#There is so much to be said about Marineford though like in so many ways it feels like a window to what was happening in Croc's head

Here’s something interesting! Read back to Marineford arc and consider what Whitebeard might have meant to Crocodile. It was only after the witnessing WB getting stabbed and talking to his adopted son that Croco did a 180 to protect Luffy. I try to read WB’s dialogue to guess what he said affected Croco so much. My favorite theory is that WB is Croco’s bio dad and thus Luffy’s other grandpa! The family tree would be so entangled lol
This is one of those things which makes me feel insane because, I swear to god, around like 2011 I remember Oda saying in an interview that he based Whitebeard on a gay friend he had, which was like part of the reason why Whitebeard's crew WAS his family, instead of him having like a wife and bio-kids. That Whitebeard was gay. But like, no matter how I try looking that up I can't actually find any information to confirm this?? Like no interview or as much as a mention of an interview like that ever existing??? DID I IMAGINE THAT??? IT'S SUCH AN OLD, CORE MEMORY, I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW I WOULD'VE IMAGINED IT UP??? OR WAS IT JUST AN EARLY 2010S TUMBLR HOAX?????? I FEEL DERANGED
Honestly, considdering the way Marco of all people found it unimaginable WB had kids, let alone that Weevil was the son of Whitebeard and Stussy (the current running theory being that Weevil is actually like a clone of WB with Stussy's DNA mixed in), I do personally find it unlikely Whitebeard has any bio-kids at all. Like, that felt like the implication there to me, that Marco doesn't believe WB had bio-kids with anyone, and I would be inclined to believe Marco there as he's kind of meant to be seen as an authority figure in a way (at least on this subject)
At most, if the "Xebec is Croc's dad" theory did turn out to be true, it would actually make sense if Whitebeard had adopted Crocodile after the God Valley incident-- whether the kid stayed is debatable, since WB did still betray his dad so he might've ran away, but regardless, at most I could see WB being Croc's adoptive father. At most. (Alternatively, as Oda has stated in an SBS, Whitebeard didn't believe women belong on a battlefield so it could be plausible he didn't want to keep a 9 year old child on his ship either. So he could've picked up Baby Croc until he found a safe place to ditch him in, kinda like how Franky ended up)
I have been feeling tempted to do a re-analysis of Croc in Marineford because, when I did my first analysis, I was too Lost In The Sauce and far too excited about the mere idea of Crocodad to form coherent, even semi-objective thoughts. But now that it's been a few months, I feel like I could really look at it with a more fresh perspective
But let's just look this exchange Crocodile and Whitebeard had really quick
As far as we know, the only person Crocodile has ever lost to (aside from Luffy) was Whitebeard, and that loss was the thing that crushed his spirit and dreams. Whitebeard, the most powerful man in the world. He who humbled Crocodile and taught him his place in the powerscaling of the world, that Crocodile was at best a silver medalist and could never catch up to him.
That must've been Crocodile's entire worldview, for so many decades. That WB was #1, an absolute fact nothing could change.
But time comes for all.
Whitebeard has become old. He is no longer in his prime.
"I can't remain the strongest forever"
Even if Whitebeard didn't say that outloud, I'm sure in this moment Crocodile understood that deep inside. That the absolute he had believed in wasn't an absolute after all, that a new era is approaching and the kids (Luffy and Ace) on this battlefield are going to take their places (his and WB's) sooner or later, whether they like it or not.
And of course; this isn't the same Whitebeard who beat Crocodile's ass over 20 years ago. Taking his head would not give him the satisfaction and catharsis he wanted.
Trying to get past Jozu and Marco and the rest of WB's crew, some of whom might be more dangerous than WB himself at this point, would not give Crocodile the revenge he wanted. It wouldn't even be worth the effort. If anything, taking WB's head here and now would just give the World Government exactly what they'd want.
Like, putting aside all the theories, your Crocodads and Whitebeard's bio-kids aside. ('Cause sometimes you need to look past the rose-tinted theory glasses even if you don't want to) (And I need to remind myself to do that more often tbh) I do think the main reason Crocodile ends up assisting Luffy, is simply because of that. Whitebeard isn't worth it anymore. He's just an old man. Crocodile could kill him, without a doubt, it just wouldn't change anything.
So he just moves onto the next thing on his list of priorities; not letting the Government get what they want, out of spite.
#Moon posting#Asks#OP Meta#Sir Crocodile#Or maybe the next thing on Crocodile's list of priorities really was protecting his estranged long lost son who hates his guts#Hard to tell until Oda spills Croc's beans#But on a surface level. What Oda wants us to believe is that Croc is just trying to be a nuisance to the WG#It is at least a partial truth#There is so much to be said about Marineford though like in so many ways it feels like a window to what was happening in Croc's head#But like seen through analogies and other characters and their relationships instead ('cause the arc is about Ace and not Croc)#IDK I'm so tempted to re-analyze Marineford it's. Such an interesting arc

Hello this is my first request for your page so if it's alright can you do "everyone knows" from the Sanji fic but make it Ace instead? Thank you!
Hi omg, I'm so sorry this has taken so long, I had to take my time because I kept getting ideas on how to do this one, and it's finally done for you!! I really hope you'll enjoy how it turned out, I love Ace and want to write even more for him, he deserves it. 💚
This is an AU; Sabo, Luffy, and Ace are in constant contact, and no Marineford issues (despite it being my favorite arc). 😌 Please enjoy everyone! (its also 7.1k words i'm so sorry)

“I told you to be careful, you know.”
“I know that, Marco. You’re not helping!”
The whine you give while Marco pats your head makes him laugh at the same time, repeating what he’s just told you as you sink further into the chair in his office. You can’t believe you let this happen, that he was right to tell you and Ace be careful when you started dating. Neither of you really understood what he meant back then, but you sure do now.
“You’re definitely pregnant. Looks like…about seven weeks, almost eight,” Marco smiles to himself when you whine again, face hidden in your hands, “I don’t see anything to be worried about, you both look completely healthy so far.”
You’re screwed, you just know it. It’s only been a few months, you and Ace haven’t even had a chance to discuss marriage or babies or anything like that. You’ve just been dating and having fun with each other.
A little too much fun it seems, considering the—what should be--good news Marco’s given you today. It really should be good news, the whole crew has waited so long for you and Ace to get together, hearing you’re pregnant would just excite every one of them.
You should be happy too, but there’s too many worries and fears taking over your mind at the moment to be excited and happy about having a baby with Ace. You two danced around your feelings for each other for so long, that no one would be surprised if you made this announcement. You’ll never know about the betting pools going on, everyone trying to figure out when you’ll either get married or have a child, and now it looks like the latter is going to net someone a decent amount of cash. (Its Marco who wins, don’t worry about it if he gets your baby something really nice.)
You bury your face in your hands, Marco just watches you at first, before sighing to himself. He’s watched you and Ace avoid the obvious feelings you had for each for years now, so when you confided to him that you were going to finally tell Ace, soon after the fire user said the same thing to him, Marco was happy for you both and your biggest supporter, he knew you guys would he happy together and he’s been right so far.
He's not at all surprised by your sudden pregnancy, you and Ace aren’t sneaky at all and he’s been expecting this for a while now. Your reaction though, tells him that you guys probably haven’t even discussed having kids or anything like that at all. It makes sense that you wouldn’t yet, it’s still early in your relationship, that helps explain your reaction. The way you have your face buried in your hands like you’re trying to hide from the world or wake up from what seems like a good but bad dream.
You probably do wish it was the flu now.
“Hey,” you peek between your fingers to see Marco crouched in front of you, one hand on your knee and a smile on his face, “You and Ace will be great parents. I know you guys didn’t plan this, but everything will be fine. I’ll make sure of that as your and this baby’s doctor.”
It almost makes you cry, though you stop yourself. You remove your hands from your face, still hanging your head when you speak up.
“…I’m scared Ace will be mad…”
“At you? Never in a million years,” Marco chuckles lightly while patting your knee, “He’d throw himself in the ocean before he got angry at you, especially since he had a part in this. Takes two to make a baby and you’re only one half of the equation.”
You know Marco is right, Ace would never get mad at you over something he had a hand in. While he may not be as excited when you tell him, you aren’t sure just what his reaction will be yet, but you know there’s no way he’ll be yelling at you like it’s your fault. Maybe Ace will be happy and excited, maybe he’s just never said he wants kids or hasn’t thought about it since you’re both still only twenty. It’s likely not in the front of his mind or something he’s thought about, you’ll have to try talking about it later with him, once you’ve settled down and worked out how to bring this up.
“…what if he doesn’t want this?”
“Do you want this?”
You stay quiet for a moment before nodding.
“I’ve…I’ve wanted to have my own family…ever since my parents and brothers died.”
“That’s all that matters then.”
You’ve been with the Whitebeard Pirates for so long, ever since you were twelve, but you still hadn’t told many of them about how you’d lost your family. The hurricane that swept through your home island and ruined countless lives while taking just as many, you were one of the lucky few to survive but at the cost of your parents and older brothers. You were beyond lucky when the Whitebeard Pirates showed up, you clung onto Pops like he was your savior and he just had to let you come along, you weren’t going to let go otherwise. Marco and Izo became your favorite people immediately, Thatch following soon after when he gave you a sweet to try. Everyone quickly accepted you as their new little sister, you hadn’t felt such felt love since you’d lost your family and don’t think you could ever leave them now.
Then when Ace joined you were instantly head over heels for him, it took him a bit before he felt the same for you but neither of you could ever view the other as a sibling like you did the rest of the crew, it didn’t feel right even when you first met. Good thing too otherwise this would be very awkward right now.
“All right,” Marco nods and goes back to a cabinet, digging through it, “We’ll keep this between you and me, we won’t tell Pops until you’ve told Ace. We’ll get with Thatch though so he can keep alcohol from you and start you on a meal plan to make sure you and the baby have everything you need. And I want you to start taking these pre-natal vitamins, okay?”
You nod when Marco hands you a bottle of vitamins, you’re still nervous and worried about how Ace will react, but you have some time to think. He’s off seeing Luffy right now with a stop by to visit Sabo planned, he’d told you yesterday over a call that it’d be another week or so before he gets back, you have time to get used to this and plan how to tell him.
Marco pats your head, giving you a smile when he sees you tighten your grip on the bottle.
“Everything will be okay, no matter what happens.”
“I know…thanks, Marco.”
“Anything for you. Now,” you return his smile and start to feel a little better about the whole situation, especially when Marco speaks again, “Let’s go do an ultrasound, hm?”
+!+
Marco keeps your first sonogram images in his office, away from others who might see and spoil the surprise before you even get to tell Ace your news. Thatch is the only other person who knows right now, he’s excited for you and has a meal plan ready by the end of the day you tell him, no one really questions it when you don’t have alcohol at dinner. You really only drank when Ace was around because he’d always get you back to his room safely, so no one questions it when you aren’t given any drinks apart from water at any meal.
Nothing really changes for now, apart from Marco wanting to check on you every few days to make sure everything still looks good and so far it does. None of your crewmates question this either, knowing you haven’t been feeling well and believing that Marco is just taking extra precautions and ensuring you haven’t caught anything severe. You promise anyone who asks that everything is okay and you’re fine, just getting over whatever illness made you sick.
You’re able to keep it all a little secret between you, Marco, and Thatch for the time being, and it continues to be that way even when Ace finally returns to you and the Moby Dick. You’re busy with Marco when he gets there, not for an appointment but to figure out what needs restocked on the ship, but Ace seeks you out once he’s finished talking to Whitebeard and others about Luffy and Sabo, running to you and shouting your name once he sees you.
It makes you anxious for a moment but so beyond happy to see him again. Once he gets to you, Ace scoops you up in his arms and hugs you so tight, you do the same and laugh while he tells you just how much he missed you. You think you probably missed him more, this was the first time he’d gone off to see his brothers since you started dating, it was rough even before you learned you were pregnant, you’re sure the hormones are what made the last week and a half even worse.
Ace drags you off to his room once he’s greeted everyone, you two need some time together and he’s desperate for it, you’re the one he thought about every day that he was gone and when he hears you were sick most of the time he was gone, his shoulders drop and he frowns. He hates that he wasn’t there to help you recover, but he’s glad you all have Marco around when any of you get sick or injured. The smile you have makes Ace feel better about it though, even when he noticed something there that he can’t quite place but it looks like anxiety or nervousness.
“You’re okay now though, yeah?”
“Mm-hm!” You nod, making Ace smile again as he wraps his arms around you, causing you to fall back on his bed with a laugh as he buries his face in your shirt, “Marco made sure of it, so you don’t have to worry about getting sick. I’m all yours today~”
“Good,” Ace barely notices you flinch a little when he presses his face into your stomach, but he thinks it’s probably that you’re not as fully recovered as you’re claiming, “As long as I can just lay here with you now~ I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too, Ace.”
You’re really glad he’s back, honestly. You were fine the first day Ace was gone but the next day you were more emotional and felt oddly lonely without him around, even with the others around. Ace has always been the brightest part of your days, even before you started dating he was the one who would find you first every morning just to greet you with a grin, making your stomach do flips for a while before you got used to it.
“Hey,” Ace looks up at you just enough to see your face while you run your fingers through his hair, giving you a sleepy smile, “What…do you think about having kids…?”
He's surprised by your question, but stays quiet for a minute, having to really think about it. Ace hasn’t ever thought it was a good idea for him to be a father, he’s never really thought that he’d be good at it or that he should even think about it, but he also knows about how much you want to have a child one day, to have your own family. The few times you two would talk about your pasts and your futures, while he’d told you who his real father was and you’d explained how you joined up with the Whitebeard Pirates, though Ace didn’t really have a plan for his future you always said how much you wanted to have kids of your own. He knows it mostly stems from having lost your biological family when you were younger, before you two ever met, and he respects your wants and desires.
But he’s just now sure about how he fits into that, if he wants that himself.
“I…don’t know…what about it?”
“I mean,” you shrug a bit as Ace starts to sit up, looking like he’s thinking but also concerned, hopefully he hasn’t figured you out from that one question, “It…could be fun right? To be parents one day…”
Ace doesn’t say anything, it makes you more nervous that you were about bringing it up, but you keep a smile on your face as you keep talking.
“Maybe one day, a little girl with your personality or a boy who looks just like you. I think I’d like that. We can raise them here with everyone, and your brothers—”
“I don’t think I want kids,” he doesn’t look at you when saying that, like he’s expecting you to end your relationship there since he knows your hopes for the future, but he’s hoping that’s not the case, “I just…I don’t want them to suffer because of me, or my past.”
