send hate, but Brian tells him to send a ‘love ask’ to pull a prank on him) and Tyler kinda expects a pompous answer or him kinda gloating about people sending him love. Instead, he’s surprised when Mini is really humbled, and starts to ask questions about him, as he would like to ‘get to know the person who was stupid enough to fall for him’. Tyler’s kinda stuck now, and he sorta grumbles out a ‘you’re not that stupid’ and hence them kinda talking through asks. Then Mini boldly tells him to send him a private message to him because he wants to get to know him better. Tyler, in a panic, creates ‘I-Am-Wildcat’ and reblogs a bunch of random shit to make it look like he had a blog all along. Accidentally shares some nsfw stuff, including gay boys, and Mini is like ‘oh wow, you’re really proactive about gay rights and stuff, that’s really cool’. Tyler is actually really sorta closeted atm, so he’s like ‘....fuck’. But hey, he’s anon, so it won’t REALLY hurt, right? And it’s through kinda talking to Mini that he starts to become okay with himself, and then comes the problem; how does he tell Mini that he’s falling for him when 1) Mini doesn’t know he’s gay irl and 2) The whole thing was a joke from the beginning? (not anymore lmao)
Krii7y: Smiity had just ended a relationship and was kinda feeling like shit about it. Put a post up saying ‘Should I even keep my tumblr? It’s not like anyone would care’. Smiity ends up getting an anon saying ‘I care, you fuck.’ Smiity, feeling a little self-deprecating, starts a conversation with ‘Kryoz’ about how he’s wrong, and if he did disappear, it wasn’t like this guy actually knows him. And when the guy is like ‘I do’ and Smiity is like ‘prove it’, the guy sends a anon with Smiity’s real name. And now Smiity’s like ‘wait wtf how do you know me? Who are you?’ and Kryoz is like ‘figure it out, bitch’. And this whole story is like, Smiity trying to figure out who this person is, while Kryoz gives him clues as well as flirts kinda (in their weird way) and Smiity is so focused on this new person and figuring it out that he kinda slips out of his depression about his ex and falls for this new quirky man.
So yeah, these are my silly AUs for these weirdos involving Tumblr asks. I don’t know, I just...my brain is too full of stuff. Just had to get these out. Let me know what you think.