“Ace, they wouldn’t—”
“Can we not talk about this now? I’m tired and I just want to spend time with you…”
Even though all you do is nod, it makes you feel sick that you can’t talk about this right now. You knows he’s tired, he needs to rest after having been gone and just getting back that day, but it still makes you more anxious than you already were. Ace lays next to you again, quiet himself, but he pulls you into a hug and kissed your forehead, hoping that he hasn’t upset you or anything. He really hasn’t, you
Even though all you do is nod, it makes you feel sick that you can’t talk about this right now. You knows he’s tired, he needs to rest after having been gone and just getting back that day, but it still makes you more anxious than you already were. Ace lays next to you again, quiet himself, but he pulls you into a hug and kissed your forehead, hoping that he hasn’t upset you or anything. He really hasn’t, you kind of expected him to shut down any talk about having kids right now, it shouldn’t be in your minds yet but the fact you’re already pregnant has you thinking about it constantly. You were hoping to get this discussed and settled right away, but maybe you should’ve waited until he was back for a day or two, instead of the day he got back. Maybe of you gave him some time to relax before you brought it up, you wouldn’t be feeling like you’re about throw up right now.
Actually, you’re sure it’s morning sickness combined with the anxiety and worry now, your stomach isn’t calming down and you have to push Ace away to get out of his bed.
“I don’t feel good,” Ace tilts his head as you move to leave, confused and now worried you’re still sick, “I…feel like I’m gonna be sick.”
“Hey,” Ace grabs your wrist when you try to run off, concern on his face when you don’t look at him, “Are you okay? You’re still sick?”
“Mm,” you nod before giving him a small smile, but it makes Ace even more concerned though he does let you go, “Just…gonna run to Marco, I’ll be back!”
“Okay then…”
Ace doesn’t follow you out of his room, just watching you go as you close the door. He doesn’t know what exactly is going on, but believes you when you say it’s because you still aren’t well. He knows Marco will take care of you and get you back to 100% in no time, though he wonders if what he said about maybe not wanting kids is the cause. He knows he might change his mind later on, maybe, but right now, he’s not confident that it’s something he wants. He doesn’t want anything like what happened with his own parents to happen to you and your child, it wouldn’t be fair to you or them if anything were to happen to him.
He knows it might become a make or break deal later on, but he hopes and prays he has time to really think about it and make a decision before you just end your relationship. But he also hopes you wouldn’t do that for this one thing, even if it means you have to make a compromise somewhere. Whatever that might be Ace isn’t sure, hopefully it’ll be years down the road before you have to make any kind of decision together about it.
For now, he’s going to unpack his bag while you’re gone, his whole focus being on you and getting some much needed alone time together had distracted him. He had to get somethings put away and a few gifts for you hidden for your birthday later on.
Especially the engagement ring Luffy and Sabo helped him pick out for you. He can’t let you see that quite yet.
~~
You don’t go to Marco actually, you run for the nearest bathroom and try to keep quiet, you don’t want Ace to hear you and get more worried. He probably thinks you’re just getting Marco to help your stomach calm down and you’ll go back to him, but the whole situation has you upset even when you kept that from him.
He's not sure he wants kids, why should he be? You’ve heard his story, you know who his biological father was, you understand why he wouldn’t be sure about it. Ace knows your plans to have kids, to be a mother one day, and he’s always respected that, he’s told you he thinks you’ll be great at it. He’s never believed it should be with him, even though he’s not told you that, you wonder if he thinks he’s not good enough for that kind of life.
It makes you feel worse to think about that, to think he doesn’t believe he deserves to have a family one day.
Of course he’s not sure about having kids, why would he be? We’re only twenty and we’ve only been together a few months, damn it.
It makes sense to you, it does, but you really had thought that maybe you two starting a relationship would let Ace see you want that with him, no one else. Before you found out you were pregnant you thought maybe the two of you could adopt if something came up where Ace didn’t want biological children or you couldn’t have kids yourself.
But things have changed and you just have to hope that Ace will think about it more than he has.
You quickly wash your face and rinse your mouth several times before you leave and decide to check with Marco anyway, but end up running right into Izo before you get too far. The concerned look he gives you makes you nervous as you laugh and apologize for running into him.
“Hey, Izo, what’s u—”
“Are you pregnant?”
Your eyes widen just a bit, before you laugh nervously and wave your hands, trying to brush it off while he looks at you. He knows and you’re scared he’ll tell Ace, so you try to lie your way out.
“W-what?!” You score and glance away, it only makes him narrow his eyes at you, “No…who told you that?? That’s so ridiculous! I’m not—”
“Why are you still sick then? Marco said you should be well by now.”
“W-Well—”
“This all started while Ace was gone, yes?” You start to shrink away, leaning against the wall as Izo watches you start to let your walls about it down, sliding yourself to the floor, “You’ve been sick for weeks now if that’s the case.”
“It…it’s the flu, I’m not—"
“Its not the flu, its morning sickness, isn’t it?” Izo sighs to himself as you keep looking away, he can’t believe he didn’t notice it sooner, “Did you forget I was around when Lady Toki was pregnant and gave birth? I know it was a long time ago but I do remember such things!”
That had slipped your mind, Izo probably would have kept this secret for you too if you’d told him. You slightly nod, Izo isn’t shocked, he was one of the people betting you’d have a baby before getting married anyway, but he’s wondering more about how long you’ve known about this and starts to question you about your surprise pregnancy and if Ace knows yet. When you shake your head at that answer, he raises an eyebrow before a thought hits him and he nods.
“You found out while he was away then.”
“Yeah…I didn’t…I honestly thought I just had the flu or something.”
“I see. When—”
“Please, Izo, don’t tell anyone. I…I’m going to tell Ace in a few days, I swear, I just don’t want anyone else to know before he does…”
The pleading look you give him makes Izo sigh but with a light smile as he nods. He’d never take that away from you, allowing you to make your own decision on when and how to tell Ace about your pregnancy. It’s soon, probably sooner than you ever thought it would be, but he can already imagine you and Ace being amazing parents, how everyone is going to dote on your baby and help raise them. It’s been so long since there’s been a baby on board, he wonders if anyone remembers how to even care for a baby let alone hold one properly, but Izo also knows that once it’s out to everyone, Marco will start helping prepare everyone for this change.
“Everyone will be happy for you two.”
“…I’m just hoping Ace will be happy…”
“He will be,” before you can say anything else Izo takes your hand and helps you stand back up right, giving you a hug, “It may take him a bit, but I know Ace will be happy to have a child with you, even if he’s not sure about it yet. Everything will be fine.”
Part of you wishes people would stop saying that, but you’re also glad for all the reassurances from those who know. They’re more positive than you ever could have expected or asked for, they give you hope that Ace really will be excited when you tell him, despite what he said earlier about how unsure he is regarding having children.
Everything will be okay, even if it might be as while before everyone is settled and accepting. What’s more important is that you tell Ace soon and get his reaction, after that you can worry about what to do next.
Izo questions you a bit more after that, before letting you go back to Ace, he just wants to be completely up to date on everything and know how he can help. All you ask is again that he doesn’t tell anyone, that’s all you need right now.
You’ll tell Ace soon, then everyone else. You won’t keep it private too much longer.
+!+
A few days later at dinner, everyone is getting rowdy and drinking, celebrating your birthday and everyone making you laugh more than normal. It helps you forget about your worries regarding you’re pregnancy, you’ll ignore it for now and focus more on the smiles and pecks on the cheek Ace gives you every now and then, your attempted conversation forgotten about for the time being. Ace told you he’d think more about it, and you said you wouldn’t push him or anything like that. The compromise is enough for now for both of you, even with your secret, you aren’t going to worry too much right now, not until you’re ready to tell him.
Tonight you aren’t going to think about it, you’re focused on your family celebrating you, everyone so happy to still have you around and giving you the gifts they carefully picked for you. Ace said he’ll give his gift to you later, some people end up taking it the wrong way and give whistles and shouts, making you roll your eyes as your face heats up. It makes Ace laugh before he plants a kiss on your cheek again, promising it’s something better than what everyone else thinks.
When Thatch comes by with drinks, he makes sure once again to keep alcohol away from you, passing you a water that you accept gratefully and it makes Ace furrow his brow.
“You’re not drinking again?”
You shake your head, giving a smile.
“Not today, I want to remember everything.”
“One drink wont knock you down, you can handle it!”
“I--no, I’m okay, Ace, really!”
No one says anything about it, instead staying deep in their own conversations. Ace doesn’t understand why you’ve been abstaining so much lately, every time he tries to get you to drink you reject it, it makes him wonder if something happened while he was gone that made you stop entirely. You haven’t told him anything, neither has Marco or anyone else, maybe you’ve just decided to cut back heavily for some other reason.
Ace lets it go for a bit, before he gets another drink and tries once more to get you to take just a sip from his cup. He questions you again when you shake your head, but before you can say anything, you hear Teech laugh and make a suggestion that makes you freeze up.
“Ha, maybe she’s pregnant!”
It makes Ace rolls his eyes, not noticing that you’re anxiously looking at him, like you expect him to know just from that.
“No she’s not, shut up.”
“I’m just saying it’s possible,” Teech takes a drink, while you pray he doesn’t say anything more or Ace just doesn’t take anything he says to heart, “We’ve all seen her sneaking out of your room most nights anyway!”
It's starting to get to you, you never cared if anyone else saw you slipping out of Ace’s room or the two of you leaving together in the mornings. No one ever said anything or made any comments, most of them did it out of respect for your privacy, though some did make suggestive faces towards you both early on, it’s all stopped over time. It’s quickly been replaced by everyone treating you both normally, the bets you don’t know about taking over private conversations for the time being.
Well, its stopped by everyone but Teech now. You’d usually be embarrassed by talk of your sex life but the comment about your still unrevealed pregnancy makes you upset, to the point you’re starting to get mad more than anything and glaring at Teech to try and make him stop talking before anything comes out too early.
“Shut up, Teech.”
“What? Everyone knows you and Ace have been going at it like—”
“I said, shut up!”
Everyone quiets as you yell, those who had been listening understand what exactly is going on but don’t say anything yet. Ace jumps when you slam your hands on the table and stand up, he’s never seen you set such an awful glare on someone like you are Teech right now, but it makes the wheels in his head start to turn and he starts piecing everything together. You never get this upset about some teasing, even if it’s a joking suggestion that you might be pregnant. Another crewmate made a joke about it early on, before you and Ace ever even slept together the first time, and it made you laugh, commenting back about how your parents were right, kissing boys made you pregnant.
But this time you’re visibly angry about it, it’s an obvious joke from Teech, he’s always been the one to make crude comments about sex and relationships, you and Ace have never been spared from this, especially when everyone figured out you started having sex. While some gave you two looks, Marco telling you to be careful (that worked out well), and Teech making comments you don’t dare repeat and have tried to wipe from your memory. Ace did everything he could to make it stop, you both thought it was over with when you hadn’t heard anything in the last couple months, but for some reason, your reaction to the suggestion of pregnancy has you mad, so Ace has to stop and think.
Teech tries to defend himself as Ace keeps thinking, everything starting to make more sense and fall into place in his mind. You being sick for so long, asking about having kids, not drinking with him, you pushed him off you the other night when he started handsy and said you weren’t in the mood, which he respected but now he’s realizing what it is that made you stop him.
“…are you pregnant?”
Ace is quiet when he asks, but it’s what gets you out of your anger, making you look back at him and he sees the tears starting to form in your eyes. Marco tries to step in, telling you to settle down because this isn’t good for you, getting worked up and stressed. You look so upset, while Ace is in shock and just staring at you, everyone around you two has completely quieted and looks between you two.
You can’t even bring yourself to speak, this isn’t how this was supposed to go, you weren’t ready to tell him yet! It was going to be a surprise when you did tell him, you had a plan, this isn’t fair!
“I…”
“Babe—”
“I’m sorry!”
You take off before Ace can say anything else, Marco calls for you but everyone else stays put. No one wants to be the first to say anything, they’re not sure if they should congratulate Ace or just keep their mouths shut, but eventually Marco sighs and sets a hand on Ace’s shoulder.
“Come with me.”
It takes Ace a moment before he can move, he knows he should’ve followed you out, he needs to know if you really are pregnant or if it’s just a suspicion you have, though the way Marco is acting tells him you have to be sure already. That’s probably why he wants to talk to him, Marco knows and is going to give Ace all the information he can, so he finally gives in and follows him out. Ace hates seeing you upset and crying, it’s not fair to you that this got out the way it did. He knows you, he’s sure you were planning something cute to do for your announcement, but now it’s all been ruined.
Ace feels sick, he’s upset for you, but he really needs to know how real this is, it could still be a misunderstanding. He’s pretty sure it’s not after the scene that just unfolded, but there’s still a part of him that thinks it might be as he follows Marco.
Once Ace and Marco leave, everyone lets out the breath they were holding before looking at Teech with glares. While some had their suspicions from how you’ve been acting, others had accidentally overheard you talking to Marco or Thatch about it, not one of them wanted to say anything. It wasn’t their place and they all knew you’d eventually say something when you were ready, or Ace would blurt it out at some point, they weren’t sure about how it would go.
All they knew was that it was now out there due to Teech and no one was happy about it.
“…I didn’t think she was actually pregnant.”
There’s several sighs and groans, while Izo and Thatch give the glares they could to Teech, causing him to shrink away just a bit for ruining your plans with his big mouth.
“Shut up, Teech.”
+!+
“She’ll be ten weeks along in a few days.”
“I can’t believe this…”
The sonogram image in his hands just makes Ace anxious yet excited, what he can’t believe is that it’s your baby he’s looking at, his baby on top of that. His heart is racing over this despite the sick feeling he has, this explains why you had asked him about having kids, why you’ve still had, what seemed to be, random bouts of sickness still, even though Marco had said you should be totally fine now.
But now it all makes sense. You haven’t been sick with the flu, you’re pregnant and it’s morning sickness that’s been getting to you so often. That’s why you rejected every time Ace tried to get you to drink, it’s why you didn’t want to do anything the other night, why you ran off the other day after you tried to ask about having kids.
He feels terrible that your secret got out, that you didn’t get the chance to tell him yourself, but looking at the sonogram he feels so excited.
“Do we know what—”
“Too early to tell the sex, in a few weeks we can do a blood test to see and then another sonogram later to confirm,” Marco smiles seeing Ace nod, it seems like he’s still coming to terms with this but he doesn’t look too upset, “She’s been worried about telling you, thought you were gonna get mad at her.”
“I’d never do that!”
“That’s what I said, but with this situation she wasn’t thinking straight.”
Hearing that makes Ace feel bad, you shouldn’t be that scared about telling him, he’s never yelled at you about anything. It’s not his personality and he hates the idea of hurting you that way, you two have always talked through any issues you’ve had and come to compromises or agreements, like you did recently with the whole having kids thing.
Oh.
Oh that explains why you ran off after asking and he said he didn’t want kids. You were scared and it made you sick, Ace realizes that makes so much more sense now. He should’ve tried to explain it better, that he wasn’t sure about having kids, not just that he flat out doesn’t want them. If you’d been able to talk about that sooner, maybe you would’ve been a little more careful not having to worry about this now.
“Ace, you know she’s wanted this forever now.”
Ace nods, still staring at the sonogram image. There’s so much you two have to discuss now, he needs to make sure you’re okay and that you know he’s not going anywhere. Even if he hadn’t planned to ask you to marry him, he’d still stick around hearing that you’re pregnant. He may not be sure of how good he’ll do as a dad, but if this is what you want, what you’ve always wanted, he’s going to stay with you and help you through everything. Nothing would change that, he really hopes you understand that already.
“I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but—”
“I gotta go talk to her,” Ace stands up quickly and hands the sonogram back to Marco, “I gotta make sure [Y/N]’s okay and tell her I can’t wait for this.”
“Really? You’re okay with it?”
“Yeah, I…” sighing, Ace smiles a bit while Marco watches him, “I’m scared as hell I’m gonna screw up, but I think…I think we’ll be okay.”
“You’re not gonna screw up,” Marco laughs and pats his shoulder, “You guys have all of us here, we’ll make sure your kid doesn’t end up like you.”
“Hey—”
“You better go and talk to her, she’s been anxious about everything for almost two weeks now.”
“Yeah,” there’s a grin on his face as Ace nods once more, turning to leave, “I’ll take care of it, thanks Marco.”
+!+
Ace knows you ran off to his room to hide, even though its not the best place since again, it’s his room, but he’s not mad about it. You’ve always gone there when you were upset about something, this isn’t a surprise to him. You’ve mostly calmed down by the time he gets there, though you don’t look towards the door when you hear it open.
“When were you gonna tell me?”
Ace feels like his heart breaks when you sniffle, rubbing at your eyes and shrugging. He hates seeing you cry, always has, but he feels worse about it now than he ever has. You’re embarrassed and upset, you didn’t want someone else to blurt it out, he shouldn’t have tried getting you to drink as much as he did, maybe you could’ve told him later that night if he hadn’t. He feels like it’s all his fault this happened, though, he knows that it definitely is partly because of him that everything is going to change.
You’re pregnant, Ace really thought you guys were being careful and safe, but apparently not. Ace wonders if you didn’t tell him because you were scared or didn’t want to have a baby with him, maybe you thought he’d get mad at you and break up with you. He’d never do that but maybe you weren’t thinking straight after finding out, you got worried and let negative thoughts overtake your mind.
You should be happy and excited, not scared and worried, Ace realizes that. He starts to look around his room while you keep your eyes on the floor, expecting him to end your relationship or something like that.
“Ace—”
“We’re gonna have to find a place for a crib, huh?”
“…what?”
“Or, hm, what’s that other thing called?” Ace starts thinking, while you’re sitting there stunned and staring at him like he has two heads, “Oh…the bed for babies that sometimes looks all frilly and stuff…”
“A…a bassinet?”
“Yeah, that! We’re gonna have to move things around,” you give Ace a confused look as he starts trying to get an idea of how to rearrange the room, “Maybe…we can move the dresser to this other corner, our bed can go against this wall, and—”
“Wait stop, you…you’re okay with this?”
Ace gives you a grin, tilting his head.
“Should I not be?” he’s still grinning when he finally walks over, crouching in front of you and reaching a hand to your cheek, “A baby with the girl of my dreams…what could be better?”
“I…you said you didn’t—”
“I know, I know,” Ace nods with a small smile, he shouldn’t said something earlier but it was your birthday and he didn’t want to interrupt your day, “When you asked, I had already started thinking about it, but you just surprised me and I kind of…”
“Freaked out?”
“Ha, yeah, I guess so. It was like you could read my mind and I was worried you’d think it was too soon if I said yes.”
“Ace,” you roll your eyes a bit with a smile, “We had feelings for each other for how long before we got together?”
Ace laughs, nodding and knowing what you meant. It seems only natural that you two would skip a few steps and go right to having kids, you’ve known and loved each other long enough. What does it matter if you’re not married yet, who really cares?
He's still going to ask you to marry him, but right now, it’s not a major concern for either of you.
“Good point, but I was still worried. So…I kind of lied because I didn’t want to scare you off.”
“You’d never scare me off, Ace.”
He nods again, smiling as you start to relax more, your own smile showing and it makes Ace happy to see you’ve calmed down some. He knows you’re still worried and anxious, but he hopes he can help you realize that it’s okay, he’s not mad or going to leave you. He’s staying with you, he's going to help you raise your baby no matter what happens, he’s going to protect the two of you and keep you safe.
“If it’s a girl, I hope she’s just like her mom.”
The comment doesn’t fully register at first, but it makes you roll your eyes again.
“If it’s a boy he’s going to be just like you, which means I’m in trouble.”
“Trouble?? You sure about that??”
You don’t get to respond back before Ace, carefully, hugs you tight and knocks you back onto his bed, making you laugh as he kisses your face and holds you close. Once you’ve both settled down, his comment about you having a girl finally hits you, you look up at Ace with a smile.
“You’re happy?”
“Of course I am,” the grin he gives almost makes you cry, but Ace stops that with another kiss before laying his head against your stomach, “Can’t believe our baby’s in there…you’ll be a great mom.”
It gets you more choked up, you can’t help it but don’t want to cry too loud. You don’t want Ace to think he’s upset you, so you stroke his hair a bit, taking a few breaths to calm yourself down before you speak again.
“You’re gonna be a great dad, Ace.”
Ace doesn’t say anything for a moment, before he hugs you a little tighter and quietly says he’ll do his best for the both of you, pressing a kiss to your belly.
“I won’t let you down, I promise.”
Although everyone on board knows now, you’re sure those who heard have spread it to everyone that wasn’t around or listening by now, you’ve still got to let Whitebeard know later. You know he’s definitely going to be happy for you and Ace, just like everyone else has been so far.
Ace eventually sits up and gives you a grin that makes you tilt your head at him.
“I’ve got to call Luffy and Sabo! They’re going to be so surprised!”
While Ace hurries off the bed to get his transponder snail and call his brothers, you shake your head with a laugh before you follow after him. The excitement you hear from the two over the receiver makes you both happy and more excited than you already were. You may not have been planning this to happen for a while longer, but you’ve accepted that it’s going to happen and you can’t wait to see how Ace is as a father.
You know he’s going to do his best and he’ll do everything to keep you both safe and happy.

Platonic Yandere Doflamingo and teen daughter reader
Overprotective Dad
Platonic Yandere Doflamingo x Daughter Reader
I tried my best. I hope you like it!
Doflamingo adored you and spoiled you rotten because you were his only child. His only daughter. To him, you were the most important person in his life and no one could prove him wrong. He will kill anyone who hurt you physically and mentally.
There was a time when you were a child and a maid accidentally spilled hot tea on you. You cried because the tea felt so hot on your skin and he quickly called a doctor and soothe you. After that incident, you noticed one thing. You never saw that maid again.
You were too young to understand back then but now you do. You turned 18 a few months ago. You were happy because you thought Doflamingo would finally let you leave the castle and explore the outside world. You thought you could finally travel the seas. That was your dream.
However, during your 18th birthday, you asked him if you could become a pirate like him and travel the seas but before you could even finish your sentence, he cut you off.
"No," just that simple one word was able to crush your dreams in an instant.
"Why?" You argued.
"The outside world is very dangerous, [Y/n]. How many times do I have to tell you that? There is no way you can become a pirate. This castle is the only safe place for you."
You furrowed your eyebrows, "But dad, I wanted to become a pirate like you. I just-"
He raised his voice, "[Y/n]! I don't want you to become a pirate like me. You know, I hate repeating myself. I don't want to hear about this topic again! Do you understand me?"
"Yes," You muttered.
"Now go to your room!"
That was the first time your dad had ever raised his voice at you. You left crying and feeling dejected.
But you were determined to leave. You loved your dad but sometimes he is just too much. You heard that he had to attend the Warlord meeting and will be back in a few days. You took this opportuinity to sneak out and it seems like luck was on your side because it was successful.
"Where is [Y/n]? Where did she go?!" Diamante panicked.
"I think she left. I checked every room in this castle and she is nowhere to be found," Baby 5 sighed.
"Fuck!" Diamante cursed.
"Doffy is going to be so mad," Trebol said.
"We have to tell him."
And they did. They told him about the terrible news through the den den mushi. He was flying in the sky heading towards Marineford but the news made him paused and he was thankful that he was still near dressrosa.
Doflamingo did not take it well. His frown deepened, his veins popped out on his forehead and he looked like he will kill anyone who gets in his way. Abandoning his meeting, he wasted no time and flew at the fastest speed back to Dressrosa.
An hour later, he arrived at his castle to see you tied up in your room. He glanced at Diamante, "Where did you find her?"
"Green bit. Thank god she didn't go too far. If we were a little late, she would have been gone for good."
He narrowed his eyes at Diamante's words, "Untie her."
Diamante nodded, obeying his orders.
"Fufufu~ You are very persistent, my daughter," He walked towards you with a grin. You could tell that even though he was grinning, he was very angry inside.
You were scared of what was going to happen next. You were born isolated from the world and now you sneaked out but got caught. There was no way he was going to continue let you live like you used to.
"I'm sorry, dad but I won't do it again! I promise!" You apologized hoping he would let it slide this time.
"Sure but can I trust you? I don't think I can. Last time, you asked me about this and I told you to never bring it up again. You said you won't but now look at what you did. You crossed the line, [Y/n]," He was no longer smiling. He looked upset, mad and most of all, disappointed in you.
You stayed silent because he was right. You lied to him but how could you not? You were getting tired of being restricted from leaving the castle.
When he saw that you have given up on going against him, his signature grin returned to his face.
"Starting from now on, you will be locked up in your room. And for extra precautions, I will have to put these bracelets on you" He took them out of his pocket.
"What?" You were confused. Bracelets for extra precautions?
Doflamingo took your hand and put on the bracelets on both of your wrists, "They will explode if you leave this castle."
You froze in place. Your eyes widened as you looked at your dad in fear and despair.
Doflamingo grinned and hugged you.
"Don't worry, [Y/n]. In this world, I will be the only one who loves you and care for you. I am the only one that will always be by your side. And that is why you can never leave your dad. Fufufu~"

Luffy x Reader (Gender not specified) — Angst / Fluff — Can be taken as platonic or romantic. Small and optional romantic Ace x Reader if you squint.

When all of you got separated at Sabaody Archipelago, Kuma sent you to one of the many places you didn’t desire to be held in.
He asked you right before sending you away, “If you could go someplace for vacation, where would you go?”
You were hesitant to respond.
“Anywhere my friends are.”
Impel Down. He sent you to Impel Down — that wasn’t the slightest bit a vacation. It was pure torture, for all the time you were stuck in a cell.
The World Government considered you dangerous enough to holster you on level 5, considered to be the floor of Impel Down that holds the most world-threatening criminals. You heard of a possible ‘level 6’, but that wasn’t your concern.
You expected to be alone throughout your suffering in that cell.
But there was one factor making it just the slightest bit easier for you.
Luffy’s older brother; Portgas D. Ace.
He sat chained up in the cell right next to yours, alongside an infamous Fishman Warlord who somehow ended up on the Government’s bad side.
When he saw you, he recognized you almost immediately. All the way back from when he met you in Alabasta.
“It’s… you? You’re Luffy’s friend. Why are you here…?”
If only you knew the answer to that question.
Ace grew fond of you rather quickly. Despite your situation, you tried your best to remain somewhat calm and have faith that you’d escape from the hellhole that called itself ‘Impel Down’. He wouldn’t prefer anyone else be in the cell next to his own. You felt the same about him, too.
The two of you sorted your trope out as ‘comfort buddies’, if that even made sense at all. When you were upset, he would try to cheer you up from across his own cell, despite his weak and raspy voice.
You did the same. Constantly telling him that you’d find a way to get him out.
Not just for his sake — but for Luffy’s sake. You cared deeply for your captain, and you didn’t need much convincing to know that he and Ace were the closest of the closest.
Ace saw it in your eyes, whenever you talked about your life-changing (stinky) captain, the glint of adoration you held for him. Therefore he swore to find a way to get you out of Impel Down, as well.
He didn’t lie when he said those words to you.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get you out, too.”
But what about what you said?
Luffy, the boy whom you would die for, held his brother’s cold body in his arms. He found a way to sneak into Marineford, vowing to help you rescue Ace.
You said you’d get him out.
Though his freedom only lasted for a moment.
Akainu prevailed, bringing about the death of a friend you had little time to spend with.
Ace was more than the brother of the one you were deeply loyal towards. He was one of your closest friends, there for you during your breakdowns in that cell — as you were for him.
You were there. You didn’t have time to react as the magma empowered Admiral punched a hole right through his ribs.
You didn’t even do so much as budge.
No lies were to be spread. You blamed yourself for allowing Ace to get killed so easily. You could’ve helped. Saved him.
You entirely believed it was your fault for not doing anything.
So why did he forgive you? No. He didn’t forgive you, because he didn’t see you as a problem to begin with. He had no need to accept your apology, because he deemed it unnecessary.
Your captain. The one who was there during Ace’s death. The one who suffered the most.
He didn’t blame you.
Rather, he showed you sympathy. He knew you had gotten close to his brother while being held hostage in the underwater prison.
As tears fell from your eyes, Luffy wrapped his arms around you, caressing the back of your head with his calloused hand, still bruised from all the fighting he indulged in.
“Stop blaming yourself. I don’t like it. And stop crying! I’d prefer not to see you cry, ‘cause I don’t like it. Not one bit!”
You thought for sure he would’ve been somewhat upset with you for not being able to prevent Ace’s death. But no. Instead, he was upset with you for blaming yourself.
“…But I thought—”
“Urgh. Then— stop thinking!”
He was never mad at you.
Your overflowing tears soaked his bandaged shoulder, damp spots littered all over it.
You weren’t exaggerating when you said you would’ve lost your sanity without him in multiple scenarios. This one easily being crowned the worst.
He held you close until he had to leave for his training.
Even after two years passed, he still didn’t blame you.
“Lu. You see those stars up there, right?”
“Shishishi! Of course I do! What about them?”
“One of them is Ace. He’s watching over us. I just know it!”
“I already knew that! Of course he’s watching us! Why would he not be? C’mon, tell me something more creative!”
“Ugh, you’re ruining the moment!”

“The Great Battle of Marineford.”
A mug of beer held in the air, scarred fingers loosely wrapping around the handle.
“Has a lovely ring to it, don’t you think?”
The person holding the cup sighs, “Just imagine,” eyes closing as grand dreams and high hopes weave themselves behind eyelids. “Us, in the spotlight, our bounties skyrocketing by the minute…” Letting that fantasy unravel, Yánzǐ opens his eyes back up, irises traveling to you. “Doesn’t that sound grand, Captain?”
Prompted to answer, you divert your view from the sea to your first-mate.
Being in the spotlight…
Out on stage, onlookers’ attention focused on nothing but the actions of your crew, waiting with bated breath for the next line they shall deliver…
The thought makes a bitter taste pool in your mouth.
Usually, it’s an idea you can get on board with, but this time is different. This time, the stage lights must shine on another ensemble.
“Not really,” is your answer. “All that sounds grand to me is supporting Newgate for this war.”
The ‘support’ is mainly to pay back a… personal debt you owe to the Warlord, even if he’s insisted too many times he’s needed no reimbursement.
Yánzǐ chuckles, “Aw, really? Wouldn’t you like to see your bounty rise, though?”
“I would, but that’s not my main goal for where we’re gonna be,” you clarify, turning back to the seas.
No sight of land.
Even when squinting, all you can see is the unknown blue.
We’ve been sailing for three weeks, though. Khia said it should take three weeks to get to Marineford. Did we get off course?
A seed of worry is planted, immediately starting to sprout- roots digging into your brain as the stem wraps around flesh, so tight it could burst.
In order to spray a weed killer onto that anxiety, you call to your helmsman: “Khia, how much longer until we get there?”
The mentioned person pulls their head up from a book, foot moving from atop the helm to see you better.
“Six hours.” Barely louder than the crashing waves, you have to strain your ears to hear them. “Unless you want me to go faster?”
Six hours…
The feel of vines wrapping around an organ lessene, but still lingers.
“Yes, please. That would be nice.”
Nodding, Khia straightens themself up, readying themself to make the ship take speed.
Well, at least that’s done…
The plant is set alight, dissolving into ashes, no longer taking much priority in your thoughts- although a little bit still lingers and god you can’t get it out of your mind-
Gah!
What matters is that it’s mostly gone, this absence allows you to pick up on footsteps approaching, discolored arm wrapping around your shoulders.
“Ah, Captain!” Comes the bellow of the crew’s doctor. “What’re you so worried for? We’ll be fine!” A laugh echoes from her throat, haughty and egotistic; uncontainable joy spreading across the deck, allowing it to worm its way into the hearts of many others.
Well, except for you.
Somehow, her infectious glee never manages to even touch you; even now, as all you can do is frown to her aching smile.
Anxious.
You’re anxious, and like the douche she is, Sasi always notices.
“Is it your dad?”
Leave it to her to be straightforward, allowing for no hesitation or hiding on your end.
Allowing a few seconds to pass, you order your thoughts, soon sighing, “Not… necessarily.” Out of the corner of your eye, you see Yánzǐ perk up. “Well, it is. I’m… worried about the power he holds. we all know he’s going to be there for the execution of Portugas, as well as some admirals.”
Something gross starts to swish around in your gut.
“I know Newgate will be able to handle himself, but I’m sure that Sengoku’s-” His name is practically spit out. “-gonna call out the big shots, especially for a battle such as this.”
Yánzǐ’s creeping closer, you note.
“And I’m worried. About my crew, about all of you.” A short huff from you, as you shake your head. “I… powerful forces are going to be there. Admirals I haven’t heard of, probably with abilities far surpassing our crew. Hell, knowing them, they might do something underhanded.” A dull pain in your bottom lip, teeth digging into it. “…look. If anything happens, I want you all to prioritize your lives. Run away if need be. Your honor does not matter, but your-”
Yánzǐ’s voice, purposefully set at an annoyingly high pitch, rings from behind you.
“AWH, CAPTAIN!”
He wraps an arm around your shoulders, practically yanking you to his side.
“You don’t have to be so worried,” he shouts, “There’s a reason we’re called The Forsaken Pirates!”
Sasi’s fingers snap, a grin on her face. “Oh- you’re right!” The doctor moves to your other side, also wrapping an arm around your shoulders. “Why would we prioritize our lives when we have a name to spread?!” The woman becomes loud, voice spreading out across the ship.
All of a sudden, Khia balks. “Oh, hush!” They slam a fist onto the hull, making their presence known. “Must you always be so loud?! I can’t focus on driving the ship with your incessant screaming!” Despite their words, though, it’s obvious they’re hiding a smile of her own, just squished down with all they have.
To her insult, the doctor gasps, a hand dramatically brought to her chest. “Why, I-!”
Thus, dramatics ensue.
Khia and Yánzǐ, the doctor and the first mate; both people starting to argue with one another, throwing insults and punches of all kinds at either side. From an outside perspective, it looks like they’re fighting to the death.
On the inside, though, it’s different.
The two of them have suppressed grins on their faces, uplifting ends to their sentences, and fists that’re lighter than usual.
They’ve gotten along better than when they first met.
To the spectacle, people start to perk up, some crowding around the two, egging them on, a few even placing bets on who will win.
At the end of the day, though, it’s all in fun and jokes.
At the end of every day, it’s all in pure fun and jokes.
It’s something you appreciate about your crew.
No matter the situation, no matter the threat, they’ll always manage to make the scene lighter than it really is.
Whether a fight, a near death experience, or a war.
Broken terrains, and beaten corpses.
Chipped swords, and damaged bodies.
In this arena, multiple people stand; one side against another, shades of grey fighting against a collective shade of white.
Within that grey, is the beams of every single one of your crewmates, unaffected by whatever happens around them. Like shooting down a fish, they take down whatever is in their way, uncaring of the injuries on their bodies, or the fear they may feel.
Another one.
Needle pricking into an arm, sword stabbing into the neck of a man.
Right before it explodes, you jump back. Hands come up to cover your face, debris and smoke decorating your arms.
Cogs and oil; metal and fire.
What the hell is that thing?
It doesn’t have any flesh, and yet, it looks like an identical copy of the warlord Bartholomew Kuma.
Former Revolutionary, too.
Furthermore, there’s clones of that man, all around the field, engaging in combat with your allies.
How? A Devil Fruit ability? But doesn’t he already have one-?
Deciding it’s too much for your thoughts, you discard the train of thinking. Even if the concept is curious (and possibly sickening), you don’t have time to ponder what fucked up thing the Marines did this time.
All that you need to focus on, all that your attention needs, is one objective.
Assist Newgate any means possible in this war.
So, despite how much you want to figure out this fucked-up mystery, you simply, don’t have the time for it.
Something pulls at your brain.
A small prick, a tug, but it has so much force to it, tugging the thing to a far corner of your skull
Ah.
Recognizing the sensation, you turn to the source of the tugging, eyes catching onto a Marine- Lieutenant Commander, the back of your mind echoes- their gun raised, ready to bash it against your head.
Hm.
The firearm’s way above their head, with nothing to guard them from incoming blows.
Poor tactic.
Your face scrunches up.
Do they even train their Marines, nowadays?
Crouching down, you prepare yourself to strike a palm against their neck, but before you could, a sudden warmth overtakes you.
Fire lapping at exposed skin, always touching but never burning; a campfire in front of cold hands, meant only for preserving life. That is what the sensation is like, and it’s one you’re familiar with.
“Watch your head, yoi!”
That voice.
That infuriating voice, paired with that annoying blue talon.
Marco the Phoenix.
Long nails pinning your pathetic excuse of an attacker to the ground, compressing so hard on their chest they pass out.
Your ‘savior’ turns to you, that stupid smirk stretched out across his face. He tilts his head, calling out your name- “Didn’t expect you to be joining us, yoi!”
Atop a scalding hot stove, water starts to furiously boil. The liquid bubbles rise up, and up, the container no longer holding it as the water seeps through the lid, leaking down to touch the surface heating it.
“Piss off, Marco the Phoenix!” You bark, ignoring his offended remark as you push past him to find where you’re needed.
Where do I need to go, where do I need to go…
Left and right, your head swivels, looking this way and that for any of your comrades who may be struggling in this battle.
What’s happening, what’s happening…
In one place, there’s Newgate (Overhyped big man) exacting orders; in another, there’s Strawhat Luffy (seems like a bright kid. Knows how to make a flashy entrance) engaging with Mihawk; far up above, there’s the execution platform of Ace, with Garp and…
…Sengoku.
The lid starts to rattle.
Fleet Admiral and Vice Admiral sitting together, on the perch like birds on a branch. High up above, in a place only they can reach so effortlessly. In their position, they can be impartial to the carnage going on beneath them, the broken screams of the grieving, of the afraid, of the dying.
They are the Celestial Dragons, the self-proclaimed Gods, to the lowly humans suffering at the hands of the heaven's actions.
Like a kettle, a high-pitched whistling sound starts to come from the pot.
Nobody seems to be engaging with them, or even anywhere nearby, too busy with all the other forces attacking them.
Looks like you’re needed there.
So you go.
Your feet skidding against uneven rock, you carry yourself there, barely acknowledging the enemies who try to get to you- just so you’re able to reach your goal.
To reach Sengoku.
That good-for-nothing, scumbag of a father who’s better off dead because how dare he.
How dare he sit upon his false throne, looking at but not seeing the wails of your allies.
How dare he call for this war, but does not do anything to aid the burden of his soldiers.
How dare he be in a position of power, only to use it to destroy.
How dare he.
His eyes, apathetically crossing the scene, meet yours.
And his face turns into one of pure fury.
In an instant, his body transforms.
Pale skin starts to form a sheen, changing shades until it’s a blinding gold; body contorting to a bigger size, his shirt unable to handle this change, as it tears off; an aura of sorts forming around him, almost like a halo of the angels.
A false halo.
With such an ugly expression on him, any awe directed towards that presence of his is immediately discarded.
An ugly face, for an ugly man.
Echoing across this ring, the man bellows your name, “After twenty years, you show your face to me-” The harsh cold biting at your skin, his voice nothing short of cruel. “-and you foolishly fight on the side of pirates!”
Pirates.
Disgusting, less than human, beings; monsters, who do nothing except for prey on the week; slobs, who could be doing so much better with their lives.
Pirates.
People, who just want to see the world; people, who had no other choice than to become a pirate; people, who refuse to be a cog within a rusty machine.
Pirates.
You shout, “Yes, I do!” grabbing a sword embedded in a body, you point it at your father.. “On this battlefield, I align myself with what is true! And here-”
There’s a thrumming underneath your veins.
Within its cage, blood rushes against it, the molecules almost pushing against one another in a race to your head. The top of your body almost feels full with it, as if it’s going to burst with the amount in there.
It’s so much.
But at the same time, there’s a fire within your heart. Burning brightly, passionately, adding fuel for you to take grasp of your long-held dream.
“I shall be the one to take your head!”
Papers spread on an ivory desk.
Pads of fingers digging into the reports.
A body hunched over those fingers.
“A child.”
The words are muttered right as your office door opens.
“You placed a bounty on a child.”
The newcomer’s eyes narrow. “It’s for the protection of the common good.” It’s Sengoku.
“You placed a bounty on a child.” Your teeth clench. “I can understand annihilating an island-” can you, now? “-but placing a 900 million berry bounty on a child’s head?”
“She holds secrets that could disrupt the balance of the world-”
A firework exploding.
A rope snapping.
A fire generating.
“She is a child,” you start to yell, “You placed a bounty on a child! Nine million berries-” You grab onto the poster, holding the picture of Nico Robin up.
“Dead or alive! You want a child to die!”
“It’s for the protection of the world!”
“YOU PLACED A DEAD OR ALIVE BOUNTY ON A CHILD!”
You awake in chains.
Heavy on your body, they weigh you down; where they encase your limbs, they offer nothing but a dull ache for comfort.
Where…
It’s hard to think, you realize, almost as if your brain is a swamp. Wading, trudging; to navigate these muddy waters, all of your energy is needed.
Knowing you won’t be able to traverse with your body, you decide to traverse with your eyes instead, focusing on discerning your surroundings.
As you do so, simple shades of grey start to become multiple tints of that color, bricks and crevices soon identifiable by your barely working eyes. After some more mapping out, your organs of sight notice multiple, thin bars in front of you.
A… cell…?
Past those bars is a discernible shade of white, soon separating into yellows, blues, reds, and blacks. Not long after, you recognize them as clothes. A rectangular sash, round coat lying on top of it, and two circles- glasses, actually- lying atop a man’s face.
“You’re awake.”
Rough and scratchy; sandpaper rubbing against a hand.
You know the voice all too well.
Leftover rage rising up your limbs, you pull against the chains. “You-!” Only for it to be a fruitless attempt. “Sanctimonious fool!” Your tone, however, makes up for that anger. “Where am I? Where did you take me?!”
Suddenly, a stab of worry embeds itself into your heart.
“Where are my crewmates?!”
All the past events are a blur, lost in the mist of your mind. All you can remember is the events before and at the declaration that you’ll take Sengoku’s head, but after that, you don’t know.
You don’t know the outcome of the war.
You don’t know if Ace’s head was taken or not.
You don’t know if your crewmates are safe or not.
Your crewmates, who have been built over long and arduous years, who were all different kinds of people, some who didn’t get along at first, all of them gone from their hometowns for one reason or another, becoming attached to you and your crew and joining with or without your permission, everybody eventually becoming a member beloved by you and if anything happened to them you don’t know what you’ll do because you love them so much-
“If any of them are hurt, I’ll-!”
“I don’t know where your teammates are,” Sengoku interrupts. “I was too occupied with our little fight to check where they are.” He’s maddeningly calm. It’s as if all the tribulations of the world are water off the duck’s back. As if they are all meaningless. “However, I do know that you are in the sixth level of Impel Down.”
Huh?
“Why-”
“I’ve deemed you too much of a threat, so you shall remain here.”
Huh?!
Your teeth grit. “Threat ‘how’? By freeing certain countries from-”
“You won’t be kept here for the rest of your life, though.”
…huh?
A few seconds of silence pass; silence filled with the cogs in your head turning, trying to make sense of his words; silence filled with Sengoku’s icy stare, gazing down upon you like he would an insect.
Eventually, he speaks again. “I’m giving you a second chance.” Your father takes a seat on the floor. “During your stay, you will reflect on your misdemeanors as a pirate, and only when you have admitted your wrongdoings, I will let you out to serve on the sides of the Marines once more, with your crimes cleared.”
Another small silence, as once again, you process what you were told.
Reflect?
Misdemeanors?
On the side of the Marines?
It’s as if you were a child caught stealing cookies past their bedtime, and as punishment, you were sent to timeout. Unable to interact with anybody, and nobody able to interact with you. To the ‘class’, you are nothing.
He’s treating you like a baby.
Nothing but a misbehaving kid, who needs to reflect on the mistake they made.
A little thing, who betrayed the Marines because they didn’t think too much about it; who committed their so-called crimes because they have poor impulse control.
How humiliating.
Festering and seething, mold from a fruit spreads to the others; starting at your heart, scattering to the rest of your limbs. It rots your bones, your muscles, barely peeking through the skin- climbing up your throat, threatening to tear apart your vocal cords as you open your mouth, the decay spilling from your lips.
“YOU BASTARD-!”

I love your comics about Crocodad! In the Canon dynamics...how do you think Croc would react realizing after years that he beat up his son in Alabasta?😂
-PChan
I'm happy you like my Crocodad comics PChan! ♥
Since very little time passes in canon between Crocodile getting beaten up by Luffy and the "Luffy is Dragon's son" reveal at Marineford (we're talking a month, give or take), it'd still be very fresh in his memory once he realizes!
Depending on what his feelings are regarding his child his reactions might be different! I think he'd be momentarily shocked at the reveal, but whether he'd feel guilty, angry or even proud really depends on why Crocodile didn't keep him/ how he feels about the pregnancy/ how he feels about Dragon in general?
He doesn't really seem like a guy to dwell on the past too much apart from his beef with Whitebeard, so of course the circumstances around Luffy's birth might also be something that he's got bottled up and that he might be impacted by now that his son is just within reach. I can see him adapt and course-correct quickly into wanting to see what Luffy can achieve, so he'd protect him. Whether he wants a relationship with him or not would influence whether he'd tell Luffy (Luffy's reaction is of course also up for debate. Luffy completely rejecting the idea of it is just one possibility *lol* He might want to make Crocodile his family, even though I'm not sure what it'll take for Luffy to get over Alabasta? He does seem to be chill around Crocodile after that initial anger, not that we get a lot of interactions.)
That said, since I like to imagine that Crocodile loved his child but knew he couldn't keep him, he'd feel bad about nearly killing him and maybe even curse Dragon mentally that the kid is here on this battlefield, with a target on his back because Sengoku just told everyone who he was. What was the point of the one act of sacrifice for the sake of safety they did as parents? I think he'd be angry and determined to make sure Luffy is going to make it off this battlefield alive. And after that he'd have time to sink into the pull of his old wounds, to feel all that guilt, despair, anger, longing and love. And then he'd either make sure his plans didn't interfere with Luffy, maybe even make sure wipe out obstacles in his way, or he'd tell him and he'd get to be a parent, now that Luffy's making a name for himself in his own right and the world knowing that Crocodile is his parent wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to Luffy in the grander scheme of things.
Now I ranted about more than you asked *lol* Many emotions about this.

Word Count: 2k words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being a pirate had its ups and downs. She was a pirate captain of her own crew, which can sometimes be a rowdy bunch. But she still cared about her crew like they are family, because to her, her crew is her family. She was friends with another fellow pirate crew. The Heart Pirates, their captain Trafalgar D. Water Law was an interesting man so to say. She felt attracted to the man, he was handsome. But there was a problem, the two everytime the crews met up, they danced around each other like a game of cat and mouse.
Right now was like any other day, it was surprisingly a calming day. The two crews were finally able to fully relax without having to worry about marines all the time wanting to capture them. So it felt nice to finally be able to relax and not stress about it. As per usual she and Law were bouncing around each other. Much to the two captains' crew's annoyance, it was completely obvious that the two were in love with each other.
Both their crews decided to explore the island leaving her and Law alone on the Polar Tang, she was reading a book sitting down outside on the deck of the submarine like ship, Law was nearby sharpening Kikoku. He was quiet the whole time that he did so, she was starting to get bored. She let out a small sigh, which gained the attention of the said man. He looked up at her, raising his eyebrow at her. She looked at him.
“What?” she asked, looking at the man. He simply shrugged.“Nothing. If you’re that bored, you can always explore the island with the others.” He grunted out in his deep voice. “Nah I’m good. I’m bored, yes. But I would rather spend my time getting to finally enjoy the sun. Instead of always having to worry about the damn marines.” She spoke, as she closed the book she was reading, laying it down on the side. He grunted acknowledging her words without speaking. He was a man of not many words. Even though he always looked grumpy all the time.
She will never say it to his face, that regardless of the fact The Surgeon of Death always looked grumpy, and unapproachable, to her he was a sweet man, who cared about those closest to him. So he wasn’t a heartless man everyone made him out to be. If he was heartless he wouldn’t have saved strawhats life after Marineford.
So the man had a heart, and he cared just that he had different ways to show it. She didn’t even realize that she was still staring at Law, until he cleared his throat which got her attention. He stood up. “I’m gonna make myself something to eat. Do you want anything to eat? I'm sure there's something in the kitchen that you might like.” Law said, turning and looking at her. It made her heart start racing, she nodded. “Yes please, I would like that thanks.” She smiled at him. They headed back inside. Heading to the dining area.
He went into the kitchen and made the two his favorite food Onigiri. His back was to her as he made the food. After he was done making the Onigiri he walked over to one of the tables she was sitting at, sitting one of the plates in front of her, and sat down with his plate of Onigiri right across from her. “Thanks Law.” She thanked the tattooed man across from her, he gave her a soft nod.
The two ate in silence, this was her second time trying his favorite food,it was really good. It made her heart swell that he was willing to share his favorite foods with her. Now if only he would share what was on his mind. The look he was giving while focusing on his plate made her shiver from the intensity. She kept sneaking glances at the man, curiosity burning in her whole body. He felt her looking at him, he looked up at her raising his eyebrow in the process. “What? Is there something on my face?” He asked her, there was a piece of rice at the corner of his lip.
“Actually yes there is.” She giggled, before she reached over and softly brushed the rice from the corner of his lip. That made the man blush a little bit. “Thank you.” He thanked the woman sheepishly, she giggled a bit with a shy smile on her face. “Of course Law.” She spoke softly, her face was flushed with a blush also. He looked up at her again. The two held eye contact for what felt like a long time, but was actually only five minutes.
He thought she was beautiful, and he won’t lie he was attracted to the woman across from him, and he was tired of this cat and mouse game the two played, he needed to man up and confess to her. But why was it so hard to do so? The man has plenty of opportunities to do so, like right now is a good time. He let out a sigh “can I admit something to you?” He asked the woman across from him. She looked at him. “Yeah? What is it?” She inquired, confused while looking at him.
“I… I like you.” He blurted out, making the woman start to blush at his words. She wasn’t stupid she knew what he was doing, he was confessing to her. “I l-like you too L-Law.” She spoke shyly, a blush still adorning her beautiful face. And regardless of the fact the two have already confessed he still was going to be respectful, and ask her one thing.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked her. She blushed even more at his question, but she nodded softly. He stood up walking over to the side of the table she sat at, he bent down to her height. Leaning in softly putting his lips against her own, she kissed him back. They held close together as they continued to kiss. Both were new to this and didn't want to process without making the other feel uncomfortable. They pulled away briefly for air, but quickly went back to kissing.
Room, Shambles he had shambled the two, to his room on the sub. The two were still kissing, as he laid her down softly on the bed. He pulled away from her lips, looking down at the woman underneath his larger body. Both of their faces are adorned with a blush. His eyes were blown wide with lust and love. But there was one little problem.
She was a virgin…. He saw the scared look on her beautiful face. “Are you okay? We can stop.” He said quickly, looking at the smaller woman worriedly. She shook her head, she didn’t want to stop. “No! No! It's just…I’m a virgin.” She whimpered. His eyes went wide for a bit, but then they went soft. “Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle, I promise. But if it’s too much, please tell me.” He spoke softly, but also very serious. “Yes Law.” She whispered, causing him to smile softly. He then started to kiss her neck softly. He lifted her shirt up softly, and unclipped her bra.
He looked at her breasts, she was utterly beautiful. “So beautiful.” He spoke softly, as he leaned down taking one of her nipples into his mouth, starting to suck on it. While he softly pinched and played with the other. She let out a small moan at him giving her chest love. He switched to the other one, putting it into his mouth, to give it the same treatment as well. Her moans were absolutely stunning. He started to kiss downwards, looking at her as he did so.
He made his way down to her shorts, he looked at her. Silently asking for her permission before continuing. She gave him a small nod of approval, causing him to start gently unbuttoning her shorts, pulling them down along with her underwear. She lifted up her bottom to give him easy access to take the two garments off. After he took said garments off her he threw them somewhere behind him. He took his shirt off, showing off his broad chest. He took his tattooed hands to her thighs, spreading them gently.
He looked at her glistening slit, he groaned lowly as he looked at her wetness. He leaned down, licking a stripe from her slit all the way to her clit. She let out a small moan at the pleasure she felt. He suddenly dove in, eating her out like a starved man, making sure to give her clit attention. She was letting out small moans as he ate her out. His thumb rubbing her clit softly. He took his other hand and brought it to her wet heat, sticking two of his fingers gently into her, and started to finger her softly.
She was letting out moans of pleasure into the room, letting him know it was making her feel so good. “L-Law it feels so g-good baby.~” she moaned out, causing the man to groan. As he continued to finger her, he started to suck on her clit gently. She felt something bubbling inside her, which caused her to move around, moaning out loudly. “L-Law I f-feel weird I f-feel something coming!” She moaned out into the air. “Let it out pretty girl, let it out.” He cooed against her clit, as he fingered her a little faster, curling his fingers as he did so.
She let out a loud shout of his name as she cummed all over the lower part of Law’s face, coating his goatee in her sweet essence, he drank up all that he could groaning from the sweet taste, he pulled away looking into her eyes, as he licked his lips sexily. Which made the woman let out a small whimper, a small blush adorning her cheeks.
He stood up, starting to unbuckle his belt, and unbuttoning his pants, he had taken his boots off ahead of time. As he started to pull his pants and underwear down, his hard member springing free, hitting his stomach, she looked at it and her face went even more red. He was huge! How was that gonna fit?! It was long, with a thick girth to it. The bright red tip was leaking precum from it.
He got back onto the bed, taking a hold of his member, as he got in between the woman's legs. She looked intimidated by the size. “I’ll be gentle, I promise. Do you trust me?” He asked her softly, she nodded. As she closed her eyes. “No, no. I want you to look at me sweetheart, look at me.” He spoke gently, causing the woman to open her eyes and look into Law’s grey eyes. “That's a good girl.” He cooed softly, as he started to push into her softly.
Tears started to spring to her eyes at the discomforting stretch, he was holding her close to him, as he kissed the side of her face gently, trying to distract her as he continued to push into her gently. He stopped as soon as he was all the way in, letting her adjust to his size. He remained holding her close the whole time.
“You can move.” She whispered, he started to slowly thrust into her, being as gentle as possible, because of it being her first time. He settled with gentle thrusting, groaning out as he thrusted into her tight, wet heat. “God, your so tight sweetheart, feels so good around me, pretty girl. Taking me so well.” He cooed softly, praising her as he did so. She was moaning out from the pleasure.
“A little faster, please Law.” She moaned out, he started to speed up with his thrusting, still remaining gentle as he did so, the bed squeaking underneath the two, as he continued his thrusting, his member hitting her sweet spot each time. She dug her fingers into his back as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He loved listening to her sweet moans, like music to his ears.
He brought a hand down to her clit, rubbing it as he continued his movements, the head of his member kissing her cervix with each thrust into her, she let out louder moans cause she felt close again, she dug her nails into his back, as she arched her back, letting out a loud moan of the man's name. He felt her squeeze around him, making him groan out. As he continued to thrust sloppily into her, he was close himself.
He suddenly pulled out, his essence spurted onto her stomach, he let out a groan from it. The room was quiet after that, besides the two currently catching their breaths. He stood up from the bed and picked up a clean rag from his laundry, and cleaned her stomach softly, leaning down and kissing her lips softly, after he finished he threw the rag across the room, not caring about where it landed. He laid down next to the woman, bringing her close to him. Kissing the side of her head softly.
“Are you doing okay?” He asked her softly, she nodded into his chest. Nuzzling more into him and taking in his manly scent, she closed her eyes, exhausted from the events that happened. He smiled, kissing the side of her head again, closing his eyes as well. The two lovebirds fall asleep in each other's embrace.
Law & Robin analysis: Punk Hazard
I finally have some free time to re-read punk hazard and write my analysis. (have been busy with life in general :/) Someone on twitter asked me to write a chronology of lawbin's relationship, so I will just do it arc by arc.
Again, if you don't like lawbin, just don't read it. Please be civilize and respect each other.
As usual, I blab a lot in my analysis so just skimming if you want to. I will use purple to indicate my delulu thoughts.
~LAWBIN STRANGER PHASE~
Chapter 503: Law & Robin first met
When I read this chapter or even when I watching punk hazard for the first time, I didn't really associate Law and Robin together. I just think they are both really cool and rational. But after I ship them, as I re-reading these chapters, my only thought is - they are really similar in so many ways.
The first time law appeared in front of luffy resemble Robin first appearance on going merry so much. I mean did you see their aura?! did you see the both cross their leg?! did you see them saying "we are bad ass" on their face?! did you see they are both wearing their signature hat?! Bepo is even doing Robin's pose (face resting on their hand) They are both so cool T-T
If I'm Law here, seeing Robin falling from the sky like an angel, I will 100% falling for her. Plus, she's the only person from straw hats recognize him. He probably recognize Robin right away too he just didn't say it because straw hats got famous after Eneis Lobby. And Robin is the devil child for 20 years, so he probably already know her and her background. Maybe he alliance with straw hats, just to get closer with Robin (jk)
Let's fast forward to Punk Hazard! Chapter 663: Reunion two years later
Tashigi probably asked herself: What's wrong with this couple?! Why they need to threaten me like that?! LOL Again, they are really similar when the marine gets in their way. Show no mercy. Reading this makes me feel like Law (Sabaody -> Punk Hazard) = Robin (Alabasta).
Law also saves Luffy in Marineford like Robin did in Alabasta, it also happends before they join or alliance with Luffy. They both save Luffy because he's a D. (I just assume, they both said something about D after saving Luffy).
I always think did Oda make them similar on purpose? I think Oda didn't make them similar on purpose before Dressrosa. He probably just reusing some of the plots but accidentally make them so compatible together. Why would I think that? one of the reasons is there are so many Franky x Robin moments in Punk Hazard. If the source I read is correct, Law and Robin get popular during and after Dressrosa and I think that's the reason why there are more lawbin interactions later on. Not that I think Oda really care popular opinion, it's more like why not since they are so similar?! just my opinion tho.
I blab a lot again, I will show more moments later on about Law Punk Hazard vs. Robin Alabasta!
Once they met again, Robin is again the first one know his name and know he became a warlord. She also probably read the news that how he became a warlord. Hence, that's why she is worried when Luffy alliance with him. But as time passed, she definitely changed her perspective on Law gradually. As you see here, she is still very cautious about him. But once she learned that he healed Luffy, she surprised, a pirate treated another pirate without purpose?! maybe in Robin's mind, Law isn't a really bad pirate to her anymore.
Chapter 668: Alliance
Robin looked super worried here. Although maybe Law isn't a really bad pirate to Robin, she probably thinks he is still a very dangerous pirate that's why she warned Luffy about him. It's kind of funny to me though, she just says it in front of him, screaming "I don't trust you bro" lol Luffy is even funnier - "Are you gonna betray me?" "No" Ok we good haha To be honest, I'm not against with the Luffy and Robin are siblings theory because they are really similar in some way. Anyways, Robin still trust Luffy no matter what, so I think from this moment, she is also trying to trust Law like Luffy did. This scene also reminds me so much when Robin joins the crew. The crew is very cautious and Luffy just said "She isn't a bad guy" - The coincidence LOL. Ok I changed my mind maybe Oda made them similar on purpose. Law & Robin also are the ones who initiated a relationship with Luffy. And it happens rarely to Luffy since he is always the one who picks his crew. And Robin is the only straw hats who asked to join the crew and not Luffy asking her.
~LAWBIN ALLIANCE PHASE~
Chapter 668: Alliance Starts!
Law and chopper moment and mammy Robin didn't against with it haha. She is giving me the *Please take my son carefully* vibe and Law *panics*.
From here, Law and Robin starting to show their similarities in personality and experience wise. They both paid a lot of attention to what the world government do and both very analytical. One of the optwt accounts also comment about lawbin “it’s not about how many scenes they are together, it’s mainly about what they have in common” which I agree a lot!
Chapter 669 ~ 677: Same cage as Alabasta
Again - angel fallen from heaven?! How can you not fall for her?! Robin also told Luffy to be quiet about the kidnap, seems like she accepted their alliance and starting to follow Law's plan. From scale 1 - 100%, I would say Robin trusted Law 20% here.
Rare scene of Robin calling "Law" instead of "Tora-o". When I read this, I feel like Robin is impressed of Law's ability already. Feel like she always has been (in Wano too), it's definitely a handy ability for her in so many ways.
Robin and Luffy reminiscing Alabasta moment - one of the proof that Punk Hazard is so similar to Alabasta even they said so haha. If that's the case, I think Oda really make Law so similar to Robin on purpose (scratch the part I said earlier). Even their clothes are similar in some way. Robin's jacket is leopard pattern which is similar to Law's hat, jacket and jeans pattern. Also, Law's animal resemblances are spotted seal and snow leopard. (but this arc released before Law's animal revelation so probably just coincidence)
Law, I know this woman is really pretty, you don't need to keep looking at her. (jk I think he's looking at franky haha)
And Law cares about Chopper even they just met T-T he used his power to throw a paper to Chopper and remind him to not risk himself. Seriously, who the hell say he is mean to chopper? (i'm gonna have my rage again)
Chapter 694 ~ 696: Party
This scene really reminds me of Robin a lot haha saying scary things in a clam manner. If I really need to pick a difference, Law dark thoughts are more logical though, he is just stating the fact. Robin dark thoughts are more creative haha.
Law this moment also reminds me of skypeia Robin - when she suggests Luffy to be careful but of course turns out he didn't listen to them anyways. and Law & Robin panic hahaha.
That's why Punk Hazard Law is basically Alabasta Robin + when Robin trying to blend in with the straw hats. He is still trying to learn how Luffy acts and building trust between them just like what Robin did back then.
That's the end for Punk Hazard! I thought it would be shorter because they only have a few moments but yea I blab a lot LOL In conclusion, I would say Law and Robin is still in Stranger -> Ally phase. Robin and Law barely trust each other in this arc. But I think during this arc, they found out their personality and thoughts are similar. Hence, that's lead to the huge development of their relationship in the next arc. At least, Robin saw Law did what he plans, helped them save the kids even he didn't need to and didn't betray them after they caught Ceaser. She definitely started trusting him more, maybe 40%? haha
I definitely need a bit time to re-read Dressrosa. So the next analysis probably take some time! anyways, thanks for reading again!! always feel free to let me know your thoughts <3
i've come to again harass angel in her inbox because i can and i can't be stopped >:3c
one piece can admittedly be intimidating to get into because of the length so what finally got you to start and what was the arc that really got you hooked for the rest of the ride? and what were your thoughts on.... these following arcs: water 7/enies lobby, amazon lily, marineford and fishman island (underrated and overhated imo cough cough)jnfksdjfn thanks for indulging me!
(🥺and thanks for your comments on my stories, you're always so sweet)
nyla!!! you're always welcome in my inbox <3
also !!! this is gonna be a LONG answer, so let me go ahead and add a "read more" thing
I, like many people, ended up getting into one piece bc of the live action. my boyfriend had been asking me to watch op with him for a while and, like a fool, I always said it was too long for me (I watched all 15 seasons of supernatural, but somehow one piece was too much lol). then the live action came out and I really liked it. I wanted to know more about op, so we started watching the anime and I was immediately in love with everything.
the arc that got me really hooked and made me want to watch the remaining 1000-and-something episodes happened very early on, actually. it's arlong park. Nami is my favorite Straw Hat, and although I liked her from the second she was introduced, this arc really planted the seeds for my love for her to grow. fun fact, Nami's backstory was the first point in op during which I cried! during this arc I decided Nami would be my favorite Straw Hat, and she has remained my favorite ever since.
okay, now, I'm gonna add a title for each arc so it's easier to see it.
water 7/ennies lobby
it's one of my favorite arcs. if you had told me, before I watched it, that I would cry over a ship, I wouldn't have believed you. A lot of things hurt during this: usopp and luffy's fight, kaku's betrayal, robin being willing to dying bc she felt she was putting them in danger...
honestly, this arc really drove home the found family aspect in the show. the fact that they were all willing to declare war on the world government if it meant bringing robin back to them was so heartwarming, and it speaks volumes about their bonds. robin had spent so much of her life thinking she was a danger to others, that she'd never find people who'd love her as much, and seeing her realize that they'd burn the damn world for her made me tear up.
while on the subject of the straw hats, this was a key point for me when it comes to robin bc, before this arc, I didn't care about her all that much. like, of course I liked her, but she wasn't in my favorites, you know? also, this might be controversial but aside from thinking franky was sorta funny, idgaf about him at this point lol.
amazon lily
nyla, when I tell you I cried so much when they got separated, even knowing they'd get back together later on.
that aside, I enjoyed the amazon lily arc. it's not one of my favorites, but I liked it. I think I don't have many thoughts on it, if I'm being honest. I really loved the blond girl that made Luffy clothes, but as for other characters that's pretty much it.
I think Boa Hancock is pretty iconic, but I have mixed feelings about her. Medusa is one of the most prominent figures in Greek mythology nowadays (specifically, the version from the myth where she's turned into a gorgon, not born that way), and I really liked the parallels between the two. Boa is certainly a beautiful woman, whom men want to take advange of, and who uses her power to turn them to stone because she knows this. I think her backstory was very sad, and is the reason why she's so cold towards men.
my only thing against her is that her crush on luffy is annoying, but I try to think of it as similar to sanji's obsession with women which, though annoying at times, is mostly something meant to be funny and not at all taken seriously.
marineford
pain.
just, pain. i was tense and one second away from crying throught the entire arc.
literally all throughout the arc, and even though i knew from way before how it would end, i kept telling myself that luffy would make it, luffy would save ace. ace would live and i would feel so silly for crying before anything bad happened.
I was the embodiment of the phrase "The Nile is a river in egypt"
god, i cried so much when ace died. literally didn't want to watch one piece for over a week after it happened. and i don't remember if this happened during this arc or one of the next, but when garp went to see dadan? so much pain.
also, i know people say that garp helped enough by not fighting luffy seriously, but god damnit i have so much resentment towards him for not doing more. not only because ace was his fucking grandson, and he shouldn't have allowed ace's pride to prevent him from helping him (i mean, ace was too prideful to ask luffy to save him, but luffy still tried), but also because my dude!!! you're not staying loyal to the just and lawful "values" of the marines!!! you're being loyal to fuckers who say pirates are evil, but then turn a blind eye on human trafficking and slavery!!! he's staying loyal to a corrupt system over his family!!!
that made me really angry with garp, still am tbh. like, i know he's hurting and whatever, but he stood up for a corrupt system who punishes people they deem evil (even when the "evil" people do something good) and let's human trafficking go unpunished.
also I got a lil angry at ace too, cause they were so close to escaping, but he had to turn around because the lava dude was talking shit. i cried like a baby when that asshole killed him, and to this day whenever that fucker appears on the screen I cuss him out. I also refuse to say his name, he has no right to be called by his name after what he did.
fishman island
honestly, i genuinely enjoyed this arc. like, aside from sanji being in constant mortal danger bc of all the beautiful sirens, I thought it had some pretty funny moments.
then regarding more serious topics, i thought this was a solid arc. i liked that hody jones, in spite of being obviously wrong and evil, was a believable villain. I have to admit I like stories where society creates their own villain because of their unnecessary and completely stupid mistreatment of someone. I think it really reflects that sometimes, monsters are monsters just because someone thought they were and treated them as such, not because they were one to begin with (I'm thinking about Shigaraki and his villain group from bnha)
of course, this doesn't completely apply to hody jones, but I do think part of why it was so easy for Arlong to instill his beliefs in Hody and co was because humans treated fishmen poorly. even if Hody hadn't suffered directly at the hands of humans.
if humans had been kinder, arlong's hatred of them, and therefore hody's, wouldn't have existed.
I think this was also when they introduced the "voice of all things", right? anyhow, I thought that was pretty neat.
I agree that this arc is overhated and underrated. I think there's some elements to it that make it stand out, and while it's not in my favorite arcs list, it's an arc that I'd definitely rewatch.
last thoughts
out of all of this arcs, water 7/ennies lobby and marineford are my favorites.
I'm finally making progress on my event so hopefully tomorrow I'll have results but no promises because I get home an hour later and have to vote at an HOA right after so I'll be even later than usual getting home (for context, normally, when I get home and start writing immediately I can finish a chapter/one shot just before I need to shower and go to bed IMMEDIATELY with minimal distractions. Same for art pieces actually. It's unfortunate but it is what it is).
The rest is me rambling about an OC story ideas
In the meantime, while I've been at work, I've been trying to decide what I like better for Nikia's story. Mostly because I'm bored to tears and there's only so many reddit stories you can listen to before your brain melts. Specifically the growing up and how/why she runs into WBP.
At first I wanted it to be on her first mission that would start her career as an Elite Ranger, which has a slew of requirements above just being a regular ranger. It would also net her her own cabin and the most freedom of schedule and movement. Elite Rangers don't usually manage your groups or host outside of emergencies because they need to leave at a moments notice to take care of disturbances. But that didn't give her much time to be good at what she does enough to be an unknown at Marineford, though I teased the idea of her low-key revealing herself before ultimately deciding she'd never land at Marineford cause she wouldn't touch that shit with a 10 foot pole.
So I thought a decent way to bring WBP to her is them taking the island under their control by absorbing the pirates that previously claimed the island under their protection. It wasn't long before I decided it would be a nice, cute backstory if her mother was rescued by said pirates when Nikia was young so the captain ended up being her father figure. And it would be nice is he was old friend with Whitebeard though they don't talk much since he settled down a little to keep near his new favorite island.
I was thinking the "Many Hands Pirates" or "Clover Pirates" as their specialty is knowing someone for any job. Really low-key and social. They're the ones that organized the personal security force on the islands into what it is today--which is terrifyingly efficient and low-key, as well as the concept of Elite Rangers.
Anyway, they're the ones who deliver the bad news to Nikia about Teach and whatnot and are shocked at her reaction. As well as the ones that take her to Marineford knowing damn well she'll be about cloud height and ready to take whatever shot she needs to while everyone else catches up.
Prefers that, actually, because while he doesn't have those old fashioned "keep women out of the fight" ideas, he doesn't want his adopted daughter to be fighting Marines either. He taught her to fight dirty and hit hard for a reason damnit!
That and I wanted a really sweet moment where Thatch gets a little shovel talk and Whitebeard gets tetchy so he looks at him and says "You look after your kids, let me look after mine... By the way, I don't give a shit who your father is, make her cry like that again or string her along and I'll wear your balls for a coin purse."
Or maybe I just grew up around too many people with pig farms so my idea of protective is a tad intense. Idk.
Anyway, the idea of her growing up with an off and on again pirate father seemed fun. There to look into her milestones and provide a unique perspective.
Also I get to have a weird fertility/sexual health festival where someone (maybe Thatch) commits a faux pa of asking for the berries specifically harvested at the very start (which is only picked by of age/began puberty girls/women). It's a faux pa because they're very obvious symbolism and meant only to be eaten by the one that picks them or the one that they intent to have "fruitful relations" with. Given freely, of course. So asking is INCREDIBLY BOLD and depending on how old the girl is, INSANELY CREEPY AND INAPPROPRIATE as the berries have sexual health benefits as well as (believed) aphrodisiac qualities, but like... Chocolate does. Unless you're already DTF odds are you won't feel anything.
Anyway, Nikia gets very flustered and horrified and it's up to her father to explain why that was a terrible thing to ask outright. Let alone in public and they're lucky everyone knows they're strangers to the festival and asked someone at least of appropriate age.
There's a special part of the festival before dawn where the berries still attached to flowers are picked by those mourning mothers passed in childbirth who carry them from the hill all the way to the water (beach or cliff, haven't decided) to give the unripe fruit to the sea, picked before their time. Mostly because I wanted Ace to get to have a moment where he properly, openly honors his mother and it makes sense to have a moment of memoriam for women who passed like that in a festival meant to encourage sexual health and well-being in primarily women.
This festival takes place in the first part of January to open a new year and prepare the land/people for spring. Specifically when a large part of the snow melts on Winter Island and over waters the Snowmelt Berries, making the usually spicy berries very ripe, juicy, and sweet. Prone to popping in your hand so it's quite messy but also the reason there are so many damn bushes on Winter Island. It's impossible to overforage these berries, they grow to fast and so many. The snow quickly returns at the end of the month, halting the rapid growth the island had previously been enjoying.
Summer Island feels like fall/winter during this time and usually gets a bit of snow lol
#mittens rambles#mittens mild update#one piece oc#world building#every culture has at least one “have all the babies” celebration#they just do okay#just like a harvest festival and a “this is when its SUPER SPOOKY NOW” celebration
character analysis (Luffy)
Luffy is definitely my favourite MC ever and i will now be explaining my reasons why.
he is painfully honest. i think this is one of the many reasons why he is so well liked, by other characters and readers alike. Luffy does not have any thinking bubbles in the manga nor an inner voice in the anime and that really sets him apart from every other MC in any other anime/manga that i’ve watched/read before. it is not that he doesn’t think at all, it is because he just thinks out loud. his transparency makes people trust him because there is nothing to doubt. every and all of his thoughts, his personality, is for all to see and judge for themselves. he does not have any underlying intentions nor does he try to make others have a certain view of him. you are free to interpret his actions and intentions however you want (but there is nothing much to interpret because his intentions are already obvious enough). Luffy’s vulnerability as well as his single-mindedness to achieve his goal is admirable and makes him a likeable and trustworthy MC.
another related reason is that he is quite literally unable to lie well, having tell-tale signs when he even tries to. or whenever he picks up the phone he will introduce himself with his name as well as who he is no matter who picks up the phone on the other end. he puts himself out there, his true and honest self, simple and uncomplicated. it’s easy for us to understand what kind of person he is right from the beginning because he is so honest. it is not even that he is one-dimensional, his characterisation is deep yet not complicated at all. it’s a line difficult to balance, having a character that is quite literally the definition of being single-minded but at the same time having depth. But Oda presents this sentiment in Luffy so well that he is quick to become my favourite MC of all time.
an interesting trait of his character that stems from his honesty would be his moral ambiguity. it makes him authentic and realistic, refreshing for a shonen anime at the time. sometimes it is obvious that he is good yet as he said, he doesn’t want to be a hero. of course in OP, pirates are often seen as bad guys and the Government is good to normal citizens. yet time and time we see that some pirates are good and some Marines are bad. and where exactly does Luffy stand in this? to me, he is not fixed at any certain point. again, reiterating how he leaves his intentions, whether they are good or bad, up to interpretation. just like how he did so during the Fishmen Arc. even though he is supposed to be seen as a hero, all the circumstances would point to it, he still would not say so. this to me, was significant because it reminded me of who he is. a pirate, not some kind of hero, even though his actions can be hero-like. Luffy is a man of action, and whenever he does boldly claim something, he will back it up with his actions.
he is a good leader. what makes him a good leader can be summed up in two factors. his contagious will as well as his humility. after i, myself, have been thrown into leadership positions, i honestly respect and admire the way Luffy leads. i often wonder to myself “what does it take to lead?”
1. it is because of the way he inspires, not forces. he doesn’t need to convince his crew, they all decided to follow him willingly. that was when i realised that he influences them without any coercion. even so, he is well-respected because of his actions and his drive. he influences and inspires those around him even without knowing. like we’ve seen in the Marineford Arc, his mere presence changed the tide of the war because of how he motivates even those who are way above him in terms of strength like Whitebeard. this is probably why OP is an anime that many people grew up with and loved so much. (maybe also because it’s been airing for around 20 years but for argument’s sake i’ll talk about this too) Luffy’s drive and enthusiasm is contagious which makes him such a good leader. he doesn’t have to force his will on others, in fact he is quite against doing that. you can see him as a friend yet when push comes to shove, he steps up easily, not only in giving commands but also in his role to protect his crew as the captain. he also made me realise that leading is not just telling people what to do or doing everything yourself, it is someone who you can depend on, someone who you can trust, look up to and respect.
2. he knows he cannot make it on his own. and he knows that it makes him weak. it is truly amazing how easily he places his life into his crew’s hands. he relies on them to do the things that he knows he cannot. it makes him a good leader because he knows that he is a part of a unit; where each and every one of them have their own role and he knows his is to lead as well as protect them. which is why it makes him a good leader. Luffy readily receives help if he needs it and is extremely thankful for it too.
OKAY OKAY SO first of all i already said this in dms but you're right reading marineford first is an insane decision for many reasons. but at the same time i bet it has given you a fascinating introduction to the story so i respect it
putting the rest under read more because i have never been concise in my life and i was not about to start today, clearly
secondly, the law-cora-sengoku dynamic is something alright. imagine the family dinners. i STILL haven't reached the sengoku bit in dressrosa (the person i'm watching with is away for the weekend so we have made no progress), but i cannot WAIT to see him and law in a scene together. what an awkward foundation for a relationship. would be even more awkward in the benefits universe where law has to call up sengoku and be like "hey so about that."
(who am i kidding, law is absolutely NOT calling up sengoku. cora might, eventually, but tbh i think the funnier option is that he stalls long enough that he gets a wanted poster simply by association with the heart pirates, and sengoku has his peaceful morning perusal of the newspaper interrupted by his Definitely Used To Be Dead Son's picture among the bounties. and under that name? seriously?)
(...okay maybe the name thing isn't that surprising.)
ALSO FHKDLGFDHJ YOU'RE SO RIGHT the sanji-zoro-kuina dynamic is diametrically opposed. they just each have some very deeply ingrained beliefs and views that make them incapable of getting along. zoro knew this was going to happen. he was dreading this day. nami is patting him on the back in solidarity but secretly she's glad he's getting a taste of what he and sanji are like to the rest of the crew on any other day.
though of course to be fair sanji is NOT an active participant in the fights, but that obviously makes kuina even more mad, and it's a whole vicious cycle. honestly, i think in the actual canon source material that's a difference they Couldn't get over, not with how sanji is. but it's MY fic and I choose the characterization i can bend to my will, so. they can get some mutual understanding. as a treat.
THE LAWLU FAE THING OKAY. okay. see in my mind the defining things about fae are the real name thing, the food thing, and the (not) lying/promises. and law fits them all in a pretty conventional fae sense. but LUFFY oh my god. he ALSO fits them all but like very to the left. this is a guy who introduces himself by his full name to anyone he meets. he doesn't give a shit about any conventions, or convoluted dynamics, or lies by omission. but most importantly he believes in freedom so strongly that the idea of owning someone or being owned by someone is just... inconceivable to him.
in the reverse scenario law is just trying to, hell, throw his hands up and give up on his life by quite literally handing it over to someone else. but he just HAPPENS to stumble upon the world's most unconventional fae who doesn't want that, thank you very much, and gives him a nickname, and won't leave him the fuck alone to try it with someone else either. (and law just thinks he's a minor nuisance, one of those faeries who cause small-scale mischief, right up until he gets a demonstration of just how powerful luffy really is, and then. then he's just more confused tbh)
cannibalism 🥰🥰🥰 see i'm not very good at writing doomed relationships - i like my happy endings, i can't imagine myself getting motivated enough to writing a fully tragic story, or even heavy angst - but my god is there ever something so tasty about the concept, especially in the way you described it skhgfrjdhkf. especially with zoro and sanji (a guy who made protecting his crew his entire life's mission, and a guy who is shown time and time again to be self-sacrificial to a fault), and they both have this NEED to keep the other safe, but in this scenario, these are incompatible goals. and they are not exactly the sort to sort stuff out with ~healthy communication~, so it festers. they resent each other for pushing it, and themselves for being in this situation, and if only i had been better, then it wouldn't be like this in the first place-
(anyway if i ever write this it will not be anything nearly as dramatic. my writing brand is generally lighthearted with maybe a few deep conversations thrown into the mix. but by god its fun to think about)
I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKE MY IDEAS MAN...... i'd be absolutely happy to talk about them more, as you can tell i cannot keep my mouth shut ever :D also oh my god "blessing the narrative" THATS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS....... luffy has changed everyone around him on such a fundamental level that even if he doesn't remember anything, everyone who does will go on to cause every ripple effect ever. they're changing this damn world for the better now that they know how it goes, because it's the right thing to do, and also because their captain/friend/saviour/etc will be so disappointed if they don't. (i have precisely one scene drafted for this idea, and it's robin talking to cora on minion island. yes i may be a little obsessed with letting cora live, but in my defence he deserves it.)
(also the cora and ace resurrection shenanigans are, indeed, cora-and-ace resurrection shenanigans. yes it's unrealistic. yes it makes less sense. but you're damn right it compels me too. i just. i really don't like characters dying okay-)
ANYWAY THIS ALSO GOT VERY VERY LONG BUT THANK YOU SOSO MUCH THE OPPORTUNITY TO YELL IS ALWAYS VERY APPRECIATED <333
i think i would go insane for literally any of the fics u mentioned in the tags of that post??? SEQUEL TO THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING WITH STRANGERS???????? (i read that fic twice in a row the first time) i would love to see the interplay between sanji's ideals/hangups and shimotsuki "i take no bullshit" kuina. sanji offering himself up in the most literal sense to feed someone else. listen the cannabalism as an act of service. help im losing my mind. also i can only imagine the degree of "????????" going through ace's mind every step of the way through a lesson in changing the world. dude im going to be thinking about this Forever. that's not even half of what you've got going through my brain
OH DUDE THIS IS SO NICE OF YOU DHEJDKEKJD I WILL BE USING THIS AS MOTIVATION
benefits is def one of my favourite things i’ve ever written (i LOVE cora SO MUCH) so i really want to write that one! i’m at the very end of the dressrosa arc in the anime by now so im just looking forward to the sengoku scene, because i want to like get the vibes before i write his and rosi’s reunion yknow
the sanji and kuina thing oh my god i have that fic half written, but then i went insane about marineford and temporarily lost the drive, but i still maintain that the concept of it would be SO FUN to explore. kuina and sanji just fundamentally Can’t Get Along with how sanji is in canon, and zoro is in the middle of that particular clash…
CANNIBALISM AS AN ACT OF SERVICE OH MY GOD……. you know. vampire stuff is so normalised in our storytelling that i do not instinctively consider it cannibalism. but holy shit you’re right it fucking is and oh my god hold on there’s something about zeff here- AHEM point is cannibalism as an act of service is always a beloved trope i need to think about this more.
and yes it’s SO funny to imagine how confused ace is throughout a lesson in changing the world, i am Really excited to write that one. there’s a lot of stuff from his pov that the marines wouldn’t know about, like the whole luffy and the prisoners on a warship thing, but especially the thought process he’s going through in the time leading up to his execution and up on the platform is SOOO interesting to think about, so im excited :D
ANYWAY OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH AND IF YOU THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW because i always want to yell about my ideas or other people’s ideas!!!!
an ode to luffy and zoro and the passage of time. i wrote this a while ago and recently edited it enough to feel comfortable posting here! it started as a relationship analysis then kind of got away from me, but i hope you enjoy my little thoughts and headcanons nonetheless
(will start under the cut)
they still fit
the thing about zolu is that their intrinsic understanding of one another allows them to communicate with each other without the use of actual words. which on one hand is like so romantic on its own bc goddam u love someone so much u know them or what they want just with a glance but on the other hand can also lead to problems bc. well as much as they know each other there are gonna be things that NEED to be said, but therein lies the problem. because they’re so used to not having to say anything that if a situation came where they ever had to actually explain themselves to the other i imagine it would not go very smoothly. because luffy is not really one to talk about highly emotional things and zoro is not one to talk in general. and that’s why they work bc neither of them cares for the whys or hows they just DO. sometimes, though, for things to work you HAVE TO TALK and they’re not used to that.
so like post timeskip when they’re reunited and still trying to get used to everyone being around again i’d imagine a lot of things would go unsaid between zoro and luffy bc they both had their fair share of things to deal with over the two years they were separated. luffy and impel down and marineford and ACE god. ace. and zoro and mihawk and his training and the baboons. monkeys. whatever. and they both have new scars that the other hasn’t seen and they’ve both grown in multiple ways and i think they both realize that they won’t fit like they used to. everything is different and new and it’s not BAD per say but it’s. weird. they don’t want to talk about it because they’ve never NEEDED to talk about it before and starting now would mean that they’ve changed, would make it real. but now it’s like there are so many things that they just don’t know about each other anymore and they don’t know how to feel about that.
it’s not horrendous and doesn’t impede on the group dynamic at first because they figure time will sort them out as it usually does, but i’d imagine their relationship does become a bit strained bc as much as they trust each other to do what they need to do, it’s hard to have full confidence in someone when you haven’t seen them in 2 years and feel like you don’t truly KNOW them anymore.
so they fight and they eat (more so on luffy’s part) and they nap (more so on zoro’s part) but there’s always this niggling feeling that something is not quite RIGHT. that they’ve all filled in the roles they were meant to just like always, but something hasn’t clicked yet. and the rest of the crew feel it too bc as normal as they act, zoro and luffy don’t have that sense of easiness around each other that they used to.
it’s like everything is back where it’s supposed to be, but they’ve grown too big for the holes they left to fill in two years ago. no matter how much they claw and dig, they’re stuck in these places that are meant to be theirs, but are small and uncomfortable and don’t quite manage to hold all that they are now.
i’d imagine that it’d eventually come to a head during battle, where luffy and zoro fall out of sync for the first time since. since EVER and it nearly costs someone their life and they KNOW that. everyone is fine in the end but the idea that them not understanding each other enough that it caused them to mess up when it really counted scares them.
and maybe it’s nami or maybe it’s sanji or maybe it’s all of them, everyone else, but they can’t take this weird in-between their captain and first mate have fallen into, so they put them somewhere, tell them to “FIGURE IT OUT.” and leave them.
and it’s quiet. all those times of ‘not having to say anything’ leave them scrambling in this moment, because now there are words that NEED to be said but they don’t know what or how to say them, and so they’re quiet. but luffy’s never been good with silence or stillness and so he does what luffy does best, meaning whatever he feels like in the moment.
he just scooches a bit closer, traces the scar bisecting zoro’s eye, and zoro lets him. doesn’t flinch or question it, just accepts his fate as he’s always done when it comes to his captain and allows luffy to do whatever he wants, because then it must be what zoro wants too.
then luffy places a palm on zoro’s chest, over the scar mihawk gave him two years ago (the scar that sealed zoro’s fate, tied him to luffy’s will forever) and follows it with his fingers, from collarbone down to where his haramaki prevents his hand from going any further. his gaze is pensive but tender, and his touch is so soft and fleeting—gentle in a way zoro didn’t know his captain could be.
he brings his hand back up to zoro’s chest and rests it over the swordsman’s heart, lets it stay there for a moment. luffy watches his own hand on zoro’s chest, as if trying to see through his skin to the heart that’s beating a steady rhythm underneath. zoro watches luffy through it all, so he catches the captain’s quiet smile, as if he’s content with what he’s found hidden between zoro’s ribcage.
luffy draws his hand back after a minute to place it over his own scarred chest (over the starburst pattern that carries deeper pain than just broken nerves and raw skin) and points at his eye, his scar crinkling up with the force of his grin.
“zoro! we match now!”
then he’s laughing that little shishishi of his that sounds mischievous and full of promise and so luffy that zoro can’t help but crack a smile of his own. he chuckles breathlessly, because having luffy smile at him freely once more—without that twinge of unsurety that he’s been sporting ever since they reunited—knocks something around in zoro’s lungs, pushes up up up into his throat and leaves him choking.
it’s love, he realizes. it’s always been love.
it had been driving zoro crazy, that smile that wasn’t really a smile. made him want to grab luffy and shake him by the shoulders, made him want to shout “WHAT IS IT? WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET YOU TO STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?” because zoro really would have done whatever luffy had asked, if it meant things could go back to how they were. but he knew that was impossible and he knew it wasn’t his place to question, so he’d kept his mouth shut and felt a little piece of himself crumble off and die whenever luffy’s hand stalled right before making contact with him.
it was as if luffy didn’t know if he still had the permission to touch, like he didn’t know if zoro still wanted it.
and zoro did want it, he always does. he had really missed the familiarity and trust that came with his captain’s tactility. he simply didn’t know how to formulate the words, how to ask luffy for his hands without feeling just a little bit pathetic.
but none of that matters now because they are here and they are laughing and luffy feels weeks worth of tension slide off his shoulders. he feels his heavy heart snap back into place like his rubber limbs, pumping blood up to his cheeks and nose and maybe a bit too much to his brain too, because he feels lightheaded and airy and free, like he could float away any second. but it’s okay because zoro is wrapping his arms around him and neither of them are going anywhere.
they’ve gotten older and put on some pounds and muscle and scars since they last held each other like this, but that ‘something’ finally shifts and clicks into place and luffy finds his body still fits perfectly against zoro’s own. it’s as if they had been waiting for each other, had been learning and changing just so they could slide back into place even more snug than before.
he realizes that trying to force themselves to fit into those empty spaces they used to occupy two years ago would never work, doesn’t even know why they kept trying to make it, because they’re different now but that’s a GOOD thing.
the zoro and luffy of two years ago are dead and gone, buried six feet under their grief and anger and loss, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make new places for these new versions of themselves. they’ve grown and changed and that just means there’s more of them for the other to love.
everything’s not perfect, not yet. there’s still things they need to discuss, but it’s definitely a start and that’s better than anything to either of them right now. luffy looks and sees in zoro’s eyes that his swordsman feels the same way.
neither of them have to say it, but they know that things’re gonna be alright, and that’s more than enough.
#idk why the spacing got so weird sorry 💀#anyway i put this on twitter so i figured i might as well put it here too!!!!#i dont often share my writing so i hope u like and feel free to lmk what u think ☺️#zolu#words
Sometimes i remember how a lot of people were surprised that oda would go the destiny chosen one route as if luffy hasn't been shown to be the chosen one from the beginning like,how much in denial can ppl be?!😭😭
Like there are way too many moments in the story that show that luffy is the chosen one let's start:
Luffy surviving being almost beheaded by buggy by a lightning strike,we still don't know if dragon did that so I'm counting this too,him surviving that felt like the heavens intervening,smoker says as if the world wants him to survive.
The constant comparisons to Roger,constant mentions of how lucky he is.He is the son of the revolutionary Dragon,the grandson of Garp,I'm mentioning his family bc his family is the reason he's so strong and talented,he inhereted it from them,as garp was saying in marineford that luffy was really born with it just like dragon and him and ivankov mentioned it too.
He has the voice of all things,the comparisons to joyboy,whitebeard saying that luffy is the one roger is waiting for and the one who will carry the history on his shoulders and find the one piece.
He is a d clan member,has Roger's hat,everyone that meets him says that he is special.It is also said that the d people are destined for greatness.
The mayor of Luffy's town talking about if Luffy's dream of becoming a pirate is his dream or his destiny?
When luffy was about to leave for fishman island rayleigh seemed to remember roger and his first meeting with him and said that "maybe there is no such thing as coincidence in this world,as though it was meant to be,mysterious bonds slowly but surely weave their forms".
Him having the same dream as Roger.
In fishman island it was prophesied that luffy will destroy fishman island and that will happen someday whether luffy knows it or not so idk why everyone is so surprised and heated that he's the chosen one and how he's not free lmao why did no one have a problem with this back in fishman island lmao😭😭
Then there is the prophesy of oden in which he says that joyboy will come to wano and what did luffy do he fucking came lmaoo😭😭He told toki she has also been searching for the day the world is overturned and said to her to just jump to 20 years and it will happen.
Yamato talking to Momonosuke about how out of all the pirates as numerous as the stars in the sky you happened to meet him and brought him to this country and said that she can only consider this as an act of fate.
Ppl saying that fate doesn't exist in one piece are straight up in denial,it has been mentioned a lot ESPECIALLY in wano.
Even with zoro,when he was fighting king, hyogoro and kawamatsu were talking about how he looks just like ushimaru and ryuma right down to their sword handling that it's uncanny,they were talking about how this young man was the one to finally return shusui to wano.How it must be fate at work after all ryuma was also a one-eyed swordsman.
And now that it's confirmed that Ushimaru is the great uncle of Zoro and that Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma it makes this even funnier lmaoo😭You absolutely CAN NOT say that him being related to these ppl did not help him bc it fucking did lol he is destined to do this,I'm not saying he didn't train bc we all know he did but his talent was also there.For me he leans on talent more than hard work but that's just MY opinion.As for luffy he is without a doubt more talent than hard work(I'm not saying he didn't train we know he did).
Zoans are confirmed to have a will of their own which hints at the possibility of Luffy's fruit choosing him.Awakened zoans have the user be consumed by the fruit's animal,like for ex with luffy when he is in his awakened form he exudes contagious joy and tends to laugh more,feels light,(we know he doesn't get fully consumed like the jail beasts in impel down but he is not fully himself either)in short he acts like his fruit's animal,not so free now huh luffy lmaoo😭😭
Luffy literally is Joyboy and has a god fruit,how much clearer can Oda be lmao😭
#one piece#straw hat luffy#gear 5 luffy#monkey d luffy#one piece luffy#one piece zoro#roronoa zoro#shimotsuki ryuma#shimotsuki ushimaru
[Fiction] From Caged Marines to Whitebeard Pirates - Chapter 2
"Enter!" Inhaling another deep breath and it exhaling slowly, Monkey D. Luffy, Granddaughter of Monkey D. Garp, Daughter of Monkey D. Dragon, sworn sibling of Portgas D. Ace and Outlook Sabo, daughter figure of Akagami Shanks, and the youngest Rear Admiral to be ever known, entered the office with a dreadful feeling she always had when entering the meeting room. Luffy closes the door behind her and then walks towards the table, that was placed in the center of the room, where the Fleet Admiral is sat, reading some reports. Sitting down at the chair on his left, Luffy grabs the pen that was already placed in front of the seat and began to twirl it around her hand as she waited for her superior to talk and talk he did.
"How's your time here in the Marineford?" He asked.
"Stuffy." She answered as she watches the pen's movement. Sengoku looks up from his report upon hearing her answer and took notice of the clothes she is wearing. When he saw an embroidered bleeding rose on her shirt he sighed.
"You and your crew only visit this place three times a year ever since you've been assigned to G-6, though it was a condition to do so when you agreed to lead the base, you could at least pretend that you missed or be happy in this place." He stated. The Rear Admiral glance at him with a neutral expression.
"And we are also forced to stay here for at least 3 weeks minimum, so I don't see the point of missing this place. Besides, did I agree to become a marine willingly?" She asked Sengoku sighed in defeat making her hum. "Right and only Vice-Admirals are allowed to lead a base in the New World and yet here I am, a Rear Admiral with a base inside the New World. A base that forced on me by the World Government, by him, you still want me to pretend to be happy?"
"No, and for that I am sorry." He muttered. It broke his heart whenever he talks to Luffy. She was a sweet girl when she first met her, reminding him of his Rosinante. And now, she is nothing but an empty shell, only to live when she and her chosen crew is away from the headquarters, probably if she's with them as well. Of course, he had no one to blame for the change but himself, the marines, and the world government alone. Maybe it was a good decision for her to be transferred to G6 as no one will watch over her there, not even a surveillance den-den mushi is installed in there as ordered by a… tenryuubito (it didn't matter if it made some marines, aka, Akainu suspicious), add with the fact that the base was located in the New World, where marines with ranks lower than Vice-Admirals aren't allowed, and a few islands away from G5.
Additionally, a base that can only be found using an Eternal Log Poses as New World Log Pose is pretty much useless when searching for the base as they won't be directed to the island, no matter how many log pose is used and even with or without intention to look for the said island, the results are zero. How the Marines or the World Government found it, Sengoku will never know and he very much appreciate it to be that way as he knew he won't like it. There's also the fact that only a few people had the Eternal Log Pose for that Island; Himself, the Rear Admiral and her crew, the Elders and the Tenryuubito, who had ordered of no surveillance den-den mushi installed in the base
"Senny," Luffy drawled out, said Marine hummed as he fixed his paper. "What is it that you want to talk to me about?" Sengoku cleared his throat before putting his papers to the side and lean his elbows to the table, intertwining his fingers together, and looked at her.
"He requested for you to visit him when you leave for your base tomorrow, your crew, however, is to stay on the ship." He stated. Luffy, for the first time since she arrived in the office, looked at him in the eyes and smirk darkly, eyes dull.
"By request, you mean ordered, Sengoku." She said, the Fleet Admiral merely sighed in defeat. Luffy looked at the Fleet Admiral's expression, before looking at the table. "Fine. We will visit Mariejois."
I know that the baby dragon (roger garp coparents) comics are so silly and fun and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM but i was trying to remember all the characters in the crowd in the live action (im only in dressrosa in the anime) and then i thought too much about about your comics and now im SAD!!!
Garp and Roger at the very least being friends and co parents and Garp essentially KILLING HIM in front of DRAGON. Like roger may or may not be his bio dad but thats his PIRATE dad (a la shanks) and that being the dissolution of their family unit. Also fem!croc (possibly) being in the crowd???? Maybe they meet again there. Do you think roger looked at their "son" when he died? Do you think garp couldn't look at him?? And then for garp to stand there on an execution platform with ace???? His friends kid?? His grandson???? But this time instead of standing silently like dragon did, luffy refused to save himself.
And rayleigh, RAYLEIGH couldnt be there in his best friends final moments, couldnt be there for dragon, his nephew/godson/whatever. But finally he was able to help luffy after marineford. Finally he could help his family after so many years, even if luffy didnt know.
Anyways, love your comics and art, its all very fun and cute, even if the implications get me.
Also i guess this wasnt really a question, but i wanted you to know what you inspired in my brain and kinda get your thoughts!
I’m always happy to know that my silly comics get you to think! I do enjoy drawing fun stuff but as you said, most of them have more serious or angsty implications if you do continue spinning the universe a bit.
Like with the Baby on Board comics (the coparenting one) I imagine that even though Roger and Dagon’s relationship starts out easy and light-hearted, there eventually must be a moment where Dragon no longer feels welcome among the Roger Pirates (most likely when he joins the marines at a young age). I can imagine that Garp and Roger both (not very gently) teaching him that choices have consequences – he chose the path of the marine, which means that pirates like Roger will now be his enemy. And Garp is, his situationship with Roger aside, kind of hard-headed about his sense of justice.
Still, in an AU where he spent a portion of his childhood on Roger’s ship, he’d be upset about watching the execution, whether Garp is up there on the execution platform with Roger as in the live action or not. Maybe Dragon has to endure this without having gotten any closure with a man who had once claimed him as a son. And Rayleigh isn’t there to offer comfort or platitudes. Shanks and Buggy are too caught up in their own emotions to spare any thoughts on the feelings of a guy who occasionally looked after them.
I don’t know if it’s a spoiler to you, but we do know that Crocodile was for sure at the execution in the manga/ anime. So at least Dragon wouldn’t be entirely alone. I don’t know exactly which of my AUs the Baby on Board comics apply to (most of them?) but in some of the AUs this would certainly be a moment where Dragon and Crocodile meet/ see each other again/ enjoy a night together, toasting to the old era and welcoming a new one in their own way ;3
So if Dragon wants to drink his complicated feelings away, there’s someone there to do it with, even though I doubt he’d tell Crocodile that he knew the man who died today as more than just the King of Pirates.
And yes, of course I also like the idea of just how the Baby on Board concept would weave the threads of these people even closer together.
